Good morning, everybody.
Welcome to Morning Manna.
Today is Wednesday, November 5th, 2025, and we are very honored that you are here with us today,
wherever you are in the world, and whatever time of day.
The Morning Manna class meets in real time at 8 a.m. Eastern Time,
Monday through Friday, at Faith and Values.com.
And we would invite you to join us at that.
that time if you if you're able to if not um you you can watch or listen a video on demand
or audio on demand later in the day the main thing is you have set aside an hour of your day
to study the holy word of god now yesterday we began our study of chapter 16 of the book of
Proverbs. And today we're going to continue with verses 6 through 9, only four verses today.
Let's pray, invite the Holy Spirit, and then Doc can read the word. Father God, our Father
in heaven, you are so wonderful. You are so good.
Father, I bless you.
I bless you and praise you.
Father, we adore you.
We love you.
We are deeply grateful to be in your family.
Father, we humbly ask for the Holy Spirit's presence in this morning man of class
to teach us your word, to make us better disciples,
to make us better citizens.
your son's kingdom. In his name, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen. Amen. God bless everyone.
Glad to have you here with us here on a beautiful Wednesday morning here in Florida.
We're here in Beal Beach, Florida, broadcasting around the world. And we have an audience that
stretches all the way from Russia to Australia, Japan to Brazil, Malaysia, to Canada, and all
points across the U.S. We welcome you today to this Bible study. We're continuing to
our study in Proverbs. We're in chapter 16. We're going to be focusing on verses 6 through 9 today,
6 through 9. So if we want to turn to chapter 16, the book of Proverbs, I'm going to read from
the King James. Before our class began, we had a brief discussion, I guess in the pregame show,
talking about Bible translations and everything. And someone asked why I use the King James.
And I said, well, it's because it's what I'm familiar with, what I study from, what I preach from.
they were asking for some recommendations on we like the world english bible uh we like uh the
modern english version uh new american standard uh those tend to be pretty accurate but just keep in mind
that the king james isn't perfect nor any of these other translations perfect either but that's why
we study the word together so that we come and discern what the word of god says and so uh that that was
just a preference there for folks. Today's theme throughout our passage is mercy and truth,
and I think you're going to see that stand out as we begin reading verse 6. By mercy and truth,
iniquity is purged, and by fear of the Lord, men depart from evil. When a man's ways please the
Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness
than great revenues without right. And then verse 9, a man's heart. A man's heart
deviseth his way but the Lord directeth his steps God bless the reading of his
word today amen so doc when I was when I started praying I don't know if you
notice that I had a big grin and what was bubbling up inside my heart was
to sing a song written by Eddie Fisher
You got to be my age to know who Eddie Fisher was, okay?
It was a great singer back in the 50s and 60s.
But as I started to pray, the lyrics of his song, it was written in past tense.
I'm going to quote him in present tense.
It was, oh, my papa, to me you are so wonderful.
Oh, my papa, to me, you are so good.
No one could be so gentle and so lovable.
Oh, my papa.
He always understood.
You always understood.
That's why I was smiling.
That song was bubbling up inside of me.
I always felt like the Lord was saying, go on, Rick.
Sing it.
Sing it to me.
All right.
I'm like, Lord, I'll sing it to you in private.
All right.
I'm not going to do it.
and I don't I don't feel comfortable doing it on the internet you know but that's that's what my that's what my heart desired to say Papa you are so wonderful
you are so good you're so gentle and lovable you always understood I think it goes with today's verses so yesterday
we studied chapter 16 verses 1 through 5 and and we learn that while humans may plan and they speak and they act the outcome belongs to the Lord whose wisdom guides us and governs us every step of the way the verses yesterday 1 through 5 challenged us to commit our work
and our motives to God
and that he would establish
which actually means
stabilizes our thoughts
and that he alone judges our hearts
but it warned that
pride opposes God's divine order
that the humble find
favor under God's grace
now
we're going to study
a cluster today and that's what I do each day we take clusters usually five
five verses in a cluster today it's four and the reason is because tomorrow's lesson
begins a new cluster with with verse 10 so I'm trying to keep these clusters together
today's cluster is
verses 6 through 9
and it bridges
the sovereignty of God
with man's responsibility
to live rightly
and it explains how sin
is forgiven and how
our righteousness is maintained
through
mercy and truth
and fear
reverent fear
reverent fear
so we'll begin with
chapter 16 verse 6
by mercy and truth
iniquity is purged
and by the fear
of the Lord men depart
the
subtoagent is almost
identical by mercy and truth
iniquities are purged and by the fear
of the Lord everyone departs from evil
mercy and truth are covenant terms
in the old covenant and the new covenant
they describe God's steadfast love
his faithful integrity
it's why a song oh my papa
you are so wonderful to me see our father wishes for us to know how much he loves us yes it's beyond our comprehension it's beyond our comprehension
And when you begin to understand how much he loves you,
your heart will desire to never disappoint him.
So mercy and truth expressed the character of God revealed in redemption.
Yes.
a love a love that pardons a truth that upholds justice in the old covenant sacrifices symbolized
atonement animal sacrifices sacrifice a symbolized atonement in the new covenant
Jesus Christ embodies both mercy and truth and not just as a symbol but
as the actual sacrifice that's right and the old covenant the animals they were
just symbols so forgiveness is not a contradiction of justice it is the
fulfillment of justice
in divine faithfulness i think some people think well if i forgive i'm letting them off the hook
they haven't paid for what they did well you don't want to pay for what you did either
you don't you don't have enough credits you're bankrupt remember blessed are the poor and
spirit we're bankrupt you don't have any chips on the table you got nothing to play the game
with okay to be talking about you know i'm not going to forgive somebody they need to pay they need to
pay they need to feel some pain they need to hurt oh you don't want god to say that about you
By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged.
We don't have to discuss what iniquity is.
Everybody knows what iniquity is.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's what you did when nobody was looking.
Right.
Okay.
You can just put a label on it.
Purged.
purged literally means atone for it's anticipating the cross of calvary where sin is atoned for yes so this verse in the old covenant unites the theological doctrine of atonement with
sanctification. Right.
Doc, the mercy of God
removes guilt
and the truth of God
removes deceit.
Amen.
You see the purpose of the two
by mercy and truth,
iniquity is purged.
And it's interesting that those words are
like that mercy and truth because in the Hebrew there is no and between those words. It would
read something like by mercy truth, inequity is purged. And what that means is this is in Hebrew is one
of the languages that does this. They form a covenant relationship of words. In other words,
you can't really have one word without the other word. They're bonding.
together here in this sentence they're not two separate concepts they're so
intertwined with each other they become one and so the idea here is by mercy and
truth that's a covenant relationship and God is making making a promise by my
covenant mercy by my covenant truth I will purge your iniquity yes so God
forgiveness always produces a moral change in the center. The sinner responds by becoming a servant
of truth. If there's no moral change in the center, what was the purpose of God's
forgiveness he forgives those who are remorseful repentance means repentance is not saying i'm sorry
i'll never do that again you caught me i'm sorry repentance means i recognize i've been traveling the
wrong path.
I'm going in the wrong direction.
I'm going to change directions
and go another way.
God forgives our sins
when we repent.
When we show God,
we're changing
the way we're walking,
the direction in which we're walking.
That's what he's after.
Hey, you got off the righteous path.
You got to
over here on this you got sideways over here this is taking you into trouble you recognize it you
repent and you go i'm getting back on the right path and god says great i forgive your sin
it's just that simple and we go like that all through life we're walking in the straight path
we get sideways we repent we get back on the straight path we go on the straight path for a while we get
sideway. That's the way we
walk, isn't it?
Yes.
Don't beat yourself
up because you've done it.
Praise the Lord that
he's so merciful and kind.
He pities us.
Think of it. He pities us.
Mercy
would be indulgence and truth without mercy would be despair so god's grace is both tender and true and that creates
holy mercy amen by the fear of the lord men depart from evil
reverent all a love a reverence that trembles
trembles in awareness of God's greatness of his majesty of his holiness
a faith that obeys the person the man or woman who has tasted mercy
will fear ever
offending again the giver of that mercy.
Let me say that again.
The man or woman who has tasted God's mercy
will fear ever offending again
the giver of that mercy.
Amen.
That's the fear of the Lord.
by the fear of the lord men depart from evil when you have when god has bestowed mercy on you
and forgiveness for something terrible you did horrible and you realize he didn't beat you up he
didn't cast you out into a ditch and say get out of here
He didn't reject you.
He didn't condemn you.
He didn't punish you.
He didn't put you in the doghouse.
Instead, he embraced you.
Amen.
He embraced you and hugged you and kissed your cheek and said,
I forgive you.
Let's work this out.
Let's walk the right way.
Let me show you why this happened.
Let me show you.
show you what's happening in your life that's causing this this sin let's get this taken care of
see all that is god's mercy all of it is this mercy when he says let me let me do open heart
surgery on you let me get down deep inside your heart let's get into your brain and see
what's in your brain yes okay let's what's tormenting your mind
God, that's his mercy, to deliver you, to deliver you from ever offending him again.
This, this fear is not terror. It's the awareness of God's presence.
guiding our conscience and it's loving so forgiveness will lead to holiness and when
sin is purged reverence for god will grow so the order of this verse is crucial
By mercy and truth, and equity is purged, by the fear of the Lord, men depart from evil.
Atonement precedes Reformation.
We think we have to be reformed before we can be atoned.
Yeah.
We're putting it back on ourselves again.
Oh, we have to.
fix this. It's up to us to fix this. I send. I made a mistake. I got to do all these things
to get myself right so I can be atoned. Okay. What's that one thing that you're going to do
that's going to make everything perfect? What is that thing? I don't know, Doc. I gave up trying to
find it. I'll give you a hint. It's nothing. There's nothing you can do. It was all done.
on the cross right when you get this down inside you you will be liberated you'll be liberated
you'll have joy because you realize it doesn't have anything to do with me it was all done on the
cross jesus said it is finished period there it is done done the work was
done he wasn't saying i'm finished this is it i'm dying he said my work the reason i'm on this
cross it's finished our atonement the purging of our sin comes before our reformation
God goes first.
Yes.
He goes first.
Why?
Because he sees our heart.
When he sees the sorrow,
when he sees the remorsefulness in us,
he then takes the first step.
Amen.
So genuine repentance is the fruit of both mercy and all.
Grace melts.
what guilt
hardened
grace
melts what guilt
hardened
grace is
an energy, a substance
that we can't
describe it.
What is it?
is it just a word or is it something it's something from heaven not just a word so the fear of the lord turns forgiveness
into faithfulness and his mercy reconciles us to our father and our fear of him keeps us near him
forgiven of something grievous to the Lord you cling to him like a child
clinging to his or her father saying you know when a child's been lost you know you're
like at an amusement park or in a some setting where there's a lot of people crowd and the
child wanders away and gets along doesn't really intend to do anything bad just you know
children are you know their attention is is uh distracted they see something they go wandering off
and then the fear hits them i can't find my heart
father i'm lost i can't find my father and they realize i don't know where i'm at i'm lost and when
the father finds them the child clings to the father crying daddy daddy i was so afraid i couldn't find
you this is this is this fear that the scripture's talking
about that when we get lost and we realize I'm really in trouble and our father finds us
and he wipes away the tears we're clinging to him and what was that little child saying
daddy I'll never leave you again I won't I won't hold my hand please hold my hand
daddy hold my hand right see they're afraid I don't want to ever leave you again
That's what this verse is teaching.
By the fear of the Lord, men depart from evil.
I promise, Daddy, I'll never go over there again.
I'll never do it again.
I'll never go over there.
It's the fear of the Lord.
So mercy and truth deal with past guilt,
and the fear of the Lord governs present conduct.
Amen.
Mercy and truth bring peace with God.
Fear of the Lord produces purity before God.
Amen.
I like that.
Mercy and truth revealed divine character of God.
The fear of the Lord reflects divine holiness.
Mercy and truth justifies the sinner.
The fear of the Lord sanctifies the saint.
the harmony in these verses is revealing the gospel in a miniature form grace to cleanse fear to keep
keep that formula in your mind today grace to cleanse fear to keep see the same god who
forgives also transforms he's not done with you when he forgives oh no no no oh he'll forgive but he's not
done with you he wants to get to the root of this problem what caused this sin let's deal with that source
what is it
where did this come from
and then
he's working on you
he's getting inside your heart
inside your mind
don't be afraid of the
of the surgeon
he's a good surgeon
he's a good doctor
he's there to save you
you want to be looking up at the surgeon you know you're awake that's the thing he does open heart
surgery and you're awake you're looking up what do you see doc hey let me tell you what i'm
looking at right now is it bad yeah it's bad can you get it out yeah i can get it out is it going
to hurt maybe a little bit okay pull it out doc pull it out
see he he's not going to leave you just in a forgiven state he wants you in a transformed state
if it's just forgiven you're probably going to do it again
and he'll have to forgive you again and he will yes but you're not making any progress
he desires to move us to the next stage
he wants to move you from milk to meet
yes
at some point
he says you've got to get on the operating table
you got to let me look inside you
let's do a scan
he's the only surgeon
he doesn't need any equipment to do a scan
his eyes do it
he just scans you see the christian faith is not merely a pardon received but it's got to be holiness pursued
you can't just stop at my sins are forgiven yes praise god or all yes hallelujah but you have to move on
and on that journey
you'll be doing great
and then there'll be a speed bump
and there'll be a pothole
it doesn't mean you were a hypocrite
doesn't mean you were phony
it just means hey
we're at a point in this journey
we've got to
we've got to fix
something before we can go on
the rest of the journey
there's a rest stop here there's a pit stop we got to go in here and have some service done to continue the journey
doesn't mean that your journey up to that point was fake it's just no god brought you to a place where he says
now at this point we're going to do an operation and i'm going to get some more mileage out of you
and you're going to run smoother.
Your engine's going to hum.
You're going to go faster.
What's he doing?
He's purifying our lives so that we bring glory to him.
Amen.
Matthew Henry said,
the mercy of God is the spring and his truth the channel
through which sin is pardoned
and when the heart reverence becomes a hedge against evil
amen that's good
Charles Bridges
the beams of mercy and truth meet in the cross
their iniquity is purged
mercy and truth yes
the beams okay
all right think of the beams
you got mercy and truth
he said
their iniquity is purged
from that sight
springs the fear
that keeps the soul
from returning to folly
Charles Simeon
he that is forgiven
much fears much
mercy softens the heart
truth steadies it
fear guards it
Alexander McLaren
The fear of God is not the dread of a slave
but the devotion of a child who dreads to grieve his father
Right
Charles Spurgeon
Mercy and truth are the two angels
That bring the penitent to peace
Fear of the Lord is the same
sentinel that keeps him there.
All right.
Let's move on to verse 7.
Wow.
We spent 35 minutes on one verse.
Was there that much in that verse?
We could keep going.
There's more.
All right.
Verse 7.
When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
You know, I hear this verse quoted a lot, but not lived out a lot.
I know.
Septuagin is identical.
When the ways of a man please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be a peace with him.
The ways of a man, a man or woman, okay?
The ways refer to the course of life, habits, motives, intention, direction.
the ways your ways you know we always say he's got his ways yes just his way yeah she's stuck in her
ways okay well you know what that means that's the way they've been doing it and they're probably
going to continue doing it so when the way you've been doing it and the way you're going to continue
doing it pleases the lord he makes your enemies be a peace with you
to please the Lord means living in harmony with his will his plan not just performing good deeds
but walking in agreement with his character right so we think that we're pleasing the
Lord by the things that we're doing for him but
we're not in agreement with his character the words of our mouth the attitudes are in our mind are
all our ways the ways that we talk about people the ways that we treat family members or friends
or enemies our ways they're not pleasing right so the question is is there a way
your life that's not pleasing the lord i mean not we're not talking acceptable to the lord but giving him
delight yes that's what the word really means is uh we think of please oh well i you know i hope that
pleases that person or whatever no no no no it has a much deeper meaning it means delight
it means more than just well okay i'm happy with uh no it's like wow i'm very very happy with that
I'm pleased with that.
Doc.
Old Testament
prophet Enoch.
He just disappeared.
He didn't die. He didn't die.
Nobody ever found his body.
He was just walking with the Lord one day.
I like to think that they were just walking along
Rick and the Lord said to
Enoch, you know, we're closer to my place than
yours. Why don't you just come on home with me?
Yes.
But why? What
does the Bible say about Enoch?
He pleased God.
Yes.
And then it says
and was no more.
That's right. And was not.
Was not. He was not.
He disappeared
with the Lord.
He disappeared.
he was that pleasing to the Lord the Lord should come home with me yeah yeah just come on over to my place
hang out so are you you know that's a real challenge in our lives isn't it do our ways please
the Lord enough with the Lord would just say won't you come out hang out I like you know I'd like
for you come out hang out at my place I know that's a real challenge the fact
that we're still here. What does that say?
I'm walking closer.
I'm getting closer.
I'll keep walking.
Religion tries to impress God,
but not delight him.
Yes.
Okay?
Religion seeks to impress God,
not delight him.
him. He doesn't need to be impressed. He desires to be delighted. He desires that we put a
smile on his face. So when our conduct aligns in right standing with his ways, when our ways
become his ways
he then becomes our defender
and he diffuses
hostility towards us
so pleasing
the Lord begins in secrecy
before it is
manifested in public
behavior
so the root of peace
with men is peace with God.
Yeah, you know, in the Summer of the Mount
where Jesus said, Blessed are the peacemakers.
Well, I hear that use so often when it comes to,
well, most recently with Donald Trump
and the supposed ceasefire deal in the Middle East
and everything, blessed are the peacemakers.
But really, true peacemakers can't
make peace with others until they've made peace with God, can they, Rick?
That's right.
That's right.
The most essential thing each of us can do is to be at peace with God.
Amen.
All right.
Remember yesterday, David, King David, search my heart, oh, Lord.
What was that? David asking?
Is there anything inside of me you don't like?
Yeah.
He maketh even his enemies to be a peace with him.
God causes, God himself does it.
He causes peace to arise where hostility once stood.
It doesn't.
mean that your enemies like you.
It just means they stop. They find
somebody else to hate. They move
on. They go someplace else.
Doesn't mean
that they like you.
It just means
the Lord diffuses their
hostility towards you.
Now,
this is not a promise of freedom from
opposition.
But it is a promise
that God has control over
its outcome.
Amen.
I mean, Apostle Paul
had enemies.
But somehow, God can
transform
hostility into harmony.
He can
soften hearts.
And he can make
adversaries powerless.
sometimes the way he does it is he strips your enemy of their power they may still hate you they just can't do anything about it i like that he'll set a table for you in the presence of your enemies he'll make your enemies watch you eat a buffet from heaven and they can't do anything about it
So
I want to get down to this
John Gill said
Peace with enemies
is of the Lord's making
He inclines their hearts to kindness
Restrains their wrath
Or takes them out of the way
That's another
I didn't even
Sometimes your enemy dies
all right that's the extreme notice it says there he makes even his enemies to be at peace with
it he makes it in other words it's in god's sovereign plan yes god will i it's tough for me to
reconcile but i i still accepted how does god make an enemy to be at peace with me does he
violate free will i don't ask stupid questions like they just said the word says it just believe it
But sometimes, Doc, when somebody will not respond to the Lord's pressure,
I'm talking about an enemy, the last resort is the Lord removes that man or woman,
just takes them out of the earth.
That's right.
And one day your enemy is gone.
And you have peace.
The person who was persecuting you, harassing.
you, vexing you,
sabotaging you,
just making your life miserable,
suddenly that person's not here.
Yes.
Alexander McLaren,
men who walk with God are too strong
for human hate.
It breaks against them as waves
against a rock.
Was that McLaren?
Yes.
I had another quote from McLaren
that stood out to me
was,
God holds the leash on the dogs of hostility.
Oh.
God holds the leash on the dogs of hostility.
I thought, man, that's an incredible picture there.
There's still mean dogs.
Yeah, but God's got the leash.
He's got a leash on them.
They're growling.
They're snarling, but they can't get to you.
Verse eight.
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
Septuagint, better is a small portion with righteousness than great revenues without justice.
Identical.
So better is a little with righteousness.
The literal Hebrew says good is a little in righteousness.
Good is a little in righteousness.
It's showing moral quality over material quantity.
Yes.
So in God's economy, he measures wealth by purity, not possession.
Purity over possession.
so a little here refers not only it does refer to money but to any any limited portion of worldly success or comfort
obviously righteousness here means upright living integrity of heart alignment with God's ways
so it's teaching us that the soul that walks upright
in alignment with God's ways
enjoys peace even in scarcity
so the righteous
man or woman's portion is better
because it's blessed and it's guiltless
right
over in the Psalms
Psalm 37, verse 16
says, a little that is a little
that a righteous man has
is better than the richest of many wicked.
And just remember, God's little
lasts longer than the world's much.
Amen.
He can stretch your little.
And
the sweetness of a clean,
conscience outweighs the prosperity of corrupt success people with a clean
conscience go to bed at night and sleep well wealthy people who cheated their way
to success don't sleep well revenues then great revenues without right obviously
Revenous means income, harvest, profit, success, the produce of your labor and trade.
And that phrase without right, it means it's the same kind of idea or phrase that goes with unjust scales, unjust weights and measures.
Yes, without justice.
Right.
You cheated.
Great revenue.
through cheating, through injustice, financial gain that violated moral laws.
So it's telling us that unjust wealth comes with invisible losses, namely peace.
number two divine favor
Amen
So the ungodly may possess a lot
But they can't enjoy it
It's like
Doc
Being a corrupt
wealthy man or woman
Is like
It's like eating
a feast
and the table
is a tomb
okay you're eating a feast
but you don't have a dinner table
it's a tomb
try
you're having a buffet
and a mausoleum
yeah
I mean who would go to a mausoleum
for a buffet meal
when you say
hey this is kind of creepy
without right without justice it speaks of the injustice of the heart the refusal to let god
rule over one's motives and the means by which they gain success
Charles Bridges
The comparison is not of quantity but quality
What is clean the little is solid gain
What is foul though much is dust and ruin
Albert Barnes
The peace of righteousness outweighs the pomp of wealth
Justice sanctifies little
Injustice profanes abundance
Charles Simeon
It is better to be a poor saint than a prosperous sinner
But one has God for his portion
The other has nothing but vanity
Alexander McLaren
The glitter of gain
hides the grime of guilt
Ooh
Gain
hides the grime of guilt
But righteousness gilds poverty
With peace
Charles Spurgeon you're going to like this one doc
A crumb from God's table
is better than a feast from the devil's pantry
A little
A little with a blessing is better than a mountain with a curse
One more verse
Verse 9
A man's heart deviseth his way
But the Lord directs his steps
all the translations are the same right and this kind of goes back to that same theme we had yesterday
on that too with same concept here yeah so we're wrapping up these two sets these two clusters
right and then in verse 10 we'll start tomorrow we begin a new cluster
so deviseth means to devise means to plan to arrange
if you're planning if you're arranging there's deliberate intention a man's heart
devises his ways we know that the heart is speaking about the center of our being
our reason our motives our heart our i mean our feelings our intentions it's all in our heart
the scripture is not condemning planning in fact there are other scriptures other scriptures
tell us the plan right yesterday we talked about planning right and we you know throughout the
old testament and the new testament too but throughout the old testament there is the uh obvious concept
of choosing the lord choosing him making a plan to follow
after him. And so it's not just a matter of us floating around like some sort of leaf on the wind
where it just takes us anywhere. Know that there's human agency involved. But that this verse also
describes the limits of that too. Yes. Our plans and God made us to be thinkers. He made us to be
planners to be builders. That's in our nature. We're creators. We're we're we're we're
We're like our father.
We're made in the family business.
He's in the creation business.
Yes.
We're made in his likeness and image.
But our plans are finite and they're fallible.
They're limited and they're flawed.
Our plans.
The future is beyond our vision.
We think that we're,
Doc,
first time I saw
if I'm pronouncing his name
Masa So
Mr. Son
The man
Let's just stick with that.
Yeah, Mr. Son, I can say
the Japanese billionaire
who owns
soft bank
and I
Paul and I
we saw him in Barcelona
2017
and Mr. Son was bragging
that his corporation had a
300 year plan
and everybody was in all
you know because you got all these corporate
executives there you know hey
if they have a five year plan that's big
this guy's got a 300 year plan
it's just vanity
just vanity
and I think
if he'd talk long enough he would have said
and we're going to invent a technology
to allow me to live another 300 years
I wouldn't doubt it
so
yeah so our plans seem wise until god rearranges the path
he doesn't mix it up to say hey now i messed up your plan no he's like i see your plan
it's got some it's got some problems okay i'm going to rearrange it and and help you get
there so the best of our plans
must bow before the Lord's perfect plan.
He's got a greater design.
He has a perfect will.
So if you plan without prayer,
that's presumption.
You're presuming your plan's going to work.
And what about praying without planning?
then you're really just wishing that you're really just wishing aren't wishing yes but planning
with in prayer with god's guidance is prudence so god honors thoughtful stewardship but he will
overrule self-willed ambition because it's not going to be good for us so the man or woman who
devises plans must remain humble we have to know that our the drafts of our plans are subject
to divine revision you have to come to the place where you say okay lord here's the best plan i
can come up with now you you take it from here that's the best way lord i've thought this through
i've worked it out here's my plan i give it to you i commit my plan to you what did we study yesterday
we commit our plans to the lord that means roll it over on him now lord take my
little plan and you supersize it you make it perfect amen and what i've learned in life is that god
will take our plans for things that we desire to do for him good things where we think the
destination is the important thing where we're going to be when we accomplish this plan and
God says, no, the journey to the destination is the important thing.
Because I'm going to work on you.
I'm going to tinker under the hood.
I'm going to mess with your engine while you're trying to get to that destination.
See?
Why?
Because when you get to the destination, I don't want you to be the same person you are now.
Amen.
so the lord directs his steps the lord establishes the lord arranges the lord makes firm there's divine
control over your steps god not only supervises the destination but also the sequence of steps that lead to it
he orders your steps
yes
it's just a lot easier just to submit
to submit to his perfect will
his plan
go ahead and give him your plan it's okay
he desires you to give him a plan
Doc knows I work on plans all the time
oh yes
because I have to think through
Lord I believe you're telling me to do these things for your kingdom
I'm taking this seriously
the fact that I'm working on these plans is proof
it's my proof to you that I'm taking this assignment very seriously
and yet I know that my plans are limited
and I need him to direct my steps
that's why when we go on uh to these conferences and to these events and other things like that
always like to pray lord give us divine appointments and divine conversations uh and reason why is
because he he's bringing us to these particular events and things we've made the plans and everything
but god has another plan has another sovereign plan uh i'm thinking recently we attended a conference and
it was a dud i mean you know the one i'm talking about rick yes all right and i but the more i look
back on it and started reflecting on that is that all right we found a sector that has
absolutely no bearing on what we're doing say we know what to avoid moving forward now and so
yes and so that cleared out a lot of uh stuff we thought was important but uh it really
pointed us in a different direction so the lord
has divine conversations and divine appointments for us not just for special events but throughout the day
and then and always think god's always got a conversation that he wants to have was somewhere
throughout the day god's got a conversation that he wants you to be a part of all right what i'm
thinking about right what picture i've got in my mind doc to understand this the
verse okay uh verse nine a man's heart devises his way but the lord directs his steps
when you get in your automobile or truck either on your phone or if you have a GPS in your
dashboard um you you enter in a destination
I'm going to this city, this address.
You put in the destination.
This is where I desire to go.
And the GPS then comes back,
sometimes with even two or three suggestive root,
suggested routes.
Yes.
One route takes 30 minutes more.
than the other route.
But there's no tolls.
But there are no tolls.
So you're given a choice.
Think of that when we give God our plans, Lord, I desire to go there.
This is where I desire to end up, whether it's in your career, in your finances, your marriage, your family, your health, whatever it is.
You're telling him the destination, the goal.
He responds back like a GPS.
a divine GPS, here are the roots.
Here's the one I recommend.
But the Lord directs his steps.
So what do we do?
Why do we follow a GPS
easier than we follow God?
We get in an automobile or truck
and we don't have any problems
obeying a GPS.
we're taking by faith really that the GPS is correct aren't we yes and we make turns and stops
and we do all this stuff because the GPS tells us to do it right an invisible signal went to a device
think about this and a signal that you cannot see touch taste to manipulate or anything else
told you to go someplace yes so our our plan sketches the path but god determines the root
but the lord's governance includes both interference meaning he'll change our course
and influence he'll guide our will
on the journey to getting what we're after we may decide we're not even after that anymore
amen because he shows us something better
that ever happened to you like you know what i really don't i really that's not really
what i desire okay yeah i know i got you this far to let you see it
he frustrates our plans to fulfill his purposes.
But our peace rest in knowing that even his detours are part of his design.
Steps.
He directs our steps.
It means of your movement, what is the smallest increment of your movements each day?
steps
we take steps
this means that the smallest movements of our life
are directed by the Lord
our choices
our meetings the moments of our life
even our detours
our detours
or choreographed by the Lord
it's a
it's a
it's grace
guiding obedient feet
all right
we're way over
gotta wrap it up
all right
I've got some big plans I got to work on doc
right now
yeah that's right
and let the Lord order the steps of them
so yes
hey just want to remind
everybody we appreciate all the response that we received on rick's book megafire but if you
haven't gotten it yet i want to encourage you to get a copy uh go to megafire dot world uh megafire all one
word on the website megafire no dashes or spaces or anything megafire dot world w or ld megafire
dot world get uh order your copy of rick's new book you can uh get the paperback edition or you can get a
assigned edition of this as well. And all the instructions are on the website on how to do that.
So if you haven't gotten your copy yet, do that. And so Rick's been sending out some
newsletters this week. And I hope you've been receiving them and have been reviewing them.
Some valuable information. He'll be sending out another one today. If you're having any kind
of issues with receiving Rick's newsletter, you've signed up in the past and aren't receiving
let us know.
You can direct message me here on faith and values, or you can send us an email and just
let us know if you're having any kind of issues, but we do want to get that newsletter in your
hands.
Rick always has some valuable information that he picks up, and the theme this week has been
on what's been happening with gold and silver, and I saw a new story today, Rick, that
China is going to start storing gold for Cambodia.
And so now China is getting into the gold storage business for other countries.
Yes, they're building.
China's building a vault in Saudi Arabia.
So that's in the news today, folks.
So some of you were asking about matters concerning gold.
If you want that information, I would encourage it.
Get Rick's newsletter.
He goes into some detail and has some links to some podcast and to
other material that will give you some insight as well so i encourage you in that all right rick any
uh any other uh words or any other announcements that we need yeah two things i i've got some
quotes from the commentators on this last verse uh charles bridges said we are free to plan
bound to submit safe to trust well i like that god's providence is the compass of the believers course
Albert Barnes said the contrast between man's planning and God's directing is not contradiction, but cooperation.
Providence completing what wisdom begins.
Charles Sumian, our plans are the scaffolding.
His purpose is the building.
Let him pull down or raise up as he wills.
Alexander McLaren
Man draws the map
But God holds the compass
The truest wisdom is to walk
As if every step
Were guided by unseen hands
Charles Spurgeon
The Lord not only knows our way
But makes it
It is a blessed thing
When our way is his way
And his way
Our walk
one more thing so kind of goes with what we're talking about here today
we are working on some very big plans for 2026 and I'm reading Leslie I'll keep
smiling Leslie all right he's working on it folks
okay so i'd rather be on radio okay in on radio you don't know if i'm smiling or not so
we're working on some very big plans and we believe it's the lord's plans and they're
stretching our human abilities at where we're at right now in terms of staff and funding and
time. And we need to have these things ready by late December. And the Lord is doing some other
things that are just in the works that are just amazing. I've already told you about Morning
Manah will be going on satellites in three continents. North America, Africa, and Europe.
yes starting in early February we have so much to do and in the natural the calendar is
we're dwindling in days and so anyhow Doc and I will we have to travel next week
for the entire week we have a we have a meeting we have to attend it's very important
that we attend the meeting and we have to travel a distance to get there
my plan was to pre-record five morning manna lessons but the lord directed my steps the
my unexpected sickness knocked out several days and i i didn't have the energy to prepare an extra
five lessons because it would mean that this week uh i
I'd have to have 10 lessons, the five that we're doing Monday through Friday this week,
and then I'd have to have five more for next week.
I'd have to have 10 lessons together.
I just didn't have the physical energy to do it.
And so what I've decided to do, and I'm asking you to give me grace on this,
I'm sure you will, is that Jody told me that the number.
The number one request that we get from people is for us to talk about the parables.
We haven't talked about the parables for, I guess, over a year.
Yes.
So what we're going to do is there are not going to be new lessons.
We're going to go back and we're going to get five lessons from last year about the parables.
And so next Monday, what's it?
I was going to say specifically about the parables.
about the parable of the sword, the basic, the basic parable, the parable that unlocks all the
other parables. Yes, and we did, we did five lessons on one parable, right? Yes. Okay, so
that's what will be our lesson next week. Now, there's a, there's a chance. Doc and I will pop in
online
from our location
and just say hello
in the class
just to be there, okay?
Yes,
the TV will be 30 minutes.
Our lessons are going to continue
to be an hour, and so the way it's going to
be is that a
one hour lesson
will be divided into two parts.
What they're going to see on TV is
I mean, we almost
us did tree lessons today right okay so that that's the way we'll produce the TV program
and but anyhow this is an extremely important trip and I almost how how do I say
this okay yesterday afternoon late yesterday afternoon i uh i went alone here in the office and i was praying
about the blessing that's coming there's a blessing there's a blessing coming okay um and i told you i
believe that the lord is going to do i believe that there are believers who are going to be blessed
in November and December
and I believe the Lord had already
he's already chosen who's going to be blessed
okay
and I was praying about
the blessing that I
know that the Lord is bringing to us
and
I was listening to a podcast
well
I had been
and I bumped my I bumped my cell phone
and a podcast that I wasn't listening to
started playing
and it was a minister who's passed away
but had a huge church
and the message was
when the blessing comes
don't tell anybody
right
I'm not kidding you that sounds counterintuitive doesn't it
and the message was sometimes the blessing is so sacred to God
he doesn't desire the unsaved to know about it okay we give our offerings to
God as their sacred gifts right
we present our offerings to God they're sacred these are sacred offerings it never occurred to me doc
that his gifts to us are sacred dog it never occurred to me that his gifts to us are sacred and he's like
hey you know this is between you and me my nature oh I see I'm just going to tell you this whole year
God has just been doing a work inside of me the whole year showing me things about myself
that he's saying these these are the things you need to change okay doc I was brought up in a church
culture that said when God blesses you you got to shout it from the rooftops to praise him
right okay to praise and to glorify him giving glory for the blessing all right that's what
you know show your thanksgiving tell everybody the goodness of God okay that's the way I was
brought up testify just stand up and testify okay but what the Lord showed me yesterday was
not a son
the motive behind that
doctrine doc
is pride
that's what he
showed me yesterday
the motive behind that old
Pentecostal
doctrine is pride
you know what you're saying
when you stand up
I want you to know how God bless me
today
what are you saying
look at how
look what god did for me but not for you
yes yes
and i really
he showed that to me yesterday and i said
lord i was taught that i was obligated to tell people
to show you that how appreciative i am
he's like no
it's between me and you
you show me by your worship
you show me by your thanksgiving it's between me and you okay is this is this speaking to anybody
today okay so um nobody's business you got it bob okay the other thing is the the world is changing
is not going to be good
wisdom says
don't
don't be a prosperity
flasher
okay
use wisdom
as God provides
for you
in a time of famine
don't use
wisdom
don't be announcing to everybody how God is blessing you okay I know what the Lord is doing
for us right now for me this ministry he's showing me I've made provision to carry
this ministry through a drought just leave it at that okay
God is going to get you through what's coming.
This is why I was telling you earlier today at the beginning of this of this lesson.
Do not fear and do not panic when you hear rumbling in the stock market,
in the precious metals market, in commodities.
Crypto.
Crypto is, oh, it's, well.
Yeah, Bitcoin is.
a hundred thousand today so it's cratering it's cratering okay paul you were given the same word
that's interesting yes okay george you got pray to your father in secret and he will reward you
openly if the blessing is indeed from the father it will be seen without us talking about yes
that's what he's saying let the people
People who are watching you notice there's something different.
There's something different about him.
There's something different about her.
Something's changed.
And yet they've not told me what it is.
Let the blessing of the Lord speak for itself.
You got it.
George,
let the blessing of the Lord speak for itself.
itself you don't have to you don't have to be a prosperity flasher because that's all it is doc
see that's a that was an old pentecostal dog here in my brain it started out as something
good yes and yet yesterday the lord said
That's a fur ball.
Get it out of you.
You know?
Hack it up.
All right.
Well, that was the post-time show, okay?
Praise the Lord.
All right.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, we appreciate you being here with us today, no matter where you are in the world.
And some of you now are tuning in very late in the evening.
When you're with us live, we have friends in Australia where it's pushing 11, 12 o'clock,
depending on what part of Australia that you're in.
And so we really appreciate you tuning in live no matter where you are in the world.
And thank you so much.
It means a lot to us that you would take time out of your schedule to be with us live every day.
But whether you can join us live or not, these episodes are available every day for you to go back and watch and listen to
we're on a variety of different platforms, YouTube, Rumble, Facebook, TikTok.
We put some shorts on there to try to reach a whole new audience and everything.
And so we just encourage you to continue to share these lessons with others.
And keep praying for us because we're planning on doing a lot more with Morning Manna here as the new year evolves.
And so there's a lot of exciting things happening.
the Lord's opening some amazing doors and providing divine provision for everything that we need.
And so we appreciate you so very, very much. Stick with us, folks. A rising tide lifts all ships.
And so I encourage you, as the Lord blesses this ministry, he's going to bless you too.
And so we appreciate your partnership there.
Yes. Be expecting, be observant, God's faith.
favor coming upon you in the coming weeks.
Just watch for it, okay?
But you don't have to advertise it.
Just praise them.
Look, the main thing is how we walk in life.
Let that be our testimony.
Not about what God gives us.
Let our testimony be how we walk in life.
amen okay and the it's between you and the lord about your thanksgiving and praise for what he
gives you okay but i'm telling you folks i i'm a strong believer in that that whatever the
pastors are going through the the biblical teachers somehow it carries over into the congregation
and we god works in a lot of hearts at the same times okay just be expecting favor and blessing to come
to you in the coming weeks okay and receive it with thanksgiving and joy and then just be
quiet about it okay thank the lord but be quiet about it amen okay all right got to go see you
God bless you.
We'll see you on the Thursday edition of Morning Manna.
God bless you.
Love you.
