Starting point is 00:01:07 America's Democratic Party insiders are in a state of shock and women who could replace Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as their party's nominees in 2024. Doc and I will spend most of today's true news discussing the debate and what it means for the weeks ahead. Before talking about the presidential campaign, I want to briefly go over some news about the bird flu virus and also World War III. So let's begin our analysis and commentary of national and international news with this report published today by London's Telegraph. U.S. to test dairy products, including ice cream and butter, for H5N1 bird flu virus. So they're moving this a little further down the line now, Rick. So U.S. authorities have begun a new round of testing to check for traces of H5N1 bird flu virus in supermarket products, including ice cream, butter, and cream cheese. We were just testing milk a few days ago. Now we're testing products made from milk.
Starting point is 00:02:36 So they better stay away from Blue Bell. Well, the FDA is set to survey 155 products sold in stores across America to check for the highly pathogenic bird flu virus, which continues to spread throughout the country's dairy cattle herds. Now, so far, the virus has spread to 131 cattle herds in 12 states and has infected at least three dairy workers since it was first detected in March. Mice, cats, possums and other farmyard animals have also been infected. Samples will be collected from products sold in stores, largely from chains like Walmart, Trader Joe's, and Kroger's across the country, including from states where the FDA has not yet conducted surveillance, the agency said.
Starting point is 00:03:20 If any samples test positive for the virus, further testing will be conducted to determine whether the virus is alive and capable of causing an infection in humans. Now, there's a process that takes place to produce these products, ice cream, butter, cream cheese. And you've already gone through the pasteurization process with the milk. They've already said they found virus in there, but not active, so you don't have to worry about it yet. But now they're checking these things. That means they have a suspicion the virus is going to show up in these products.
Starting point is 00:03:51 That means in the next two weeks, we're going to read articles that bird flu virus has been found in ice cream butter and cream cheese. They're just getting us ready. They're priming us for the news. That's right.
Starting point is 00:04:06 CBS News in California reporting San Mateo County farm workers to receive PPE clothing and gear amid H5N1 bird flu concerns. So personal protective equipment will be distributed to dairy and poultry farm workers in San Mateo County, California to protect against the bird flu virus, county health officials said Wednesday. According to the California Department of Public Health, the types of personal protective equipment that can be requested include air purifying respirators, N95 masks, gloves, goggles, face shields, and bouffant caps. And so it's beginning now, Rick. We've talked about this, that they were going to start doing full personal protective gear for dairy workers. I just had trouble imagining a Mennonite dairy farmer wearing a bouffant cap. But this is where we're going.
Starting point is 00:05:07 And their government agencies are now handing out the gear to farmers, saying, you're at risk. You could be exposed to a very serious virus. Where are we going to be by September, October, as we go into the presidential election? Will we be in lockdown status by then? That seems to be the direction we're going. I hope not.
Starting point is 00:05:36 But it seems to be a repeat of 2020. Des Moines Register headed to the county fair. Well, headed to the fair. It could be a state fair or county fair. Test your cows for bird flu virus, says Iowa's Ag Secretary. Now, once again, this has moved it just a little bit further down the road. They said just a couple of weeks ago, just to be aware, Rick, now they're saying you better test them. A bird flu outbreak among Iowa dairy cattle continues to increase. The Iowa Department of Agriculture has announced Tuesday it will be requiring testing of cows for the virus no sooner than a week before they are transported to fairs or shows.
Starting point is 00:06:12 They went to say that the department is issuing a statewide order effective the 1st of July that will require additional tests for the bird flu virus prior to dairy cattle participating at our state's many fairs and exhibitions. That's coming from Ag Secretary Mike Naig. He said, we want to strike a balance between allowing our 4-H, FFA, and dairy exhibitors the opportunity to show their animals while also additional testing to protect our livestock and minimize the potential spread of the virus. In other updates, Tuesday the department said that they were requiring testing of dairy herds within a 12.5-mile radius of bird flu outbreaks at poultry farms, with some farmers outside testing that circle, submitting tests from their herds already.
Starting point is 00:07:04 So you've got farmers volunteering tests in Iowa at this point. Now, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, their epidemiological strike teams are in Iowa right now conducting interviews and looking for links between bird flu cases at poultry and dairy farms and trying to better understand how the virus may have been introduced into the flocks and herds. And that research is expected to lead to biosecurity recommendations for farmers. Translated, they're going to lock the farmers down. USDA Wildlife Services is also assisting in the surveying of disease and wildlife around Iowa dairy and poultry farms to determine the degree to which the virus is present in
Starting point is 00:07:46 wildlife on these farms. That could also lead to new biosecurity measures as well, Rick. So, Doc, my knowledge of bird flu virus in the United States is limited to the articles that We've been reading for months. We've heard, we've read reports where bird flu virus has, in other countries, a 50% mortality rate. So one out of two people who get it die. That's not what's happening here in the United States. To my knowledge, there have been, I think, 13 farm workers infected with bird flu. And the worst symptom has been pinkeye.
Starting point is 00:08:36 And when it was first reported, it said, bleeding out their eyes. Yes. And I remember recoiling. Blood running down your cheeks? Because that's what Drudge had, blood, you know, bleeding out their eyes. Okay. Then you find out later they had pink eye. Right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:53 With the cattle, the dairy herds, from what I've read, the cattle had been sick for about five days. Okay. They have fever, low milk production. Okay. It seems to me that the media is whipping this up to be far more serious than it is. It is something to watch. There's no doubt about it. It needs to to watch. There's no doubt about it. Right. It needs to be watched.
Starting point is 00:09:41 But if dairy cattle are sick for five days, then a smart farmer who cares about his cattle and obviously cares about his business is going to segregate the sick cattle. Right. Doesn't have to be ordered. You don't need a SWAT team coming in no it's common sense for a farmer sense move the cattle to another pen until they're over their sickness keep them away from the the cattle that are well yes and wait out five days. It's a voluntary lockdown of the cattle by the farmer. It's just common sense. Likewise, the workers, if they are exposed to a cattle, a cow that's sick, and they get some symptoms, then the farm worker or the farmer or if it's a
Starting point is 00:10:26 farm worker simply does the same thing. Self-isolation. You don't go around other people and you wait it out for four or five days until it's over. Why are we whipping this up into a global pandemic? Because we need to. Because there's an election and a pandemic treaty. Yes. So right now, this is not a crisis.
Starting point is 00:10:54 If it's getting into the milk supply, it is because the sick cattle have not been segregated, isolated, taken out of the production process. But this isn't very complicated. I mean, I've milked cows before. It's been a long time, but this isn't real complicated to me. You just segregate the cows, put them in isolation until they're well and then you you move them back into the herd right it's basic agriculture but the media and the government are whipping this up into a an apocalyptic nightmare scenario. And we're handing out protective gear. And we're talking about
Starting point is 00:11:48 locking down farms. Right. And we're going to have social distancing between cows. You wait. That's coming. Farmers are going to be ordered to have social distancing.
Starting point is 00:12:04 I wouldn't doubt they have come up with masks for cows, too. Well, it would be like churches. You know, you could only have one person every 10 feet or whatever it was. And you couldn't sing. And you couldn't sing, so the cows won't be able to moo, and they'll have to be separated by, you know, 10 feet. These regulations will come into effect by people who have never been on a farm in their life. Right. And none of this has to happen. What we need are people that have experience on farms and agriculture background. Like farmers. Like farmers and come up with a plan and say you know what we're going to get this
Starting point is 00:12:45 under control and we're not going to terrify the country. You don't have to think the world is ending tomorrow to be realistic. Starting point is 00:13:25 Visit our website and become prepared today. Making sure that we're able to make every single solitary person eligible for what I've been able to do with the COVID, excuse me, with dealing with everything we have to do with, look, if we finally beat Medicare. Thank you, President Biden. President Trump.
Starting point is 00:13:52 OK, so that was that moment. Yes. He was off to a good start. And then towards the end, he started mumbling. Right. And he starts talking about beating Medicare. I didn't know we were in a war with Medicare. Right. And he starts talking about beating Medicare. I didn't know we were in a war with Medicare. Right. And so President Trump was
Starting point is 00:14:08 looking over at him like, this is sad. You know, the one thing President Trump was very good at last night is that he refrained from slamming Joe Biden because that would have looked
Starting point is 00:14:24 cruel. Right. If that would have looked cruel. If he would have said – if President Trump would have rolled his eyes and said, Joe, you're senile, that would have – the public then would have swung the other way. Against Donald Trump. Against Donald Trump and defended – it would be like, hey, you're picking on my granddad right now. You're picking on my great uncle. Don't do that. But instead, President Trump handled it well and never, never took advantage of any of these moments with Joe Biden. Which he could have. He could have, but he just, Donald Trump knew that the American people were seeing it. He didn't have to say anything. You Democrats, and I'm including the news media, you ran a deceptive propaganda campaign for several years covering up Joe Biden's mental decline.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Everybody knew it. Everybody has seen it. It's not a secret. It didn't just happen last night. This is my view. My speculation. I have no proof. I want to
Starting point is 00:15:36 make sure so my enemies that start cutting the video clips for social media say I predict. No, no, no. This is my own hunch. I said weeks ago that if Joe Biden went through with the debate, which he did last night, he was being set up by his own people. To fail.
Starting point is 00:16:04 To fail. To fail. Nobody who supports Joe Biden, nobody who's close to him would have encouraged him to do a debate. Nobody would have allowed him to do it. Doc, I have never in my lifetime seen a pre-convention debate. Oh, that is true.
Starting point is 00:16:28 That was unusual. That is true. A pre-convention debate. I hadn't thought about that. Debates are always after the two nominating conventions. I have never seen the two prospective nominees debate before they're nominated. That's true. It was a setup, my view.
Starting point is 00:16:49 And I believe the chief setter-upper was Barack Obama, the man who speaks through the earpiece. The man who said years ago, if I could have a third term, I would talk through an earpiece. Yes. Okay.
