Hello everybody, it's 3 p.m. It's time for Doc and I to check in with you, let you know
that all is well here and we're very busy. We care about you, we're thinking about you
and life goes on. We are working very busily on some big plans for the Kingdom of God and
it's been a good day. It's been a very very good day.
The Lord's favor has been all over us today. In fact, the whole week has been a week of favor.
I want to talk about, and just we have just a few minutes, I want to talk about
the India-Pakistan
conflict. It hasn't, I don't think it's reached the level of a war. This is a
military conflict. Each other, each nation is trading punches. And today, India took
out a substantial portion of Pakistan's air defense system.
Right. And then Pakistan allegedly shot missiles into an Indian city and India says that they
were able to intercept and shoot down the missiles.
So it has intensified in the past 24 hours since we were here yesterday, but really in the last five or six hours.
There's been a lot of activity going on between India and Pakistan.
The question is how far is Pakistan going to go?
The other thing that came out today was that Pakistan said that the drones that were being
used against Pakistan were made
by Israel.
Right.
And how did India respond to that?
By claiming that Pakistan was using Hamas-style weapons.
Yes, Hamas-style.
Not Hamas weapons, but Hamas-style.
So what does this all mean, Rick?
Now you've got Israel and Hamas interjected in this India Pakistan, I mean, this India
Pakistan conflict now.
Well, I would remind everybody that last year during the heated
Israeli attacks on Gaza, the only country that spoke up and
threatened Israel was Pakistan. And it wasn't done at the
official level. If I recall, there was
some high-level Pakistani official who said, hey, we have nukes, we could intervene.
Right.
Yeah. Pakistan is the only country that could challenge Israel. And he was
referring to their nuclear arsenal. That statement was only out there one day,
and it went away.
But I have a feeling that Bibi Netanyahu said,
Pakistan's got to go.
They are capable of attacking Israel.
They have nuclear weapons.
We've got to get rid of them.
So are we looking at a was the attack on India?
Was it a false flag operation?
India said Pakistan did it right.
And Pakistan has denied any involvement in the terrorist attack.
Was it a Mossad operation to create the the cover for a war?
And is Israel involved in this war?
I don't know. But you have to ask this question.
Pakistan is Islamic. India is primarily Hindu. Right. So you have Muslims against Hindus. But
who does Israel want to take out? They want to take out the Muslims because they have significant partnerships with India and
Pakistan is the well
Officially is the only nuclear armed Muslim country
That's true. So officially officially and there's been a significant change in India policy over the past several years
They used to be pro-palestinian, but they've since abandoned that.
And there's been a lot of religious strife in India of Hindus attacking Muslims, and attacking
Christians. The Hindus have been quite violent in recent years. So it is possible, I'm just stating,
it's possible that Israel could be involved in this war.
So pay attention.
I saw videos on X today, allegedly of a large bridge in Pakistan that was blown up during the night.
A lot of explosions around that bridge, if that was accurate.
So there's a lot of fighting going on.
It's not a full-fledged war yet,
but at any hour it could go red hot and it could go nuclear. Now did you talk about this in your
email today? Yes, so I sent an email out early today And I posed a question, what would be the ramifications to us here in the USA and in
Europe, Canada, if there was an exchange of nuclear weapons between Pakistan and India?
Well, obviously, the immediate impact would be in India and Pakistan
where hundreds of millions even a billion people could die depending on how
many warheads are exploded. That's your first ramification. Then you have this
massive humanitarian crisis, the survivors who are going to be radiated, right, you're going to have the refugees, right, could
be hundreds of millions of refugees trying to get to
Western nations. But what about the radiation that goes into the
atmosphere?
Where does it go?
It goes around the planet. Around and around and around for
decades.
So it could impact people here in North America, right?
Within three weeks. Within two to three weeks,
we could have radiation in the atmosphere.
And if there's rainfall, the raindrops are going to be bringing
radioactive isotopes down in the drops.
Do you know how many isotopes you need to get inside of you to be radioactive?
One? One. One. That's it. Not like you need a thousand. No one. That's it. So we
would have radiation floating over America in two to three weeks.
We would continue across the Atlantic to Europe and then we just continue to circle the globe.
Now that's the first catastrophe is the immediate blast area in India and Pakistan.
The next thing is the radiation traveling around the planet.
That then produces a nuclear winter
and temperatures dropping.
Guess what, Doc, you're going into a mini ice age.
Right.
Not global warming, global cooling.
No, it's global cooling,
and this could last a hundred years.
Right.
And now you have a you have famine.
You could have a global famine caused by this nuclear war.
I remember the article a couple years ago that we covered here on here on the set that
talking about the scientists.
It'd be a good thing if we had a nuclear winter because it would bring down the temperatures.
Well, they were actually saying it'd be a good thing.
Yes. And so they may get to test their theory very soon.
I hope not.
I do too, but it's a reality.
It's a possible real threat that could happen.
It could be happening right now while we're talking.
Things are that red hot between India and Pakistan.
I'm trying to give you an alert
that if you're thinking, oh well, if they blow up each other it's not going to affect me, oh yes
it is, it's going to affect you the rest of your life. All foods shelves will be
emptied within hours and they will stay empty for years. Your day of shopping for food comes to an end.
All food production and distribution will be nationalized by the militaries of each
country.
They will decide who gets food and how much food.
There won't be any shopping.
There will be no grocery stores.
There will only be military trucks, warehouses distributing whatever food is available.
Food production will plummet worldwide because of the radiation and because of the cooling
temperatures around the planet. Now something else
that's going on at the same time right now is that there's a whole string of
volcanoes that are rumbling. Not just one, multiple volcanoes. There's a big
undersea volcano off the coast of Oregon. There
are several volcanoes in the western United States that are rumbling.
In fact, you know, they're all over the world right now. Something's happening
inside the earth. The volcanoes are rumbling. So Rick, what I'm hearing from
you is when it comes to the economies of the world,
the governments of the world,
even the earth itself is going through turmoil
and birth pangs right now.
The planet is trying to vomit out sin.
The planet creation was not made for sin.
And the planet is groaning, desiring to be released from
the infection of sin and wants to spew mankind out, get rid of mankind because
we have infected the planet. It was not supposed to be that way. Jesus said that
there would be wars and rumors of wars.
He said there would be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in many
places. That we would enter the time of sorrows. I think we're there,
Doc. I think we're in the time of sorrows. So if you have a nuclear winter caused
by radiation and at the same time several large volcanoes erupt around the world and spew massive numbers
of tons of ash into the atmosphere.
And really it only takes one volcano.
Only takes one.
But two to five to ten?
Yes.
All right, we're looking at global cooling on an extreme scale. You know, years
ago I used to talk about global cooling and a lot of people would get upset with me and
go, Rick, you're the craziest Bible prophecy teacher I've ever heard. There's not going
to be any global cooling. The world's going to burn up. don't you know that? Yes, yes, it says it's gonna burn up.
But all the things in Matthew 24 could be fulfilled by an ice age. Right. And then
where people would get hung up on this, it can't be an ice age at the end of time. Why? Because the world burns up. Yes, yes it does. Well how can this,
how can both things be true? My answer is, have you ever tossed a snowball into the fireplace?
What happens to it? The fire doesn't go out. The fire doesn't go out, the snowball melts. So if the
planet is frozen and God sets it on fire, is it going to burn up?
Of course it is.
People just don't consider the possibility of global cooling and ice age bringing on
the prophecies that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 24.
So anyhow, I would encourage you, well first more than anything,
do a heart check. We all need to check our hearts right now. Let the Holy Spirit root out
all sin, whatever is hidden deep in you, get it out of you. Okay, we've got to be ready for these end times. Do what you can to stockpile food. Be aware that if something of this magnitude happens, the
day of shopping comes to an end. Right. It just ends. You can't prepare after the
event. No. You're not going to have post-nuclear war food shopping. It just, it
ends. Governments will then nationalize food. All food, yes.
Worldwide.
And nations will be going to war over food.
Yes.
They will go to war over food and water.
So do that, stockpile food.
And number two, have potassium iodide tablets in place.
Right there, there's American Reserves,
their own brand, American Reserves potassium iodide tablets.
And potassium iodide is to protect your thyroid gland
from radiation.
Again, you do not take these as a preventive medicine.
That's not what you do.
You only take potassium iodide when there is a very real
threat of radiation coming over you.
Right.
It's like the last thing you do, protect your thyroid.
But if you don't have any, you can't.
You can't protect your thyroid.
See, the radiation will lodge in your thyroid gland.
And that's what the purpose of the potassium iodide is to block the radiation from getting
in your thyroid gland.
So you have to have them in possession.
And enough for every member of your family.
These are 130 milligrams per serving, two tablets per serving. And you know, they're only $19.99 a bottle.
It's not like you're spending hundreds of dollars.
Right.
And you could get 10 bottles.
Because you'll never, once the first nuke goes off, you'll
never be able to get this again.
Right.
First of all, everybody will be sold out.
And number two, the government will nationalize everything.
So think about these things.
India-Pakistan war has the real potential
of going nuclear any hour.
We spent the last couple years concerned
about Russia and Ukraine.
And now out of the blue comes Pakistan and India.
Wars and rumors of wars. Okay, that's enough for today. Let's go to the Word of God and
Morning Manna.
Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Morning Manna. We are starting chapter 15 in the book of romans
and
You know by the middle of the month. Well, we will be wrapping up the book of romans been quite a journey
So today we're looking at romans 15
verses one through seven let's pray and then uh, dr
Raymond burkhardt will read the word of God for us from the authorized
King James Version.
Almighty God, our dear Heavenly Father, we are grateful to be alive today and to be saved,
forgiven and made members of your family, Father.
Father, your brothers, your sons and daughters, our brothers and sisters from around the world
are here right now to receive instruction from the Holy Spirit.
So we invite the Holy Spirit to take knowledge and revelation and understanding of the kingdom
of God and more importantly the King of the kingdom of God, your Son Jesus Christ. In His
glorious wonderful name we pray, amen. Amenick mentioned we're starting roman chapter 15 today as we uh
complete continue our journey through romans here and if you've been with us from the beginning
you've learned a lot and now we're in the home stretch here on the final two chapters here
chapter 15 today continues in that same theme of bold Christian living in a godless world.
And we're going to be reading verses 1 through 7 today. Just a reminder that
tomorrow is Faith Friday, so be sure to join us then for that. And also tomorrow
we'll be celebrating the Lord's table. And so we will be completing that
tomorrow as well, so keep that in mind.
Verses 1 through 7, as Rick said, I'm reading from the King James.
We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves.
Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good edification.
For even Christ pleased not himself, but as it is written, the reproaches of them
that reproach thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime
were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the
scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to
be like-minded one toward another according
to Christ Jesus.
That ye may be with one mind and one mouth, glorify God, even the Father, our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Wherefore receive ye one another as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
God bless the reading of his word today.
Amen. Chapter 15 verse 1, World English Bible. Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses
of the weak and not to please ourselves. So verse 1 starts out by calling upon disciples who are strong in the Christian faith to support
those who are weak in the Christian faith to prioritize their spiritual growth over
our personal desires.
You're putting emphasis on the need of somebody else ahead of yourself.
And you know this continues that whole theme that we've we saw in the 23 verses of chapter 14,
which was a call for unity, a call for disciples to do everything possible to foster harmony in the church
by bearing with those who struggle with various issues that we have a debt of love.
We are in debt to Christ, and therefore, we must extend that love to everybody around us.
The term strong in verse 1 refers to disciples who are confident in their Christian faith,
confident in their Christian faith and it encourages them to use
Spiritual maturity to uplift
Those around them in the church who are weak or new
young in the faith
The phrase burying the infirmities
Means patiently supporting others' struggles. So Paul said, what then that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak? So there are always people in the church who are struggling at various stages in their
walk with Christ, and they may have doubts or erroneous convictions, sincere, maybe trying
to earnestly please the Lord, but not fully understanding the Word of God.
Right.
Paul said, bear the infirmities.
It's not that they're sick.
It's that they're struggling with certain issues.
Weakness.
Weakness, yes.
You're to bear them in their weakness.
You're not to cast them aside. Obviously you're not to judge them.
You're not to cast them aside.
You're not to say, I don't have time to deal with you.
You figured out yourself.
Paul said to not please ourselves, that simply means setting aside
your self-interest and thinking of the other person is more important. Why are you doing
it for the sake of Christ? Because that's what he would do for you. Amen.
This is also teaching us to act with compassion.
That we are to strengthen and encourage those around us who are struggling, rather than discourage them.
around us who are struggling rather than discourage them.
And you certainly don't take advantage of a brother or sister in their weakness.
You don't look at their weakness and go,
I could come out on top.
This person has a weakness.
How can I gain from this?
Right.
And there are a lot of people like that.
Oh, believe me.
There are people like that in the church
and out of the church.
Because really, that spirit is not ever in some,
has nothing to do with the Church of God.
So people who are in the church professing
to be Christians or have that attitude, it's an attitude of the world.
Right.
Bearing, clearly, I mean, bearing the weaknesses of others promotes unity. That's what we're studying here in these chapters in Romans. Harmony,
unity, strengthening the church, the body of Christ. Remember, this is a letter from
Paul to the church in Rome. He's covered a lot of ground in this letter. You think back to those first three, four chapters.
Those then he was dealing with basically legal terms about the
law. Right? He's he's covered a lot of ground in this long letter.
I would say this,
Paul is challenging all Christians to examine their motives.
Take a deep dive into your heart and figure out what motivates you.
Why do you act a certain way? Why do you treat people a certain way? and figure out what motivates you.
Why do you act a certain way? Why do you treat people a certain way?
What's your motivation?
And so when you do that,
you're supposed to choose actions
that build up the body of Christ.
Not to tear down the body of Christ. Not to tear down the body of Christ.
Some people have a very destructive spirit about them.
You turn them loose in a group, in an organization,
in a church, in a company, whatever it is,
you turn them loose and they're going to destroy.
It's just their nature.
They're so obsessed with themselves.
Their feelings, their emotions, their hurts, their pain,
they are obsessed with themselves.
And people who are like that are very destructive
because they're hurting everybody around them.
Why? Because they hurt.
And they're like, if I'm gonna hurt
and I'm gonna be miserable, you are too.
Yeah.
You know, and those people will,
they'll just tear down an organization.
They'll tear it apart. They'll constantly have friction and just bad feelings, bad thoughts about people and such. At the root of that
attitude is selfishness because they're consumed with their own feelings and emotions and they
don't care about anybody else.
They only care about their own feelings and emotions.
And because they don't have the joy of the Lord, I guess they have the joy of Satan.
What's that look like, Dawg? What does Satan's joy look like?
Well, what does he take pleasure in? What does Satan take pleasure in? Destruction, killing,
stealing, and destroying. His resume is, I like to say, killing, stealing, and destroying.
That's where he gets his joy.
But we are supposed to live in a spirit of harmony and unity and love for others, putting
others ahead of ourselves.
Verse 2, Modern English, let each one of us please his neighbor,
for that which is good to build him up.
Continuing the theme, to prioritize pleasing
another person for their spiritual benefit,
to deliberately focus your words, your actions,
your attitudes towards them in a positive way that lifts them up.
Again, to foster harmony because selflessness promotes unity, selfishness will promote division and strife.
Right.
Paul said every one of us, who does that leave out?
Nobody. Paul was pointing a finger at himself. Let all of us, including me, Paul,
that every one of us please his neighbor for his good.
Please your neighbor means acting in ways that supports and encourages your
your neighbor's faith. Not seeking their approval, but building up their faith for his good.
To ensure
Paul is directing disciples to ensure their actions promote spiritual growth in the body of Christ.
Right.
And if I could add a little bit more insight on that word please there, it's the Greek
word orresco.
And there are different words for pleasing in
the New Testament. This one is a bit stronger than the others. And the way I
would try to explain it today is you bend over backwards, okay? You make an
extra effort. It's not just, well, I'm gonna be nice to this guy. Or, you know,
I'll do something good for him. No, it's
Paul is explaining here. It's more than just
You know making them happy. It's spinning over backwards to serve
Mm-hmm, and then there's the word edification
Yes
and
to
Let's read it here.
Let every one of us please his neighbor
for his good to edification.
So edification is building up, improving, edifying.
When you edify somebody or something,
you are building it up, you are improving somebody or something, you are building it up.
You are improving somebody or something.
Yes, you're encouraging strengthening.
Again, these first two scriptures are telling us set aside your personal desires, focus
on others.
See, when you do that, the Lord will take care
of your desires.
And this one goes back to trusting,
having faith in the Lord, trusting Him
that if you do what He says, if you do to others
what He's told you to do,
He will do to you what you wish others would do to you,
but it will come from the Lord. Amen. We get hung up when we think,
well, I was really good to this person. They treated me like a dead skunk. Well, because you're looking to a person for the response and you
should be looking to God at all times. So, you know, get your mind off how others treat you.
It'll never get better. Just take my word for it.
Ain't that the truth? I've come to that conclusion in my seven. It'll never get better. It just won't. People are people. So, verse 3, for even Christ didn't please himself.
Praise God.
Who is our role model?
Who is our teacher?
Jesus Christ.
He didn't please himself.
He had the right to, he had the power to, he had the authority to, but he chose not
to. But as it is written, the reproaches
of those who reproached you fell on me. Jesus lived his life on this earth to please his father.
And he served people, he served humans, he pleased and he served people he served humans he
pleased his father but he served humans you don't see any place where he pleased
humans he pleased his father and he served humans that should be our example. Amen.
Please your heavenly Father and serve humans.
Don't get tripped up by
the responses or lack of responses
from the humans that you served.
Verse 3 is presenting Jesus as the ultimate example of selflessness, and we're
being encouraged to follow His lead in not pleasing ourselves, but in pleasing God our
Father. The phrase Christ pleased not himself speaks of the humility of Jesus Christ,
that we are to emulate His servant attitude, His servant heart. He pleased not himself.
heart
He pleased not himself
There's this is actually that there's a quotation in this verse
from Psalm 69
Yes, verse verse 9
The reproaches of them that reproach thee fell on me
Yes, because they when you're reading this verse like what you know
what what did paul just drop on us here but as it is written so he's quoting scripture he's quoting old covenant scripture um doc any any thoughts on what this means, Psalm 69, 9?
Other than, you know, the whole verse is, for the zeal of thine house hath eaten me
up, and the reproaches of them that reproach thee are fallen upon me.
In that, once again, Paul is emphasizing, and it's not about us. It's not about what we desire and
what our goals are and everything else, what we get out of the relationship, but what is
poured out on others, just as Christ poured Himself out for us. Christ, you know, in the
garden the night before His crucifixion, he prayed to the Father,
not my will, but thy will be done.
So even in that prayer, he's crying out,
you know, in the natural here, Father, I desire this cup to pass from me,
but this cup cannot pass from me because of my zeal for you, Lord, my zeal for you, Father.
Where to reflect that? Where to have that same compassion? I mean, Christ laid down his life
for his friends. Really, it's more than bending over backwards for someone, but to be willing to lay down your life
for a brother or sister in Christ. Yes.
That's how far this love should extend
in our own lives for our family.
So the word reproaches means the insults.
The insults of them that insulted you fell on me.
Right.
So what Paul is teaching here,
he's challenging all believers to accept criticism,
accept insults,
accept hardships for the sake of others' faith.
Yes.
You know, today we would just say,
hey, just push through.
Yes.
Push through.
Do what you got to do.
Put your big boy pants on.
Just do what you got to do.
You're being insulted.
You're being reproached.
You're being mocked for what?
Because of your zeal for God.
Right.
That's what, as Doc said,
that's what Psalm 69 is talking about,
the zeal for the Lord.
Right.
So by not pleasing himself when he walked this earth,
Jesus modeled love for us,
showed us a love that builds up others, and gave us an example to follow. Verse 4, for whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that
through perseverance and through encouragement of the scriptures, we might have hope. Now Paul's quoting old covenant scriptures. You know, there wasn't a new covenant Bible
in Paul's day. He was living it out. He was writing it as he went. They didn't have a
new covenant Bible. I mean, their lives were becoming the Bible.
That's right.
So whenever they quote scriptures, they're quoting the old covenant scriptures.
So in verse four, he's saying that the scriptures that were written long ago, think about that.
Paul wrote this 2000 years ago and he says, you know the old stuff?
You know the old, old scriptures?
I mean, we're going back now.
Far beyond 2000 years.
Right.
Words that Paul considered to be old, ancient.
But that he also considered to be scripture. And that's important because there's a tendency
among some in the Christian faith to discount the Old Testament or put it aside or ignore it.
But Paul states clearly here, that is scripture.
That's the Word of God, it's God-breathed.
And you can't discount it, you can't throw it out, you can't say, well, you know, it's
optional for us.
The scriptures that Paul had available to him, what we call the Old Testament,
he considered scripture.
God breathed words by the Holy Spirit through the apostle Paul.
So keep that in mind.
And that the scriptures of the Old Testament
were written for us, written for who's learning?
Our learning.
Our learning. In this day, in
Paul's day when he's speaking, but it extends to our day today. And so, I would encourage
you, don't think of the Old Testament as second-class scriptures. Not at all. It's
as real as the New Testament? Yes, however, I think a lot of modern Christians spend
too much time in the Old Covenant and not enough time or maybe no time in the New Covenant,
but you can't study and know and understand the new covenant without knowing the old covenant.
Right.
I mean, look what we're doing.
We're quoting old covenant scriptures as we study the new covenant.
So you have to, you have to, even when you're studying the new covenant, you're constantly
being told to go back to the old covenant and understand the meaning.
That's right.
There's a I don't know if you remember this expression, the new is in the old concealed the old is in the new revealed.
That's right.
How many times a new covenant do we read as it was written?
Yes. So you have to understand what was written,
but you understand it from the viewpoint of the new covenant, not from the viewpoint of
the old covenant. Because if you don't do that, you'll become what Doc calls an old covenant Christian.
You're trying to live a new covenant life,
but you're stuck in the old covenant.
But you do have to understand the old covenant
in order to understand the new covenant.
And that's why Paul's quoting the scriptures here.
So the phrase, whatsoever things were written aforetime,
is talking about the Old Testament. And he's emphasizing its ongoing relevance for
guiding the disciples' faith. Again, how many times have we learned in our study of the New Covenant Scriptures that both Jesus and the apostles were teaching
that the Jews lost sight of what the old covenant scriptures
meant.
Right.
That Jesus, you know, he was saying,
I'm not introducing something new.
Yeah.
And Paul continues that thing.
What the old covenant always said.
That's right.
And there's the view among some people
that the Old Testament, well, it's just law,
or it's old stuff, or it doesn't really apply to us. That's thousands of years old. At least
we have newer stuff, the New Testament. But there were three things that Paul said in
this verse that we gain from the Scriptures, and in this case, the Old Testament. What are the three things?
We learn patience, patience, comfort, and hope. And hope. And hope, yes. And so those are, we would call those
Christian principles today,
New Testament principles,
but they're all throughout the Old Testament scriptures.
Yeah, so the purpose of knowing the old covenant scriptures
is for our learning.
That's the reason he said it for our learning.
For whatever things were written before were written for our learning.
So they were written for us to know.
Yes.
That through perseverance and through encouragement.
King James says that through patience and comfort
of the scriptures, we might have hope.
So we learn the scriptures, that knowledge of the scriptures gives us strength to persevere,
and through the encouragement of the scriptures, we have hope.
There is not one problem you're facing today that you cannot find the solution in the word
of God.
Amen.
And whatever you're going through today, there are scriptures that will give you strength
and hope and perseverance.
You know, lots of times our problems don't disappear the moment we pray and say, God, I believe,
I've asked for this, I believe.
They don't go away right away.
But the prayer was answered right away.
Yes, there you go.
So now you have to trust that your heavenly father has
a divine plan for the solution of your problem. And that requires perseverance and patience.
Right. And that builds up your faith and your hope.
And there are two aspects of that. We're talking about perseverance and patience. Perseverance
means sticking with it and understanding God has a plan. That's God's plan side of it.
That's perseverance. The patience side is submitting to God's timing. So those are two aspects of that.
God has a plan, God has a time.
And the plan requires perseverance
and the time requires patience.
Excellent, Doc.
That's an excellent understanding.
understanding, the patience, the perseverance that challenges all of us to endure trials and hardships with faith because we trust God's word.
Somewhere in his word,
there's a promise to deal with your situation.
And we trust his word.
We trust him that just the knowledge of who he is.
I trust my father.
My father loves me.
And my father has a plan for me.
And my father will not abandon me.
He will get me through this situation.
And I'll be a better person at the other end.
Remember, that's always,
he's always working to make us better.
And that's why we have to have that perseverance, that patience and the comfort. That's the
encouragement. Yes. Because the Scriptures provide strength. The scriptures provide reassurance
because when we read the scriptures,
it reminds us of who we serve.
There are three words.
When I got up this morning, Doc,
I was working after I was working on got a head start on
Faith Friday. And the three words that were ringing in my ears early this morning.
I hope I remember them. Faith, trust, rest.
They all go together.
You can't have faith and not have trust.
And you can't have faith and trust
and not be in a state of rest.
You can only be in a state of rest
if you have faith and trust.
The three words are intertwined.
Faith, trust, rest.
Have faith in God, your Father,
trust in His care,
trust in His plan, and rest in it.
And let Him work things out.
So again, the comfort that Paul's speaking here is the encouragement that's in the Scriptures,
because the Scriptures are telling us who God is, why we can trust Him.
Look at the things He's done in the past. He is the great I Am. He's not the I Was. He still
does these things today. He hasn't lost His touch. No angel's saying, He ain't what he used to be. I
remember him back in his prime.
Like in the old days.
Yeah, he could he could park the Red Sea. He ain't done nothing
like that for a long time. No, nobody no angels talking like that. And your father gets up off the throne and walks down the
hallway of Heaven's Palace. bolts coming out of his sneakers.
Have his kids.
Yeah.
He's cool beyond anything you can imagine.
And he's not chariot of fire.
I mean, he's got a garage.
You talked about hot wheels.
His wheels have fire.
Okay.
He conceals himself behind the clouds. And then he pops out and he does this thing
on earth. Okay. He's awesome. Read the scriptures about him. Particularly in the Psalms, read who he is. Oh my, he's every child's dream father and more and beyond.
And when you understand that, when you see him who he is, then you can trust his plan. Amen.
You can then rest.
How can you rest?
My father's taking care of it.
He's awesome.
He said he would do it.
He's got a word. He gave me a word for it and I'm going to trust his plan.
How, why do I trust his plan?
Cause he loves me.
I'm just going to rest.
I'm going to lay back and rest.
Amen.
There are people today that need to hear that.
You're fretting. You're deeply worried about things.
Know who your Father is, trust his plan,
and rest in his love,
and let him solve your problems.
So, when we embrace the scriptures
and allow God to perform his scriptures in real time, See, that's what He wanted him to do.
He wrote these scriptures ancient times, but He wants to perform them in real time.
Amen.
Because the scriptures are alive. They're never dead, they're alive.
They have all the power today that they had when he spoke them thousands of years ago.
Verse five,
now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same
mind with one another according to Christ Jesus.
King James says, now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one
toward another
according to Christ Jesus.
He's, listen, he is the God of perseverance.
This doesn't say just you persevere and you be encouraged.
He is the God of perseverance and the God of encouragement
Amen.
This is part of his character.
He admits energy rays of perseverance and encouragement.
You get a glimpse of the Lord.
Like Isaiah, I saw the Lord high and lifted up.
And his train filled the temple.
I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what.
What?
You will persevere. You will be encouraged. You see Him high and lifted up.
You will be encouraged and you will persevere because you'll say, that's my God.
That's my Father.
And then you look down at your tiny, teeny weeny little problem and you go, you're done.
I'm sticking with my Father. And you go, you're done. Yes.
I'm sticking with my father.
I'm gonna persevere until you problem are gone.
Right.
Gone.
See, that's how he's the God of perseverance
and encouragement.
That's right.
You know, it's interesting here comparing verses four and five
that word comfort in verse four and the word consolation in verse five, in the Greek they're
the same word.
Why the King James translators did comfort in verse four and consolation in verse five,
I don't know.
But it's the very same word, periclesis. And so in verse four, Paul gives the instruction through scriptures,
you can learn patience and comfort.
And then in verse five, he says,
but you can also pray, and I'll pray with you.
Now the God of patience and comfort
grant you to be like-minded.
In other words, it requires more than the Word, but
the communication with the Father to impart this patience and comfort in the believer's
lives because you don't have it in yourself to be patient with your brother or sister
in Christ. You really don't have it in yourself. And even if you had the instruction from the
Word, you have
a difficult time doing it. You know how it is, Rick. There are people in your life, you just, you know,
you want to ignore them, you want to wring their necks. I mean, you, you know, you just get fed up
with them. But there comes a point in time where you have to ask God to give you that patience, to give you that comfort, that the word promises, but that God
grants. So verses four and five are intimately connected with one another.
So, okay, so, Doc, these things that we're told we should have is not, we don't have to go out
and look for it and find it. He supplies it.
That's right. He'll grant it. Paul's saying here, now the God of patience and consolation
slash comfort grant you. And Paul's agreeing with you on this. Paul, you know, hey, I got Paul
praying with me on this one, that God will grant me the patience I need, that God will grant me the comfort I need
in order to live in unity
with brothers and sisters in Christ.
So we're constantly going back to,
he is the source of all things.
Amen.
He is the source of the things he tells us we must have.
Amen.
He doesn't say, now look, I'm telling you right now,
you have to have these virtues perseverance encouragement comfort I you know I don't know where you're gonna get it you get out there
and find it I mean the word says it but you got to find it it's like he's he doesn't do
that to us he doesn't put demands on us and then tell us, now I don't know where you're going to get these virtues,
you go get it, because this is what I demand, this is what I expect.
No, He gives you the very things that He demands that we bring to Him.
Hallelujah.
He says we have to have faith and then he gives a measure of faith to everybody.
That's right.
Then he says, hey, it's up to you to expand it, but I'm here.
I'm giving you some faith.
Yeah.
Come on over.
I got more.
Yeah.
Everything, all good things come from him. All good things come from the Father.
He's the source of everything.
Whatever He's told you, you have to do, He has it.
And see, this has to do with finances too.
He says, bring Him an offering.
He says to finance the preaching of his gospel.
Well, he's not telling you, you gotta go find the money.
He says, just look to me, ask me.
Right.
I'll give you money so that you can bring an offering to me.
There's nothing that he requires that he does not give us.
It is amazing, Doc.
There's nothing God requires that he does not give us.
That we are to be like-minded one toward another.
What's the minded that we are to be like?
Persevering, encouraging, comforting.
Have the same attitude towards others.
We share a common commitment to the values of Jesus Christ
because that fosters harmony and unity in his church.
It also encourages believers to seek not going well in that department. Who do we go to?
We go to the one who said, be at peace with one another, be harmonious, be in unity.
We go to him and say, we're struggling with this right now.
Can you help us?
And he provides the help. He doesn't ever
require you to do something or be something that he doesn't provide for you to do it,
to please him. I think it's a revelation to somebody today.
Doc, I just feel somebody in the class has been trying so hard
with great sincerity to please God
and falling short because you felt it was your responsibility
to achieve or acquire the virtues
that he was requiring in his word.
And it never occurred to you
that he is the source of all those things.
You thought like a golden retriever, you had to go out and get it and bring it
to him. You know, golden retriever just happy as anything to bring you something.
That's right. He's waiting for you to throw something so you can bring it back to you. Mm-hmm.
My daughter used to have a chow.
And oh my, the name, she gave that dog a name, Ug Bug.
I don't even know how that name came about.
She said, well, I'll do.
The dog was the ugliest in the litter. And she was so ugly that we
we couldn't get rid of her. We felt that nobody would love her. That's how we kept her. All
right. She was a she was a big dog chow. And Doc, she would she would go. That dog
would love to, she would love to kill something and bring it to
me. She'd go get a rabbit, a squirrel, anything. And then
bring it and drop it right at my feet and look up at me. And then
she had this
wiggle that she would do.
Look what I got.
Yeah, I did this for you.
Look, I brought I brought this dead rabbit.
I killed this rabbit and brought it right up here and laid it at your feet.
And then she did this wiggle.
Maybe that's the way some Christians think they have to go out and find it.
These all these things, they they gotta they got their list
God says be this be this be this do this and
Okay, I'm gonna go out and try to find these things and and and bring it to the Lord to show him how much I
Love him. I want to please him but always falling short
Why because The source of those things was Him. He didn't have to
go anywhere. He just had to be in Christ. You're in Christ. You look around, go, hey,
here's all the things I need. I've been looking for these virtues. They're right here in Christ. All right, I'm gonna pick up some of this stuff.
Yeah, that's how easy it is in Christ.
Right.
I like what Charles Williams on our chat says here today.
It's not a scavenger hunt.
Okay. Right.
We don't have to go out.
Well, I've been looked under that rock
or I looked behind that tree or I looked over here
and over there and I can't find that thing
that God said I have to have.
No, no, no.
I just say, hey, quit looking.
All of it is in Him.
You are complete in Christ.
You are complete in Christ. everything you need is already in
him so if you are in Christ you have everything you need for six that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify God our Father, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So Paul's starting to bring this home.
He'd say, hey, the reason that we unite in heart and voice is to glorify God, the Father
of our Savior.
Yes.
Let's remember what this is all about. It is to glorify God, the Heavenly Father of our Savior.
Right.
So it's not just a matter of just being peace between us or getting together and singing
kumbaya.
The whole idea here is that we're to be of one mind, one mouth for the purpose.
What purpose?
His glory. His glory. Not for our glory, not for our relationships, but for His glory.
The purpose of man is to glorify God.
And to love Him forever.
And to enjoy Him.
Your purpose, the reason you were born was to glorify God and to enjoy Him.
See there are people that can glorify God but they really don't enjoy Him.
Oh my, oh my.
You got to enjoy him.
You know, a child, a son or daughter who is respectful and
obedient to his father or mother, that's good. But do they really enjoy being with their father or mother?
Do they enjoy it? Or do they just do the obedience out of sense of
responsibility? They know right from wrong, okay, I'm going to obey my father, I'm going
to obey my mother. But their mind is not... They might even speak kind things about them,
but they don't enjoy the father or mother's presence.
Yes.
They have the mouth, but not the mind.
Yes, for the heart.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So Paul says with one mouth, with one mind,
with one mind, to be in one accord,
we are to share a unified purpose in honoring God.
With one mouth, we sing collective praise
and that requires worshiping together.
You can't be a isolated loner Christian in the body of
Christ. Amen. Because you are how can you implement this of one mouth? It doesn't
say you alone never associating with anybody else.
It's talking about unity with one mind, with one mouth.
To do what?
Glorify the father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To focus our worship, our unified collective worship
must be on God the Father of Jesus Christ.
And so that this unity in our worship strengthens the witness of the church.
Amen. Hallelujah. And isn't that what we're doing here today?
Yes.
And one more verse, verse seven.
King James, wherefore receiv ye one another as Christ also received us to the glory of God?
World English Bible, therefore accept one another,
even as Christ also accepted
you to the glory of God. So this verse is encouraging us as believers to
warmly accept others and to mirror Christ's acceptance of all of us to bring glory to His Father.
That's right. So when Christ received us, Rick, He didn't demand perfection of us.
He didn't demand certain things from us, but received us by grace.
Yes.
All He asked is that we believe him. Believe him.
So Christ did not accept us on the basis of anything we did or anything we could do, but
with grace alone.
And Doc, you said that when Christ received us, you know, at time of salvation, but he
continues to receive us.
Yes.
We are in a perpetual state of being received, embraced, welcomed by Jesus Christ.
And so he doesn't cast anybody out of his church.
I have to be honest with you, Rick. This is a difficult concept for me.
I won't say, you know, super hard, but it's hard for my mind to comprehend it in that
I can believe Christ accepted me, but I would have a difficult time accepting some people, even some brothers or sisters in the Lord,
because of what I perceive their behavior, their attitude, or whatever it might be.
But then I have to be... I'm humbled by this today. I'll be upfront with you that Christ didn't demand that of me.
He accepted me by grace, and yet I'll put up a wall.
And continues to accept you to this very second by grace.
And yet I'll put up walls and I'll hold back. I'll defend myself and not open my heart up, open my life up to someone.
That's hard.
And that's why we have to pray for God to give that grace.
Because we can't do it ourselves, Rick.
There's nothing in us.
I look at my life right now and all I see is ash
compared to that. I mean, and yet the scripture demands it of me that I'm to receive others as Christ received me.
Yes, receive ye one another. That means we welcome all believers regardless of differences, regardless of their, the state of their
walk with Christ at that moment. You welcome, you receive one
another as Christ also received us. This speaks of Jesus's unconditional acceptance of sinners,
inspiring us to emulate His grace. Look, there are only two classes of people, humans in the world, unsaved centers and saved centers.
All centers.
Oh, you know, people don't like to be told that.
Well, wait a minute.
Wait, wait.
Don't call me a center.
No, you're either unsafe center or you're a saved sinner.
You tell me when you stop being a sinner.
Give me the date, tell me the date. Now saved sinners are also saints
because you can't have unsaved saints.
That's right.
But we're all sinners.
But we just saved sinners.
By faith, God declares you to be a saint.
He does that by faith, not by sight.
God doesn't walk by sight.
He looks at you and me and he says, they're saints.
And what does saint mean?
Sanctified, holy, set apart.
It's God that does that.
You think we sanctify ourselves? You think we
saint ourselves? Saint Doc? No, it's God that does that. God alone. God's grace. It
says, He is my chosen vessel. He's holy. He's still a part of the sanctified.
Even when we fail, no matter how miserably, the moment we repent and we are truly remorseful for our sins,
God continues to call you a saint. He does it by faith. He says, I don't walk by sight,
I walk by faith. And I say, you are redeemed. I say, you are saved. I say, you are forgiven.
I say, you are sinless. He's doing that by faith.
You and I aren't sinless, but God says, I say it by faith.
Amen.
How could God not operate by faith?
He's a faith God.
Imagine God operating by sight. That's scary, isn't it, Doc? Think of God operating by sight,
not by faith. Well, he would destroy everything. He'd say, this thing, this is a mess.
That's right. So, mutual acceptance of one another builds up the church, and that glorifies God, and that unites us in a shared mission to be a witness of the love of Christ to a dead and sinful world.
That's what he's seeking to do with us here.
Right.
Okay, well that's it for today.
All right. Great lesson day, Rick. And I'm encouraged by it and I know others are too.
We had nearly 400 people with us again today. And we thank you for joining us for this live
edition of Morning Manna. I encourage you to be here with us every day. And just a reminder, tomorrow is Faith Friday, however Rick has continued his series every Friday here in the
year 2025. We are emphasizing faith, building up your faith to believe more, to do more,
and be more in Christ. And so be sure to tune in again tomorrow with us. And just a reminder that if you're wanting to share
Morning Manor with friends and family,
you can do this right now because we are streaming
Morning Manor on True News.
It's available for everyone.
So if you want to share Morning Manor with other believers
that aren't part of the current community and everything. I
encourage you to do so. Just point them to truenews.com and we are streaming the
morning manna episode of that day. We do it twice a day right now at 10 a.m. and
3 p.m. And so just a reminder to you that if you're wanting to share this you can
and we would encourage you to do so.
But just a reminder, tomorrow is Faith Friday.
It's also the day we commemorate the Lord's table.
So be sure to prepare for that with bread and either grape juice or red wine,
and have that available to us.
And we'll have that opportunity to share the cup and the loaf of Christ tomorrow.
Any other words before we sign off for today, Rick?
No, Doc. I just enjoy reading the chat.
And it's enlightening to see how the people are responding.
I can never read it as I'm teaching.
The only time I get a chance to read it is the last few minutes here.
But it encourages me to see how morning manna is touching lives.
And that's our mission now, is to expand morning manna
and greatly increased the distribution and add to the number of people who are
attending a morning man of Bible lesson every day. Right. All right everybody. Hey, be grateful
we got up today and India and Pakistan did not nuke each other while we slept. That's right.
So be grateful. We're that close right now. It is. It is something to keep an eye on
today. So all right, everyone, be sure to join us again tomorrow on Morning Manna and Faith Friday.
God bless you. We love you very much. Remember unity in Christ and sacrificial love for one
another. In Jesus name, God bless you. We'll see you tomorrow.
