Good morning, everybody. Welcome to Morning Manna. It's Thursday, and we are studying the book of Proverbs. We just began a day or two ago in the 12th chapter of Proverbs. And today we're going to start at verse 5. And I think we're going to go to verse 9, Doc, 5 to 9.
So let's pray. Let's pray and invite the Holy Spirit.
we will begin our study.
Almighty God, Father in heaven,
Father, we thank you for this wonderful, beautiful day.
Father, we invite the Holy Spirit into this Bible lesson.
I ask for your anointing upon Doc and me to teach your word,
and I ask for your blessing upon all the people in this class to receive your word,
that they would be strengthened and build up and edified.
and made stronger, and that your kingdom would be enlarged and strengthened.
All for the glory of our king, Jesus. Amen. Amen. Welcome morning, man, everybody. We're so glad to
have you here, no matter where you are in the world, from Russia to Japan, to Australia, to Brazil, to
Singapore, Philippines, and across the U.S. and Canada. Welcome today. We're so glad to have you.
We are continuing our study now in Proverbs chapter 12, and we're going to pick back up today,
at verse 5 of chapter 12 that's proverb chapter 12 verse 5 so if you have your bibles and you should
have your bibles a bible a notepad and a pencil and an attentive mind today as we dive into the
word of God and seek his wisdom for our lives today verse 5 is where we begin reading through
verse 9 this morning the thoughts of the righteous are right but the counsels of the wicked are
deceit. The words of the wicked are to lie and wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright shall
deliver them. The wicked are overthrown and are not, but the house of the righteous shall stand.
A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, but he that is of a perverse heart shall be
despised. And then verse nine, he that is despised and hath a servant is better than he that is
honoreth himself and lacketh bread now that's an interesting verse there i can't wait for us to get
into it yeah there's a lot of interesting verses in here um versus that normally i kind of just
in the past just i just read over and never gave a lot of thought to like verse nine so let's see
where this goes amen i'll start with verse five the thoughts of the righteous are right that the
Councils of the wicked are deceit.
Doc, referring to the righteous,
the emphasis is on the thoughts.
But regarding the wicked,
the emphasis is on their counsels, their advice.
So the thinking of the righteous is right.
But the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
Yes.
The Aramaic the Shita translation,
the purposes of the righteous are justice,
and the way of life of the evil is deceit.
The Septuagin translation,
the thoughts of the righteous are true judgments,
but ungodly men devise deceits.
it's good to look at various translations yeah to try to get the full picture of what these verses are about
the thoughts of the righteous are right the thoughts the inner plans the meditations the motives
the purposes the designs of the heart it's just not what you're thinking about something i am thinking
about the baseball guy no no it's your inner plans the things that you meditate on your motives of your
heart your purposes in life the designs of your heart what are you seeking to build to do
that's all wrapped up in this word the thoughts of the righteous so those things in the eyes of the
lord are right why because the righteous are guided by god's
word and the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it's just natural that they think on what is true and
just. So the thoughts of the righteous are in alignment with God's ways. Right. And that word thoughts,
it's all over the Old Testament, that particular word there. A lot of times it's used in a negative
sense when it talks about deceitful people, things like that. But most of the time when it's used,
it's used in a way that expresses a design or a plan, if you will.
For instance, God gave the ability to those that were building the tabernacle.
He gave some the ability to devise, and this is Exodus 314, to devise cunning works,
and that's the word thoughts there, to work in gold and in silver and in brass.
and a couple of other places, you know, where it talks about the building of the
tabernacle, it says that God gave that ability to devise cunning works.
I always like the word cunning works.
And so the way I take this verse here, verse five, is that those thoughts that we have,
they're really from God.
They're God's plans.
The righteous rely on the plans and thoughts of God to guide them.
Doc, I think often we, as sons and daughters of the Lord, we are expecting, anticipating.
We're going to hear God say, this is what I desire you to do today.
Turn right, do this, all right.
We're waiting for those definitive instructions.
Right.
But most of the time,
the Holy Spirit is speaking softly
and so softly
that we have to stop and say
is that my thought or did that come from the Lord?
That's the way he's guiding us.
And it's a good thing
because it means your thinking
is in harmony with the Lord's thinking.
Right.
and so he's guiding us with his thoughts his thoughts become our thoughts right now thoughts
precede actions thinking before deeds so out of holy thoughts come holy actions
the difference between one one difference between the righteous and the wicket and many
differences. The one thing is the righteous consider not only what is profitable, but what is
right. There are things that are profitable, but they're not right. I told Doc, just several
days ago, I told Doc about a decision I had to make. On the surface, hey.
It would benefit this ministry greatly if I had agreed to it, but it wasn't right.
The way it was being presented.
It's like, no, no, that's not right.
It wasn't what I was being asked to do was wrong.
It was what I was being asked to do the way somebody wanted me to do something I felt was wrong.
And I said, no.
okay
it was profitable
but it wasn't right
okay
was it sinful
no
it wasn't right
and another organization
could do it
and there would be no
and never blink an eye
okay
just do it and go on
and I just
it gave me
I just my conscience
I couldn't do that
okay
so
it may be profitable
but we don't feel right about it.
And so our minds are governed by the fear of the Lord.
Again, not this fear that I'm crouching down,
he's going to hit me, he's going to beat me.
No, it's the reverence of the Lord.
The fear is the reverence, the respect for the Lord.
And that shapes our judgments and our decisions.
And when we think that way,
it brings stability to our life and it blesses others so this word right says that
the thoughts of the righteous are right it it implies fair they don't wrong others so
the inward righteousness of the saints
is evidence
of God's grace because they have
new desires, they have new priorities, they have new
meditations, and that's evidence of the grace of God
working in your life.
But what about the counsels of the wicked?
The thoughts of the righteous, now the counsels,
of the wicked.
It's not the thoughts of the of the wicked.
So the
counsel means advice.
The advice, the counseling,
the plans, the strategies
of the wicked.
It says they are deceit.
Why? Because they spring forth from
a corrupted heart.
Right.
now this is uh it was paradoxical because again it's counsels meaning the advice
so their advice may on the surface appear to be wise
but below the surface in god's eyes they're deceitful right that's why you have to weigh
when somebody's giving you advice you have to you have to prayerfully seek the Holy Spirit
is this advice from the Lord right because people can give you advice at
at first glance on the surface level oh that's good advice right and this word that's
used here takbuloth in the Hebrew is used five other times in the book of
Bruce, always in a positive sense, always in a positive sense, except for here.
Here is connected with a negative influence.
And so that's why the discernment is important, because the counsels of the wicked can appear
to be godly counsel sometimes.
Okay, so doc, let's put into play things that we learned earlier in Proverbs.
How do the wicked?
how do they deceive the righteous flattering words cunning schemes
so the wicket give advice that sounds good
but they're using flattering words
and inwardly they've got a cunning scheme
the reason for the advice is not for your good but for their good
amen that's right not necessarily
it's not necessarily they intend to do you harm but they definitely intend to do themselves good yes
yes they definitely intend to do themselves good and if you get harmed well that's business
that's business that's the way it is there are people who watch out for themselves period
they will they would push an old lady they'd tip a wheelchair if they had to if
That's what they had to do for their own self-interest.
So they can be giving good advice,
I mean, what sounds like good advice.
And it may not necessarily hurt you,
but it will definitely benefit them.
That's what they're after, self-interest.
So the counsels of the wicket usually entrap you
seek to gain advantage over you by deceit and you know deceit is not always outright lying
sometimes it's just not telling the truth in other words withholding information
they didn't lie technically they'll say i didn't lie
but you didn't disclose this well that's true you didn't ask about it have you ever had somebody
do that to you why didn't you tell me this well you didn't ask oh so you withheld the information
see that's deceitful right they know that you would make a different decision if you had that
information so deceit is their weapon and it's the foundation of the way they do business
in business and in relationships when i say business is where they're there and everything that
they do deceit is their main foundation and here's why you there's another reason that we have to
discern the counsel of the wicket again it's many times on the surface it's like this is good
advice this is why you need the holy spirit because you need discernment here's why
their advice is leaven their their advice is leaven and it gets inside and it spreads yes
And when it gets inside an organization, it spreads through the community, through the layers of organization and employees and customers and vendors and everything.
If it gets into a family, that leaven spreads into various relationships.
It's the wicked counsel.
So the righteous have thoughts that blessed.
but the wicked have counsel that ultimately hurts and harms and destroys others so with flattering words they they conceal they disguise their intentions but their designs are uncovered by god so as disciples we have to be aware of listening to or walking in the council of the
ungodly that takes us to psalm one verse one walketh not in the council of the ungodly
matthew henry that old presbyterian born in 1662 he said the righteous have honest intentions and
aims in all they do but the wicked are full of deceitius
and their counsels are fraudulent,
meaning to cheat and ruin others.
John Gill,
I think he was a Baptist 1697.
The designs of the righteous are guided by the Word of God and the Spirit
and therefore right,
but the counsels of the wicked being corrupt
are deceitful, tending to ensnare.
Baptist Alexander McLaren,
as is the found.
mountain so is the stream yes right thoughts produce right acts deceitful counsel comes from hearts
estranged from god robert horton righteousness begins in thought wickedness matures in
counsel but one builds the other betrays
Also, Horton said that deceit is the foundation of the wicked.
I like that.
Deceit is the foundation of the wicked.
They only live to deceive.
They're just like their father, the liar.
So Horton was a leader in the congregational churches of England,
back in the mid to late 1800s.
He died in 1934.
Modern evangelical Christians, they don't even get thought to the congregationalists.
Yeah.
What do the congregationalists know about the Holy Bible?
He knew a lot.
Robert Horton knew a lot.
What did the Free Church of Scotland know about the Bible?
William R. not knew a lot.
I'd rather read their comments than these people that we have leading church.
is today.
Verse six, the words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood, but the mouth of the upright
shall deliver them.
World English Bible, the words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood, but the
speech of the upright rescues them.
The Aramaic Peshita, the words.
the words of the evil lie in ambush for blood
and the mouth of the upright delivers them
let's start with the words of the wicked
are to lie in wait for blood
so words here
doesn't not referring to idle talk to chatter
but deliberate speech
words spoken deliberately as a weapon
of deceit
to bring about destruction.
I was thinking this early this morning, Doc.
Only one letter separates words and swords.
A sword is word with an S.
So wicked words carry malice.
slander lies for the purpose of damaging, ruining, destroying the reputations of other people.
Right.
They lie in wait for blood.
This does not necessarily mean physical blood.
but like a slasher
like a mugger
hides behind a bush
hides behind a building
laying there waiting
there's a victim coming
and they leap out with their dagger
and they slash
that's how certain people
are with the words of their mouth
they wait they are hiding they're waiting on their victim to walk by the trap they set the traps they set the ambushes
and getting back to covert passive aggressive narcissists this is the way they operate
hey there's nobody looking
there's nobody here but my victim
I'm going to jump
I'm going to jump out could be in the home
could be in the home could be in the workplace
could be a church it could be
any place where people gather
but it's two people
the victim
and the victimizer
the slasher and the slashed and they lie in wait so there's no witnesses to their dastrily deeds
that's right i'm going to get you i'm going to stab you with my words i'm going to inflict pain on you
yes i'm going to make you bleed with emotional blood i'm going to hurt you and
then I'm going to walk away and act like nothing happened
and just leave you there.
When you try to tell people what I did to you,
nobody will believe you.
I'm curious with our class right now,
how many of you have somebody like that in your life right now
or have had such a person in the past?
I'm curious to know how many people have had to deal with this?
Yeah, look at this, Doc.
Yes.
Look at all the people.
You're dealing with it right now.
Wow.
Have you been wondering, have I imagining, am I imagining this?
or are they really doing this to me?
What the Holy Spirit is doing for you right now
is giving you a divine revelation.
Yes, they are deliberately attacking you this way.
They're lying in wait with their sword tongue.
When nobody's looking, when there are no witnesses,
they're going to jump out and stab you with their sword tongue.
their tongue. They're going to leave you there, wounded, bleeding, weak, hurting.
Walk away and pretend nothing happened. And when others are around, they're going to say,
I don't know what happened to him. I don't know what happened to her. And when you try to
tell people what they did, they're going to say, the victim I was going to say, that never happened.
I didn't do that. See, that's the gaslighting. That's the gaslighting. That's the gaslighting.
you're imagining that that didn't happen and other people are saying well that person it's a good person
i can't imagine that they would do something like that you dealing with it well the holy spirit's
giving you revelation right now yes here's why number one he's going to begin a process of emotional
healing in your life the lord himself is going to put salve and
bandages on your wounds okay he's going to put the salve and the and the bandages on your wounds
and began to heal you right now you couldn't get healed from this until you had a revelation
of what was being done to you number two the lord is showing you this so that you can put a stop to it
until you realize this attacker is doing this deliberately.
So the next time that person attacks, you don't receive the dagger.
You're putting up a holy hand.
Excuse me.
I won't let you do that to me.
I'm a child of God, a maiden, his likeness, an image, and the words that you're calling me, the names that you're calling me,
the accusations that you're making against me.
none of this is true i will not receive your dagger into my heart you will not slash me
okay and then he's working in you to forgive these people okay and now
things will change for that person because the lord will begin to deal with their sin right
and when you forgive doesn't mean you have to tolerate abuse
make that very clear okay you can forgive but you don't have to stand there and continue to be
abused either that's right you're under no obligation you're not chained up or anything like
that uh you you are under no obligation to tolerate their behavior continued abusive behavior
in your life and i'm not advocating divorce if it is a spouse
but I would advocate separation.
If somebody is physically or emotionally abusing you,
I believe you have the right to separate yourself from that person and say,
until you change,
I'm not living with you.
You can be very firm about it.
And God does not expect you to be somebody's pincushion.
Because they have inner turmoil,
inner pain.
they actually hate themselves, and so they slash at you to release their anger about themselves.
So I hope this helps some people today.
So wicked people use their words as daggers, and they strike without warning.
Again, it's not, it's seldom physical.
It's almost always verbal.
It's emotional abuse, spiritual abuse, social abuse.
And they're, again, they lie and wait for the right opportunity when there are no witnesses.
But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
If you're upright, God will deliver you from these abusers.
The upright used their words to preserve life, to protect life.
Their words are peaceable.
Upright men and women intercede for the innocent.
They defend them against slander.
When somebody is slandering somebody, you should say, excuse me, I don't want to hear that stuff.
I have no idea what you're saying if it's true or false.
I do not desire for it to come in my ears.
And I am going to go to that person and tell them what you're saying.
Oh, see, the people the slanders are the ones that hide behind the bushes.
What do you mean you're going to go tell them what I'm saying?
Yes, that's exactly what I'm going to do.
I'm going to go to the person that you just slandered and tell them what you're saying.
See, now they're being outed.
Oh, didn't expect that to happen.
What do they do?
What's the slandering about?
They're wounding you.
Right.
By remotely wounding you.
You're not aware that they're hurting you because you're not there to hear the slander.
but they're stabbing you remotely
by slandering you to somebody else
outside of your presence
but what happens is that over time
the person that receives the slander says
I don't I think I'm going to put some distance
between me and that person
see that was to isolate you
to cut off your friendships cut off your relationships
that's the purpose of the slander
to reduce
your effectiveness for God.
Amen.
So when somebody is slandering another person, gossiping, just say, excuse me, I don't want to be in this conversation,
but I am going to go to the person you're talking about and tell them what you said and ask them if it's true.
That person will never slander or gossip again in your presence.
You'll cut it off right there.
So upright men and women
Intercede for those who are being slandered
We have an obligation to intercede
Amen
So just as the words of the wicked can destroy
The words of the righteous can save
Matthew Henry
The words of the wicked are a bloody ambush
sure I had that same quote from Henry today did you well go ahead and read it a bloody ambush
a bloody tongue is a hellish weapon who went on to say
he said with which they hope to destroy the innocent but the words of the upright are a shield
of defense and a means of deliverance praise God Adam Clark
the wicked use their tongues as instruments of cruelty
their words are snares of death
but the righteous employs speech in defense of truth
and the preservation of life
and my favorite
Alexander McLaren
the tongue is a weapon
in the wicked it lies in ambush for blood
in the righteous it delivers from snares
life and death are in the power of the tongue
Amen
Verse 7
the wicked are over are overthrown
and are not
but the house of the righteous shall stand
the Aramaic
Pashita translation
the evil will be overthrown
and they will not be found
and the house of the righteous will be established.
The Septuagint, when the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away,
but the houses of the just remain.
So the wicked are overthrown and are not.
One day they're there, the next day they're not.
The word used for overthrown means to be
cast down suddenly, violently, unexpectedly.
Turned upside down.
Yeah.
Implosion.
Overthrown.
But it comes suddenly.
And it's violent.
It's extreme.
And their destruction is final.
Solomon said,
they are not.
They didn't have to say anything else.
They're not.
And they are not.
Meaning they're gone.
Completely gone.
They disappear.
Like chaff, blown away by the wind.
Just dust, blown away.
They cannot endure.
their lives contain the seeds of their own destruction and it will produce a crop
why because god's their prosperity is short-lived it's like a fading flower
which is what is in psalm 37
But God's providence brings swift reversal.
Those who seem secure and rich and prosperous and had everything going suddenly vanish in an instant.
Then we see this throughout history.
Wicked rulers, tyrants, corrupt business people.
They had a season in the sun and then the light went out.
The sun went dark in their life.
Are not.
It means no lasting inheritance.
And everything that they built is gone.
Where's Hitler?
Where's the Third Reich?
The Third Reich was the rule a thousand years.
Where is it?
Dust.
for a brief time for a couple decades he ruled and terrified the world and then he turned to dust
and the whole nazi regime disappeared from germany wicked people can escape human justice
but they cannot escape divine justice god will overthrow them
but the house of the righteous shall stand so here's the contrast this is the contrast
the righteous are preserved not only as individuals but their house this is not talking about
their physical house this is their the house represents their family
their lineage, their descendants.
And really, it implies the foreverness of the righteous, if you will.
In other words, God will remember you forever.
And, you know, if we look in Revelation, you see that picture, that contrast, that the wicked,
they're tossed into the lake of fire and forgotten, just forgotten.
their memory does not it doesn't even cross god's mind won't even cross any of our minds and yet
the righteous will forever dwell with god and be forever remembered and uh acknowledged by god
that's the big contrast there so like i i have children you do too i have grandchildren you do
two my children are saved most of my grandchildren are saved there's a couple of my children are saved
outliers there that
that need to be brought into the kingdom.
If the Lord allows me
to live long enough, I'll see
great-grandchildren who are saved.
I don't know if I'll see great-great-grandchildren.
I'd like to.
What I'd really like is
for the Lord to come back soon.
Yes. But the point
I'm making is
even if you live
a godly life and you have taught your children your grandchildren about the Lord and his ways
God will see to it that your house continues your house shall stand you know so many
wealthy people today billionaires and everything they're worried about legacy how they'll be
remembered after they're gone they'll have billions of dollars in life and so they set up foundations
and charities and things like that.
You know, I think of one example,
the Carnegie Mellon Foundation, right?
And how that was established by, you know,
Andrew Carnegie and John Mellon, you know, over a century ago.
Most people have forgotten Andrew Carnegie and John Mellon,
but the foundation continues.
But even that's going to go away in a vapor one day.
Even the memory of that.
So the attempts that at the wicked and the wealthy and the unrighteous to establish a legacy and a remembrance in eternity, it won't be remembered.
That's right.
Your house will be remembered.
Doc, as you were talking, I was thinking, you know, how many wealthy families, as you said, they are concerned about their legacy and they set up, they want to.
They desire to pass on their wealth to their children and grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
I mean, you have people in this country who are living on money that was earned over 100 years ago.
Yes.
But how many of these wealthy people say, I have to pass on righteousness to my descendants?
There's nothing wrong with passing on money.
and land and property and so forth
but
have you made a way
for your children and grandchildren
and great-grandchildren to be righteous
that's the house you need
to build and pass on
so the righteous
the house of the righteous
weathers storms
trials persecution adversities
it's unmoved
and and their stability
blesses
many generations
you know
I know that I'm enjoying
benefits in my life
because the Lord is blessing
my grandparents and great grandparents
and great grandparents
they're not here
they passed away a long time ago
right
but I'm enjoying the blessings because he's honoring them and he's he's he's fulfilling their prayers
see your prayers in your life now can be affecting your descendants 100 years from now long after you're gone
so the spiritual house built on Christ will never be shaken but the wicked it will not it will not endure
john gill said the wicked though in great power are soon overthrown and are no more but the family
and posterity of the righteous continue and flourish charles bridges born in 1794 the wicked rootless
and baseless fall to rise no more but the righteous planted in god stand as a house built upon a rock
and robert horton born in 1855 said the law of moral order is clear wickedness perishes
righteousness abides the house of the righteous is a symbol of permanence and human change
okay we get two more verses we can do it verse eight a man shall be commended according to his wisdom
but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised a world english bible a man shall be commended
according to his wisdom but he who has a warped mind shall be despised the aramaic pashita the children
of men praise the mouth of understanding
and he who lacks his reasoning will be despised.
Septuagint,
the mouth of an understanding man
is praised by a man,
but he that is dull of heart
is had in derision.
We're looking at the same thing from different angles.
Right.
that's the reason I read these various translations you're looking at the same thing but you're
standing in different positions north south east west crosswise upside above you know you're getting
but we're all looking at the same thing through these translations so man shall be commended
according to his wisdom so the wisdom here is not cleverness but the right
Righteousness guided by the fear of the Lord.
Wisdom is the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
This is what we're talking about.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
So it says, a man shall be commended, commend it according to his wisdom.
And that wisdom is displayed in his words, his decisions, his relationships, his integrity.
wise people attract admiration from people who do not even share that man or woman's faith
society in general will recognize a wise person although where we're getting where our society's
going today i don't know so sure about that doc is outright you're right outright host
hostility and hatred now okay by the way and i i don't say this gleefully i the lord brought this to my
intention this morning in prayer in in 2020 when i had covid and was hospitalized and i had tubes
coming in and out of me everywhere.
And my oxygen level was very low,
and it was extremely weak.
And I really was, had I not gone to the hospital that day,
I probably would have died that night.
It was that serious.
I had pneumonia and COVID.
I wasn't wheezing and gasping for breath,
As my breathing was becoming fainter and fainter and fainter, I was just kind of like, I'm just going to, you know, you just close your eyes and fade away.
That's where I was going.
Do you know what it's like to be in a hospital with tubes in your mouth and everywhere?
Wires hooked up to your heart and everything?
And to see online or in television that the host of a national television show the night before mocked you on live national television and people laughed that you were sick and in the hospital, that happened to me.
And guess what?
That guy got fired last night.
Jimmy Kimmel.
Okay.
I never had hard feelings towards him.
I was disappointed.
I didn't wish for this guy to die or anything.
But five years later, the Lord silenced his mouth
because NBC removed him from that job last night
because of something he said about Charlie Kirk's murder.
And so what I'm showing you here is you have to be patient, just wait.
Suddenly, Jimmy Campbell is no more.
No, he's still alive, obviously, but he's no more.
He's not on TV now.
He's not going to be using his mouth to slash Christians.
He's no more.
Why did the Lord wait for?
five years? I don't know. There's no five years in the Lord's mind because there's no years.
There's no time. Time is for us. But the Lord's silence Jimmy Kimmel. I'm just sharing that with you
because you need to be patient with the people who are doing you harm. Just be still. Just know
there's coming a day. They will be no more.
they will be no more they will be gone that's right and you don't have to do a thing
other than serve the lord and remain faithful yes and remain faithful
so a man shall be commended according to his own wisdom
but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised
perverse meaning crooked twisted
bent away from truth see this is what it is
it's crooked it's twisted it's bent away from truth
that's the point you've got to get with the word perverse
it is something that's it's out of shape it's bent
it's it's bent and twisted away from truth
it's not just something that's twisted and crooked
it's twisted and crooked and bent away from truth
that's a perverse heart
and that kind of perversity distorts judgment
it it poisons relationships
it corrupts actions
everywhere they go
they're spewing poisonous words
and it eventually becomes evident
because
that kind of person cannot hide it forever
they may get away with it for years even decades
and then all of a sudden there comes a time when God says
I'm going to reveal it
I'm going to reveal what's really in your heart
how twisted you are how perverted you are how and again the word perverse here means to be twisted away from truth
and the people who are twisted and bent away from truth are rebels what's really at the center of
their heart is rebellion they will not submit to christ they desire christ to them
boy wow who there was a chill in the air when you said that i'll believe in you jesus but you've got
to bend your knee and agree to the way i think he doesn't he doesn't bend his need to any
human but that's what they expect i'll go along with all this stuff you teach jesus except this
one thing.
I'm not
going to accept it.
See, they're twisted. They're been away from the truth.
Eventually, it will be no more.
The Lord will silence them.
You've done enough damage with your tongue.
Your tongue is now sealed. Your lips are sealed. You can't
speak anymore.
make sure your lips are being used for good
amen
Adam Clark a wise man is valued
in every age and nation
the perverse obstinate dishonest man
shall be despised and abhorred
Alexander McLaren
a life guided by wisdom wins honor
for men cannot help but see its worth
but though twisted heart
however it may mask itself
at last is unmasked and despised.
William or not wisdom builds a crown of honor.
Perversity pulls it down in shame.
Men flatter perversity.
Men may flatter perversity for gain,
but in their hearts they despise it.
All right, final verse.
Verse 9.
He that is despised and has,
a servant is better than he that honoreth himself and lacketh bread a world
English Bible better is he who is little known and has a servant than he who
honors himself and lacks bread the Aramaic Peshita better is a poor man who
waits on himself than
one who boasts and lacks bread.
Septuagint better is a man in dishonor serving himself
than one honoring himself in desiring bread.
So what is it really talking about here?
This is confusing verse.
What's your view?
What's your view on?
About the difference between humility and pride.
It's better to humble.
yourself than it is to raise yourself up. That's at the core of what Solomon's trying to get
across here. It's better to humble yourself, whatever it is in life, than it is to boast
and have true poverty. Yes. Yeah, this is a brain twister of a proverb. You have to think about
this one. So he that is despised. In this sense, the word despise means disregard it, held in
low esteem, insignificant. It doesn't mean hate it. All right. So the King James uses the word
despised. But the world, English Bible says, one who is
is little known.
A subterogen, a person who is in dishonor.
So it means a person who has little fame,
somebody who is not considered to be a significant person,
a nobody.
What is teaching here is that this,
it's better.
to be a nobody who eats bread,
serves himself,
bakes his own bread,
it's better to be
a humble,
unknown,
you know,
person who has
little recognition
and able to take care
of yourself
than to be
a person who
has broken.
bread or lax bread all right but you've got honor you've got pride but in your in your kitchen there's
no bread on the outside you've got honor but inside there's no bread but it's not really a true
it's not really a true honor is it it no go ahead doc because this one so it's a tough yeah it's that
boasting and you probably know people like this in your own life you know there are people who
they talk big they talk big about themselves or what they've done or everything like that but
really their their life is poverty and not necessarily in wealth but in character and
uh you know lack of relationships and things like that in their life it's better to be a humble
person that takes care of things that doesn't boast, it doesn't go out of their way to
toot their own horn and everything else like that, and to be a boaster and be truly poor.
In other words, they fake it till they make it.
Yeah.
And then after they make it, they're still faking it.
Yes.
Because that's the message of this proverb.
that they're
they're
what they
desire the world to see
on the outside
is a mirage
but the righteous
this is he that is
disregarded
held in low esteem
his condition is
stable because he has enough
to provide for his household
so what's the saying
is it is better to live
in humble
obscurity
emphasize humble
it doesn't say it's better
to live in obscurity it's better
to live in humble
obscurity than to wear
the mask of greatness
and have nothing behind it
it's just a mask
take the mask off
hey there's nobody there
there's nothing
behind the wall
So the humble person of low esteem, low recognition,
he can say, yeah, behind the wall, I've got bread.
But this other one, which is all show, pretense, behind the wall,
there's nothing there, it's empty.
So the humble person is saying, I'm content with God's provision,
even if other people never give me any,
Honor, recognition, so what?
There's my two words, so what.
They live in simplicity, but God is their God.
And their life is secure.
They're free from anxieties.
They're not putting on any shows, any pretenses.
They are what they are, and they're happy.
Right.
And, you know, in today's world of social media
and everything, you have to go out of your way
to put on a front or become a character
or whatever it is that's not truly you.
There are very few genuine people on social media,
very, very few.
And most of them have created a mirage
or a facade or a character that they're presenting out there.
And that includes people, you know,
not just entertainers, but also, I would
even go so far to say as in, you know, conservative influencers. There are people out there that
put on a mask, a character. But really, inside, they exist in poverty. They have no substance.
It's just a mask. That's all it is. It's a vapor. It's a mask. It's a passing thing.
Okay, so, Doc, I'm glad you brought up the social media influencers because that's a big deal today.
And a lot of, I see young people in their 20s,
they're asked what's going to be your career.
I'm going to be a social influencer.
Really?
That's a career?
Here's what this verse means.
No fame with bread is better than fame with bread,
or a fame with no bread.
No fame with no bread.
No fame with bread.
bread is better than fame with no bread.
That's the essence of this proverb.
So the person he is despised and have a servant
is better than he that honours himself and lacketh bread.
How is this person honored by himself?
There's self-promoting.
constantly
oh my
these people
you know we've encountered them
Rick here's what you're doing wrong
you are not using social media
to build yourself
a reputation of following
you're not doing it
you've got to be doing this this and this every day
and the pressure
and the pressure is there constantly
because you
you know you look at some of these influences out
there that have millions of followers and you ask yourself why is it that they have millions of followers
and they have and they exist on vapor and yet you know preachers of the gospel maybe have a few hundred
or three thousand followers on social media if that many and it can be frustrating at time because
in the natural you weigh yourself you measure yourself in the natural i say but in the spiritual
God, all God's asking of you is your faithfulness. If you have to compromise yourself to gain
followers, you're not preaching the gospel. That's right. Two or three years ago, somebody showed
me, I don't use TikTok, but somebody showed me extremely popular person on TikTok, and I don't
know the name, I have no idea. It was a young woman in her early, the mid-20s. And,
this was live it was live video she was live streaming and she was making strange noises and strange
bizarre facial expressions oh i remember that yes strange actions with her body and i go what is she doing
and this young man said that's her that's her that's her that's her internet stream
I go, what is she doing?
She's just doing things to get people to look at her.
And I said, she does this for hours every day.
Yes, for hours, every day.
Look at that.
And I remember saying, look at all the hits.
Look at how many people are online right now watching her.
Thousands.
Thousands were live.
It's like, that's what you do?
you act like an insane idiot just to get people to look at you
that's what this scripture is talking about
let's see what old Matthew Henry said
it is better to be of low condition and to have food convenient
than to make a fair show and want bread
man he's talking to the tick-dog generation isn't he yeah he does
Charles Bridges humility with competency is better than vain glory with want
let us then be content with God's provision and not seek to honor ourselves
we are not better have better to have little and be despised than to live in the pomp of
pretension and want bread substance outweighs shadow yeah substance outweighs shadow
and then horton robert horton the proverb declares the superiority of sufficiency
with obscurity over pretense with want honor without bread is dishonor in disguise
okay we're we're done for today all right well praise the lord you know uh if rick wanted a whole bunch
of followers a million followers and everything he could have written a book called how to get rich
and still go to heaven right but he didn't write that book and said he wrote this one
mega fire mega fire which is giving wisdom to you right now on things that are going to be happening
over the next five to ten years, according to cycles that have been in place since the beginning
of human history.
God himself established cycles in human history, and this book gives you some insight in some
of the various cycles that are coinciding over the next five to ten years.
And I want to encourage you get your copy of Megafire today by going to megafire.
That's Megafire, all one word, no dashed.
dashes or anything in it, megafire.world.
And get your copy of Rick's latest book, Megafire America's next fourth turning crisis.
We may not have millions of followers on it yet, but there are people that are loving this book,
and it'll really open up a lot of wisdom, knowledge for you.
And I hope more anything else will help you prepare for what's going to be happening in this
world over the next five or ten years.
So get your copy of Megafire.
today. Amen. And so we have been receiving numerous orders for the book. And usually people
are buying more than one copy, Rick. That's encouraging. The majority of orders are more than one
copy. Amen. So very honored by that. And give it to somebody in your family or a pastor or
somebody just give it to them and say, hey, you really got to pay attention what's in this book. So
Your prayers for the success of this book would be greatly appreciated.
We need millions of people to read this book.
Things are going to change in the coming months.
Doc, I watched a video last night of a financial advisor.
He was talking about the fourth turning.
And he was a guest on a podcast, and he was telling the audience,
You need to learn about the fourth turning.
If you're going to understand what's taking place,
you've got to understand the fourth turning.
So it's like the Lord is already priming people for this book.
That people are starting to think,
I've got to find out what is the fourth turning?
What is he talking about?
Right.
Because the subtitle of this book is America's next fourth turning crisis.
And for those of you who don't know what the fourth turning is, Rick explains it in great detail in the first couple chapters of this book.
This is, you know, the turnings are something that Rick has researched and studied for a couple decades now.
And what we're discovering is there's more and more people who were teaching on these kind of cycles in the same idea for a very, very long time.
and we're discovering new ones every day and learning more information and uh but give this book now
before it becomes obsolete obsolete in five years uh five years are going to be too late to read
this book you need to read it now uh to get ready for what's happening i'm using the stuff
i'm learning uh from these principles to make changes in my own life and i encourage you to do that too
for the possibility of a million Chinese soldiers
on American soil.
Does I give you an idea of how serious this book is?
Look, what Mr. Trump is doing right now
with the Justice Department going after,
they officially classified Antifa as a terrorist organization.
Do you know what that means?
It means the law enforcement and the US military
are authorized to shoot and kill.
That's what they do to terrorists.
They don't put them on trial.
So there is an American billionaire who lives in China.
That they know he has been financing a lot of the
crazy stuff in America on the left.
Some of the stuff are, like, who's financing these things?
You know where these riots break out and it's like, who's doing this?
Who's organizing it?
Where they're tracing the money back to this American billionaire who lives in China.
Well, he's gone dark.
He's disappeared.
I believe the Trump administration is going to go after this guy.
I believe they're going to seize his wealth, wherever they can get their hands on it.
But I believe what we're going to see here in the coming year is the government is going to expose how extensive of a network is in this country of radical extreme communists who are working to weaken this country for to prepare it for the Chinese invasion that we're so weak and divided on the
inside we can't fight an invasion i'm encourage you to get the book okay yes get the book
