study the Word of God. I can't say enough about you. I think our class is
fantastic, and you're in the cream of the crop worldwide in the body of Christ
willing to spend one hour a day, five days a week studying the word of God.
It's like you're in, I mean the only people who do that kind of stuff are people in seminaries.
That's the level that you're at, Doc.
They're at the level of seminary students that's right they aren't and uh it's it's very
motivating to me keeps me going and i'm excited so doc burkhardt and i are here to uh not just
help you understand the word of god it's helping us understand the word of god as it forces us to
dig down deep in the word to have these lessons for you.
And so we get blessed by doing the study for the lessons.
We sure do.
And it's changed me.
It has had an impact on me.
And God is working in my life in many ways that I can't explain.
So this month in June, we are in the book of Proverbs and we're now in the third chapter
of Proverbs and we're going to be looking at verses 19 through 26. Proverbs 3 verses 19 through 26.
Let's pray, invite the Holy Spirit and then we will begin our study. Almighty God, we bless
you, we come to you in the name of your Son Jesus Christ. Father, we are here to
be fed and we humbly request the presence of the Holy Spirit to teach us
the depth and the riches and the beauty of your word, so that we may glorify your son Jesus Christ with our
lives. In his name, Jesus, we pray. Amen. Amen. As Rick said, we are continuing our study in the
book of Proverbs chapter three, we're going to pick back up today on verse 19. I'd like to remind
everyone that the morning manna is an outreach of faith and values fellowship and international Christian fellowship of
believers and we welcome you to be a part of this live edition of Morning Manna and we say hello to
those who are listening to us at other times on various streaming outlets and on pre-recorded
editions of Morning Manna as well. Welcome, God bless you. Thanks for being here today.
I'm reading from the King James today,
starting at verse 19 of Proverbs chapter three.
The Lord by wisdom has founded the earth
by understanding hath he established the heavens.
By his knowledge, the depths are broken up
and the clouds drop down the dew.
My son, let not them depart from thine eyes.
Keep sound wisdom and discretion. So shall they be life unto thy soul and grace
to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely and thy foot shall not
stumble. When thou lies down thou shalt not be afraid, yea thou shalt lie down
and thy sleep shall be
sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked
when it cometh, for the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot for
being taken." God bless the reading of his word today. Amen. Doc, there's some scriptures in there
that we need today considering world news.
Oh, yes.
We'll talk about how we can apply these scriptures
to our daily life.
So let's start with verse 19.
As always, we separate each verse into two or three segments.
And this one has three segments.
The first segment is, the Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth.
So this segment emphasizes the divine role of wisdom in creation.
The Lord by wisdom founded the earth.
So it's revealing the role of wisdom in the the uh... in the establishment in the
establishing
of our planet
so god use wisdom as a tool for creation
everything's in order
the entire universe is in order
that is
that is an example of
of wisdom to the max. The order, the beauty of the universe,
he found it. He found it. Wisdom founded the earth. That means there was a deliberate act.
It wasn't haphazard, wasn't. I was weird and sounded the earth. Go ahead
No, it wasn't chance of you know evolution today and
The big bang theory tells you it just just happened just a big old accident. We don't really don't understand it. No
Wisdom outlined the earth as a foundation of everything
God used his wisdom to craft the earth with purpose
and with precision.
So this phrase, the Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth.
It highlights wisdom's divine role,
wisdom's divine origin.
Let's say the divine origin of wisdom.
Wisdom did not exist outside of God.
God and wisdom are one.
Yes.
So the focus on quote the earth
is underscoring wisdoms tangible impact.
Wisdom is not just some beautiful fluffy idea.
wisdom's not just some beautiful fluffy idea.
What this is saying is God, the master architect used his wisdom to establish a physical thing
called the earth.
And so that's a lesson to us,
that we will use his wisdom to establish physical things
for our benefit in this world.
By understanding, this is Segment Two.
So Segment One is,
the Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth. Segment Two is segment two. So segment one is, the Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth.
Segment two is by understanding.
So this underscores understanding
as a divine attribute of God.
It speaks of God's discernment in creation,
that his deep knowledge ensures the stability and the order of all things in the universe.
Understanding, this is speaking about God's understanding.
It signifies insightful perception.
As Doc said, the universe did not come together by chance.
It didn't just happen.
It was by God's insightful perception.
Again, we see the synergy between wisdom and understanding.
Understanding is the ability to apply wisdom.
Right.
The third segment of this verse,
he hath established the heavens.
So this emphasizes God's sovereign act
in establishing the heavens.
And that tells us that we should trust his understanding his wisdom we should recognize his power in sustaining the
universe I don't go to bed at night worrying that the oceans are going to
overtake the continents and I certainly don't worry about Jupiter dropping out of the sky either.
No.
Why? Because there's an established order to things.
There's an established order to the universe, to the Earth, to the heavens.
He's established it.
And wisdom predates the creation of man.
Wisdom was around before man was around.
And so really what wisdom is,
is aligning ourselves to God's order,
to God's way of doing things.
That's ultimately what wisdom is.
Yes.
Getting yourself in alignment with his ways.
Then you're wise.
In other words, when you do it Papa's way, you're wise. When you
don't do it his way, you're a fool. It's that simple. What is wisdom? Doing it his way, speaking his way. Doc, years ago, and I know you'll remember
this, 20 some years ago, there was a, oh it went on for a number of years, there
was a, there was this movement, people were convinced that Planet X was going to hit the earth.
And I used to be inundated with people emailing and calling us and saying, why aren't you
doing true news episodes about Planet X?
And don't you know that Planet X is on its way that it's going to smash into the planet
and all this, you know?
And I just told people, look, if there's an object in the sky, if there's an object in
any universe headed this way, the God that I serve is smart enough to navigate that object, to steer it.
And if he steers it directly into this planet,
then it's lights out for mankind
and why are you worried about it?
Right, there's nothing you can do about it.
It's the end of the world, why are you worried?
But I just saw people so fearful that Planet X, something
they didn't even know if it existed. We just, we know it's out there. Have you seen it? No,
but we know it's there. It's coming to get you. You know, and but people isn't the there's always a tendency for human beings to seek
out answers when God's already provided answers.
You know, for them, planet X solved a puzzle for them a mystery for them.
But really, God had an answer for them beforehand anyway.
Yes, verse 19 says, He hath established the heavens.
Right.
By what?
By wisdom.
Yes.
So are you telling me that the God who established
the universe, the heavens, created the stars,
the asteroids, everything
that's in space.
After he did all that, he didn't know how to keep it all together.
Right.
Everything else works like clockwork except for that planet X.
There's that crazy planet X out there.
See, the people that believed in planet X and were always fearful it
was going to crash into the planet had no trusting God. Right. He hath established the heavens.
It speaks of his authority. His truth, his word upholds the cosmos with perfect stability.
If there's a Planet X, He can steer that thing through our solar system and it's not going to
come near us. And if it does come near us, it's because He will not going to come near us. And if it does
come near us it's because he wills it to come near us. Amen. That's right. And if
he wills it to come near us we ought to be asking why is he throwing a giant
rock towards us? That should be the bigger question shouldn't it? That's the question.
Are you trying to say something, God?
So he established the heavens.
That speaks of the heavens permanence.
Something that's established isn't floating around and moving.
There's established.
There's order.
It speaks of the grandeur of heaven.
Verse 20.
All right, so let's go back.
Let's look at 19.
So we put it all together.
The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth by understanding He has established the heavens.
Now we get to verse 20.
By His knowledge, the depths are broken up and the clouds drop down to do.
Segment one of verse 20. Say that again doc. Oh I didn't say anything.
Oh I got some echo here. All right I'm sorry I got some some audio echo came
in through my speaker. Segment one, by His knowledge.
So this emphasizes divine intelligence behind creation.
By God's knowledge.
Yes.
By God's knowledge, the depths are broken up and the clouds drop down to do.
Right. This isn't some deism that
we're talking about like many used to believe, but rather that God had an
active role in planning and creating creation and here in verse 20 where you
know he can control the elements of the earth now. So he's in control.
He has a divine plan and divine intelligence.
Yes.
He had infinite foresight.
He has perfect precision, intelligent design by his knowledge. By his knowledge, the depths are broken up.
So the depths are broken up is speaking about God's act of releasing
vast amounts of water under the Earth's crust.
There are oceans beneath us, not just rivers,
there are oceans beneath us.
And so the depths refer to this mysterious source of water
that's flowing through the Earth. refer to this mysterious source of water
that's flowing through the earth.
See, there's no,
you don't have to worry that there's gonna be a drought that you won't have a drop of water.
Right, God's got oceans under the earth.
There's oceans under your feet.
He can make water come up through the ground for his people.
Right. I find it fascinating, Rick, that, you know, when I was a kid growing
up, we, when I forget what we were doing,
we were on a tour in Oklahoma. In Oklahoma you know it's
pretty dry pretty barren in most places and everything but we stopped on this field trip
and the guide said underneath your feet right now there is a vast sea that basically is the
size of the state of Oklahoma and I always found that fascinating that right below us
our seas and oceans and rivers going back and forth
that we have no idea what's happening beneath our feet.
God does.
God's in charge of it.
He can cause those depths to break up
and spew out any day that he wanted.
In fact, he did once back in Noah's day.
I always liked to go through caverns.
And I'm one of those tourists,
if I see a sign that says cavern tours, I'm gonna go.
I'm just fascinated by them. And I was in one cavern, and I'm gonna go. I'm just fascinated by them.
And I was in one cavern, and there was a waterfall.
Wasn't massive, but it was an impressive waterfall
in the cavern.
And the tour guide said,
"'Are you wondering where this water is coming from?'
Yes, I am.
He goes, "'Well, above you,' which is all rock,
the ceiling above us all rock.'
He said, "'There is a very wide and deep river
flowing above us.
Above you, you're in the cave below.
We're in a cave below.
And there's a layer of rock above us.
And he said, above us, above this rock layer,
the ceiling is a wide and deep river.
And I don't remember the details.
He told everybody in the group,
how long that river was,
where they knew it started and where it was going.
It was amazing.
This is all over the planet.
Are there in deserts in the Middle East,
beneath people, beneath their homes
and their desert farms, there are rivers and lakes.
there are rivers and lakes.
So the phrase the depths are broken up, this is talking about God releasing this subterranean water.
And it speaks of his creative authority.
There's an action, dynamic action,
they're broken up.
He breaks open the earth's upper layer
to release that water.
Yes.
To make sure that the needs of people are met.
to make sure that the needs of people are met.
The third segment is, and the clouds drop down the dew.
So this speaks of
the skies
releasing the dew at night,
and the clouds drop down the dew, okay? And so there's not dew downpours.
Right.
Dew comes down gently.
So the water beneath is broken up. That takes violent action.
Yes. But the dew comes down gently. Right. But both by God's knowledge and power.
And the same hand. Yes. The same hand that brings the dew down gently is the same hand that
pounds the earth and opens up the crust and releases the water.
And so we see once again a pattern that you see a lot in Proverbs.
We have one extreme and another extreme.
So you have beginning, the depths are broken up,
obviously referring back to the flood and the judgment of God and the bursting forth of the waters and the flooding of the earth.
And yet that same God brings down the blessing of the dew.
Yes.
I just thought about this one.
A week or two ago, we studied Elijah on Faith Friday.
And remember he was at the brook.
He called down a drought.
It stopped raining for three years.
The Lord honored his words.
And the Lord sent him to the brook Cherith.
And the water was flowing and the ravens were bringing him meat and bread,
twice a day.
You think about where did that brook come from?
Right.
The thought just came into my mind.
Is this one of those instances where God broke up
the waters of the deep?
Where? Look up the waters of the deep. Okay yesterday there's no water flowing.
But by the time Elijah gets there, there's an abundant stream flowing.
Because all God had to do was take his thumb and press down on the earth and just make
a little hole in the earth because he knew where the water was at.
That's right.
See the Lord knows what's under your feet.
He knows what's in the ground that you own.
He knows where your feet are walking.
He can steer your feet.
He knows things about this planet you don't know.
He can inspire you to buy a piece of land that has minerals in it or oil
or some natural resource.
He knows where all these things are located.
And so he pour, no he doesn't pour,
the dew falls gently to bring moisture
to the earth from the sky.
But it's all done by wisdom.
And then verse 21, Proverbs 321,
my son, let not them depart from thine eyes,
keep sound wisdom and discretion.
This speaks of the urgency of holding fast to wisdom, to guard God's truth, to let it
remain a constant guide in your life.
My son let not them depart.
That is a father speaking to the children, a parent saying, take heed to what I'm saying to you. Do not let them depart.
What's them? Wisdom and discretion. Right, that's the them.
You've got to, um, vigilantly protect, or you will suffer spiritual loss.
See, let not, that's a proactive command, meaning you and I have to take responsibility for retaining wisdom and neglecting that duty leads to folly and harm. The segment
two of that verse from your eyes. My son let them not depart from where?
From your eyes.
Do not let wisdom and discretion depart from your eyes. So this speaks about unwavering attention.
That saints need to maintain focus on wisdom.
And to prevent worldly distraction.
To not allow any of the temptations of the world to distract you.
Means focusing your eyes. Don't let these things, wisdom and discretion,
depart from your eyes.
Once again, it speaks of the importance of vigilance.
And you wanna know the most, the biggest threat to vigilance is time. As time goes by, you let down your guard.
That's right. You get distracted by the things
Well, you get tired of being vigilant. Yeah
Vigilant vigilance requires energy
Yes, you can't you can't recline on a sofa and be vigilant. I
recline on a sofa and be vigilant.
I mean, a sentry guard can't be in a recliner.
I mean, think about it, President Trump walked into his office in the White House
and the Secret Service agent was spread out on a, you know, on a sofa.
He said, you're not guarding me. You're not paying attention.
See, the times of danger.
Because the secret service agent could say, well, sir,
when this shift started at eight o'clock, I was standing upright.
But I'm tired.
Eight hours have gone by.
I've been standing at attention for eight hours.
See the danger is when we, we get tired of being vigilant.
Right.
when we get tired of being vigilant. Right.
But God says don't let them depart from your eyes.
Keep these.
And then the third segment is keep sound wisdom
in discretion.
Maintain sound wisdom and discretion
because they provide stability and guidance.
Sound wisdom means reliable, godly insight.
Discretion means prudent wise judgment.
And they are complimentary. They go together.
Yes. Sound, wisdom, and discretion.
Discretion is a tough thing. It's a tough thing to learn.
And we aren't taught about it much. And it's still a learning process for me.
It really is. Learning discretion. learning there are times not to speak.
Even if you know the answer, there are times not to speak.
And so-
There are times not to speak, there are times not to speak,
and there are times that when you speak,
you should know what you're going to speak.
Right.
Okay, so just because it's a time to speak,
if you don't have discretion, you won't speak the right thing. Yes. There are times to be quiet. To be discreet, just
to be quiet, have discretion. Um, I mean, all of us have done this.
Have you ever blurted out something at the wrong moment?
I mean, just blurted out the most idiotic thing at the most ridiculous time.
You know, I'm talking about where you you say something, nothing is nothing wrong with
what you say. nothing is nothing wrong with what you say it's the timing right
I
Mean what I'm trying to get an example. I see you're at a wedding and
the pastor says to the couple kiss you may kiss the bride says the groom you may kiss the bride and
You blurt out something about, hey, does anybody know
what time lunch starts? I mean, everybody around you is going to stare at you. They're
going to like, what, why did you just say that? You had no discretion. And you go, what, what, I didn't ask about lunch.
No, it's not about the lunch, it's about the timing.
And everybody might've wanted lunch.
I'm not gonna say it right now.
Right, it's not the right moment.
There are times to be quiet.
There are times to wait until the right moment. Husbands and wives, you should know
the timing of your spouse, the body language, the behavior. You wait. You wait for the right time.
But if you don't have wisdom and discretion, you just say,
well, I'm going to bring it up whenever I want to.
Right. I'm just telling the truth.
Yeah.
But you use the truth like a weapon.
like a weapon.
That's right. So keep sound wisdom and discretion.
Now, verse 22.
So shall they be life unto thy soul and grace to thy neck.
Segment one, so shall they be life.
Hallelujah.
so shall they be life. Hallelujah. This says that wisdom and discretion shall have life-giving power.
Glory. So shall they be life.
Wisdom and discretion will have life-giving power. Yes.
They convey vitality.
They cause your life to flourish.
They foster a vibrant relationship with you and God.
They give your life a purpose, a meaning.
They meaning wisdom and discretion. Yes.
And you know, Rick, I'm firmly convinced wisdom saved my life.
It saved my life.
As I've mentioned before,
I was going through a pretty rough spot back about 2005 to 2008,
nine, 2008 really.
I just determined that I was going to find answers from the Word of God.
I was going to find answers.
I needed wisdom.
Obviously, I lacked it. Obviously, I've made mistakes and obviously, I was going to find answers. I needed wisdom. Obviously, I lacked it.
Obviously, I'd made mistakes and obviously, I drifted off course somehow,
and I needed wisdom. I'm thoroughly convinced, Rick, that if that had not happened, I don't know what my fate would be right now if I had not sought wisdom. And just one word of wisdom gave
you hope for just a little bit more and a little bit more.
And suddenly, instead of crawling, you're walking again.
Instead of walking, you're running again.
And instead of running, you're going full speed again.
So wisdom can save your life.
But you had to take the initiative.
That's right.
Wisdom was there crying out in the streets, oh Doc, Doc, are you listening?
But you had to say, that's me, I heard my name.
I'm interested.
Give me some wisdom.
So you had to take the initiative.
Right.
That's the lesson for all of us. God is making wisdom available to
us, wisdom and understanding and discretion, but he's not going to force it on us. You have to
pursue it. You have to desire it, pursue it, attain it, and retain it. Yes.
attain it and retain it. Yes. All those actions, desiring it, pursuing it, obtaining it and retaining it all require actions by you and me. God makes the promise. If you do these things, this is what you get.
But people go through life and they never do these things.
They get to the end of the road and what is their life? All right. All right.
So verse 22, so shall they be life.
So this is a promise that wisdom and discretion will sustain your life. They will bring vitality to you unto thy soul. The life, the vitality is brought
to your soul. The main impact is the benefit to your soul. The essence of your being, the core of who you are,
and grace to thy neck.
This speaks of the outward beauty of wisdom.
the outward beauty of wisdom.
That around your neck will be a wreath of grace.
And it's visible to others.
It's an ornament placed on you by God.
It conveys favor.
It tells people this person has the favor of God.
Your neck, it says your neck, not somebody's neck, your neck. Yes, grace to thy neck.
It's telling you this promises is for you.
Verse 23, then you shall walk in your way securely.
King James says safely, your foot won't stumble.
So this assures us that our journey,
we can be confident that in our journey,
that is bathhe with wisdom,
God will guide our steps.
We can have that confidence.
Then shall you walk.
Walk means a steady path.
It didn't say, then as you stumble and fall and get back up and stumble, as you walk.
When you think of somebody walking, it's a continuous journey of steps. Active living.
Again, you, it personalizes it.
It's for you, it's for me.
It's speaking to individuals.
Then shall you walk in thy way safely,
in your way securely.
So this is emphasizing the security provided
by wisdom's path.
When you walk, when you walk,
in your way, you shall walk safely, securely.
It is promising divine protection.
Stability, protection.
When you're walking a godly path.
And the third segment is, and thy foot shall not stumble.
Hallelujah.
You will have sure footing.
You're not gonna catch your toe on a rock and fall over.
You're not gonna step into a big hole and break your ankle.
Your foot shall not stumble.
Glory.
So, so,
stumble refers to spiritual and or moral mistakes.
We stumble.
And so now we know why we stumble so if you get a big aching toe in life you got it you have to you just have to apply the medicine here. What does it say? Verse 24. When you lie down, you will not
be afraid. Yes, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
Glory.
How many people toss and turn all night? Can't rest, can't get any sleep.
Worried. Troubled. Can't rest, can't get any sleep, worried, troubled.
It says when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
How many of you want sweet sleep?
How many of you want sweet sleep?
Well, you know where the sweet sleep comes from the peace that we studied earlier in
chapter three.
What was the verse, Doc?
I'm trying to remember which day we talked about peace.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness
and all her paths are peace.
Yes.
Verse 17.
Yes, yes, yes.
All right, so now.
We're being told your sleep shall be sweet.
Your sleep is sweet because of the peace.
Because you're on wisdom's path
and wisdom's path brings peace.
And when you have peace, your sleep is sweet.
sweet. It says, when you lie down, you will not be afraid.
Yes, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.
When, segment one, when you lie down.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid.
So this emphasizes the peace that wisdom brings.
It dispels fear.
It provides security even in vulnerable moments, I know we've all been in bed when a severe lightning storm
is around your house and you hear the cracks of thunder, extremely loud,
and you know the lightning was close.
You see the flash of light through your windows
and they hear the thunder and you know,
that was less than a thousand feet away.
That may have taken down a big tree.
And this continues and you're in bed.
See, you should be able just to go to sleep saying,
the God that I serve, my heavenly father,
directs these lightning bolts.
Yes.
None of them are gonna hit me.
Amen.
None of them are gonna to hit me. Amen. None of them are going to burn down my house.
I'm going to sleep sweetly through this storm.
You shall not be afraid.
When you lie down, you shall not be afraid. When you lie down, you shall not be afraid. Afraid is more than just fear,
it's worry, it's dread. Terror. Terror. I'm sympathetic to elderly people who live alone.
And I think, Doc, especially widows
in their 80s and 90s living alone,
what it must be like to go to sleep at night,
especially if you live in an urban area and there's crime around
you.
Yes.
But God's word says you can go to sleep at night with no fear.
You can have sleep that's sweet.
Yes.
Because you're trusting in the Lord. You're walking in his ways.
Yea, you will lie down. Yes, you will lie down. This is speaking of the certainty
of rest when you are walking in God's ways, yes, you will lie down
You've got a promise of rest
To lie down speaks of intentional rest
It says what you're walking according to God's ways, and you have wisdom and discretion and understanding. You will lie down, you will rest.
And I sleep shall be sweet.
Refreshing, joyful, no nightmares, no tossing and turning.
No nightmares, no tossing and turning. Sleep that restores your soul, restores your body.
It brings pleasure and comfort to you.
A good night of restful sleep.
This is a promise from God's Word. Yes. Verse 25. Well Rick, if I
could add some insight in verse 24, you know a couple weeks ago Memorial Day
weekend was going on and we had some neighbors across the street that decided
to shoot off some fireworks Memorial Day weekend, right. And of course fudge, he's
not a big fan of fireworks. Fact, let's just say he doesn't
like him. And so he was just terrified. I mean, he was just
out of his mind. He didn't he was going back and forth. He was
running through the house.
And finally I grabbed him and had a towel
and wrapped him up in the towel
and just held him real close to my chest.
And we just sat down in the chair
and it took about a minute, but then finally he just went,
and just like, I'm not worried anymore.
I'm not terrified anymore.
My dad has me in his arms.
And within a few minutes, not only was he like just relieved, he started snoring.
You were his security.
That's right.
And his sleep was sweet.
As long as I held him close to my chest
and he could hear my heartbeat, I guess, I don't know.
But he would just lean in into me.
The fireworks were still going on outside, but he was-
He wasn't afraid anymore.
Right.
He wasn't afraid anymore.
I got to thinking, man, this is the way my father is with me.
He just wants to wrap me up in swaddling clothes
and hold me close to his chest.
Yes.
I really think this is ministering to some people
today, people that your sleep is troubled.
And you need to know that good, restful sleep is a promise from God.
Yes. It's a promise. And you once again, you've got to lean into that promise and claim it
and walk in it. Lord, you promised me good restful, peaceful sleep.
I'm not going to allow the world to steal it from me
So you're not restful because you got a problem that you you can't solve and you don't really trust God to solve it
Right Isn't that what it comes down to yes
You're not convinced he can do it?
You have more faith in fear than you have faith in God.
Yes.
Verse 25, don't be afraid of sudden fear.
Neither of the desolation of the wicked when it comes.
Don't be afraid of fear.
Yeah, don't be afraid of sudden fear.
Yes.
When the devil jumps out from behind the curtains and goes booga booga, all right, which he
does to us at different times, he tries to bring sudden fear upon us.
Don't be afraid.
Our unstable world can bring sudden fear.
We are not to have panic attacks.
We are to be free from anxiety. Again, if I have a feeling we have people in this class that you suffer from panic attacks. That's not
Panic attacks don't belong to children of God. Amen.
He gives you rest and peace, freedom from anxiety.
Sudden fear speaks of abrupt danger.
It just appears to startle you, to shake you,
to move you out of your position in Christ.
See, it's a lot easier to be resting in Christ when there's nothing wrong in your life
Amen, but it's the unexpected that comes along. Yes and
Satan says are you sure you're gonna rest in Christ considering what is happening around you right now?
It brings sudden fear, but God says, be not afraid. And so to not be afraid, you have to choose to trust him.
Amen.
Neither of the desolation of the wicked.
This assures a safety from destruction from the wicked. The desolation speaks of the end of the of the wicket. Right.
Do not be afraid of sudden fear and don't be afraid of the end of the wicket.
Why would we fear the end of the wicket?
Well, mostly because the end of the wicked arrives violently. There aren't sweet little angels that come to carry off the wicked.
Right. It is usually administered with extreme prejudice, as we might say.
Yes. Yes.
And it usually comes unexpectedly, suddenly, without warning.
But believers don't have to fear that. They don't have to fear that at all. Why? Because God is with
us. He's with us. The Father is with us. The wicked will inevitably suffer a downfall.
Yes.
And it won't be pretty.
But the word says, don't be afraid when that happens.
Neither the desolation of the wicked when it comes.
And it's going to come.
You can count on it. It's going to come.
The wicked will meet their end according to God's timing.
Look, I'm gonna tell you right now, of anybody on the planet, Earth right now, who is daring God to deal with him is Benjamin Netanyahu.
Don't be afraid of the desolation of the wicked when it comes. You can't blow up hospitals and schools and churches. You can't burn little
kids alive. Yeah, you can't do that and get away with it. God's watching. His day's coming. And it's not going to be pretty when that day arrives.
Verse 26.
For the Lord will be your confidence,
and will keep your foot from being taken.
Hallelujah.
For the Lord shall be.
He is your source of security. He
is the place we put our trust. His presence guarantees strength
and protection and assurance. For the Lord shall be unwavering reliability present and future tense it's not the Lord was the
Lord shall be yes he shall be your confidence.
Shall be, that means certain assurance.
Certain assurance that he will be your protector.
He will be your confidence.
He's the source of your inner strength.
And shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Again, the promise of divine safeguarding and stability against Satan's traps.
He will keep your foot from being ensnared by sin.
It's your foot, not your neighbor's foot. Your foot is personalized protection.
It's a policy written for you.
It's not a group life insurance policy.
It's a policy for you.
It's your foot, your life that he promises to protect.
Well, Doc, that's it for these verses.
This is a great lesson and should be a great word for people who are dealing
with the stress of life, who are fearful about things going
on the world around them, about the bills not being paid,
or any number of things that are just
worrying about the unexpected, especially in the news today.
Of course, we've covered news for more than two decades.
There's always an unexpected crisis that just
happened or is happening or is about to happen.
Yes.
You could have been fearful and be fearful fearful and be fearful what's to come
and just live in that fear.
And some people thrive on that fear, Rick.
That's the problem.
Doc, I think the news junkies that look at news all day long, click, click, click, click,
click, they're going from one thing to another. They're looking for that sudden calamity.
They're, they need it. They anticipate, I've got to have a news story that shocks me today.
Right, that scares me. Like riding a roller coaster or going in the haunted house at the fair.
They want to be scared. Yes, they are addicted to the adrenaline that comes from scary news.
And so when there's no scary news, it's just a boring day. They don't know what to do.
do. Right. Oh, it's see, God is saying, I desire you to live calmly. In peace. At peace. Thinking about him, thinking about his ways. And when calamity comes to the wicked, don't
be afraid. Yes. Don't be afraid of the terror by night nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.
Yes.
We have no reason to fear.
I have a feeling.
I have a feeling.
I have a feeling doc.
I hope it's not true.
I hope it's not an accurate prediction.
But I have a feeling that this summer is going to be a very violent, turbulent summer in the United States.
Because of the immigration raids, I think we're going to have a lot of rioting from city to city.
I think it's just gotten started. And why am I saying this to you? Don't be afraid.
Yes.
Don't be fearful as the news worsens this summer.
Go to sleep at night and be at peace.
Okay?
So if you're in a city where the rioting is taking place, that becomes challenging.
Right.
But wisdom prepares. Wisdom not only prepares mentally and spiritually, but also prepares physically too.
You know, you have a heads up as believers. You know things are coming. You know that these things are happening as we get closer and closer to the return of the Lord. It should not cause you fear. It should cause you to rejoice.
Not rejoice in that it's happening, but rejoice that He's coming. He's on His way.
He's coming. When we see things happening in our country, in the world, we use wisdom
to take proactive steps to prepare for what we see coming.
Amen.
And we maintain our peace and confidence in the Lord.
I have followed Charles Minner for many years. He's a Jewish businessman, very, very smart and perceptive about historical cycles.
He used to work for Goldman Sachs.
And I heard him the other day, I was watching an interview.
And he said, you know, somebody asked me about cycles.
Well, can't we stop cycles?
No, you can't stop cycles.
He said, can you stop the change of seasons?
Right. So, if you're in the fall, and you know that winter always follows the fall,
what should you do? That's what he said, buy a winter coat. Right. You can't
stop the winter. You can fret about it, you can worry about
it. But you can't stop it. But what you can do is buy a winter
coat. That's wisdom. Right. For like the farmer, Rick, who has
cattle. In the summer, we cut the hay. In the fall, we let it dry. And by
the end of fall, we get it baled up and put in the barn. Why? Because winter always comes
every year, and the cows are going to get hungry.
That's right. So you what we're saying is, wisdom will give you,
we will see things happening in the world,
in our countries in the coming weeks and months.
Wisdom will give you knowledge about what to do.
Yes, how to prepare.
But don't lose your peace.
Amen.
See, if you know winter's coming and you don't buy a winter coat well, you're going to be uncomfortable
Yeah, but you had time to buy a winter coat right but you chose to ignore
The instructions of wisdom
So right now,
we live in a very unstable world.
God is giving us peace to go through these times.
So anyhow, tomorrow is Faith Friday.
Yes, sir.
We're gonna be looking forward to Faith Friday. Yes, sir. So, and we're going to be looking forward to Faith Friday and all this year, 2025, on
Fridays we're talking about faith because not only to build up our faith here in the
ministry but to build up your faith too.
Because as the guard used to say, a rising tide raises all ships.
And so if we can increase your faith,
it increases our faith too.
So be sure to tune in to the world.
Yeah, rising faith raises all our ships together.
And so we encourage you to be with us
for a morning man on Friday morning.
We also do communion on Fridays too.
Why?
We're a church, our faith and values fellowship.
And as a church on a weekly basis, we commemorate the Lord's Supper, the Lord's Table, by participating in Communion.
And Communion is open to anybody. You don't have to be a member of Faith and Values Fellowship.
You do need to be a member of the Body of Christ, though.
You need to be a confessing believer in Jesus Christ, and you need to be baptized in water according to scriptures
in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit,
and you're welcome to participate in the Lord's table.
And so we encourage you, if you can, join us live.
And if you can't join us live,
you can always catch us on some of the restreams
and repeats and also the archives of a morning man as well.
And we invite you to do that
in case you ever miss the opportunity to be with us live.
Rick, any final words here before we sign off?
That's it, be blessed.
All right, well, just a reminder that
Morning Manna is a production of Faith and Values Fellowship
and we consider it a privilege to be able to share
the word of God with you through this fellowship
of believers that reaches around the globe each and every day.
God bless you, we love you, and we'll see you tomorrow.
