I am unashamed.
What about you?
Well, no, no, because that's what I told her.
I said, pull over, and she said, well, there ain't nothing here.
I said, hey, that's all right.
And I said, all you need is look forward.
I said, I'm going to step out and take a leak.
I said, I'll be either going to wet this seat or I'm going to get out.
Your choice.
I said, because this kid's got to go.
We were at crankings, baby off.
I think it already cranks.
I know, we're ready.
All right, we're correct.
We're rolling.
Welcome back to Unashamed up to side.
I've been looking forward this ever since Wednesday.
Me and Jace did a podcast, and then he told me.
Were you on their podcast?
It was a...
No, this was for Bill Jordan.
Oh, we did.
40 years of, you know, being top gun on.
Oh, we did a favor.
Okay.
Me inside.
We did a favor.
Because we can't say no, right?
Yeah.
I've been looking forward this
because I've had two days
to think about it.
And look, I'll start this out
when we're talking about Phil.
When Phil was running with the devil,
okay, his motto was
who's the man?
Yep.
Well, when me and Willie and Corey...
Well, it was who's a man.
Well, yeah, but okay.
Because who's the man is much more
conspiratorial.
No, no.
But anyway, so when we went...
By the way, Phillips here.
Hey, guys, what's up?
I went with Corey and Willie to God Behind Bars in San Quentin.
This lady who was married to a veteran that lost his life in the service of our country.
Okay, he was a sniper.
She done a wonderful job.
She was the best speaker of there.
Okay, but anyway, she set it up for me perfectly because I was going to talk about V-Man, capital T-H-E-M-A-N, all capital letters.
And it's Jesus.
So that's what I did up here.
But this, you know, Jay's on 4th of July, you've done an excellent job with the son of man.
Yeah, because we've been talking about that a lot on the podcast.
But see, I've done, you know, I've had what, Wednesday night, Thursday night, and then.
It's today Friday?
Today's Friday.
I've had that much time to think about it.
Well, you know why I did that when I walked in because I didn't know who those people were.
Because I thought it was a podcast like you, but it actually wasn't.
We were just acting like it was a podcast.
Commercial.
Yeah.
Yeah, I guess that's what a lot.
Well, yeah, with an audience.
I was wondering where I was there.
But then I thought.
All the Silas is needed is an audience.
But I thought there's a lot of people in this room that I don't know.
Yeah.
So I pulled in the spirit of your brother, Phil.
Yeah.
I said, well, I heard you were going to be on our podcast Friday.
So then I gave about a five to ten minutes.
Then we went to preach.
Directional dialogue.
Well, everybody's sitting there listening,
and it was about the son of man, Jesus study.
A classic, what would dad say, directional dialogue?
Because Sae made a comment.
He's like, I've been talking about the man.
And I said, well, which I think is interesting.
When I looked up the Greek for the son of man,
one of the phrases that it's literally translated is the man.
No, no.
And it got Sao started out.
He's like, really?
He's like, I've been talking about that for a year.
No, no, because I got fired up about it because I said, wait a minute, you know, he said, hey, we're going to be in chapter 12 of John.
So I'd ask you, okay, I'd tell you, hey, look, I want you to do a sermon.
I said, because only you can do it that will satisfy me.
Yeah.
About I want you to do.
I think that was a compliment.
I always loves my preaching.
But I wanted to, comparison ain't a good word.
But anyway, I wanted you to go with, okay, the son of man and then the son of God.
And this right here just, you know, yeah.
You know, when you say, when you read, and I've been reading, you know, since Wednesday.
Really?
Yeah, about how many times that it said the son of man.
Because Jesus had it counted.
80 to 100 times, depending on.
Right.
Yeah.
Because I'm sitting through the Bible, just going,
you know what I'm talking about,
Greek.
I said, you know, because I said, I've been talking about the man
because I always get a kick out of it, and I love to say it.
You know, hey, let me tell you about the man
that hung the sun, okay, that hung the moon,
that hung the stars.
Yeah.
Yeah, well, when you think about it, you know,
people don't realize, and then in here,
we'll get into it later.
But when it says the hour has arrived that the son of man is to be glorified.
Yeah, that's John 12.
That's good.
Yeah.
And I looked and I said, wait a minute.
Good grief.
You know, I told Al to do this deal, and I've read John now I don't need it.
No, you got it.
You're doing this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I don't need it because, hey, you know, you got to think about it, you know, it wasn't the son of man.
that completed the mission.
I mean, it wasn't the son of God
that completed the mission.
There you go.
It was the son of man.
Folks, wait a minute, good grief.
All the stuff that Jesus went through.
Yeah.
For you?
You know, hey.
So when Chris Kyle's wife was talking.
That was my ass who was.
Yeah, it was Chris Kyle.
So when she was talking, you know,
she alluded to that.
And when Cy got up,
He said, let me tell you, you know how he's all about the man.
And they all went wild.
Anything he says, they just all went crazy.
He said, if you ain't got Jesus, you ain't got doodley, squat.
Then I looked up and I said, hey, everybody turned around and look back behind you up in the sky.
It always makes me nervous when you do that.
Yeah, but hey, yo, I said, look back.
And what we saw was armed guards around the rails.
No, look.
And I said, you got to look above.
the rail and the guns.
I said, I'm talking about it.
I'm pouring that to a ball of fire.
I said, folks, I know the man
that hung that.
The son of man who hung
the sun. Yeah.
You know it's funny. I don't know if you know this or not.
When you were saying that earlier, there's a song
that was popular about 10 years ago called
The Man. If I played it, you would recognize it.
And it was in commercials
and all this stuff. But in the song,
the guy singing, he says, I'm the
man.
I'm the man,
I'm the man, I'm the man.
And which, if you think about the band.
No, that's a different song.
I'm the man.
Phil's song that he got,
Who's a Man,
was a song from Chicago.
Yeah.
Then he would put on Chicago and that,
don't do,
don't do, do you know.
I'm going to look that song up.
No, that's how it starts.
Oh, no, yeah.
Bass, guitar.
If you next time you play,
name that team, it's like,
don't do, don't do, do.
And then you hear a little
chicka-ch-ch-chic-chic-chic.
And then he starts, the first line is he's saying something about the whiskers on his chin.
So you see why I feel like that?
That's what I feel like.
That's just his thing.
Yeah, look, then he gets to the crescendo and it's like, I'm a man.
Yes, I am.
So that's where it came from.
And then here fast forward when I said that.
So now we have to, I think, back up to our viewers, because we like started mid-side.
Well, but to continue that thread, though, that dad always.
I mentioned this at his funeral,
that current, like the music he listened to
before he was a Christian and then even after,
always, like, spoke to him,
but he always put a spiritual slant on it.
And I mentioned the Eagles song,
Take It to the Limit, which was one he really listened to a lot.
And it always kind of scared me
because I was afraid he was going to go back.
Take it back to the limit.
Take it back to the limit.
But what he was saying was, that's the way I used,
that was the old man.
Right.
Take it to the limit one more time.
He said,
but we live that life and we found the limit.
Yeah.
And now we take it to the right now we take it to the right now.
And like Jayce used to say back in the day,
if you've got nothing else,
you might as well take it to the limit.
Right.
You know what I mean?
And then I used to go down to Fields when I was in the school of biblical studies.
I'd go down to Fields and he'd teach me some stuff.
I'd learn some stuff from him.
And then he would love to play the music and the radio and the air guitar.
He loved the song.
Love is like oxygen.
by Sweet.
Sweet.
Yeah.
He loved that.
We would sit in my car and crank it up.
When I hear it,
when I hear it,
and I have to turn it up now.
Oh, no, you got to turn it.
Right, right, right.
Listen to this little,
boom, boom, boom, boom.
You see what I'm talking about Mac?
See what I'm talking about it?
He loved the very end of the song that when it went,
boom,
the bass, you know?
He's like,
he's like, yeah, no, no, listen up, listen up.
That part is what you got to listen to.
We ain't got into it yet,
but this was what I loved about about this, okay,
is that, you know, I'm going to go military with you.
Uh-oh.
Okay.
Jesus was gave a command, okay, on a mission.
Yep.
From the father.
Yep.
Okay.
And then we're back to it.
The son of man came.
Okay.
And he came here miraculously.
Okay.
He was born of a virgin woman.
No sex is off.
That's definitely a miracle.
Okay.
That's a worthwhile arrival.
Okay.
Because you know what?
It sounds like a sigh story.
No, hey, this, well, no, no, because when you get to this.
Except it's 100% true.
It's 100% true.
No, no, when you get to this, okay, we call it the Bible.
We call that the Bible, the Word of God.
Okay.
The story is so amazing that really just being human, it's hard to believe.
Yeah.
No, I agree with that.
But the thing about it is, Jesus came from heaven, okay?
He was the word then.
Okay?
And he became flesh.
Deity in human form for crying out loud.
That's why when I look at it and I got on this son of man that, you know, my goodness.
Yeah.
So I's been fired up, boys.
Well, right.
The son of man was getting.
given a mission by the father.
Yep.
And hey, his mission was, and he knew what it was.
He was to come to earth, become flesh, and then die for me and you, what me and you do wrong.
Yep.
Yeah.
Okay.
And hey, when I say the man, you know, how do you handle that?
Because, hey, look, he was tempting in every way we're tempted.
Right.
Hebrew is four.
He was a man 100%
But he was also
The son of God
100%
Okay
But the thing about it is
I've had
I've preached to people before
And then they say wait a minute
If he was God
He didn't feel it
And I said you idiot
You have missed the whole point
Of my talking to you
You thought that you didn't say it
Well no no idea
That is said
Well I'll bounce for him
No, no, because it was just, you know, you missed the whole point.
You know, and now back to the son of man, okay?
Think about that.
A man was given the mission.
Oh, by the way, here's what we're going to do.
Here's the plan.
This is from the Father and the Holy Spirit.
You're going to have to become flesh, and then you're going to have to die, you know, to redeem all my children.
The old scheme of redemption now.
Yeah.
Yep.
I love it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Which is a good phrase.
Yeah.
Well, let's give a little review.
So the people who have it, they may not even know what we're telling me.
But that's normal with Sa.
Welcome, Uncle Sao.
Yeah, we're coming into the back door.
Coming in a hot.
Speaking of a man on a mission, I came across this picture recently,
and Maddie will show it a little bit more where you can see.
Because I was intrigued because there's,
they were the slight beard growth.
And I'm going to guess this around circa late 70s, early 80s.
Probably 80s.
see Tracea Lee, your daughter in the background,
and she looks like she's maybe 12 or 13 years old,
and I think it's Christine's legs,
and then Dad is,
and Jace, they're sitting on the couch that was your bed.
That was my bed during that era,
so I just came across that.
So y'all give some sympathy for me,
because just imagine that people just come up
and just start taking your bed over as a place of leisure.
The reason that Jace was on that couch
and that I was in the laundry room
was because Willie peed the bed
and first we all started out in the same bed together
we didn't know who was peeing the bed every night
because it could have been any of us
We were all potential
I'm gonna
Jason is saying no
It couldn't be him
I knew it wasn't me
He said he didn't know
All I know is it was great for 30 seconds
And then it wasn't not so good
I think the backstory on that
Al used to live in that house later
then the house got sold
and then someone else was living in the house
then they found these pictures
of people who turned out to be famous
so I being one of them
so they're, you know
they're gonna make a dollar
which is a god thing
I can sell some old pictures
but then somebody from our crew
saw the pictures
rescued them
yeah rescued the pictures
he got it to me
what I found fascinating about that picture
besides them sitting on my bed
is that Si, if you take his glasses off there,
he looks exactly like John Luke.
We'll put the picture up.
So how old are you right there?
So if it was early 70s, late 70s,
late 70s or early 80s,
if Tracer is about 12.
You look about 25.
It's got to be 80.
Okay, mid 80s.
Mid 80s, yeah.
Oh, mid 80s?
Mid 80s.
Yeah, which is right where you were on the couch as a teenager.
Yeah.
So that's 85, so 40 years ago.
So what, you were 30?
37 years old.
You were 35, 37 right there.
You know, I shouldn't do it, but I'm going to do it anyway.
But it runs in the family because I actually peed the bed when I was a teenage.
Oh, boy.
Okay, what I'm just saying?
I wouldn't know.
I wouldn't have to say that.
I know, this is something I had to get on.
I hate to tell you this.
I might have to get on Willie when I see you.
I hate to tell you this, but you're probably going to do it again.
So, but that's another story.
Well, I'm going to.
No, I'm going down.
It all comes back around.
You start there, you're in there.
Hey, what goes around, comes around, baby?
Oh, boy.
Is that me or is that just funny?
Now, the reason I brought it outside, more than just a random, I had the picture,
was you were a man on a mission in this picture,
because you were right in the middle of your military career.
So, Sy would come home.
I think I said this on the last time I was on a duck car room.
The reason we loved Uncle Cy is the same reason you love him out there,
is because he would come to our house,
like on this occasion,
this was probably near the holidays.
And we'd only see him every three years
because you were deployed.
Yeah.
And you would come on,
but you'd be there a couple of weeks
because you'd hunt
during Christmas or Thanksgiving.
And so,
Sa would just tell us these amazing tales
of his life and what was going on
and how the, you know,
all his CEOs that didn't,
were idiots and all this stuff.
Oh, I've heard those.
No, no, my brother, Harold actually,
told me one time, you know, when I got in his face,
he was the first lieutenant.
Your old mama had to step for 20th,
but then he said, he said, you got authority problems, son.
And I said, no, I don't have authority problem,
but I've got a thorough.
I have problems with stupid authority.
Okay.
Yeah.
Well, speaking of, I was trying to do a Bible overview,
and now we,
let me get it.
Speaking of, the other day,
Jay calls me, and he's like,
have you seen this bridge over at Willie's,
pond and I was like oh you're talking about my bridge that I fish all that because I treat that as like
part of the family but it's actually there's two bridges on it's willie's pod it's willie's bridge
it's willie's fish but it's also jace's bridge so jace's pond and jason's so jay goes down there
and uncle sides he doesn't know what happened he just assessed it and he's like here was his
word sigh some idiot i told you i tried to drive a truck across the
bridge that was made for a golf cart.
It's like golf cart is what we drive there or ATV.
So after investigation, he called me later and he's like, you're not going to believe this.
He said, I found an idiot.
He said, your uncle is the idiot.
I thought, so I was the only one still alive.
You're the only one.
You in Cordell, the only two days.
Tried to drive a truck across that bridge.
Oh, I didn't try.
I drove it across.
It's got a little barks on it now, but hey, it got through there.
It's not quite wide enough.
He basically tore up his truck and the bridge, said bridge, by that stunt.
I'm not to feel it.
It's a little, it's wide enough now.
I'd go through that.
This is on the par three golf course at Willie's house.
Yeah, this is right in the middle of that.
You know what my response was?
I said, did anybody film that?
He said, no.
Security cam.
He was going to actually be on the movie.
He was filming.
He was driving to Sadies, which is ATV only.
The irony of this situation is that Sye is now trying to renew his driver's license.
And I'm having...
Well, Sire, we all know why.
You should be having trouble.
At least they're not making you take the driver's test.
You know what that means?
Somebody, if you're having problems getting a driver's license,
here's what that means to me.
One of the most famous men in America.
No, I don't.
Let me say my punchline.
Somebody at the DMV, they're doing their job.
So thank you.
The world is actually showing improvement.
No.
Efficiency at the DMD.
I used to own a 2012 Colorado chivalet.
I sold it.
That's the problem.
And you bought a four.
He sold it to another military veteran, Jay McMillard.
Well, the irony of this conversation is you brought your chauffeur to this podcast.
That's right.
already have a show for it.
What you need a driver's license?
No, I've, hey, Liz brought me today.
Normally he's driving.
But hey, look, I've got a brand
new Ford pickup truck, okay,
and I need to have a driver's license
to drive it.
Side, do you know the last time that
mom drove, she drove
to town from out there, and I happened
to be behind her because we had just finished
a podcast, and she spent
about 10% of the time
in the lane design for her,
and 90% of the time on the shoulder
or sometimes on the other side
and that's the last time she's ever driven
but just so you know
I just happened to be that
I was like mom you're going to kill somebody
well no no because being filled in the truck
and there was those stuff
you know a long line
slow traffic
and we tell me you all
Phil talking I wonder who
what the idiot is up for what is you doing
up front and it's Paul
yeah
your dad your dad
yeah my dad
in the first gear.
In the first gear.
He couldn't get it to second, third, or four.
And that motor was sounding like it was about to blow.
He couldn't get it out of first.
And he went out of ten, two miles of dire.
All the way to tell.
Did y'all help him?
No, we just pass him.
Pass him and Phil.
It's the Robertson way, Phil.
But, Cy, it's just like what we said.
When you start off a hitchhiker at some point, you probably go back to
to bed.
Hitchhiker.
That's where you are now.
Either that or overshel.
I wanted to give an overview of the son of man.
I asked Maddie, I know she's busy making notes of places she has to
side-banging the table.
Edit this podcast.
But so in previous podcasts, we discussed the son of man.
So I thought we should give this for all the people thinking, what's the big deal?
So it's 1,000.
1,000.
We've done 1,100 podcast.
Well, in 1113, 1130, 113, 11.
1114, 1115, and 1118.
That was 30.
Yeah, you got a long way to go.
We're way ahead of you.
So look, you can hear what we're discussing,
but just to give you a thumbnail of it.
Jesus did declare himself mostly as two things.
The son of man, which is 80 to 100 times,
which is interesting.
But he would do it like in the third person.
The son of man came.
Well, he is the son of man.
and he would ask pertinent questions
we did four podcasts about this
so I encourage you to go back and listen
and as I am
there's seven famous ones
but there's a ton more
there's a ton of subtle thing like Matthew 28
when he's like going to the whole world
and preach the gospel
to all nations baptizing them remember that
you're like what's that got to do with the son
I am well at the very end he's like
like, and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.
That's a more important statement than people realize.
Oh, it really is.
We linked it back to the Old Testament.
I am Moses, Bernie Bush.
Exactly.
So, but the son of, man, the reason that they all were familiar with that in the Israel community,
they perked up.
So think John 9, I did this off the top of my head in our make-believe podcast the
other day.
was I said thank John 9 because you were kind of fascinated by that story that I told you.
I was like it's crazy that he healed a guy who didn't even believe in him.
He just healed him and then they asked him.
They're like, who is the guy who did this?
And he's like, I don't know.
Yeah.
And the only reason Jesus even noticed him, even though you knew he was going to do it,
was because the disciples says, Lord, who messed up?
that this guy is blind,
his him or his parents,
they had some bad theology,
and then he winds up healing the guy
who didn't even believe in him at all
and didn't even know who Jesus was.
Well, so then the guy gets persecuted.
So imagine this.
The first guy to get persecuted
in the name of Jesus
didn't even believe
that he was the son of God.
He just thought the guy healed me.
And every time they would ask who he is,
he said, I don't know.
He was the guy who healed me.
I don't know who he is.
And look, and guess what he was basically saying?
And I don't care.
I don't care. All I know is I can see.
I'm good now.
And I'm happy.
Lower your mic a little bit.
Oh, yeah.
We lost your mic.
Oh, Matt, you can just tell him.
Yeah, don't point.
He doesn't do well with charades.
No subtleties either.
Trust me, we've tried to go get a duck.
You can do all this all you want.
You say idiot.
Get you Mike Burke.
If you want a bridge to nowhere, just remember when we used to play charades and
Si is guessing things that the human mind could not conceive.
You're like, no.
Baby fish lips.
Yeah.
I tried to tell them that one time.
I said, if y'all want on Duck Dynasty, the predecessors,
I was like, if you want a funny bit, just play charades with Sy.
But they didn't want to do it because it was uncontrollable.
I was like, you don't want to control it.
Trust me, whatever he says, he's the only man that's ever played.
charades that was wrong 100% of the time.
He never even swerved into a right-ed.
The grapes of wrath.
No.
Baby gorilla.
Oh, that's a funny memory.
These were good times.
So anyway, Jesus gets wind that he's being persecuted.
This is the man born blind in John 9.
And I'm going to read this.
I quoted it to you, saw, in the make-believe podcast.
But Jesus heard this is John 9.
that they had thrown him out because they threw the guy of the synagogue and they were hot at him
and when he found him he said now this is the same guy he had just healed that basically said i don't
know who it was and don't care i can see he asked him this question which we're doing a little bit
through john about profound questions that jesus asked we're up to about a dozen questions we spent
four podcasts on this one question he asked him
that's that the guy that he had healed, do you believe in the son of man? Do you believe in the man?
Well, and I know he's answer is, who is he?
Who is the son of the man? But it also implies that he had heard of this individual.
That's right. This mysterious individual who would come and redeem Israel.
Tell me so that I may believe in him.
And then Jesus said, you have now seen him.
In fact, he is the one speaking with you.
That's pretty good.
And the irony is he couldn't see.
And now, and then he met the son of man and he can't see.
Oh, now that you can see.
You're looking at him.
Which then implies something there, Jesus is saying, which is, I am he.
Which goes with the other instance that he refers to.
to himself. So before I go down
this quick rabbit hole
on how had this guy heard
of the son of man? Well maybe I should do that
first. So the most famous
passage in the Old Testament
in Jewish history that
they were all familiar with
was Daniel 7
in verse 13. I want to read it.
And we went through that on one
of those podcasts that I
rattled all full ago. So it says
in my vision, Daniel saw a vision,
he looked and there before me, this is Daniel 713,
was one like a son of man,
coming with the clouds of heaven.
He approached the ancient of days,
which is a phrase given about the Father,
God, the Father, the Creator,
as far as that role.
I mean, we get it.
God is the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.
spirit but at this time they they don't understand that nor should they and even us today even we know
that and have trouble wrapping our head around how a being can be one and three yeah and three but
they're they're one so then it says he was given that this this one before him like a son of man
coming with the clouds of heaven he was given authority glory there's that way
word, sovereign power, all peoples and nations and men of every language worshipped him.
So he sees this vision about future occurrences.
His dominion or power is an everlasting or eternal dominion, power, that will not pass away.
And his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
So that's why everybody was familiar with that, because they're like, if you're from Israel, one day there's a son of some creature like a son of man coming from heaven by the authority of the Yahweh God, the creator, and he's going to set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed.
Well, if you're a human being, that's appealing. Would you like to be a part not only of a kingdom, but a kingdom that's a kingdom.
that will never end.
We're talking, what?
Which is hard to believe.
And we talked about it, Jay, that it was actually,
they would have been perked up in the first century
because it was going to come in this fourth kingdom
that sounded a lot like the kingdom they were dealing with
in the moment being Rome.
Well, right.
So, you know, they were on, everybody's on edge.
We're under occupation.
Romans here.
Somebody's going to come deal with these Romans.
That's the way they're viewing.
Because when you read Daniel 2, you get that picture.
So I think we're caught up on that.
But what I did want to say is I discovered something last night, actually,
that we read over and we missed, Al.
Because if you do a search, yeah, this is something you miss.
But I think you're going to find this fascinating.
I did last night.
If you do a search on whatever engine, as they call,
they'll say that Jesus only referred to himself as a son of man or I am.
however they say well it's implied that he referred to himself as the son of God because of the
I am however I actually found a place where it's more of an implication that he claimed to be the
son of God and we just read it and we didn't make mention of it so we should have and this is
John 11 in the beginning of the story of Lazarus in verse 4
I'll just read it.
Oh, yeah.
When he heard this, what he had heard was the one you love is sick.
And we did this whole thing about love from verse six,
which is the overarching motivation of God's plan.
The son of man that came with the plan, the plan was God's love expressed to the human family to redeem them.
But watch what four says.
This sickness will not end in death.
Now here's the verse.
No.
it is for God's glory, there's that word again,
so that God's son or the son of God may be glorified through it.
Well, who's he talking about?
That's my name's saying.
So there is, I would call that more than an implication.
Which, by the way, so then I went and looked if he ever made another statement
that says that son of God, and I couldn't find one.
There are some other implications, I guess.
I had a list of about three of them.
So you got John 11.4.
John 858.
That's one everybody's familiar with.
Yeah, I am.
Jesus said, I tell you the truth,
Jesus said, before Abraham was born,
I am, but that's the I am phrase.
But what's he saying there?
He's saying he's on level of Yahweh.
If you're before Abraham, there's a level.
So here's another one.
1030
I don't remember what that said
But I want to read it
About the sheep
Yeah 1030 said
Oh I and the father are one
Well
That's more than a implication
If you and the father are one
There's some kind of God connection there
Yeah
And to the point of the blind guy
When you've seen me
You've seen the father
That's right
Well and he says that again
In John 14
That's the last one I want to reach
John 14-7, let me read that one.
Because remember, he said, I am the way, the truth, the life.
No one comes to the father except through me.
But this statement in verse 7 is really complex.
But think about what he's saying.
He says, if you really knew me, you would know my father.
So think about that as well.
From now on, you do know him and have seen him.
Well, no, that's what I was trying.
to say what to go about the man?
Yeah.
Okay.
Jesus referred to himself as the son of man.
Yeah.
Okay.
And said, okay, the hour is up on me to be glorified.
Okay.
That takes me back, okay, you know, after they killed him,
three days later, he rose from the dead.
The father raised him.
Yeah.
The one and only.
Okay.
because now as we read further from verse 23 about the son of math.
Let's just read.
Let me read that.
Jay's let me ask you something.
What was that verse in John 14?
John 14, 7.
He's basically saying, if you've seen me, you've seen the father.
Because the reason I'm making such a big deal about this is I wanted to say this to kind of put it all together.
The whole reason they're not recognizing Jesus.
Jesus, and he's saying I'm the son of man.
I'm this one implied in Daniel 7 and in Ezekiel.
I'm setting up the kingdom.
Remember, because what's the first thing he said in Mark's account?
The time has come.
The kingdom is at hand.
The king is here.
It's basically what he's saying.
Which is fixing to happen in 12 when he comes into the...
Well, the whole reason I'm making a big deal of it
is because I don't know where the verse is in the Old Testament.
You may know off the top of your head.
But there are...
concept was all these verses in the Old Testament says you can't see the God. If you do, you'll die.
Remember the whole story with Moses? He got in a crevice, you know? So Jesus is saying something
that's the exact opposite of what they were led to believe. We can't see God or you'll die.
But you're looking at him. Well, he just said, you see him because you're looking at him.
Right. There's a saying, going back to the mission. The Father gave Jesus the mission.
Okay, Jesus came and fulfilled the mission
And then on John 12th, the rest of the time is
Jesus is telling everybody about, hey,
the one that gave me the command sent me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And look, and that's why I said when you're talking about a man here,
okay, that has done all this.
Yeah, he was in the, at the,
that he was there in the beginning.
He spoke things into existence.
But in 14, 18, it says, I'm not going to leave you like a bunch of orphans.
And then it says, because I live, you will also live.
And on that day, you will realize that I am in the father and you are in me and I am in you.
No, no.
Exactly.
Then you go further.
Okay.
You start and said, okay, the father loves us not to send the son.
The son loves us in obedience to the father came.
Okay.
But then when he departed, he said, hey, stay here.
I'm sending somebody to you.
He sent the spirit.
That's the one thing.
Just imagine, too, side, that one of the things I love about this passage you're talking about,
and you're right, Jay's, let me just read it.
Because I want to make a comment about the humanity level,
which is one of my favorite verses in the Bible, this one in the Garden of Gassimony.
Jesus says, the hour has come for the son of man to be glorified,
which is what Seisman told about.
And he just says it clearly.
This is the mission.
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies,
it remains only a single seed, but if it dies, it produces many seeds.
So he's telling you exactly what's got to happen.
Yep.
If we're going to have people that live forever, it's going to start with me.
Yeah, I'm going to start it.
The man who loves his life will lose it,
and the man who hates his life in this world will keep it
for eternal life.
So it's an upside down.
You lose your life to gain eternal life,
which is what happens for all of us.
Whoever serves me must follow me.
And where I am, my servant will also be,
to your point, Philip, in John 14.
My father will honor the one who serves me.
So he's saying, I'm the leader of this.
Now check this verse out.
Because this shows you,
this is one of the beautiful pictures of the son of man.
Now my heart is trouble.
And what shall I say?
Father, save me from this hour.
no it is for this very reason
I came to this hour
Father glorify your name
now he says that that shows you his humanity
in the picture because he's admitting
it's a troubling situation
to face down torture and death
well that's showing the man
exactly and he says the same thing Hebrews too
which you mentioned earlier he suffered
he was tempted like us in every way
and then when he gets in the garden you remember he's anguished
and Luke says in Luke 22
there were drops of sweat
Like blood.
With blood in it.
I mean, which is a condition to be, you're talking about trouble.
No, no.
And so it shows you his humanity in a unique way, I think, of understanding.
I mean, he is fully human, even though he is fully God.
So I had a thought last night that was one of those thoughts where you're like, yes, that hit me.
Now look, this is deep, and I've never heard anybody talk about that.
I can't wait.
But I think.
I'm sure I've already thought of it.
Because I think the reason, we know this.
is exciting that Jesus became a man. He said, you know, if you've seen me, you've seen the
father. But here's the part that you're like, yes, and then I'm going to prove it to you
with a couple passages. When Jesus became a man, and then he did what he did, he died, was raised,
just like the Daniel 7. He then became one, the only one who had all authority in heaven
on the heart. But when he come back, when he came back, well, he came back, still a man.
And you say, well, wait a minute now. Remember when he said, look at my hands and my feet?
But he's a glorified, that John 1223 says, now it's time for me to be glorified. He's a glorified
human. Right. But if he's part of the Godhead, which is hard to explain, we've already said,
He's now fused humanity into that.
And I want to read a passage about this that makes you,
this is hard for your brain to comprehend.
But in 1 Corinthians 15, when he talks about the resurrection
and says Christ was the first fruit,
because what are we talking about here?
He said, unless a kernel of wheat dies,
he's using that.
It can produce many seeds.
Same language.
Paul uses in first sentence.
Same language here.
And then when you get first sentence is 15,
you know,
even when he later talks about the resurrected body,
he's like you don't plant the seed that will be.
It has a different form,
but it's raised.
But it's still a body.
It's like when you plant wheat,
we all know what wheat looks like.
If you put a bunch of it in a dove field,
there's going to be a lot of dut.
We know that it's shining.
But once it starts...
A kernel of corn produces a green stalk
with a bunch more years.
Now there's a green...
Now there's a green...
Just think wheat.
Well, then the doves not coming in
because they're not eating that grass.
They wanted that while it's a sea.
But it's still, we call it wheat.
Well, he's still a human,
and he's forever a human, and God.
Correct.
Which that broke this barrier of us,
one, seeing God,
because now he destroyed that barrier.
Now we can look at him.
You can look at it.
That's why he's in the presence of God.
He's a human.
So I want to read this in 1st Corinthians 15.
So then it says, but each in his own turn, Christ's first verse, then when he comes,
those who belong to him.
Well, we're going to be like him.
Well, that's why when he ate fish post-resurrection, well, what is that all about?
Humans eat fish, you know.
And he's doing it now, not because he has to stay alive because he's eternal.
but he's a glorified human.
He's broken this separation down.
So then it says, but each in his own turn,
then when he comes, those who belong to him,
then the end will come when he hands over the kingdom,
which we just read in Daniel 7,
that the son of man would be right,
the son of a human would provide and have all this authority.
And so then the kingdom is handed over to the father.
So this is the kingdom.
Well, what is that?
all these people who are subject to the king.
Again, the three, one.
Yeah, so I want to read this because this is fascinating.
After he has destroyed, all dominion authority and power,
which again goes back to Daniel 7.
He has all this authority.
But here's what I find fascinating.
For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
So we all focus on the enemies.
Well, what are these enemies?
The evil one, death, sin.
selfishness, all of this.
But you know what?
You know what we've missed?
He still has feet.
Under his feet.
He forever became a human.
And I think that's fascinating.
Because the reason that they couldn't see him,
because you're going to get to these controversial passages
that people don't know what to do with
and false doctrine runs ramping on.
Because they're looking at him,
and they don't believe it.
You're like, well, how could they not believe it?
He's doing all these things.
Because they had ingrained in their mind.
You can't see God.
Well, don't know.
And he's saying, if you're looking at me, you're seeing God.
Most people are like, yes, God became a man.
They're like, nope, can't happen.
No, I'll say that.
I tell people that all the time, okay?
And I say, the reason you don't believe is but you've never seen him.
You haven't personally met him.
Okay.
Or you haven't seen him.
something.
The Robertson family has been blessed.
We've seen him do something.
I hadn't personally seen him.
Okay.
But I've seen him.
We've set a prayer up to him on a child that was ate up with cancer.
And the next day it happened is Phil likes to go, wow.
Yeah.
It's gone.
That was a loud sound of that.
Well, no, no.
But I'm just saying.
But you're right.
So you're going the same direction I was.
Which is Jesus made God visible.
Well, look, then he gave us his spirit.
He poured out his spirit, which is now part of this dynamic of God being three
that humans are now welcome to be involved in.
Which is why it's called a deposit.
When you surrender to Jesus, the king, and you get the spirit, guess what you do on this earth?
You now make him visible.
Deposit.
Which is what size says.
They're like, well, if you could just, if I could just see him, and I would do it.
And then you're supposed to say, well, watch me, because I'm going to live like you.
Well, no, no, because I've got to say this.
That's good, Jay.
Okay.
Yeah, you know, everybody was so, when it was happening, how are you doing these wonderful things you're doing?
By what authority?
Well, hey, I always go back when you mentioned the word authority.
what was the first thing Jesus said after he rose from the dead?
All authority and heaven has been given to me.
Look over here, man.
Look in these eyes.
He actually didn't say, Jack.
Well, hey, I'm putting emphasis on it.
He implied it.
The man said, hey, look at me.
Okay, y'all asked me one time about what authority am I doing this?
Okay.
I've been given all authority.
You know what you should do, see?
That's what I want the people to get.
No, you're right.
Read 12, John 12, and if you can't believe in Jesus, man, I pity you.
All right.
Okay, because there's too much proof, okay, that he is who he says he is.
He's done what he will do.
Past, present, future.
Yeah.
Okay.
You're talking about the.
man
for crying out loud
side-pot it all the way around
so we become the man as well
which he says here in John 12
because then we get him remember Smith used to teach
virtue in his 15 film and he would say
it he would hold his forearm
and say it your body is
sown you know perishable but it the body
is raised imperishable
so he talked about the body resurrection so one last
thing because we didn't have a chance to get here.
I knew it's going to be like this.
Wow.
So we're out of town.
No way.
So the Greeks come in, which we didn't even get into right before this.
And so I was looking at, I thought, why did they ask Philip first?
It was just one of those little rabbit holes, Jay's does.
And so I looked it up, you know, I said, what is Philip?
So Philip, it was a Greek name, Philip.
And you were a woman in the podcast.
So it means the lover of horses.
And that's got to be close because I run around with a donkey.
Exactly.
So, and then do you love horses?
Don't be little a donkey.
Jesus rode on one.
There you go.
And I said that.
So then Andrew, who's another Greek name, means manliness.
So those were the two that brought the Greeks.
So it took me down a rabbit on.
I'm going to close of this because I won't at least say this out loud.
I thought I've never looked up with the word silas.
We got two silas on set.
That is true.
And I thought I've never.
And it's a biblical name.
Because remember you had Paul and Silas?
So I looked it up.
Silas, now it's two things.
One is the most famous one is a Latin name.
It's from Sylvainus.
So Silas is short for Sylvainus.
It means man of the forest.
So we're men of the forest.
There you go.
My name is Silas.
That's pretty good.
So that fits.
And then I thought, what about the Hebrew?
Because I know there was a Hebrew Silas.
Well, it comes from Saul, and it means to be prayed for.
So I thought, you two need a lot of prayer
because you're men of the forest.
So that is troubling because a lot of bad things happen in the wilderness.
Well, no, no, but I had, you know, the other day was thinking about Phil.
Okay, and I said to someone, I said, well, when he first became a Christian, he hid out on the river.
Yep.
And he actually did.
John the Baptist, found the wilderness.
Yeah, yeah.
He spent his time in the wilderness, and that's where he came to really know the creator.
That's right.
Yeah, true statement.
Yeah, and that's true.
And people found him just like they found John.
No.
Yeah.
When they run up on him and they heard the same thing John gave up.
Yep, exactly.
Okay, John the Baptist.
Okay.
He's always going to share as a gospel week.
But, you know, I just, I knew I was going, you know, I always, you've done just
what I did.
Wait a minute.
We're done.
I'm just getting started.
Unbelievable.
So you brought it all the way back around.
Side.
We always love it when you're on.
Philip, we love it when you join.
Philip is always, is a longtime friend since you were a teenager.
And Phil's conversion has been documented, but we literally met on the side of the road.
Yeah, exactly.
Well, see, I knew Jason high school because he would take everybody's money in the locker room.
And he still takes it.
And the equipment room.
That's why I didn't like him.
Well, back then, I repented for some of the ways I was taking the money.
Now I'm a man of selling the footsteps.
Of the Son of Man, so as a good study.
Thank you for bringing this full board.
Hey, here's the deal, folks. Leave with this.
Okay.
You need to look up to son of man and actually establish a personal relationship with him.
Because guess what?
He was glorified.
He rose to the father.
Bodily.
Fletching blood.
And he said, Jack.
Yeah.
Well, you need a new, we'll close to this.
I have a new saying.
Everybody's closed.
You need to say, hey, Jeff.
Jack and Jill, because what about the women?
I think it would be a more worldly statement.
You all need to see the man.
Hey, Jack, and Jill next time.
Go see the man.
On Unashamed.
Unbelievable.
