Starting point is 00:00:00 I am unashamed. What about you? Welcome back to Unashamed. I like that, Jay's After Dark. Well, we were hurriedly trying to get through the last podcast, and we just decided to stay around and do the next one in the same vein. So basically what we concluded, when you read the usage of Jesus' name, well, or the name that Jesus prayed when he, in John 176, I've revealed your name. And you go back to that.
Starting point is 00:00:39 I like the combo you made of the one too. Because that was a big point. Jesus has been making the father and I won, just like we're one. Exactly. And in the back part of that prayer, remember he said, and the world can be one. I mean, the idea is this going to go further than just that. It's exciting. And I think we should look at that real quick because we want to combine.
Starting point is 00:01:00 We want to make a combination. Don't you hate it when you're texting somebody? You get distracted. You pull your phone up. And it was still in the... I still hadn't sent it. That was like two hours ago. So there you go.
Starting point is 00:01:15 So look, Al, if you look at John 841, we can do this quickly. John 841? 841. We'll do a little review just for our listener, so everybody 841. That's when he's talking about the, he's talking to them about their father. Because they said Abraham is our father.
Starting point is 00:01:40 He said, if you were Abraham's children, you would do the things Abraham did. As it is, you're trying to kill me. Then he says, you are doing the things your own father does. We are not illegitimate children. They protest. The only father we have is God himself. Yeah, so that's what their argument is.
Starting point is 00:01:55 And then Jesus turns out on his head. And says, I am. Well, look at 5-16. Yeah, so that's their view. They're looking at that there's only one God. So 5-16, I think this is interesting. Because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, Jewish leaders began to persecute him.
Starting point is 00:02:18 That's why I had those backwards, because they're like, who are you? In his defense, Jesus said, my father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working. for this reason they tried all the more to kill him not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was even calling god his own father making himself equal with god which is interesting that word equal is not mentioned but about eight times in the new
Starting point is 00:02:51 testament and one at one time it's mentioned in philippians too where it says he didn't consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing. A lot of debate on what that means, but he took on a servant role being made in human likeness. He, with the limitations that being a human can be, here's God to go back to the illustration of what his name is, which is a burning bush, which is basically what we concluded last time, you can't put a label on God. Because therefore, by humans doing that, you're exerting yourself as a created being
Starting point is 00:03:33 in limiting who God is. You can't just limit him to, oh, it's just, it's not that easy. So if a guy can make a bush not burn up and it's on fire, I'm not sure who you are, but it's beyond my idea of what you can be. And really, as you think about it, it thwarts the concept of idolatry
Starting point is 00:03:59 because how can you take something that's created and say it's your God when it's just something that was created? That's why you say it. You say it because you created it. What's greater? The watch or the watchmaker? It's the one who made the watch
Starting point is 00:04:16 and said the idol maker is greater than the idol. So idolatry actually turns out to be just the worship of ourselves. And I think we're, and by the way, that's why it ends up being your own hell, because anything that you can fully exhaust will become hell eventually. And that's why God, when his revelation of eternal life, is not simply a place that we go to. It is his presence. The place is marked with the presence, just like in Exodus 3.
Starting point is 00:04:45 And so the correlation between the name of God, not being, he's not definable. that way, and also the very nature of who he is in the burning bush is that he doesn't need anything else outside of himself to sustain his existence, as you see in the burning bush. The bush is burning, but the bush isn't being consumed. So what that means is that the fire does not need material to burn. It just burns. It's an ultimate energy source that sustains itself, which means you cannot exhaust it. and that is the nature of idolatry is to take and try to make God exhaustible.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Not going to work, by the way, it's futile. But that is what makes it an idol, is that you're attempting to make God exhaustible. Exactly. Best point of the day. That's because that describes what he was talking about in First Corinthians, eight, Paul was. He was like, oh, there's lots of gods. But there's one father and there's one Lord, and there are one, which is where we're going to this.
Starting point is 00:05:45 So I set up the debate, the Jews were. struggling to wrap their head around that they're like this guy's making himself equal god we're serving the one god what what are you representing well when he gets to john 10 and you'll remember this oh he just goes ahead and says it yeah he says in 16 at the back half of it he says they too will listen to my voice and there shall be one flock and one shepherd you know remember when he was given that illustration all of a sudden he starts bringing up this one idea well one when we think of I mean, that's one of the first things I learned as a human. One, two, I know what one is, but after you read the book of John, it makes you reconsider what one is.
Starting point is 00:06:33 That's interesting. Oh, exactly. And I'm telling you, we come to the Bible with human limitations and we're missing his point, which is so powerful that, you're literally putting your brain to the test of explosion. Yeah. Because it's like, when you get to the end of that prayer of John 17, that is so deep what he's saying that you can't just read over and say, oh, I got that.
Starting point is 00:07:02 As we're one and we can, we shared this love, this common bond before the creation, we're going to pass that on to you, even though you can't be as humans, one. And so what he came up, he invented a phrase, which is primarily only used in John and first John, which is love one another. Yeah. Because you can't be that relationship of God and Jesus, because they are one, even though they're distinct. Right. That's why when you read the prayer in John 17, he's constantly saying, I'm in the father, the father's in me, and I'll be in you. Right. Now that, all that's fine. But he never says, you'll be in somebody else.
Starting point is 00:07:48 Right. Now, you just love one another. It's the closest resemblance that you can get to who he is. Which is interesting Jay's because it's back to the ultimate illustration and we bring this up a lot. In the garden, the closest thing we have
Starting point is 00:08:04 to this sort of thinking on earth is another challenge to your math. One plus one equals one. When people get married, you have a covenant relationship of oneness with another person. That's it. And the two will become one flesh.
Starting point is 00:08:19 Right. But God is bigger than flesh. You know. Exactly. I mean, it's a poor illustration, but it's the closest we have. But I think,
Starting point is 00:08:27 I'm glad you brought it up because I think I thought the same thing. It's when the word became flesh. That's the limitations that were brought in because of love that's described in Philippians too. Correct. So, but if you get back to this idea of oneness,
Starting point is 00:08:43 so in John 10 and verse 30, He just says it. I mean, there's six words in this verse. I and the father are one, which is what eventually led him to be killed. It did. That statement, I and the father are one. Because they deem that as blasphemous
Starting point is 00:09:07 because they thought one is one. Right. And he's like, no. He didn't say three is one, but he's fixed to bring up the Holy Spirit. And they also missed all of their own history of what the Messiah was really designed to do. Yeah. They thought it was going to be to topple Rome.
Starting point is 00:09:25 They missed the whole point of what the Messiah was here. That's why we try to name it. That's where the whole idea that Trinity came with something. Well, we need to give him a name. Yeah, trying. And I'm trying to tell you, stop doing that. He's bigger than a name. Give him a name.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Give him BB. Burning Bush. That tells you all you need to know. The bush won't burn up. And they're like, well, what do we call that? We call that power. Yeah, exactly. And I don't have it.
Starting point is 00:09:56 And he said, I want to give it to you. So just shut up. Yeah. And just, I'll be with you. Don't worry about that. I mean, that's kind of what you want to say in between the lines of that conversation with Moses. Because you literally feel when you look at it the way we broke it down of not frustration. but God just look at him like, I'm with you.
Starting point is 00:10:18 That'll cover it. But you know what's interesting, Jay's is that Jesus is so loving that he embraced the limitations. Because when they said Jesus of Nazareth, and then he said he responds back with the I-N, which goes all the way back to what you're talking about, the burning bush. But he lets that stand with Jesus of Nazareth. And we know already from our study, remember that when he says he's from Nazareth, immediately most of them rejected him because it's like, well, good thing could come out of there.
Starting point is 00:10:51 Can't be him. I mean, he embraced even that, being from a region of Israel that other people looked down on. He was like, yeah, Jesus and Lazarus, I am. I am who I am, you know, which is so much bigger. We don't want to talk about our limitations at all. So I want to bring up this because it's going to make, this is going to make more sense when we get to John 18.
Starting point is 00:11:11 So you remember in John 11 after the resurrection, all of a sudden they want to, I mean the resurrection of Lazarus? then they're wanting to kill him because it scared them because they thought, well, everybody's following him now. He's pulled off some trick where he can raise the dead. Yeah, well, we got to kill him, which is just so wild. And kill the guy that he raised. Yeah. So in verse 50 or 49, here this kifis who's going to reemerge in the trials comes up.
Starting point is 00:11:37 And he was high priest. Well, our high priest that God designed is Jesus just prayed for the world, as our representative. Going back to his original prayer in Matthew that we read, Matthew 6, our father, hallow be your name, your kingdom come, which is, it did come. The king came, Mark I. Jesus said the time is here. We now need nobody in between us and him.
Starting point is 00:12:05 Yeah, I'm bringing heaven and earth. I'm bringing heaven to earth. Yes. So all that. So Caiaphas says, you know nothing at all. You do not, this is 1150, you do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish. He didn't realize what he said. It's very prophetic.
Starting point is 00:12:32 And I'm not saying that. That's what the next verse says. He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation. Isn't that interesting? I wonder where that came from. somebody who can make a bush not burn up is where it came from. And not only for that, this is 52, that nation, but also for the scattered children of God to bring them together.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Well, here it is again. And make them one. So, oh, here's an idea. One man's going to die so that everybody can become one. And who is everybody? Everybody. Watch how this works. This is so cool.
Starting point is 00:13:17 So then when you get to 17, we didn't do this last time. So 17 in the prayer, verse 11, I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I'm coming to you, Holy Father. Protect them by the power of your name, the name that you gave me. Well, here's the next phrase.
Starting point is 00:13:39 So that they may be one as well, We are one. So he introduced that same thought that came from John 11 and John 10. So then, verse 21A, that all of them may be one. So he prayed also for all who believe in the message, verse 20, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us so that here's the key so that the world may believe that you have sent me yeah well this echoes john 13 and i'll come right back here i didn't notice this till last night
Starting point is 00:14:30 we should have brought this up which is why i'm doing it now so watch what john 13 after he washed their defeat uh wash their feet and their defeat yes so let's listen to Listen to this. 34. A new command I give you, love one another as I have loved you. So you must love one another. And there's that idea of one another. But this next verse is what I miss.
Starting point is 00:14:57 By this, everyone, everyone will know that you are my disciples. Yeah. If you love one another. So he echoes that. And John, I mean, he will. pick that back up in John 17 so that the world may know. Well, now this makes more sense of John 316. For God to love the world that he sent his son.
Starting point is 00:15:22 But it didn't just stop there. He then is saying, when we finish reading John 17 and where I was in 21, that's 21. May they also be in us, so the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me and that they may be one as we are one I and them 23 you and me so that they may be brought to and here we go
Starting point is 00:15:55 perfect one perfect unity I and them and you and me so that they may be brought to ultimate oneness then he says it again the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me so then he gets down to the end and says righteous father though the world does not know you i know you and they know that you have sent me i have made you known to them and will continue to make known
Starting point is 00:16:34 in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them. Well, that's the whole mission of God summed up. Yeah. And we can be apart. Yeah, the other echo that you have here is the echo from Exodus, which was Moses's big concern and going to the promised land, going to the place, or one of his big concerns,
Starting point is 00:17:01 was that how would they know that were your people? how will they know? And so Moses was connecting the identity of Israel to the name of God. And so that passage you just read for the New Testament that they'll actually know our identity is marked by the way that we love one another. Well, how do we love one another?
Starting point is 00:17:26 Well, love is the fruit of the spirit. Well, how do I get the spirit? God has to live in me. And so now you see the presence, again, being attached to identity. The presence makes the place holy. The presence is in us. And that's where we ultimately get our identity
Starting point is 00:17:41 from. So all these echoes, these are echoes from Eden. These are echoes from the Exodus. These are echoes from the entire Old Testament. But the point of it is right here in Jesus. That's the point of the entire thing. Let me read this. I got to read this.
Starting point is 00:17:57 It's so good. Based on everything, Joseph's been talking about, in Acts 4, Peter and John have healed again. guy. And so now we're, now we're 2.0. And listen, the characters are the same. Annas, the high priest was there. So was Caius. So there they are. The high priest family. Round two. Jesus, the other one man died. We got rid of him. Nope, you didn't. They had Peter and John brought before them by what power or what name. Did you do this? The healing. Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, because there's Jesus in him, said to them rulers and elders of the people,
Starting point is 00:18:35 if we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel. It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is the stone you builders rejected,
Starting point is 00:18:54 which has become the capstone. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under having given to men by which you must be saved. Love it. Just 2.0, it's just the same characters. So I want to give an echo, because I'm looking over my notes, want to make sure you get all this in.
Starting point is 00:19:14 So this also echoes leading into Philippians too, which Zach brought up last podcast. If you go to Isaiah 45, you're going to see an interesting thing. Speaking of the father, and I don't know any other way to describe him, because now I'm conscious about how I'm labeling God, but the Lord, so now we're in the Old Testament. If you read Isaiah 45, verse 5 through 7, it says, I am that Lord. I am the Lord.
Starting point is 00:19:46 And there is no other. Apart from me, there is no God. But you see why they're saying there's only one God. Right. But watch how this happens. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me, so that from the rising of the sun to the place. of its setting, people may know
Starting point is 00:20:04 there is none beside me. I am the Lord. There is no other. I form the light and create the darkness. I bring prosperity. Create disaster. I, the Lord, do all these things. But when you skip down and read 23,
Starting point is 00:20:21 this becomes interesting. By myself, I have sworn my mouth has uttered in all integrity. A word will not be revoked a word will not be revoked before me every knee will bow by me every tongue will confess well who quoted that scripture later guy named Paul yeah philippine too but i want you to notice where he went with this because we're talking about god the father here the one that was at the burning bush
Starting point is 00:21:01 talking to moses but guess who paulius but guess who paul Paul references that to in Philippians 2-5. In your relationships with one another have the same attitude as Christ Jesus, who being very equal with God, same word used in John 5. Did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage. Rather, he made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human lightness, and being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself, became obedient.
Starting point is 00:21:33 it to death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth. And every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father. So now, Paul is using the same.
Starting point is 00:22:03 Isaiah 45 echo about God to Jesus who became a man. And so I did all that just to read one more because what we're basically saying is the name is bigger than a name. It's just bigger. And you see this reference in Revelation 2 in verse 17 when he, John, through the Holy Spirit, in this dream, writes this letter to these seven churches. And at the end of the church to Pergamum 17, watch what he says. I find this interesting.
Starting point is 00:22:43 To the one who is victorious, I will give him some of the hidden manna. And we remember that story where that's going back to. Moses and God supplying the Lord will provide. I will also give that person a white, stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it. And I've read that verse before and thought, what is that talking about? But now, after everything we've just gone through, you understand, when you surrender to
Starting point is 00:23:21 Jesus, you've now discovered something that's very hard. If somebody said, no, what name? No, we would say Jesus. Right. based on Philippians too. But the name of God is complex. Yeah, yeah. I think we've proven that because it is,
Starting point is 00:23:39 he is a being that sustains, and by just getting him down to one name and trying to check that box off, you're limiting who God is. Yeah. But we get it, and we have him inside the spirit of him, this being who loves us.
Starting point is 00:23:59 Right. and wants us to be a part of this eternal love and use us to show the world that God loves them. Yeah. And that was this prayer in John 17. I mean, that's put with all the name references and the one references and the world within the world references, and I'm a giver because, and we never touched on that aspect about giving. But now you see why all these other religions who have just one God, who's just one, he's not a community. which I don't even know how to describe God.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I mean, can we say community or Trinity? He's one God, but he's... It's a relationship. Now you see why, if it's just one, we've lost love. Yeah. What was he doing by himself? Right.
Starting point is 00:24:45 That's a form of hell. Loneliness is terrible. And so now you see why God is above all gods, above all names. He's a communal being that wants to share. that love, which is why we're all here. Yeah. No, that's good. And I think
Starting point is 00:25:04 the rabbit hole that Jay's went on, we got right to it when he went back. If you go back to John 18, Jesus knowing all this is going to happen, is that who is it you want? And then verse 5, Jesus of Nazareth, there's the name. I am he, Jesus
Starting point is 00:25:19 said, and Judas, the traitor, was standing there with him. So he's there. When Jesus said, I am he, they drew back and fell to the ground. It makes sense to me now. Yeah. I think it's a burning bush moment.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Right. He declared the presence of God. What they should have done when he said, I am he is they should have all started taking off their sandals or their, with the soldiers who had sandals. Yeah, probably so. Yeah, they should have put all their weapons down. They should have bowed a knee, and they should have said,
Starting point is 00:25:55 our bad. Yeah. Because they did fall out. And it's interesting because everybody that everybody you read about this It says it was either the biggest comedy of errors Everybody falls down at the same time Or something was so powerful I read the same thing
Starting point is 00:26:09 These scholars, they're like Well, why would that happen? Yeah Why are we asking that? He said I am he and they all fell to the ground That's right Well, is that an earthquake? Maybe
Starting point is 00:26:22 Maybe But if he can make a bush Now I keep going back to this bush Because I just, I think we read that. Oh, okay. And remember, when John wrote this down, you know, it had already happened. He's writing it and then telling us what happened. So he has the realization.
Starting point is 00:26:42 He writes us after the resurrection. So I think he saw what happened in the moment. He didn't know what was going. None of them did. They're running. They're scattering. You know, Jesus says let him go. But later when they look back, they were like, when he said who he was, they all went
Starting point is 00:26:57 down. They went down. I mean, and look, this was hundreds of people. So it really is fascinating when you see it. And to me, it just solidifies the idea that when Jesus says, you don't take my life, I give it. I give it. I mean, that shows you how powerful that statement is because he's showing that in the moment. They came to take him, but he is like, no. So why are we surprised when you see that people out sharing Jesus and, you know, they get martyred? It's happened. since the beginning of time, this continues to happen because the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
Starting point is 00:27:37 This is a weapon of love. We're doing this because we love people. And where did we get that? We got it from God. Right. I mean, he literally put his claim of love, being love, he put it on full display for the world. There's a reason he is the most known Jesus, I'm referring to, a person to ever walk the planet. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Because there was no crime that they could find. Right. Everything he did was good, even in the history books. You know, everybody's commenting on Jesus. There's nothing. There's no accusation with any kind of evidence. Oh, well, he did have this woman on the side over here. You know how everybody, it always say that about, you know, in our culture now,
Starting point is 00:28:20 even when we reference someone who wrote a commentary or whatever, I haven't read the comments, but I will guarantee you, somebody will not like whoever guy you referenced. Like I referenced last podcast that Richard Baukham, I don't know his personal life. I don't know his even denominational faith. But I know one thing, he did a really good lesson on the name of God and the oneness.
Starting point is 00:28:44 So we always have a caveat. We'll mention somebody and we'll say, well, I don't necessarily agree with everything they said. I mean, I could say that about Charlie Kirk. I've watched enough videos. Do I agree with everything he said? No. Does that matter to me?
Starting point is 00:29:00 No. But I agree with his stance on Jesus being the first thing you should talk about. And that's the way we should be. Having said all that, with Jesus, I agree with everything he said. Yeah, there's nothing. There's nothing to sign. But you know what I find fascinating now? I've said to people, look, let's just agree on Jesus and go from there when I've been in a disagreement.
Starting point is 00:29:24 But I have met people. that say no. No. I don't believe that. And boy, that really bothers me. Yeah. You know, I'm like, we don't have to agree on everything to love each other. Let's agree on who Jesus is and God.
Starting point is 00:29:39 And just go from there. That's the foundation. They're like, no. Not enough. That's not enough. Not enough. And I'm like, well, what are the, now give me the list. And let me see if we can have a relationship here.
Starting point is 00:29:54 because you basically said that won't work as the foundation. And don't you find that troublesome? Very troublesome. And look, again, we're looking at this text and what we're about to get into with the rest of the narrative. And when people miss it and they miss Jesus, terrible things happen. And that's what happens here. I mean, this thing turns violent really quick. In fact, it turns violent right after this happens.
Starting point is 00:30:21 Let me read the rest of this little first little section because we want to be. because we won't have time to get into the rest of this podcast. We'll pick it up next time. He said, so they fell down. Well, do you want to read, have we read the first? Well, you kind of did, but I'll just read that one thing. When he had finished praying, Jesus left his disciples across the Kidron Valley, which is some interesting history with that.
Starting point is 00:30:42 On the other side, there was an Olive Grove, and he and his disciples went into it. Judas who betrayed him, do the place because Jesus had often met there with his disciples. So this was a personal place for them. Judas came to the grove guiding a detachment of soldiers, and we talked about that. That's hundreds of people. And some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees, they were carrying torches, lanterns, and weapons for these 12 men. Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen, said, who is it you want?
Starting point is 00:31:09 Jesus of Nazareth, I'm he. They all fall down. And then he says, who is it? No, I'm he. Yeah, he says again, verse seven. Right, in verse seven. he says it again, and he asked him, who is it you want? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
Starting point is 00:31:26 I told you that I am here. If you are looking for me, then let these men go, which that fulfills that protecting of the, remember he said in the prayer. He said, I'll protect them by my name. And he did, because they let them go. Well, I think, too, Al, we're missing. So the first time he said it,
Starting point is 00:31:45 they all fall back. So we have had a distraction from somewhere beyond something supernatural something supernatural so it's like almost I mean if this wasn't so morbid and unjust
Starting point is 00:32:01 it would be it would be comical because these like now after that just happened who is it who is it that you want well now that people they were probably bewildered
Starting point is 00:32:15 and scared because they just falling on their back and they're trying to figure out what's happening, which is why the conversation repeated itself. Right, exactly. This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled. I have not lost one of them he gave me, which he just said in the prayer. So I believe because of what's happened, this is what motivates Peter, but I could be wrong.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Then Peter, Simon Peter, who had a sword, so he brought a sword with him. Yeah, I think God intervened or at the pronouncement of his name, because they had weapons. Yeah. Well, now they fall back. Something's happened, which kind of scared them. I don't care if you're a soldier or not. Something out of this world happened to you.
Starting point is 00:33:00 And you're like, what in the world? And so then he goes this fulfilled prophecy because he didn't want anybody else to die. Right. Because him being arrested, which is how God is. He loves people and he had a mission for them. Exactly. Show the world that I'm real. And I came from God.
Starting point is 00:33:18 And he gave him his word. He was going to protect. The problem was the people that he was trying to keep their weapons down, they got it over this ink, whatever this was, them all falling down. But the people with him, specifically Peter, he missed it. So he drew it, and we'll talk about this next thing. He drew it and struck the high priest's servant cutting off his right ear. This is Malchus.
Starting point is 00:33:42 Which is not a, we view this as a minor injury. This might cut your ear off. I would call that major if I was the one, my ear cut off. Because he either was trying to kill him and he just nicked him or, you know, some people said maybe did this to disfigure him where he wouldn't, but I don't know, probably too much into it. Oh, no. I think he probably tried to whack him and the guy moved.
Starting point is 00:34:03 Yeah, exactly. And they were soldiers. So, so Jesus says, put your sword away. Shall I not drink the cup the father's give me. And so then we'll get into the trials and stuff next time. But we're out of time for this segment. We do have a guest coming on for our last segment today. We're going to take a break when we come back.
Starting point is 00:34:22 We'll introduce her. So welcome back to Unashamed. We have one of our favorite returning guests as well as sponsors of our podcast, Kim Bright, who's the founder of Bright Core Nutrition. And she's been on to talk about kimchi, which is a wonderful product. She's been on the podcast before, but welcome back, Kim. Oh, hey, Al. Hey, Zach.
Starting point is 00:34:45 How are you all doing? We're making it. We're not talking about chickens today, are we? No more chicken. He's got all the chicken talk. I think we've covered chickens very well. Good, good, good. But, you know, I do want to talk about, because you sent some interesting stuff to us about aging.
Starting point is 00:35:02 And I have to say, you know, probably for this last year, I've become more health conscious, Kim, because I lost a lot of weight this last year. And some of it was just because it need to be done. But I think some of it is kind of a sense of urgency, you know, ever since dad's health began to decline, I kind of had that feeling like, you know, I don't have, I'm limited on the earth. I only got a certain amount of time. And I want to get as much done as I can in the time I have. And so I think Dad kind of instill that in me. And then this crossing over for him reminded me of that. I mean, we understand immortality.
Starting point is 00:35:37 We understand eternal life because of our relationship with Christ. But while we're here, we're going to do as much as we can, right? And so talk about that a little bit about the aging process and really how this particular product really helps us have some better years to be able to share. Well, you know, I read these articles where, you know, over in China, you know, the leader over there in Putin and Kim Jong-yong, they were all making fun about immortality and they're going to be immortal and they're going to use organ transplants and other people. And it's so evil, you know, they look at other, they look at people not as having souls, but to
Starting point is 00:36:19 to be used, but, you know, the rest of us, our life expectancy is declining. So for the first time in 30 years, global life expectancy declined. And, of course, COVID was blamed for that. But it actually started in 2014. And the reason that people are aging so quickly is, you know, we've got more, we're dealing with more toxins in our air, our soil, our food, and other external factors like, you know, unnecessary pharmaceuticals, antibiotics, and vaccines that are so overused. And those haven't been around that long. So, you know, the aging, our aging, you know, of course, ties in with three things. Cellular metabolism, inflammation, oxidative stress. That's when all the free radicals take over and they rust us from the inside out. But most people don't understand that
Starting point is 00:37:14 we can actually fight that cellular aging with something called kimchi, which has been around for centuries in Korea. And they actually did a study, Zach and Al, where they did it what's called in vitro, where they took young cells, middle-aged cells, and older cells, put them in test tubes, aged them fast with hydrogen peroxide. And then they took an extract of kimchi and actually put them in each of those. And you know what? It delayed the inflammation process, but it actually slowed the aging of those cells, no matter what age those were. And so, of course, when we slow that cellular, that aging down on the cellular level, we're slowing down the aging of our tissues, which is the combination of our cells. And of course, that's ultimately going to slow the aging of
Starting point is 00:38:06 our bodies. And we're not doing something against nature. We're not doing something artificial. You know, we're not talking about immortality here. Of course, as you said, people aren't supposed to live forever, but, you know, not except in heaven with our Lord Jesus. But, you know, while we're here, we want to take care of our bodies. And kimchi is the thing to do. I'm sure you all are aware of parasites. I'm sure you're all aware of moles and fungus. And people get that overgrowth of candida, which is yeast.
Starting point is 00:38:38 And, you know, when we get older, we're getting more susceptible, these things we've got to pay attention to, Al, because when you're older, your immune system drops. The viruses take over easier. The funguses like Candida just spread like crazy. And the parasites are able to invade because our skin's getting thinner, it breaks open, and those parasites can just get in, you know, comes from our dogs, come from different things we touch. But Kimchi's shown that it has the power to battle. all these microbials naturally and effectively. Yeah, and it's not, I mean, obviously, you guys are kind of dealing with that,
Starting point is 00:39:17 the sort of internal, the gut and digestive side of this thing, but it spreads to everything, right? I mean, we're talking about mental acuity, all of it. I mean, like, that health comes kind of first from this idea of what's inside and then what comes in and attacks us, right? Most definitely. I mean, you hit the nail on the head, Al. If you don't take care of your gut and your gut, and your gut, gut is where all of the health either originates or where all the sickness originates.
Starting point is 00:39:47 And you've got a balance there that you've got to keep in balance. And that's the good guys and the bad guys. And again, it goes back to all those pathogens I just mentioned, the yeast, the molds, the viruses, the bad bacteria, all those. God put them there in order to break our body down when we're ready to die. But we're not ready to die, right? You said, you want to live as long as you can and help as many people as you can. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:40:13 So you've got to keep those pathogens in a balance where they're not doing that work yet, where they're just kind of sitting off to the side. And you've got to feed your good guys, the guys that promote all that health in your gut. You know, 70, 80% of our health is of our immune systems and our gut. And that gut has a communication line to our brain, as you mentioned, to our heart. to our skin everywhere in our body. So when we make our gut healthy with healthy good bacterias, then you're going to increase your longevity.
Starting point is 00:40:51 You're going to increase your health. And, you know, that's what we're all trying to do. We're trying to live good, healthy lives. So we don't want to be sick. You know, you don't want to be sick. You can't go to church when you're sick. Can't study when you're sick. You can't read the Bible when you're sick.
Starting point is 00:41:06 Don't feel like it. So let's get healthy. interesting. I was reading an article the other day about how many, I'm probably going to get this wrong, but serotonergic receptors are in your gut and the correlation between even your mental health and what's in your, I mean, it's kind of, no one thinks about that, but we got a friend, I may have mentioned this last time we talked, Dr. Aiman, with the Aynne clinics, and he's a psychiatrist, but he talks a whole lot about, he says a lot of mental illness is not actually mental illness at all. Could be like brain injury. It could be like some gut issues, what we eat,
Starting point is 00:41:41 or ingesting in our bodies. And so for me, I think the wake up moment was understanding that even beyond the inflammation and the physical part, the mental part is also associated with what's going on your gut. Maybe you can speak a little bit on that because I think that's another added, it's a huge benefit of making sure that our cancer healthy. You've got those neurotransmitters that are even our hormones you know they they're all they're all tied in with our gut and you're your you're happy hormones you know your your happy hormones are made down there and the things that allow you to uh have even keel throughout the day and not get anxiety so much all that is is tied in with our gut health and people that have you know PTSD and and have uh you know problems
Starting point is 00:42:33 sleeping and problems with their anxiety and all this stuff is all tied back to gut health. And if you're eating, you know, all these convenience foods or fast foods or foods that I call basically dead foods that you buy in the middle of the grocery stores, you know, and over-processed foods, those tear down your gut. So guess what that's going to do to your brain. Guess that's what that's going to do to your skin. Guess what that's going to do to your heart? you are going to not feed the things that you need to feed in your body that's going to give you good brain health and good heart health.
Starting point is 00:43:12 So, you know, that's why we created kimchi one, because after doing so much research on, you know, I've been doing this almost 50 years, after looking at all the diets around the world and who was living the longest and who had the best health and, you know, who looked the youngest and all this, you know, Kimmer. she stood out among all the other fermented foods. And yet there's so many people that I, you know, would have over and try and get them to eat the kimchi or try and make the kimchi. And they were like, oh, I can't eat this stuff. It smells funny. It smells bad. And, you know, I don't want to mess with it.
Starting point is 00:43:52 And then when they finally tasted, I can't take this taste. But there was so many benefits. And the importance of eating it daily is why I wanted to make this. into a capsule so people would actually take it. And also, a lot of people have problems with sodium. You know, they're on low sodium diets. So when you're eating homemade kimchi or you're buying it from the store, it's high in sodium. So kimchi 1 virtually has, you know, little to no sodium.
Starting point is 00:44:25 And I'll tell you what, so many people when they do take kimchi 1 and they're able to take it every single day and they do take it every single day. Their digestion improves so incredibly and their regularity. I've had so many people say, I used to have gas coming out both ends. You know, I was bloated. And I'm not that anymore. And then they don't get sick as much. Their immunities kicked in better. Their energy levels. Chronic fatigue's gone. They're living their life to its fullest. You know, and as Al said, that's what he wants to do. And a lot of people that had this stubborn, weight that they just couldn't budge, they've reduced it. They've reduced their waistlines. They've reduced their BMI. And people notice they're looking healthier. Their skin is healthier. Again,
Starting point is 00:45:12 that gut-to-skin connection, that communication line shows us if you've got bad stuff on the outside of your body, it's on the inside and vice versa. So, you know, people notice that. And then they're aware, my gut must be getting better. Their hair's thicker and shinier. And, you know, so many people were experiencing health problems and they didn't even know what the cause was. And now they're better. Yeah. And that's the, you know, out of all the compliments that I've gotten on losing weight and getting healthier, the one I like the most is you look healthier, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:46 And that's exactly right. And I didn't even, to be honest, I didn't expect that given my age at 60. But I found out you can be healthy if you get that inside working correctly, you know, and get that weight off. I saw the Secretary of Defense is saying, we got to get our fighting, you know, force fit again. You know, we got too much obesity going on. I thought we need to send him some kinchy one to the Department of Defense. That's right.
