The U.S. Department of Defense is rushing military assets to the Middle East to defend Israel from an expected multi-front attack coming from Iran, Hezbollah, Yemen, and possibly Iraq. Meanwhile, Russia's military leadership was stunned by Ukraine's successful incursion into Russian-held territory. President Putin met with his advisors today to decide how to respond. Doc Burkhart is away today.

Starting point is 00:01:46 This is True News for Monday, August 12, 2024. Let's begin our analysis and commentary of today's world headlines by looking at this Times of Israel article, and the headline is, Israeli intel believes Iran will attack directly within days. I've been following the situation in the Middle East very closely, day after day, and I will tell you that in the past 24 hours, there has been a very marked change in the assessment by Israeli and American officials. They're clearly now believing that an attack will happen very soon. This is what the Jerusalem Post reported. that Iran might carry out an attack on Israel in the coming days, potentially even before the upcoming Thursday summit on the hostage deal negotiations,

Starting point is 00:02:52 according to two sources familiar with the matter. The Jerusalem Post said the most recent evaluation by the Israeli intelligence community formed within the past 24 hours indicates that Iran has decided to directly target Israel in retaliation for the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Hanea. The Jerusalem Post article said, a source with knowledge of the situation revealed that in recent days there has been an internal debate in Iran between the Revolutionary Guards Corps and the new Iranian president and his advisors. The debate centers on the nature and timing of the response to Haneel's assassination. The Revolutionary Guards have been advocating for a more severe and widespread response than the April 13 attack,

Starting point is 00:03:48 while the president and his advisers believe that such a harsh response should be avoided. So it's obvious, it's clear where this is going. If there really is a debate within Iran, and I'm not even sure about that, I'll be honest with you, that could very well be part of Iranian propaganda to cause the West to wonder what Iran is going to do. They could be pretending that there's a debate between the new president of Iran and the military commanders of the Revolutionary Guard Corps. There might be, and again, it may be a front. It may be a mirage to confuse the Israelis and the Americans. But we're going to find out here very soon.

Starting point is 00:04:43 And I think, I personally believe there is an attack coming very, very soon. Perhaps within the next 72 hours. Another story, this is also Jerusalem Post. Israel, very close to regional war, says former IDF general amid the Iran threat. And I've just got a couple of quotes from the Jerusalem Post article. Now, this is a quote from Major General Israel Ziv. And he said this during an interview on Israeli Radio 103 FM. And this was said today, Monday.

Starting point is 00:05:33 He said, quote, we are on the escalation line at the point where it is really very close to a regional war. So it's no longer, he's not talking about a war between Israel and Iran. He's saying this is going to spread out and other countries are going to be involved. So what other countries? Well, obviously, Hezbollah in Lebanon. You have the Houthis in Yemen. You have the Iraqi government can control, as the same as with Hezbollah in Lebanon. It's not the Lebanese government, but Hezbollah is bigger than the Lebanese army. Well, you have the same thing in Iraq.

Starting point is 00:06:20 The Iraqi resistance forces are bigger than the Iraqi army. So who's in control? So what I believe this Israeli general is saying is that they are now expecting a regional war where possibly three to four nations could be involved in this fight. And, you know, don't discount Syria. Syria may get involved in this battle also. I want to go on with this article. And he said, somehow, this is again the quote from the Israeli general, somehow the scope of the fire and the intensity is kept at a certain level that Israel manages to cope with. Even though the prices of what is happening in the North, the political and economic prices are quite high, he said. Another quote from this Jerusalem Post article, this again, Israeli General Zeev, quote, it

Starting point is 00:07:16 is clear that this is heading towards a more serious escalation. I don't think any of us really know, even within the security system, what exactly the Iranians and Hezbollah intend to do. And I think this is a very accurate assessment by this Israeli general. He's saying, you know, over the weekend, things have changed. We're heading into a more serious escalation. And none of us know what the Iranians and Hezbollah intend to do. How far will they go? Will it be a limited strike, or are they going to unleash everything they have in their arsenal? And that's the question that's going to be answered probably in the next 72 hours.

Starting point is 00:08:08 A BBC report, Israel's underground hospital prepares for attack. This is interesting. The Israelis have an underground parking deck that they converted into a hospital. It was designed that way. You have to give the Israelis credit for their ingenuity. The BBC report says, deep under the northern Israeli city of Hava, there is a vast underground hospital. Hundreds and hundreds of beds are lined up within its concrete walls. There are operating theaters, a maternity ward, and medical supplies stacked up in corners. Rambam Medical Center evacuated this bunker after the Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006.

Starting point is 00:08:57 The BBC said it's normally a multi-story car park, but it can be converted into a hospital in less than three days. The facility has more than 2,000 hospital beds. In the event of a major attack on Israel, it would take in existing patients from the overground medical center and other nearby hospitals. And there's room, too, to treat injured casualties, said the BBC.

Starting point is 00:09:28 Airlines are canceling flights not only to Israel but surrounding nations. This is an I-24 news report. I-24 is an Israeli television network. So the wave of cancellation continues. The airlines Ryanair, Aer Europa, and Germany's LaFontaine Group announced on Monday as today that the flight cancellations to Israel, which were in effect until Tuesday, will be extended. Ryanair canceled all flights to Tel Aviv until August 26. Notice this. We're now looking at the rest of the month of August.

Starting point is 00:10:15 There will be no flights from Europe with Ryanair going into Tel Aviv, Israel. And Germany's LaFlanza Group, which also includes Swiss, Austrian and Brussels airlines, has canceled all flights until August 21st. Europa canceled its flights to Tel Aviv until this Thursday, inclusive, said the I-24 report. So obviously, I don't think there are too many people trying to fly to the Middle East right now. The main traffic is going to be people trying to get out of the Middle East. Americans and Europeans, Asians who decided in the last minute, I better get out of here. I better go home. And also, I think Middle Easterners

Starting point is 00:11:06 who have passports and have visas to other countries probably are boarding planes right now, flying out of surrounding Israel, Jordan, the various Middle Eastern countries, particularly where the U.S. has military bases. So this is what you need to keep in mind. The countries that have U.S. military bases themselves could be targets. United Arab Emirates, Jordan, a number of countries have U.S. military bases. If this war becomes unmanageable and the U.S. starts pounding Iran, then you can expect Iran is going to hit U.S. military bases in the Middle East and U.S. naval assets in the sea. So I suspect that the airports in various Middle Eastern countries are very busy right now as the people that have both the awareness and the financial ability

Starting point is 00:12:22 and a passport in their hand and a visa, I believe those people are saying, I'm out of here. I'm leaving. I'm going to go someplace and ride out this war. Because if Iran hits the Dimona nuclear plant in Israel, which is Israel's major nuclear power plant and nuclear warhead facility. It's their Los Alamos. Not only is it a nuclear plant, it's their Los Alamos. Iran hits it with bunker-busting bombs and missiles that penetrate deep into the ground and utterly destroy the Damona power plant.

Starting point is 00:13:16 Then you're going to have radiation spread across the entire Middle East. I mean, the very next country is Jordan. You're going to have radiation going into Saudi Arabia, into Jordan, in all the surrounding countries. Obviously, Israel would be completely contaminated with radioactive dust. It would make those regions uninhabitable for hundreds of years. So that's what's at stake right now. And the people that I believe have the wisdom, and I'm talking about Middle Easterners, that have the wisdom to understand what's going on. They can discern the times.

Starting point is 00:14:03 They're looking at it and they're saying, this is extremely serious. They have a passport and they have visas. So you need a visa on top of a passport. Your passport may get you into some countries without a visa, but it's extremely limited. If you have a visa in hand that allows you someplace six months to two years, then you've increased your flexibility to stay somewhere until literally the dust settles, the radioactive dust settles. And you can ascertain, evaluate the situation in your homeland and around the world. So I think those people are fleeing the Middle East. That's my own opinion. I think that's happening. I've talked to some people that are leaving and who are just getting out of the region right now.

Starting point is 00:14:59 I know some people that are getting out of the Middle East this very hour as I'm talking. They are leaving. But here's the thing you're up against. The airlines are canceling the flights. And so you could have a plan to leave and then get to the airport and learn all flights have been canceled. And you're stranded. You're there. These are lessons for us in America.

Starting point is 00:15:28 It's something every one of us need to incorporate into our preparedness plans, that something happens that doesn't allow us to do what we thought we could do. In our case in America, it could be highways are closed, interstate highways locked down. What do you do if the entrance ramps and the exit ramps of highways are shut? How do you move about? These are the things you need to consider because life changes quickly when a war breaks out. The disciples asked Jesus about the end of the age. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you aren't troubled, for all this must happen, but the end is not yet, for nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines,

They've got their version of a new world order also. So that's what's taking place.
