TRUNEWS with Rick Wiles - Morning Manna - June 25, 2025 - Proverbs 5:1-7 - The Lips of a Strange Woman

Episode Date: June 25, 2025

In today’s sobering Bible study, Rick and Doc walk us through Proverbs 5:1–7, exposing the subtle, seductive dangers of sin cloaked in sweet speech. This isn’t just a warning about immoral women...—it’s a powerful metaphor for any deceptive voice or influence that pulls us off the path of godly wisdom. The duo emphasizes three essential commands: attend to God’s wisdom, turn your ear in humility, and seek His understanding. They explain how the "strange woman" symbolizes folly, foolishness, and worldly temptation—slick, smooth, and sweet like honey, but leading ultimately to death and hell. The lesson also unpacks the word “discretion”—a neutral Hebrew term used for both godly planning and devilish schemes—and challenges each of us to examine our hearts, speech, and influences. Are we preserving God's knowledge with our lips or being lured by seductive speech? Wisdom, clarity, and repentance are the way out—and the Father is urgently calling us to hear Him now.Rick Wiles, Doc Burkhart. Starting point is 00:02:03 goes on and on and on. And generally about 400 people, 350, 400 people join us each weekday morning here in this ministry that's part of Faith and Values Fellowship here in Beaver Beach, Florida. So we welcome you to this live edition of the Bible study. And for those that are listening on repeat, you're welcome as well. We appreciate you taking time out of your day to hear the Word of God. Let's read Proverbs chapter 5 verses 1 through 7. My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding, that thou mayest
Starting point is 00:02:39 regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to hell, her steps take hold, excuse me, her feet go down to death, her steps take hold on hell. Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life,
Starting point is 00:03:08 her ways are movable, that thou canst not know them. Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth." God bless the reading of his word today. Amen. reading this word today. Amen. Proverbs 5, 1, my son, attend unto my wisdom and bow thine ear to my understanding. Three parts of this verse, part 1, my son, attend unto my wisdom. my son attend unto my wisdom.
Starting point is 00:03:52 As we've stated many times in the study of proverbs, this reference to son, it could be son or daughter, it's saying to my child. This is a tender-hearted father speaking to a child, saying, listen, my son, listen, attend to my wisdom. So there's this urgent call to focus on divine wisdom. The first thing is to focus. The second thing is the object of the focus. The call is to pay attention and the instruction is pay attention to wisdom. To just not any wisdom, but to the Father's wisdom. It says, my wisdom, not the wisdom of the world, not the wisdom of political leaders or gurus or philosophers, but the wisdom of God.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Pay attention unto my wisdom, trusting that it will guide you away from the dangers that are in chapter 5. that are in chapter 5. It uses a fatherly tone and the instruction attend, what we already know as we've studied the first four chapters, The word attend means pay attention. Actively focus on the words that I'm going to give you. And bow thine ear, turn your ear. Once again we see an instruction for a deliberate act. Turn, okay? Turn your ear. Turn your ear towards my mouth is what the Father's saying.
Starting point is 00:05:58 Show me that you're listening. The action of turning your head so that the ear is in alignment with the speaker's mouth is an action of humility because the hearer is signaling to the speaker, I take you seriously, I value your words. I'm turning my head so that my ear receives all of the audio coming from your mouth. So it's an instruction that requires an action. See, attend unto my wisdom. That's an instruction. Pay attention. Pay attention. See attend unto my wisdom that's an instruction pay attention pay attention
Starting point is 00:06:48 but turn your ear is another instruction that requires an action you have to turn your head you have to show the speaker that you are actively paying attention and that you place value on the words that the speaker is giving you. And that requires humility. A proud person isn't going to turn his or her head. They're going to do the opposite. They're going to do the opposite. They're going to send off body language that says, I'm not listening.
Starting point is 00:07:28 Doc, you're a student of body language. What are body language signs that a person is not listening and not taking the speaker seriously? Well, generally, it's lack of eye contact and appearance of being distracted. People resting their chin means that they've kind of tuned you out. And so, yeah, there's various ones. And most people can identify, you know, most people have an innate sense that someone's listening or not listening to them.
Starting point is 00:08:04 So those are the easy ones. But there's an action. It's one thing to just hear noise, but it's another thing to intently listen. And that's what Solomon's trying to get across here in the Proverbs, and written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. So this is, you know, God the Father also saying this, to come on, listen intently to what I have to say. There's a lot of people who are hearing me, but are you listening to me? Are you leaning in?
Starting point is 00:08:35 Are you inclining your ear? The body language of folks who are actively listening, that's the easy part. They turn their ear towards you to grab as much information as they can. Or they'll cup their ear or do things like that. There's an action to actively. So the first part is my son attend,
Starting point is 00:09:02 pay attention unto my wisdom, not attention, unto my wisdom, not his wisdom, her wisdom, my wisdom, the father. The father's saying to his child, pay attention to my wisdom. The second part is bow your ear, turn your ear towards me. And then the third part is to my understanding. Turn your ear to what? My understanding.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Seek God's understanding. In other words, decide you wanna know God's point of view. Right. As simple as that. Father, what is your, you know, they've got a point of view, I've got a point of view, what's your point of view? I'll go with yours.
Starting point is 00:10:01 How does the Father see the situation? That's his understanding. The father's viewpoint. You know, you always say every argument has three points of view his point of view her point of view and the truth right well the truth is God's point of view he's the only one that has the truth he's the only ones sees all sides here's everything and can decide what is truth. So we should always be seeking his understanding of every situation in our personal lives, in our professional lives, in our relationships,
Starting point is 00:10:56 in our community, in our nation, in the world. What is God's point of view on this matter? His understanding. It makes life a lot easier if you just say, I only desire one influencer in my life and that's you. Right. So many influencers today. Yes. Influencing people with thoughts that are contrary to the Word of God. Right. So understanding signifies deep discernment.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Understanding is the practical manner to apply wisdom. Verse 2, that thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. In modern English, that you may maintain discretion, that your lips may preserve knowledge. So the first segment that thou mayest regard discretion, maintain discretion. This is emphasizing the purpose of heeding God's wisdom. Follow along, what does verse 1 say? My son attend to my wisdom and bow your ear to my understanding. For what purpose? Why? The why is answered in verse 2. That you may maintain discretion and that your lips may preserve knowledge. That's the purpose of attending to His words. to cultivate discretion, that thou mayest regard discretion. That's the goal of wisdom's instruction.
Starting point is 00:13:14 Now, I'm going to take a moment here to dive down deeper in this word discretion. This is interesting when you look at the Hebrew word. So the term discretion signifies prudent discernment. It underscores the protective role of discretion. This is what's interesting. The Hebrew word for discretion can mean godly purposes or devilish schemes. Right. There are 19 occurrences of this Hebrew word in the Old Testament, the word that's used for discretion. Sometimes it's used for godly purposes, sometimes it's used for satanic wicked schemes. It's the same word So the context alone
Starting point is 00:14:36 How you use the word the context of how the word is used determines whether it is Good or bad, right? To be cherished or to be condemned? Because in every case where the word is used in the Old Testament, it revealed the person's heart's orientation toward or against the Lord? You got it, yes. Right? So the word is neutral.
Starting point is 00:15:14 It can be used in a good context or an evil context. Discretion. Actually, I didn't know that, Doc. My internal definition of discretion was, well, if you're discreet about something, you're using wisdom about what you should talk about, when you should talk about it, that's discretion. But when I was preparing for this lesson, I realized no, the Hebrew word has something different. It's talking about the condition of the person's heart towards the Lord.
Starting point is 00:16:10 towards the Lord. And in other places in the Old Testament it comes to the idea of planning or strategic thinking or to set out a plan, a workflow, but like you said it could be for good or for evil. It's the plan is there. It's a wickedness has a plan, but so does God. God has a plan too. So there's godly discretion and there's satanic discretion. That's right. I did not know that, Doc. This is new to me.
Starting point is 00:16:50 This is new to me, that the word discretion can be used in different contexts. But the word that's used, this Hebrew word that's used for discretion, this really sets the agenda for the entire book of Proverbs. The book of Proverbs uses the word discretion as a virtue. Yes. I'll give you an example. Proverbs 1.4, we already studied it. To impart prudence to the simple knowledge and discretion to the young Proverbs 2 verse 11 discretion guards us. It must be preserved
Starting point is 00:17:40 Discretion guards as Proverbs 2 1 must be preserved's Proverbs 2.1, must be preserved, that's Proverbs 3.21. Right. Discretion empowers our speech, Proverbs 5.2, is where we're at right now. And then we jump ahead in Proverbs, we're gonna find discretion in Proverbs 8,
Starting point is 00:18:03 I wisdom dwell together with prudence and I find knowledge and discretion. Then we go further into Proverbs chapter 12, without it one becomes a man of evil devices. Right. So that's the negative side there. That's the flip side. Now it's an evil schemes. And then over in Proverbs 14, 17, you also see the negative. He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly, and a man of wicked devices or discretion is hated.
Starting point is 00:18:39 That term wicked devices means devilish schemes schemes right a schemer somebody who's scheming so you see the the two different ways this same word discretion is used in in the bible So the word used for discretion challenges every heart. Will our planning align with the Lord, or will our schemes oppose him? I think it's the best way to put it. Same word, discretion. In a positive way, our planning, our purposes are in alignment with God and His word. The same word discretion. But
Starting point is 00:19:50 what we're going to learn in the book of Proverbs is godly planning, godly understand, devilish schemes will perish. That's the bottom line. And the true discretion begins with the fear of the Lord. And it ultimately finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. We see the phrase thou mayest, you may, as we've learned in other Proverbs. This personalizes the instruction. This is not general, hey y'all, listen up Listen up here, I've got to say, no. It's a direct eye contact with you. I'm talking to you. This is the Lord saying to you, not saying to a crowd, although it applies to everybody, but it's spoken individually. Right.
Starting point is 00:21:01 You're not gonna blame somebody else, it's you. You have to take ownership for it. So that thou mayest regard discretion, part two, and that thy lips may keep, may preserve, your lips may preserve. It's emphasizing the importance of guarding your speech. The number one thing that will get us all in trouble are the words that we speak. Words bless or words curse. As simple as that. And words have power. And you can speak something and then instantly regret it came out of your mouth, but it did. So the
Starting point is 00:22:12 message here is over your lips. You know the phrase loose lips sink big ships. What does that mean? Somebody who doesn't, you can't give confidential information to certain people because they have no control over their mouth. Proverbs speaks a lot about controlling your mouth. And it applies to many facets of speech.
Starting point is 00:23:03 And it applies to many facets of speech. And again, it's thy lips, your lips. See, it's personalized again. Not his lips, her lips, your lips. Your lips have to preserve. Preserve what? Well, knowledge. That your lips preserve knowledge. That's the third part of this verse. We are charged by the Lord to preserve His godly knowledge that he shares with us. This is God's wisdom. Preserve it, guard it, keep it, treat it like a treasure. As we've already learned in Proverbs, wisdom
Starting point is 00:23:58 and understanding are greater, have greater value than gold and silver Then guard it And guard it with your lips Verse 3 for the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb and Her mouth is smoother than oil So now we change the topic a little bit. Yep. I'll be honest with you.
Starting point is 00:24:33 I hope I don't offend anybody about how I'm going to say this. But the way I always interpreted this for many years was, hey, stay away from sluts. That's the way I read a script. Oh, okay, stay away from sluts. For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb and her mouth is smoother than a roll. Okay, I get it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:57 Stay away from morally loose women. You'll be okay. There's more to this. Right. There's more to this. Right. There's more to this. I mean, that's at the surface level. At surface level. But the woman with mouth smoother than oil, this is a metaphor.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Right. Because men may think, well, this doesn't apply to me because I avoid morally loose women. And women may think it doesn't apply to me because I am NOT morally loose. In both cases men and women are missing the Proverbs lesson. Right. This is not about a slut. It's about the seductive power of sinful speech. There you go. That's the message of this verse. Yes. Just as wisdom was portrayed as a woman in previous chapters. Now evil strategies, evil intent is portrayed as another woman, a strange woman. And that's the real meaning on this. And the
Starting point is 00:26:13 sinful speech is not necessarily confined to sexuality. Correct. People who would never succumb to sexual temptation can easily fall for temptation to acquire wealth, quick gain, to covet somebody's assets. The seductive power of sinful speech. It's the sinful speech that seduces people to do something they would not ordinarily think or do on a given day. That's the warning, be careful. Be careful.
Starting point is 00:27:04 You may be extraordinarily strong in certain areas of life, but you weaken something else. Amen. And what this is saying is Satan will use seductive speech to lure you in, to lure you in, okay? To entice you in. Whatever that weakness is. It could be, again, obviously it's a lust for sex, but then it's also a lust for material gain, a lust for power, a lust for prestige, a lust for honor.
Starting point is 00:27:39 There's, again, all kinds of things. Satan will use seductive speech. The proverb is painting the picture of an attractive sexy woman saying, hey, come over here, I wanna talk to you. It's just a metaphor. So it's admonishing us to be wary of temptations allure. I've been in business meetings where I've heard a businessman use
Starting point is 00:28:23 seductive speech to entice you to go down a road in business that you know is wrong. Seductive words. Appealing to that base desire for quick gain. Oh yeah. Hey, what, hey, it's, this isn't, what I'm proposing, it's not illegal, it's, you know, I mean, we, look, I've got lawyers, we can make this work. Well, if you have to have lawyers to
Starting point is 00:29:00 make something work, then it's probably crooked. Because if it's not crooked, you just do the action. You just carry out the business deal, and you don't have to structure something to conceal the real motives. But it's seductive speech. Right.
Starting point is 00:29:28 But it's seductive speech. It's speech that entices you to drop your guard, to forget about wisdom, to put wisdom aside and say, right now, all I can see and hear is what this person's offering me. Then the second segment is of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb, or modern English is of an adulterous drip honey. So for the lips of a strange woman, drop as a honeycomb. Her lips are dripping with honey. Right. Sweetness.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Not, not saliva. Not white foam. Sweet honey. Satan's not going to display something that repulses you, he's going to display something that entices you closer. Oh, look at that honey. That's sweet honey. And of course, again, as a metaphor, a metaphor of an attractive, seductive woman with honey on her lips saying, come closer and taste it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Just taste it. If you get that close, you're almost all the way in. So this segment is emphasizing the deceptive sweetness of sinful temptation. It always looks, smells, and sounds sweet before it goes down. Then it turns bitter. Right. Now, in this proverb, folly, foolishness, is personalized as a tempting woman. That's who this woman is, folly. This is a metaphor.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Folly has been personalized, personified is the word I wanna use. Folly has been personified as a tempting woman, but it could also be a tempting man. It doesn't matter. It's a metaphor. The focus is on temptation and folly as a pair. Temptation and foolishness. They're a team. You attempt it to be a fool. So the phrase of a strange woman drop as a honeycomb. It portrays temptation as an enticingly sweet substance. It's teaching us that sin's appeal is that it masks its destructive nature.
Starting point is 00:33:02 If you had, I mean, if you had, you know, people that want to poison someone, they don't just give a spoonful of arsenic to somebody. They give them a spoonful of arsenic soaked in honey. Right. Or little drops of arsenic in lots of honey. Yes. They conceal the deadly bitter poison in sweet honey. So the honeycomb is the seductive pleasure. That's the honeycomb.
Starting point is 00:33:54 And that's dangled in front of your eyes. Look at this honeycomb. It's just dripping. Oh my, this is so good. Just taste it. But the honeycomb represents the seductive pleasure that the tempter is offering you. So the strange woman, the adulteress, is the source of the temptation. But it's folly, it's foolishness. It's foolishness that's tempting you. Hey, stop walking on that path of wisdom.
Starting point is 00:34:36 Come over here and walk on the path of foolishness. We've got honey over here. This is making sense, how the devil works in our lives, what we need to watch out for. The third segment is, and her mouth is smoother than oil. Not only is her lips dripping with sweet honey, but her mouth is covered in olive oil. Her tongue, the inside of her mouth, everything is covered in olive oil. It's just smooth. There's no friction. This is an easy, easy glide into folly.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I think it represents the slick persuasiveness of sinful speech, luring you closer and closer could take months, could take years. Satan is a patient devil. He'll work his scheme little by little. Just stop and think right now. Is there anybody in your life that you know, really deep down in your heart, you know is luring you
Starting point is 00:36:46 the wrong direction you know so let the Holy Spirit speak to you right now is there somebody in your life he's like I really need to get away from that person that person is coming at me day after day with tempting words, join with me in this project, join with me in this activity. Think about it, let the Lord speak to you about it. Or ask the Lord, guard my heart, if such a person shows up, I'll immediately recognize this person.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Verse four, but her end is bitter as warm wood, sharp as a two-edged sword. But her end is, or the modern English, but in the end she is. This is talking about the outcome of Folly's foolishness is seduction. Right. May have honey on the lips now, olive oil inside her mouth, but at the end, there's wormwood. It's toxic.
Starting point is 00:38:16 It's warning us against short-sightedness. Not you know deliberately not seeing what is obvious. Bitter as wormwood. Right. This is telling us the bitter result of sinful indulgence. It describes the outcome of sin. And what is that? What is that outcome? Well, it's not just bitterness in this life, but when you see the word wormwood in scripture, it's generally associated with judgment. Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:10 And so the bitter end is judgment, the judgment of God. That's the ultimate destination, not just in this life, but in the life to come. So wormwood is a, is a bitter toxic plant. So wormwood is a bitter toxic plant. Bitter means you will regret. You will regret falling for the smooth, tempting words of the tempter. You'll regret it. We're not talking here about what God does to the tempter.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Okay. That's a whole other story. That's a whole other story. People who deliberately tempt and lure people to commit sin. We're not even talking about that. This is talking about if you are the victim, you are the participant in the scheme. You put down your guard, you fell for it. This is talking about the consequences for you. But this verse right now, verse four, is talking about the tempter. But her end is. This is talking about the seductive woman,
Starting point is 00:40:49 who is the metaphor for Satan's temptations. So in this verse, verse four, it is referring to the person who was tempting the righteous. Her end shall be as bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword." Sharp as a two-edged sword, it's referring to the destructive power of foolishness, the consequences of being foolish. The two edged sword,
Starting point is 00:41:35 that's speaking of lethal precision of this weapon. That it has a devastating impact, not only on the person who fell for the temptation, but for the tempter. Right. See, most of Proverbs 5 is talking about the righteous person falling for temptation and the danger of it. But verse four is talking about what happens to the tempter. And it's devastating. Right. And if you associate with that, guess what? Your end is the same.
Starting point is 00:42:27 Yes. Because that person will drag you along with them. Where is he or she going, this tempter? And again, it's not just a female. It's a metaphor. It can be a man. it can be a woman, it doesn't matter. It's a metaphor. Verse 5, her feet go down to death, her steps take hold on hell. The World English Bible says, her feet go down to death, her steps lead straight to shoal. Her feet go down. This is a downward trajectory. Right. You don't slide, you walk down.
Starting point is 00:43:21 Yes. Got it doc. She's not sliding on her butt. She's walking. Where? Straight to hell. This is a downward incline taking you lower and lower and lower and the destination is hell. and lower and lower and the destination is hell. Spiritual death, not just dying in this life, but dying forever. And that is the devil's number one intention to take people to hell. Why does he desire to take people to hell? Because besides he's a supreme narcissist, he's the father of narcissism, and narcissists enjoy inflicting pain on people as part of their fun. So Satan is the supreme narcissist. But what's the real motivation for Satan taking
Starting point is 00:44:20 souls to hell? His desire to inflict pain on Almighty God. That's the reason. It is revenge. You kicked me out of heaven. I will get even with you. I'll take your favorite little boys and girls here made in your likeness and your image, and I'll take them to hell with me.
Starting point is 00:44:46 I'll make you hurt. That's what he's after with God. I'll make you hurt. I'm gonna take your children with me to hell. So this is her feet. This is the tempter. Her feet go down a downward trajectory, headed towards hell. She's not sliding, she's not rolling, she's walking.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Right. This is an inevitable decline in the tempter's path. There's deliberate movement, she's walking. She's going down, down, down, down, down. And when she gets to the bottom, the sign says, Welcome to Hell. No way out. Her goal is to take people with her. And you look around, go, Hey, this says hell. What am I doing here? Oh, you walked here with me. I didn't know we were going to hell. Well, you should have is in the Word of God.
Starting point is 00:45:59 And it says, her feet go down to death. Where's her feet taking her to death? Right. The eventual outcome of long-term, persistent, consistent, unrepentant sinful choices. A lot of words in there. Long-term.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Persistent. You're persisting at doing consistent. You're doing the same thing over and over and over, over a long term and there's no repentance. The eventual outcome will be fatal. This is over years of a person's life, decades, decades. Satan's got time. Doesn't care how long it takes you to walk yourself to hell. That's right.
Starting point is 00:47:06 You just want to make sure you're on the path to hell. You still walking downward? Yay, go. Go boy, go. When he gets upset is when you wake up and realize, hey, I'm, I notice this path is going downward. I smell sulfur. Hey, I see that, I smell sulfur. I don't like this, I'm leaving, I'm turning around. That's when he panics.
Starting point is 00:47:38 Oh, hey, wait a minute, where are you going? I'm getting out of here. See, that's repentance, You can you can repent and turn repentance. See, people misunderstand the word repentance. Repentance doesn't mean saying I'm sorry. Repentance means a change of thinking in your mind. Yes. Which leads to a different direction. That is repentance. Just saying I'm sorry is not repentance.
Starting point is 00:48:20 True repentance means there is a change in your thinking and a change in your direction. You have turned. Hey, I got a different thought about this. I'm seeing it your way now, Father. I'm going a new direction. God says that's repentance and if he sees that he stamps Approved on it and there's nobody on earth that can do anything about it. God has said that's that's repentance There will be people demanding God you've got to punish that person. You've got to bring this person down. You've got to crush this person. God says, no, he or she repented. I'm satisfied. That's all I was looking for.
Starting point is 00:49:12 True repentance. What would be the purpose of doing all these things you want done? What would come out of it? Satisfying your lust for revenge. God's desire is repentance. Did the person change his or her mind and did they go in a new direction? If he sees it, he says, done, finished, I accept it.
Starting point is 00:49:38 And now he says, I don't even remember the sin that they committed. Oh, that really sets the religious people off. How did you forget? What do you mean you forgot? You can't forget. Well, he does. And they feel like it's their job to remind them.
Starting point is 00:49:56 To remind them and to tell other people and to see that's all flesh-based religion. Yes, it's flesh-based religion and if they continue in that kind of thing God will deal with that kind of mentality. He'll have to give them some lessons in life. This death is both physical and spiritual. It's speaking of the gravity of the final end of foolishness. It says on two, okay? To death, to death, okay? That tells us there's a specific destination. You're going to. If I say I'm going to, you're waiting for me to give the last word. To what? Well, my destination. In this case, the destination is hell. It says in the third part of this verse, her steps take hold inescapable ruination.
Starting point is 00:51:29 It's going to happen. If you continue on the path with no repentance, and repentance means a change in mind, a change in behavior, a change in direction, it's telling you if you stay on that downward trajectory, you will be delivered into hell. Right. That's where she's taking you. Her steps that take hold on hell, her steps lead straight to shoal. Hell, shoal, same thing, it's the ultimate judgment. Proverbs 6, I got to finish up here, Proverbs 6, lest thou shouldst ponder the path of life, her ways are movable, that thou canst not know them.
Starting point is 00:52:28 World English Bible, she gives no thought to the way of life, her ways are crooked, and you cannot know them. Right, so back in chapter four, we were told to ponder on wisdom. we were told to ponder on wisdom. This strange woman, that's not even a thought. Wisdom and discretion, that's just out the window. She doesn't ponder on it. That's what it's trying to say here. There is no pondering on wisdom. She doesn't ponder on the path of life. system. She doesn't ponder on the path of life. She gives no thought to the path of life. Doesn't enter his or her mind the path of life, just pursuit of pleasure. So it speaks of negligence. Foolish people are negligent. They do not think of the things, they do not pay attention to that which leads to life.
Starting point is 00:53:33 She gives no thought to the way of life. It's not in her mind, not in his mind. Doesn't enter their thinking. Am I on the path of life or the path of death? It doesn't enter their mind. Her ways are movable. Modern English says her ways are crooked. Yes. It's talking movable crooked. It's talking about the instability of her ways.
Starting point is 00:54:09 Right. Her move. See, God's ways are rock solid. They don't move. Right. The devil will just he find where the justing things. As long as you end up in hell. Her ways are movable.
Starting point is 00:54:27 Her ways are unstable. They're crooked. They're full of deceit. Segment three of verse six, that thou can not know them, and you cannot know them. This says that once you get on this path long enough, if you're on that path long enough, you will not even be able to know you're on the path. Yeah. Whereas the contrast is with godly wisdom, you can know. You can know. But what does sin offer?
Starting point is 00:55:12 What does this seduction offer? Confusion? Moving ground? Whereas the Word of God says it's a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. It's a sure thing. It's not constantly sinking. I was thinking about when I was a young boy, there'd be a fair that'd come to town and they'd have the mirror house or the scary house or whatever it was.
Starting point is 00:55:43 There was always that part in the house of mirrors, whatever it might be, where the floor is shifting. Right? You have part of the floor going one direction, other part of the floor going... And the goal, of course, was to get all the way across, you know, without falling down and stuff. That when I think of this verse, that's the image that comes to my mind. That sin is constantly shifting the ground, but with the Word of God, it's solid, it's sure, and it's secure. So Doc, when you were in that county fair, house of horror, or house of mirrors, and the floor shifted, The purpose of the shifting of the floor was to bring about confusion. Right. You didn't know where you were walking. Didn't know where to put your foot.
Starting point is 00:56:35 That's it. There was confusion. Wisdom brings clarity, but foolishness brings confusion. One of the main purposes of deception is to bring confusion into your life. Unpredictability. And you cannot know them. This is one of the scariest verses here because it says you get to the place you can't know. No implies understanding. The lack of understanding says you're confused, you're deceived, you can't even figure out where you're at. That's right. You just continue in a house of mirrors. Verse seven, hear me now therefore, ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Starting point is 00:57:39 Hear me now therefore. Once again, here's this urgent call. Hear me. Hear me now. Not tomorrow. Hear me now. Listen to me right now. Pay attention and climb your ear. Bow your ear towards me now. It's speaking of the immediacy of the appeal of the Father. This is urgent. Listen up now. Hear. Active engagement. Now, the critical timing of the call. I've given you prior warnings.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I've talking to you about other things in Proverbs. Now, now right now listen to me. Now of course, oh ye children. Once, here's a father talking to his sons and daughters. And depart not from the words of my mouth, the steadfast adherence to God's wisdom. Be loyal. Be loyal to God's words. Don't deviate from God's words. Be loyal. Show fidelity to the instructions of the Father. This is divine authority, the words of my mouth well the my is speaking of God the Father be loyal do not turn away from the words of your father's mouth okay we're uh eight minutes over so let's let's wrap it up doc and, and pick it up. Starting point is 01:01:07 All right, I see a lot of yeses. Good. Good. Yeah, I was glad we were able to get across the point that this is more about the forward woman, but about really forward wisdom, worldly wisdom. What seems right, there's a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof is death. Kim says it's like a bomb dropping in her living room. Wow. Look, the word affects the teacher and the students. Yes.
Starting point is 01:01:45 Good. I'm glad. I'm glad it's having an impact, immediate impact. Be blessed today. Continue to pray for John Mark. Yes. He's going to be recovering for quite some time, but the Lord can speed up that recovery. Again, I thank the Lord for protecting him,

Starting point is 01:02:30 God bless you. See you tomorrow. God bless you. We love you.
