Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Morning Manna. It's Friday and that means it's Faith
Friday. We study the topic of faith on Fridays and we also have the Lord's Supper. So we
invite you to participate in Holy Communion later today at the end of the lesson. All
you need is bread and your choice of grape juice or red wine. This is an open communion,
meaning all are welcome. Nobody is prohibited. Our only requirements are that you are born again
and baptized in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
So I hope you participate. And if you have other people in your family and they're
saved and baptized, invite them to participate. Then come back every Friday for the Lord's
Supper. It's been a blessing over the years with the morning manna. So many people in
the beginning, members of our class, said, I haven't been in communion for years.
That was very refreshing to know that
this online Bible study had brought renewal
and refreshing to people,
bringing them back into communion with the Lord.
For you, if you've not been in communion
for a long time, this is your opportunity every Friday
to be with brothers and sisters all over the world.
We meet Monday through Friday in real time,
eight to nine a.m. Eastern time at faithandvalues.com.
Of course, people watch or listen throughout the day, different hours on
different devices and platforms, but there are real people with us right now chatting in the chat
room as we begin this Faith Friday lesson. I'm going to pray. We're going to be studying the
book of Daniel because it's Faith Friday. We've been in Daniel for I
guess several months and
Today we're gonna get Shadrach Meshach and Abednego out of that furnace. They've been in there
So
Today is a day that we we get them out of the furnace and move on to
Another lesson in the book of Daniel. Let's
pray. Father God, our wonderful Father, Father, we love you. We love you because of who you
are. Whether you did anything for us or not, we just love you, Father. You gave us life and you gave us eternal life
through your Son Jesus Christ, and you gave us your Holy Spirit. And so now we
request the Holy Spirit's presence in this class to direct it, lead us, guide us in
lead us, guide us in understanding your word, teach us the principles of faith. In the name of Jesus, amen. Amen. And we are continuing our study in the book of
Daniel here on Faith Friday. Every Friday throughout the year 2025, we're
emphasizing faith. In actuality, we emphasize faith every day, but we put a
special focus on the implementation of faith
in our personal lives on each and every Friday. So we're glad to have you here with us. We are
in Daniel chapter 3, and if you have your Bibles, let's go ahead and turn there. And I'm going to
be reading verses 24 through 30. So if you'd like to follow along, I'm reading from the King James
verse 24. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished
and rose up in haste and spake and said unto his counselors, Did not we cast three bound into the
midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king. He answered and said, Lo, I see
four men loose walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt,
and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and faked and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of
the Most High God, come forth and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth
in the midst of the fire.
And the princes, governors, captains, and king's counselors being gathered together saw these men,
upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was a hair of the head cinched.
Neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
Then Nebuchadnezzar spake and said,
Blessed be the God of Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego,
and who has sent his angel and delivered
his servants that trusted in him and have
changed the king's word and yielded their bodies,
that they might not serve nor
worship any God except their own God.
Therefore, I make a decree that every people,
nation, and language which speak anything
amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego shall be cut in pieces and their home
shall be made a dung hill because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
We're talking about Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego again today and that fourth man.
I just like saying Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego because we said it five times in this passage.
That's right. Today we have seven verses.
That's almost double what we study in a normal lesson.
So we're going to have to accelerate
the pace of our discussion to get to all 30,
because I'm telling you, we're getting these three out
of the furnace on this lesson.
We'll move on to another topic next week.
So verse 24.
Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, rose up in
haste and spake and said unto his counselors, Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the
fire? They answered and said to the king, True, O king. So we'll break this up into multiple segments.
So we'll break this up into multiple segments. First segment, then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished and rose up in haste. So segment one describes the immediate dramatic physical
emotional reaction of Nebuchadnezzar, driven by the sight of the impossible.
So this marks a major pivot in this narrative.
Things have been going Nebuchadnezzar's way up until now.
Now the king's attention is shifted from his power
and authority to the shocking reality that there is a greater power
than him. So this is a major event for Nebuchadnezzar. This is his wake-up call.
So this verse marks the end of Nebuchadnezzar's fury and rage that started in previous verses we studied in the last lesson.
What this verse teaches us is that no human authority, no matter how powerful, no matter how enraged, can triumph over
Almighty God who preserves his servants even in the heart of flames and
persecution. That's the lesson here. The King is, you know, versus previous, as we studied last week, he was
furious. He was in absolute control. He had power, authority. Nobody dared to challenge his anger and
his authority. He had the authority to be angry. He had the
authority to carry out angry commands. Nobody could challenge him. Suddenly his
fury has come to an end. And it wasn't the three Hebrews in the furnace who
challenged him. That's what drove him into the fury, but they did
not end his fury. His fury was ended by the appearance of the Son of God. Think about
that. There are people, maybe right now in your life, perhaps in the past, there will be in the
future who will be furious with you, who will find you contemptible, who will desire to
bring, to get revenge on you.
They'll just be driven with hatred for you and
You will be in a fiery furnace for a while
but there will be a moment that the Son of God Jesus Christ appears and
stops their fury
Stops them cold in their tracks
You didn't do anything to stop it.
It's an act of God.
That's what's taking place here.
This is when God said, okay, Nebbe,
we've had enough of this.
I'm gonna show you who's in control.
So his,
who's in control. His astonishment stems from his witnessing something that completely defied the laws
of nature.
He's astonished.
That means he's astonished.
That means he's standing there, he's staring, his jaw has dropped, his eyes are bugged out.
He's speechless.
He no longer is in his rage, his fury.
He's humbled now, and is at a loss for words, because he's witnessing something
that can't be real.
It says that he rose up in haste.
I mean, he jumped out of his seat. He was up in haste. He was up in haste. He was up in haste.
I mean he jumped out of his seat.
I mean he jumped out of his seat.
He didn't just.
Casually get up out of his.
Chair.
He jumped up.
He rose up in haste.
An impulsive.
Urgent physical reaction.
Urgent physical reaction reaction that disrupted his regal appearance.
I mean, just a moment before,
he's sitting there in his, you know,
whatever throne they brought outside for him.
You know, he couldn't just sit on a,
wasn't sitting on a bar stool.
They had to bring a some kind of a royal chair outside for him to watch this execution.
Right. He's sitting there in his robe and his crown and he's he's royal and pompous and
arrogant. And, you know, if he wants to be furious so what who who's gonna stop him
he wants to kill somebody he's the king he wants to kill three people who's gonna stop him he has
power he has authority and now something has happened and so he rises up in haste, he jumps up out of his seat, and he's lost his
regal appearance. He's no longer a king, he's now just a man. And everybody sees it.
They see that there's something going on inside the furnace that the king has no power over.
And people are thinking, so there is a limit to your power.
They didn't say it, but they thought it.
Okay, Nebuchadnezzar just met his match and he lost. What is going
on here? Who showed up? Who is this person in the fire? So the sight of this fourth man in the furnace was so overwhelming that it momentarily overshadowed
Nebuchadnezzar's anger, pride, arrogance.
It was too much.
At that moment, he was just another man.
Just another man.
And people saw it.
Everybody there saw it.
Hey, he's just like us.
We're stunned too.
So his reaction is actually a testimony
to the power of the miracle.
That even a tyrannical, arrogant king
recognizes the presence of God in a supernatural event.
His shock demonstrates that
the spectacle that was unfolding in front of him and
everybody else was utterly unexpected.
Contrary to all human reasoning and understanding, the logic
mind cannot process what's taking place. So what we see here is an illustration of
God's ability to interrupt the plans of the most powerful people on earth.
That's right.
Don't forget that.
There are people in power right now in various nations. They're full of arrogance, pride.
If they want to be enraged, they can kill people, and they do it.
people, and they do it. There's one in Jerusalem, any day he gets up, he kills people. Netanyahu doesn't care, he's arrogant, he kills people. But there will be a day that God will astonish him.
Need a probably I don't.
Our own president, Mr. Trump.
At times displays arrogance.
Pride and will make ultimatums and threats and tell world leaders if you don't do what I say by the deadline, I'm going to destroy you.
Okay.
What makes never Kinez are different than Donald Trump or Netanyahu or any of these guys?
Xi Jinping, any of them.
I'm trying to personalize this so you see this still goes on. than donald trump or Netanyahu or any of these guys jay jay ping any of them
I'm trying to personalize this so you see this still goes on today, right?
Uh doc I read yesterday that
In the first six months of the trump administration. He has carried out more bombing raids than the whole four years of Joe Biden.
And Obama.
Did you know I had no we were bombing that many places.
Like, what is going on here?
But anyhow, I don't want to go.
I'm trying to show you that this stuff is real today.
Right.
You have arrogant leaders today just like here in Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar, and yet God
can enter the picture and bring them low.
Yes.
God is able to interrupt the plans of the wicked and display His sovereign power that
demands their attention.
They can't escape it.
He defies human logic.
He shatters their logic.
He confounds the wisdom of the world.
This was a miracle powerful enough
that it stopped Nebuchadnezzar in his tracks.
Got him up out of his throne. Got him up out of his seat.
And made haste, rose up in haste. It poured water on his raging fire in his soul.
So Nebuchadnezzar's astonishment and this hasty reaction shows the power of God to disrupt human arrogance and pride.
And when we witness the impossible, whether it's in the Scriptures or if it's in our lives, it should compel us to look closer and acknowledge the presence of God.
The miraculous always demands our attention and our awe.
And God is working today. Today, he's showing up in the presence of people who are being persecuted.
This isn't a story that only happened one time.
Second part, and spake and said unto his counselors, did we not cast three men bound into the midst
of the fire.
So the king's attention has been arrested.
He now searches, he turns to his counselors, his advisors, his national security advisor,
his science advisor.
He's got all of his advisors there.
Tell me what I'm seeing.
My mind can't comprehend this.
Didn't we just throw three men tied up with ropes?
Didn't we throw them into the middle of the fire?
Am I imagining this?
He needs his counselors to explain to him
what is taking place, because his mind can't process it.
He needs a verbal confirmation of what just transpired.
Let's see, I'm thinking this through. I gave a command. Tie these Jews up.
Three guys. Heat that furnace up seven times. Get me the mightiest soldiers in my army.
Tell them to throw those three Jews
into the center of the furnace.
Didn't we just do that?
Then how could that be happening?
God was gaslighting Nebuchadnezzar.
He was saying, hey, Nebby,
can't explain this one, can you?
Are you doubting your sanity now?
You can just imagine,
I don't know if this conversation took place,
but you can just imagine the Father saying to Jesus,
the Son, I've got an idea.
We're going to really, really freak this guy out.
Yes.
And it really wasn't that complicated.
What are we going to need?
Uh, get some ropes.
It's not going to be, is that we don't need that many props. Just get some ropes and make them get in the fire with their clothes on.
So Nebuchadnezzar asks a rhetorical question.
He knows the answer, but he needs his advisors to tell him, hey, you're not losing your mind,
King.
Yeah, you really did that.
We all saw it, we all experienced it.
But the questioning, did we not cast three men bound into the fire, to the midst of the fire?
It exposes the arrogance of the King.
It exposes the arrogance of the king. He intended absolute destruction, but God in seconds rendered all of his proud pompous
efforts just made him futile.
As though it doesn't matter what you say, King.
And if you wanted to crank it up, God will crank it up too.
What do you want to do?
You already heated the furnace seven times.
What do you want to do?
You want to take it up ten?
You want to take it up a hundred?
His arrogance had been exposed.
So the advisors, they confirm, yes, King, you did tie him up.
You did have him thrown into the fire.
We're all witnessing this strange, true, O King.
So they confirm what had just taken place.
And then we get to verse 25.
He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose walking in the midst of the fire and they have no hurt and
In and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God
glory
Jesus Christ in the old covenant scriptures
See Jesus Jesus made cameo appearances for the Jews, for the Hebrews, for the Israelites.
These were cameo appearances, letting them know there's a day coming the Messiah is going
to arrive.
Right now, it's just a cameo appearance. One time he appeared as a burning bush.
This time, he's in a furnace that's burning,
but he's fine and everybody with him is fine.
He seems to like to do stuff in fire, doesn't he? Well, so segment one day revelation says his eyes are like fire.
That's right.
Hello, look.
Now, even profound astonishment we've gone from regular astonishment to profound astonishment.
We threw three men in, tied up with ropes, but there are four men in there and the ropes are gone.
That's right.
The only thing that burned up were the bonds.
The bondage that the king put on the righteous Hebrews,
the bonds burned up,
but the Hebrews didn't.
The lesson for us is that what the devil puts on us
to bind us,
when God shows up on the scene,
the chains, the ropes,
whatever Satan has put around you
will burn up in the presence of the Lord.
Chains, ropes of bondage cannot exist
in the presence of the Lord.
They just, they're combustible.
He just walks in the room, the chains go up in flames.
What chains around you today?
What ropes?
The presence of the Lord in your life will make those ropes and chains disappear. Right, the fire that you're going through
will burn the bonds that have held you back.
Doc, the Lord doesn't have to say,
well, here, come here, son, come here, daughter.
Let me untie you.
Let me unhook these chains.
Let me get these ropes out of a knot and get you loose.
He doesn't have to do that.
He just walks in.
And says, Bon, be loosed.
They just disappear in his presence.
They just go up and smoke because he's there.
He's in the room.
So the realization that there's four men there, that contradicts the previously established
fact of only three men. because they've got to deal with who is the fourth man.
You know, the fire selectivity, meaning it burned up the ropes, but not the clothing,
didn't even touch their hats, nothing.
The fire selectivity is a testament to the intelligent power of divine intervention. Only God can say, I'm only going to destroy this, I'm not going to touch anything else.
See, when he shows up in your life, he's not going to damage and destroy other things.
He's only going to destroy the bondage.
The bondage disappears. It takes an intelligent divine being to carry out that kind of precision.
So, as we mentioned before in the other lesson, the fact that they're loose in the furnace
emphasizes this profound irony. The place that was intended for their execution has become a
place of freedom. This is a lesson for us. What Satan intended for our bondage for our demise for our destruction.
That's the place where God gives us our freedom.
We think God has to take us out of that place to give us our freedom.
And this is showing us no he gives you the freedom in the place of
Testing hallelujah glory to God. Yes
There's freedom in the fire
You know he did he he doesn't take you out of the fire and say okay, I'm gonna make you free now No, he he makes you free in the fire. Then he take you out of the fire and say, okay, I'm going to make you free now.
No, he makes you free in the fire.
Then he leads you out.
You leave the fire in freedom.
You don't leave the fire to go find freedom.
You obtain the freedom in the fire.
Then the door is open. That's a hard one to digest because it says sometimes in our life, God allows us in the
fire until we spiritually by faith accept the freedom that is in Christ. Amen. And once we have
we've reached that place of freedom in the fire he goes okay I'm gonna open up
the door you can leave now but you're walking out free you know you're not
walking to the door in bondage and then open the door and go outside and then
you're free no you're free in the fire
You're gonna walk through the fire free and you're gonna leave the fire free
But the freedom comes in the fire
Amen, if you learn that principle, believe me Shadrach Meshach and Abed, the rest of their lives, they were never afraid of fire.
They had no fear of fire, they had no fear of death, because they experienced the freedom.
So the presence of the fourth man man confirms God's active presence and his intervention at the precise moment of their
greatest need.
Like you know, what did Jesus say to them when he walked in?
Did he smile and say, hey, you guys didn't doubt I would show up, did you?
Oh, no, Lord, no, no, we knew you were coming.
All four of them smiling.
You know, of course we believed.
That's why we're in here.
We believed.
And he's like, yeah, that's why I'm here. You believed. And he's like, Yeah, that's why I'm here. You
believed. You get what I just said? Jesus showed up because
they did believe. They went into the fire believing he would
show up. They their faith, their faith activated heaven we got to get down there right now
We got three Hebrews that are so bold in their faith that they're not afraid of fire
So the second part is walking in the midst of the fire. They have no hurt.
They're just walking around. They're not jumping going, Ouch, oh, oh, man, I'm on fire. My feet are hot. I mean, they're just walking around.
They're in a profound state of ease. I mean, they're chilled out. They're chilled in the fire.
They're walking in the fire.
They're walking and talking.
And everybody's there looking at this thing.
This is the most bizarre, surreal, amazing thing I've ever seen.
How can these people walk around in the fire
and who is this fourth person?
Where did he come from?
And you know, people must have been,
did somebody jump in with them and we didn't see it?
The king might be thinking,
did you guys throw an extra person in there?
But they were not harmed.
They were completely preserved
from the effects of the flames.
That's the message there.
Completely, totally protected from the elements
that Nebuchadnezzar intended to bring about
their destruction.
And then you get, in the form of the fourth is like the son of God.
That's just an amazing statement.
Yes. that Nebuchadnezzar recognized. This fourth person in there is a God, and he's a son of a God.
That took the Holy Spirit to give him that divine revelation.
Amen.
Amen. That was for that was for Nebby's sake. Okay, that was for his sake. God gave him a revelation.
So what you're seeing is supernatural. The recognition of a fourth figure, whose appearance is divine, is the theological core message of this miracle.
So the divine presence, that's the central message here. He is like the Son of God. What it says here is that even a pagan king recognized
the supernatural nature of this fourth person.
And I believe it took the Holy Spirit to open his heart and mind to see it and say it.
What have we learned about faith?
God by grace gives us the things that we need.
Nebuchadnezzar needed enough faith at that moment to see that this is the Son of God.
Again, it was for his benefit. That fourth person was Jesus Christ who appeared before his incarnation as God in human flesh.
So what are we learning here?
God is always present with his sons and daughters in their trials and tribulations.
He offers comfort, protection, companionship, and deliverance.
Whatever you're in right now, the Lord will be there with you to comfort you, to protect
you, to be your companion, and to deliver you at the divine right moment.
If he sovereignly chooses that he's going to pull up a chair in the middle of your fiery
furnace and just sit there and talk to you for a while, that's his sovereign right.
You don't shout, Lord, please open the door and get me out of here.
He's going to take you out in his proper time.
They walked around together.
I can imagine Jesus smiling and saying, hey guys, let's take a tour of this furnace.
That's what it says.
They were walking around in the midst of the fire.
They were taking a tour. That's a big old furnace here. It's a lot bigger on the inside
than on the outside. What was Jesus doing? He didn't just run in and grab them and run out I would hey that's what I would have liked just get me out of here
Jesus said chill out. Let's walk around. I
Want you to I desire you
Shadrach Meshach and Abednego. I desire you to behold this experience
That I the Son of God have come to be in your fire with
you, to protect you. I've allowed the fire to burn up the ropes that were binding you,
okay? But the four of us are just going to walk around and just enjoy the moment.
Enjoy the moment that the flames can't hurt you.
And we're also letting the people that sought your death
to watch this amazing scene.
So he takes his time for your benefit and their benefit.
Again, he didn't just run in, grab them and run out the door with them.
Man, I got you out of there just before you blew up in flames.
No, he's like, let's just walk around.
Let's see what's inside this furnace.
Let's tell some jokes. Let's talk. Who knows what they talked about?
They weren't in a rush to get out. When Jesus shows up in your life, don't be in a rush, a hurry.
Savor every moment of his presence.
And when it's time to lead you out of the furnace,
he'll take you to the door.
Verse 26, I gotta hurry up.
Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth
of the burning fiery furnace and spake and said, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego
Ye servants of the most high god come forth and come hither
Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came forth
of the mist of the fire
They came out of the middle of the furnace, okay, so Nebuchadnezzar walks up to the mouth,
the door of the furnace.
This is significant because it shows that Nebuchadnezzar
was overcome, no, this shows that he overcame his fear.
Remember the mighty soldiers burned up
at the mouth of the furnace.
The heat was so intense, they died.
Now Nebuchadnezzar's like, I gotta get up here closer
and see what's going on.
So he walked to the door, the mouth of the furnace, the same place that had killed his
mighty soldiers. As the king approached, he understood that the presence of that fourth figure would protect
him just as it protected the three Hebrews.
He's like, none of this makes sense.
But if they can walk around in there, I can. I can get close to this fire.
Right. And notice the change in tone from just a few verses before where Nebuchadnezzar
was in rebellion against God. But here it says, they recognize us that ye servants of
the Most High God. uh they recognize us that ye servants of the most high god yes this is now a
uh an act of reverence he's he's transitioned from hostility and control
to now it's curiosity and a
a humbled recognition of a divine power he still doesn't know what's going on,
but he knows it's beyond his pay grade.
Right.
He's never seen anything like this,
but he's so curious by this fourth man
that he's willing to walk up to the mouth,
the door of the furnace.
So there's a transformation taking place in Nebuchadnezzar.
The presence of the Lord even affects the powerful.
Out of curiosity, they got to look.
And spake and said, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, he's servants of the most high God, come forth, come hither. He now acknowledges the supremacy of Almighty God. He's now no longer is Shadrach,
Meshach and Abednego criminals. They're now servants of the most high God. It's like, Oh, did I call you a criminal?
Oh, please forgive me.
Okay.
You're servants of the most high God.
What a change of attitude.
Now there's profound respect and recognition of these three Hebrews.
He gives them the title servants Servants of the Most High God.
Amen.
My mistake, pardon me, I mistook you for somebody else. I didn't know you were Servants of the Most
High God. Please come out. Let's just forget about this, all right? I'll make it up to you.
Mistaken identity, I'm so sorry.
It's like, you know, when a government
arrests somebody at the airport,
and then they later find out he's an ambassador.
You know, oh, pardon me.
We didn't know you were an ambassador.
Our apologies.
Please come into the country.
That's what's happening here.
These three men are ambassadors of heaven.
Look how the story has gone. Daniel 3 starts with Nebuchadnezzar worshiping God.
Complete reversal.
So we've got to recognize the power of faith to compel even the most hostile people to
acknowledge God's sovereignty. If you stand long enough in faith, they will eventually be compelled
to acknowledge that God is in your life. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came forth out
of the midst of the fire. They're still in the middle. They're still walking around in the middle of the fire. Then indicates they responded to the king's invitation.
I can imagine Jesus kind of nodding with the head.
Go on.
Go ahead.
I mean, Jesus didn't walk of the the door of the furnace. Only three
walked out. So they were still in the center of the inferno. They heard the
King say, come out! Get out of there! What are you boys doing in there? Who put you in there?
Get out of there.
It wasn't me, was it?
He's got a totally different attitude now.
So previously the three men disobeyed the king, now they obey him.
Why?
He's got an attitude adjustment.
They don't have to convince him that it's illegal, immoral to bow down and worship his image.
He gets it now.
He's never going to bring that up again.
So we get the 27 and the princes, the governors, the captains, the kings, counselors being gathered together, saw these men upon whose body the fire had no power, nor was a hair of their head singed. Neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them. Praise God.
I mean, nothing's, no harm to these men at all
except their bondage was broken.
Their bondage, their ropes were burned up.
So, you know, again, you can you can imagine the people there, never can as all of them
wondering. Okay, this is amazing. Their clothing is fine, their hats, fine, their hairs, fine,
their eyebrows are okay. But the ropes are gone. The little brains were processing what they were seeing.
The bondage was broken.
The bondage burned up.
So he brought all of his cabinet, all of the key people that ran Babylon.
They were all summons.
And they gathered together.
See, they came together.
They were spread out, but now they've come together.
They saw these men in the midst of the furnace and upon whose bodies the fire had no power, you know, not a hair on their
head was singed.
Okay.
Again, demonstrating God's ability to preserve them, protect them in the worst heat, the
clothing preserved.
And we get to verse 27. I just read that one, didn't I?
Not yet.
I didn't?
Not 27. Well, I guess you did. Yeah, I guess you did. Sorry.
Yeah, I did. Yeah. Okay. So, let me go down to 28 here. 28. Then Nebuchadnezzar spake and said, blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach,
and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, that's the best he can come up with,
that fourth man, he's an angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him and have changed
the king's word and yielded their bodies that they might not serve nor worship
any God except their own God." Well Nebuchadnezzar, he changed his talk, didn't he?
He's now recognizing there's a divine angel, these men are servants, they trusted in God, and they've changed my words.
They have changed the king's word.
Why? Because they would not worship any other God.
He's now blessing.
He's now blessing. There's a blessing coming out of Nebuchadnezzar's mouth now.
The man that was trying to kill them has done a complete 180, he's now blessing their God.
What a change! By faith, the three men entered…no,
the three men by faith said, We are not going to violate our God's commandment.
Yes, we know Nebuchadnezzar is going to throw us into the fire. Yes, we know that God can save us.
But even if he doesn't, we're still not going to bow.
Right.
And now Nebuchadnezzar is praising their God.
Send an angel.
It's the only description he could have for the one that looks like the Son of God.
That's got to be an angel.
Because he didn't know anything about the Son of God.
He just says he looks like a Son of God.
I guess that's an angel.
So they knew about angels, obviously Nebuchadnezzar knew that angels existed somewhere, and then
and have changed the king's word. He acknowledges that their faith, which defied his decree, has now changed his decree.
Think about that.
The faith of three men changed a king's words.
What can we do today with this kind of faith?
Can we change the words of powerful people today?
In verse 29, therefore I make a decree that every people, nation, and language which speak
anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Bendigo shall be cut in pieces and their houses shall be made a dung hill because there is no other god that can
deliver after this sort. Oh now he's a believer. What a fast transformation, metamorphosis, this guy just instantly changed.
He went from being a proud, pompous, arrogant, mean-spirited tyrant who demanded that people
worship him, and now he's the head of the choir.
Now I'm going to make another decree. Forget that last decree. He's the head of the choir.
Now I'm going to make another decree.
Forget that last decree.
That one's over.
I'm making a new decree.
Every person, every nation, every language, I don't care who you are, where you are, if
you say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, I'm gonna chop you into pieces and I'm gonna turn your house into a pile of poop.
That's what he said.
Alright, so now the crowd is standing there. They get, hey, we got a new decree.
Life changed for the Hebrews on that day in Babylon.
Life changed.
They were in Babylon, in a place of captivity, but the atmosphere changed.
Think about that one, Doc.
Yes, for the whole nation.
The whole nation.
Yeah.
Anybody speaks anything in this, that's blasphemy.
He's speaking anything blasphemous about God.
Okay.
All right. Again, chopped up into pieces, you know a very, you know
There won't be anything left of you
and
The this this angel this fourth man the son of God. He's not going to show up when I'm chopping you up
And then I'm going to turn your your house into a dung hill.
Utter disgrace. Nobody will. We're going to put an outhouse on top of your property.
Isn't that really what it's saying? Right. I'm going to build an outhouse where your house is right now. I'm gonna turn your house into an outhouse
Nobody's gonna remember you
Again this is the same guy that was just minutes before was going to kill three Hebrews
Because there is no other God that can deliver like this
He recognized What we just saw is beyond human reasoning, explanation.
There's nobody, there's no God, nowhere in the universe that can do what we just saw.
So let's just change our attitude, change our speech right now.
And then verse 30, then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon.
They got a job promotion.
They're now over the people who watched him go into the furnace.
Yes.
That's an amazing story right there. The God will turn things around and suddenly the people who were cheering for your demise are now working for you. Okay, let's go to the Lord's Supper. I'm already six minutes over.
All right. And if you've got the elements believer in Jesus Christ and you've been baptized
in water according to the scriptures in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit,
then we invite you to participate in this, the Lord's Table. In fact, we encourage you to do so.
Don't neglect this, folks. It's an important part of our faith, and it's what unites us across cultures, countries, boundaries.
It unites us as citizens of the kingdom.
And so, just like I remember as a kid, we used to do the Pledge of Allegiance every morning before classes started.
This is our Pledge of Allegiance here, if you will, the Lord's Table.
pledge of allegiance here, if you will, the Lord's table. And what we do before we enter into the Lord's table is we ask for the Lord to search our hearts for those areas of our life where we've
fallen short. And we need His forgiveness, both sins of omission and commission. And I'd like to
ask Rick if he wouldn't mind praying for us right now that the Lord would search our hearts as we prepare to enter the Lord's table.
Almighty God,
our maker and creator, our heavenly father, our savior, our redeemer,
father, all good things come from you
and the best that came from you was your son, Jesus Christ.
Father, we are gathered here at your son's table to feast by faith on him. But before we do so, we confess our sins and we ask for your forgiveness and the cleansing of all sins and transgressions
and iniquities so that you have no record of anything that could be held against us
and that we will live this day without chains of bondage and we will go through this day free because the fourth man is with us.
The Son of God is with us and we have liberty. So Father, thank you for saving
us and thank you for forgiving us in the name of Jesus. Amen. Amen.
Praise God. Thank you, Rick. Well, this morning if you have the elements of the Lord's table, we're
going to ask for the Lord's blessing on that at this time. And take this very reverently.
This is not something casual that we do, even though we do it on a regular basis. Jesus
said, as often as you do it, implying that you do it often. And I know some churches only do it a few times
a year if they do it at all anymore. And so, and as Rick shared earlier, there are those that have
been on Morning Manna that haven't participated in the Lord's Table for years because their church
just doesn't do it. And so, But we invite you to participate today,
and we want you to be a part of this.
Let's ask for the Lord's blessing on
these items of the Lord's table today.
Almighty God, in your tender mercy,
you gave your only begotten Son,
Jesus Christ, to suffer death
upon the cross for our redemption.
He offered himself and made once for all time
a perfect and sufficient sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. He instituted this
remembrance of his passion and death, which he commanded us to continue until
he comes again. And so, Father, we ask you to bless and sanctify with your
word and Holy Spirit these gifts of bread and wine that we may partake of
his most blessed body and blood. Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed
once for all upon the cross. Therefore let us keep the feast. Hallelujah. On the night that he was
betrayed our Lord Jesus took bread and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to his
disciples saying take eat this is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.
The body of our Lord Jesus Christ which was given for you, preserve your body and soul
to everlasting life. This is the bread of heaven. Take and eat in remembrance that
Christ died for you. After supper, Jesus took the cup and when he'd given thanks, he gave
it to them saying, drink this olive you for this is my blood of the new covenant which
is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this in remembrance of me.
Praise God. Hallelujah. Glory to God.
The blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, which was shed for you,
preserve your body and soul to everlasting life.
Drink the cup of salvation in remembrance that Christ's blood was shed for you, and be thankful.
Behold the Lamb of God. Behold Him who takes away the sins of the world
and blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb. This sacrament is
the gift of God for the people of God. Feed on Him by faith with thanksgiving that Christ died for you.
Glory to God. Hallelujah. Praise God. What a wonderful opportunity to be able to share the Lord's table with hundreds of people all over the world live. Rick. Amen. Praise God.
Well, thank you, everybody. I'm not going to hold you any longer. It's 12 minutes after the hour, and we appreciate your patience. Have a blessed day and a blessed weekend.
Make time for the Lord.
Make time to be quiet, to be still.
The world is noisy.
The world is very noisy, but the Lord,
there's peace and tranquility in his presence.
Okay.
Just think about it.
Heaven is the opposite of the world.
The world has no peace.
Heaven has no disruption.
Just opposite.
Everything's opposite. Everything's opposite. It's hard to even comprehend what life is like in heaven.
But that's where your God resides.
And his spirit resides in you.
And his spirit desires for you to enter it.
He's like, come on up.
Even though you're living here on this earth in this mortal body, come on up and
experience the peace that's in heaven. The world wants you in turmoil. The world
wants you to think about negative things. The world wants you to get your mind, your
thoughts off of God. But the Lord's always saying, come on up, things are nice up here.
I'm not talking about leaving the earth and going to heaven.
I'm talking about our spirits
entering into the presence of the Lord.
So make some time for him this weekend.
Amen. Praise God.
Well, we appreciate you being here with us all this week, especially today here on Faith
Friday and being able to participate in the Lord's Table with us.
We'll pick back up in Proverbs on Monday.
And so if you'd like to prepare ahead, we're starting chapter seven.
And so we'll be looking forward to
that as we get started on a brand new week of morning man. Any final words
for we sign off for today? We're not. That's it. Be blessed. Enjoy the
weekend. See you Monday. God bless you and we'll see you on the next morning.
Man.
