Welcome to another special Christmas week edition of True
News. Our regular programming will resume on Monday, January
2nd, 2023. Why was Jesus Christ born in Bethlehem over 2,000
years ago?
Why did the Son of God depart heaven and all its splendor to become an embryo
in the womb of a human woman he made and gave a soul?
I'm going to talk about it in a few minutes.
First, however, Tommy Sellers and Rick Creevey are here again. These two talented musical artists will perform O Holy Night. Holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of our dear Savior's birth The Lord is with you. felt its worth A thrill of hope
The weary world rejoices

Let all within us praise his holy name. Christ is the Lord
Forever every praise we
Noel, Noel, O night, oh night divine
Noel, Noel O night
O holy night night My question today is, why was Jesus Christ born in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago?
To find the answer, we must go back in time to the Garden of Eden.
Adam and Eve committed the first sin by disobeying the only
commandment they were instructed to keep. Do not eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good
and evil. Satan beguiled Eve. She twisted and misquoted God's instructions given to Adam,
and Eve tempted her husband to join her in eating the forbidden fruit.
They were expelled from the Garden of Eden and compelled to dwell in the wasteland,
where Adam had to do laborious work each day to acquire sufficient food.
Adam and Eve and all humans thereafter were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Yet the garden is where God, our Father, desired His children to dwell.
His original intention was for Adam to take dominion over the earth
and expand the borders of the garden to cover the whole planet.
God also never intended for men and women and animals to die.
Death came to the world through Adam's sin.
Human beings have been separated
from their heavenly father ever since, ever since Adam's fall in the Garden of Eden. Thus,
Satan became the illegitimate father of the human race. He's an imposter. Our true father
is God in heaven. He desires to be reconciled with his children on earth. From the beginning, God had a plan to restore fallen humanity to himself.
In the third chapter of the book of Genesis, verse 15,
we read a curse and prophecy spoken by God to Lucifer,
the fallen angel whom God expelled from heaven for his sins of pride and rebellion.
He said, I will put enmity between you and the woman
and between your seed and her seed.
He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel.
Well, God told Lucifer that he would put enmity
between Lucifer and the woman.
Enmity means hatred.
Thus God said, Lucifer, I will impose on you Eve's hatred and every woman after her too.
Well, think about this.
How many women do you know who love snakes?
I've never known a woman who wanted to hold a snake and make it her pet.
Typically, the first thing a woman says when she sees a snake slithering on the ground is kill it.
The enmity is still there. God also said he would put enmity between Satan's seed and the woman's
seed. Her seed refers primarily to Jesus Christ and secondarily to all humans who believe in his name. Every man and woman who are in Christ are also his seed.
Therefore, all Christians are the enemy of Satan. There is enmity between the saints and Satan.
There is also enmity between the seed of Christ and the seed of Satan. God also prophesied to Lucifer by telling the serpent
that the woman's seed shall bruise the devil's head.
Genesis 3, 15 says,
He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel.
God did not say they shall bruise your head
and you shall bruise their heels.
Thus God the Father was speaking about his son, Jesus.
Jesus shall bruise your head.
Satan, you shall bruise Jesus' heel.
The serpent's head represents Satan's chief instrument of wickedness and rebellion,
which is his power to produce death.
Jesus Christ, the seed of the woman, would someday strike Satan's head
and remove the sting of death.
That is precisely what Jesus Christ did
for you and me on the cross
and through his resurrection.
He conquered death.
And without the birth of Jesus,
there could not be the crucifixion,
death, burial, resurrection,
and ascension of Jesus.
Nor could there by a second coming of Jesus Christ establish his kingdom forever. Jesus left heaven as the Son of God
and became the Son of Man when he entered the womb of Mary as a human embryo. Well,
here is our very talented classical guitarist, Greg Ryderder performing What Child is This? Thank you. I'm a little lonely Thank you. The Word of the Messiah, Jesus Christ,
Old Testament prophet Hosea cried out to the people of Israel,
Hear the word of the Lord, O people of Israel,
for the Lord has a controversy with the inhabitants of the land.
There is no faithfulness or kindness and
no knowledge of God in the land. God has had a controversy with the nations of the earth
since the first nations were formed after Noah's great flood. Controversy is an offense. Hosea said
God was offended by the nations. Thousands of years passed by between the
great flood and the birth of Jesus Christ. Throughout that time, God was offended by the
behavior of nations. He was separated from men and women, yet he desired to be reconciled with
humanity. With this thought in our minds, that God desires to be reconciled with humanity, with this thought in our minds,
that God desires to be reconciled to men and women.
Let's read verses 8 through 14 in the second chapter of the Gospel,
according to St. Luke.
And there were in the same country shepherds
abiding in the field,
keeping watch over their flock by night.
And lo, the angel of the Lord
came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto
you. You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was
with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, Glory to God in the
highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.
A multitude of angels, more than could be counted,
sang in the sky above Bethlehem,
glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.
The angels announced the end of hostilities between heaven and earth,
the end of the controversy between God and nations.
They proclaimed that God was sending goodwill toward humanity.
How would this peace and goodwill be bestowed upon men and women?
It would come to them through the cross.
The baby that was in the Bethlehem manger would someday die on a cross for our sins,
but he would resurrect himself from the grave, ascend to heaven,
and sit on his throne on the right side of God the Father,
making intercession for the people on earth who believe in his name
and are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The angels sang glory to God in the highest. God is in the highest heaven. There is a heaven above
the earth that we call the atmosphere. There is another heaven that we call outer space.
The dwelling place of God is the highest heaven. Angelic praise is heard continually in the very heaven of heavens,
in the highest regions of the universe.
The plan to redeem mankind brings glory to God.
The cross is the highest expression of God's love for mankind.
The angelic praise of redemption of fallen humanity was not to be confined to earth,
but it was meant to be proclaimed throughout the universe.
Our house band is here to perform the hymn, Glory to God in the highest
And peace to His people. Oh, no. Lord God, heavenly King
Almighty God and Father
We worship you, we give you thanks
We praise you for your glory
Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father
Lord God, Lamb of God
You take away the sin of the world have mercy on us you are seated at the right hand of our prayer glory to God
in the highest
and peace
to his people
on earth Glory to God in the highest
And peace to His people on earth.
Jesus came to earth to make peace with mankind.
The angels sang glory to God in the highest.
They communicated the purpose of mankind and the reason God created the earth.
The Westminster Confession declares,
Why do we celebrate Christmas?
Well, Jesus' birth, death, and resurrection has reconciled mankind to their maker.
Jesus was born to glorify his heavenly Father.
He died to glorify his Father.
He saves our souls to bring glory to his Father.
We live our lives on earth in faith and obedience to God
and in love toward others so that we may glorify God.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen is an old English Christmas carol.
An anonymous manuscript from the 1650s
contains the earliest version of the carol.
The lyrics say,
God rest ye merry gentlemen,
let nothing you dismay,
for Jesus Christ our Savior
was born upon this day
to save poor souls from Satan's power
which long time had gone astray, which brings
tidings of comfort and joy.
The carol is also known as Tidings of Comfort and Joy.
The meaning of the phrase, God rest you, merry gentlemen, is may God grant you peace and
happiness.
Tidings is an old English word for news.
The carol means that heaven has good news for mankind.
God desires to grant peace and joy
through the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ.
Our final carol today is
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,
performed by our house band. God rest ye merry gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior was born on Christmas Day to save us all from Satan's power
when we were gone astray. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy, oh, tidings of the same.
How that in Bethlehem was born the Son of God by name. Oh, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy. piano plays softly Fear nothing, said the angel, let nothing you affright This day is born a Savior
Of a pure virgin bright
To free all those who trust in Him
From Satan's power and might
Oh, tidings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy.
O tidings of comfort and joy. you
