Starting point is 00:00:59 and intensity he is moving to implement his campaign promises. His opponents thought they would have more time to resist like they did in 2017. This is true news for Monday, February 3rd, 2025. Let's begin our analysis and commentary of today's news with this ex-tweet by neocon Republican Bill Kristol, who is now openly publicly saying what he always said privately. And it is this. The deep state is far more preferable to the Trump state. Doc, they're finally saying it. First of all, they're admitting that there is a deep state. They're admitting that there is a deep state and they're admitting that there is a deep state, and they're admitting that they like it.
Starting point is 00:01:46 Yes. Because it is them. And the people that hang out with Bill Kristol, they like it too. That's right. And so they're in a state of shock. The weekend, I don't even know where to begin with this. The main story we're going to talk about here today is what happened at the U.S. aid agency, which is the federal government agency that dispenses federal foreign aid
Starting point is 00:02:17 around the world. The official title is United States Agency for International Development. Right. The aid part of it just is coincidence. Yes. It has a political purpose. Well, Elon Musk, who's in charge of DOGE, this government efficiency, it's really a commission. There's no agency called DOGE. It's really a board, a commission. He's an advisor to the president.
Starting point is 00:02:46 But Mr. Trump has given him a blank check and said, go find the waste in the government and let's clean it up. This is what Elon Musk tweeted on his platform. X, we spent the weekend feeding USAID into the wood chipper. Could have gone to some great parties, did that instead. Yes. Over the weekend, they put a federal agency into the wood chipper. They carried away, they took the photos off the wall. They took the photos off the wall they took they took the logo down they they literally stripped
Starting point is 00:03:27 the agency over the weekend and there have been some reports uh mike bins is one of those uh reporters that uh said this is that elon musk team has been camping out at usa headquarters i mean they've been sleeping there. Having their meals there. Over the weekend. Yes. Since Friday, they've been there. That's his style. Because he sleeps at his office. That's nothing new. And he's like one of these 24-hour shift type of guys. Right. And he said, Musk also said, while others are taking the weekend off, we're working.
Starting point is 00:04:08 And this is what we're doing. Well, obviously, the Democrats are in a state of shock. Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin, who was a key leader in both of the Trump impeachment witch hunts, went before reporters today. This is some video from C-SPAN. He's declaring war on Elon Musk and Donald Trump and saying that the Democrats are not going to allow Elon Musk to dismantle this federal agency. Let's watch. Elon Musk, you didn't create U.S. aid. the United States Congress did for the American people. And just like Elon Musk did not create USAID, he doesn't have the power to destroy it.
Starting point is 00:04:57 And who's going to stop him? We are. We're going to stop him! Elon Musk, you may have illegally seized power over the financial payment systems of the United States Department of Treasury, but you don't control the money of the American people. The United States Congress does that under Article 1 of the Constitution. And just like the president who is elected to something cannot impound the money of the people,
Starting point is 00:05:38 we don't have a fourth branch of government called Elon Musk. And that's going to become real clear. Thanks here, Doc. Mr. Raskin said the USAID agency was created for the American people. That's not true. It was created to give money away. It was created to take money from the American people and give it to foreigners. You got it. Yes, I'm good. It wasn't made for the American people. That's right. Gazillions of dollars have flown over decades into corrupt governments. And the only authority Congress has over USAID is the money. That's the only. The appropriation of funds.
Starting point is 00:06:17 That's the only thing they have because USAID is part of the executive branch. It's accountable to the Secretary of State. It has always been, even though for the past couple of administrations, it's kind of functioned independently, like its own government in a lot of ways. But Jamie Raskin needs to read up on the Constitution. Well, the other thing is, I guess he's forgotten that the Democrats are in the minority. Yes. They don't control the House. They don't control the House. They don't control the Senate.
Starting point is 00:06:45 They don't control the White House. Guess what? You can't do anything. All you can do is stand outside and bark. That's all. You can bark. That's all you can do. NBC News, USAID personnel told to stay away from D.C. headquarters
Starting point is 00:06:58 after Elon Musk shut down comments. The deeper we go into this, you're going to realize why we are starting today's true news talking about a foreign aid agency, because there are some accusations, Doc, that are mind-boggling. By the way, last year during the campaign when I ran for Congress, that was one of my promises if I was elected to Congress. Shut down all foreign aid. Shut down the USAID agency.
Starting point is 00:07:31 I'm glad they're implementing my campaign. It's happening. That's why you ran, Rick. You're already affecting policy. I did propose that. Let's get rid of this stuff. Let's shut it down. What I said last year is that we borrow money from foreign lenders so that we can give it away to foreign beggars. Wow.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Yeah. You got it. All right. And that was part of my campaign last year. Well, let's see what the NBC is saying. They're saying that employees of the United States Agency for International Development, based out of the nation's capital, were ordered overnight not to come to the office on Monday, but work from home. Yeah, we have an actual memo itself here. And so this is what people were receiving last night into this morning. To all personnel at the direction of agency leadership, the USAID headquarters at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington,
Starting point is 00:08:26 will be closed to agency personnel on Monday, February 3rd. Agency personnel normally assigned to work at USAID headquarters will work remotely tomorrow, which is today, with the exception of personnel with essential on-site and building maintenance functions individually contacted by senior leadership. Further guidance will be forthcoming. Doc, in my entire lifetime, I've never seen this happen. Oh, I'm— Ever. I'm so happy on this one.
Starting point is 00:08:55 I have never, ever seen any government official shut down a government agency and say, we're going to audit the books and see where the money's going. Because that's what this is about. Yes. There are stories, if it turns out to be true, that agencies that were, you know, funds were supposed to be cut off years ago. The checks have still been going every month.
Starting point is 00:09:27 To terrorist groups. To terrorist groups, yes. To terrorist groups. I think what they've located is part of the deep state money laundering operation. Absolutely, yes. And I think that's what they're on to. So let's go a little deeper in here. This is NBC.
Starting point is 00:09:47 This is a quote. Well, that's from the article. The next one is CNN. Apocalypse at USAID as Musk and Trump work to dismantle the agency. Now, they've changed the headline. Okay. You notice now Rubio announces he's acting director of USAID. Yes. That happened later in the morning. Right. But when I saw it, it said apocalypse. The end of the world, Doc. It was the end of the world. It was an apocalypse.
Starting point is 00:10:19 Yes. Deep state apocalypse. What's happened here is that Donald Trump has appointed Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the acting director of USAID. So Mr. Rubio is going to make the decisions whether the people go to work tomorrow or stay home. And I don't think they're going to go into work tomorrow. I think the Trump team is looking at where the money went, and they're doing a forensic investigation. They're not going to let people back into the crime scene. They might as well put yellow tape around the building. Yeah, that's true. Okay?
Starting point is 00:10:58 So this is what CNN said. In Washington, USAID's headquarters closed for the day. Employees told to remain home. It said that at its website, its social media accounts have gone dark, replaced with a reduced version of its webpage on the State Department's website, it is the apocalypse, said one U.S. aid official. I'm glad they're getting religion. They are today. The Doge personnel, this is where this gets really sticky. The Doge personnel wanted to gain access to U.S. aid security systems and personnel files, said three sources.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Two of the sources said Doge personnel wanted to access classified documents, which only those with security clearances and a specific need to know are able to access. Three sources told CNN that in the end, Doge personnel were eventually able to access the headquarters. Katie Miller, whom Donald Trump named to Doge in December, appeared on Sunday to confirm that Doge personnel had accessed classified information. Doc, well, they can't use the Justice Department to indict Trump because he's in charge of the Justice Department. You see where I'm going? That they would turn around and say, oh, you're looking at classified material.
Starting point is 00:12:33 We've got to put you in prison. But Katie Miller said that there was no classified information that was accessed without proper security clearances, she said. Well, look at this next line. USAID workers were also informed last week that the agency's Google Drive is now accessible from the State Department. Which, that means it wasn't before. It wasn't accessible, but classified information is on a Google Drive? That should scare you.
Starting point is 00:13:04 When I read that it's like what are you talking you're talking about we can't let anybody see these documents who don't have top security clearance and yet you got them on Google
Starting point is 00:13:14 you got them on G drive oh okay it's secure nobody at Google would look one aid worker said we've been officially informed that the U.S. Department of State now has access to all our internal documents and our entire suite of files, documents, everything, all of our systems. What is Trump and Musk looking for? The dirt. The dirt.
Starting point is 00:13:42 Yes. There's something that they know that money was laundered through the USAID agency. And they didn't let anyone in on this. Now, we've got two clips here, but if you don't mind, we'll flip them around here. No, go ahead. Do whatever you want to do. We'll do number eight first because Mr. Trump had this to say last night as he was returning back to D.C. So, number eight for control, this is from Fox News.
Starting point is 00:14:07 This is President Trump responding to everything that was happening at the USAID headquarters over the weekend. USAID, what's going on there? Well, it's been run by a bunch of radical lunatics, and we're getting them out. USAID, run by radical lunatics, and we're getting them out. USAID, run by radical lunatics, and we're getting them out, and then we'll make a decision. And then earlier this afternoon, about an hour or so ago, he responded to a question regarding USAID as well, and this is his remarks this afternoon. Number seven. Why is it important for Elon Musk to have access to the
Starting point is 00:14:46 payment systems at Treasury? Well, he's got access only to letting people go that he thinks are no good if we agree with him. And it's only if we agree with him. He's a very talented guy from the standpoint of management and costs. And we put him in charge of seeing what he can do with certain groups and certain numbers. The numbers, some of the numbers are horrible. What he's found a hundred. Think of it. A hundred million dollars on condoms to Hamas, condoms to Hamas and many other things that are frankly even more ridiculous. And they're finding tremendous waste, really waste more than anything else, I think you could say.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Probably fraud and abuse could be added to it. The more standard waste, fraud and abuse. Okay. If – how am I going to say this? If Hamas spent $100 million on condoms, they wouldn't have time to fight the Israelis. I don't know how else to say it. Donald Trump was exaggerating the numbers just a little bit. It was only $50 million. $50 million. But look, it didn't go to condoms. It went to finance Hamas. of course it did i mean and i've been saying this for several years that that the israel and the united states
Starting point is 00:16:15 and other agencies financed hamas for the purpose of having a boogeyman to attack so that Israel would be justified in demolishing Gaza. And there were some posts over the weekend that showed Hamas taking condoms and making balloons out of them to send fire, I think. Well, I'm telling you, they didn't use $50 million for the condoms for that. And they didn't use $50 million for the condoms for that. And they didn't use $50 million for the condoms. That's just, you know, that's just the cover story anyway. So now a lot of you may be, and I don't know if you want to go into this or not, but journalist Mike Benz has been really covering the story pretty hard for a long, long time about USAID. He's gone after Samantha Powers several times. She ran it just, you know, during the Biden administration. He's gone after Samantha Powers several times. She ran it just during the Biden administration.
Starting point is 00:17:07 That's right. And so I found a video where Mike Benz explains how USAID was able to move this money around. And it's a little over three minutes long. Oh, let's watch. It's a great presentation and really simplifies what happened because when people say, well, USAID and money going here and there, they get all confused about it. Mike does a great job laying this out. It's got animations and everything. So let's watch this, and you'll have a better understanding of how this boondoggle has been going on the past three decades.
Starting point is 00:17:41 So what is USAID? When people hear the name USAID, they focus on aid. They focus on thinking like it's humanitarian work. But aid is not actually in the name of USAID. USAID stands for the United States Agency for International Development. Not aid. It's not a charity. And international development is simply capacity building. It is local and regional capacity building done across the whole world, i.e. internationally. The primal id in USAID, international development, is about capacity building of assets that can be used by either the Pentagon, the State Department, or the CIA for their own activities. So if you're the Secretary of State and you were asked by the
Starting point is 00:18:22 National Security Council or the President to do something in a different country, overthrow their government, stop the passage of a bill in a foreign country's legislature. How would you do that? And the first thing that I said is you would look at the assets that already exist in the country. Do we need new assets in addition to the ones that we currently have or are the existing assets, can they achieve this simply by giving them enough money, giving them enough resources, giving them enough training, giving them enough support? One of the main ways that that capacity building would be financed would be through USAID. USAID would say that it's doing something, funding a hospital system, funding universities, funding civil society organizations, funding media institutions, funding independent media in the region. Sorry,
Starting point is 00:19:06 it's something in my eye. Independent media in the region on USAID payroll. And those institutions, those assets would then be bigger and more powerful and more capable, capacity, more capable of serving the State Department's goal, aka advancing U.S. national interests. USAID has a bigger budget than the State Department, over $ interests. USAID has a bigger budget than the State Department, over $50 billion. It is a bigger budget than the CIA. The entire intelligence community only has about $72 billion. So that's the CIA plus the 16 others. And USAID has a bigger budget than the CIA and is almost the size of the entire intelligence community combined. That is how important USAID is to American statecraft. It is an intelligence
Starting point is 00:19:46 community, a state department, and a Pentagon assistance organization rolled into one. I just copied this from the USAID website. USAID carries out U.S. foreign policy, advances U.S. national interests by promoting broad-scale human progress. At the same time, it expands stable, free societies, creates markets, and trade partners for the United States, it expands stable, free societies, creates markets and trade partners for the United States and fosters goodwill abroad. The operative phrases here are carries out U.S. foreign policy. This is not charity work. This is not aid. This is cynical, self-serving purposes. And what is it seeking to do? Free societies, open societies. Why does USAID want other countries to be open societies? Because that's how you get the influence in.
Starting point is 00:20:28 If a country is a closed society, they're closed off from USAID influence. We cannot capacity build our assets there. Closed societies box USAID out. China is a closed society. That is why we have not been able to topple the government of China, despite having tried for a hundred years now almost. We have not been able to topple the government of China, despite having tried for 100 years now almost. We have not been able to topple Putin from Russia. Why? Because Russia is a closed society.
Starting point is 00:20:50 Like China, they kicked USAID out. It is not an open society. And so the USAID can't just take over their entire media ecosystem by funding 100 different media propaganda outlets in the region to sway hearts and minds. And remember, that's what this is. It's hearts and minds and cash. That's what Soft Power is. They call it hearts and minds work, but it's cash that does the moving of those hearts and minds, especially of the leaders of the movements. Now, it gets a bit more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it right there. And the name of George Soros' foundation, Open Society Foundation.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Yes. Do you think they work together? Oh, USAID has given directly to Open Society Foundation for the purposes of hearts and minds. Yes. And George Soros' foundation has also been kicked out of countries. Yes. Like Hungary. We get back to our headlines.
Starting point is 00:21:48 This is number 10 NBC News. USAID security leaders removed after refusing Elon Musk's Doge employees access to secure systems. They actually, I mean, removed some senior officials over the weekend. There was a showdown. Right. NBC said the U.S. Agency for International Development director of security and his deputy were placed on administrative leave Saturday after they tried to prevent employees from Doge from accessing secure usa systems uh the systems that doge tried to access included personnel files and security systems including classified systems beyond the security level of some of the doge employees according to three of the sources uh and then we have this uh
Starting point is 00:22:43 well we mentioned this earlier katie katie Miller, she said there was no classified material taken. We get down to number 12. Musk, now this one, you can't find this anywhere in the United States. It's published by any of the legacy media. Just like last week, the audio released by on the LBJ killing of Kennedy. Right.
Starting point is 00:23:17 Billy Searostis, his grandson. You can't find that audio anywhere. Nobody mentioned it. It implicates the president of the United States. Well, it implicated the Vice President in killing the President. Can I share something with you? I received messages from several people over the weekend saying,
Starting point is 00:23:34 why aren't you guys playing anything of the LBJ tapes? And I have to, did you even watch the God cast last week? Yes, we covered this. And acting like we were just completely glossing over it. I know, I know. I've gotten that for years. So. What would, oh, well, the other one that's always bothered me to talk is we would reveal something,
Starting point is 00:23:54 and then days later, people would be contacting me saying, hey, you got to see what so-and-so in his podcast is talking about. Take a look at this. And he's referencing us. He got it from us. Anyhow, that story that we just showed you you can't find you can't find it in the united states musk called usa a criminal organization that could have funded research on biological weapons including covet 19 now you know why the legacy news media, the dinosaur media, will not touch this story. They're terrified. There's something in those files, Doc.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Donald Trump is going after, he's following the money trail. Right. And he's going to, I think he's going to burst it wide open and show the whole world. I think his plan is, I'm going to show you the ugly face of that thing that tried to destroy me. I'm going to show you how deeply criminal it is, how deeply evil it is. And I'm going to show you the things that they were doing if this is true that aid was us aid was funding biological weapons in other countries including the development of covet we've got a scandal brewing that is so big, Doc. And if you put that on top of LBJ ordering the assassination of Kennedy, I mean, by the end of this year. Well, by the end of this month, the Democrat Party will be dead.
Starting point is 00:25:35 The deep state will be dead, or at least this version of it will be dead. I mean, that's how fast things are happening. We saw an entire agency shut down over the weekend. You will see people fleeing the country. Now, if we could do number 14 first, because this is where Elon Musk calls this criminal organization. He posted this on X over the weekend. He said, USAID is a criminal organization. He says, time for it to die.
Starting point is 00:26:03 And one of the reasons, and we'll go back up to 13 here for control. Look at this, Rick. Did you know that USAID, using your tax dollars, funded bioweapon research, including COVID-19, that killed millions of people? Now, Musk, by posting that, opens himself up to all sorts of legal consequences if what he's saying is untrue. That's right. But I have no reason not to believe it. I believe that it did happen. And in fact, I think even Rand Paul cornered Samantha Powers about it at one time and said, did money go to the Wuhan lab?
Starting point is 00:26:44 He said, no, no money went directly to the Wuhan lab. He said, but did it go to EcoHealth Alliance? Yes. Yes, it did go to EcoHealth Alliance. And what did they do with the money? They might have sent the money to Wuhan. Well, what's the difference? It's money laundering. That's right. And that implicates Fauci. It will directly implicate Fauci in the development of COVID-19. Right. So we'll get down to...
Starting point is 00:27:14 And we can do number 16 as well. Yeah, let's look at 16. And this is where he's responding. So what he was responding to when he made that statement before is another person on Twitter. USAID funneled $53 million to EcoHealth Alliance, just like I was mentioning, then used U.S. taxpayer funds to support gain-of-function research in Wuhan that led to the creation of COVID-19. Okay. Now, the next one is an audio. This is Elon Musk appearing on a podcast? No,
Starting point is 00:27:46 he did an X-BASE last night. So basically, it's like an open audio. And so he made this statement last night on X-BASE's late Sunday evening as he was talking to close to a million people. X is the new media, Rick. He said this, nearly a million people were tuned in listening to him. Let's listen to what he had to say regarding bioweapon research by USAID. In order for us to be a true democracy, a functioning democracy, the government must be responsive to the people. That's literally what democracy means. However, when you have a vast unelected bureaucracy that is not answerable to the people. That's literally what democracy means. However, when you have a vast unelected bureaucracy that is not answerable to the public, and if the elected officials, if the president,
Starting point is 00:28:31 the people in Congress and the Senate, if they don't have the power to affect the bureaucracy, and it's actually extremely difficult to affect the bureaucracy, then you do not have rule of the people. You do not have democracy. you have rule of the bureau, bureaucracy. And this is obviously wrong, it is unconstitutional, and it is imperative, therefore, that we return power to the people of the country and not have tyranny of the bureaucracy, which we most definitely have had to follow to a degree that is absurd. It's not just that there's an unconstitutional fourth branch of the government, but it is arguably the most powerful branch of the government.
Starting point is 00:29:13 It's going to be interesting to see how long Mr. Musk and Mr. Trump are allowed to continue doing this without some serious pushback like this what's at stake here is the survival of the deep stake yes i mean their survival they're hunting them down right now yes they're literally elon musk and donald trump are hunting them down they're going to bring them to justice i never thought i'd see this happen i i was skeptical and yeah i was skeptical that it would ever happen i am amazed i'm stunned they are actually doing it i've never seen anybody elected president who has actually gone after corruption and waste in the government at this with this kind of intensity uh number 18 we mentioned this earlier this is a marco rubio made the acting director of usa mainly because
Starting point is 00:30:14 the entire leadership of usa were fired yes were dismissed uh but it puts uh it puts a trump appointee in charge of the agency so he can issue memos. Yes. He can cover Elon Musk and Doge because he issues the memos and says, I order you to give access to Elon Musk's team. Right. Or appoint someone to do that. That's right. Now, this wasn't the top officials of USA weren't the only people who were packing. CNBC reporting Trump names Treasury Secretary Scott Besant as acting head of the CFPB, which is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Starting point is 00:31:01 So they fired another person. Yes. And so the new Treasury Secretary is now running that agency. This may be a pattern that we're going to see, Doc. Trump is going to fire people and then appoint his cabinet to be the acting director. Right. So these agencies aren't acting independently anymore. They've been reined back in. Or maybe even eliminated. And not destroying records. Right.
Starting point is 00:31:31 That's the dangerous thing, that they destroy the records. Okay. That's why they raided USAID over the weekend. Yes. They caught them by surprise. So they couldn't destroy records. Right. And they had to go after the big dog.
Starting point is 00:31:46 They couldn't go after like some other smaller agency out there. I was shocked when I started hearing the news reports on Friday that this was going down and then really see it happening over the weekend. At first, you know, you start hearing the news. You're like, hmm, all right, I'll believe it when I see it. But now it looks like it's actually happening i i couldn't be happier about i hope they shut it completely down well it's not just to shut it down it's what they're going to find the big story in this is not the shutting down
Starting point is 00:32:17 of the agency it's the opening up of the agency's financial records that's the big story because i i've heard that there are records of payments going back decades yes to corrupt organizations corrupt governments agencies that don't even exist anymore yes so who's getting that money it was a money laundering operation now the democrats they gathered over the weekend and they chose a new leader of the democratic national committee he's from minnesota he's a close associate of uh tim waltz and so here you see democrats pick minnesota's ken martin as a new chair they don't say chairman as the new chair as the party grapples with the trump flurry of actions now this is the man i'm going to show you in a moment i'm going to show you in a moment the man who is going to lead the democratic opposition to donald trump tell me when you see this video
Starting point is 00:33:28 tell me how much fear do you think will be in donald trump when he sees this video here it is That's the new Democratic leader. And I hate to say it, he was the most sane of the candidates that they selected. Did you see some of the video of some of the other candidates? No. David Hogg was one of them. He was running for the chair. I think, didn't he get the vice chairman? He did get the vice chair.
Starting point is 00:34:00 But some of these other candidates, they did poetry readings, interpretive dance. There were massive arguments over deciding how many candidates should be allowed to run based on gender. There was a big discussion about it. And they were going back and forth. It's over. They're over, Dr. Oh, my goodness. It was such a train wreck. The Democratic Party's over. It's finished. They don't even know it.
Starting point is 00:34:29 They're so insane, so irrelevant, they don't even know it. That dancing. Ken Martin. He's the leader. Yes. That was the best they could come up with. That was the best. Trump is not worried.
Starting point is 00:34:43 He'll have 10 more agencies dismantled before Ken makes another dancing video. Reuters. Trump orders creation of U.S. sovereign wealth fund. Says it could buy TikTok. Okay, I don't like this one. Yes. Now, he did sign this executive order today, ordering the Treasury and Commerce Departments to create a sovereign wealth fund and said it may purchase TikTok, as the headline says. We're going to stand this thing up within the next 12 months.
Starting point is 00:35:12 We're going to monetize the asset side of the U.S. balance sheet for the American people. There will be a combination of liquid assets, assets we have in this country as we work to bring them out for the American people. He had floated this idea before as a candidate. Okay, so a lot of nations have sovereign wealth funds. What is it? It's an investment fund. The investment capital comes from the tax money of the government. Right. So the government is investing tax money into private enterprise.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Right. And becoming a partial owner. What Mr. Trump is proposing is that the United States have its own sovereign wealth fund, just like France and Saudi Arabia. Just because they have them doesn't make them right. I don't like this idea. So what Mr. Trump is proposing is that the U.S. government will own 50% of TikTok. Now, I understand where he's saying here
Starting point is 00:36:22 we're going to monetize the asset side of the U.S. balance sheet for the American people. It'll be a combination of liquid assets, assets that we have in this country. Yeah, all that on paper looks good. But let me tell you, back in the day, Doc, we called this fascism. Yes. This is fascism yes this is fascism when a government owns all or part of a corporation it's fascism and if if if the federal government can own 50 percent of tiktok and And what did they do? They passed a national law that ordered the owner of TikTok.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Was it ByteDance? Yes. They ordered ByteDance to divest, sell the company. It was a national law that said, we're ordering you to do it. You don't have a choice.
Starting point is 00:37:22 Sell or go out of business. And now, now that that law has passed, now the federal government is saying, not only are you going to sell it, you're going to sell half of it to the U.S. federal government that ordered you to sell it. Now, what was the basis for forcing ByteDance to sell TikTok? What was the reason? It could be privately, secretly owned by the communist China government. And that they would be collecting that data and that information from TikTok. And going in government servers. On all the casserole recipes and everything that are being posted on TikTok. That's right.
Starting point is 00:38:02 So does that change when the United States becomes the owner of it? It just means the data will go to Utah. Instead of Beijing. So keep that in mind, folks. Here's the other thing you need to think about. You've got to think about this. Rand Paul's right on this issue. If the U.S. government can order a privately owned company to sell and then order them to sell half of it to the U.S. government, then the U.S. government can do that to any corporation, including your company.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Any company in the world. They could do it to anybody. Yes. They simply pass a law and say you have to sell it, and you have to sell half of it to the U.S. government. That's how you – look, this is a Mussolini dream. And put it this way, TikTok, whatever your opinion of it is, it's a speech platform. You may not agree with the speech, but the fact of the matter is it's a speech platform. You may not agree with the speech, but the fact of the matter is the speech platform.
Starting point is 00:39:08 Rand Paul approaches it from a free speech perspective. Would you want the U.S. government to own half of the New York Times? Would you want the U.S. government to own half of the Wall Street Journal? This is where we're going.
Starting point is 00:39:23 Yes, that's the argument. Would Elon Musk want to be told you have to sell half of X? wall street journal this is where we're going yes that's the argument would donald would elon musk want to be told you have to sell half of x to the federal government half of tesla half of star lake because this is where this is leading yes where someday the u.s government owns half of everything. And once they have that, the next step is, well, take the other half too. And now you've gone from fascism to full communism. This is not good. But you can see the direction that our country is going on going in here's uh president trump uh on
Starting point is 00:40:06 fox news talking about setting up this uh sovereign wealth fund to buy tick tock next this is an executive order this charges your secretary of the treasury scott besant and your secretary of commerce howard lutnik to begin a process that will hopefully result in the creation of an American sovereign wealth fund. It's a very exciting event. We're going to have a sovereign wealth fund, which we've never had. We have a lot of things that create wealth. And you've seen that over the last two weeks. I think we've created more wealth.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Other people have created de-wealth. The people, my predecessorscessors we're creating a lot of wealth uh scott maybe you'd like to say something about it and i'd ask also howard to say something about it yes sir this is very exciting we're going to stand this thing up within the next 12 months we are going to monetize the asset side of the US balance sheet for the American people. We are going to put the assets to work. And I think it's going to be very exciting.
Starting point is 00:41:16 We're going to study best practices that's done around the world. It'll be a combination of liquid assets, assets that we have in this country as we work to bring them out for the American people. So the U.S. government is going to take, say, the gold in Fort Knox. Right. And now it's part of the sovereign wealth fund. Right. So could you risk, aren't you risk losing it? Yeah. I mean, if it's an investment, there's always a risk, right? That's what I mean. So they're going to take assets of the U.S. government and put them on the balance sheet of this sovereign wealth fund and say, this is how much money the wealth fund has to invest. Now, not only will we be practicing this American fascism here, we're going to be doing it worldwide.
Starting point is 00:42:09 Most of it's going to be done in other countries. Which is hey, sell half of that factory to us. Nothing bad will happen.
Starting point is 00:42:25 Nothing bad will happen to you. That's like the mafia coming in here too and saying, hey, you're going to sign over half your garage to us. You understand? Why would I do that? Because you don't want like an accident to happen, right? Or a fire. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:40 This is a big deal because it also gives the administration the power to borrow against that fund, too. So it opens a whole new avenue for borrowing, which Donald Trump, he's big on debt. He likes to borrow. I don't feel good about it. That's my opinion. Maybe I should just analyze and not comment anymore. I thought about that over the weekend. We've always done analysis and commentary.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Right. It's my commentary that gets me in trouble. It's not my analysis. Your analysis is spot on. I think your commentary is spot on, too. Yes, but it's the commentary that— But I might be alone in that. Not everybody appreciates my commentary.
Starting point is 00:43:29 They can handle the analysis. It's when you give your opinion of what is going on that I get in trouble. Maybe I should just stick with analysis and not comment anymore because there are things happening that I just don't like. Let's talk tariffs now. Yes, tariffs. This was a big day for tariffs. Wall Street Journal, this was moving so fast today that our program for today was changing by the hour. Yes. for today was changing by the hour. So Trump's move to put tariff hikes ahead of tax cuts
Starting point is 00:44:08 has spooked almost everybody. I'm not going to go into this because a lot has changed since this was published this morning. But the gist of it is that Wall Street investors and economists and others were saying, if these tariffs go into effect, you're going to have another round of inflation, which is true. Now, Mr. Trump is playing hardball. I mean, aggressive hardball.
Starting point is 00:44:44 This is one of the most aggressive people I've ever seen in life. I can't imagine being in a, say, $500 million real estate deal with him. You know, in terms of negotiating with him. Right. He is so aggressive that you would be leaving the room in your underwear because his style is extreme aggression, right? And he wins. And I believe that what he's doing here with,
Starting point is 00:45:18 hey, we're going to take Canada. I mean, he was saying it again today. Oh, yeah, he said it in the executive order signing. Yes. We're going to take Greenland. We're going to take Greenland. We're going to take Panama Canal. I think what he's doing is that he's staking out the most extreme, radical position you could ever imagine and putting everybody in a state of shock. And then they capitulate and give him what he wants.
Starting point is 00:45:47 And he goes, okay, I'm not going to invade. But he got what he wanted. All right. And you know who he learned that from? Roy Cohn. Yes. He says so. His tribal attorney, Roy Cohn.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Cohn. Not C not Cohen, but Cohen. So I think that's the approach that he's doing with these tariffs. But the president of Mexico, over the weekend, she's going to stand up and fight. And then today she capitulated. She's sending 10,000 Mexican troops to the border to protect the border. Where were they yesterday? Donald
Starting point is 00:46:31 Trump hadn't intervened yet. But as far as Canada is concerned, Canada's tariffs are still on. Yes, and the Canadian leaders are really getting fired up. Here's CTV News.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Ontario rips up $100 million Starlink contract ahead of the U.S. tariffs. How's that going to go over when Canadians don't get their Internet? Canadians aren't going to like that? They're not going to like it at all. Okay. These guys are blowing smoke right now. This is Ontario Premier Doug Ford saying he's going to rip up the Starlink contract. Let's watch.
Starting point is 00:47:30 U.S.-based businesses will now lose out on tens of billions of dollars in new revenues. They only have President Trump to blame. We've gone one step further. We'll be ripping up our contract with Elon Musk's Starlink. Ontario won't do business with people hell-bent on destroying our economy. I'm going to jump down to number 29. This is President Trump, this is Fox News, President Trump talking about the Canadian tariffs and also saying, is this one where he says we still want Canada?
Starting point is 00:48:09 Oh, he says that today. He said that today, all right. So let's watch 29. This is from last night. Are you planning to increase the tariffs against Canada? Well, it could happen. If they do anything, we will. Canada's been very abusive of the United States for many years.
Starting point is 00:48:26 They don't allow our banks. Did you know that Canada does not allow banks to go in? If you think about it, that's pretty amazing. If we have a U.S. bank, they don't allow them to go in. Canada has been very tough on oil, on energy. They don't allow our farm products in, essentially. They don't allow a lot of things in, and we allow everything to come in. It's been a one-way street.
Starting point is 00:48:49 We subsidize Canada by the tune of about $200 billion a year. And for what? What do we get out of it? We don't get anything out of it. I love the people of Canada. I disagree with the leadership of Canada. And something's going to happen there. But if they wanted to play the game, I don't mind. We can play the game all they want. Mexico, we've had very good talks with them. And this is retaliatory. This is retaliatory to a certain extent. Millions of people float into
Starting point is 00:49:20 our country through Mexico and Canada. And we're not going to allow that. And today when he was signing executive orders, one of the reporters in the Oval Office asked him, are you still forging ahead with tariffs on Canada? He said, oh, yeah. He said, more. We want Canada as the 51st state. He said that again today. Watch this.
Starting point is 00:49:46 A question that he could agree to, to change your mind on the terror. We can always, but look, what I'd like to see Canada become our 51st state. We give them protection, military protection. We don't need them to build our cars. I'd rather see Detroit or South Carolina or any one of our Tennessee, any one of our states build the cars. They could do it very easily. We don't need them for the cars. We don't need them for lumber. We don't need them for anything. We don't need them for energy.
Starting point is 00:50:11 We have more energy than they do. We don't need them for energy. So I say, why are we doing this? Why are we willing to lose between $100 billion and $200 billion a year? We don't need them. As a state, it's different. As a state, it's different. As a state, it's much different. And there are no tariffs. So I'd love to see that. But some people say that would be a long shot. If people wanted to play the game right,
Starting point is 00:50:39 it would be 100 percent certain that they'd become a a state but a lot of people don't like to play the game because they don't have a threshold of pain and there would be some pain but uh not a lot the pain would be really theirs he's serious he's intent on he's serious he's serious so well there's a lot of canad in Vero Beach right now. It's wintertime. We love the Canadians. Yes. Why don't we just, yeah, so just stop fighting and just join the United States. That's right.
Starting point is 00:51:13 All right. Sing together. Kumbaya. And so we're calling Canadian bacon bacon. It's really ham. Let's settle all our differences. And so. He's serious.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Yes. And show you's serious. Yes. And to show you how serious he is, he was able to use tariffs to leverage Shinebomb of Mexico, President Shinebomb. And Donald Trump halted tariffs on Mexico. They were looking at a 25% tariff as well. Look at that. Yeah. On Mexico as it rushes troops to the border. Right.
Starting point is 00:51:45 Mexican troops to the border of Texas. Yeah. On Mexico as it rushes troops to the border. Right. Mexican troops to the border of Texas. Yes. To stop Mexicans from crossing the border. Have you ever seen that happen? Yes, a new one for me. But a week ago, she was. Oh, she was throwing dust in there. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:04 She was going to fight fight she was going to resist we're not changing the name of the gulf of mexico yeah we're going to call america a mexicana all right no today she's she's crawling on her hands and knees and she's capitulated so to donald trump she posted posted on X the following here. Now, this is from her X account. She said, We had a good conversation with President Trump with great respect for our relationship and sovereignty.
Starting point is 00:52:34 We reached a series of agreements. Mexico will immediately reinforce the northern border with 10,000 members of the National Guard, that's the Mexican National Guard, to prevent drug trafficking from Mexico to the U.S., particularly fentanyl. The U.S. is committed to working to prevent the trafficking of high-powered weapons to Mexico. Our teams will begin working today on two fronts, security and trade, and they are pausing tariffs for one month for now, for one month. And so Donald Trump, that's where he's at
Starting point is 00:53:07 on it. We'll pause it. Let's see if you live up to your promises. Yeah, 30 days to prove that you're going to do it. Now, President Trump also posted to Truth Social. He said, I just spoke with President Scheinbaum of Mexico. Very friendly conversation. She agreed to supply 10,000 Mexican soldiers on the border. These soldiers will be specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl. And so tariffs work. Yes. They do. They're risky. They're very risky because if the tariffs go in place for both countries,
Starting point is 00:53:43 whenever there are two countries that are putting tariffs on each other, prices increase in both those countries. Right. Okay, so President Trump's viewpoint is, you know, we could get rid of the income tax. We'll just go all tariffs. Well, where does the money come from? He would say, well, from the tariffs.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Right. But the tariffs mean high taxes on the products coming in. Right, which means a price increase. You have to pay more for the products. Right. So if these tariffs go into effect, inflation is going up. That's what you have to understand. Inflation is going up if the tariffs go into effect.
Starting point is 00:54:26 So it looks like Canada, I don't see any indication the Canadians are going to back down right now. This is going to shut down the Canadian auto industry. Yes, it will shut down several industries. But folks, listen to this because this is important. If you're expecting to buy a new car or a new pickup truck and it's being built in Canada, it's not coming over the border. Right. They're going to shut down the plants in a couple of weeks. Right.
Starting point is 00:55:00 And it will take a while before everything here in the U.S. can retool up in order to meet the demand and bring prices down. But the price of cars, new cars and trucks, will skyrocket because of lower inventory. Right. But on the other hand, if we can stop illegal immigration and the importation of fentanyl into our country, significantly drop it, is it worth the cost? That's the question right no i i get it and but i'm just saying um once you get past all of the you know the the boasting and the muscle flexing and when you start looking at it prices are going to go up so certain items are going to disappear and certain items that do come across the border are going to go up so certain items are going to disappear and certain items that do come across the border are going to cost a lot more so you have to understand what what's at play the next
Starting point is 00:55:51 article is quite fascinating yes cnbc putin says europe will stand at the feet of the master i'll let you read this one doc okay so russia's uh president putin warned europe will quickly stand at the feet of the master after u.s president donald trump imposed tariffs on canada mexico don't forget he also imposed tariffs on china to additional tariffs 10 provoking a global markets meltdown an alarm among european. Following President Trump's decision at the weekend to impose trade duties on America's closest trading partners, President Putin said Sunday that Trump's second administration would restore order in Europe. He's quoted as saying, I assure you, Trump, with his character, with his persistence, he will restore order there quite quickly, meaning Europe. And all of them, you will see, it will happen quickly, soon.
Starting point is 00:56:47 They will all stand at the feet of the master and will wag their tails a little. Everything will fall into place, Putin told pro-Kremlin journalist Pavel Zarubin, who presents the primetime show Moscow, Kremlin-Putin program on Russian state TV. And the comments were translated by Ria Novosti and to Google. So, Doc, what do you think Putin means? Europe will stand at the feet of their master and this is going to happen quickly. I think two things are implied there. First of all, they are.
Starting point is 00:57:19 They're going to be like begging dogs, okay, here very quickly. But I think Putin sees a bigger master at play there. And that is that we're going to own Europe. Who is? America is going to own Europe. What we want of it. We've been at war with Europe for four years. Is Spain going to become a state? Rick, I'm not putting anything off the table.
Starting point is 00:57:53 You know, Italy and Hungary both have said, what would be so bad about becoming part of America? What would be so bad? Both Orban and Malani said that. Oh, doc. My memory on this is very vague and thin i'm going to say well okay so when was what years george w bush was in the white house between In 2009. Right. Right? Yes. So sometime around 2006 or 2007, maybe 2005. We've got to research this tomorrow. Mr. Bush, this is George W. Bush, was talking about, and I'm not sure, the Atlantic Agreement. I remember doing research on it, and not much was talked about.
Starting point is 00:58:55 I think he called and the United States. I don't remember a lot about it. It never got a lot of press. But it was under the Bush administration. They were talking about the Atlantic Agreement. I seem to have a vague recollection of that, too. OK, so is Mr. Trump reviving the North American Union and the Atlantic Agreement and just saying, OK, we're going to be we're just going to. OK, remember Mr. Trump in a campaign working at McDonald's with the French fries.
Starting point is 00:59:45 Isn't he saying to the American people, would you like to supersize it? Yes. Yeah. How would you like to? Would you like this order supersized? How about if I take, how about if we just supersize it with Canada, Panama, Greenland? Hey, maybe we'll supersize it with Europe, too. Well, if you think in the terms of that, we know that the world is moving to a multipolar order.
Starting point is 01:00:09 I mean, that's where it's headed. Wouldn't it behoove those polar entities to acquire as much, if you will, for lack of a better term, empire as they possibly can? What's China doing in the South China Sea? What's China doing in the South China Sea? What's China doing with Taiwan? I mean, some would make the argument that what's Russia doing with Ukraine? But I think that's a different situation entirely there. But we're going big. Has Donald Trump hinted to Vladimir Putin just work with me
Starting point is 01:00:42 and Russia will be part of this empire. Well, I mean, isn't Putin kind of recognizing that? Well, that's what I'm saying. Has Donald Trump hinted that to him? Just go with me. Work with me. Don't get in my way. And Russia will become part of it.
Starting point is 01:01:04 Are we going to see an Anglo Saxon European empire? Is it a Holy Roman empire? Is it going to go from Siberia all the way to, I mean, think about it, Alaska and Siberia. Right. Are we going to just link Alaska to Russia?
Starting point is 01:01:36 Nothing is out of the question right now. Right. Are we going to build a bridge from Alaska to Russia? You know, that's been proposed. I know it has. Which brings... I mean, if you're thinking in terms that we know that at some point there's going to be a global conflict with China. I mean, if that's where your mental and political and military philosophy is taking you,
Starting point is 01:02:01 that in 20 to 30 years, maybe less, we're going to be in a direct conflict with China, then we need as many allies on our side as we possibly can, including Russia. Yes. Including the Middle East. And if you can make a deal with the Russians that says, hey, we'll completely eliminate your military threat. Just eliminate it military threat. Just eliminate it. Yes.
Starting point is 01:02:28 Now, Rick, think back to St. Petersburg and Vladimir Putin speaking to Emmanuel Macron and saying, why don't we provide the defense for Europe? Defend us from who? Remember? Yes. Defend us from who?
Starting point is 01:02:44 Well, it turns out it may have been us. Before we go, Doc, I want to jump. Stuff's been happening so quickly throughout today. Let's go to number 35. Financial Times. U.S. demands Panama reduce Chinese influence over the canal or face action. So what's happening is that what china
Starting point is 01:03:07 is doing in so many parts of the world there is the belt and road initiative panama ended it today yes they severed their belt and road initiative agreement with china because marco Rubio went to Panama and told the Panamanian president, he's serious. He's serious. He's actually, he's told me, I mean, I'm just, I'm imagining what the conversation was like. Mr. Rubio probably said, Mr. President, Mr. Trump is going to invade. I need to go home with something he likes. Yes. And then they started going down the list.
Starting point is 01:03:51 Well, how about kick the Chinese out of the Panama Canal? Right. And the Chinese definitely control three of the four ports that sit at either entrance of the Panama Canal. There's no question about that. Whether they actually CCPcp controls the the actual ditch itself yes the ports are controlled yes and china has just built a convention center in panama city yes um see they have their china aid agency also yeah they learn from us they build bridge, a cruise ship port.
Starting point is 01:04:26 This is what China is doing all over the Caribbean, South America. So what appears happened today in Panama is that Marco Rubio delivered the ultimatum. And the Panamanian president was Mr. Molino caved in. Yes. And said, OK, we kicked the chinese out look you know i've said well i haven't been to panama for i don't know 12 years or so i i never saw a chinese soldier there ever like i i joked last week i couldn't even find a good place to buy egg rolls you know i couldn't see a chinese presence okay but that's been 12 years ago
Starting point is 01:05:06 i haven't been back for a long time but that's not to say that the pla is not there in business suits right which they're okay it's their army now right but i never saw chinese people when i was there you know i looked i was deliberately looking to see if I saw presence. But again, it's been over a decade. So this is, let's see, number 37. This is a Panama official. This is the president, isn't it? Yes. This is President Molino announcing that he's kicking the Chinese out of Panama.
Starting point is 01:05:43 Yes. Let's watch. And I communicate it to you. The 2017 Memorandum of Understanding on the Belt and Road Silk Road Initiative will not be renewed by my government. That's right. We are going to look into the possibility of whether it can be terminated earlier or not, but I think it's due in one or two years for renewal
Starting point is 01:06:16 because it's every three. So that initiative that was signed when was signed in the time that it was signed will not be renewed by my government. I believe that this visit opens a way to build a new stage of relations. That is how I see it. That is how I felt it on the part of Secretary Marco Rubio and at the same time try as far as possible to increase US investments in Panama.
Starting point is 01:06:51 I explained to him a series of infrastructure projects that the government has in its portfolio with the intention of making them known and when the time comes for the bids to be made that will begin very soon then they can be entered. The way I look at it, Donald Trump won this one. Of course he won. Panama folder. What are they going to do? I mean all you have to think about is Noriega. Right. By the way, President Noriega got saved.
Starting point is 01:07:26 Oh, yes. In prison. That's true. I interviewed the evangelist who led him to Christ. He didn't get saved. But the U.S. invaded Panama. President Molino caved yesterday. Today, they're kicking the Chinese out.
Starting point is 01:07:45 He's got a new perspective on this whole thing. Got a new idea about it. Mexico caved. Canada will cave. And another country caved. And then we look at number 39 and this is Greenland. And Denmark. Denmark says we're open to the idea of an expanded U.S. military role in Greenland. You're going to get it one way or the other. That's right. So now they're talking about
Starting point is 01:08:16 maybe sharing mineral rights. So that's where this is headed. See, you put out the extreme position, and then you get what you're really after. Right. Which is
Starting point is 01:08:34 they come to your desired position without any resistance. There's a Native American proverb, Rick, that says it is better to aim at the moon and hit an eagle than to aim at an eagle and hit a rock. That's true. Well, Mr. Trump does it well. He aims at the moon. So let's go to South Africa. Mr. Trump is threatening South Africa too. Let's just go global. Trump threatened South Africa over land seizures from certain classes,
Starting point is 01:09:03 meaning white people. Right. So the South African government is confiscating land. Now, they have a different perspective on it. They say they are repatriating land and bringing it back into the public domain. Mr. Trump says, no, you're seizing land from white farmers and and giving it away to others i'm surprised he's involved in this um but he he announced on true social i am cutting off funding to south africa right and he says south africa is confiscating land treating certain classes of people very badly is a bad situation that the radical left media doesn't want to so much as mention. A massive human rights violation at a minimum is happening for all to see.
Starting point is 01:09:54 The U.S. won't stand for it. We will act. Also, I'll be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed. I want to go down to number 43, Bloomberg. Pentagon staff used DeepSeek's chat box for days. Unbelievable. People in the Pentagon downloaded the Chinese DeepSeek AI app on Pentagon computers. And they had to be told that you shouldn't do that and the last one and this is another one another victory for mr trump yes
Starting point is 01:10:35 no plans for a bricks currency we've changed our mind we've it over, and we really don't want to directly challenge the U.S. dollar. That's big. We've been moving for 15 years towards the creation of a BRICS currency. And the statement that they had in this, and this is coming from Dmitry Peskov, I laughed at when I read it earlier. BRICS is not considering the creation of a common currency. This has neither been discussed in the past nor is it currently on the agenda. Instead, BRICS is focused on establishing new joint investment platforms that will facilitate investments in third countries as well as mutual investments among member states, he said. Come on. Doc, I'm telling you, I think Donald Trump is secretly extending an offer to Vladimir Putin.
Starting point is 01:11:31 Let's stop fighting and let's shake hands and make money. Yes. I really believe that's the message he's sending them. And the Russians are saying, why are we doing this why are we challenging them that we've there's a new president who's who's offering us a seat at the table yes
Starting point is 01:11:56 so the fact that they just announced that there's new bricks coming. That means the U.S. dollar stays in the driver's seat for decades. It's going to run the world for decades. You're not going to see the dollar crash. Right. Just forget that. You're not going to see the dollar crash. If we have to back it up with uranium, we're going to. It's not going to crash.
Starting point is 01:12:21 U.S. dollar is not going to crash. It's going to be inflated it's going to be devalued but it's not going to crash it will continue to devalue but it's not going to crash okay and the the continued inflation of prices, the devaluation of the dollar will continue until they introduce a new dollar. Yes. Eventually there will be a new dollar. Yes. And Mr.

Visit our website and become prepared today. Good morning. Welcome to Morning Manna. It is Monday, and we welcome you to this weekday Bible study sponsored by Faith and Values Fellowship in Vero Beach, Florida. This January, we have
Starting point is 01:16:15 begun a study of the book of Romans, and today we're in chapter 3, and we're going to read verses 9 through 20. We'll see if we make it all the way to 20, but we're going to give it our best effort. So let's pray and then Doc will read verses 9 through 20. Dear gracious heavenly Father, we love you and we praise you. We come to you, Father, with hearts of thanksgiving and praise and adoration. Father, we are gathered here from many nations,
Starting point is 01:16:47 your daughters and sons, coming together in virtual reality, Father, online, in real time, in many nations, to be fed by your spirit. We have one God, one Savior, one spirit, one faith. And Father, we are united in you, Father. So feed us and teach us and edify us that we would be stronger disciples to glorify your son, Jesus, in his name. Amen. Amen. And what a privilege today to study the word of God. I hope you take that same attitude each and every time we gather together and that you have your Bible
Starting point is 01:17:32 with you. Have a notepad and piece of paper, a pen to keep notes. And so, because I guarantee you're going to learn some things today. And we're going to be reading verses 9 through 20 in chapter 3. So if you've got your Bibles, read along with me. Special greetings to the folks in Papua New Guinea, to Malaysia, to South Korea. And so we just say hello to you. We know we have a lot of nations here, but I thought just to do a quick shout out there to folks in Asia today. Verse 9 is where we're reading from. What then? Are we better than they? No, and no wise. For we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles that they are all under sin. As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. There's none that understandeth. There's none that seeketh after god they are all gone out
Starting point is 01:18:28 of the way they are together become unprofitable there is none that doeth good no not one their throat is an open sepulcher with their tongues they have used deceit the poison of asp is under their lips whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways, and the way of peace have they not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know what things soever the law saith, saith to them who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore, by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. God bless the reading of his word this morning. Amen.
Starting point is 01:19:26 What then? What then? What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise. For we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles that they are all under sin so Paul is making a emphatic conclusive statement about the universal condition of sin he's emphasizing that all people Jews and Gentiles are equally under sin There's no room for exceptions. But this sinfulness is universal.
Starting point is 01:20:16 And so Paul's argument is a legal indictment that is formally charging humanity as guilty before God's law. All humanity stands guilty. You know, a lot of people think about Judgment Day that
Starting point is 01:20:44 perhaps they're going to have an opportunity to state their case and defend themselves. Now, I got news for you. Judgment Day is not a trial. It's a sentencing hearing. That's right.
Starting point is 01:21:04 Yeah, you're already convicted you're already condemned if if you are outside of christ when you arrive before the judge on judgment day you're already convicted there's no trial this is for sentencing yes if you're in christ you arrive at the courtroom absolutely innocent and you're told by the judge go your way go over here to my city you're innocent but those who are under the law if they're guilty they arrive they arrive in the courtroom absolutely guilty, convicted. There is no trial. They're there for sentencing.
Starting point is 01:21:51 So, like I said, this is a legal indictment that Paul's presenting here today on the entire human race. And so this prepares the way for Paul to establish the doctrine of justification by faith. Yes. Because since we're all guilty, we need a savior. And there is no other Savior except Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 01:22:38 So Paul is anticipating a Jewish objection. He can hear them in his mind. If Jews have the law, are they not better than Gentiles? And so Paul directly rejects any notion that Jews have religious privileges that make them less guilty before God. Amen. privileges that make them less guilty before God amen and so ethnic or religious heritage provides no moral exemption all stand before God on equal level ground you're either saved or you're unsaved.
Starting point is 01:23:27 So Jews cannot claim righteousness based on their covenant with God. Because you have to keep the entire law. Right. And none are able to do it. Before proved, Paul says before proved. That has a legal connotation. To me, it indicates a formal indictment.
Starting point is 01:24:16 And he's presenting this imagery of final judgment where all humanity will be held accountable before God's Court of Justice you know so Paul is he's making an observation an observation about human sinfulness he's presenting a legal case that he's demonstrating that everybody is guilty. No impartiality, no special breaks. You don't get a pass because of your ethnicity or your knowledge of the law. In fact, your knowledge of the law might make it worse. Right. Because you know.
Starting point is 01:25:09 Now you're really in trouble you knew the law and you still broke it okay so I want to get I want to move down here to verse 10. We're trying to get through all 20 today. Doc, would you read verse 10 for us? Yes. Every Christian should have this memorized. As it is written, there is none righteous. No, not one. There is none righteous.
Starting point is 01:25:40 No, not one. Can I say it again? There is none righteous. No, not one. As say it again there is none righteous no not one as it is written he's signifying the weight like you already know this it's been written no not one all all have fallen short of the glory of god all and and so he's driving the point home particularly to the jewish readers that you cannot stand there puffed up with pride thinking you're better than the Gentiles. He says, as it is written. Written where?
Starting point is 01:26:25 In the Jewish scriptures, in the Old Testament. So he's strengthening his, he's quoting Old Covenant scripture to strengthen his argument for the Jews who are reading his letter. And he's saying, to strengthen his argument for the jews who are reading his letter and he's saying no human effort can attain righteousness there is no merit-based salvation
Starting point is 01:27:06 um and and of course he's driving home the message to the Jews who believe that keeping the law made them righteous and he's over and over telling them you're incapable of keeping all the law if you break one commandment you've broken all of them we all stand guilty before God. So no one can earn righteousness. It comes entirely through God's grace. There is no other way to be righteous. There's no other way to be saved. It is a gift from God. It cannot be earned.
Starting point is 01:27:47 What does the law do? The law exposes sin. Right. That's what it does. If there was no law, there'd be no sin. That's it. The law is there to tell you you're a sinner. It's the code.
Starting point is 01:28:23 Why are there speed signs on the road I'll tell you you're a speeder right why did why do they put signs on highways that says the speed law enforced by radar or enforced by helicopters the The state is saying, this is the law. We're telling you you're going to be prosecuted for speeding. The law is there to tell you that you're a wrongdoer. Right. The law was never meant to justify humanity. Its purpose is to reveal sin and the need for a savior. The law was never meant to justify humanity. Its purpose is to reveal sin and the need for a savior.
Starting point is 01:29:10 Yeah. So if you think about it in terms of like the speed limit, you don't get anything special or special reward for following the speed limit. Right? No. Because it's expected of you. That's the minimum standard. This this is the speed limit okay now if you've kept the speed limit great but you don't get a medal or a special award or anything because you've kept the speed limit but if you break the speed limit you're condemned right so a state trooper doesn't pull you over and say, hey, you're going under the speed limit. Here's a cookie.
Starting point is 01:29:46 Congratulations. Good job. You were doing what you were required to do. Yes. So, you know, there are there are people who think that they should get accolades because they do what they're supposed to do. No, that's what's required. So the message that Paul is driving home in Romans is that we can only be made righteous through faith in Christ. And Paul is, he's preparing the way he's building his case like a lawyer he's building his case for justification through faith in christ right so since no one is righteous, salvation must come through grace alone. And that is received by faith. And even the faith that's needed to receive the grace is given by God.
Starting point is 01:30:55 That's right. You don't even you can't even come up with the faith. He gives you the faith to receive the free gift that's how unsaved we are that's how wretched we are the only way to be saved is through faith in christ grace alone it's God's grace that he saves us. We can only receive that grace through faith. And we don't even have the ability to muster up a faith on our own. God has to give us the faith to believe him for what he's giving us for free. Right.
Starting point is 01:31:43 What does that say about us so we're lost without him yes totally lost without him this is the thing that people don't understand about walking away from the holy spirit when the Holy Spirit is wooing you you don't know how long the Holy Spirit's going to continue to call a sinner without the Holy Spirit may may stop calling a person for five to ten years and just let them go just let them go in their life they'll make a mess of their life and he'll come back ten years later and start again that process can continue for a long, long time.
Starting point is 01:32:47 But that person cannot get saved without the Holy Spirit. Amen. If the Holy Spirit withdraws for a season, whether that's months or years or a decade, that person cannot get saved during that time. You don't get to choose the time you you're saved what you get to do is to submit and repent and believe on the name of Jesus we are totally dependent on God for salvation so this is where the doctrine of total depravity comes from that every part of human nature is affected by sin
Starting point is 01:33:38 right and if it was anything we could do if there was any act if there was any single thing that we could do that would justify us outside of grace then grace is not necessary yes
Starting point is 01:34:01 because sin is not just actions it's the state of the heart yes it's what we are it's not what we've done it's what we are we're sinners so humanity's fallenness
Starting point is 01:34:18 I guess that's a word fallenness is so complete that no part of the human soul remains untouched by sin. If you hear somebody talk about the depravity
Starting point is 01:34:37 of humanity, that's what they're referring to. That our fallen nature is so fallen that it has affected every part of our beings, and we are incapable of doing anything that's righteous on our own. We're incapable of finding Christ on our own. We're incapable of finding Christ on our own. We're incapable of going to God on
Starting point is 01:35:11 our own. So, where are we at, at doc verse 10 or verse 11 no we can start on 11 we 11 okay i moved down here there is none that understandeth and there is none that seeketh god none okay there's nobody who understands understands what understands god understands righteousness understands truth and there's none seeking after god what is that you mean nobody's seeking god no it's god who's seeking you. Yes. He puts the hunger in you for him. He stirs up your spirit and shows you how lost you are, how empty you are. He makes himself known.
Starting point is 01:36:23 He makes himself available and says seek me but without him we don't seek him people seek other things to fill that void but they don't seek the true god and satan will make sure that he he provides you with something to seek yes i see it all the time right good decent people kind people but they're they're seeking that they're trying to fill that spiritual emptiness with some other religion, some other philosophy. It could be new age.
Starting point is 01:37:09 It could be anything. They're trying to find a way to fill that void. They might even think they're pursuing God. Yes. But God says, no, you're really not pursuing me. What you're pursuing is something you've made up. That's right. Because you're really not pursuing me what you're pursuing is something you've made up that's right because you're really not pursuing me because if you truly pursued me you would repent and turn to me yes so when Paul says it is as it is written okay
Starting point is 01:37:37 and the previous verse he was quoting Psalm 14 verses 2 and 3. And knowing that the Jews reading his letter would recognize that scripture. But verse 11 is reinforcing the totality of human depravity. That it applies to everybody. And again, this was the mountain that Jews had difficulty climbing. Right. They had no problem believing that the Gentiles were depraved.
Starting point is 01:38:28 Right. There was no issue. That's why Paul is quoting the scripture here. If he quoted scripture, he's not delivering that message to the Gentiles. They don't know the scripture. He's quoting scripture, delivering that message to the Jews. Now, just so you know, you're just as condemned as the Gentiles are. You are in the very same boat.
Starting point is 01:38:50 None are righteous. No, not one. None understand it. Nobody pursues me. Not even you with the law. Yes. So he's shattering this Jewish notion of moral superiority
Starting point is 01:39:08 which you know was pretty pretty difficult for Jews to swallow and still is today because that superiority complex is still very strong with many Jewish people. And it's actually been, it now permeates a lot of evangelical Christian churches
Starting point is 01:39:37 where they accept it. You're right, you are superior to us. Yes. When they ought to be teaching Romans, say no, we're all sinners. See, this is, again, this is why Christian Zionism is so
Starting point is 01:39:54 wrong. Because Christian Zionist churches are teaching Christians, you are second-class citizen in the kingdom of God. The Jews are superior to us. At some point, God's going to be done with us. And then all attention is going to turn to Israel. Right. That's what they teach. Right. The rapture is when God is done with Gentiles. He just scoops them up and gets them off the planet. And now it's all about Jews.
Starting point is 01:40:30 Yes. Now things are going to be right. Right. No, it's seven years of trouble. According to their mindset. Right. Isn't that the argument? We got to get the Gentiles out of here so we can have seven years with the Jewish people. And then we're going to kill two-thirds of them. That's what the logic of it is so crazy. And so that's what they teach. They don't, folks, they don't come right out and say it. Some do, though. They don't come right out and say it some do though they don't come right out and say it but really they believe that there's two pathways of salvation as a gentile
Starting point is 01:41:14 you have to confess jesus christ that's your pathway that's your only way to eternity for the jews they don't come right out and say this, but they say, because Jews are Jews, they get a special pass. Um, doc, would you, uh, I, I'm changing my notes here. Um, I'm having trouble with my page and just give me a, a notes here. I'm having trouble with my page, and just give me a second here. Okay. By the way, folks, this passage that Paul is referencing here is found, it's actually found in scriptures twice, as if God only had to say it once, but Psalm chapter 14
Starting point is 01:42:02 and almost duplicated in Psalm chapter 53. So if you want to look that up on your own outside of class, you can. But the condemnation of all was a concept that David sang and taught about in the Psalms. And so this wasn't a foreign concept. Paul is simply reminding them, you're condemned already. You may not like to reference the scriptures that says that, but you're condemned already. Okay, I just made an adjustment, and this is working much better. So I built my outline on on Google Google Drive and I guess
Starting point is 01:42:51 because I have so many notes on it it's very clunky when I'm trying to scroll through it and so I just transferred it over to Microsoft Word and it's it's scrolling a lot easier so Microsoft has that one advantage over Google um so Paul says there is none that understands nobody okay all sin affects the human intellect okay and it makes people incapable of understanding spiritual truth
Starting point is 01:43:37 you can't talk the bible to somebody who's unsaved they're not going to get it well then how do you show them scriptures about salvation the Holy Spirit has to be calling them
Starting point is 01:43:55 so he goes back to the Holy Spirit you're being called by the Holy Spirit but you can't teach Romans to unsaved people you know they're not going to get it you're not going to teach the revelation of jesus christ the apocalypse you're not going to teach that to unsaved people you got to start at the basics about their sin and their need for a savior and you have to have the holy spirit working inside of them to bring them to that
Starting point is 01:44:46 really this baby step of okay you have to admit you're a sinner and you need Christ. None understands. There's a difference between intellectual understanding, intellectual knowledge knowledge and spiritual understanding and human wisdom cannot lead a person to God yes that's because sin sin not only corrupts a person but it blinds their heart and their mind. Yes. So when the intellect is darkened by sin, divine revelation is necessary. And that revelation is only going to come through the Holy Spirit.
Starting point is 01:45:45 None that seek after God. revelation is only going to come through the Holy Spirit. None does seek after God. It's humanity's inclination, its natural inclination to move away from God. Right. Even when it thinks it's seeking God. Right.
Starting point is 01:46:00 When it thinks it's seeking God, really what it's doing is creating idols. Yes. Whether it's a physical idol or something we've made up in our mind, even though we've been made in the image of God, we make God in the image of man. Yes. Very good, Doc. That's very good.
Starting point is 01:46:21 Humans seek idols idols false gods or selfish interests but they're not seeking the true God in fact unsaved people will work
Starting point is 01:46:40 hard to suppress truth again I keep going back to this doctrine of total depravity that even even religious acts outside of christ are self-centered and idolatrous unless they were initiated by God. Every single thing requires God to be involved in our salvation. Okay? No one naturally seeks God. People avoid. They distort.
Starting point is 01:47:18 They replace him. The doc said they'll seek an idol and think that they're seeking God it's God who takes the initiative in salvation it the revelation which comes through hearing the word of God and conviction of the Holy Spirit,
Starting point is 01:47:50 it is the only means by which people come to God. John 6, 44, Jesus said, no one can come to me unless the father draws him You know in my case when I was in my mid 20 to 24 and I You know Say, you know, I was I was as lost as a blind goose and a and a windstorm I was lost and but God started calling my name I audibly heard my name not all the time like once I don't know if it was once a week, twice a month. I don't recall.
Starting point is 01:48:47 This was a period over a couple of months. I would hear my name. I knew that it came from somewhere in the sky. Folks, this is true. I would go outside and I'd look up at the sky and I'd say, who are you? Why did you say my name i actually truly thought it was a space alien that's how lost i was i thought they got some kind of mind the skull technology
Starting point is 01:49:21 they're beaming thoughts to my head. That's how lost I was. Like I've heard somebody call my name. I heard it audibly. Wasn't something inside. I heard it. Okay. That went on for months. And then God gave me a dream,
Starting point is 01:49:45 a prophetic dream about the end of the world. I'm not saved. I have a dream. And in the dream, I'm told, you know, this is in the book of the revelation. I'm like, I've never, I don't own the Bible.
Starting point is 01:50:01 But I'm told this dream is about the book of the revelation. I knew what that was. I said the Bible, but I didn't this dream is about the book of the revelation. I knew what that was. I said the Bible, but I didn't own a Bible. That got me going to church because Susan was going to church. God had already been dealing with Susan's heart. So she was going to church without me for months.
Starting point is 01:50:27 So what was happening in church i went there hoping these people tried to figure out who was calling my name and explain that dream to me um i didn't have any i wasn't playing i didn't know what saved was I didn't know I was lost what are you talking about I went there hoping they could help me understand who's saying my name you know now I understand why the
Starting point is 01:50:57 the pastors the pastor and the elders would have that little grin on their face because they knew God was dealing with me the pastor and the elders would have that little grin on their face. Because they knew God was dealing with me. See, for months, I went to church with Susan, and the word was getting inside of me. I wasn't going there to hear the word.
Starting point is 01:51:24 I had to tolerate it. I had to tolerate it. I had to tolerate it. All right, here comes the 30-minute sermon. But that word was going inside of me. That was God dealing with all those things. God saying my name, giving me the dream, getting me to go to church with susan hearing the word of god that was god wooing me you know bringing me to a place and then one day i realized i was lost i mean i i realized i was really lost it hit me i mean just are you talking about it being hit by a mac
Starting point is 01:52:09 truck that's what i felt like it just it shook my world and i i was aware i was safe i was unsaved i was aware that i was a sinner and i deserved hell and it was a it was the biggest news I ever heard big shock I ever had and it hit me hard and I got saved this is what Paul's talking about here that God takes the initiative in salvation. I wasn't seeking him. I was seeking the source of the voice that was saying my name. Right. But you weren't seeking God.
Starting point is 01:53:00 I wasn't seeking God. The last time he spoke in my the last time I I shouted to the sky you said my name now identify yourself who are you I want to know your name I was getting frustrated I won't know your name you keep saying my name tell me your name and You keep saying my name. Tell me your name. And the voice went away. I never heard it after that. Right.
Starting point is 01:53:33 But the other thing started happening. The dream and then going to church. And then that one Sunday. He identified himself and told me his name. My name is Jesus Christ. I'm your savior. You're a sinner. That's God working in the life of a sinner. Look, everybody has a different testimony. No testimony, no two testimonies are the same. Don't compare mine to yours. Everybody has a different testimony
Starting point is 01:54:12 because God deals with us as individuals. He knows what each one of us needs, but it's God who's pulling the center. It's God who's wooing, leading. It's an act of grace and we're incapable of saving our that we're lost. He has to show us that we have to find him. Yes. So if no one seeks God, then God must seek humanity first.
Starting point is 01:55:02 And salvation is initiated by divine grace. Yes, it's nothing we can do. There's nothing. Nothing. We don't desire God. We don't seek him. Paul's making it very clear here, and he's teaching this from
Starting point is 01:55:20 the Old Testament, from the Old Covenant. This is the way it's always been. Look, there are many churches that do not believe this. They don't teach this doctrine of total depravity. Well, that sounds too negative.
Starting point is 01:55:46 I don't want to tell my congregation they were depraved that's that sounds harsh that sounds really old-fashioned judgmental well that's the gospel without christ you are depraved. Right. And that's the message that Paul is driving home in this letter to the Romans, particularly the Jews in Rome. But hey, I got news for you. You're just as depraved as the Gentiles. The only difference is God gave you the law to let you know how depraved you are but the Gentiles he just put it in their conscience
Starting point is 01:56:31 but you've got the law you have no excuse you know you're depraved but they had built a religion out of having an exclusive position with God they were superior to everybody else so what paul is showing us in verse 11 is humanity's need for christ as he is only he jesus christ can restore what sin has corrupted in our in our being
Starting point is 01:57:08 everything has been corrupted by sin which is the purpose of the new birth you have to be born again all right you gotta you gotta do this over okay the first time you came out you had a fallen nature you were depraved now we're gonna have a second birth and this time when you come out you're spotless. Your soul is spotless. Now, physically, we're not born again, but our soul is born again. Yes. The way for me to explain it is
Starting point is 01:57:59 that when we are born, obviously our body is alive, our mind is alive, but our soul, our spirit is spiritually dead. It's spiritually dead. When the word of God comes into our life and the Holy Spirit is wooing us. And that can be, God can do it. I've seen God do this with children at age five and six.
Starting point is 01:58:35 Yes. And I've seen him where people resisted until they're 96. But when the word of God gets in that person and the Holy Spirit is wooing them, it's like a spark from heaven ignites that dead soul.
Starting point is 01:58:56 Right. That dead spirit. And suddenly it's alive. Right. That is the meaning of being born again. Yes. Now, many people teach, and this is actually out of the Talmud, and so that there's a divine light in all of us.
Starting point is 01:59:16 That somehow we have, everybody has a divine light. That there is some spark of the divine within. In fact, the Talmud specifically teaches that, but that is not a biblical concept. There is no place in the Bible where you can come up with this divine light theory, divine spark. It's an invention of mankind.
Starting point is 01:59:40 Paul makes it clear here. There is nothing in us, and any spark that we have comes from God, but it's not innate within us. It's not inside of us. We're not waiting to expose our divine light like some would teach today. No, it's the other way around. You're dead. It's like having a dead battery in your car. It's dead, and there's no juice in it there's nothing in it and you need to have another battery to jump it to get it going that's how dead you are you have no power in yourself one way to look at it is when you're born physically born you know you're again your
Starting point is 02:00:19 your physical body is alive your mind is alive. But your spirit is stillborn. Yes. It just comes out dead. And it remains dead until the Holy Spirit quickens it brings it to life and that can only be done through faith in the resurrected Christ that's why Jesus had to die go to the that's why you had to go to the cross and die on the cross and be buried and resurrected so that your faith is in his resurrection your faith in his resurrection is what resurrects your dead spirit then you you're born again verse 12 they are all gone out of the way they are together become unprofitable
Starting point is 02:01:29 there is none that doeth good no not one paul's really stuck on this isn't he i think he's making his case clear you ain't got nothing yes he he's driving it home this indictment of universal sinfulness that all people have deviated from god's path all people are spiritually dead and useless all people are incapable of true goodness apart from divine grace. So he's quoting Psalms 14.3 and Psalm 53.3.
Starting point is 02:02:24 So 3.3. So, why that is important is that Paul's quoting the Psalms to reveal the humanity's sinful condition, that this isn't a new revelation Paul's bringing forth, but it's been in the scripture for a long time. You know, he's reminding the Jews, hey, God already told you these things.
Starting point is 02:02:54 Yes. But you created a religion around to ignore it. So he's showing the Jews, even your own scriptures affirm the universal depravity of mankind but as doc mentioned the talmud the jews created another book right the talmud now becomes superior to the scriptures the the interpretation of the rabbis, the rabbis will tell you what to believe about these things. And you know, it's interesting about, well, one of the things about the Talmud,
Starting point is 02:03:36 I don't know if it's interesting or not, is you'll have different rabbis and they'll have contradictory interpretations on different passages of scripture. And you get to pick and choose which rabbi that you want to believe, depending upon your particular flavor of interpretation. There is no standard interpretation in Talmud. It's basically a collection of a whole bunch of different rabbis over the centuries
Starting point is 02:04:03 telling you what they think god said yes it's a commentary yes that's all it is is a commentary they put more uh more value more emphasis on the commentary than they do the scripture itself right Right. Look, what we're doing here in this Bible study, this is commentary. This is Doc and me explaining scriptures to the best of our ability,
Starting point is 02:04:35 but our commentary shouldn't be higher than the scriptures. Amen. Amen. You have the scriptures. You have to seek them out yourself. All we're doing is trying to help you have the scriptures you have to seek them out yourself all we're doing is trying to help
Starting point is 02:04:49 but don't put our commentary higher than what the scripture says or you do the same thing that the Jews did with Talmud so Paul's eliminating the theme continues he's eliminating
Starting point is 02:05:04 claims to self-righteousness. He's reiterating that all people stand guilty before God. Have gone out of the way. A deliberate departure from God. Wasn't accidental, it was deliberate. Willful rejection of God's righteousness. God. It wasn't accidental. It was deliberate. Willful rejection of God's righteousness. Not accidental.
Starting point is 02:05:30 A conscious choice to turn away from God and go towards rebellion. It's not passive. It's an active deviation from God's standard, his will. That's what that means, gone out of the way.
Starting point is 02:05:49 It's, you're saying this, you know, if you said to a disobedient child, you went out of your way to do the opposite of what I told you to do. Right. You made an way to do the opposite of what I told you to do. Right. You made an effort to do the opposite. That's what Paul's saying here. People go out of their way. They deliberately, consciously deviate from God's way, knowing that they're doing it. Right. So Paul is making the case here that someone might argue that
Starting point is 02:06:27 well i was born in sin i i have a sin nature i can't help but sin then why should i be condemned because of this and so paul makes it very clear no it's not just your nature it's not just who you are it's also what you do as a result of that you are making a deliberate conscious choice to sin beyond your sin nature itself you're making the conscious choice to sin so you're without excuse yes and he says together become unprofitable, which means worthless, spiritually worthless. You know, at the end of the day, it doesn't amount to anything. You're still unsaved. so he's speaking about mankind's inability to fulfill their god-given purpose um just you know you go out of your way to go the wrong way and you become unprofitable. You become corrupt, spoiled, of no use. Something that's spoiled and corrupted,
Starting point is 02:07:55 rotten, is of no use. What are you going to do with it? You know, if you got a spoiled fish, what are you going to make with it? If you got a bag of rotten potatoes, what are you going to make with it? If you got a bag of rotten potatoes, what are you going to make with that? It's of no use. It's corrupted. It's spoiled. And, you know, it's ineffective. It's like a branch that never produces fruit. Paul says, there is none that doeth good.
Starting point is 02:08:33 No, not one. I mean, he just keeps driving us home. Not one. Do you understand me? Paul is saying, do you understand all of us? Not one of us can do good. He can feel the frustration building in Paul. Yes.
Starting point is 02:08:54 Like, how do I get this across to you? None of us can do good. so no human actions is good in God's sight if it's apart from his divine grace he's not impressed because look unsaved people do good deeds but their good deeds are tainted by sin what does that look like okay
Starting point is 02:09:36 somebody bakes you a wonderful apple pie but it's got motor grease all over it but what are you going to do with that yeah the good deed was they baked you a great apple pie but on the way to your house to deliver to you i don't know they they put it underneath their their their cars engine grease dripped on it i mean what are you going to do with it it's tainted
Starting point is 02:10:16 it was a good deed but it's tainted yes this is what unsaved people who do good deeds that's how god sees their good deeds like okay that was a good deed. That's how God sees their good deeds. Like, okay, that was a good deed, but it's tainted with sin. You got to get the sin out. You got to get rid of the sin nature. And that can only be done through a work of grace with faith in Jesus Christ so it doesn't mean that people never perform moral acts but these acts apart from god's grace are corrupted so without god's intervention no human
Starting point is 02:11:11 can produce righteousness that meets god's perfect standards right um i don't know if we can uh I think we probably should stop here. We're at the one hour mark. We'll pick up tomorrow with the next verse. With verse 13 tomorrow? Yes. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 02:11:41 Okay. Verse 13, this gets into a long passage there's several verses talking about the the throat the mouth the the tongue everything and it's one long sentence made up of three or four or five verses so i'd rather pick up tomorrow on verse 13 and and carry it all the way through. All right. If you're foul-mouthed and vulgar and a cursor, a complainer, tomorrow's going to be pretty rough. Okay?
Starting point is 02:12:27 If you like to curse people, if you use your mouth to condemn and revile people, attack people, well, you need to be here tomorrow if that's you. Yes. I was going to say,
Starting point is 02:12:41 tomorrow's your day. Tomorrow's your day. It won't go easy on you. For the word will do its work. I was going to say, tomorrow's your day. Tomorrow's your day. It won't go easy on you. For the word will do its work. Verse 13, starting tomorrow. Amen. Well, Rick, we appreciate the lesson today.
Starting point is 02:13:01 And I pray that everyone here that was live with us this morning received something good. And then those that are listening to us on the repeat later on. I pray that the Lord is blessing you as well. It's the word of God that transforms us. And as this passage declares, there is nothing in us that seeks God, nothing in our own flesh or anything. The fact that you sought to be here today, either live or listening to us later on on repeat says that god is willing you god is pulling you in and he desires to do something in your life and i would encourage you as that word penetrates your heart that you would respond to it and say yes to the lord and what he's doing in your life any uh any final words before we sign off for today listener no right well this should be an interesting news day today we encourage you to tune in to in your life. Any final words before we sign off for today? No.
