I am unashamed.
What about you?
Whoa, that was a good belt there.
Sai says it's not bad manners if it was good food.
What's that mean?
If you belch, he said that's not bad manners if the food was good.
Yeah, oh, yeah.
So there you go.
Welcome back to Unashamed.
Be careful about quoting Saa.
He does say.
I don't know what happens when we started.
podcast quoting sigh that's that's a little bit scary well he does have that skill i mean he is a
tremendous belcher yeah uncle sigh yeah he is as in just like well he can like uh dab is like that too
they can say words with belches oh yeah they they they they do it's like a it's like a man i think
is what happens when your family is raised in a one room house and you're just looking for things to be
humor, just anything to laugh at.
I remember driving up looking at the house they lived in.
I mean, there's seven kids.
And I just...
Oh, it was...
It was smaller than the studio.
I just couldn't believe it.
I thought, wow, this is where I came from.
Yeah.
Zach, it's a wonder we're still...
This generation is still around.
We're talking about no running water and stuff like that.
My dad would go through the process.
of discovering water in a bathtub.
They had one of those deals where you crank it like it's a pump that does the water hand pump outside.
So that's the bathing apparatus was a number three wash tub with water out of that hand pump.
And they went oldest to the youngest, poor old size.
Yeah.
By the time he gets in the tub, their water is brown.
Yeah, but you did your hand pump because.
of the hurricane, right?
Well, my hand pump is, it's, it's just
aesthetic. Like you
pull it up and then the water just starts
coming. There's no pumping. It just looks like a
pump. But the handle is actually the
how you turn it on. It's just
a fake pump. It's a facade.
It's fake. It's fake news.
I got you. But you got
the water pump because you were out of water
for. Oh, I did put a water. No, I did dig
a well on my property
and I haven't
quite got it connected yet. I still
I kind of procrastination. You know, we struggle with procrastination around my house.
And so I have procrastinated connecting it. I got to leak in the pipes. I got to dig some stuff up.
It's a whole thing. It's a whole thing.
Oh, that's the story. So you sent me some, speaking of fake news, you sent me a picture this morning,
apparently a viral picture that's fake of Willie and Corey with a child.
And some person or some group on social media is claiming that they had a child.
which we can debunk this.
This is not true
for those of you out here that wonder.
But my favorite line is for nine months,
they remained remarkably private.
Willie and Corey,
see, Willie Robertson and his wife,
Corey Robertson have just caused a stir
on social media with a surprise
no one saw coming, Jace.
They caused the stir.
This never happened.
And now you're aiding and the betting.
We're not saying who did it.
We're just saying it was out there.
We're just saying this was a,
This was a viral clip that went out there.
When I can tell you word, it's fake news.
They do this for money.
And in the spirit of my dad, let me get my reading glasses on,
which will make this more powerful.
Let me see here.
So they're doing this for money.
They come up with a fake story.
For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant.
Its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed.
In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business.
So my question is that, so does somebody actually write this copy or is that AI as well?
Somebody just, the whole thing is fake, the copy's fake.
Because listen to the whole thing.
It's a money-making scheme.
Standing beside him was Corey Robertson, her radiant smile expressing a joy that words could hardly capture.
That's got to be AI.
That's got to be AI.
That a person wouldn't write that.
A real person.
I told somebody the other day, I'm at a point in my life now where people can make stuff up about me.
And it doesn't get any traction because they've done so many of these things to my family.
Oh, I mean, that's, I just laugh.
I'm almost above being canceled because there's been so many lies and so many fake stories that most people.
Jay's, there's, in my, my inner family, we got the OG thread, there's pictures of fake
pictures of you in there because you're crying all over the internet.
It's just like these fake AI pictures of you sad because I died, you know, 27 times.
Yeah.
But I just say it's part of being a known or a public figure, I guess.
I think it's a spiritual thing.
I mean, I think if you go public for Jesus, I think people,
one try to
tear you down
because it's kind of that
delusional mentality
because I remember this back in high school
when I was sharing Jesus with my friends
they attacked me
and I kept asking
well why not just let me do this
why do you have to say something about
why do you have to make fun of it
it's like well
if nobody makes it
surely it wouldn't destroy us all
and I mean that was my
buddies's mindsets.
They thought if nobody
will stick to it, if there
is a God, which we don't believe
there is at this stage of our life,
well, Shirley's not going
to destroy everybody. That was their
mindset. So maybe that's
the delusion that's going on.
It could be part of it. And then the second thing is they
were just
easy to make money
on, because they don't like us anyway.
So just make stuff up. And part of it
is just people are
bored with their own life and so they like to do things about other people that you're out there
and so we're just and that's the thing with social media we got it we're hiding behind our little
fake avatar and we can just make comments every day about stuff we like or don't like and
well it's just all has become that element to it do you realize there's a lot of people having long
lasting conversations and relationships with with someone they think is a person yeah it's not even a
person they're not even a person
just think and they don't know it
it's really
sometimes they do know it and they
I mean there's been
well at this point yeah
it's just gotten
yeah
the lack of real connection
real human connection
I used to tell this as
when we were doing college ministry
this is before
AI and I had like a whole thing
I would do
where I would say okay
imagine that I had the perfect
mate for you
I mean this person they
if it's talking to girls
but he looks exactly like you've always wanted your husband look or if it's a guy, a woman.
Everything's the right personality, everything, not too nice.
They got a little spice and there's just enough to keep it interesting.
Everything you've always wanted.
The only caveat is behind the left ear there's a mole.
And if you push that mole, their face comes off and it's actually an android.
Would you be interested in that relationship?
And they used to say, everyone would say no.
And the point I was trying to make is that God is a relational God.
he wants a relationship with his people.
He's not trying to build robots.
Now, though, it's kind of interesting because I think if you ask people that, they might say,
yeah, I'll be okay with that.
I'd be okay with artificial, like a relation, not a relationship, but the facade of a relationship
with an artificial bot that is curated to respond, how I want to respond.
I think we've had a significant cultural shift in that, which is kind of interesting to me.
Well, and it's interesting that even, you can always tell when you start seeing how people
try to, as Jay's mentioned, about making money, which is kind of the point of that whole
farce we talked about with William Corey.
But there's a commercial out right now.
It's a bank commercial.
But it starts out with the guy, with all the different interfaces he has, you know,
with artificial intelligence or robot, you know, it's the something making coffee.
I guess that's the thing.
I mean, all these things I don't know.
I've never seen it for it.
I know there's cars that there's no driver.
So he gets in there and the computer's talking to him.
He's just kind of like sighing because it's like everything is artificial.
And he goes to the bank, and this is the people trying to make in the commercial.
And their thing is, hey, we got real people here.
And they'll really talk to you.
And he comes in.
And it's so funny because he sits down and it's got his name on the person's computer screen like, you know, Dave's financial future.
You know, like he would go sit down to the bank and that's what would come up on a computer screen.
But the whole deal is if you want to talk to real people, we're.
the bank for you. And I thought, once you start seeing people say, hey, here's something different,
a human interaction, that tells you you've gone a long way the other way. That's the different
thing now. And that's the different thing, right. Yeah, the shocking thing is you can actually
talk to a real person. Yeah, we got real people here. And they're like, oh, that would be fantastic.
Which I do think there is, you know, we had natural, we were talking about this sort of revival
among young people. And I think there is probably something to that, you know, the penchant.
them always swings and so that's so much fake I think they're looking for something real I mean and
and we know what real is real is what we've been talking about for the last eight years
absolutely which is so much better it's just it's gotten over the edge it's it's kind of gone
into the fabric of our society now so Zach do you remember uh the time when it just kind of
seemed all of a sudden like you know you never had to think about weight and then all of a sudden you
did. Yeah. Oh, yeah, probably ever since I turned about 40. Yeah, and that's similar for me. I think
maybe 45. And what I was missing was what our good friends that PhD weight loss have taught me.
They're teaching me how to focus and rechange my lifestyle and especially how it relates to metabolism
and restoring that metabolism so that my body can work with me and not against me. That's when
real change happens. Here's a picture of me. Now, this is a year and a half ago at the beginning of
this process. And that was 80 pounds ago. And here I am now. Much more energy. I'm off all my
meds that I was on. I have no CPAP machine anymore. And take the grandkids to the beach and get
out and throw the football and have fun because my life has changed. And PhD has helped me change that.
Right now, when you call and mention Al Robertson, yours truly, you'll get two free weeks and they'll
pay for the cost of your food. That's a $1,500 value right off the bat. Call 864.
644-1900.
That's 864-6-4-900.
Or you can go to my PhD weightloss.com.
Because the goal isn't to lose weight once,
is to never having to start over again.
Again, that's 864-6-44-1900,
or go to my PhD weightloss.com.
Unfortunately, since we're known people,
we're a victim of this.
I just don't like it because it's based on lies.
I mean, I think of John 8,
every time I hear this kind of stuff.
He's the father of all lies of delusion.
Missy and I watched a program the other night.
It was rated R.
It was a documentary,
but you couldn't make this not rated R
because they interviewed people
and they didn't bleep out the cuss words or whatever.
And I don't know where I was when this actually happened in our life
because this story seemed so crazy.
I thought it can't be true.
No, it happened.
And it was a woman in Texas who basically faked a pregnancy.
She couldn't have a kid.
She had had a hysterectomy.
And to try to get a man and have this lifestyle that she had in her mind,
she just, her whole life was a lie.
She had multiple phones, and she kept getting fired from jobs,
and she had these stories about she inherited millions of dollars.
And this whole thing went on, and she's trying to get this man.
and basically she concluded the only way I'm going to get him is if I have a kid.
So she fakes a pregnancy because you're like, well, how could this happen?
I mean, surely he would know during the process, like, what about your private time?
But it was none of that.
She wasn't feeling good.
And I mean, this went on for months.
And she got trapped, basically, until she goes and murders a pregnant woman.
Oh, gosh.
Watched a video on how to do a C-section,
cut the baby out, of course the baby dies.
She gets pulled over by a cop
because she's got her lights flashing.
And she has a baby who's dead.
In her car, she's like, I just had a baby.
Well, they get her to the hospital,
and like, she hasn't had a baby.
I mean, because they did a physical examination.
So then it kind of went through the backstory on how we got here.
And she got convicted.
She's on death row in Texas right now.
And I just thought, how is it possible to go that far down the road of lying?
Yeah, even they showed the interrogations after this happened.
She's like, I had the baby.
I don't know what's wrong with you.
I mean, she never got off of this is what happened.
And I just thought, whoa.
The delusion of deception.
That's what that is.
But what I did notice is all these phones she had and all that she was using these social media platforms with all these different identities to basically function.
And she's going through the pregnancy, validated.
Yeah, right, right.
It was the craziest.
And she had people responding to that.
Which then affirms the lie in her mind.
And all these poor people, including the man she was with, now they're interviewing them.
Yeah.
They're like, they're basically asking, are you that gullible and dumb?
And they're like, yeah.
Least Wild.
I just, I mean, it's just incredible how you can believe a delusion.
Yeah.
That a human being could pull that off in such a true.
travesty and loss of life, just all to try to make the narrative seem believable,
where you literally just go do evil things that are unimaginable.
Yeah.
Well, and I guess that's a perfect segue to our, back to our attacks,
because the last podcast we had, where we were in James 1,
as you said, you did the whole rabbit hole on Don't Be Deceived.
Yeah, now maybe that's why I watched it and justified watching it,
because I thought, well, you're talking about it.
I actually thought that.
I thought you're talking about being deceived and deceiving others.
Right, right, right.
Which is why I don't think this is funny.
Y'all are laughing about my brother.
I mean, I'm not mad or I don't, I just, I'm like, this is the mind of people to try to make a buck, you know.
Just with no regard to human life, they're not considering the well.
being of my brother and his wife.
I mean, there's obviously some human
beings somewhere if we followed
this trail to make
money, but I'm not sure that
everything that Zach Zinnis wasn't
all done by AI.
I mean, like the whole thing.
Oh, I'm sure. It was.
The generation of the
picture, the story,
because it all sounds completely
fake. So there's someone back
there that's the deceiver, you're right.
But for the most part, it's all being done
artificially, which is the ultimate
deception.
Yeah.
Well, they're asking, I mean, without getting into detail.
I mean, I'm involved in difficult situations all the time when it comes to people and marriages and whatever.
But I've noticed, you know, with a couple of them, we'll have a disagreement.
And then all of a sudden we're texting.
Of course, I'm just trying to get them to be humble and follow Jesus.
And they're not wanting to do that.
And so then all of a sudden they start responding in the text chain, this conversation with AI.
And I can see it like one of them.
I saw the Jet-Chat-G-T screenshot in the corner.
And I'm like, really?
Jack, is he talking about you?
Did you do this?
No, but Zach would qualify for doing such things.
But I'm like, so let me get this right.
You can't win the argument on the basis of lifestyle.
So now you're, while we're going through this, you're trying to come up with narratives and get support that is more well written to justify why you just won't humble yourself and be honest and tell the truth.
I mean, oh, it just, that gets frustrating.
This is what people don't understand about AI.
I think a lot of people understand that people still don't get this.
and it kind of shocks me,
that your, whatever your version that you're using,
if you get chat, GBT, GROC, whatever you're using,
Claude, Anthropic, when you put the inputs in,
it's telling you what you want to hear back.
Exactly.
It's a sycophant.
I mean, it's a yes man.
It's a yes man.
So I had a conversation this week,
me and Cole, who's on a production team here with someone
about a particular project we're considering doing.
And they were telling us about all their research.
And it was impressive, I have to admit.
And then we put it into AI and chat GPT said, this is absolutely brilliant and groundbreaking.
And they let that sit.
And they said, and that was AI.
So you know it's good.
And we're like, no, you realize it tells everybody that.
Everybody's a genius.
Your ideas are the best ideas ever.
And so you get into this echo chamber when you're interacting with AI, you're actually
interacting with yourself in a lot of ways. It's pulling other information that you may not have,
but it's a large language model that's meant literally to keep you invested in the whole thing.
And it certainly has limitations, particularly on how you use it. And if you're looking for
like confirmation bias, it's like the ultimate echo chamber. And I think that's where a lot of
people are getting to now. And this is why I think the Bible says that the letter kills and the
spirit gives life because that's all that is. It's letters. It's literally like it's it's word
games. And so if you go into, if I went into, if you made a statement about anything and I
entered your statement into one of my agents or AI tools and said, give me a rebuttal to this.
I can promise you this. It's going to give me a rebuttal. And it's probably going to be a pretty
good rebuttal. But the same, but then if you took what I, what I generated and you put that in
your AI bot and said, give me a rebuttal to this and it would provide a, and this way, this
will just go on forever. And I think that's why you look in Washington, D.C., for example,
and you think, man, we have buildings full of papers, like millions and millions and millions of stacks of
papers that there's just codes, there's just laws, there's regulations. You think, what happens
when you just let the letter take over? Well, you end up with these massive bureaucracies because
it's just an endless game. But the spirit is what gives life. And I think it's one of the
dangers of AI age and the digital age is if we're not careful, well, this is happening.
It does stand in contrast to being led by the spirit.
The spirit, you don't have to have an answer for everything.
Yeah, and you're right.
And the current developments of it are to try to make it more and more seem like it's
your friend.
You know, Jersey, Joe, and so they were touring around with these different voices and, you
know, with one of their AI things.
and so I just happened to be with him a couple of days
and so he he's interacting with it as part of his job
because he's supposed to like he's checking it out
he's working here he's working so it was
and it was a person named Carl
and he would say Carl what about this
and the guy when he when he
not the guy the AI when it's talking back to him
it's like it's his pal you know I mean like he
sounded so pal light like it'd be one of your friends you
and he'd say well you know Joe and he'd go
into this thing because they're trying to make it sound not like the old dad computer voice.
Now he's like, hey, hey, Joe.
Well, here's what you might want to do.
And like he was just like he was, all the languaging now is to try to have the idioms and
it's trying to sound more and more like this is your pal.
This is old car over here.
And I just, when I was listening to it, I just, I kind of reacted like I do this other
time.
I just started laughing.
I was like, it just seemed so fake.
I don't even know.
I couldn't do it.
Joe's doing it because of his job,
but I was like,
I couldn't have conversations with this AI.
Like it's my pal, Carl.
I mean, it just, I don't know.
Where's that really going anyway?
I don't know.
Are they just going to do stuff for us?
So, Al, I don't know if you've checked on the price of insurance
in the last several years,
but it is astronomical if you want to try to get health insurance.
Oh, it gets checked on quite regularly, Zat,
because Lisa and I are self-employed.
So, yeah, we're always battling insurance costs.
Yeah, it really is unaffordable.
which is why I'm excited to tell you about Christian health care ministries.
If you're an American, and especially if you're one of the millions that are buried under medical debt
or trying to afford health insurance, on average, it's actually $805 a month for a single person.
And even with health insurance, options can be limited, sometimes keeping you from choosing the best doctor for what you actually need.
And that's why Christian health care ministries offers a more biblical and an affordable solution.
Because CHM is not health insurance.
It's the original health cost sharing ministry where Christians share the brink.
burden of eligible medical bills together.
You know, anytime you're, you know, out of the market or out of the region and all these
things that you're trying to face because we're trying to get Lisa well from breast cancer.
And then these folks just stepped right in and walked alongside us, which was a huge financial
blessing for us.
Which is why they're nationally endorsed on the Ramsey show.
And since 1981, CHM has satisfied 100% of every eligible medical bill received.
See why believers across the nation are better off of CHM.
Get started today by visiting CH Ministries.
slash unashamed. That's c.h ministries.org slash unashamed. If you listen to Elon Musk and
Sam Altman and some of these guys, yeah, what they're saying is, is that work will be obsolete
in five to ten years. And what's, well, didn't God created this to work? To work.
But that's what I think it hits at the core of what it means to be human. Yeah, the Genesis 128.
It's going to end for some people. But I think some people will buy into the future.
of that and it will look like kind of like
that player ready one movie
and you're just completely immersed in the virtual
world but then I also think
you know this is where I'm like very
optimistic because if you look
throughout history
the Holy Spirit's always provided a counter-reformation
to any type of like threat that would
come and we in our hills still
you know yeah we're talking about how
the you know
Augustine's work and
then coming out of like the
the Roman Empire with Constantine how that
kind of like preserve the church's influence.
And really preserved civilization.
They really did.
I mean, they were going off the rail.
And it went off the rails after the fall of the Roman Empire.
And then, but it was the church that paid the way for the Renaissance.
And then ultimately the Reformation movement, you know, that kind of coincided with
a major advancement in technology, which was the printing press.
And so I think what will happen is there'll be more of a commodity on local, live, embodied
experiences, local churches, life together, kind of, you know, the spirit. And so I think there will be
that, but it is scary like to give yourself over to this virtual world because what it actually,
and there's been a lot of data that's come out on that the screens are actually numbing us.
They're actually, you know, flooding our brains with dopamine addiction and stuff. And so I think
it's like to get away from the screen. Yeah, there's obviously, you know, we're on a screen. You know, we're on a
screen right now. But there's a, there is a limit to it, I think, and you have to regulate. And,
you know, but I say that to say, I'm, I'm a little pessimistic on where things are going on
that side, but I'm optimistic that the kingdom of God will just keep moving forward as an
house. So it's a reminder that this Sunday, Jace, is Faith, Family Freedom, which is
exciting. It's 4 o'clock out at Logtown Estate, which Maddie will drop in the place you can go
and register. We'd like to know you're coming just to help us to know, but we were just days
away, so if you hadn't already done it. We'll be celebrating freedom, and especially freedom in
Christ, and there'll be all kinds of good things out there. We'll actually be selling these
shirts that I have on. I like that. If you're listening, it's basically the story of Jesus.
First Corinthians 15, 1 through 4, which is great. And I'm preaching that Sunday at WFR, so if you're already in
town and when it's come to
White Spree Road we'd love to see you there a lot of you do
every year. Jersey
will have his class as well that starts at 9
and then service at 10 so
bring a chair and some ice
in your Bible. There you go
I thought about when we were talking about
when I read the rich man verse that was from
James 1. Yeah. I don't know if we ever
said this is a direct quote from Isaiah
40. Did we say that?
Which one was that? James White?
Yeah we did. We said that.
Did we? Because when you, when you, I'm not positive, we did.
We did.
If you go to Isaiah 40, where he says it, he starts off talking about John the Baptist in the wilderness.
There'll be a person to prepare the way of the Lord.
And verse 6 says, cry out.
And I said, what shall I cry?
So this is Isaiah, you know, putting this into perspective of John the Baptist coming and eventually,
Jesus, but he says all people are like grass and all their faithfulness or righteousness
is like the flowers of the field. The grass withers and the flowers fall because the breath
of the Lord blows on them. Surely the people are grass. The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever. Of course, then he goes on to say,
Verse 10, see the sovereign Lord comes with power.
He rules with a mighty arm.
His reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.
He tins his flock like a shepherd.
He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart.
And the reason I'm reading this is because then it gets down to when it says,
who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand,
or with the breath of his hand,
marked off the heavens. He's basically saying, there's a God and we're not him, and he's coming.
He has held the dust of the earth in a basket or weighed the mountains on the scales.
Who can fathom, here we go, Zach, the spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor?
Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way?
who was it that taught him knowledge or showed him the path of understanding?
And you see when Jesus did come, he has this moment when he's baptized and the spirit descends on him.
And then God is like, this is my son, you know, whom I love.
So then it says, surely the nations are like a drop in the bucket.
And he gets down to verse 18.
With whom then will you compare God to what image will you liken him?
as for an idol, a metal worker
cast it in a goldsmith
overlays it with gold
and fashion silver chains on it
a person too poor
to present such an offering selects wood
that will not rot
they look for a skilled worker
to set up an idol
that will not topple
so you see where I'm going with this
I think this is just
a form of idolatry
if you put your hopes and dreams
and robots
do you not know
have you not heard, has it not been told you from the beginning, have you not understood
since the earth was founded? He sits and thrown above the circle of the earth, and his people
are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens. He spreads them out like a tent to live in. He
brings princes to naught and reduces rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted,
no sooner are they sown? No sooner do they take root in the ground? Then he blows on them
and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away.
to whom will you compare me
who is my equal says the holy one
lift up your eyes and look to the heavens
who created all this who brings out the starry
hosts because of his great power
mighty strength not one of them is missing
this is longer than I thought
but then he then he says in verse 28
do you not know have you not heard the Lord
is the everlasting God the creator of the ends of the earth
he will not grow tired or weary
and his understanding no one can fathom,
he gives strength to the weary,
increases the power of the weak,
even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall,
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength,
they will sore on wings like eagles.
I just think it's a great backdrop to what we're studying
and in our current cultural age
of not being blinded or deluded or lied to,
thinking there's something out there,
besides the creative of the universe,
that's going to offer anything to your life that's sustaining.
And what you just read was spoken and written over 3,000 years ago.
Yeah, and James is echoing it here.
A thousand years after that was written.
And now we're reading it saying when we got to verse 18, the cycle of life,
because he went through the cycle of death.
But Jesus is coming.
Well, what did Jesus do?
He not only died to show.
show you what real love is, but he then beat death.
So I think that should be our narrative when it says he chose to give us birth to the
word of truth, that we might be kind of a first fruit of all he created.
Because he's using that as a metaphor.
You have the other side of this where we're like grass, which seems so depressing,
which it really does.
We spring up, we're like, well, I'm going to take the world, and then guess what?
rural you weather and die and that's what happens well then you have this first fruits that this new
because that implies this new creation which is in most of the religious arguments i'm having currently
these people have one thing in common the people that i'm arguing with they don't understand
anything about the new creation that they're like what do you keep saying new creation i'm like
i'm not saying that it's all over the new testament jesus
launched it because they're trying to make this old stuff like law keeping compartmentalizing you know
God then it's not having to do with anything in their the way they live their life trying to
make that the thing just kind of what you believe about God instead of actually having a relationship
and what's really helped me in in our studies the last year is when you see righteousness
and faithfulness and the words like that
if you look at the Hebrew definitions of those words,
it's all in the context of a relationship.
I mean, I can give you an example I'd love to with Kane and Abel
when he said, if you'll just do what's right, won't I lift you up?
Remember when he, and this, the reason I was there is because when he said,
we might become kind of a first fruit of all he created,
well, that word, if you look up where it's used in the New Testament,
is really exciting.
Talks about the resurrection,
but it also has other implications.
But when you go back to the story with Cain and Abel,
when he says, you say, what was the problem?
It says,
Abel was given him the firstborn of his flock,
because he was more of a shepherd.
Right.
Well, there's a firstborn narrative in the Bible also.
Right.
about having power when you were the first born.
And so what was the problem here?
Well, Cain, it didn't say he was given the first fruit.
It just said he was giving him some of his crops, not the first fruits.
Because that first fruits would become a theme, and I looked it up.
I can share that where it is, but it's three different times in the Old Testament,
in the law about the power of the first fruits.
Because you're saying,
we trust you so much that we're going to give where this came from, which I just read in Isaiah 40,
God is causing these things to grow on the planet, not us.
It's not photosynthesis or science.
Everybody's different and how they experience.
Sometimes people are unplanned in terms of being a mom or a dad,
and then they have to decide how they're going to deal with that.
For many expecting parents, a positive pregnancy test brings as many questions as it does
excitement. Pre-born, one of our long-term sponsors, supports uncertain mothers and fathers by offering
compassion, practical resources, and free ultrasounds. All of us in the Robertson family are committed to
the pre-born movement and the pro-life movement because we all have experienced that. We all understand
how important it is to bring a child into this world and to build a generational future.
And so we want you to help pre-born do a lot more. That's why your support of pre-born matters.
so much. For just $28, pre-born can provide one free ultrasound and help equip a new generation of
parents to choose life and build strong families. To donate, dial pound 250 and say baby. That's pound
250 baby. Or you can visit preborn.com slash unashamed. That's preborn.com slash unashamed. If you're a
business owner, you might want to consider a larger donation to claim as a write-off, a donation of 1,000,
$10,000. $15,000 was sponsored an ultrasound machine for a needy clinic,
helping to save countless babies' lives for years to come.
All gifts are tax deductible and will reach eternity.
Get involved today.
Literally, he is the gift of life in every capacity.
But just think how hard that is to do.
If you trust God, we're going to give you the first fruits,
because we know you're going to keep producing for it.
because we're putting all our trust in you.
And so that was the problem.
That's why even though it doesn't seem that bad,
I mean, Kane was giving him some of his crops.
But Ables was better because he was showing that trust factor.
I'm giving you the firstborn because I know my trust is in you
and you're going to take care of me.
So then the little conversation happens.
And when God says that, which I think people who think that God makes us all robots,
and there's just a few, you know, set beforehand that's going to make it,
and none of this really matters.
And they have trouble with why would God say,
all you got to do is do us right.
Yeah.
And I'll lift you up.
He gives them the opportunity to do the right thing.
Yeah.
But that word right, when you look it up, think about it.
It wasn't that he was necessarily.
doing something that wrong. He was given, but he wasn't giving that first fruit, which was a sign
that he was not trusting God. It's the beatitude, Jay, is all over again. It was the thought,
it was what was going on behind the action. Exactly. Which is the relationship we have. The
sermon on the mount can be depicted by that. So when people say, you know, and these arguments
that I say that I'm having all the time.
They're not arguments.
They're just like, you know, a guy's living in sin.
I mean, I had this conversation not very long ago.
And he came to me.
And it's like, and we're playing golf.
You know, it wasn't about golf.
I was wondering why he wanted to play golf.
But he's like, well, you know, I messed up, done all these things.
So I'm like, well, you know, I immediately went to,
how's your relationship with God?
What, how's this working?
Well, I noticed in the conversation,
there was a detachment between what he believed.
He's like, oh, well, I believe in God.
Yeah, that's fine.
I was like, but your lifestyle is the exact opposite of anything godly.
And he's like, well, yeah.
I said, no, there's no, well, yeah, that connection.
I mean, I'm not saying this to be funny.
It was so shocking to me that I finally just had to say it.
I said, you've detached God from your life.
That's a dangerous place to be.
You think you believe the right things about God,
but it has nothing to do with your life because you're not even responding properly.
Because in fact, during the course of the conversation about this sinful life,
I noticed that most of the reasoning was not his fault in his mind.
Yeah.
Like, well, it wasn't, you know, it was somebody else's fault.
I'm like, well, who was there?
Who did these acts?
He's like, well, that was me.
But I'm just telling you why.
I was like, oh, I know why.
And I'm saying this and sharing this because I thought,
this guy's, he's got a delusion here.
There's a delusion and there's a detachment of God being real.
He's thinking what's right and wrong,
but it's not in the context of you're not acting right
in your relationship with God.
That's why it's wrong.
It's not just because you did something wrong.
this is this is not right with him which is kind of the concept of the first fruit if you kept the first
fruit for yourself even if you give some later to god or or even for good then the idea is why
would you give yourself the first fruit is it's kind of like the illustration you used on the
hillsdale podcast about when you were talking about my weight loss journey remember the illustration
you were talking about the idea that you detach yourself from what you know is not good for you
and you just keep doing it
and you keep having the same results
but like in your mind
you've found a way to just deceive yourself
and it's a mis it's a yeah it's a like a disordered love
at the end of the day so think about like
what that ultimately ends up being is
like idolatry is just really worship of yourself
yeah because you think well
when you think of the word idle I'm always thinking
I don't know I think like a little wooden statue on a mantle
somewhere and then I guess I think a Buddha
or whatever people go in, they worship this idol.
And you're like, but you clearly carve that with your own hand.
There's no, there's no like magic power in that.
And I think that's, we tend to think of that as unsophisticated or when we think about idols of old.
But the truth is, is if you think about what the nature of an idol is, is you just worship something that you can control, which means you're actually, you're in control.
So you're worshiping yourself.
because if I worship something that I made,
then obviously I'm worshipping myself
because I'm the one who make,
whatever the thing is,
the one who made,
it's greater than the thing that was made.
And so you end up worshipping yourself.
And I think that's what was happening in the Garden of Eden.
I think that's what's happened in every sin
is we try to put ourselves at like that,
we deceive ourselves,
and also in cooperation with the devil,
into participating in an unreality.
And that unreality is us pretending,
that we're God.
And I saw this when Jill and I went to Italy.
And it's interesting.
You know that, well, you've been to the Sistine Chapel because we were together.
I don't know, Jason, if you've ever been to Rome.
But you know the painting in there that Michelangelo painted?
Yep.
The creation of Adam that's got the two fingers and they're like almost touching.
The finger of God, the finger of Adam.
And the idea is that God is the one who initiates the creation.
What we saw, this is so ironic because this was in a,
Cece, where you have the heart of the Franciscan movement of the Catholic Church, all these
cathedrals, and at the very top of the city, there's a fort, like the original fort.
And Jill and I went in there, and they have an art display, which is a take off of Michael
Angelo's creation of Adam.
But when you go through the whole experience, when you get to the end, there's basically
this box, like a clear box, and it's got like mirrors in it.
And so there's one picture of a finger, like that, that same image that you see in the Sistine Chapel.
And then it's a reflection that you see the other thing.
It's a reflection of itself touching itself.
And I was looking at that and I was like, how crazy is it that what you have in the center of the Catholic Church in the Sistine Chapel is this beautiful creation by Michelangelo that gives us a proper anthropology, which is that there's a God, as you said, Jase, what was the rest of it?
and I ain't him.
There's a God, and I'm not him.
I'm the hand that's being touched.
I'm the creation.
He's the creator.
And then you fast forward several thousand years,
and now you're in another heart of this empire,
and you almost see, in my opinion,
of a humanistic mockery of Michelangelo's work now,
where, well, no, there's no God.
It's just, God's just a reflection of me.
He's just a reflection of myself.
And maybe I interpreted the work,
wrong, but I think that I'm interpreting it correctly. I think you see that same type of interpretation
and what we're doing with going back to the AI conversation. We're just looking for a reflection of
ourselves. I'm just looking for an echo chamber so that what I want to be true is true, and I can be my
own God. But when you do that, you are participating in an unreality, which is what creates
the rub. That's what creates the friction. That's what creates the anxiety and the despair. The answer is
to repent, come underneath the Lordship of Jesus Christ and recognize that he's the creator,
and we are the creation. Yeah, and I love that that conversation that Jason was mentioned from
Genesis 4, that God gives Kane a chance to do the right thing. I mean, to not do what his
heart is pulling him to do, because he says sin is crouching at your door. It desires to have you.
But what was his motivation? What do you think? I think his motivation was that God's not,
not going to provide for me.
Yeah.
I need to be my own God and I got to shore this up.
So yeah, I'll give a sacrifice.
But I'm not giving you the best because I might run out.
And you see that pattern play out through all of Israel.
Yeah.
Horting up the manna.
You know, I mean, like, it's always like a thing like, okay, I'm going to give you
something that look like, I give the, I'm going to signal that I got the virtue.
But at the end of the day, I got to make sure that I'm going to be protected.
So I'm going to provide it for it.
So I'm going to take that on myself.
And he does, so he winds up, not listening, obviously.
and then he commits the first recorded murder in human history and unleashes that.
And right up to the story, the grotesque story you told earlier.
I mean, when you see that, you see you're capable of anything.
And that's what God is telling him, look, it's, I mean, what you're about to unleash,
you're just upset because he's doing the right thing and you're not.
And right now you're just mad about it.
Exactly.
But what's about to happen is you're about to unleash something that then,
will never, you can't put that back in the bottle. And that's what people do to this day.
Al, have you noticed the price of everything over the last, probably what, since 2020?
Oh, no doubt about it. Of course, you know, you always think about gas and things like that,
but just even grocery store and meats and, you know, I got a lot of miles to feed,
Zach, so it's definitely higher. That's what you call inflation. And if you've built a retirement
portfolio, you think, well, what is going to protect what I've saved in my retirement
portfolio from getting eaten away by inflation? And one of the ways that people,
have historically looked at this as they've added things like precious metals, gold and silver,
to their portfolio. And that's where Freedom Gold USA comes in, because for generations, people have
looked at physical gold and silver as a way to help preserve their value. So Freedom Gold USA,
what it does is they help people understand how physical precious metals might fit into your
long-term retirement strategy. Their motto is super simple. Get more metal for your money. So you get
competitive pricing, no gimmicks and specialists to actually focus on education.
not pressure. So right now they're offering a free 2026 gold and silver guide and a no obligation

savings. That's why sin, we tend to just look at it as a breaking of a moral code. And in that context,
you really see the true definition of the Hebrew word for sin,
where the missing the mark or going down the wrong road.
Once you get detached from the father in that relationship
and imaging God and his character,
the possibilities are endless on how bad things can get for you.
That's right.
Because you're kind of justifying it with right things.
that's what people don't think about Kane.
They're like, oh, what a terrible person.
It wasn't like he wasn't given anything.
He was given enough to say, well, there you go.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Right.
But God knew his heart and was like, no, this one's better because they're fully reliant on me by giving the first fruit.
I just think it's cool how you see these kind of theme lines from Genesis all the way through.
because I wanted to read this one in Romans 8
because Zach brought up that spirit
which is so true about, you know,
what's the difference in the divine intelligence
and artificial intelligence?
The spirit of God.
That's it. Come on.
That's it.
And I'm going to prove it to you.
D.I.
In Romans 8, which the whole thing,
you know, read the whole thing,
it's just awesome.
I have on record that's saying
that's the best chapter in the Bible.
It's definitely top three.
There's no doubt about that.
And he starts off saying there's no condemnation
for those who are in Christ Jesus.
But he gets to verse 9,
and it's like,
you are not controlled by the sinful nature,
but by the spirit,
which gets into that about where your bull's eye is
with your relationship,
when it comes to righteousness and faithfulness,
if the spirit of God lives in you,
what's a really big if?
And it should be noticeable if that's happening.
Verse 10, if Christ is in you,
your body is dead because we do live in a world of death.
But your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
Now think, every time you see that word righteousness,
just think, am I right with God and in my relationships?
That is true righteousness at its purest form.
If the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, verse 11,
He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your immortal body.
So there you go.
Don't fret about your dying body.
So then when he gets to verse 13, if you live according to the sinful flesh, you will die.
But if by the spirit you'll put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
Because those who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God.
So now we're getting truly in the true relationship of that.
For you do not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear.
but you are you receive the spirit of sonship
and by him we cry
Abba father he put it in two different languages for you
which is kind of a point there
whatever language you're in
it's about your relationship with God
the spirit testifies with our spirit that we are God's
children so then when he read all that
to get to where he says first fruits which is in
verse 23
not only so, and he's talking about the earth being liberated from its bondage to decay.
So think about the freedom we have here.
Not only so, but we ourselves who have the first fruits of the spirit grown inwardly
as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
Just think that's so cool how he then takes that metaphor of the first fruits,
that was used as what we give to show our trust in God.
That's where it's coming from.
And then he's like, you're my first fruits to the world of having the Spirit of God.
If you don't think that doesn't give you purpose and make sense of what we're doing here,
that's why I said you can't have a conversation with somebody living in sin,
and he's like, well, I believe in God.
It's like, there's a detachment here.
Yeah.
Where are the fruits?
Where are the spirit?
What's happening in your life?
This is not the way you're designed to be.
And I think you're going to see James make the same exact point when he gets to the faith without deeds is dead.
Well, and he says the same thing, Joe.
I hadn't thought about it, do you put it that way, in Ephesians 1?
Paul says essentially the same thing when he says, having believed you were.
were marked in him with a seal, the promise Holy Spirit, who is a deposit. A deposit is a first
fruit. It's a, here's a little bit because you got more coming. That's when you make a deposit
on something, right? Who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance to the redemption of those
who have God's possession. Same languaging about waiting for the resurrection. And we are his
first fruit. And the spirit does guarantee that for us, which is why Jesus consistently told
the disciples in John 14 through 16, that it's going to be better for you once you have this
because then you're going to understand. Then you're going to know. You're going to know what
you're supposed to do because at this point, they're listening to Jesus for three years. They're
like, we got no idea what you're even talking about. But when the Holy Spirit comes, it's like,
oh, it's on. It's on like donkey. So the same thing happens with Peter Jay's in relationship to
James's letter, which is why I know we talked about Isaiah 40 in the past podcast, because
Peter makes the exact same quote in 1-24.
All men are like grass.
They're glorious light, the flowers of the field.
The grass withers.
The flowers fell, but the word of the Lord stands forever.
And he makes the same quote, just like James does,
talking about the possibility of holiness.
I want to say this, because I was looking here when I was looking this up,
about first fruits and the history of it.
So, because there's also a wisdom element to this about being wise.
Remember how he starts off, and James is all about wisdom.
Listen to this verse, Proverbs 3.9, honor the Lord with your wealth.
Because we know that's a temptation all over the book.
Yeah.
If you get that out of whack on where this is coming from.
Honor the Lord with your wealth, Proverbs 39, with the first fruits of all your crops.
So there's your wisdom verse in the book of wisdom.
Yeah.
Because Proverbs 8 is like it even mirrors wisdom as the first born, which goes back to
that even able given the firstborn, well, Jesus would become the firstborn overall creation,
the firstborn from among the dead. He's not talking about, because this is a major debate
throughout hundreds of years. People are like, oh, Jesus was born. Well, he was born from a woman,
but he was the first born in status to God with the rights. He's the ultimate human, is basically
what the point is. I've been studying that, which is fascinating.
But these other two times first fruits, even in the law, Leviticus 2310, Israel celebrated the
feast of first fruits to physically give God the first crops of the barley harvest.
Exodus 2319, they gave the best portions, bring the best of the first fruits of the soul to the
house of the Lord your God.
So I was just wanted to throw those in there.
That was the history.
then you see how that mirrors us having the spirit.
And then Paul famously in 1st Corinthians 15,
talking about the resurrection,
will be the first fruits from the dead.
Yeah.
Which is why you think about,
when we think about the crucifixion of Christ,
I would argue you don't just look at it as Christ die.
I heard a pastor say this recently.
He didn't just die instead of us.
He died ahead of us.
And so that's the thing.
He's the first one going,
through this new way of life, which is life.
So he's going ahead of us.
So then we think, what is my vocation?
What am I supposed to do?
Well, you do what he did.
You do exactly what he did.
Well, exactly.
Well, it's like I heard this, I'll give you another quote,
because we're made in the image of God.
Jesus is the image of God,
which makes it different when he's talking about he is the firstborn.
Right.
He is God in human form.
Right.
You say, well, what's the difference?
Oh, it's a lot.
Yeah.
Because he's God or we're not, which is kind of in the theme of this podcast.
All right, we're out of time.
We'll pick it up here next time, Unashamed.
