Do US state governors have emergency powers to suspend the Second Amendment? That’s our topic today. The Democrat governor of New Mexico believes she has the legal authority to suspend a constitutio...nal right. We’re going to look at her shocking press conference last Thursday, and talk with Mr. Anthony Segura, executive director of the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association. New Mexico’s Democrat Governor Gun Grabber Grisham arbitrarily decreed last Thursday that she has the legal power to suspend the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. Gov. Grisham justified her unconstitutional action by first declaring a public health emergency. No, there wasn’t another outbreak of the Fauci-Wuhan manmade biological warfare virus. And it wasn’t an outbreak of Hantavirus spread by New Mexico’s desert rodents. She declared a health emergency over gun shootings committed by criminals and illegal immigrants who are protected by radical leftists who control Gov. Grisham’s Democratic Party. Her solution to a crime problem is to disarm law-abiding citizens so that they are defenseless when in public places amongst the criminals who will still be armed. Gov. Grisham’s illegal and unconstitutional decree applies to the City of Albuquerque and surrounding Bernalillo County. It will be in effect for the next 30 days and can be extended. Starting point is 00:00:00 this is true news the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help us god i'm rick God. I'm Rick Wiles. Today is Monday, September 11, 2023. Do U.S. state governors have emergency health powers to suspend the Second Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America? That's our topic today. The Democratic governor of New Mexico believes she has the legal authority to suspend a constitutional right. We're going to look at her shocking press conference last Thursday and talk with Mr. Anthony Serguera, the executive director of the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association. First, however, I sincerely welcome all the new viewers and listeners who are joining us today for the first time or perhaps reconnecting with us after a long absence. We are streaming live on truenews.com, faithinvalues.com, Rumble, Getter, and other platforms. We are also simultaneously broadcasting internationally on WWCR, Shortwave Radio, on frequencies 12, 160, and 4840. Now,
Starting point is 00:01:29 let's look at our top story. New Mexico's Democrat Governor Gun Grabber Grisham arbitrarily decreed last Thursday that she has the legal power to suspend the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. Governor Grisham justified her unconstitutional action by first declaring a public health emergency. No, there wasn't another outbreak of the Fauci-Wuhan man-made biological warfare virus. And it wasn't an outbreak of hantavirus spread by New Mexico's desert rodents. She declared a health emergency over gun shootings committed by criminals and
Starting point is 00:02:14 illegal immigrants who are protected by radical leftists who control Governor Grisham's Democratic Party. Her solution to a gun crime problem is to disarm law-abiding citizens so that they are defenseless when in public places among the criminals who will still be armed. Governor Grisham's illegal and unconstitutional decree applies to the city of Albuquerque and the surrounding Bernalito County. It will be in effect for the next 30 days and can be extended. It bans all citizens from carrying firearms in public, including citizens with concealed carry permits. Dr. Burkhart is here with me, and we are going to show you some of the highlights from Governor Grisham's news conference last week. lockdowns and mass mandates and vaccine mandates. We have a governor who has taken upon herself the legal authority to suspend part of the Constitution of the United States, not only the U.S. Constitution, but the New Mexico Constitution. Yes. And this is the most overt action we've seen by a governor of any state. I mean,
Starting point is 00:03:39 you would expect this maybe in California or New York or someplace like that, but this is New Mexico. No, we shouldn't expect it in California and New York. I agree. It's unconstitutional in all 50 states. Yes. None of them should be allowed to do this. But she has taken upon herself gambling that there will be very little opposition and that the Second Amendment supporters will basically lay down and roll over and let her get away with it, like she got away with the COVID lockdowns. We're going to show you some selected segments of her
Starting point is 00:04:14 press conference that was held last Thursday. These videos are compliments of TV station KOB TV in Albuquerque. The first one is gun grabber Grisham explaining her gun ban. Let's watch. So in this public health order, which is effective today, September 8th, which lasts 30 days, and then we'll, like all the other public health orders we will either amend or renew or adjust depending upon where we are so effective
Starting point is 00:04:55 immediately no person other than a law enforcement officer or licensed security officer shall possess a firearm either openly or concealed within cities or counties averaging 1,000 or more violent crimes per 100,000 and more than 90 firearm-related emergency department visits. So to put that in sort of a layman's terms for 30 days in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County, it's the only place that meets both those standards. Statewide order, but only one place meets both criteria. We have far too many ER gunshot visits and we have far too many crimes involving firearms. We are suspending open and concealed carry. The purpose is to try to create a cooling off period while we figure out how we can
Starting point is 00:06:08 better address public safety and gun violence. Now I am sure as I go through the rest of this, there will be a lot of questions about whether or not we think we have the legal rights to do that. I am sure that before you write this, there will be a legal challenge, and I can't tell you that we win it, given all of the different challenges to gun violence laws and restrictions on individual firearm access and control. I think it's time we have a really strong debate about all the other constitutional rights. No one right now in New Mexico, and particularly in Albuquerque, is safe in a movie theater, at a park, at a school, at a grocery store, at an isotopes game, at the university,
Starting point is 00:07:01 at the grocery store, I think I said, getting your prescriptions, at work. You just aren't safe, I can't guarantee it, and neither can the men and the women who put on a uniform every day. In that regard, I think it's time to talk about the absoluteness of the discussion on the current court actions that suggest that the Second Amendment is an absolute right and none of
Starting point is 00:07:25 the others are. And I'm sure you're going to ask me what I think my chances are. And again, if it opens up the door to the kinds of public safety that keep kids safe, I'm willing to take it on. Doc, violent crime is rampant in America because Democrats like gun grabber Grisham are pro-criminal, pro-illegal immigrants. Yes. They defend the criminals. They fight the law-abiding citizens. They do everything that they can to hinder law enforcement and to allow the criminals to roam freely. We're seeing now, you know, being released without bail.
Starting point is 00:08:11 We're seeing the decriminalization of many crimes, like in California. Yes. The Democrats are pro-crime. They're pro-criminal. Let's call it that, yes. They're pro-crime. They're pro-criminal. They're pro-illegal immigrants. And then she has the gall to sit there and talk about we're not safe anymore because of people like you, Governor Grisham. It's people like you and Gavin Newsom and all of these far left Democrats who are destroying the rule of law in this country. And their solution? Let's take away the guns from the law-abiding citizens.
Starting point is 00:08:50 And it won't stop there. She mentioned in that video segment there, Rick, that all constitutional rights are in play. All of them. Yes, absolutely. And there's a segment coming up here that's very shocking. In this next one. She explains that she's going to she is going to allow some exceptions.
Starting point is 00:09:11 Isn't that wonderful? It's so gracious of her. She's going to allow some apply to any private property. Responsible gun owners are certainly not our problem, have never been our problem, and I appreciate the impact that this has, but on private property this has no bearing. But you on the premises and it has no application on the premises of a licensed firearm dealer or gunsmith for the purposes of lawful transfer or repair of a firearm. While engaged in the legal use of a firearm at a properly licensed firing range or or sport shooting competition venue while you're traveling
Starting point is 00:10:12 to and from a location dealing with your firearms they have to be in a locked box where they have to have a trigger lock so that's how we support responsible firearm owners in their daily activities. And the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department will conduct monthly inspections of licensed firearm dealers in the state to ensure compliance with all sales and storage laws. We will also make available any of these storage and lock boxes or trigger locks at no charge to individuals who ask us for access to such devices. So, Dr. Gun Grabber Grisham says, I'm not going to affect, this is not going to impact
Starting point is 00:11:01 private property. If you want to have a gun at your home, your farm, your ranch, that's okay. You just can't leave your property with it. Right. As of right now. As of this stage. We don't know where she's going a year from now. But, Doc, as a citizen, the reason I carry a firearm on me is because I am at my greatest risk when I leave my property. That's correct. And have to mingle around criminals who may want to rob me, steal my car.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Then I have to be able to defend myself. And you're not going to have time to get it out of a lock box in order to defend. And a trigger lock also. Right. But you're not even allowed to use it. If you did, under her ruling, her decree, Doc, even if you were robbed on the street and you were traveling from your home to a gun store or a shooting range, and you followed her decree and you had your gun in a locked box and
Starting point is 00:12:06 a trigger lock and a a robber showed up who had a gun who had a gun even if you got your gun out and managed to unlock the box and get the trigger and shoot the rock you would be the criminal because you violated her decree. Right. Isn't this topsy-turvy world, Rick? No, it's a communist world. The Democrats are the arm of Xi Jinping's China Communist Party. And they are implementing President Xi's agenda for America.
Starting point is 00:12:45 And they're doing it in incremental stages. And I'm going to talk more about this later in this first hour. The next segment of her press conference, gun grabber Grisham admits she expects legal challenges to her decree, but she's not worried about it. Here's what she had to say about it. I think we can leverage more productively across all these jurisdictions. And we have called on the U.S. Marshal's office to do more. They are doing a ton. We want more. And we're asking AFT, DEA, FBI to all do their part. And I have sent yet another communication to the federal government. And I had a call with the director of the U.S. Marshal Service today that they must create a continued presence in New Mexico, given our gun violence and violent crime situations statewide. OK, I was expecting that it was my fault. I was thinking we were going to the part where she talks about the challenges in this one.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Well, you just saw she said she's calling in federal resources. Right. She's put the call out to Washington. Bring federal agents to help me enforce my ban. Yes. You know why, Doc? Because New Mexico law enforcement officers aren't going to enforce her ban. Right. She needs the feds to come in. She needs FBI agents. She even says Secret Service agents. The U.S. Marshals.
Starting point is 00:14:14 U.S. Marshals. ATF. She wants the feds to come to New Mexico to enforce her unconstitutional gun ban. So the feds are going to come in and overrule the constitutionally elected sheriff of the county who has gone on record saying he's not going to enforce it. But her attitude is, who needs you? I'm going to bring the feds in. Right. We'll shut you down. In her mind, she's thinking,
Starting point is 00:14:46 we'll shut you down. The Democratic feds. Yes. They're weaponizing law enforcement. They're weaponizing every arm of the government against the people and weaponizing the government on behalf of
Starting point is 00:15:02 criminals. The criminals are the protected class under the Democrats. You're right. Because many of the Democratic leaders themselves are criminals, like Biden's, the Biden crime family. We have a crime syndicate that has taken over the United States of America. This next segment is the one I was preparing you for, where she said she's expecting legal challenges,
Starting point is 00:15:27 but she's not worried. She is confident her decree is going to withstand any examination by a court. How will this gun ban and how will it be enforced, and what will be the penalties? So those are very complicated questions. And we are working with our Department of Public Safety and our own attorneys and the DAs. In this context, I've directed a civil order. So I basically suspended your ability to do that. In this context, we're likely dealing with misdemeanors. And so for misdemeanors, if you did it four times as a felony, they're hard to enforce. What I would like to be able to say to the general public, that it's easy to enforce,
Starting point is 00:16:18 they're all an automatic felony that go with automatic jail time. That would take a very specific change in the law that doesn't exist but if she could she would that's for sure but when you're a tyrant you just suspend the law right essentially that's what they're doing now that's where she's going like barack obama would just issue executive decrees, executive orders that rewrote Obamacare because he didn't send it back to the U.S. Congress to amend it. He just said, I'll amend it myself. That's the mentality she has.
Starting point is 00:16:59 So, Doc, don't be surprised a month or two from now, she will issue a decree suspending the laws of the state of New Mexico. She'll just say from now on, here are the penalties for violating my decrees. Right. I mean, it sounds. It sounds far fetched now. But last week, this sounded far fetched. Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:19 If last Wednesday, I would have told you, Doc, tomorrow, the governor of New Mexico is going to suspend the Second Amendment. You would have said, Rick. Oh, come on. She can't do that. She just did it. This next one. This is this is the shocking statement. She just comes right out and says, you have no guaranteed rights.
Starting point is 00:17:47 No rights are guaranteed. Doc, if they're not guaranteed, they're not absolute, they're not rights. Correct. They're privileges. Granted by the government. Yes. She said you have no rights that are absolute. Listen to what this tyrant said.
Starting point is 00:18:05 You took an oath to the Constitution. Isn't it unconstitutional to say you cannot exercise your carry license? With one exception, and that is if there's an emergency, and I've declared an emergency for a temporary amount of time, I can invoke additional powers. No constitutional right, in my view, including my oath, is intended to be absolute. There are restrictions on free speech. There are restrictions on my freedoms. In this emergency, this 11-year-old and all these parents who have lost all these children, they deserve my attention to have the debate
Starting point is 00:18:46 about whether or not in an emergency we can create a safer environment. Because what about their constitutional rights? I took an oath to uphold those too. And if we ignore this growing problem without being bold, I've said to every other New Mexican, your rights are subrogated to theirs. And they are not, in my view. This woman is a tyrant. She's a four-foot-eight tyrant. Another little, a female Napoleon. She is a tyrant.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And I believe somebody is advising her. I believe she's getting advice from Washington. There are people who are managing this orchestrated takedown of the United States of America. She's implementing the instructions she was given. And she said that no right is absolute. And then she said that her oath is not absolute. Doc, if you swear an oath and it's not absolute. It's worthless. It's worthless.
Starting point is 00:19:55 What oath did she take? And to who? She swore an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and the Constitution of the state of New Mexico. And she said, my oath is not absolute. Therefore, in her mind, she is not obligated to fulfill her oath. She's free to break her oath. That's a liar. That's right.
Starting point is 00:20:25 That means when she took the oath, she was thinking in my mind, if I want to violate this oath, I can. I have that option. I can violate the oath. That's the way this person thinks. We're going to take a break. And when we come back, the executive director of the NRA affiliate for the state of New Mexico, Mr. Anthony Sergara, is going to be here with us. Starting point is 00:21:56 Welcome back to True News. I'm Rick Wiles. Today's first hour of True News is partially funded by Genesis Gold. We are discussing today the outrageous, illegal, and unconstitutional decree by New Mexico Governor Grisham to temporarily suspend the Second Amendment in the city of Albuquerque and its surrounding county. How are New Mexico's Second Amendment rights defenders responding to her arbitrary decree? The New Mexico Shooting Sports Association is the official National Rifle Association affiliate in the state of New Mexico. The organization's website is nmssa.org.
Starting point is 00:22:50 The association's executive director is Mr. Anthony Segura, and he is with us today to tell us the mood of New Mexico's Second Amendment gun rights supporters. Mr. Segura, welcome to True News. Oh, thank you, Rick, for inviting us to be here. Anthony, we have shown on the program today key segments of the governor's press conference last week, and there are some very shocking, outrageous statements in that press conference, including her belief that she has the right to temporarily suspend constitutional rights. What is your reaction? What is the reaction of New Mexico's sportsmen and gun owners to the governor's decree? Well, like you said, it's outrageous. The people are angry.
Starting point is 00:23:49 We had a little rally yesterday in albuquerque and there's going to be another one tomorrow that's going to be down at civic plaza downtown near city hall but people are upset and it's not just the people on the right it's also some of the people on the left i mean everybody that i know whether you're a democrat or republican they're shooters they either go to the range to shoot just to enjoy it or they're hunters we have a large hunting population here from Rocky Mountain Sheep
Starting point is 00:24:14 to elk, deer you name it we have it here and those people see what the governor did as like you said it's unconstitutional and we've got a lot of people contacting us my phone didn't stop ringing all weekend um and then of course the emails and such and a lot of people from all over the country seeing this and saying you know if it can happen
Starting point is 00:24:38 in a little you know state like new mexico it could happen anywhere. So any of these blue states can do this. And this governor, this is not the first time she's tried to do this. During the pandemic, she, you know, she left all the big box stores open, you know, the Walmarts and Costco's and all, they were open. But the little guys she shut down and the other organizations she shut down her stores were the gun stores and gun ranges and people could not even buy a gun or ammunition whatever to defend themselves and she's doing that she has the thing that she wants to get rid of guns
Starting point is 00:25:17 period you know she i think her hero is gavin newson of California, but, you know, because she does a lot of things to mirror what he does. But we're hearing from people all over the country. They're saying, you know, what can we do to help? And the main thing is go to our website. You know, everybody says we need to sue her. Well, there is already four to five lawsuits already have been enacted against her because of what they're doing but these are people from out of state you know so we as the New Mexico Shooting Sports Association we're getting ready to file our own lawsuit it's being drafted right now and it should be
Starting point is 00:26:01 out in the next day or two because we're not going to take it uh you know sitting down because when she filed something similar during the pandemic we actually filed a lawsuit against her she opened up the gun stores the gun ranges of course she states that it had nothing to do with our lawsuit regardless whatever she says she says, she did open them back up. So we're going to have to do the same thing to her, unfortunately. Anthony, does New Mexico have a concealed carry permit law? Yes, we do. Our concealed carry law was voted on and accepted in 2003.
Starting point is 00:26:40 I happen to be a concealed carry instructor, so I know the law pretty well. But let me read you the New Mexico Constitution. I'm going to read it so I don't make a mistake, but Article 2, Section 6 of the Constitution of New Mexico provides, no law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use, and for other lawful purposes. But nothing hereon shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. That goes to your question.
Starting point is 00:27:16 No municipality or county shall regulate in any way an incident of the right to keep and bear arms. And that's kind of twofold because our mayor is doing a lot of the same things as the governor. So of course he supports a lot of these things. One of the things that the governor did last year is we've had gun shows at the New Mexico State Fairgrounds, which is located here in Albuquerque, for years, as long as I can remember.
Starting point is 00:27:49 And she shut that down. We're not allowed to use a state facility, a public state facility, to have a gun show. So we thought we'd go ahead and move it to the New Mexico or the Albuquerque Convention Center. Well, our mayor came out and said, you cannot use the convention center for gun shows. I can't fathom what these people think that they have the right to block a public facility to be used by the public. It's ridiculous. A lot of things are ridiculous. Did they get away with it? They have so far. Yeah, they have.
Starting point is 00:28:29 And how long has that ban been in effect? It's been a little over a year. Let's take the governor's press conference. Let's break it up into a couple parts. We've looked at the key segments of the video. She said, first of all, she issued a public health emergency decree. And, you know, in my thinking, a public health emergency is an outbreak of a disease, a contagious disease. Exactly. So she's using a state law that was passed for the purpose of protecting the health of the public during a pandemic.
Starting point is 00:29:17 And she's using that as an attack on the Second Amendment rights of citizens. So let's just take the issue of crime. Crimes are committed by criminals. That's not a very deep statement. Criminals are people who don't obey the law. Law-abiding people are people who obey the law and don't commit crimes. I mean, this is really elementary stuff.
Starting point is 00:29:47 So does the governor really believe that the criminals in Albuquerque and the surrounding county are going to obey her decree? Oh, no. No, she knows that. She knows that. Her goal is to get rid of guns period regardless of who has them she feels that um if there are no guns then everything will be fine but she doesn't live in the real world you know i've known this governor for many years she was my county commissioner here and i've known her you know for quite a few years but she's always had this thing you know she's she's about four foot eight and she's got this complex you know and i'm not saying to put it put her down on it but she i don't know if she has to compensate for something or what it is but you know she doesn't know how to lead as a governor you know i i was in the military i did 20 years six months in the military. I did 20 years, six months in the military. And the military changed over the years. When I first came in, everything was by an order and you had to do what you had to do. However, things still changed and people discussed why things were done prior to doing what they what was done anyway um she doesn't understand how to lead and that's i think
Starting point is 00:31:06 that's one of the main reasons that we have such a failure in the criminal system here because you know our our da who's now our attorney general was a soros backed da okay he ran for uh attorney general and he actually won so So now he's up in Santa Fe. So there's no top law enforcement person for us to talk to because he's, you know, he's hand in hand with the governor up there in Santa Fe. The New Mexico attorney general is a Soros funded man. Yes. Yeah. He was the district attorney in Albuquerque, funded by Soros. And of course,
Starting point is 00:31:46 you know, you've seen those all over the country. We happen to have one here. Now he's our attorney general. So if we go back to this warped reasoning of the governor, which and I don't believe she believes any of this stuff. She has an agenda. But she's saying, I'm doing this to reduce gun violence. But we all know that the criminals are going to continue to carry the guns. The people who are not going to carry their guns, by and large, are the law-abiding people who had concealed carry permits because they're afraid of the criminals in the public. So what she's doing right now, she is disarming the law-abiding citizens to make them the targets of the criminals. The criminals now, the criminals in Albuquerque and your surrounding county, they now know that most of the citizens on the street are unarmed. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:32:53 Let me give you a little analogy, a little reality that I see here in Albuquerque. One of my banks, I don't know if it's right to name the bank or not, but it's the Bank of Albuquerque, and I've dealt with them for years, and they're a great bank. However, last year they put a sign on the door that says that conciliatory weapons are not allowed on the premises. And I go into my branch bank two weeks ago to get some money, and there was a security guard at the door, and he stopped me from going in, and I said, well, I want to go in. I need to withdraw some money, and he said, well, you can't go in. You have to make an appointment.
Starting point is 00:33:36 I said, I have to make an appointment to come into my branch? I've been here for years, and he says, well, the branch got robbed last week. And so now they're changing it. So you have to have an appointment. And I tell him, what do you expect? When you have a sign on the door, you let the criminals know that nobody can carry a gun. I said, I can't get cash. And I'm afraid walking out the door because crime is everywhere in Albuquerque. And I'm afraid to walk out the door because crime is everywhere in albuquerque and i'm afraid to walk out my door carrying cash in my pocket because i can't have my gun and i've told the people with the bank do you know you that you're advertising to the criminal that no one has a gun in there well
Starting point is 00:34:18 here they get robbed now they're gonna you know what they're gonna do they're gonna shut down the branch bank that keeps getting robbed. It's like, take off the signs, people. And so the lady, the branch manager called me and says, well, we have to inform you that we're closing the branch bank. And I told her, of course. I mean, that's your idea of shutting down the branch bank because you have a sign on the door that says people can't carry a gun to to protect themselves and she didn't want to hear it yeah and our governor is the same way anthony let's let's talk about i've got about six minutes remaining let's let's talk about the governor's flawed concept of constitutional rights she says no right is absolute if it's not absolute it's not a right
Starting point is 00:35:07 exactly and she says she has the power to suspend rights constitutional rights if governor grisham believes she has the right to suspend the second, she also believes she has the right to suspend the First Amendment. Exactly. So in her mind, and she probably did it during the COVID lockdowns, she has the right to shut down churches to prevent the freedom of worship. She has the right to cancel the right of free speech, the right of the press to report the news. She is claiming she has the right to suspend all constitutional rights. Therefore, we're in a post-constitutional right age.
Starting point is 00:35:57 And, you know, I see that all the way up to the top, to the president of the United States. And she's just following suit with what are a lot of things that he's doing um i i don't understand this governor we've tried to talk to her she's impossible to talk to um again we had we had a person you know we had elon musk come out on on x and say that this governor should be removed. I mean, when you get a person like that, I mean, how can anybody, you know, suspend the Constitution? Not only the Constitution for the United States, but the Constitution in New Mexico. When you raise your hand and you say that you will swear to uphold the Constitution, And she decides that, you know, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:36:47 You know, I understand and I feel bad for the, you know, the child that was murdered last week. You know, no one should be murdered, of course. But these crimes are taking place, Anthony, these crimes are taking place because by and large, the Democrat Party is pro-criminal. Exactly. And this governor and this mayor in the city of Albuquerque believe that it's the gun and not the criminal. I mean, they're letting out, you know, the no bail, you know, releases, you know, and things like that.
Starting point is 00:37:25 That's going on here. They're doing the same thing in New Mexico? The no bail releases and things like that. That's going on here. They're doing the same thing in New Mexico like they're doing in Illinois and California? And the police, the morale in the police is terrible. I mean, I used to work for the Berlin County Sheriff's Department. And a lot of the deputies, a lot of the police department officers are, a lot of them are quitting, they're resigning, they're retiring early just to get out of there. I have a couple of friends that resigned that had years and years of service. One family, three members of that family were in the Albuquerque Police Department. And all three of them quit early. Anthony, I don't know
Starting point is 00:38:08 the political landscape of New Mexico. The top official of the New Mexico State Police, I don't know if his title or her title is superintendent or chief of police or executive director.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Who is the highest official in the New Mexico State Police? Well, it would be the state police chief. I don't remember who the name of, you know, escapes me right now. Is he a recent appointee? I think this person has been on the job for about a year, I believe. Okay, that's fairly recent.
Starting point is 00:38:49 I may be wrong. The governor said that the police of Albuquerque and the county police will not be the ones responsible for enforcing the law, but the state police would be brought in to enforce it. And then she also made comments in her press conference that she's asking the Biden administration to bolster federal presence in Albuquerque, ATF, FBI, Secret Service. She named off the alphabet letter agencies, and she said she wants federal agents to come to Albuquerque. Is that because she suspects that the local police are not going to follow her command? Well, you know, they're not going to. The Burnley County Sheriff already said that he's not going to have anything to do with this.
Starting point is 00:39:47 And he's going to actually have a press conference here probably in a couple hours to discuss it. And then, of course, the police chief, well, you know, he's appointed by the mayor. So he's going to follow whatever the mayor does. But he actually came out and the chief of police and the sheriff were in the press conference on friday and they've they both said that they're not going to have anything to do with it which i'm kind of surprised that the police chief is not going to have anything to do but of course the bernalillo county sheriff is is the highest elected law enforcement person here in Bernalillo County. So that's a plus that they're not going to support what the governor is doing.
Starting point is 00:40:35 Yes, but she's going to bring in federal agents to knock heads. Well, for now she's going to bring in the state police. So we're going to have more presence of the New Mexico State Police in the city. All right. Let me ask you, again, let's say one minute. Will the citizens of Albuquerque and Brunello County, will they comply or will they resist? Well, I've seen quite a bit of difference on both sides. Most of the people that have contacted me through our website have said
Starting point is 00:41:05 that they're not going to comply. We did a little bumper sticker that comes out that says, hashtag, we will not comply. So me personally, I'm a consult carry instructor, you know, sanctioned by the New Mexico DPS. So I have to follow whatever. I'm not going to, you know, rock the boat on that because I don't want to lose my certification as a New Mexico consult care instructor. Anthony, you're going to lose your rights. You're losing your rights, Anthony. You got to be willing to give up something. You got to fight for your rights.
Starting point is 00:41:44 That's true. But we are, that's why we're filing a lawsuit. That's why other people file a lawsuit. You know, the main thing is we need money. We're a small organization. You know, we've been around since 1935. Again, the website is nmssa.org. We have a donation page on there we accept donations from anybody anywhere so if anybody would like to donate to the association to help us fight this governor uh you know we fight in santa fe every year we're up there trying to block all these unconstitutional bills she just figured she'd find another way to do it so she's not going to stop us. So she's not going to stop us. You know, she's not going to stop me. I just don't want to have a problem
Starting point is 00:42:27 with my concealed carry instructor license. However, for everybody else, you know, you do what you want. You do what you feel is right. Mm-hmm. All right. Well, listen, Anthony,
Starting point is 00:42:40 patriots all over America are watching New Mexico right now. So we're going to have our eyes on your state. We're going to be watching what develops and how they try to enforce this unconstitutional rule. I really appreciate you taking time today to be with us here on True News. My guest, Anthony Segura, is the executive director of the New Mexico chapter of the NRA. Anthony, thank you so much for being here. Thanks for having me, Rick.
Starting point is 00:43:09 All right. Thank you. All right. We're going to take a break. I'll be back in just one minute. This is Rick Wiles from True News, and I've got a big announcement. True News has returned to WWCR, International Shortwave Radio. Yes, beginning on 9-11, True News will be heard worldwide on
Starting point is 00:43:31 WWCR, frequency 12-160 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. Eastern, that's 5 to 9 p.m. UTC, and on frequency 48-40 from 10 p.m. Eastern to 2 a.m. That's 3 a.m. UTC and on frequency 4840 from 10 p.m. Eastern to 2 a.m. at 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. UTC. True News back on WWCR.
Starting point is 00:43:54 Hey, welcome back to True News. We are streaming live today. It's our new format, two hours long and going live 12 noon to 2 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday. We are streaming on truenews.com, faithinvalues.com, Rumble, Getter, I forget all the other platforms, but I'll have a list of them tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:44:20 But we are doing this a different way. You know, when I started 20, almost 25 years ago, Doc, in 1999, we were streaming. We were streaming live in 1999. That's what's really amazing. Yeah, we were pioneers in alternative news media. And we were streaming and we were doing what later became called podcasts. They were MP3 files.
Starting point is 00:44:47 And we were distributing True News through streaming, MP3 files, and International Shortwave Radio in 1999. And guess what? We're back doing it again. We're streaming. We're doing podcasting. And we're back on International Shortwave Radio. We're glad to be on WWCR. It's been many years since I've been on WWCR Shortwave.
Starting point is 00:45:15 During the daytime here in the East Coast, 12 to 2, and then a repeat from 2 to 4, we are broadcasting on Shortwave on frequency 12, 1, 6, 0. And then tonight from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Eastern time, we will repeat the program twice on frequency 48, 40. So the UTC times are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on 12, 1, 6-0 and 3 a.m. to 7 a.m. UTC on frequency 4840. And I've already been getting emails from people telling me the signal today is awesome, fantastic. Good. Coming in loud and clear all over North America.
Starting point is 00:46:01 So that's one of the great things about international shortwave. And WWCR is literally the granddaddy of all shortwave radio stations here in America. What happened was because of the financial problems, the legal problems that Alex Jones is having, and with his bankruptcy and his court issues and lawsuits, they were unable to remain on WWCR. And the station's management reached out to us and said, you are our first choice to replace Alex Jones on our station. Would you like to have the eight hours that InfoWars has been using for over 25 years? So we prayed about it. We said, yes, we're going to do it.
Starting point is 00:46:49 And then that compelled us to change our start times to 12 noon and to go live. And so that's how all this has come together in the past month. In the middle of all this, we are moving. We are physically moving. we have sold our church building we are moving to a new location we sold the church building to another church it's a great local congregation and we are dismantling our facility packing it up moving to another location and maintaining operations at the same time. Yes.
Starting point is 00:47:28 So my studio now is here in my office. These are really my bookcases. These really are my books. Those really are our flags. This isn't fake. It's a real office. And Doc and I are in the corner of my office. A little bit different look for us here because it kind of harkens back to our radio days a bit. Yeah, I like it. Behind a hard mic. And so this is where Rick and I, you know, really cut our
Starting point is 00:47:53 teeth in broadcasting that was in radio. And so we've kind of shifted. For the past several years, we've been a video program that had audio components. Now we're kind of shifting back to being an audio program with video components. That's our roots. We're going back to our roots. And it's interesting, Doc, that this new format and return to shortwave is on 9-11. Yes. And folks, you know what was, for those of you who have listened to me for a long time, you will understand this.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Others, you'll say, I don't understand what you're talking about. We'll just keep coming back and you'll figure it out one day. When I walked in the door today into our church lobby, do you know what I heard? Alarms. Yes. The alarms were ringing and they couldn't be turned off. In the foyer of our church, when I walked in this morning, the alarms were ringing. I can testify to that because I had to say to Rick, don't be alarmed that the alarms are running right now. We're actually doing an update to our alarm system.
Starting point is 00:48:54 And we had to have the alarm company come out to the facility today. So the alarms were ringing, and they could not be turned off on 9-11. That's what I heard, which was a reminder to me of why I'm streaming and broadcasting. It is to tell people that we are racing towards the end of the world. Jesus Christ is coming back. You must be ready. And the way that you're ready is that you are born again and you are baptized and you are entered into the book of life. You have been brought into the church of Jesus Christ and you are spiritually ready to meet your maker.
Starting point is 00:49:38 That's our message. In 1999, my message was Jesus Christ is America's only hope. In 2023, my message is Jesus Christ is America's only hope. In 2023, my message is Jesus Christ is America's only hope. I continue to give out the same message. Repent. Believe in the name of Jesus. Cry out to God for mercy. Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Jesus Christ, Son of God,
Starting point is 00:50:09 have mercy on me, a sinner. We will be talking about a lot of other news stories this week. We've got a couple more I want to talk about here to wrap up this discussion of New Mexico. I want to put up on the screen this headline. This is from Fox News. New Mexico governor shocks with comment about Constitution after issuing gun ban. Not absolute, she says. And then here's a video report from Albuquerque TV station,
Starting point is 00:50:39 KRQE TV 13. And there are several New Mexico state legislators calling for her impeachment. Not going to happen. No, it's not going to happen. But this is what they're saying. It's a move by the governor that has made national headlines, a 30 day ban on carrying firearms in any public spaces across Bernalillo County to curb gun violence. Since the announcement yesterday, it's drawn major criticism from across the country, leading to two New Mexico lawmakers calling for the impeachment of Governor Luan Grisham following her public health order. News 13's Gabe Chavez has more.
Starting point is 00:51:18 We made an oath, which is a promise that we swear that we're going to uphold the Constitution, the rights of New Mexicans, and she threw that right out the window. Anger, frustration, and shocked. That's how some state leaders are feeling today after the governor's public health order went into effect yesterday afternoon. I was completely shocked and taken by surprise that she would do such a gross overreach and completely violate the Constitution. Our governor, she called for
Starting point is 00:51:46 open season on law-abiding citizens by subverting the state and federal constitutions and laws of our state, and that's something that needs to be remedied immediately. The governor's public health order bans open and concealed firearms in public spaces throughout Albuquerque and Bernalillo County for 30 days. This order does not impact law enforcement or licensed security officers and does not impact those who carry a gun on private property. Representatives Lord and Block both say even those on the other side of the political aisle are shocked and angered by this. I ran into someone who is on the other side of the aisle of me and some issues. There's a lot that we do agree on, but there's this one I was surprised.
Starting point is 00:52:27 He came up to me, Democrat, was in the area. He said, I am so angry at the governor. This public health order has also sparked three lawsuits, one threatened by state Senate Republican minority leader Greg Baca and one planned by House Republicans. Well, Doc, the Republicans can try to impeach gun grabber Grisham, but it's not going to happen simply because of the political numbers. I just looked at while this was playing. What is the political makeup, the composition of the New Mexico state legislature, the state Senate, out of 42 seats, the Democrats control 27. Republicans have 15.
Starting point is 00:53:13 In the New Mexico House, 70 seats total. Democrats control 45. Republicans, 25. The numbers are against the Republicans. They're not even going to get an impeachment resolution to the floor of the House. They won't get it through the door of the House. No, it's not going to go anywhere. So the people of New Mexico arrested—arrested?
Starting point is 00:53:43 They should. The people of New Mexico elected gun grabber Grisham and elected the legislature. Right. And now they have to decide whether they're going to support them. is the public, the American public has been dumbed down so much that many people in this country are willing to give up their constitutional rights. In fact, there are millions of people in America that would give up the entire Constitution. Yes, there are. They're ready to give it up. Because it's racist and it's a throwback to a bygone era.
Starting point is 00:54:22 Yeah. A dozen different reasons why they throw it out. They're definitely ready. But Rick, when you swear an oath to the constitution, you're swearing, you're making a promise that you're going to do everything you can to enforce what that constitution is. Even above the people that it represents.
Starting point is 00:54:42 That's what a lot of people don't understand. When you swear an oath, when a military officer swears an oath to uphold the constitution, do you want him to pick and choose which one of the rights that he is going to defend? No, you want him to defend all the rights. And when a governor or public official,
Starting point is 00:55:00 when they take a note, that's a promise, a promise based upon your integrity and your character that you're going to uphold that. Once that's gone, then what do you have? You have tyranny. Constitutional rights are not, it's not a buffet bar. It's not a cafeteria. Yes. You can't say, I like that. I don't want this. The Constitution comes whole, complete. And as you said, when you swear an oath, you swear an oath to uphold the entire Constitution, not just the parts that you like. But everything. But we've reached a point
Starting point is 00:55:38 politically in this country. We have been neutered politically as a people. We've been dumbed down. Most people don't have any idea what's in the Constitution. Now they're being told that the Constitution itself is bad because it was written by white men who were white nationalists. You know, I mean, all this, it's Marxist communist propaganda in America. And this is the point I want to make in this remaining three minutes here in this first hour. Friends, I believe the Democrat Party is the U.S. affiliate
Starting point is 00:56:17 of the China Communist Party. I believe the China Communist Party, under the direction of Xi Jinping, silently overthrew the United States of America in 2020. They are running a soft revolution in this country. They installed Beijing Biden in the White House. They've got Marxist Milley in the Pentagon. They have infiltrated, I'm talking about the China Communist Party, they have infiltrated every level of our government all the way down to local school boards. They are waging war on the American people and they have traitors in both parties. I'm not just singling out the Democrat Party, although it's wholly
Starting point is 00:57:08 owned by the China Communist Party, but there are Republican traders also, and they have sold out our country. And I believe that what the Democrats are doing in just in recent weeks, we've seen a flurry of mask mandates and talk, vaccine mandates, lockdowns, the closure of churches and schools and businesses, also gun bans, and a suspension of constitutional rights, freedom of speech. Yes. It will happen. And they have been doing it through the technology companies that they control. Right.
Starting point is 00:58:08 And so one by one, they are destroying our constitutional rights. But I believe that the Democrats are getting ready for a coordinated attack on our constitutional rights in 2024. It's all being directed by Xi Jinping and China. They've got Beijing Beijing Biden in the White House. There's so much evidence that the Bidens are owned by China and nobody does anything. Right. Nothing. There's enough evidence to put the Bidens away for a million years. And there's no investigation, no outcry to put them in prison, to remove them from the White House. That's because China is controlling this country. China is controlling the news media.
Starting point is 00:58:55 China is controlling every part of our infrastructure of our country. And what I want to do is continue to warn the American people to be vigilant, to be on guard, to be aware that there is a strategy that is being played out right now. See, a lot of Americans haven't even caught up with what happened to them with the COVID lockdowns. They're still processing it. Well, you're about to get hit with another wave of attacks on your freedoms and your liberties. And so they're counting on most of the people not being able to process it when they unleash the second wave. That's right. And that's what they're counting on.
Starting point is 00:59:42 We're going to take a break. And when we come back, Doc and I are going to switch from bad news to good news. And we're going to teach from the word of God in the second hour. I hope you like this new format and I hope you tell your friends about it. You're watching True News. I'm Rick Wiles. Doc Burkhart is here with me. We'll be back in just a minute. You're listening to WWCR, International Shortwave Radio. Stay connected with us on Getter, Rumble, Facebook, X, and Odyssey. For exclusive content, visit our platform, Faith and Values, through desktop, iOS, or Android. Well, here we are back, second hour of our first day streaming live 12 to 2 Eastern time
Starting point is 01:00:31 and broadcasting. We'd love to hear from you today, too, no matter where you're listening to us. Yeah, please let us know. You can email us at info at truenews, info at truenews.com, info at truenews.com. And if you don't know about our new platform, wow, I want to introduce you to it. It is called Faith and Values. And we just got tired of being deplatformed, so we built our own platform. That's right. And it's awesome.
Starting point is 01:01:01 It's called Faith and Values. We believe it is the leading community for conservative Christian families. And you can become a member at Faith and Values. That's the word and, A-N-D, faithandvalues.com. And we are offering a special this month. This is really our first month fully to operate Faith and Values. It's brand new, but you can get a 30-day free trial and check it out for yourself. Go to faithinvalues.com. We're also offering a membership price of $8.99, and we are locking it down for you for 36 months. Now, we're not locking you down to paying it for 36 months.
Starting point is 01:01:54 This is not a lockdown. We're not locking down anybody. What we're saying is if you stay in Faith and Values, we promise that your price will not go beyond $899 per month for the next 36 months. Now, you can cancel at any time. There's no contract, no written contract, but we're giving you a price guarantee for 36 months of $899. The $899 is basic monthly support for the distribution of all the content that we're making and the construction, the operation of this platform. Bandwidth. The bandwidth.
Starting point is 01:02:31 You know, we have been spending $20,000 to $25,000 a month just on bandwidth. That's right. For years. People don't realize that. That's over a quarter million dollars a year, just on bandwidth. And I've said that in the past, it's shocked people who had no idea.
Starting point is 01:02:47 Rick, I had no idea that you guys were spending that much money on bandwidth. Yeah. So when we give it away free, it costs. Somebody has to pay for the bandwidth. We have to send it out to the world. There's a cost for bandwidth and storage. So this price, $899, is to help defray these infrastructure costs. It costs money to have people, website designers, programmers, coders. There's a lot of money involved in this.
Starting point is 01:03:17 They don't work for free. In fact, they're some of the highest paid people in the country. And they're in very tight demand. A lot of companies are trying to hire those people with those skills. So we are competing in the marketplace up against large companies with big budgets. And this is why we're asking people to join Faith and Values. Give us a basic foundation for operating revenue every month. We are supported. We will continue to be supported overwhelmingly by the love offerings, the gifts,
Starting point is 01:03:56 the donations of our audience. We've also started this week, we have started with some corporate sponsors, and Genesis Gold is our first one. We're very excited about having Genesis Gold. If you are interested in talking to the folks at Genesis Gold, go to truenewsgold.com. Did I say it right? You did. I said truenewsgold.com, true news gold, T-R-U-N-E-W-S, truenewsgold.com. And that will take you to the page to give you information about Genesis Gold.
Starting point is 01:04:29 And when you talk to the folks at Genesis, tell them you watch True News, you listen to True News, and they'll treat you right. They really like the True News audience. The president, the owner of Genesis Gold, has personally told me that the True News audience is the nicest people he's ever done business with. He really has. He said, I've never had people so polite, nice, and courteous and so loyal to a host. One man drove several hours just to go to the corporate office of Genesis Gold and shake the hand of the owner to say thank you for supporting True News. He said, I've never had that happen in my lifetime running this business.
Starting point is 01:05:11 That's great. Yes. We have a great audience. We do. But even the support of Genesis Gold and other advertisers will just be a tiny fraction of our monthly operating expenses. We're just, we're doing things different. Folks, nothing changes doing things different. Folks,
Starting point is 01:05:25 nothing changes until something changes. So we reached a point where we had to make some changes and nothing changes until something changes. And this is the season of change for us as a ministry, but also for the friends and partners who have been with us for that period of time. Maybe many of you are experiencing change in your own life right now. Maybe you don't even recognize it as a period of change because you're just so busy with life and everything else going on around you. But we encourage you, if you've been a friend and partner of this ministry, we're connected together spiritually.
Starting point is 01:05:59 And we want to encourage you that we're in this together with you as you go through your own spiritual change and whatever you're going through right now. And some of you can identify with everything going on in the world around us. And yet we're experiencing change as well. Amen. Well, one of the things that we wanted to do as we get started in this kind of a new format here is really what Rick and I are all about is about the gospel message about the kingdom and, you know, the news. Yes, that's important to talk about.
Starting point is 01:06:32 It's we're supposed to discern the times and be aware of what's going on in the world around us. But at the same time, the news isn't the answer, is it, Rick? No, it's not. And I've said many times a lot of a lot of patriots, a lot of Christians, a lot of conservatives are focusing so much energy and effort and time trying to understand what is going on in the world and in this country that it's like getting a doctorate degree in demonology. I mean, there's only so much of the stuff that you need to know because once you know what's happening and who's doing it and why it's happening, why do you have to know more? There's just a limit of what you need to know.
Starting point is 01:07:18 I tell people, you know, I don't have to scuba dive into the bottom of a septic tank to figure out what's in it. The stuff that's in it at the top is the same that's in it at the bottom. Right. I don't have to get in it. I can just look and smell. I know what's in it. But a lot of people are diving deep into the septic tank of news.
Starting point is 01:07:41 Yes. And they're forgetting the good news, and they're getting out of balance in their personal life, and they're becoming depressed or angry or hopeless because the devil is busy building his world. What's going on? The devil is building his world for his man, the son of perdition. Most people call him the Antichrist. The Bible doesn't call him the Antichrist. The Bible calls him the son of perdition, the man of destruction. Antichrist is a spirit.
Starting point is 01:08:12 Antichrist, the spirit, has been here since the crucifixion. Yes, there's not going to be a man with the label Antichrist. No. But he'll have the Antichrist spirit. And the Antichrist spirit has been, you know, John said it was alive and well in his day. That's right. And it's alive and well in our day today. But the Bible does speak about a man of perdition that will likely be revealed.
Starting point is 01:08:36 But, you know, people, somebody else decided the definitions of all these different characters. Right. And so our job is to help find the Bible definition of all these different characters. Doc, I was always told, I'm sure you were too, right? Son of perdition, perdition meaning destruction, the man of destruction. I was always told that the picture that was painted to me was this man that we call Antichrist. He's a man of destruction. He's going to destroy the world
Starting point is 01:09:05 with nuclear bombs and biological warfare. It's horrible. He's going to destroy the world. Well, I'm sure that's part of the mission, but that's not all that he does to carry out his name, son of perdition. He destroys everything that has been part of human civilization since the Garden of Eden. Yes. We're witnessing it right now. They are actively dismantling human civilization, culture, customs, laws. And now biology. Biology.
Starting point is 01:09:51 They're telling children there are over 50 genders or more you can be any gender you want to be and now scientists are telling us they can create life in the lab without an egg sperm or womb that just happened last week in Israel. And that's part of this spirit that's in the world today, to take God out of every aspect of life, from everything from culture all the way down to the cellular level where God is not involved. Man and Satan can do a better job than God ever could. Satan is re-engineering Genesis. Yes. The plan is to create, recreate a world.
Starting point is 01:10:30 Satan wants his own creation, his own Genesis. He wants to undo everything God did. And he wants to make the world in his image. And the people will be conformed to the image of the beast. But God's plan is to bring us back to the garden.
Starting point is 01:10:46 Yes. At the end of time. Yes. And Jesus Christ in the book of Revelation, Jesus Christ comes back to destroy those who destroy his earth. Yes. So the son of perdition is destroying the earth, destroying the creation. So we hear about all these different environmentalists,
Starting point is 01:11:01 these green communists that are out there saying they're saving the planet. Really, the agenda is to destroy the planet. Absolutely. And to build a new world in Satan's image. And this is why the three angels in the last days, this mission that they have, the first angel cries out as he encircles the earth, worship the creator. This is the age that we must return to creationism, to worship the creator, the God who created this world. Because the reason this is so important is Satan will be undoing creation and recreating another Yes. And we have to cry out, worship the true creator. Amen. The second angel cries out, Babylon has fallen. The third angel cries out, do not take the mark of the beast.
Starting point is 01:11:56 This is all happening right now. We're living in this age. And most Christians, it's almost like we're paralyzed with being dumbfounded. Like we're witnessing this. We're staring at it. We're going, what is going on? How could this be happening? It's mind-boggling.
Starting point is 01:12:18 We've got to snap out of it. We've got to snap out of this mesmerized state that we have fallen into of just gawking at what they the luciferians are doing right because they're laughing at us and they're saying look at the christians they're doing nothing they don't even believe what jesus told them was going to happen if they believed it they would be active they would be worshiping the, they would be active. They would be worshiping the Creator. They would be preaching the gospel. They would be proclaiming the kingdom. But they're just watching videos, trying to figure out what we're doing.
Starting point is 01:12:54 And telling other people, can you believe that they're doing this right out in the open, in plain sight? They're doing it in our faces. That's all we're doing. Is observing. Observing and talking. Not us. We're going and we're proclaiming and we're teaching. And that's why we built this new platform, Faith and Values.
Starting point is 01:13:13 Doc and I host a morning Bible study called Morning Manna. And we stream live at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday, Eastern Time, 8 Eastern. And we have a Bible study in real time. Yes. And we have a growing audience that's showing up every day from 12, 13, 14 countries around the world. And when we say a growing audience, we mean hundreds of people. We don't mean like, well, there's 12 of us that get together in the morning. No, hundreds of people are gathering at 8 a.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, and joining us as we simply read the Word and talk about it. That's really all we do. And then the Bible study is available at Video On Demand within minutes. And so I haven't even checked to see how many people are watching it on Video
Starting point is 01:14:01 On Demand. I'm just looking at 350, 360 people showing up in real time live so that when Doc and I turn on the stream, there are nearly 400 people from around the world sitting there waiting on us to teach the Word of God to them. And when we say around the world, we're talking about 12 to 15 different countries a day, ranging all over Europe to Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Siberia.
Starting point is 01:14:28 I mean, we're going places with the gospel message that a lot of ministers and pastors would, you know, would dream about being able to go. Yes. Jesus' instructions to his disciples was to go into all the world to preach and teach yes preach the gospel preach the kingdom teach make disciples of all men and women baptize lay hands on the sick cast out devils those are the instructions they're still in effect and so we made a decision. We've done more than enough to analyze the world news for people. We've gone beyond the call of duty in resisting and telling the people this is what they're doing and how they're doing it and why they're doing it. We came to the place where we said there's nothing else new that we can say.
Starting point is 01:15:26 I've said it all. Honestly, this is how I feel, Doc. I've said it all. Well, what else can you say? I'm just repeating myself. When I talk about the news, I'm just repeating myself after that. There's nothing else to say. It's the same thing. I came to the place where I made up my mind. I am going to give more effort and more time, more energy, more resources of this ministry to preaching and teaching the word to those who want to hear it. Right. And that means the people have ears to hear and eyes to see. And others, if they decide they want to check out, go look.
Starting point is 01:16:10 You know, there'll be people say, well, I'm done with this. They've already talked about the news. I'm going to go find another podcast. Jesus dealt with that, too. I mean, he said, anyone got ears to hear, let them hear. In other words, there were some of you that are already tuning out on my message. And they walked out on Jesus. Yes.
Starting point is 01:16:24 They walked out on Jesus. I've heard this one before. I'm going back to Galilee. Oh, he's going to tell that parable again. You know? And they checked out and walked away from him because they wanted to be entertained. And Jesus leans in. Now, if you've got ears,
Starting point is 01:16:38 you're going to hear what I'm saying. That's right. But some of them didn't. And when he would teach in parables, he would teach the public in parables, and then he would take the real disciples in the house. He'd go somewhere private and explain the parable to them. Right. So he recognized who wanted to know, who had a desire, who had a hunger to know.
Starting point is 01:16:59 Well, in our morning Bible study, we have been in the book of Acts, the Acts of the Apostles. And what I'm going to do today is start on this Monday, September 11. We're going to start with chapter one of the book of Acts in the second hour of each show. And we're going to go all the way through the book of Acts. I don't know how long it's going to take. Probably a couple months. You might be saying, are you serious? You're going to take several months? Yeah. Yeah, I am. We're going to go line by line, verse by verse, and we're going to dig down deep and dig for the gold, dig for the gems, dig for the diamonds, the spiritual wealth, and bring it up. And bring something to you that feeds your soul, that blesses you,
Starting point is 01:17:57 that makes you closer to God, that makes you hunger and thirst for righteousness. That's what we're going to do. And some of know, some of you, if you're working and you're not able to watch, but you can listen, just listen to a Bible study. If you're driving, listen to a Bible study. The second hour every day is going to be a Bible study. So let's start with the book of Acts, and we'll start with chapter 1.
Starting point is 01:18:22 And let's pray first, Doc, and invite the Holy Spirit here. Father, Father, we praise you, creator of the universe. Father, we praise you in the name of Jesus, your son. And we invite the Holy Spirit into this broadcast, this audio stream, this video stream, we ask that the Holy Spirit would teach us the word, anoint us to teach, open spiritual ears and eyes of the people listening and watching all over the world and illuminate their spirits, their hearts and their minds
Starting point is 01:19:00 with the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the awesomeness of his kingdom and the trustworthiness of your word, Father, in the name of Jesus. Amen. Amen. Doc, let's, I think we might be able to get through the first five verses of Acts chapter one. We tend to dig pretty deep. So let's see if we can get through those first five verses here. Let's read Acts chapter 1, verses 1 through 5. The former treaties I made O Theophilus concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach. Until the day in which he was received up.
Starting point is 01:19:40 After that, he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen. Verse 3, to whom he also showed himself alive after his passion by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of forty days, and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God. And being assembled together with them, he charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which said he, ye heard from me. Verse 5, for John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days hence. Now let's put verse 1 back up on the screen there, and let's talk about this.
Starting point is 01:20:19 What is the book of Acts really all about, Rick? Well, let's start with the title. It's commonly called the book of Acts really all about, Rick? Well, let's start with the title. It's commonly called the book of Acts. The proper name is the book of the Acts of the Apostles. My personal view is if I could name the book, it would be the book of the acts of Jesus Christ through his apostles. Yes. Because this is about Jesus. This is, it's not about the apostles, their actions.
Starting point is 01:20:52 It's about Jesus acting after his resurrection and ascension. He's acting through the apostles. And Jesus continues to act today through his disciples. Yes. He didn't stop acting. Yes. When we got to the end of the book of Acts, he didn't suddenly stop acting. No, he's still doing the actions of miracles, signs and wonders, of teaching, of blessing people.
Starting point is 01:21:23 He's still active. Jesus Christ is still carrying out His actions. And so He continues to teach us His Word through His Spirit, and He continues to do things today by answering our prayers and our petitions. Now, it's the fifth book of the New Testament, and it tells us the founding of the Christian church, the miracles performed by the apostles, the persecution of the church, its movement out of Jerusalem into Judea, Samaria, the gospel according to St. Luke and the Acts of the Apostles comprise two-thirds of the Bible. That's right. It's a significant amount. It's a—well, excuse me, it's not two-thirds. I'd say it's one-fourth, about one-fourth. It's a two-thirds. I'd say it's one-fourth, about one-fourth. It's a two-volume writing by Luke.
Starting point is 01:22:27 It's basically 26% of the Bible. The Gospel according to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles together make up about 26% of the New Testament Bible. It used to be back in the early church that often the two were read together. It wasn't until years later after the canon was established that the gospel of Luke was put together with the gospels and the acts of the apostle picked back up. And so it was like a two volume set written by Luke. Now the gospel, according to Luke, tells us how God fulfilled his plan to redeem fallen mankind. The plan was to send his only begotten son to earth to be born as a human. And the plan unfolded with the life, death, burial, resurrection of Jesus Christ on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ while he was fulfilling all that he had been appointed by the Father to accomplish.
Starting point is 01:23:31 Yes. To be born of a virgin and to die a resurrected king and to rise up as a resurrected king after his crucifixion. Acts of the Apostles picks up the story after the resurrection, the 40 days between the resurrection and the ascension. And then the Acts of Jesus through the apostles after his ascension to heaven and the arrival of the Holy Spirit, who is the governor of the kingdom of God on earth. And so that's the basis of the book of Acts of the Apostles. It begins with the ascension of Jesus to heaven and continues with the arrival of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. It covers the rapid spread of the christian faith among jerusalem's jews it talks about the persecution of the believing jews their flight from jerusalem to samaria to escape the persecution
Starting point is 01:24:37 and the establishment of the first church in the city of Antioch. Doc, I see key elements in the Acts of the Apostles. There are two leaders, Peter and Paul. There are two cities, Jerusalem and Rome. Yes. Two groups, Jews and Gentiles, two races, saved and unsaved. Yes. That's really the heart of this book. You break it down into pairs.
Starting point is 01:25:09 The Acts of the Apostles is divided into these sections. The introduction, the beginning of the church in Jerusalem, the expansion of the church to Samaria, the conversion of Saul, his renaming to Paul, the conversion of Cornelius, the formation of the church in Antioch, Paul's missionary trip from Antioch to Rome, the rapid influx of Gentiles into the church in Antioch,
Starting point is 01:25:34 the Jerusalem-based apostolic affirmation of the church in Antioch, the church expansion throughout the Roman Empire, and Apostle Paul's final days in Rome, teaching and preaching in Rome. Verse 1. This is Acts 1, verse 1. The former treatise I made. This is Luke. And he's writing to some guy named Theophilus concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to
Starting point is 01:26:08 teach. Now the former treatise he's talking about was the Gospel of Luke. And so I would assume that. Wouldn't you say that's the case? Yes. But I see here, Doc, all that Jesus began to both do
Starting point is 01:26:24 and teach. He began to do and teach. This is after his resurrection. He really got started after the resurrection. Right. He's still doing and he's still teaching. This guy, Theophilus. Luke addressed Theophilus at the beginning of the Gospel according to St. Luke, and he addressed Theophilus at the beginning of Part 2, the Book of Acts. Who was Theophilus?
Starting point is 01:26:56 The name, some people say it was a specific man, other people say it was a title. The name means friend of God or beloved by God. Ancient church tradition maintains that Theophilus was a specific man, a certain man. But there was a man known by Luke, and Egypt maintains that Theophilus was a Jew from Alexandria, Egypt, who had converted to Christianity. John Wesley wrote in his notes on the gospel, according to St. Luke, that Theophilus was a person of eminent quality at Alexandria. So there are highly respected Christian theologians over many centuries who were certain that Theophilus was a man, an Egyptian from Alexandria. And that's who Luke was speaking to. If you view the gospel according to St. Luke in the Acts of the Apostles as a two-volume set written by Luke on the ministry of Jesus
Starting point is 01:28:18 in the Acts of the Apostles, you notice that Luke addressed Theophilus in both volumes. In Luke 1, verse 3, the apostle referred to him as the most excellent Theophilus. And so, Doc, to me, the way I read it is Luke wrote the gospel according to Luke and the acts of the apostles. He wrote it like as a report to Theophilus. Right. It was like a personal report that he compiled and gave it to this man, Theophilus. As if he had been commissioned to do it.
Starting point is 01:28:57 Yes. Which very well could be the case that Theophilus might have asked, can you provide me a report on these things that Jesus Christ has done and that these people called Christians are doing? What's the story, Dr. Luke? Right. And because the word Theophilus means friend of God, beloved of God, it was also a title given to respected people.
Starting point is 01:29:23 And instead of saying, saying doc you friend of God right it was just Theophilus right okay there's a title an honorary title or like when we travel to Africa so he comes up to and said man of God of God yes so yeah that's that's the way they greet you in Africa, man of God. So this meant the same thing. Luke chapter 1, verses 1 through 4. Let's take a look at what this says. For as much as many have taken in hand to draw up a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us, even as they delivered them unto us, who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word,
Starting point is 01:30:12 it seemed good to me, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, that thou mightest know the certainty concerning the things And so Theophilus was somebody that Luke was ministering to, personally speaking to, wanted him to know. I travel with Jesus. I am an eyewitness to these things. Theophilus, I want you to know all these things are true. I gathered the interviews. I saw the things myself that I'm reporting to you so that you
Starting point is 01:30:56 can know that this is an accurate report, an accurate telling, first in the gospel of the ministry and life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, and then continue on in the gospel of the ministry and life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and then continue on in the Acts of the Apostles. This is what the impact of that resurrection did and the advancement of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire. Yes. You know, Doc, something else that's interesting about the Acts of the Apostles is that very few of the apostles are mentioned. That's right. Or at least a full expansion of what happened to them. Most of what we know about the apostles have been handed down to us in church tradition.
Starting point is 01:31:30 As you said earlier, the main focus of the book of Acts of the apostles is really on Peter and Paul. And so now there are other apostles that appear, but they're just like turning of a page. They appear and then they're gone. So, for instance, James, you know, and others, too. They're just mentioned and as if to say exit stage right. That's right. They're gone.
Starting point is 01:31:56 But they acted corporately as the apostles, but their names were not mentioned in the actions that they took. Let's look at the second part of verse 1. Concerning all that Jesus began both to do and to teach. So Luke began his narrative to Theophilus, informing him that it would concern things that Jesus began to do in deeds and instructions. As I said, if I could name the book, it would be Acts of Jesus Christ in Heaven through his apostles on earth.
Starting point is 01:32:39 Right. Because the resurrected king sitting on the throne of David in heaven was directing the affairs on earth and acting through the apostles. But Jesus is still the star of the show. Yes. He's the star. He is the star. it's Jesus Christ who initiates the actions, and the apostles are his instruments on earth to facilitate those actions. The apostles are like tokens on a game board, and he can move them, the Lord himself.
Starting point is 01:33:20 He can move them and put them any place on the game board, or he can remove them from the game board. Right. And that's something that all of us should understand. Myself, all of us. That we are here on earth for a very brief time.
Starting point is 01:33:38 Yes. And there comes a day that we exit. And in a short period of time, nobody remembers you. Yes. I mean, a very short time. That's why I always make jokes. A doctor knows I said, hey, I want to make sure just when I die, make sure that at the funeral, at the wake, that they have potato salad in five gallon barrels.
Starting point is 01:34:02 All right. And the reason is after all the potato salads eaten, the funeral's over. Everybody goes home, goes back to life and they forgot about you. Well, they'll remember the five gallon potato. Yeah. They'll remember that.
Starting point is 01:34:17 So yeah, the funeral ends when all the potato salad has been eaten. So, you know, have lots of potato salad at my funeral. Because once that's gone, your history, even your relatives, your closest friends, they have to
Starting point is 01:34:31 put you out of their mind in order to cope. And within a couple days, the grieving has stopped, and life goes on. And your history, your history, look at, you know, was it earlier this year when Queen elizabeth died well actually it's been a year has it been that long yeah the anniversary is last week i was it really yes
Starting point is 01:34:53 but that stately but that just shows you funeral that the it just passed and and and you know the world was watching this this grand and glorious funeral and then suddenly she's in the ground and the crown is on her son and she's history right and as i was saying you know it's been a year and and i was thinking it was months. Well, anyhow, that's something all of us should know is that it's the eternal king who is acting through the church. Yes. He's doing his deeds. He's teaching. He's instructing. Now, he's still doing the acts.
Starting point is 01:35:40 Yes. It's Jesus doing the acts. Yes. And he's just got a different group of players on earth right now. But he didn't stop doing, and he didn't stop instructing. What are we doing right now? We're instructing. Yes.
Starting point is 01:35:53 It's the Holy Spirit working through Doc and me right now who is instructing you. We're doing and instructing. The things that Jesus did and what he told his disciples to do was to preach, teach, and heal. That's it. Preach, teach, and heal. Preach, teach,
Starting point is 01:36:18 lay hands on people. The healing comes through the laying on of hands. Not throwing a jacket across the room and your jacket lands on somebody. Remember that stuff that was going on? No, it comes through the laying on of hands. But our assignment is to preach, teach, lay hands on the sick. And so what is the importance of the book of Acts as it relates to that?
Starting point is 01:36:42 It's showing us how real humans put into action the Lord's instructions and how the Lord himself was present through the Holy Spirit to affirm their actions, saying, guys, I told you to obey me, you're obeying me, and now I will back you up. And he backed them up with signs and wonders and miracles. And so I had to take a look at what I was doing. I'm spending too much time. I'm just spending way too much time analyzing the news for people and not analyzing and teaching the good news to people. And I was under conviction about it because the pressure, Doc knows it.
Starting point is 01:37:35 Doc knows the pressure that we come under from portions of our audience that does not want to hear the Word of God. Doesn't want to be instructed. They don't have ears to hear. And they'll throw an old-fashioned hissy fit when you start to instruct. And they'll threaten, I'm going to quit. I'm not going to watch anymore. Okay. So we came to a place where we just said, okay, don't watch.
Starting point is 01:37:59 We're just going to talk to the people who have ears to hear because this is our assignment. The commission is to preach, teach, and lay hands on the sick. So we must study the Acts of the Apostles as the beginning of what Jesus began to St. John in the final moments of Jesus's life on earth while he was on the cross. St. John wrote that Jesus said, it is finished. And he bowed his head and gave up the spirit. Now compare those words, it is finished and gave up the spirit with the opening sentences of the acts of the apostles concerning all that Jesus began to do and to teach.
Starting point is 01:38:57 All right. So it's either finished or it's just beginning. Which is it? The old covenant was finished. Not Jesus. Not Jesus. Not Jesus. He didn't say, I'm finished. This is it.
Starting point is 01:39:10 I'm going to die. He said, it's finished. The old covenant with the Jews is finished. My work on the cross to redeem mankind, it's finished. There was nothing else he needed to do. Nothing else to do. But he wasn't finished. Right. nothing else he needed to do except rise again. Nothing else to do. But he wasn't finished doing on
Starting point is 01:39:28 earth. And he still continues to do things on earth. So the book of the Acts of the Apostles opens up with Jesus began. He began. I love that. And he gave up the Spirit on the cross and then sent the Spirit after he left. Amen.
Starting point is 01:39:45 Man, it's awesome. Just think about that. He gave up the spirit on the cross, sent the spirit after he was resurrected. Amen. And ascended. And so the spirit of God is in us. For a man who said it was finished and gave up his spirit, he's been quite active ever since.
Starting point is 01:40:10 Through the Holy Spirit, this phrase, through the Holy Spirit, it directs our attention to the focal point that was—excuse me, I jumped. I want to go to—I want to point out that his work was not complete. There was nothing else for him to do on the cross to save mankind. Right. And his work did not need a supplement.
Starting point is 01:40:48 It didn't need an addendum. And it certainly wasn't a failure, was it? No, it was not a failure. There was nothing else left for him to do to save the Jews and Israel. Nothing else. Nothing else. Jesus will not build a third temple for the Jews. He will not reinstate the sacrifice of animals for the remission of sins.
Starting point is 01:41:18 He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He gave his blood on the cross for the new covenant, his blood which is poured out for many unto the remission of sins. The main thing Jesus has done since the cross and continues today is to present his gospel to lost souls so that they may choose eternal life or eternal death. There is nothing more he can do.
Starting point is 01:41:50 And in particular, I'm speaking to the Jewish people because there is a lot of false teaching in the American evangelical churches that there's all these things that God must do before Jesus Christ comes back. The state of Israel has to be fully developed. The third temple must be built. The animal sacrifices have to be reinstated. The third heifer has to appear and all this baloney that the Christian Zionists
Starting point is 01:42:23 are teaching. None of it is biblical there is nothing else jesus christ can do for the jews that he didn't do on the cross what he did on the cross was complete yes what the jews need to do is repent of their sins, believe in the name of Jesus, be born again, be baptized, and be brought into his church, which is new Israel. Yes. And by the way, every Gentile needs to do that, too. Every person. There isn't one plan for this group of people, another plan for this group of people.
Starting point is 01:43:05 God only had one plan. And that plan included the death of his son on the cross, but rising again to new life so that we can have new life. And that's for both Jew and Gentile. In fact, we all become part of the family. That's right. There are only two races of humans, saved and unsaved. That's it. Forget the skin color stuff. Forget all this DNA. Forget it. There's two races of people, saved and unsaved. So you are either saved are outside of Israel now. They have been taken out of Israel.
Starting point is 01:43:54 Israel has always been the people who obey God, God's chosen people. God's chosen people are the people who choose to obey God. That's the true Israel. That's the reason that they're chosen. That's the true Israel of God. And so the Jews who believed Jesus became the foundation of the first church. And the Jews who rejected Jesus were removed from Israel and are now on the outside of Israel looking in. Right. They can come back in. They're not prohibited.
Starting point is 01:44:22 They're welcome to come back in. Come back into Israel. But they have to get new passports. And their passports have to be written in the blood of Jesus. Amen. Their name must be written in the blood. But those are the citizenship requirements for every human being. This is the message of the New Testament, the New Covenant, that God has opened up Israel, spiritual Israel, not physical Israel, but spiritual Israel.
Starting point is 01:44:58 He has opened up membership, citizenship in Israel to all races. And please don't give me this, that old British nationalism stuff. And, you know, I don't hear that stuff. You know that, you know what I'm talking about, you know, that the Caucasians of Europe are the 12 tribes. It could be, but that doesn't mean they're the only people who are going to come into the kingdom. They still have to come through the gate of the cross. Yes, they still have to be born again.
Starting point is 01:45:28 They still have to go to the cross. They have to be baptized. They have to be brought into the church. So this is what we're talking about in the book of Acts. Verse 2. Until the day in which he was received up. After that, he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen. This is an interesting verse.
Starting point is 01:45:57 Until the day in which he was received up. It refers, obviously, to the ascension. The day was the 40th day after the resurrection. After that, he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles he had chosen. After that is the ascension. Right. The Holy Spirit was giving instructions after Jesus left in the ascension. He had given commandments through the Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 01:46:33 Did Luke mean the work of commanding the apostles was dedicated to the Holy Spirit, or did Luke mean that Jesus spoke filled with the Holy Spirit? Well, remember, it's not Pentecost yet. So the Holy Spirit hasn't arrived yet.
Starting point is 01:46:49 So what's the explanation of that verse? He had given commandments through the Holy Spirit unto the apostles. The Holy Spirit had not arrived yet. That didn't happen to the day of Pentecost. The Syriac and the Ethiopian translations of the Bible say it this way, after he had given commandments unto the Apostles whom he had chosen by the Holy Spirit. Right. The King James, I think is the most accurate in this translation after that he through the holy ghost had given commandments unto the apostles who he had chosen it's jesus speaking with his spirit that's giving commandments to the apostles and we're talking
Starting point is 01:47:42 about between that time period between the crucifixion and resurrection and the time of the Ascension at this point. Yes. Those 40 days that hardly anyone teaches about. I know. I'm fascinated by it. You know, it's like those coffee tins chock full of nuts.
Starting point is 01:47:58 Well, this is just chock full of information. These 40 days. I am fascinated by those 40 days. I try to imagine what happened. I mean, most people just imagine, well, maybe they're out getting a tan or, you know, hanging out at the coffee bar or something like that. No, Jesus was active in those 40 days after the resurrection and leading up to his ascension? It was the master leadership, the ultimate master leadership development course.
Starting point is 01:48:35 A 40-day course taught by the master himself. Leadership for the church. He had to prepare, at that time, 11, the 11 apostles. He had to prepare them. He had to teach, at that time, 11, the 11 apostles. He had to prepare them. He had to teach them all the things that they needed to know about the kingdom of God. Things that he had not taught them during the three and a half years of ministry. Now, the question would be, well, why don't we know about the things he taught in those 40 days? I believe we do.
Starting point is 01:49:02 Yes. I believe the New Testament is what Jesus taught in those 40 days. That's your answer right there. Yes. What else do you need to know? What else besides what's in the New Testament? What other information is out there that you need to know? And Doc, it's possible that Jesus told things to the apostles that he said, this is for your personal information. Right. You're not to talk about this publicly. This is for you.
Starting point is 01:49:30 I'm teaching you things that the rest of the public is not prepared to handle. Right. But I'm teaching it to you. So you have the inner strength to complete your assignment because there's going to be great persecution against you and you're going to need to know how big is the kingdom of god right so the story doesn't end with the resurrection jesus said there is something even there's something important you need to know that goes beyond the resurrection the holy spirit's going to be arriving soon and you need to be prepared for that they weren't prepared for the reception of the holy spirit's going to be arriving soon and you need to be prepared for
Starting point is 01:50:05 that they weren't prepared for the reception of the holy spirit yet he had to teach them for 40 days and they had to wait yes for 10 days he gave them instruction in order to receive the holy spirit you can't have it without one without the other and and he specifically told them to stay in jerusalem he charged them it says and i think he told them that because he knew they were going to bolt. That's hard to imagine, isn't it? When we look in the book of Acts, we can't imagine them bolting, but he did charge them to stay. Forty days earlier, they had just nailed Jesus to the cross. The apostles were considered criminals.
Starting point is 01:50:54 They were considered rabble-rousers. They were people who would like to get their hands on them. And so Jesus said, you're going to go back into Jerusalem, and you're going to stay there until the holy spirit arrives and he had to tell them that because their nature as men was i'm going to go someplace safe i'm going to go back to the sea of galilee and fish i'm not going to go back there with those people but but he said no you have to go to Jerusalem and wait. Verse 3, To whom he also showed himself alive after his passion
Starting point is 01:51:30 by many proofs, appearing unto them by the space of 40 days and speaking the things concerning the kingdom of God. So after his suffering on the cross, Jesus appeared to many disciples over 40 days. His appearance was continual over 40 days, but not continuous, meaning I don't think he was with them 24-7 for 40 days. I think he appeared and disappeared over 40 days.
Starting point is 01:52:10 Right. I think the guys would just be cooking fish for a meal, and all of a sudden Jesus is standing there. Right. He says, okay, guys, we're going to have another lesson today. They didn't know when he was coming. They didn't know where he was going to appear. That was part of the fascination of
Starting point is 01:52:31 learning how great the Messiah is. But I believe over those 40 days, Jesus came and went, appeared and disappeared at his choosing. Remember, this is a man that could walk through walls. Right.
Starting point is 01:52:48 He wasn't limited by physical barriers. And he had to show, he had to show the apostles what a resurrected man looks like, how he behaves, how he comes and goes. And he had to teach them the greatness of his resurrection and the kingdom of God. But Luke says many proofs. I mean, not just, well, eyewitnesses or anything like that, but many proofs, as if it was an established fact that Jesus was resurrected and he was up and around for 40 days, talking to people, interacting with people, teaching people during those 40 days.
Starting point is 01:53:32 You know why there were many proofs? Because he had to prove over and over and over he was resurrected. Yes. Because human minds are negative and unbelieving. Even the people who were present with Jesus, they had trouble with unbelieving. Even the people who were present with Jesus, they had trouble with unbelief. They had trouble with negativity. There were many proofs
Starting point is 01:53:55 because he had to repeatedly prove he was resurrected. And the reason for that was if they did not fully, deeply believe and understand the resurrection, they could not fulfill the assignment to build the church. The church is built on the cross and the resurrection. And that's still true today because there are a lot of people that try to dismiss the resurrection. They try to throw it out.
Starting point is 01:54:22 A lot of seminaries try to throw out the resurrection. They'll believe that Jesus died throw it out. A lot of seminaries try to throw out the resurrection. They'll believe that Jesus died on a cross, but to believe that he rose from the dead three days and three nights later. And that he's still alive now. Right. That's a challenge for a lot of people. When I hear preachers and Bible teachers talking about Jesus in the past tense, I know that they know he's, they don't know that he's alive right now. When I hear preachers and teachers talk about the Holy Spirit as an it, I know that they don't know the Holy Spirit. Right.
Starting point is 01:54:52 He's not an it. Would you like me to call you an it? You're a person. The Holy Spirit is a person. But I hear preachers talking about it. Well, the thing on the Adams family was an it. The Holy Spirit is not a thing. It's not an it. He's the third person of the Trinity. And when people refer to the Holy Spirit as an it, I know that they don't know the Holy Spirit. Right. But for Luke to come out to Theophilus and say to him, listen, Jesus was resurrected. He was interacting with people. There are many proofs of this. He proved it over and over again. Over
Starting point is 01:55:37 a space of 40 days, he proved his resurrection. And so I'm reestablishing this with you, Theophilus, to let you know there's plenty of testimony to this. Rick, what is the significance, do you think, of 40 days in this particular case? Do you see a parallel anywhere else? 40 days shows up in other places in the Bible. Moses, Moses on Mount Sinai, 40 days. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness. So his 40 days in Galilee after the resurrection, there's a template, there's a parallel
Starting point is 01:56:18 in the scriptures about 40 days. So when Moses went up to the mountain and came down with the law, that was the beginning, if you will, of the old covenant, even though there was a covenant with Abraham prior to that. But the idea of the law at that point, you know, that was the 40 days there. And so now we have another 40 days with Jesus. That's kind of the bookend of that. Yes. Or the new beginning of a covenant. And he's giving that he's giving the apostles the commandments of the kingdom. That's right. Moses gave the commandments under the law. Jesus is giving us the commandments of the kingdom of God.
Starting point is 01:56:58 Doc, I wrestled for three minutes. I can't go into this. But for years and years and years, this schizophrenia, what do you do with the Old Testament commandments? And what do you do with the New Testament? And so many times I find Christians, and I did it for many years, trying to apply Old Testament laws and rules to the New Testament age. Right. And it never felt right. Well, the reason it didn't feel right is because it's not right.
Starting point is 01:57:31 Right. It's like getting, you know, refinancing the mortgage on your house. This is just the earthly, you know, picture. It doesn't give the full picture. But imagine refinancing the mortgage on your house and yet coming back to the bank months later and say, here's the old mortgage. I want you to apply these rules that we have. Well, the bank would just laugh you out because we rewrote it. No, you know, the old mortgage doesn't work for you anymore.
Starting point is 01:57:56 You're under a new mortgage. And so you're under a new covenant now, a new promise. Doc, we have to assume that what Jesus taught the apostles were, he taught them all the Old Testament prophecies about the Messiah. Right. And an example of that was on the road to Emmaus. Yes. He was revealing all the scriptures of what the prophets had to say about the Messiah. So we had to think that that continued as well. And certainly he taught them about true Israel, citizenship in the kingdom of God, that he was opening up Israel to the Gentiles,
Starting point is 01:58:32 and that there would no longer be Jew and Gentile. There would be one new race, humans saved and brought into the kingdom of God. He had to teach them the commandments of the kingdom. He prepared them for the persecution that they were going to suffer. Right. So the proof of the resurrection was the linchpin of the work that was going to be done. If they didn't believe, completely believe he was resurrected, they weren't going to be able to finish the task. Right.
Starting point is 01:59:11 They had to know that they knew, that they knew, that they knew, that they knew that Jesus was resurrected. And when he ascended to heaven, they knew that the resurrected Christ was taking his seat on David's throne in heaven and ruling and reigning through his church now. And it's not a thousand year kingdom. It's now he's ruling and reigning now in his church. Amen.
Starting point is 01:59:36 And that's why he's still doing deeds and still instructing and still doing miracles and signs and wonders. Still acting. He's still acting.'s still acting that's what it's all about hey if you like what i'm teaching i'd encourage you to get my book final day this is 10 characteristics of the second coming of jesus christ you can get it at amazon and is it will be sent out to you right away this This is it for our first two-hour program.
