Starting point is 00:01:23 at least we hope so. The two candidates will stop campaigning tonight. Millions of voters who have not yet voted will head to their respective voting precincts tomorrow. Will either candidate achieve a decisive victory tomorrow night? Or are we facing weeks, even months of debates, arguments and lawsuits over the election? I'm Rick Wiles. This is True News for Monday, November 4, 2024. Let's begin our analysis and commentary of today's news by looking at this NBC News report. The headline final NBC News poll.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Harris Trump race is neck and neck with significant gender gap. I'm not going to go into the details. Essentially, everything we need to know is in the headline. Right. The poll is showing, this NBC poll is showing Kamala Harris and Donald Trump tied. The significant news in this article is the significant gender gap. Far more women are voting for Kamala Harris than men,
Starting point is 00:02:35 and far more men are voting for Donald Trump than Kamala Harris. Huge gap. It's like 30 points. It's like a 30-point spread. Very unusual. Now, I would say that most likely
Starting point is 00:02:51 the pro-Harris female vote is driven by abortion. Probably, yes. And the pro-Trump vote is driven by immigration and crime and economy. The key thing I want to talk about right now is, you know, we're seeing these polls.
Starting point is 00:03:15 We're hearing the polls. If you turn on television, news channels, they're all talking about polls. And, you know, will Trump win? Will Harris win? Doc, none of these polls matter first of all the vast majority of the voters have already voted that's right what does it matter what the polls say i voted weeks ago you voted weeks ago yes if something came out detrimental to the candidate that you voted for or the one I voted for. I'm out of luck. What are you going to do about it?
Starting point is 00:03:50 If you wanted to change your vote, what could you do about it? Not a thing at this point. But if somebody called you and said, we're taking a poll, who would you vote for today? You might give a different name than the person you voted for. That's true. So these polls, I think, would only matter if they are polling people who have not yet voted. And I've never seen this in any of the polls. It says, you know, among voters who have not voted, this is where it stands right now. Also, keep in mind, polls are snapshots of the collective thinking of a sampling of voters.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Five to 10,000 people. It's a snapshot of where they were at last week. At least four, five, six days ago. Right. These numbers are weak. Really are weak. They're old. It's last week.
Starting point is 00:04:43 It's not where they're at today. It has happened in the past week. Right. A lot has happened. So if you have a lot of voters who are undecided, whatever they said to a pollster a week ago may not be true today. That's why I don't pay attention to these polls. The thing to look at are the early voting returns all right that's the key right now because that's telling us if the people are voting according to their party they could be tickets
Starting point is 00:05:15 we don't know fox news says early voting numbers are scary for kamala harris Democrats are panicking. This is according to a former Obama campaign manager, Jim Messina. He actually said this on MSNBC. This is a Fox News article, which is reporting on what he said on MSNBC. It says that Jim Messina said on MSNBC Sunday that the early voting numbers are scary for the Harris campaign, as data shows Republicans making significant gains with early voting in battleground states compared to 2020. Let's watch. Biggest concern right now, if you're the Harris team. Well, look, I think it's a couple of things. The early vote numbers are a little scary. And you and I have been texting back and forth. Republicans didn't do what they did last time.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Last time, Trump said, don't early vote. And so they didn't. Republicans do have an advantage in early vote numbers. When the early vote come in, it's going to look a little bit different than 2020. And that's scary. But when you kind of dig into the numbers, the numbers that I care the most about are two blocks, women voters and young voters. And those two voting blocks are coming big, Jen. Women voters make up 55% of the early voters.
Starting point is 00:06:39 And in the past 10 days, young voters in these battleground states are coming out in what looks to be, for early votes, historic numbers. And that makes the Harris campaign very, very happy. But when you look at some of the early vote numbers, it has led lots of your friends and my friends to call me panicking. So the high turnout of female voters, 55% of the early voters are women. If you assume that they're voting for abortion, that's not good for Donald Trump. That's good for Kamala Harris.
Starting point is 00:07:15 Now, they could be voting on the economy, inflation. They could be voting on crime, the immigration issue. We don't know. But we know that 55 of the early voters are female so it's it's difficult to predict which way this election is going but i'll show you some some uh another one this is new york post posters are overlooking massive shift that could predict a donald election, according to a strategist. Right. So this article from the New York Post that came out today say posters have been getting it wrong in the final days of the 2024 presidential race by overlooking what they're describing as a massive shift in voter registration since the last election,
Starting point is 00:08:04 which could tip the scales in favor of former President Donald Trump on Tuesday. This has come from Alex Castellanos, who has worked on campaigns for Jeb Bush and Mitt Romney, saying that the polls would show a razor-thin margin between President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are disregarding a wavelet out there of Republican enthusiasm. And we have this soundbite from this interview. Let's watch. Over and over again, there isn't even statistical variation. You know, 95 percent confidence level means that five percent of the time you're going to get a crappy poll. We hardly ever see that. It's like they're telling us we're watching a basketball game where every play is a jump ball. Somebody is missing something. What I think they're missing is a massive shift in voter registration underneath all of this. 31 states have voter registration
Starting point is 00:09:02 by party. 30 of them in the past four years have seen movement toward Republicans. Miami-Dade County is now voting more Republican. Iowa was plus one Republican. It's now plus 10. And yet we're getting these surveys that I think are off base. Somewhere, somebody is missing something. I think there's, I'm not going to call it a wave, but I think there's a wavelet out there of Republican enthusiasm and registration. If I register to vote Republican, whether I'm switching or new, what am I going to do? He's got a point, Doc. And this is what we're seeing across the country. High numbers of new voters registering as Republican here in the state of Florida. Florida has a million more Republicans in this election than we did the last election.
Starting point is 00:09:53 A million. So obviously those voters are going to show up and they're going to vote for Donald Trump. I'm going to run through some headlines just to give you an idea of what's happening out there. Tallahassee, Florida. this is the Tallahassee Democrat newspaper, Florida Republicans outvote Democrats by nearly 1 million in early voting. Well, Doc, how are the Democrats going to catch up tomorrow in Florida? There are a million votes behind. They've got to bring out an a million votes behind. They've got to bring out an extra million votes tomorrow just to catch up.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Right, I understand that. But isn't this election interference, though, right here? Really, isn't it? Because they're reporting that, oh, well, Democrats are a million behind. So that's going to be a signal to the Democrats to come out in waves and vote tomorrow, right? Well, I could argue that it could also enthuse Republicans for even more Republicans to come out and say, hey, look, we're doing so great.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Let's do more. Let's do more. Another one. This is KXAN, Austin, Texas. Texas Republicans lead early turnout by more than a million. Again, that's the state of Texas. Next one. This is Fox 8, Greensboro, North Carolina. Republicans lead in early voter turnout in North Carolina. Nevada. Here's the Reno Gazette Journal newspaper.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Nevada Republicans hold 50,000 ballot lead over Democrats after end of early voting. Doc, that's just as early voting ended in Nevada. Right. 50,000 vote lead in Nevada. Again, the Democrats are going into tomorrow's election with a deficit. So they've got to play catch-up. They've got to find 50,000 votes just to get caught up to even, let alone swing the state into Kamala Harris' corner. Whenever you see numbers like that, it's bad news for the party that's behind.
Starting point is 00:12:07 Because it's like a basketball game. I mean, if you're 30 points behind and there's five minutes left in the game, what are the odds you're going to win? Well, they're against you, but, I mean, it's still a possibility. It's a possibility. But what are the odds?
Starting point is 00:12:22 They're high. Right. That's the point I'm making. Newsweek. Now, this is on the reverse for Donald Trump. Donald Trump gets bad news from two early voting trends in Pennsylvania. And that is, I believe, senior citizens, which they believe are voting against him. I don't know why they're thinking that. And also women voters, which they're assuming are voting for Kamala Harris. And I
Starting point is 00:12:54 don't think the Republicans have a very strong lead in Pennsylvania in terms of early voting. So Pennsylvania is one of those states where he needs all the help he can get, which is, remember weeks ago or two weeks ago, remember the Puerto Rico thing? I said, there's a quarter million Puerto Ricans in Pennsylvania. And you put this no-name comedian at the top of your, opening up your rally. And trashes Puerto Ricans. and trashes puerto ricans literally trashes puerto ricans uh and so if it cost you uh 30 40 000 votes in pennsylvania is it worth it is that guy is comedy is it worth it again that guy should never never work again as a comedian. And then, Doc, by far, the campaign ended not with what is going to be the most memorable image of the end of this campaign. Is it Donald Trump at a rally?
Starting point is 00:14:03 Is it Kamala Harris? Is it Joe Biden? No. It's going to be a squirrel in a cowboy hat. A squirrel in a cowboy hat. For those of you who don't know about this, there's a squirrel that's famous on Instagram. He was raised... Well, he was. They was raised from a pup. They found him laying on the ground, and they raised a squirrel. And they dressed him up in clothes, put hats on him and everything, post videos on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:14:32 His name was Peanut. Peanut. Peanut the squirrel. State of New York. Right. And then what happened? Well, over the past few days, the state of New York decided that Peanut the squirrel didn't need to have an Instagram account or a hat or even to breathe any further and was euthanized or actually taken by force. They sent a SWAT team to this man's house.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Yes. A SWAT team to take down a squirrel. Yes. What was the justification for the SWat team probably health reasons or whatever it might be what but it was a squirrel so if my understanding is it's illegal in the state of new york to have a pet squirrel living in your house you can have a pet squirrel outside but you can't have a pet squirrel inside so the state, I don't know if it was wildlife authorities, health officials, raided this man's home. Literally a SWAT team to seize the squirrel.
Starting point is 00:15:37 And then they euthanized it. The squirrel was... Killed it. Let's don't dress it up. They killed the squirrel. They went in and they killed the squirrel because it was against the law to have a squirrel living in a house. What does that tell you about the Democrats
Starting point is 00:15:52 who run the state of New York? If they'll kill a squirrel, they'll kill you too. And they did during COVID. They killed thousands of senior citizens in nursing homes with COVID. And of all the things we could be talking about here as we head to the final day tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:16:09 We're talking about Peanut the Squirrel. A squirrel with a cowboy hat on. Scott Jennings addressed this in a roundtable on CNN. Just watch this. Well, I'm here tonight to speak on behalf of Peanut the Squirrel. God rest his tiny soul. Not since the squirrel that was taught to water ski has a squirrel caught the nation's attentions like this one. Now, this squirrel was squirrel napped and murdered by the state of New York and absurd abuse of government overreach. There are 40 million rats or something in New
Starting point is 00:16:43 York, and they executed the only one trained to wear a cowboy hat and had an Instagram account. My condolences to Mark Longo, who cared for Peanut for seven years. And to the cowardly neighbors who filed the complaints about Mr. Longo's animals, which also included Fred the raccoon, I ask, why are you the way that you are?
Starting point is 00:17:02 I hope you're happy, you monsters. RIP Peanut. Rest.P. Peanut. Rest in peace, Peanut. Of all the things wrong in the state of New York, there are murderers, rapists, violent criminals roaming the streets. 40 million rats. 40 million rats, and they murdered a squirrel. Whatever happened to common sense?
Starting point is 00:17:27 Like somebody from the wildlife agency knocking on the door saying, sir, we understand you have a squirrel that lives here. Just the conversation that exists. Someone actually coming to your door saying, we've been informed. Someone ratted you out on your squirrel. There's a squirrel that has a social media account, and we've been told the squirrel lives here. Is that true? I mean, so if it's against the state law to have a squirrel, what happened to common sense of simply having a state official saying, sir, look. You may not know this.
Starting point is 00:18:06 Legally, you're not allowed to have a squirrel in your house. Peanut's got to live outside. You can build him a little house out here. He's got to have a tree. He's got to go. I'm just doing my job. All right. You can't have a squirrel.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Whatever happened to that, Doc? Why a SWAT team? Why murder a squirrel in a cowboy hat? To me, why am I talking about this? Because it speaks of the insanity. And the overreach of government. Of government. Whatever permission you give the government, they will reach beyond that.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Always. If they're willing to murder a squirrel wearing a cowboy hat, what will they do to you? That's the question we should ask. Now, that leads us into this next story. This is KING Channel 5 in Seattle. Washington governor activates National Guard ahead of Election Day. Whoa, what's this about? Aren't we just doing our patriotic duty, voting for president?
Starting point is 00:19:08 Why do we have to call out the National Guard? Oh, because we have Antifa in the state of Washington? Right. Is that why? Well, they've already set a couple ballot boxes on fire. Ahead of Election Day, Governor Jay Inslee is activating the Washington National Guard to be on standby as a precautionary measure. This comes in the wake of two ballot box arsons in Portland and Vancouver. The late October incidents destroyed hundreds of ballots and officials are still, they're still searching for a suspect, Rick. Inslee said some members of the state National
Starting point is 00:19:41 Guard will support local law enforcement and the Washington State Patrol. Though the number of members will be activated is to be determined, National Guard members will be on standby from Monday through Thursday night. And so Governor Inslee calling out the National Guard. But who is likely to be violent in Washington? In Washington, the leftists in the state of Washington, the leftists in the state of Washington, all right?
Starting point is 00:20:12 But think about, you know, a week or two ago, we showed the video in D.C. The 12 military helicopters doing a drill of evacuating the U.S. Congress. There was no news coverage of it, Doc? Nope. Not at all. Nobody.
Starting point is 00:20:28 I've talked to so many people. Where did you hear that? Where did you see it? I'll show you the news article. I'll show you the video. Well, I didn't see that on TV. I didn't read about it. Oh, it must not be real then, right?
Starting point is 00:20:38 Is that what you're saying? You didn't see it on TV? Apparently so. But this article goes back to september this is a washington post article scarred by violence lawmakers plan for possible mass casualty event is that the purpose of the drill last week to evacuate to congress you know i didn't make the connection until you just said that. Yes, that's what I see, Doc. They're prepping for a mass casualty event inside the Congress, and now they've got to evacuate 535 members or the ones that are remaining alive. Let's see what the Washington Post said in
Starting point is 00:21:21 September. Well, this is coming from the Post here. It says, imagine the unthinkable, a mass shooting of members of Congress that leaves a large swath of the country unrepresented and shifts the balance of political power in Washington. In the current political environment, the Washington Post says, such an outbreak of violence is not as unthinkable as it used to be, according to a bipartisan collection of House members. The attempted assassination of members at a congressional baseball team practice back in 2017, the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, a dramatic spike in threats against members, and most recently, this was before the second assassination attempt was confirmed, a possible second assassination attempt against
Starting point is 00:22:06 former President Donald Trump, all highlight the need for Congress to ensure that it can continue to govern in the aftermath of mass violence. And to address such a scenario, these four House members, two Republicans and two Democrats, are pushing an unlikely solution, a constitutional amendment that would allow members to be replaced quickly in the event of a mass casualty event. Tom, did you read what this plan is? Oh, yes. Yeah. I read this back in September. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Let's take a look. I saw this over the weekend. I did not see this. I may have been in. I think you were in North Carolina. I think it was the week I was in Myrtle Beach. Yeah. And so read what Congressman Kilmer and Congressman Winstrop and Congressman Timmons and Congressman Cleaver have come up with.
Starting point is 00:23:01 This is their plan. If there's a mass casualty event and a number of House and Senate members are killed, we have a plan now. We have a plan. The Constitution provides a way to replace members of the House and the Senate. The House, there must be a special election. The Senate, vacancies in the Senate, each state can decide how it replaces. Sometimes it's a special election. Sometimes it's the governor appointing a senator who serves until the next regular election. But in the House, there's a special election. And I think, I don't know if the U.S.s constitution i think it's within 49 days 45 days
Starting point is 00:23:47 usually it's a very tight schedule you know window but these congress members congressional members they have a plan to replace the the way the current constitution provides for the appointment of new members of the House and the Senate if somebody dies or resigns. Right. So now listen to what they say. So these four representatives have come up with a plan. Their proposed constitutional amendment would require each member of the House to submit
Starting point is 00:24:17 the names of at least five individuals from his or her political party to the state's governor. In the event of that representative's death, the governor would choose a name from the list within 10 days, and the House Speaker would be required to seat them immediately. Okay. So Congressman, let's just pick a name, Congressman Smith of the 4th Congressional District gives a list of, what, 10 names?
Starting point is 00:24:47 It says at least five. Five names. Gives the names of five of his cronies, his friends. Could be his son. Could be his wife. Right. Could be his squirrel, Peanut. Okay?
Starting point is 00:25:00 Gives the names to the governor and says, if I die, you have to choose one of these people, not the voters. Why can't we have an emergency election? Why can't we have a special election? Why can't we follow the Constitution? That's what I'm saying. Why do these guys want to change the Constitution? They're taking the power to fill a vacancy away from the voters and putting
Starting point is 00:25:27 it in the hands of the politicians and so that person would then serve the remainder of that term until the next regular election if it's a house member could serve almost two years if it's a senate member could serve almost six years. That's right. Without an election. Yes. And the vacancy filled by, literally filled by the dead politician. Because the deceased politician has submitted names to the governor. And the governor would be required by the Constitution to choose from those names. Right. would be required by the Constitution to choose from those names. Now, this continuity amendment, as it's being called, would also deny a would-be assassin
Starting point is 00:26:08 the power to flip control of the House from one party to another. That's coming from Congressman Kilmer. That's what it's about. Yes. There it is. There it is right there. If somebody wouldn't shoot 10 members of one party. Let's say there's a five-member spread between which party controls the House.
Starting point is 00:26:35 And 10 of those are killed of one party. That would flip the control of the House. Yes. That's what it's all about. Right. That an assassin could deliberately take out members of the House or the Senate and flip control of that body to another political party. I don't know if you've heard about it. This is the first I've heard about it. It was over the weekend. I know Doc had found this back in September, but this is new to me. But just keep in mind, a week or two ago, there were black helicopters.
Starting point is 00:27:09 Yes. They look black to me. I guess black helicopters do exist in Washington. And there were 12 of them landing and taking off from the Capitol grounds. In a drill. In a mock evacuation of the House and Senate. Dmitry Medvedev, former president of Russia, said Trump could become a second JFK, not in terms of his presidency, but in his death. Medvedev said he speculated that President Trump could be assassinated as president.
Starting point is 00:27:48 This is the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia has alluded that should the Republican be elected U.S. president and try to stop the Ukrainian war, he could be assassinated. This is what he posted on Telegram. So he said the world is frozen in awkward poses ahead of the elections of the president of the overseas Pindostan. He's referring to us, this country, as Pindostan now, Rick. We have no reason for any inflated expectations. He goes on to say, the elections will not change anything for Russia,
Starting point is 00:28:21 since the candidates' positions fully reflect the bipartisan consensus on the need for our country to be defeated. Kamala is stupid, inexperienced, controllable, and will be afraid of everyone around her. The most important ministers and assistants will rule, plus indirectly the Obama family. The tired Trump, issuing platitudes like, I will offer a deal, I have excellent relations with, will also be forced to comply with all the system rules. He will not be able to stop the war, not in a day, not in three days, not in three months. And if he really tries, he could become the new JFK. Only one thing matters, how much money the new POTUS, President of the United States, will knock out for someone else's distant war, for their military-industrial complex, and for the Bandera scum to carve up.
Starting point is 00:29:12 And it goes on to say, therefore, the best way to make November 5th pleasant for the candidates for the highest American post is to continue to smash the Kiev Nazi regime. So the Russians are not expecting anything to change, regardless of who wins. What he's saying is, if Kamala Harris wins, we know the war is going to continue as usual. If Donald Trump wins, he's going to try to stop it, but the military-industrial complex will take him out. Yes. going to try to stop it, but the military-industrial complex will take him out. And in order to avoid being assassinated, Donald Trump will gradually give in to them and continue the war. So the Russians are saying, we're just planning on fighting. That's their solution.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Yeah. Their solution is we're just going to destroy the Nazis in Ukraine. I want to remind you about Gold Co. The world is extremely unstable, folks. It is enormously unstable. And the financial system is under assault. The world order is splitting apart. You and I are living through an incredible historical moment when the world order is splitting. We have been in a new world order since World War II, since the end of World War II.
Starting point is 00:30:36 That was the new world order. That world order, which produced the dollar, the U.S. dollar as the reserve currency, produced the IMF, the World Bank, all those financial institutions, that world order is now breaking apart. And a new, new world order is forming, and it appears that it will consist of multiple power structures. It won't be just the United States, the West. It may be the West plus Russia plus China. It could be another block that we don't know about.
Starting point is 00:31:16 But it will at least be two blocks, West and East. No doubt about it. That's happening right now. The BRICS nations are actively, they've been doing it for years. They've been building an alternative financial architecture that they are rolling out. And, you know, Mr. Putin said a couple weeks ago at the BRICS conference, he goes, we're not trying to take down the dollar. But they don't want us in. They don't want us in the club.
Starting point is 00:31:47 So we're simply building an alternative. We'll start our own club. Start our own club. Okay. What does that mean for you? For you and me, it says life will not be the same economically in the years going ahead as it has been in the years past. And so you have to look at it and conclude that there is no way, just absolutely no way, that the financial system is going to remain in place. There will be major changes in the years ahead. So a wise person says, I see it happening.
Starting point is 00:32:27 I've got to take action. What can I do? Well, what's the one action that we see all these other countries doing? And I'm talking about Russia and China, India. So they're buying gold. They've been buying tons of gold for years. Why? Doc, they've had a plan. They've had a plan. They've had a plan for, I believe since the 2008 financial crisis. We're going to build a new system. It's going to be gold-backed.
Starting point is 00:32:57 And I believe that's why they've been buying tons of gold for many years. So that leaves each of us with the question, what are we doing for our own personal finances? That's why we'd encourage you to call Gold Co. and just talk to them. You don't have to make a decision. You don't have to make a commitment. Just call them. You can't lose by calling. There's nothing, they're not going to charge you just to call and talk to them call them and ask them questions about owning gold and silver the number is 844-960-GOLD 844-960-GOLD
Starting point is 00:33:38 and the website truenews4gold.com of course, the QR code there on the screen. And don't forget to ask them for the 2025 Gold and Silver Kit. It's free. They'll send it to you. No postage charge. Just ask for it. Educate yourself about gold. And also ask them if you qualify for the instant 10% match on silver purchase.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Just ask them. I don't know what the details are. I know it's a significant purchase. You can't buy just one or two coins. There's a minimum that you need to buy. I don't know what it is, but you can ask the folks at GoCo if you qualify for an instant 10% match. It means whatever you buy, they're matching it.
Starting point is 00:34:30 10%. They're going to do a 10% match. Check them out. Gold Co. 844-960-GOLD. Now, let's swing our attention over to, oh, one more election story. Look at this one, Doc. The Post.
Starting point is 00:34:48 That's not the Washington Post. That's not the New York Post. That's the Jerusalem Post uncovers a potentially illegal U.S. ballot harvesting scheme in where? In Jerusalem. In Jerusalem, in Tel Aviv, in Israel. They're harvesting ballots in Israel to be counted in America. I'm not making it up, folks. I got it out of a Jewish newspaper.
Starting point is 00:35:17 It's got to be true. It's got to be real. That's right. It's in the Jerusalem Post today. Doc, I didn't know this stuff goes on. I'm so naive about a lot of these. I didn't know they did this kind of stuff. It was news to me, although it's not surprising.
Starting point is 00:35:31 A potentially illegal ballot harvesting scheme has been taking place in central Israel ahead of the U.S. presidential election tomorrow. And this is according to a Jerusalem Post investigation. Ballot harvesting, for those that don't know, is a process in which completed absentee ballots are collected and taken by a third party to a polling office, which should not happen at all, but it does. It is strictly prohibited in at least six U.S. states, with many others placing partial limits on ballot submissions. Now, the organizer of this particular operation, I Vote Israel, advertises itself as a group of American olim, or immigrants, who share concern for the future of America and promote voting by Americans living in Israel as part of their civic duty and as a way to exercise their rights. So these are dual citizens. These are Americans who moved to Israel and obtained Israeli citizenship, yet they retain
Starting point is 00:36:30 their American passports. Right. And yet they live in Israel. Yes. But they're voting in America. That's right. Now, while I Vote Israel claims to encourage voters to submit their ballots, concerns have been raised that the group is offering a potentially illegal service by collecting the absentee ballots en masse.
Starting point is 00:36:49 When a potential user of iVoteIsrael calls its hotline, a message gives various drop-off spots in central Israel. It also provides the names of the families at those addresses. Further research revealed the identities of some of those individuals. Now, the drop-off spot in Jerusalem's Sanhedrin neighborhood is a property owned by Kayim and Simi Molinovich. Now, Kayim, who passed away in 2019, was a father of 10 and a well-known Haredi rabbi. He was also a Talmudic scholar and the general editor of an edition of the Babylonian Talmud published by ArtSchool. And he's in charge of it. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:28 So, now, the particular drop-off spot in Jerusalem's Rehavia neighborhood is owned by Rabbi Yitzhak Kardav Kerkowski, the director of OU Kosher in Israel. He was a field representative for the OU in 2009 before he became its director. Now, the drop-off spot in Beit Shemesh belongs to Yonah Kaufman, a member of the city council. He's in charge of its health, aliyah, and absorption portfolios. And mentions one more drop-off spot in Gevat Ze'ev, north of Jerusalem, is owned by Nechamiah and Naama Malinovich. I, you know, it seems to me, as I read through the story earlier today, that how can you determine the chain of custody on these ballots?
Starting point is 00:38:14 You can't. It's in another country. Right. And it appears these are just private citizens doing this over there. I mean, there's no election official from the U.S over there. I mean, there's no election official from the U.S. We've lost control of our
Starting point is 00:38:29 voting. We've lost control of it. There are various reasons that Americans are in another country during election time. It could be your employment. You may be assigned to another country. That's where you're living for the season. You could be on a business trip. You could be in the military. By the way, I understand the Pentagon forgot to send ballots out to our military. That's what I
Starting point is 00:38:57 heard. They forgot to send the ballots out to active members of the military. But people in Israel can just drop off their ballot with a rabbi. A Talmudic rabbi. A Talmudic rabbi, and it's considered safe and secure. What's the chain of custody here? Yeah, and you've got to think that those citizens in Israel who vote in U.S. elections, they're not all from one single district. They're from a variety of districts around the country. And yet all these ballots are being collected and being shipped back to the U.S. by private citizens. Where do they go? Yeah, where do they mail them to?
Starting point is 00:39:41 I mean, there are so many questions here. Doc, that's a good question. Who's the recipient in the United States? Because they should be sent to respective districts. Yes. All right. So now we know there's a Talmudic ballot harvesting operation going on in this election. Who do you think they favor?
Starting point is 00:40:06 Folks, just get real. Who do you think this Talmudic ballot harvesting operation favors? Some of you don't want to answer it. I'll just let you chew on it. I'm going to switch over from politics to some very disturbing weather conditions that have been taking place in Europe, particularly in Spain. Spain has been hit by just catastrophic rain. I mean, it's just been horrific downpours for days in Spain. And they've got another one on the way.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Another one? And they're sending out messages on phones warning the people of, you know, catastrophic rain on the way. I'm going to show you some, what we're going to show you here first, I think, is most of it's going to be in Barcelona. So here's Sky News. Extreme danger red alert for Barcelona. Warns of more rain on the way
Starting point is 00:41:08 with Spain still reeling from deadly floods. I've been in Barcelona many times. It's a wonderful city. If you ever get a chance to visit, go there. I've been there because we attend the Mobile World Congress Expo that's held every year in Barcelona. But it is just a beautiful Spanish city.
Starting point is 00:41:30 And so I saw the videos today, Doc. I was shocked. So this is the Barcelona airport. I've been in that airport many times. That is just hard to believe. I just, like, can't imagine. This is inside the airport. This is just incredible video to know we've been there, Rick.
Starting point is 00:41:49 We've been at these security check-ins. We've been at these counters here. People are just sloshing through water inside the airport. There's that much rain coming down. Here's the outside of the airport. That's the runway, folks. And some additional scenes in Barcelona itself here. We've been on those streets, Rick,
Starting point is 00:42:11 and it is just hard to comprehend the amount of water that they're experiencing there. But that's just the beginning of it. But it's been raining for days in Spain, and some of the other cities that have been hit, you know, it's just devastating flooding. Especially Valencia. This next one is, did we show 18? Not yet. Okay, 18. This is Euronews.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Do not travel unless strictly necessary. Chaos at Barcelona Airport has terminal and runway flooded. We've got some video here showing the rescues. And just look at this. Right. So this gives you some idea of the amount of flooding in Valencia. Watch this, Rick, if you haven't seen it yet. I did.
Starting point is 00:43:01 This guy is directing the water into the canal. Right, but he's using the bucket of this machinery here. He's going to be rescuing people who are trapped on the roof there. I didn't see that part. I didn't see him rescue anybody. Oh, yeah, as he moves along here, how that thing was able to stand against the flow of the water and everything. And he's going to lift the bucket here in just a moment. Great man. And put a whole family in the bucket of the machinery there.
Starting point is 00:43:34 What a hero. And so, incredible story. See the little kid being put in there and everything. And mom and dad will be getting there in just a moment. And he ends up taking that tractor back out. Wow, Doc, that guy's a hero. He is, definitely. And so this gives you the— He risked his own life to save those people.
Starting point is 00:43:55 That's right. And so just amazing video there that shows both the impact of the flood and also the rescue events that are underway. Other video, though, that we see here, and this is a very dramatic video here, where flash flooding caught cars and drivers completely unaware. There are people going down the street on top of their cars, Rick. Look at that. Hanging on to the top of their cars because flash flooding caught a lot of people unaware so it's
Starting point is 00:44:26 not a matter of them i've never seen anything like that i've never seen people on the roof of their cars and the water taking the cars away right it's just incredible video here that we're watching the the next video we're going to show you let me before uh let me set it up up before we show it. So King Felipe of Spain went out into the city of Valencia, which was hard hit. I have personally seen King Felipe every time I've gone to Barcelona. Right. He always attends the Mobile World Congress. I've seen him every time I've gone there. He's a very tall man, very distinguished.
Starting point is 00:45:08 And he always makes an appearance at Mobile World. So he went out into the streets to show his concern. But the people turned on him. Keep in mind, this is the king of Spain. The people were furious. They they were angry and they turned on him they pelted him with mud and eggs and threw rocks at him his bodyguards were trying to shield him let's watch so this is uh king philippe in the streets of valencia uh and you can see some of the stuff being thrown at the king uh Prime Minister's in the crowd there, too.
Starting point is 00:45:45 We'll have some additional video on that here in just a moment. The king is the tall man there that was under the umbrella. That's him right there with the beard. But to see that the people of Valencia were very angry and upset because of the response of the government, or lack of response, what they perceived to be, regarding the flooding there. Because they're saying the government did not respond they uh that people died they suffered they've been waiting days for help right and so they were killer yeah they were they were perceiving the king as saying you're just here for a photo op yeah you don't care about us you're just here to
Starting point is 00:46:21 have your picture taken now but i've never doc in my lifetime, I can't ever recall seeing a mob turn on a king. Yes, that's dramatic. I've seen it on politicians, but not a king. That's the kind of stuff where, you know, when you read history of mobs going into the palace and dragging the king out and chopping his head off, that's how it happens. Yeah, the flood of 1358, and they came in and killed the king. No, we're seeing history being made here. Now, not only was the king the target of a lot of insults and mudslinging, literal mud, the prime minister, Pedro Sanchez, when he arrived, look at the way people are responding. This is the Prime Minister's vehicle.
Starting point is 00:47:09 They actually attempted to get into the vehicle. And so people are very, very upset there, as you can tell, and using whatever they have at hand to attack. This is also the prime minister. Right. So this is a different video from before. There's some duplication, but you see some of the rocks and mud being thrown at both the royal family and at the prime minister. So it's just they're so frustrated, Rick, with the lack of response there.
Starting point is 00:47:48 But the king and queen did make an effort to try to comfort people, and they went among the crowd. They finally got to some people that they could calm down and tell them, no, we're here, we care. And there's the queen hugging somebody. And very tense situation. There's the king hugging a young man. You know, he's actually well-liked. So for them to turn against him like that, Doc, was unusual. And did you see on his jacket, on the king's jacket, all the places where the mud had hit him?
Starting point is 00:48:24 No. Yeah. So there were people throwing mud at the king. jacket all the places where the mud had hit him no yeah so he did he there were people throwing mud at the king oh yeah the king of spain and so uh historical story there history being made folks it's it's history being made a king in europe pelted with mud and rocks and eggs all right his life was in danger because the people were that angry. Now think about Asheville and all of the places hit by a hurricane. Imagine a crowd turning against Lindsey Graham or any other politician. That's how angry the people were. They were saying, we're fed up.
Starting point is 00:49:04 You've left us here. You haven't taken care of us. You're here to get your picture taken, and you're going to leave, and we're still going to be stuck in this mud. Yeah, and that's the way it was after Helene, wasn't it? Yes. I've only got seven minutes. I'm going to have to go through some headlines quickly here.
Starting point is 00:49:21 Mercury News, Mercury, California. Mask mandates back at san francisco bay area health care facilities alameda santa clara san mateo contra costa counties all now have mask mandates at hospitals and health clinics welcome back the the democrats are they're regaining their mojo doc i guess they're so confident about mask mojo huh they got their mask mojo i guess they're so confident about the election they're gonna roll out mass mandates remember tim waltz remember what he did in minnesota oh yeah he had a little ss troops marching down the street telling people to get inside.
Starting point is 00:50:06 You're not allowed outside. You can't leave your house. He had little SS soldiers marching down the street, threatening people. Janhap, let's do World War III. 7,000 North Korean troops deployed near border with Ukraine, armed with rifles and mortars, according to Yonhap. And the next one is Bloomberg. Yes, look at this. Ukraine attacks North Korean troops deployed near Russia border. Folks, it's going to get out of hand real fast.
Starting point is 00:50:39 Ukraine said it engaged North Korean troops for the first time since they were sent into Russia's Kursk region on the border in a deployment Western partners have called an escalation of the Kremlin's war. The first North Korean troops have already come under fire in the Kursk region. That's coming from Andrei Kovalenko, the head of the anti-disinformation body within Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council. He said, we're working and we will be destroying the Russians, the North Korean soldiers, and anyone who will threaten Ukraine. That's coming from Zelensky, the military commander-in-chief, Alexander Zelensky, speaking after the meeting on his Telegram channel. So if those reports are true, of course, that's coming from the Minister of Disinformation. If that's true.
Starting point is 00:51:24 Isn't it interesting? The Minister of Disinformation. If that's true. Isn't it interesting? The Minister of Disinformation. If that's true. Who would believe a Minister of Disinformation? If those reports are true, then this marks a major turning point because now it brings North Korea into this conflict officially. Well, they're in it. Yeah. But the first drop of blood of North Korean soldiers
Starting point is 00:51:48 will greatly intensify this war. Kim Jong-un will not. Yeah, if body bags start showing up in North Korea from Ukraine and Russia. Sergei Lavrov told a sci-fi conference that NATO plans to
Starting point is 00:52:03 organize defensive battles in other parts of the world. It's interesting. He's at a sci-fi conference in Russia. Go ahead, Doc. Yeah, the North Atlantic Alliance intends to conduct defensive battles in the Asian Pacific region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. He said this at the International Science Fiction Symposium, Creating the Future. He said in July at a summit in Washington, the leaders of NATO countries confirmed their claims to the leading role of the alliance, not only in the Euro-At to conduct these defensive battles both in the south china sea and in the taiwan strait a thousand miles from its
Starting point is 00:52:51 shores the minister said hey just because atlantic is in nato's name doesn't mean that limits it that's where the atlantic's a big ocean yes all the water is connected. It bumps up to the Pacific somewhere. Russia today, U.S. and U.K. pushing continental Europe to fight Russia. Right, and this is also Sergei Lavrov. He says the U.S. and U.K. are setting up continental Europe for a military face-off with Russia. He said, speaking about the Ukraine conflict, the top diplomats trust that the Anglo-Saxons, and it includes the U.S. and U.K. in that, expect to defeat our country with the hands of the Kiev regime,
Starting point is 00:53:34 just like Hitler gathering most of Europe's countries under the Nazi banner. And as a backup plan in case Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky's regime fails, they are preparing continental Europe to rush into a suicidal adventure and enter into a direct armed conflict with Russia. And he called these proposals absolutely reckless. One more. This is Al Arabiya, United States and Moscow on the brink of a direct conflict. He gave an interview to a Turkish newspaper, Ariat Daily. harriet daly and he said under the administration joe biden um who has taken the downward spiral russia phobia in the u.s to its logical conclusion our countries are on the brink of a direct
Starting point is 00:54:14 military conflict folks pay attention to this this is the secretary of state of russia saying we are on the verge of a direct war between Russia and the United States. Starting point is 00:58:16 We're in the 26th chapter of the Gospel according to St. Matthew. And today we will focus on verses 6 through 13. Let's pray. Dear Gracious Father, we come to you with thanksgiving and praise. We are deeply grateful that our sins are forgiven and our names are written in your book of life. Father, we give you glory and honor and praise. Father, we're hungry for your word. We desire to be taught, and we invite the Holy Spirit to take his seat at the head of this Bible study class and teach us the beauty of your word. In the name of Jesus, amen. Amen and amen. And good to have you here with us on a Monday morning as
Starting point is 00:59:01 we start a brand new week. Some of you here very early today because you weren't aware of the time change, and so I'd love to have you here. And so there were some people showing up at 7 o'clock this morning, Rick. Oh, well, yes, I'm sure, outside of the USA. Yes, so, but here we are. We forgot to mention that Friday. We are in Matthew chapter 26 as we are in the final chapters of Matthew here. I'm reading verses 6 through 13 from the King James. If you've got your Bibles, please read along with me here today.
Starting point is 00:59:42 Verse 6, Now when Jesus was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, there came unto him a woman having an alabaster box, a very precious ointment, imported on his head as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for much and given to the poor. When jesus understood it he said unto them why trouble ye the woman for she hath wrought a good work upon me for you have the poor always with you but me you have not always for in that she hath poured this ointment on my body she did it for my burial verily i say unto you wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world there shall also this that this woman h done, be told for a memorial of her.
Starting point is 01:00:30 God bless the reading of his word. Amen. Verse 6, now when Jesus was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper. Very obvious where this is taking place, in the village the town of bethany which is approximately two miles outside of jerusalem this was uh before his final entry into jerusalem so this is a a pivotal moment leading to the Passion. Jesus was hosted for dinner by Simon, identified as the leper. So, I think we can assume that Simon held this dinner out of his gratitude.
Starting point is 01:01:34 He was expressing to Jesus his gratitude, his thanksgiving for the healing. I mean, what disease can be as horrific as leprosy? And to be set free of it. Praise God. Yes. Simon was always aware that Jesus Christ healed his body. He was grateful. And so he held his dinner. So this is taking place, as I said, in the town of Bethany, just outside of Jerusalem. And we know that
Starting point is 01:02:10 from the other gospel accounts, we know that the people in attendance included Lazarus. Hey, now there's somebody who was grateful. He was dead. Yes. I mean, just look at the dinner table. Look at the guests at the dinner table. Oh, here's a guy who was dying of leprosy. All right. Over here is a guy who died. And, of course, Lazarus' sisters, Martha and Mary, were there also. So, Martha,
Starting point is 01:02:48 as we know, is known for her work in the kitchen. I always refer to her as mashed potatoes Martha. All right. Because earlier in the gospel, when Jesus was in their home, Mary was seated at the feet of Jesus, listening. And Martha was in the kitchen.
Starting point is 01:03:20 Oh, you know, I don't know if they were making mashed potatoes back then. But she was involved in preparing the meal. And she said to Jesus, would you please tell my sister to come into the kitchen and help me? I'm peeling potatoes. I'm trying to get this dinner together. And so, you know, if you just go by that verse, you would think Martha as the unspiritual person. Right. She gets a bad rap.
Starting point is 01:03:51 Yeah, she got a bad rap because she was trying to get dinner ready on time. But Martha had a soft heart. She may have been a little crusty on the outside. It's possible. She may have had a no-nonsense attitude. Hey, let's get working. Let's get busy. We got things to do. But she had a soft heart. And now we see her soft heart. It's Martha who shines in this verse, not her sister. All right. Well, no, Mary is the one. But again, Martha is here at this event, this dinner. So Mary, her sister, brings forth this perfume, which is extremely expensive.
Starting point is 01:04:56 Okay, it is valued at, what, 300 denarii all right so Bible scholars tell us that that was equal to the average person's annual income so think about it would you spend your annual income on one bottle of perfume? Now, that was the average income. That was the average income, the average income of the people at that time. So, and then would you break it open and and pour it out see the you got to understand the the details of this moment to comprehend the significance of what's taking place but, I'm going to suggest that even though 300 denarii was the equivalent of the average salary of the average person, I'm going to suggest that Mary did not have the average income. I'm with you on that okay um if she had if she had the average income she would not have spent an entire year's
Starting point is 01:06:38 salary on a bottle of perfume bottle perfume. Who would do that? Think about it, Doc. Think of your salary. Is there any men's cologne out there you would spend your entire annual salary to buy one bottle of cologne? No, no way. Absolutely not. But what if you had a lot more money? And spending that much money on cologne wasn't a big deal to you. I'm just trying to put this in perspective. How did she get so much of this perfume if it was so expensive? I'm just suggesting that she, Mary and Martha were a lot better off than what we realize. And the box that it came in itself was valuable, Rick.
Starting point is 01:07:36 It was alabaster, marble. Yeah, almost see-through marble and so i mean even the box itself uh had maybe maybe she inherited from her grandmother you know maybe it was a family heirloom you know that's a possibility um but i think there's a there's an underlying trend or truth in a lot of the scriptures involving women in the New Testament. They were businesswomen. Yes. They were sharp. They were trading. I think Martha and Mary were successful business women. I can't prove it, but I'm just saying by the cost of this perfume. They certainly weren't poor people.
Starting point is 01:08:48 Unless she had inherited from a wealthy relative. But we're not told. All we know is this stuff is expensive. And Mary poured it out on the Lord Jesus Christ so it's described as a spike nard and we can get into this here in a moment verse 7 a woman came to him having an alabaster jar, a very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table. Now, Matthew doesn't name the woman, but John does. Right. John says, this is Mary, the sister of Lazarus, the sister of Martha.
Starting point is 01:09:51 And these two had seen Jesus raise their brother from the dead. How would you ever get that out of your head? There's my brother over there. He was dead. Also, I think most Christians don't appreciate they don't think about the close friendship that Jesus had with
Starting point is 01:10:14 Lazarus, Martha and Mary they were brother and sisters they were his age he hung out at their house they were his age. He hung out at their house. Yes. Their house was the safe place he could go. He could go to their house, flop on the sofa,
Starting point is 01:10:40 open up the refrigerator. He could just be himself and not expected to do anything, even though he raised Lazarus from the dead. They were close, deeply close friends. And I think we underestimate the bond that was between Jesus, Lazarus, Martha, and Mary. He loved them. He loved being with them. They loved him being at their house. He felt at home at their house.
Starting point is 01:11:18 When he wanted to get away from all the crowds and the trouble and everything, he went to their home and so he's now making his last appearance with them this is literally the last time he will be with his friends and i think m Mary knew it. I think the Holy Spirit gave her an understanding. This is the last time you're going to see him. Yes, even though the disciples didn't understand that. They didn't, but Mary did. So, this oil, this perfume was contained in an alabaster box, which as Doc said, the box itself was expensive.
Starting point is 01:12:21 And it was a costly and fragile vessel it was intended to preserve appointments and so it only it only highlights the the value of this gift not not only is the oil itself valuable, but the vessel that contains it is expensive. But what was even more valuable was what it was used on. Right. I mean, this kind of oil, you didn't put it in a mason jar. You didn't put it in a mason jar you don't put it up on the top of the pantry this is extremely valuable and most likely she kept it hid it was hidden it was valuable Bible identifies it as spikenard. And from what I know, that's an herb from India. It was very precious, which means, again, Mary imported it from India.
Starting point is 01:13:36 This was an international import. You couldn't go down the street in Bethany to the perfume shop and buy spikenard. Right. She had this, this was a special order. But you get somebody, either she did it or somebody in her family who gave it to her had it imported from India. So now Matthew says that Mary poured the ointment on Jesus's head, which was a gesture of, it was customary at the time,
Starting point is 01:14:20 of honoring distinguished guests. It's also a way to anoint kings and prophets it represents profound respect but John tells us that she poured it on his feet I don't think there's a discrepancy. I think we're being told in Matthew, she poured it on his head, and John, she also covered his feet. Right. From head to toe. So do you have any thoughts about this, Doc? No, just because John says feet and the other Gospels say head, to me, it just means she anointed both, which we follow the pattern of the Old Testament for anointing, because
Starting point is 01:15:20 the priest would be both anointed on his head and on his big right toe and so I always found that fascinating and Jesus kind of fulfilled that but but Jesus makes a point here of saying what this was for it was to prepare him for death. Yes. In those days, in those ancient days, it was customary for guests to recline at the dinner table. You didn't sit up. You're reclining back. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:10 So most likely Mary approached Jesus from behind. And we're told that she broke the vessel. And I believe that that has symbolic meaning. Number one, it indicates complete, unresolved act of worship. I'm not saving any of this expensive oil for myself. I'm pouring it all out on Jesus. But I think it also speaks of that his body would be broken. Yes. So as Doc said, Jesus interpreted Mary's act as a preparation for his burial. That this was an, he viewed her action as an unspoken prophecy of his impending death.
Starting point is 01:17:03 I don't think anybody else in the room understood it. Obviously they didn't. We're going to get to that in a moment. Because they were grumbling and complaining. John says the fragrance filled the entire house. I can imagine that. There was a sweet aroma
Starting point is 01:17:28 of Mary's sacrifice, her worship. As I mentioned, anointing kings were anointed with oil at their royal inauguration. So again, this is an act of Mary recognizing the kingship and divine appointment of Jesus Christ. We get to verse 8 and when the disciples saw this they were indignant saying why this waste so the disciples and in particular Judas Iscariot there's all of them it It was all of them. It appears that all of them were griping.
Starting point is 01:18:27 When they saw it, they expressed strong indignation at Mary's act of anointing Jesus with this costly anointment. Ointment. And they questioned the purpose
Starting point is 01:18:44 of such an extravagant gesture judas's objection was fueled by his greed yes he was the keeper of the money bag he was the treasurer. He was motivated by a desire to protect what he perceived as a waste of valuable resources. It was less for him to steal. Yes. He said we should have given this poor. No, the truth is, he would say, yeah, the truth is, he wanted Mary to give the alabaster box with the ointment to Jesus, and then he would take care of it.
Starting point is 01:19:37 And it would go into his treasury. At least a portion of it. That's really the motivation. But he covered it up with his hypocritical concern for the poor. Religious people often do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:01 They'll come up with a super spiritual covering for their criticism. You can't question their criticism because look at what it represents. It's always some lofty spiritual value. But the real motive behind Judas' criticism was his greed. He wanted that ointment for himself. That's what he saw as the waste. It's like, good grief girl, you just poured out a year's worth of perfume here. Yeah, he was shocked by it. Like, why didn't you just take out a little bit?
Starting point is 01:20:54 Why would you do all of this? He wasn't even complaining about her anointing his head and feet. He was complaining about her using all of it to anoint Jesus' head and feet. That's what drove him nuts. He would have been okay with a little bit. But it was this selfless act of breaking this valuable alabaster box and pouring out all of the ointment on Jesus. That's what irritated him.
Starting point is 01:21:24 Because to him, it's completely wasted. All of the ointment on Jesus. That's what irritated him. Because to him, it's completely wasted. Now, what about the other disciples? Why were they joining in with Judas? I mean, obviously, Doc, all of them lacked an understanding of what was happening that night. They didn't perceive the spiritual significance of the moment. Right. How many times had Jesus told them, I'm going to Jerusalem to die?
Starting point is 01:22:05 They're two miles from Jerusalem. Had they forgotten what's going to happen? I mean, I hate calling them knuckleheads because, you know, but before they got filled with the Holy Spirit, they acted like knuckleheads. Before they got filled with the Holy Spirit, they acted like knuckleheads. They're with the Son of God. They're two miles from Jerusalem.
Starting point is 01:22:40 He's told them numerous times, I must go to Jerusalem. I must be persecuted. I must be persecuted. I must be tortured. I must die. I must rise from the dead. And they're almost there. And they're sitting there at dinner arguing over Mary anointing Jesus' head and feet with expensive oil. I mean, to me, it just shows how clueless these guys were before the resurrection.
Starting point is 01:23:18 Before, actually before the outpouring of the holy spirit in the upper room let's take a look at this word waste they accused mary of wasting it judas described this as a waste. The Greek word that's used for waste is the same word used for perdition. Right. And perdition means ruin, loss, eternal loss, destruction, the son of perdition. Is it ironic or is it prophetic that Judas, that they refer to this action as perdition? What happened to Judasas what happened to him and he's referred to as a son of perdition son of perdition right
Starting point is 01:24:39 the very thing that judas accused mary of doing is what he did what he became his own life became waste he objected to pure worship of jesus because in his heart he was already betraying Jesus. Yes. Remember, Jesus said, the Son of Man is betrayed. It's already happening. It's underway right now. He is betrayed.
Starting point is 01:25:16 Judas was already in motion in betraying Jesus. So he accuses Mary of wasting valuable resources. The Greek word for waste means perdition, destruction, ruin, eternal ruin. And yet, within days, Judas was in a state of perdition. Be careful what you accuse other people of doing when you are secretly doing a sin. That's right. That's right. So, let's go to verse 9 for this ointment
Starting point is 01:26:09 might have been sold for much and given to the poor this is total hypocrisy he was pretending to be concerned for the poor his condemnation of Mary He was pretending to be concerned for the poor. His condemnation of Mary and her act of worship was driven by self-interest because he was the treasurer. He had a history of stealing from the bag.
Starting point is 01:26:42 That's revealed in John 12, 6. And again, his reaction foreshadows his own ultimate betrayal. So he's ratting out himself. Yes. Yes. This raises questions of the balance between charity and worship. And this is a common tension in many congregations. Members of a church congregation can debate, are we spending too much money on the church building and not enough on the mission and there's a you know there's an ongoing tension inside congregations we have physical needs for the church
Starting point is 01:27:55 are we are we spending too much on the physical facilities of the church, the operations of the church, and not enough on the mission of the church. And those are legitimate questions. There's nothing wrong with having that debate. But for Judas, again, he was a hypocrite. He didn't care about the poor. That's right. And he was apparently stirring up trouble with the other disciples related to this too. Okay, let me ask you this.
Starting point is 01:28:36 From what we know in the Gospels, how many times did we read Jesus buying food for the poor? Oh, in fact, when they were, one time, when they were addressing Jesus about feeding the poor, he said, the disciples said, it'd take half a year's wages to feed all these people. And so here a woman has a full year's wages of perfume so i could have fed a couple crowds that size okay so the point i'm going for doc is i don't see any examples in this in the scripture of jesus using the money from the treasury of his ministry to buy food for the poor. That's right. Yet he fed multitudes. He did it by faith.
Starting point is 01:29:31 This is the hypocrisy in Judas. Judas knew that Jesus didn't take money out of the treasury to buy food for the poor. Jesus could take a couple fish and loaves of bread and feed thousands of people. He knew it. That's right. They didn't have a line item in the ministry budget for food. When Jesus needed to feed the multitude, he made it.
Starting point is 01:30:04 He spoke it into existence with his faith. So this is total hypocrisy from Judas. This had to have been one of those eye roll moments with Jesus. He rolled his eyes and went, oh brother, give me a break Judas. You know I don't take money to buy food, I just speak it. I just multiply it. Give me some fish, give me some loaves of bread, I'll multiply it. Why would I spend money when I can multiply it? So it just shows the hypocrisy in Judas. But again, this is that religious spirit.
Starting point is 01:30:55 Oh, I'm so concerned about the poor. Do you see how wonderful I am? I'm so concerned about the poor. When he wasn't. Right. concerned about the poor when he wasn't right he was looking with greediosity, this air of religion. He's using this to mask the real heart of Judas Iscariot. Verse 10. However, knowing this, Jesus said to them,
Starting point is 01:31:42 Why do you trouble the woman? She has done a good work for me. Amen. She had. So Jesus speaks up. And he responds to their murmuring. And that's what this was, his murmuring. Mumble, mumble, mumble. gripe, gripe, gripe.
Starting point is 01:32:07 He's sitting at the dinner table. He's thinking, I'm days away from being crucified. And the closest people to me are griping and complaining about Mary pouring expensive oil on me. And you know, Judas' complaint and the other disciples' complaint really wasn't just Mary,
Starting point is 01:32:37 but also directed at Jesus too, wasn't it? For him receiving. Yes. Jesus. You're right, doctor. What they're saying is you receiving it. Yes. Jesus. You're right, doctor. What they're saying is you allowed it. Yes. Jesus, we're criticizing you because you allowed it.
Starting point is 01:32:55 You could have stopped him. Yeah. I can't imagine being in a position where I would say to someone, you know, I like Rick and everything, but he spends way too much money on that particular thing or whatever it might be. Let's say you bought an RV or whatever. I'm just maybe. And I would go around saying to people, you know what, Rick, you know, shouldn't have bought that RV. I mean, he could have used that money to feed the poor, go on a mission trip, or do something else.
Starting point is 01:33:25 It just shows what a hypocrite he is. I can't even fathom in my mind talking about anyone that was a leader in my life or anything like that, a mentor in my life, especially Jesus, saying, you know what? You're really messing up by letting that oil be poured out on you. Yes. How rebellious. I mean, really at the heart of it, it's the heart of a rebel, isn't it? Yes, and also ignorant.
Starting point is 01:33:57 Yeah. Just ignorant. You know, that's just ignorant. Hidden behind their criticism of Mary was their criticism of Jesus. That's right. You could have reached your hand out and grabbed her wrist and stopped her. That's what they're saying to him. But you didn't.
Starting point is 01:34:20 You didn't. You allowed her to do this, which is implying implying doc that he had an ego and he wanted his ego required him to be worshiped like that oh boy that just makes a hair stand up of my neck just thinking about that I mean what are all the the hidden thoughts and motives in these people's hearts? So, they misunderstand her intentions. They misunderstand the significance of her actions. Jesus asked, why do you trouble this woman? He's expressing his concern over the unnecessary distress that the disciples are causing Mary, whom he loves.
Starting point is 01:35:21 Yes. This is his dear close friend this is the one who sat at his feet to listen to him teach so his question serves to defend her against their harsh judgment and he he characterized mary's act as a good work praise god uh meaning it's beautiful that's really when you if you look at the the the Greek words for good work it means this is a work of beauty this is this is worthy in the eyes of Almighty God my Heavenly Father is beholding Mary's action, and you're complaining about it. I know the answer to this question, because we all have done it. Have you ever said or done something
Starting point is 01:36:34 inappropriate at the wrong moment? When something very special is taking place, and you blurt out something or you do something that breaks the moment. We've all done it, right? It's like, oh my, why didn't I keep my mouth shut? You know, it's not that you intended anything wrong. You know, I think of Peter, you know, at the Mount of Transfiguration. And what did he, he blurted out.
Starting point is 01:37:18 Hey, Lord, he didn't know what to say. So instead of keeping his mouth shut shut he just started blabbering and and we all do that there are times when the moment is special and people in the room are sensing that something unique something special something memorable is happening and then one person says something or does something that breaks that moment. That's what Jesus is saying here. He is saying, guys, come on. I'm days away from being crucified.
Starting point is 01:38:00 This is a special moment for me. I was invited to dinner by Simon out of appreciation for healing him of leprosy. Mary is anointing me. And you guys broke the special moment. Can't you just be quiet
Starting point is 01:38:20 for one night? Can you just let me enjoy this? See, they didn't understand what was happening. They didn't understand the moment. Right. But Mary did. And that had to have been a revelation from the Holy Spirit. And I believe Jesus recognized that the Holy Spirit had given Mary that understanding. And that deeply moved him.
Starting point is 01:38:57 I mean, Mary wasn't saying, Jesus, you want some more peas? I've got a pumpkin pie out here. I'll go get you. That's not what she... Mary's realizing this is the last time I'm going to see him. This is the last time he's going to be here physically with me. We've all lost loved ones. our family and our friendships if you knew that
Starting point is 01:39:33 your your relative or your close friend was going to die the next day how would you have acted the day before their death? If you knew they have one more day to live, there's no sickness, no disease. You have this inner knowing from the Holy Spirit, this person is going to die tomorrow. How would you behave the day before? You'd have this humble awareness. This is this person's last day on earth. I need to do all that I can to make it the most special day. To express my love, my warmth, my admiration, my gratitude.
Starting point is 01:40:27 And for Mary's own personal benefit, for her memory, her memory. What does Mary remember? What did she remember? She worshipped him. His disciples didn't worship him. Mary worshipped him. The disciples are sitting there wondering, when does the dessert come out? They had no awareness of what was happening. See, this is something all of us need to work on.
Starting point is 01:41:18 To be sensitive to the moment. You know, I told you a story. I'm not going to tell the whole story, but there was a time many, many years ago when we were in Texas. And the Lord sent this elderly man to us at the right moment. We needed a mirror. We didn't know why he was there but he was a talker and i was in great trouble the ministry was in great trouble i mean like we're going to shut down within days we were in trouble and and and that man his name was joe
Starting point is 01:42:00 mcbride an old farmer and he was sitting in my office just talking away about his life. And it wasn't that I wasn't interested. It was just like I had a crisis. I had a crisis in my life. But I heard the Holy Spirit say, Rick, show respect to this man. He's getting the affairs of his life in order. Amen. Oh my.
Starting point is 01:42:32 I just internally, instantly got quiet. I was not externally. Internally. You know, I'm talking to myself about Joe's here taking up my time. I got a crisis. But when I heard that from the Holy Spirit, I knew what it meant. This man is aware that his days on earth are numbered and he's making things right with the Lord, with his maker.
Starting point is 01:43:02 And God has sent him to us for some purpose. And so from that point on, I forgot about my crisis. I just said, it's in the hands of the Lord. I can't do anything about it. All right. I rolled this care over on the Lord. Here, Lord, this problem, this crisis is too big for me. You sent this old farmer to me.
Starting point is 01:43:26 You said he's getting his affairs in order, and you told me to listen to him. So that's what I'm going to do. So I had to understand the moment. He didn't understand my moment, and yet he did. Because he solved my problem. The next day, he solved my problem. The next day he solved my problem. My crisis disappeared. That was part of getting his affairs in order.
Starting point is 01:43:56 So learn to be sensitive to these moments in the lives of the people around you. Not all about you. Look at the other people. What are they going through? What do they need? What are they facing? So,
Starting point is 01:44:26 Mary's act was noble because it came from a pure and loving heart that's right so compare that to Judas's his heart you have Mary's got a pure loving heart and Judas has a greedy, selfish heart.
Starting point is 01:44:51 How? I can't even fathom Judas spending years with Jesus and never changing. And then you wonder, why did Jesus call him? To fulfill scripture. I know. That's the part that's so difficult to understand.
Starting point is 01:45:20 God's plan. But if it hadn't been Judas, it'd been somebody else, but it was Judas. Somebody had to do it. Right. And so God in his wisdom chose the man that he knew was not going to change. And this is in spite of the fact
Starting point is 01:45:44 that we read in Scripture that several times in in the gospels where the disciples were sent out they were casting out devils they were healing the sick in the name of jesus judas was among them and so he was he was giving out devils yeah he was given the same authority as the other disciples were, and yet his heart was obviously wrong. Which proves, Doc, that real miracles can happen in the presence of a corrupt preacher. Oh, yes. And I absolutely know that's the case. See, that messes people's heads up, because you can know that a preacher's personal life is completely corrupt, and yet they preach the true gospel,
Starting point is 01:46:34 and the Lord performs miracles and signs, and you're like, how could that happen? It's the Word. It's the Word that's doing it. That's right. The gospel is bringing forth the miracles, not the preacher. All right, so we get to verse 11. For you always have the poor with you, but you don't always have me. So Jesus acknowledges the permanent presence of the poor.
Starting point is 01:47:12 Now, he's certainly not saying not to help the poor. No. He's just saying there'll be poor people today, there'll be poor people tomorrow. Yeah. I looked out, you you know just driving up to work today there there was homeless people out this morning and they're always going to be with no matter how uh how much money we spend there will always be poor people yes and usually the same people. Right. You know, charity seldom changes a person. You show charity generosity to very poor people, but seldom do they change.
Starting point is 01:47:59 They will still need it tomorrow. They'll still need it next year because their poverty is the re is the product of their thinking and their hearts they have to change their hearts and their minds before the poverty will go away so he's telling his uh the people there at the dinner table um there will always be opportunities for charitable acts trust me in the morning you'll see plenty of poor people but right now tonight tonight I am the Mary's worship you don't always have me he's speaking of the unique moment of his physical presence again he he affirms the need to care for the poor. But he says you have to prioritize special moments of devotion and worship of God.
Starting point is 01:49:14 Yes. There are times when you put aside charity and your entire focus is on worshiping God. So, while caring for the poor is important, it's crucial, expressing love and devotion to God carries a more important weight and you've got to keep this balanced in your life verse 12 for in pouring this ointment on my body she did this to prepare me for burial We talked about this earlier. Again, apparently the Holy Spirit had given Mary a revelation of what was going to happen to Jesus. Apparently she looked at him and realized he's going to die. you know did she know it before the dinner or was she aware of it during the dinner
Starting point is 01:50:32 we don't know when did she come to that awareness or was she not even aware of it until Jesus spoke this that's a possibility but I think that I think she did because I think it's what drove her
Starting point is 01:50:50 to such an extravagant act of worship. Right. Again, if you know that somebody whom you love deeply is going to die in a couple days, you spare nothing in expressing your love for that person.
Starting point is 01:51:09 Because he or she is leaving. And you're not going to see that person ever again in this life. I don't think she understood the full context of what was going to happen to jesus the discouraging the whipping the horrible physical torture that was imposed upon him i don't think she understood all that but i think she the holy Spirit revealed to her the Jewish rulers are going to kill him in several days and he needs to be prepared for burial and so this is not just an act of worship this is this is the this is a prophetic prepare a prophetic prophetic preparation for burial.
Starting point is 01:52:12 She's doing it in advance of his death. And remember, the ointment filled the house with a sweet aroma. That sweet aroma speaks of the sweet aroma of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as brought to the world. Yes. For those who have entered into it. Right. What else? Yes, go ahead.
Starting point is 01:52:47 I was going to say, I don't know if you've ever encountered a dead body. I did as a teenager. There was a wreck and the car had been sitting there for a day or two. And kids being kids and everything. We had to go check out what the police and firemen were all up to. But we went to see the scene of the accident. You could see the body in the car. But to this day, I remember the smell of death.
Starting point is 01:53:20 The smell of death. And when I think about this passage of scripture, it brings me back to that. You know, death has a stink to it, has a stench to it. Yes. And I mean, it's a sweet, sickly stench you can't quite describe until you've actually experienced it. And for her to anoint Jesus with this vibrant, blossoming scent of the spicknard, you know, it just shows the contrast of the presence of the resurrected Christ and the death that's been left behind. Yes.
Starting point is 01:54:00 There's no more stink, Rick. The stink is gone. That's the message. His resurrection is the sweet odor that fills the world, a world that has a stench of death. And so every human has a choice. Are you going to live in the stench of death, or are you going to live in the sweet aroma of resurrection? Praise God. Verse 13, Jesus said, most certainly I tell you, wherever this good news is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of her as a memorial of her the fact that you and I today in
Starting point is 01:54:51 November of 2024 over 2,000 years after Jesus said these words the fact that you and I are here today talking about Mary is proof that this prophecy is still being fulfilled. Yes. Who are we talking about today? And what are we talking about? This woman, what she has done will be spoken of as a memorial of her.
Starting point is 01:55:26 Jesus said, most certainly, you can take this to the bank. I'm telling you, this is a fact. People will talk about this moment, what is happening right here. People will talk about this moment throughout the whole world. Now, think about these people sitting there on the table. They're griping they're complaining and he says wherever my gospel is preached in the whole world what you just witnessed and what you're complaining about will be discussed in the whole world
Starting point is 01:56:03 and it will be a memorial to this woman, this woman that you're condemning right now. That's right. So two things you'll remember in the whole world, your complaining and her gift. Yes. That's right. So what have we done today?
Starting point is 01:56:20 We've highlighted their complaining, their murmuring, their griping, and we've highlighted Mary's worship their murmuring, their griping, and we've highlighted Mary's worship. Over 2,000 years later, and it's still taking place, this Memorial of Mary. Praise God. I like that.
Starting point is 01:56:38 Because her heart was pure. Her love was pure. And she gave out of her heart. And she gave all that she had. All that she had. I mean, this is the most valuable thing, I think, in her possession.
Starting point is 01:56:58 The most valuable thing in her physical possession probably was this ointment. There wasn't anything else more valuable that she could give to Jesus Christ that night. It was her expression of her love. And he received it. And, you know, Doc, he probably took her aside before the evening was over, put his arm around her and said, Mary, you have no idea what this meant to me tonight. Because he wanted to take away the sting of the critical comments made to her. See, they were trying to rob her of the joy of giving to the Lord. Yes.
Starting point is 01:57:53 Listen to what I just said. You had religious people trying to rob Mary of her joy of giving her best to the Lord. Have you had anybody in your family or your friends say, you give too much money to these preachers. You give too much money to churches. Have you had that? I'm sure you have.
Starting point is 01:58:22 They're trying to rob you of your joy of giving to the Lord. Don't let anybody steal your joy. Because they'd never give like that. No. But they'll complain about you giving. Yes. But it's your joy. You find great joy and satisfaction in giving your best to the Lord.
Starting point is 01:58:47 And there will be people with stinking thinking who will try to stop you from doing it. And they'll come up with all kinds of reasons of why you shouldn't give so much to the Lord. Yes. But the Lord is saying to you, I receive it. I receive it. I receive it. Thank you. I know that you're worshiping me with these gifts. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:59:12 All right, Doc. Yes. That's it for today. We'll pick this up tomorrow. Verse 14. Yes. It's going to be a great week studying here in Matthew chapter 26. So we invite you back again tomorrow, Tuesday morning, 8 a.m.
