Good morning, everybody.
Welcome to morning manna.
It is Monday.
So it's Monday morning manna.
A beautiful day here in Florida.
It's raining.
It's our springtime rain, which we will have for the next probably two months.
And it's just it makes Florida.
Florida is green all the time,
but it is super green after the rains.
Yes, and we desperately need it right now too.
Yes, we do.
They've actually had fire warnings in this county
because it's been so dry.
Anyhow, we don't want you to be spiritually dry.
Amen.
That is a danger all of us can fall in
where we have spiritual dryness
and we stay in the word to keep us walking
the straight and narrow path.
Today we're in chapter 15, the book of Romans.
We're going to begin with verses 8 through 13.
We may be able to go all the way to verse 21.
I'm starting today with trying to reduce my notes so that we cover more territory and
get through each book of the Bible faster.
We've been kind of just, we just take our time.
Last year we spent the entire year in the book of Matthew
and we're now in Romans and this is,
we're approaching the halfway mark of the year
and we're still in the book of Romans.
So we're gonna try to get a little bit faster per chapter.
So Doc, I'm gonna have you read Romans 15,
verses eight through 13.
And if we have time, we'll then continue to verse 21.
Let's pray.
Yes.
Almighty, Almighty God, our heavenly father,
and we love you dearly,
and we thank you for all the good things
that you bestow upon us.
For all good things come from you, Father.
And the greatest things that you bestow upon us
are forgiveness, mercy, grace, and your love.
Thank you for being our Father.
We know you are our God, you are our maker, our creator,
but we need you as our Father.
And we humbly request the presence of your Holy Spirit
to take charge of this morning manna Bible study,
to lead us, enlighten us, illuminate us, to understand your word and to see the greatness,
the magnificence of your son Jesus Christ and his glorious kingdom in his name Jesus,
we pray. Amen. Amen. And good morning,
everyone here in the eight o'clock hour on the East Coast of the United States for the
Monday edition of Morning Manna. And I send greetings to our friends in the Middle East,
Malaysia, Russia, Philippines, South Korea today, just a few of the places around the world that
are checking in as well as the all across the United States and Canada today. Welcome here to Morning
Manor. We're reading the Romans chapter 15. I'm starting at verse 8 today, reading
verses 8 through 13 if you'd like to follow along with me. I'm reading from
the King James Version and starting with verse 8 here and it reads,
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of
God to confirm the promises made unto the fathers. Verse 9, and that the Gentiles might glorify God
for his mercy as it is written, for this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles and sing
unto thy name. And again he saith rejoice ye Gentiles with his people.
And again praise the Lord all ye Gentiles and laud him all ye people.
And again Isaiah said there shall be a root of Jesse and he that shall rise to
reign over the Gentiles and him shall the Gentiles trust. Verse 13, now the God of hope,
fill you with all joy and peace and believing
that ye may abound in hope
through the power of the Holy Ghost.
Praise God for his word today.
Amen.
Romans 15 verse eight, World English Bible.
Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision
For the truth of God that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers
The phrase minister of the circumcision
Speaks of Jesus's role in
serving the Jewish people,
fulfilling God's covenant
regarding God's promises to Israel.
So verse eight declares that Jesus Christ
served the Jewish people.
He fulfilled God's truth.
He confirmed the promises,
and that is an example for all disciples.
Oh, there's a theme of unity here.
For the truth of God, that phrase
emphasizes that the ministry of Jesus Christ upholds God's faithfulness for
the truth of God.
Yes.
And it's encouraging us as disciples to trust the word for the truth of God. To confirm the promises made unto the fathers
refers to God's pledges to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, all fulfilled in Christ. Do not listen to people telling you that God has yet to fulfill all the promises.
Yes. They were fulfilled in Christ. That is, to me that's just blasphemy really,
because it discounts everything Christ has done by saying it's at some point in the future.
No, Paul is making it clear. He fulfilled it. It's done. He fulfilled every promise to the
fathers, every single one of them. And they reduced the promises to material things like land.
Yes. When Christ has given us the kingdom, a heavenly city, it's not tourism, it's a heavenly city.
So by fulfilling the promises that God made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Jesus unites
Jews and Gentiles into one body.
Again, that's...
Christian Zionism contradicts that teaching.
Right, and neither is there a class structure in the Kingdom of God either.
There's not like the first class section and economy class. First class being the Jews and the economy class
being the Gentiles. No, we're all first class. We're all part of the promise
that God has made. He fulfilled his promises to the Jewish people, fulfilled
the promises to the prophets, to the fathers, and now he's
fulfilling his promises to the Gentiles, and has been since his resurrection.
Yes.
And before I move on to verse 9, I would say verse 8 also reveals the humility of Jesus
Christ as a servant.
He carried out his assignment, and he fulfilled the promises.
But he served the people, and he made a way for both Jews and Gentiles to be one,
to be united, no division, no strife. Amen.
And by serving as Jesus Christ did, then we as disciples should shine as his witnesses
and show the world the faithfulness of God.
See, if you don't believe God fulfilled his promises
to Israel, how are you going to testify
to unbelievers that God is faithful?
Right.
And I would go so far as saying, how can you believe for salvation?
If you believe he hasn't fulfilled his word yet.
Because that was the whole purpose of his promises, redemption of mankind. I mean, it really, there's a lot that hangs on this.
Yes. Verse 9, And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy, as it is written,
therefore I will give praise to you among the gentiles and sing to your name
so verse 9 reveals that God's mercy enables gentiles to glorify him hallelujah he's a he's
identifying his attribute that allows us non-jews to glorify him, and that attribute
is mercy.
There will never be a day, as long as you live on this planet, that you don't need
his mercy and his grace.
Never. In the moment you get cocky in your attitude thinking you're beyond
that need, you're going to be brought to a place where you are pleading for mercy and
grace. So be merciful to everyone. Show grace and kindness to everyone. There'll be a day you need it.
Amen. Don't be cocky. Don't be arrogant. Don't be full of pride. Don't think,
oh, I would never be like that person.
You're setting yourself up for a fall.
The phrase Gentiles might glorify God.
It speaks of this universal call to worship God,
inviting everybody to celebrate God's grace.
The Gentiles, you have the Jews and you have the Gentiles.
The Jews are this extremely small, I mean, almost miniscule,
microscopic slither of humanity.
Yes. And there's evidence that this was God's plan all along, all through the Old Testament.
Yes.
All through the Old Testament.
Paul's quoting Psalm 1849 here, but I could give you 10 other verses that shows,
let the earth praise my name, let the nations declare my glory, a light to the Gentiles,
like Isaiah said, over and over and over again.
People that don't see that refuse to see it.
The establishment of Israel and the naming of the Jewish people as his
chosen people was not the end.
It was the path.
chosen people was not the end, it was the path.
The end is that all of humanity is brought into the kingdom of God.
Yes, hallelujah, praise God.
I mean, what's being taught today is that
the state of Israel and the Jewish race
is God's entire plan.
That's not true.
They were the tools.
They were the pathway he was using to get to the entire human race.
So that the Gentiles might glorify God
represents this universal call from God to all of humanity. Come, come and
worship me. Let me be your God for His mercy. And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy?
This is underscoring that it's God's kindness,
not human merit, not human righteousness, not human anything.
It's God's kindness, his mercy.
We are worshiping Him for His mercy.
Why? Because you need it.
You needed it the day you got saved.
You need it today.
You need it tomorrow.
You'll need it on the day He comes back.
There will never be a day
that you don't need mercy and grace.
Every day, every day I'm learning more and more how much I need mercy and grace and how
much more I need to soften my heart to show mercy and grace to others. Amen. I can relate to that too.
God should be softening us at all times.
Tenderizing us. How do you tenderize a piece of meat?
Two ways. You either add something to it, an acid, something acidic, or you beat it.
So which one do you want?
Those are the only two options.
Which one do you want? See, I use the word one. Which one do you want? Which one do you see? I use the word one. Which one do you desire?
You either get burned or you get beat. Yeah, do you which one are you choosing?
Or there's a third third option you can actively do it yourself
That's the one we never choose.
But if you're smart, you'll work at it every day.
And ask Lord, where was it today that I didn't show kindness and mercy and grace to somebody.
He quotes Psalm 18 verse 49, I will confess to thee among the Gentiles.
Hallelujah. That shows Jesus Christ praising God among the nations, not just Israel.
Who is confessing to thee among the Gentiles?
I will confess to thee among the Gentiles.
This is Christ praising God the Father among all the nations of the earth.
So what these verses are telling us is that God's mercy
to the Gentiles fulfills his promises to mankind.
It's not just for the hebra's
remember
The promises god made to abraham abraham wasn't a jew
When god made the promises to abraham
They were not confined to just jews right he hadn't even been circumcised yet
precisely Right, he hadn't even been circumcised yet precisely
So they ought to be humble that they were shown mercy
He's he's a
Encouraging us to trust his faithfulness, to examine our worship, to make sure that
it reflects gratitude. Gratitude for what? Mercy and grace. Do you ever notice that most
of the old hymns are really about mercy and grace. What's amazing grace? What is that about?
It saved a wretch like I? Grace, grace, God's grace. Yes. Grace that will pardon and cleanse within. Oh, the blood of Jesus.
Yes.
Just think of the hymns.
Why did the older Christians
who were not with us anymore,
why did they sing hymns about grace and mercy and the blood?
We sing songs about you.
Listen to these watered down, superficial songs. They could be love songs.
They could be love songs about your girlfriend.
Right. I call them God is my girlfriend songs.
There you go.
That's what they're like.
There's no depth to them. You know why? Because most
of the Christian music labels are now owned by non-Christians. And they're in it for the money. And they want, I take that word, see,
they desire, they instruct their music label executives
to give contracts to musicians who have songs
that would appeal to the widest group of people looking for spiritual songs.
It's a marketing strategy. Marketing.
It's time for the Holy Spirit to write new songs.
songs. He's looking for songwriters and musicians to sing through them. Praise God.
And what's he going to sing? we're going to have to go through
the fourth turning crisis to get to that place. But it's coming. Verse 10. And again, he says, rejoice you Gentiles
with his people.
Now he's quoting Deuteronomy 32 verse 43,
which says, rejoice you Gentiles with his people.
Yes.
Wait a minute, that's Moses.
Deuteronomy 32, that's Moses. Deuteronomy 32, that's Moses. Moses was saying, rejoice you Gentiles with
his people. Moses knew that God was going to bring the Gentiles into his people? Yes. Yes, yes, he did.
Moses saw the big plan, the big picture.
Amen.
Abraham saw it.
Every time Abraham went outside at night, looked into the sky and saw billions of stars,
he remembered the promise, you'll have descendants more than these stars.
Not nations, plural, nations.
Nations.
Not nation, nations, plural.
So, rejoice ye Gentiles with his people, that speaks of God's desire for all nations to
worship him, not just individually as nations, but to worship him together.
Praise God, yes.
Humanity, to worship him with one voice.
Do you ever stop and think about what our heavenly father desires?
Each of us have desires.
What does he desire?
What does he yearn for?
What is he waiting for?
He's waiting for all his children to come together and sing to him in one voice.
He's just going to eat it up.
He's going to eat it up.
It's what his heart desires.
So the command to rejoice is an instruction to Christians
to express their heartfelt joy in God's salvation.
And this should be uniting saved Jews with saved Gentiles who are saved into the kingdom. That's what it should be doing.
With his people. All right, so this is speaking of the inclusion of the Gentiles into God's family.
Again He says, rejoice you Gentiles with His people.
The door is open, come in.
Everybody can come into the family of Abraham.
What happened after Calvary is that the non-believing Jews were removed from Israel,
and only the believing Jews remained in Israel.
Again, don't think of it as a geographical
nation. Think of it as a people, a family. And don't think of it as, well, Israel was here
and it ended and the church began. The church has always been there, and Israel is still Israel. Israel
are his people. Who are his people? Not someone genetically his people, but by
faith. Israel was a church, and the church was Israel. It was always by his people.
Yeah, so it's not replacement theology or anything like that, like who we
sometimes get accused of, and there's nothing was replaced.
Nothing else. Yeah.
The only replacement that's going on is the Zionist replacing the cross with the
star of referendum. Uh, Jesus with the state of Israel.
That that's real replacement theology right there.
But I'll tell you this doc, the cross displaced people amen that's right if you if you refuse to bow down to
the cross and accept jesus christ as messiah you were
displaced if you were if you were jew who said i
refused to believe that then you were removed from israel
but the door is wide open to come back in yes
You're not it's not lost forever. You just
displace
Temporarily set set outside
Saying the only way to come back in is to bow your knee
At that cross and confess that that man who hung on that cross is the Son of God.
And if you're unwilling to do it, you cannot be a citizen of Israel.
So this verse is teaching us that all disciples celebrate God's faithfulness
and that extends to all nations.
Yes.
And it's the Holy Spirit who ignites the joy in us.
You can't work up joy.
It's Holy Spirit inspired joy.
Verse 11, and again, praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles and laud him.
So the phrase, praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles,
this comes from Psalm 117, verse one.
Again, what does it speak of?
It speaks of God's heartfelt desire for global worship.
The psalmist said, praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles.
That's the entire planet.
Yes, all ye Gentiles.
God desires all the nations to praise him.
To celebrate his universal call to salvation, to worship, to fellowship.
It's open to everybody.
The command of praise, that is an instruction, that is a commandment to all people to express from their heart their adoration for the Lord,
their appreciation for his forgiveness, his mercy, his grace.
for his forgiveness, his mercy, his grace.
All ye people, again, those words are saying, God is inviting every human being on the planet to come
and worship him.
It's back to this, you know, this theological debate about free will and election.
God has given everyone a free will to be part of the elect. I couldn't say it any better Rick, that's it.
Yes, everybody has the free will to be a member of the elect.
Verse 12.
And again Isaiah says there will be the root of Jesse who arises to rule over
the Gentiles in him the Gentiles will hope. So now he's quoting Isaiah again to identify Jesus Christ as the root of Jesse. All Jews knew about the root of
Jesse. They knew the Messiah Christ is the root of Jesse.
And again, that's this call for universal praise,
adoration.
The root of Jesse refers to Jesus Christ who was David's descendant and that fulfilled God's promise of a Messiah.
Yes.
He that shall rise to reign.
What a beautiful phrase.
Yes.
Rise to reign. Yes. Rise to reign.
Rise to reign.
This speaks of the authority of Jesus Christ over all nations.
That all humans must submit to his lordship.
And they will at some point on the day of judgment every knee shall bow, every tongue shall
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He will get that adoration, that submission. He'll get that
submission. Unfortunately billions will be cast into the lake of fire.
Yes.
But the last words that they will say is, He is Lord.
Those will be their last words.
Can you see the majestic, majestic Christ he rises to reign?
Hallelujah.
He's above the entire earth every eye can see him.
He has risen to reign and every human on earth those alive at the time he comes
and those who came out of the grave.
Think about people who've been dead for 5,000 years.
They'll come out of their grave
and look up and see Jesus who has
rise to reign. He's hovering over the planet. Praise God. And billions
and billions and billions of people will drop to their knees and proclaim Jesus is Lord.
Those who never said it prior to their departure from this world
will be taken away to the lake of fire.
I'm of the belief
that when Jesus descended to the place of the dead after his crucifixion, the three days before, between the crucifixion and the resurrection, I'm of the belief that
he preached to those people.
He gave them the opportunity to believe on him.
I'm hoping, Doc, I'm hoping
that there are billions of people who were saved.
We don't think that way.
How wicked would you have to be to refuse to believe on jesus if you're if you're in
Hades you've been there for a couple thousand years
How wicked do you have to be to continue to resist god
If if the son of god shows up in Hades and says look they just crucified me I'm gonna give you this one opportunity
Repent of your sins believe on my name and I'm taking you out of here
How how wicked would you have to be to turn that down Maybe Maybe they all left. I would have been running for the door. Get me out
of here. Wouldn't it be great to find out that almost everybody was saved.
That's why the new earth is going to be so big.
He's saving the nations.
Right.
He's fulfilling his promise to Abraham.
He that shall rise to reign, it speaks of the authority of Jesus Christ over all nations.
In Him shall the Gentiles trust.
It speaks of Jesus Christ as the source of hope for all.
Yes.
And so Jesus isn't just King of Israel. He's king of all.
Yes.
Jews and Gentiles alike, He's king over everybody and everything. He's not just a king for those song they does, that's my king. Yes, he's your king.
He is your king. That's my king. Verse 13, now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and
peace in believing that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.
in the power of the Holy Spirit.
So Paul is praying that the God of hope,
he's not the God of despair, he's not the God of depression, he's the God of hope.
That he fills disciples with his joy and his peace
through their faith,
and his peace through their faith which will then empower them to overflow with hope that comes from the Holy Spirit. Yes. I read this whole sentence again verse
13. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope in the power of
the Holy Spirit.
Yes.
You got to break down all these sentences.
It's great verse.
In segments and then understand each segment. So the God of hope is the source
of all hope. He's the God of hope. Does hope have a God? Yes! There's only one God
over hope. Yes. Does Satan give hope to anybody? Hopelessness. He's the opposite. He's anti-Christ.
He brings hopelessness. He brings despair. But this verse says that the God of hope wants Yes. How trust his promises, trust his word to fill you with all joy and peace, not some,
not a little, not most, all, to fill you blessings of faith in believing.
This speaks of the faith in Jesus Christ that produces this joy and peace.
Abound in hope speaks of disciples overflowing with confident expectation that
God performs his word.
The power of the Holy Spirit speaks of the Spirit's role in giving and sustaining hope.
It's the Holy Spirit that fills disciples with hope and guides them to encourage one another.
All right, Doc, we're 42 minutes into the hour
and we've completed those verses.
You want to go for the next one?
Sure.
Let's jump in.
So how far you want to go?
Well if once you start, I prefer to go all the way to the end.
Let's see verses 14 through 21. I prefer to go all the way to the end.
Let's see, verses 14 through 21. All right, I'll go ahead and read here.
Verse 14, I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren,
that you also are full of goodness,
filled with all knowledge,
able also to admonish one another.
Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly
unto you in some sort as putting you in mind because of the grace that is given to me of God,
that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the
gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being
sanctified by the Holy Ghost. I have therefore aware of I make glory
through Jesus Christ and those things which pertain to God. For I will not dare
to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought of me to make
the Gentiles obedient by word and deed, through mighty signs and wonders by the
power of the Spirit of God so that from Jerusalem and round about unto Illiricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Yea, so have I strived
to preach the gospel not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon
another man's foundation. But in verse 21, as it is written, to whom he was not
spoken of they shall see and they that have not heard shall understand.
Okay, you know, Doc, I didn't, I wasn't considered and I didn't ask our classmates if they want
us to continue.
So because we've actually completed the verses that were signed for today. Does anybody want us to
speak up? I've got to take that word one out. Does anybody prefer that we don't continue?
Speak up. If you say, no, I've got to go, I've got to leave. So far, we we got one, please stop here and we got several continues. Okay
You know what um
In my spirit doc
I know i'm gonna go
At least I know I'm going to go at least 40 minutes. I know that.
Let's, let's, in my spirit, I feel like I'm supposed to stop.
Okay.
People have to get work.
People say they got appointments.
I got to respect you.
Okay.
Let's let people meditate on what we've already learned
today. There's a lot to digest here. Yes. All right. So Valerie's got to go to the doctors.
Casey's got to go to work. Okay. Yes. And Pam said don't rush through it. I would be rushing.
So let's end it here and we'll pick this up tomorrow at verse 14. Very good. All right, well
praise the Lord. We are so grateful for you being here today and
fellowshiping with us in the Word and in the Spirit. And how many of you felt the
Holy Spirit's presence here today? I certainly did and know that the Lord is
blessing our efforts here today and the teaching of the word. And we just
encourage it. Keep digging, folks. Keep digging. The good gold is deep down, and so you've
got to dig deeper. So we want to thank everybody from all over the globe for checking in with
us today. And it's going to be a great week. Continue to pray for this ministry.
A lot of changes going on, a lot of decisions have to be made as we move forward and so we want to
encourage you to be sure to fellowship with us in prayer and lift us up as we need wisdom from the
Lord in making the right decisions that we move forward. Rick, any other thoughts or
comments before we close out for today?
No, I'm grateful to the Lord that we did not have a nuclear war Friday night.
We were so close.
Most people have no idea how close the world was to a nuclear war Friday night.
people have no idea how close the world was to a nuclear war Friday night. I watched very closely and very intensely as India and Pakistan were firing missiles
at each other, and then at some point Friday night Pakistan started talking about the possible
use of their nuclear arsenal.
Yes.
And so I'm grateful that President Trump's team worked through the night and was able
to calm things down because it was extremely close Friday night. I actually thought, well, when we get up in the
morning, there's going to be, we're going to read that nuclear weapons were used.
So again, it shows you how close we are, folks. This is how close we are.
It came with maybe minutes of somebody pushing a button and launching nuclear missiles. So God is, he's holding back.
He's just holding back man's self-destructive powers.
Satan wants this war so bad.
Yes. And God keeps stopping it for what purpose? So that we, the disciples,
will talk to the nations about Him. That's why. Okay, we gotta go. See you tomorrow.
God bless you. We'll see you on the Tuesday edition of Morning Manna. God bless you.
