Welcome to a special Memorial Day edition of the Godcast. Today we have a thought-provoking classic interview in store for you.
On this sacred day of remembrance, as we honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation,
it is crucial that we reflect upon the principles they fought to protect.
Today we delve into a topic of great significance, the evolving definitions of the words liberty and freedom in the wake of 9-11 and the Obama and Biden administrations.
Back in February of 2012, True News host Rick Walls had the honor of speaking with retired Major General Jerry Curry.
General Curry was born in rural Pennsylvania, and after graduating from McKee Port High School. He went to work as an
arc welder in the Pittsburgh Steel Foundry. Then he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private at the
end of the Korean War. Well, this led to a 34-year military career in which he worked his way up
through the ranks of the infantry, retiring as a major general. His life is detailed in his
autobiography, From Private to General,

If you haven't noticed, the world is getting weird. Anybody over the age of 40 knows that the perception of reality has changed.
The human race is being conditioned to think, talk, and act differently than people did over many centuries of history.
Values and beliefs are being drastically altered.
What was wrong is now right.
What was right is now wrong. And words are being redefined
too. Social engineers are slowly but gradually changing the culture of nations by changing the
meaning of words. 30 years ago, the word gay meant that a person had a joyful, happy, sparkling
personality. Today, it means the person is sexually attracted to the same sex.
Before September 11, 2001, the word patriot meant a person who loves, supports, and defends
his or her country with great devotion and fearlessness, especially in defense of the
rights and freedoms of the people against the interference of government oppression.
After September 11, 2001, the word patriot started to mean a government snitch.
Likewise, the Americans who were considered true patriots before September 11 are now
classified as potential domestic terrorists.
Who are the people in the shadows who are changing the culture against the will of the
people?
Where are they attempting to take the nation and the world?
Ronald Reagan said, freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.
We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream.
It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. Or one day, we will spend our sunset years
telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where
men were free. Could Ronald Reagan even be elected president today? Could he even win his party's
nomination? In today's America, a significant portion of the American people have embraced socialism.
They no longer have a sound understanding of liberty.
Once again, the meaning of the word was changed.
In days gone by, Americans understood that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Today, liberty means unbridled permission to pursue your selfish desires and
lust if it doesn't hurt somebody else. My guest today comes from the age when the word patriot
meant a brave defender of constitutional freedom and liberty against government oppression.
He was born in a town called Liberty, Pennsylvania. He wore the uniform of the U.S. Army for nearly 34 years.
He rose from private to general.
Along the way, he was a decorated combat veteran, an aviator, a paratrooper, and an Army Ranger.
And he served as a presidential appointee under three U.S. presidents.
And it's an honor to welcome to True News General Jerry Curry.
General, welcome to the program.
Thank you, and I'm delighted to be with you this morning.
Yes, sir. Well, General, are you perceiving this change in the way people are thinking about reality?
Oh, yeah. The whole country is changing, without question, and we have a lot of people working hard
at making a change, and the change that they're making, or trying to do anyway,
is all toward the worse, not toward the better.
Yes, sir. And this isn't something that has just appeared since 2008. What we are experiencing
right now is the culmination of many decades of infiltration, of organization, of strategy by leftist socialists who were determined
that they were going to alter the shape and the direction of the United States of America.
And now we're seeing their work come to fruition.
Yeah, they're going at it hard, but the reason that this is working for them
is because we do not have the leadership that we once had. You know, the idea of somebody standing
up in the back of a church hall and screaming out the top of his lungs, give me liberty or give me
death, is unbelievable. You can't even imagine somebody doing something like that.
Or if they did it, they'd be called a tea partier and then locked up in prison somewhere.
That's right.
We really need some, we need to go back to leadership.
You know, when I was a little boy, I grew up in western Pennsylvania,
and I lived on a farm, went to a little country school.
And in each classroom, we had framed and on the wall the Ten Commandments.
The teachers, from time to time, would refer to this, to the Ten Commandments,
and talk to us about it, explain it to us.
And we knew when we left that school and we graduated, I finished the first eight years there,
we knew that society had standards and we knew that we were expected to live by those standards and most of us tried very, very hard to do exactly that because that's what also our parents were teaching,
that's what the city hall was teaching. That's what the churches were teaching.
In short, we were really being encouraged to live good, fruitful, productive lives.
And I can say truthfully, most of us did.
Well, General, I can tell just by listening to you, you and I grew up in the same type of America.
And I've talked about it many times in the program.
You grew up in a town called Liberty.
And it was just natural to understand the origin of Liberty
and what it meant to be a free American.
In a public school, they had the Ten Commandments.
That wasn't an unusual thing.
That wasn't an illegal document on the wall.
It was an honored document and that was
the america you and i grew up in but but somewhere along the way we allowed uh those who hate and
despise what america was we we allowed them to begin to chip away at the foundation of the country.
And it's like we had an infestation of termites.
And for decades, they have been below the surface of the country, and they've been gnawing away at the foundational structures of the nation.
And now we have a major problem because the building is starting to creak and crack, and we not sure now if it's even going to stand up what do we do what we do is it's we the people i know that
sounds very trite but that's what makes the difference we the people have standards and we
insist that our society be be conducted and lived along with those standards.
And that includes, of course, you know, like you can say,
how do we keep people from killing people with guns?
The answer is it's not that hard.
We need some leadership.
We need somebody standing up at every level saying, this is wrong, this is right.
If you do that, you're going to be punished for it.
And so, unfortunately, that has been chipped away at, chipped away at, chipped away at.
But if we're going to put it back, we have got to get out there and start leading again and not just being a follower.
Why are the so-called conservative leaders so timid and so easily frightened by the left?
I do not understand it. It doesn't make any sense to me. You know, I was a military guy for 35 years, and part of what we did was we were taught that you lead by example. And by example means
you get out there in front. There's a story, in fact, the World War II, up in Bastogne,
the Battle of the Bulge. And there's this American sergeant, and he's on a hill,
and he's surrounded by his squad. And they're down hiding in their foxholes,
and he's trying to get them out to fight,
to shoot the enemy.
Can't get it done.
And finally, he just takes off his jacket and his steel helmet, walks up on top of this
little hill, all these guys are down there cowering in their foxholes, and he says,
All right, you SOBs, you want to live forever?
Now get up here and fight with me.
And they got up out of the hole, of course, started shooting.
And you can imagine the story ends.
They won the battle.
And that's the sort of thing that has to happen, whether you like it or not, whether it's dangerous or not.
You've got to get up there and go for it.
But our conservatives these days act as though if they get up there in the front and do anything, that the world will collapse.
The world collapses because you're not up front and you're not doing your job.
Your story reminds me of Colonel Theodore Roosevelt and the Spanish-American War.
Colonel Roosevelt had never served in the military.
You know, they made him a colonel.
Yes.
And he went to war as a colonel.
And the Rough Riders were pinned down.
They were down at the bottom of San Juan Hill.
And the enemy was firing over their heads, and the men were terrified.
And Roosevelt didn't know
what to do.
He'd never been in war.
And here he is, he's leading the Rough Riders.
And so he just decided to mount his horse and charge up the hill.
And the historical accounts of the other Rough Riders, they said the sight of Roosevelt on
his horse charging up the hill in the sight of Roosevelt on his horse charging
up the hill in the face of those bullets coming down at them, a great surge of courage rose
up in those men, and they got behind him and scared to daylights all the Spaniards on top
of the hill.
And they retreated, and Roosevelt became a hero and eventually became President of the United States based on that one heroic act.
But it's the basis of courage.
That's what it takes, and you've got to get up there.
I've done a lot of leading, and you've got to lead by example.
You've got to get up front, and when the bullets are flying,
let me tell you that when you're being shot at,
it changes your whole attitude toward things.
For example, an assault rifle that now is a terrible thing in the United States, if
somebody is shooting at you and you have one, it becomes your best friend.
Absolutely.
Absolutely. Absolutely. General, last year when the word came out that the Department of Homeland Security was
stockpiling, I mean, the numbers have changed since that time.
I guess it's up to what we know about now, about 1.6 billion rounds of ammo.
Something like that.
Yeah. 1.6 billion rounds of ammo. Something like that. Yeah, and a lot of it is hollow point.
You made some very strong comments, and I read those comments on this radio program.
I shared your thoughts identically.
I noticed that some of the leading conservative news websites quickly scrubbed from their websites your commentary that they had posted earlier.
Oh, yeah, and I got beat up quite a bit about that.
And as you probably know, this last week, the Department of Homeland Security went out and brought another something like $10 million worth of ammunition, by the way.
Yeah, yeah. What do you think is going on? went out and bought another something like $10 million worth of ammunition, by the way.
Yeah, yeah.
What do you think's going on?
I don't want to say what I think is going on,
because I don't like the conspiracy theory business,
but I really have a feeling that as we move down the road,
I think that it's unfortunate,
but I think that we really have a lot of people out there
now who are working for this particular government
uh... who would like to take over the country and run it just like a
dictatorship
and they're going to need the only that the thing that stops
and this is the second amendment really is all about
the thing the thing that stops people who are just absolutely anti-American, anti-Christian,
the only thing that stops them dead in their tracks is the U.S. military.
And the only way you can overcome the U.S. military is you've got to shoot them.
You've got to kill them.
And I have a feeling that while it may not work out that way,
I have a feeling some of these people who are buying these ammunition and doing the training,
I think that that's exactly what they're about.
Their idea is that they hope they will have an opportunity to kill American soldiers
and to take over the country and run it.
It sounds awful and it sounds crazy.
No, it doesn't sound crazy what
sounds crazy is that we're allowing it to happen that to me is what's crazy because i i'm in
complete agreement with you what i've been saying on this program that we are under a communist
revolution i believe that with all my heart i i said it four years ago i said this is the beginning
of a of a silent takeover of the united states of
america this will not have a happy ending if we don't deal with it now and stop it before they
gain too much power but mr obama said in 2008 in the campaign he wanted a domestic army he wanted
a security force he said as big and well funded as the u.s military and that was
a frightening statement and and the mainstream news media uh obviously did not want to talk
about that statement but he was letting us know what he was going to do and i i believe generally
what they're doing is that they they are stockpiling. They're creating ammo depots that they're going to establish around the country.
And I think it's exactly for the purpose that you described.
And I'm concerned that these may be ammo depots
that they are amassing for foreign troops
that will enter the country to do the job that you just described.
Well, I pray not.
You know, they're going to have a hard time.
The United States military is going to stand up and fight
whether Obama tells them to fight or not.
They're not going to just lay down and let some foreign soldier
come in across the country or across the border from the south or something
and just walk over the country. It the border from the south or something and just walk
over the country.
It's not going to happen.
If we have foreigners come and if they take an inch of this ground, they're going to fight
all the way for every inch that they take.
And they won't be able to control it.
The American soldier, you know, I've been with them.
I've been out there and I know how it is.
And they are just flat not going to let it happen.
That's right.
Now, remember this.
The president and a lot of his, I don't call them cronies, but the people who work with him,
a lot of his people, they have never been in war like Theodore Roosevelt.
And they have read the books about war, and they think they know all about it.
War isn't the way you look at it in the books.
It's a terrible, difficult, bad, horrible thing,
and you don't want to really get involved in it.
But if you get involved in a war, domestic or foreign,
you don't get involved with a war unless you intend to win it.
That's right. That's right. Last year or so, I was at a patriotic rally, and hundreds
of Vietnam vets on motorcycles arrived. And I got to tell you, General, I stood back and I watched those guys, you know, and I remember saying to myself, China, you're going to have to get through this.
If you think you guys are coming over here, this is what you're going to meet.
These boys are not going to lay down and let you take this country. And I think we've got some serious traitors in the land that are hoping that they can
orchestrate a collapse of this country.
And, you know, right now, you know, Mr. Obama tonight in his presidential speech will propose
drastically reducing the arsenal of the United States nuclear arsenal,
our warheads.
He wants a one-third cut immediately.
And then he wants to take it down to about 900 warheads, and then his goal by the end
of his second term is to take our nuclear warheads down to 300, while at the same time
Russia and China are amassing
larger arsenals.
And I don't know, General, the only way I can see this is that, you know, it is a deliberate
strategy to weaken the national security of the United States of America.
Oh, I think it is.
Look, let me just give you an example.
We've got the United States Military Department of Defense, Army, Navy, Air Force.
We have the Coast Guard out there and the Marines that are out there.
And here we have the Department of Homeland Security that is building a civilian army.
They're enlisting these people.
They're paying these people.
They're training these people.
They're providing ammunition for these people.
But stop and think.
You're building this private army at the same time you're going through sequester, which
is to tear down the military.
Now, if you really were only interested in saving money, if that's all you were really interested in,
the answer is the first thing is you would completely eliminate
this private civilian program for building a private civilian army.
You'd eliminate it.
You wouldn't have to pay them.
You wouldn't have to have housing for them.
You wouldn't have to do anything with them at all.
They wouldn't exist anymore.
And you'd be able to pay your soldiers
who are coming back wounded from Afghanistan. And at the same time, Homeland Security is
purchasing 7,000 AR-15s and they're classifying them as personal defense weapons. For you and me,
they're assault weapons, but for them, they're personal defense weapons.
Amazing.
Yeah. So I want what they're getting. but for them, they're personal defense weapons. Amazing. Yeah.
So I want what they're getting.
You know, I want a personal defense weapon.
Yeah.
If it's personal defense for Janet, I mean, for Janet Napolitano and her cronies, then it's a personal defense weapon for you and me.
But they're amassing 7,000 of them. And, I mean, for an administration that wants to constantly talk about firearms as evil and having ammo as evil,
yet they are amassing the greatest stockpile of arms and ammo domestically of any administration in the history of the nation.
Yep.
That's exactly what they're doing, and
they have no intention of playing it straight, of being honest, of doing what's right, of doing
what's decent. These folks cannot be trusted, and no matter what they tell you, the best thing to do
is look in the opposite direction, because they are going to do the opposite of what they say
they're going to do. General, you served under three presidents, right?
Yes.
Who were the presidents?
Carter, George Bush, and Reagan.
George Bush Sr. and Reagan.
All right.
And were you in the White House?
What was your position? I was in the Pentagon. You were you in the White House? What was your position?
I was at the Pentagon.
You were at the Pentagon. Okay. All right. And how would you say the presidency has changed in comparison to what we have today versus what you served under years ago,
under President Carter and Bush and Reagan?
Well, President Carter did not like the military,
and his approach was to do anything he could that would undermine it,
that would cause us problems.
For example, we didn't have enough repair parts to fix airplanes, helicopters,
ships, that sort of thing. So the result was we would cannibalize our airplanes and our ships and
all that sort of thing and fix as many as we could with them. But that was standard for Carter.
He thought that was just very normal. And then you could take your money and you could spend it for other programs, and that's what he wanted to do.
I had General Cash was on the program the other day, and he mentioned the same thing about President Carter,
that those were days that the military had to scavenge for parts to keep things working.
That's the way it was.
It was not easy.
And then along came Reagan, and Reagan came in and he said, peace through strength.
Build up the armed forces.
And he flipped it in 180 degrees.
He changed it overnight.
I mean, his impact was that severe. And that's one of the reasons why there's hope for
America in the future, because I personally stayed there and watched one man walk in and
make a total difference. And we can still have one man walk in today and make the same kind of
difference. Do you think Ronald Reagan could even be elected today?
Probably not. So how would we get that man to make the difference?
Well, you'd have to get somebody else who was not a Reagan. Reagan, you know, we know him now,
everybody talks about him. But when he came in as president, there weren't many people in
Washington who really knew him. He was the class B actor from Hollywood, you know. And so the American people really didn't understand
him. It was halfway through his first turn that finally people realized what a great
thing they had in their hands.
What do you make of the way the Republican Party has capitulated since November 6th?
I don't know what their problem is.
What are they doing?
I have no idea what they're doing.
They ought to be with that sergeant in Bastogne.
They ought to be standing up there on the little hill fighting, shooting.
But they just seem to cave.
This is amazing.
We have a man who is president who's never been a leader of anything in his life,
hadn't got a clue about leadership.
And he can outsmart the Republicans
three days out of four anytime.
I mean, I really have to wonder about them.
I mean, are they, you know, gutless wonders?
Are they incompetent?
Or are they sold out? I don't know i i think all of
the above oh that's great all the above i'm really it's it's astounding because mr boehner i mean
can you name one thing how speaker boehner has done to stop the the obama revolution nope i mean the the voters gave him the greatest uh you know
victory in the house since the 1920s and what did he do he went and played golf with with mr obama
and and immediately after this past election he said obamacare is the law of the land. We're not going to do anything.
So apparently he had been lying to the people for two years saying we're going to repeal it.
I guess it was just a big lie. I'm not sure what it was, but it reminds me, you know,
the same thing with Christie. Here he is, a governor, a very popular Republican governor, and he's out there hugging up to the president in the middle of that Sandy business.
That was very suspicious, because he was all kissy-kissy on the news about President Obama,
but he was downright nasty about Governor Romney.
That's right. Exactly so.
I don't know where he's going. I don't know what he's
doing, but he sure is not helping the United States. Well, you know, one thing that I, and
I've mentioned this in the past, but back in the beginning of the 2012 primary season,
I saw an interview. I was traveling. I was in a hotel, and my wife and I had the TV on, and I never watch Oprah Winfrey, but they had Oprah Winfrey's channel on the hotel system.
And she was interviewing Governor Christie.
And so I watched it.
And she was asking him about the pressure he was under in late 2011 and early 2012 to enter the Republican race.
And he was saying, oh, it was tremendous pressure.
And she said, well, what kind of pressure?
Tell us.
And he said, well, Henry Kissinger came to see me.
And, you know, I thought, you know, this is really interesting. Eric Kissinger showed up at Governor Christie's office or home,
personally showed up to persuade the governor to enter the race.
And when I heard that, I thought, okay, I was, you know,
obviously Governor Romney is not the hand-picked candidate of the Republican Eastern establishment.
Obviously, they don't like him.
And, you know, Kissinger was trying to get Christie into the race.
So at the end of the 2012 race, when he got all lovey-dovey with Obama,
I thought, I have a feeling Mr. Kissinger's on the phone saying,
help throw the election to Obama.
I don't know what was going on there, but, you know, he was not helpful to Governor Romney.
No, and I'm like you.
I really don't know what's going on, and I don't pretend to be all-seeing, all-knowing, having all sorts of inside information.
I really don't have it.
It's just
that what I see, I don't like. Well, we're going to let that be the final word. And my guest today,
retired General Jerry Curry. General, appreciate you taking time today to be with us here on True
