Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Morning Manna. Doc Burkhart is at home and on the
screen he's just a little circle because he's got limited internet connectivity. And so
he'll be speaking to us by audio, not by video. We are in the 15th chapter of the book of Romans. We will be looking at verses 14 to 21. I'm
going to pray and Doc is going to read the word. Hopefully. Amen. And if you don't already
the word let's pray Father Almighty God our heavenly father we give to you the praise
of glory the honor that is due unto your name. Father your
sons and daughters have come together from many nations to be taught your
word so please Holy Spirit take charge of this Bible study and instruct us in
the word that we would be strong disciples throughout the world, for the glory of your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
All right, Doc, Romans 15 verses 14 through 21.
Yes, the Lord must really be having a special message today to be fighting us like this this
morning. And so, picking up at verse 14 today, reading through verse 21, I'm reading from the
King James this morning.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness,
filled with all knowledge, able to admonish one another. Nevertheless, brethren, I've
written the more boldly unto you in some sort as putting you in mind because of the grace
that is given to me of God, that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel
of God, that the authoring up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the
Holy Ghost.
I have, therefore, whereof I make glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain
to God.
For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me
to make the Gentiles
obedient, my word and deed, through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit
of God, so that from Jerusalem and around the world and the Illyricum I have fully preached
the gospel of Christ.
Yea, so have I struck the people not where Christ was named named lest I should build upon another man's foundation
but as it is written to whom it was not spoken of they shall see and they that have not heard
shall understand God I bless the reading of his will today yes yes and he did you barely did it, but you did it. He blessed it. Praise God. We heard it. We heard most of it.
Verse 14.
And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren,
that ye also are full of goodness,
filled with all knowledge,
able also to admonish one another.
So in this verse, Paul is expressing his confidence in the
Roman disciples, the members of the Church of Rome. He's expressing his
confidence in their goodness. He's saying, I am persuaded my brethren that ye are
full of goodness, filled with all knowledge
and that you're able to admonish one another.
So full of goodness speaks of the Roman disciples,
Christ-like character.
And he's urging them to continue to live with integrity.
and he's urging them to continue to live with integrity.
The Holy Spirit equips disciples with knowledge and goodness and guides them
to admonish others wisely.
Admonish is not chastising, criticizing, condemning.
Admonishing is always lifting up and encouraging.
Yes.
Maybe with strong words,
but it's always meant to lift up and encourage.
The phrase filled with all knowledge
refers to the understanding of the Roman Christians
of God's truth.
And Paul is encouraging them to continue to grow in wisdom
and to learn from the scriptures.
He said, able also to admonish one another.
That speaks of their capacity to lovingly correct their brethren,
to encourage, to foster mutual growth.
Again, admonish is not a negative term. It it when you correct you
you do it in love with mercy with grace, never with condemnation. Amen. Never with guilt, God doesn't bring shame on people satan does amen
So
This teaching in verse 14
Is affirming
That the disciples have the potential to build up the church of god
And to use the gifts of the Spirit for God's glory.
It's also challenging all disciples to examine their actions
and to make sure that their actions, their words, their deeds,
their thoughts reflect the goodness and wisdom of God.
the goodness and wisdom of God.
Mutual admonishment requires humility and love.
If it's not done in humility and love, it becomes a religious spirit.
And a religious spirit will always seek to condemn others while hiding their own sins. And so Paul is saying to support one another, encourage them, do it lovingly, never with
malice.
Verse 15.
Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort as putting you in mine
because of the grace that is given to me of God.
Now, in this verse, Paul is explaining his bold writing,
this very bold letter to the church in Rome. In this verse, Paul is explaining his bold writing,
this very bold letter to the church in Rome. And he said, this is a reminder to you of God's truth.
That's why I wrote this letter so boldly.
But know that it was driven by the grace
that was given to me.
but know that it was driven by the grace that was given to me.
He said, I have written the more boldly.
It's Paul's confidence
in speaking to the disciples in Rome
that they would heed his guidance.
that they would heed his guidance.
Paul is a very bold leader. He's a very courageous leader.
And yet he was very meek and very lowly and very humble.
Those quality, yes, go ahead, Doc.
Those quality…yes, go ahead, Doc. No, go ahead.
I wasn't interrupting.
Okay.
I heard noises coming from the circle.
All right. So, this is also teaching us the importance of godly reminders.
We need, all of us need godly reminders.
All the time.
Why?
We're sheep and sheep have a tendency to just stray.
That's just the nature of sheep. Sheep stray.
And-
That's why they need a shepherd.
Go ahead, Doc.
Yeah, that's why they need a shepherd,
because sheep wander away.
Yes, a shepherd is not shocked that sheep stray.
That's why there's a shepherd.
If sheep didn't stray, you wouldn't need a shepherd.
That's right.
So Jesus Christ is the good shepherd
and he knows it's our nature to stray.
And so as the Good Shepherd, he's always watching out for us, always bringing us back in.
So the wolves do not devour us.
But you might be someone who said, well, you know, I would never stray.
I know a brother, I know sister that strayed really far and got in a lot of trouble.
I would never do that.
Be careful what you say.
All right.
You're setting yourself up for a fall because you're saying I wouldn't sin like that.
Well, give yourself enough time. And you keep that proud attitude and never humble yourself.
You're setting yourself up to fall, to stray. But the shepherd always brings the sheep back.
One of the ways he does it is through godly reminders.
It's just kind of like a little electric shock. Hey, remember this?
Jolt you back into reality.
He said, because of the grace, because of the grace given to me, Paul's talking about
his apostolic calling.
He said, I can give you these godly reminders because of the grace given to me. Well, not only the call of God on his life was God's grace, but the forgiveness was God's
grace.
Remember Paul's past.
Paul never forgot who he was, what he did.
He had Christians beat up.
He had Christians dragged out of their homes and beaten, robbed.
He had their belongings plundered.
He had Christians put in jail.
And there's probably Christians who were put to death
because of Paul.
And he said, because of the grace given to me.
He never forgot.
grace given to me. He never forgot the amazing, truly amazing grace that was given to Paul. He remembered it. There were godly reminders to him every day. Yes, Doc.
I'm just going to say, he first gives them all sorts of accolades in verse 14, and then
he says in verse 15, Nevertheless, I'm going to use my calling, my authority, to admonish
you. He ends on verse 14 with saying, and admonishment, and then he proceeds to admonish
them, reminding them of the grace of God. So each of us should examine our response to
godly correction. Make sure we receive it with humility, but I'll tell you something else.
Guard your response. Examine your response in how others are corrected.
examine your response in how others are corrected.
Yes. If you find glee in it, again, you're setting yourself up
for the same dose of chastisement.
When you see a brother or sister being corrected
by the Lord, don't relish in it and don't
puff yourself up as saying, I am so much better.
You should hurt for that brother or sister.
You should grieve.
You should hurt for them.
And always seek to restore.
Always seek to restore. Always seek to restore.
I received a text yesterday from a friend in another state, and he was telling me about a very well-known minister
of the gospel who was in a lot of trouble and pleading for help.
And I, you know, I text back, I said, you know, I hurt for that brother. It just grieves
me. And I'm not sure if that's the response that the other gentleman was thinking would come
from me, you know, because what I said to him is, look, I'm working on the big three
in my life.
Grace, mercy, love.
Yes.
And I texted him and I said, I am deficient in all three.
Grace, mercy, and love. Yes. and I texted him and I said, I am deficient in all three.
Grace, mercy, and love. Yes.
And so I pray for that brother.
I pray that he gets out of the trouble that he's in.
I pray that God's grace is poured out on him
and he's able to continue.
So never write off somebody, never take glee in anybody's troubles. Pray
for them. You will need that grace someday. So verse 16, that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering
the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified
by the Holy Ghost.
So, here's one of those long sentences that you have to break it down in segments in order
to understand the whole sentence.
That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles.
That's the first segment. He's talking about his role in spreading the gospel to the non-Jewish world
as a minister to the Gentiles. He's a minister of Jesus Christ, not just a minister, but a minister. It's like, who are you a minister of?
That's the first thing you have to decide.
He is a minister of the Lord Jesus Christ.
To whom?
To the Gentiles.
Yes.
You notice Paul never said,
I am a minister of Jesus Christ to the Jews.
And yet he continued to go to them
out of his love for them. Yes. Yet God never commissioned him to be an apostle to the Jews.
Look, I say this with reverence and humility.
It's just not criticism. I'm not criticizing Paul.
But my personal view is Paul got himself beat up
and imprisoned and almost killed multiple times because he was trying
to carry out a mission that God did not give him.
That is...
There's a lot of insight in that.
Yes.
I think his love for the Jews, he was a Jew, I think his love for the Jews drove him daily.
He didn't neglect his calling to the Gentiles.
He never neglected it.
But he insisted that he be a minister to the Jews.
Where did he get in trouble? insisted that he be a minister to the Jews.
Where did he get in trouble? Every time he went to the Jews.
So Rick, do we do that in our own lives?
Yes.
Yes, we go to people, we go to things,
we go to places that God never sent us.
All right, so I learned this many years ago
and I say I learned it.
Let me say I heard it because you know,
if you don't put it into practice, you didn't learn it.
You just heard it.
I heard, I'm not saying I learned it.
I heard, I'm not saying I learned it, I heard a internationally known minister of the gospel say,
he was talking about his fellow preachers, he goes, I hear my fellow preachers say all the time, I am sent to the, I am going into all the world. Jesus said,
go into all the world, preach the gospel. And he said, they were not sent to the whole world.
It's impossible. The church is sent to the whole world.
The church as one body is sent into the whole world
But individual members of the body can't do that
How can you go to the whole world you can't
But the church can yes, and what he said was this is what got into my head
He said you're not if you're a preacher of the gospel, you're not sent to everybody. You're sent to somebody. Now, we recently retired True News.
It was difficult, emotionally difficult for me.
I did it for 26 years. It was part of my identity. It was part
of the work. I just, I could do it in my sleep. We had people all over the world who were relying
on true news for analysis of news. But the Lord spoke to me and said,
and said, the people I have sent you to are at morning manna. You minister to them. You are my minister. You are a minister of Jesus Christ to the people who gather at morning manna, nobody else.
Okay, so I am doing to the best of my ability, I am doing my best to walk this out in real time.
Knowing I could lose everything.
I'm not going to, But in the natural, yes.
Yes, we could lose everything because we put to bed something that had worked for 26 years.
But the Lord said, you are a minister of me to the people who gather at morning manna
because they are hungry for my word the others are hungry for news
So I'm not sent to everybody and you know what it's taken a lot of stress and pressure off of me
I know who I'm sent to now. The people who gather here five days a week and say,
teach me. And I hope, I pray that this class just gets bigger and bigger and bigger, that
we have tens of thousands of people. Amen. But we're not going to stray beyond our calling.
So he said that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable,
being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. So be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, that's segment one.
Ministering the gospel of God, that's number two. That the offerings of the Gentile might be
acceptable, that's number three. Being sanctified by the Holy Ghost, that's number four. Those are
the four segments of that sentence. You have to understand each segment before you can put it all together
and understand the whole. So we're talking about that he should be a minister of Jesus Christ,
not of a denomination. Notice he's talking to the church in Rome, but he's not a minister of Rome.
Yes. What we have today is the church of Rome.
No, he was a minister of Jesus Christ who ministered to the people in Rome.
The Roman Catholic Church is not the entire body of Christ.
It was part of it then, it's part of it today.
Paul was not a Roman. Are you saying that he was not a Christian?
He was an apostle,
and he's ministering to the church in Rome.
They're part of his ministry.
The foremost thing is that he was a minister of Jesus Christ. He was not a minister of a denomination.
He was not a minister of a cult.
He was not the minister of a particular church.
He was not the minister of an ideology.
He was not the minister of a political party.
He was not the minister of a political party. He was not the minister of a government.
He was the minister of Jesus Christ. Specifically to the Gentiles. Right.999% of the human population.
Right.
And there were 12 other apostles
that were ministering to the Jews directly.
Their primary mission was the Jews.
Yes.
And the Paul was the one set aside
as an apostle to the Gentiles,
first after his conversion
on the road.
And Ananias took care of Paul, and the Lord spoke to Ananias and said, he's going to
be a chosen vessel to the Gentiles.
And then later on, when Paul and Barnabas were anointed and the hands laid on them,
once again that calling to the Gentiles was confirmed.
And so it was clear, not just to Paul, but also to the leadership of the church at that
time, the accepted body of Christ at that time, that Paul was a minister to the Gentiles.
And yet he obviously still struggled with this issue
of seeing his brethren saved.
So it's
We would have to point out, Doc, that the other apostles did branch out, did go into
many nations. Thomas was killed in India. Yes. So he made his he made it from Jerusalem to India.
And, you know, each of the apostles went different directions. Yes. But Paul specifically,
you know, and Peter, Peter had trouble accepting Gentiles.
God had to give him a vision for him to accept, but after that he was okay with it.
Peter was fine with it. In Paul's case, he never had any problem with the Gentiles coming in. He understood the plan.
He just grieved that the Jews would not come in.
Right.
That's what...
It troubled the dear man his whole life.
It was like family refusing to come in to the dinner.
That is a great example there, Rick.
And they were refusing to come in because non-family people were inside and saying,
no, we won't sit with them, meaning the Gentiles.
And so they would not come into the father's house
to eat the meal.
And they said, we'd rather stay out here and go hungry
than to go inside and eat that feast
with these non-family members and not refusing to accept,
but the father has adopted them.
What happens when a family adopts children
and the natural born children say,
I will not accept them as brothers and sisters?
Does that ever happen in the world?
I'm sure it does.
Does that ever happen in the world? I'm sure it does.
It certainly happens with mixed families because of divorce.
The wife comes into the new marriage with children, the husband comes into the marriage,
the new marriage with children from past marriages,
and now you've got to blend these families together.
Yes, that happens. This is what happened spiritually between the Jews and the Gentiles.
The Jews said, we're not going in there. We know that's our father's house, but we refuse to accept
these low lives that he adopted. They're beneath us. We will not be seated at the table with them
right
And it grieved paul
He never gave up on the gentiles he was always ministering to them, but he he refused to give up on his fellow jews
so the phrase
He's a minister of j Christ to the Gentiles, highlighting his role in spreading the gospel worldwide's ministering the gospel of God.
He's serving the gospel of God.
Not just any gospel, but the gospel of God.
He's serving it to the Gentiles.
He's a priest.
He's ministering to the Gentiles with the gospel of God
He's ministering to the Gentiles with the gospel of God
to inspire them to dedicate their lives to God, to live as a living sacrifice.
So Paul's saying, I've got a priestly role, and that requires sacrificial service.
Service to God, service to humans.
And who he was serving were Gentiles, who the Jews said are subhuman.
He said, acceptable being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
And this is speaking of the Holy Spirit's work in making believers holy, uniting them
together in worship of God so that there's mutual acceptance.
And when we offer our lives to God, we shine as witnesses.
What the enemy wants to do is to get you bogged down
in things that darken your light.
What could he do to get you to go from 100 watts to five?
Oh yeah, you still got a little light there, but you're not a 100
watt bulb anymore. You're down to a five. That's what Satan is trying to do with your
life and my life. What can I do to you to get you to lower the light? Maybe I can't
get the light completely out, but if I can get it dimmed
Maybe I throw a lot of dirt on top of you and that light bulb can't shine
What can I do? How can I turn down the power?
The power is Holy Spirit. Well, how can Satan's like can I get you?
disconnected from the Holy Spirit so that not enough electricity is coming through the lines from the Holy Spirit to you and the light goes down
in its brilliance?
Trying to find practical real life
analogies of what's taking place in the spiritual realm.
Satan comes to kill, still destroy. analogies of what's taking place in the spiritual realm.
Satan comes to kill, still destroy. If he can't kill you, if he can't destroy you, he's looking for a way to reduce your effectiveness. Yes. Here, I'm gonna put a
tripwire in front of you and see if you're an idiot and fall
over it.
Oh, you did.
Okay, I got you.
We have to be on guard all the time.
Then calls you an idiot after that.
Yes, and then they call you an idiot. Verse 17, I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which
pertain to God.
The World English Bible says, I have therefore my boasting in Christ Jesus in things pertaining
to God.
So Paul is expressing his confidence in boasting. Now see that doesn't sound
right, does it? Paul's saying, I boast.
But in whom does he boast?
He does his boasting in Christ.
Right.
Not himself.
He boasts through Jesus Christ for his work in God's service.
He says, wherefore I may glory.
Again, it's boasting in the modern English, where he says, I may glory. Again, it's boasting in the modern English where he says, I may glory, where I may boast.
Paul is expressing, is there such a thing, Doc, as humble pride?
Well, it's okay to boast about the things of God.
To me, what he's saying is, folks, for the record, God has done some amazing things through
me.
But he did it, not me.
But it was amazing. Nevertheless, let me tell you, there's been
some amazing things done through my ministry, but it wasn't me. It was Christ.
And He says that too. He said, I boast about those things which pertain to God.
Yes.
Which pertain to Paul, but which pertain to God. Yes, so when he said through Jesus Christ, he's saying that all of his boasting is rooted in the
power of Jesus Christ. When Jesus works through you, there will be amazing things happen, and you
should talk about it. But not that you did it, but Christ did it through you.
But not that you did it, but Christ did it through you. So humble pride, it sounds contradictory, doesn't it?
Yes.
But it is, this is humble pride.
Humility in your own weakness, pride in Jesus's greatness, his strength. Amen.
Can Jesus do things on earth without you? Yes, he's able. He has that power. Does he? He always
works through people. He works through people. He speaks through people, he ministers through people.
Well guess what?
People are flawed.
They're defective.
If they were perfect, they would be the Messiah.
And the sooner you stop thinking that you are less defective than somebody else, you'll
be better off.
What degree of defectiveness do you find acceptable?
Because I find people with religious spirits, they're like, well, my defectiveness is better
than yours.
Right.
They're measuring against one another.
It's like measuring against a mismeasured lumber.
The number's always gonna be off.
It's always warped.
Yes.
Yeah, that's what Doc, you go to Home Depot
and there's a stack of warp boards
and they're talking to each other saying I'm I'm less warped than you I
Can't build anything with it that's right warped
That's the amazing thing about Christ he takes warped lumber and builds beautiful things
or hallelujah.
So just get over it, get over it.
You're warped, you're defective, you're flawed.
Yeah, you are, it's okay.
If Christ is in you, he's not warped,
he's not defective, he's not flawed.
So if he's in you and you are in him, everything's cool. Yes
And he will do great and mighty things through you
This verse 18
For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought
by me to make the Gentiles obedient by word and deed.
In other words, he's saying, I wouldn't dare to talk about anything except the things Jesus
Christ did through me that made the Gentiles obedient.
He's, he's refusing to take personal credit.
You see, the only things worth talking about, the only things I'll boast
about are the things Christ did through me, which made Gentiles obedient.
By word and deed.
They became obedient in the things that they said,
the things that they did.
Which Christ hath wrought by me?
He's saying that Jesus Christ is the source
of all of the fruit in his life.
And if it's not Christ inspired fruit,
it's not worth talking about.
Yes.
Hallelujah.
You know, if we would use that standard,
do you know how much free time we would have
by not listening to people in the media or in everyday life
who are talking about nonsense.
They're talking about themselves, they're talking about their goodness, their greatness,
they're talking about culture, entertainment, they're just talking about nonsense.
We should only listen to people who are talking about what Christ has done.
It's the only thing that matters.
The rest of it is just chatter.
To make the Gentiles obedient.
To inspire them to live for God by word and deed.
Now, I'm not sure here, doc,
if Paul's talking about the Gentiles word and deed
or his word and deed.
If it was his, it's his preaching and his actions.
If he's talking about the Gentiles, it's their
language, their speech, their actions. Well, if you combine that with the next verse,
I think what Paul is trying to say here by word and deed, and then he says,
through signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, I think,
you know, we have these verse divisions here. I think that would really be all one thought there. In other words, he's saying,
I can't glory in anything Paul has done. The only thing that it's worth talking about
is the things done through Christ. Word, deed, signs, wonders, the Spirit of God, all these things. And so, again, it's not Paul. Anything of Paul is
going to fail. But the things of glory of in Christ, they're what we have built this
upon.
So, first, you're absolutely right, Doug. That's a good perspective. Verse 19, through
mighty signs and wonders by the power of the Spirit of God so that from Jerusalem and
Round about unto Illyricum. I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Yes
He's telling you that his travels
As we're gonna see in the next chapter, he talks about when I come to you through
Spain Paul got around.
The man did some serious traveling.
Always on the move.
Always had a place to go.
Yes.
I was thinking about him this morning, Doc,
in my prayer time, trying to get an imagination of him,
how lonely he must have been so many days.
Yes.
Traveling by himself. You think about spending maybe sleeping alone
in the wilderness on his way to another city. His life, most of it he was alone
Sitting in a prison cell alone
But the man had a look I'll tell you what I was thinking of how did Paul deal with emotional pain and loneliness
How did he deal with it
Because he had it.
He had people who betrayed him.
Yes, Demas has left me.
Oh, and one point he says, everybody has left me.
Yeah.
Everybody is like everybody.
He was totally abandoned.
And yet he continued.
And he said,
through mighty signs and wonders,
signs and wonders are impressive.
But Paul said mighty signs. Yes.
Supersize signs. Yes. Supersized signs. Like we talked about last week, special miracles.
Paul wasn't content with miracles. He desired special miracles. He wasn't content with signs and wonders.
He said, Lord, I know you're able to do something greater, mightier.
Help me with these Gentiles.
Do something that just blows them away that they can't explain it away, so that they would
believe your word and accept your son.
So he spread the gospel far and wide, mighty signs and wonders. By the power of the Spirit, that word power again is dunamis,
which is, I'm sure you know where we get the word dynamite. He's speaking of the power of the Holy Spirit
Um
I lost my place here. Let me get back to my note stock, okay
Which first are we in verse 19? Okay. Yes. I bumped my screen and it had a
flutter.
All right.
So dunamis is talking about the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Greek word dunamis means power, strength, might, physical power, force, might, efficacy,
energy, marvelous works.
Again, not just great works, but marvelous works.
Yes.
And he said he fully preached the gospel, meaning he didn't leave out anything.
That's right.
He was a full gospel minister, Rick.
Well apparently so.
Apparently he said he fully preached the gospel.
Yes.
I could see Paul leaving a place and coming back saying, wait a minute, I forgot something.
I got to tell you one more thing before I leave. He fully preached the gospel. He didn't leave out
anything. He made sure that the people understood the gospel.
And it was to Paul that God gave the revelation of the inclusion of the Gentiles and that it had been God's plan from the beginning.
Yes.
That was the mystery.
Paul, God gave Paul the revelation of the mystery.
It's not a mystery today.
It hasn't been a mystery for 2000 years. It wasn't a mystery today. It hasn't been a mystery for 2,000 years. It wasn't a mystery
before. People just didn't understand it. They didn't see it. And they didn't comprehend
it.
We have received that full revelation of God through His Word and through the testimony
of the apostles.
That's right. All right. Two more verses, verse 20. Yay, so have I strived to preach the gospel
not where Christ was named,
lest I should build upon another man's foundation.
So in this one, Paul said,
I'm going to the unreached areas.
If I come to a town and there's a church there
and somebody's teaching Jesus, I move on.
I'm not gonna go start another church in that town. town and there's a church there and somebody's teaching Jesus, I move on.
I'm not going to go start another church in that town. There's a church. Let that brother be blessed.
I'll find a town that doesn't have a church.
Well, that's a lesson we should learn today, isn't it? We do the opposite today.
We have church marketing arms saying, well, if there's a lesson we should learn today in it. We do the opposite today mark
We have church marketing arms saying well if there's a super church here
That's the town that's where you need to plant a church. Yes No, all flips that idea on it said or or doc
Hey, there's a lot a lot of small churches here. If we planted a super church,
we could pull all the members out of these little churches
and have one big super church.
And we'd be doing more ministry for them.
Isn't that always the argument?
Yes.
It's like a box store coming in
and shutting down all the mom and pop stores.
Oh, that's a great example.
It's the same model.
The very same model.
You know, a Home Depot looks around and goes,
hey, let's see, look at all the little hardware stores here.
If we put a Home Depot here,
we'll shut down all those mom and pop hardware stores
and we'll be the big store.
And so that principle is used
in civilized countries like America. the big store. So that principle is used in
civilized countries like America.
But Paul said, no, no, no, no, I wouldn't do that.
I'm gonna keep walking
because the next town won't have a church.
Right.
And I'll start a church there.
And isn't that what we're doing with Morning Manor, Rick?
We're actually going to a place that most churches never go.
We're saying, let's take the church to the people
every single day.
Let's bring the children in their home
and teach them line by line, precept upon precept
in their homes, wherever they are in the world.
So we've got people right now in their homes, in their offices, in their cars, their trucks,
wherever they are.
So it's a blessing. Yesterday, Doc, a young man that I love very much was here visiting and he told me that
he and his wife stop every morning at 8 a.m. and together they sit in their kitchen table
drinking coffee listening to morning manna.
Well praise God for that.
That blessed me. That blessed me. See that's like
wow okay now I have that image in my mind. So we're doing that. We don't desire to take
anybody else's church members. We're just going out to teach the word as far as we can go.
And we're doing something that I can't think of anyone else that does this on a daily basis.
There probably are. I mean, there has to be, and we can't be the only ones, can we? But the fact
of the matter is we've found a place and a people to minister to, and that's through
morning manna here.
And obviously brothers and sisters have responded to that.
I mean, we have nearly 400 people here today.
And I know I say this all the time, Rick, but as a young preacher, a young minister
of the gospel, back when I was pastoring churches of 25 to 100 people,
barely making ends meet,
to imagine a day and a time where I would have
the opportunity to minister to
hundreds of people every single day live.
I couldn't even imagine or think it back then.
But thousands every day throughout the day.
That's what we have to continue. The morning
manna class is big when you put it all together. Over 24 hours, how many people come to the morning
manna class? May not be exactly at 8 to 9 a.m. Eastern, but throughout the day they're listening.
There are others who, you know,
they're listening the next day
when they're getting up for work.
They're listening to, you know,
there'll be people tomorrow morning at five a.m.,
their time, listening to us as they get ready to go to work.
They'll be listening to today's class.
It's awesome.
But the people are coming because they're hungry. Right.
And when a restaurant, you know, there's an Italian restaurant that just opened a few
doors from our office.
The Lord heard our prayers.
Oh my, I don't know, Doc. It's, uh, and the
owner is an Italian and the food is out of this world. And so last week, I think I went
there almost every day. I was trying things I've never, dishes I've never heard of and
everything was delicious.
And I told him one day, I said, Hey, I got you figured out now.
I got your plan. He goes, What is it? I said, you are making
food so delicious. I will part with my money and give it to you
every day. I said, I'm on I'm on to you now. I've got I've got
your number. I know what you're doing. You need to make
this food less appetizing. Then I won't come over here every day.
It is true.
Yeah. So why do people go to a Bible class every day? Because the food is good. Because the food is good and you're hungry
and you're you're tasting things you never tasted before.
That's what we're doing here. Verse 21, you got to release everyone, but as it is written to whom he was not spoken of they shall see
And they that have not heard shall understand
They who were not told about him will see and those who haven't heard will understand
He's quoting isaiah
Yes, isaiah 52 verse 15,
to whom he was not spoken of, speaking about the Messiah.
They shall see, promises that the Gentiles
will see Christ,
that they that have not heard shall understand that the Holy
Spirit will open up their spiritual ears and eyes and mind to comprehend the
gospel.
Again see this was Isaiah, Old Testament prophet to the Jews saying that when the Messiah
comes, he's going to go to people he was not spoken of.
They shall see, they shall understand.
And then when the Messiah shows up, the Jews said, no, we don't believe it.
We don't accept it.
Yes. We don't want the rest of the world
to hear this this is our we don't we're that's we're going inside for the dinner and nobody else
and if you invite anybody else we leave
that in nutshell is what's been going on. Yes.
So, that's my lesson for today.
Praise God.
We'll be back here tomorrow.
Pick up at verse 22.
Well, praise the Lord.
I actually made it all the way through, Rick.
You did, and you're not pixelated anymore.
You're all together.
Praise God.
Well, I'm glad we were able to get everything
together here because this was an important lesson today. And we need to understand that
God has a calling for us and at times it's easy to get distracted from that calling.
We think we have priorities in our life, things that are important to us, but then God brings us back on track and
on course. And so I think in this passage today, Rick, not only are we seeing Paul telling the
Romans, this is who I am. This is I'm a minister to the Gentiles. I'm going to be clear to you.
But it's also a message to him to reaffirming. This is my calling. It's a calling from Jesus Christ. It was prophesied by Isaiah
This calling in my life. This is no accident. This is no well
But we better go to the Gentiles because the Jews have rejected us
No, it was always God's plan to reach the Gentiles as well
Always is and Paul is re-emphasizing that in this passage today.
Great lesson today, Rick. So, all right, everybody be blessed, go into your day and
share the good news, be happy, put a smile on your face, let people know that you're saved,
you're forgiven. When they ask, why do you smile so much? Say, because I'm saved and the Holy Spirit lives inside of me and I'm blessed.
All right, let them see, let them see a smile on your face. The world needs smiles. It's a sad world out there. It's a sad, sad world. And we are supposed to be
the most joyful people on earth. That's why Satan's always trying to take your joy from
you. Because if you don't have joy, you won't talk about Jesus. If you just simplify it, you understand what's going
on in our lives every day. Yes. All the ugly, complicated, messy things is just
Satan wanting to dampen your light, dampen your joy, so you don't shine and talk about Jesus. That's the only thing He's after.
That's right. Everything Satan throws at us is nothing but noise. Yes. Nothing but noise.
Praise God. All right, well Rick, we thank everybody today for joining us here on morning manor, nearly 400 people again today live with us.
And of course, thousands on repeat, uh, on various platforms today.
And we love you very much.
We appreciate you praying for us.
We appreciate your support for this ministry or your faithful investment of
your finances in this ministry.
We don't take that lightly.
And, uh, we know that God provides for us by providing through you.
And thank you for that.
And we pray that you continue doing that prayerfully and cheerfully as
we continue to break the word of God with you on a daily basis.
Any final words before we sign off today, Rick?
No, sir, doc. That's it for me.
All right. Well, God God bless everyone and we will
see you on the Wednesday edition of Morning Manna. We love you. Thank you. Bye.
