I am unashamed. What about you? Welcome back to Unashamed. Jace, we're in the, I call it the high season. We hit the fall. It just seems like that's when everybody wants to do an event, pull something together. Kids are back in town. They're back in school. And so, I mean, it is, it is for me, and I don't know what your schedule looks like,

but it's like multiple events, multiple weeks. I mean, I can't even look ahead in my calendar. But it's all good because, you know, we get to go and share Jesus with people, which is like the ultimate. Well, what I find fascinating and encouraging, there's some people you meet. Some of them secretly, some of them in public at events I've done,

where it's like we're on the same page. We're trying to get Jesus out to the world. I mean, I look back on my life. life as a teenager. You know, I'm reading my Bible as a new Christian at 14, going to a public school where I knew one person who loved Jesus and was unashamed about it, which was a girl who was, we had an awkward relationship. I've talked about her before.

Her name's Angel, and she tragically died in a car accident just a few years later. Yeah. And, you know, I'm reading my Bible thinking, I'm not going to be able to do this quietly. And it wasn't that this is what I was going to do, but like being a preacher, I'd eventually go to Bible school with you. There was just something about reading who Jesus is in the book of John, because that's where I hung out more than any other place. And to clarify that, Jason, you and I both. Of course, I was married and had kids. You hadn't got married yet.

But we really didn't go to school to learn. I talk about Jesus. We were already doing that. We went to school just to learn the Bible better. I mean, we were young, and somebody offered to support us while we did it. And so we thought, ah, a couple of years of Bible study, it would be good. Honestly, I thought I don't have enough discipline to do this. And, of course, I had no idea what I was getting into.

Because it was hard. I mean, it was a lot of work, and it kind of had a... It was five days a week, all day, every day. But did you learn anything? That's the question. It would learn a lot. As frustrated as I got during that process, the first verse I memorized was out of Jeremiah. 20 verse 9.

Yeah, because Jeremiah, well, you read his story. He just didn't seem to have any response. You tell about a tough luck preacher's that. Ridiculed and persecuted, and he comes up with this famous... Every sermon was a... suitcase sermon for him. Exactly. And he penned these words via the Holy Spirit. You know, if I say I'm not going to mention him. I think it's in, what, chapter 20 verse 9. If I say I'm not going to mention him or speak any more in his name, he said there's a fire down deep. In my bones. I can't put

it out. I can't. And I'm weary of holding it in. Indeed, I cannot. You know, and that's the first first verse I read. I thought, okay. Yeah. Because that's kind of how I felt. I felt. I felt like at my school, all my buddies, because I was hanging around the hunters and the fishermen, because that's what we did. And they thought I was cool because, you know, we're making duck calls and trying to make videos and they thought that was cool. But the more I read, you know, I just thought, I need to, because I was thinking, I like these guys.

They're my friends. And they have no clue on what life is all about. And so that process for about two years, you know, I finally have my company. out party when I started confronting them, which is really where my unashamed journey began. What's so interesting about that is I thought, y'all was nervous about what they were going to say. What if they have questions? And I just didn't realize the power of the gospel when it's spoken to people. I mean, it scared them. It literally scared them. Where they attacked me, kind of like Jeremiah, they immediately went on the defamation.

offensive and like started making fun of me and it ruined our our friendships actually now haven't said all that they all came back at some point in my life but at that moment i thought well this is going to be a lonely life that's that's what i thought i think that's why he related so much to jeremiah because it was like i get it i mean i lost all my friends it's because i declared the gospel i did and uh there is There is a moment, though. I mean, I can attest to exactly what you're saying. For me, I came to Camp Chioca, which because of Al, because of you, Al, we sat on the beach that day.

I told that story in here before, and I'm like, man, I don't got anybody in my school. I didn't know anybody that was living for Jesus. I mean, that just wasn't even a thing. It's actually trying to think back to that time period. It was funny because I was raising the Christian home. My parents were solid, but actually like a life in Christ, I, I, I didn't have an imagination for that because I just didn't have anyone my own age, nobody, that I were like, yeah, this person is filled with the spirit living for Christ. And I just didn't know what that was.

I go to camp and for the first time I got around peers my age, and I was like, okay, I'm going to go back. And I really, I caught fire for the Lord. I wanted to live for him. I was like, okay, I can see this now for the very first time. I go back to school. And I mean, yeah, everybody kind of laughed at me. I remember, like, you know, I was like, I'm not, you know, they were making fun of me for, you know, committing the sexual celibacy.

It was a whole thing, right? You're like, I'm waiting to get married. And I remember, and then quickly that faded. And I kind of slipped back into like my old life because I didn't have the confidence in it. Now, fast forward into college about my sophomore year, something clicked my sophomore year, and I really understood that the gospel has power. Once you realize that, Jayce, it's like that the gospel, I'm not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God.

When you understand the power behind the gospel of Christ, something flipped in me, and I have been on a progressive journey since my sophomore year of college of essentially, I mean, I don't like go into any situation right now. Like, oh, I'm afraid that this Jesus thing might come up. I go in thinking, how I cannot wait for, like, just give me the sliver to bring Jesus into the conversation because I do believe I've experienced it. I know it, that there is power in the name of Jesus. I mean, I've always said, I firmly believe because we're made in the image of God,

every person on planet Earth that's ever been born, including all the ones that are here now, by 8 billion people, there's a homeland beacon inside of each one of us that longs for the one that made us. And the question is- Yeah, that's exactly right. And so the question is, can I find my way back? And so we're all just guides to show them, oh yeah, you can do it. You can, because everybody finds some off-ramp typically that they go on.

A few people come up in faith and stay the course, and God bless them for that. But most people somewhere take an off ramp and then have to find their way back. Yeah, something happens like when you're, I don't know if it happens with age, I guess happens to the age and you live long enough to kind of see these cycles play out. But like I remember looking at particular people who kind of had this nonchalant attitude. You know, we talked about it, that John Cooper podcast kind of like, you know, it was more like, I don't care, nothing matters. And I remember thinking these guys, man, that dude is confident.

Yeah, like that guy. And I was attracted to how just, like, confident they seemed to be, and I believed it for a long time. And then you live long enough to see those very confident 19-year-olds that you thought were so cool in high school. You see them begin to fall. Kind of what you were talking about, Jay, they all they kind of get to the end of that thing. And then if you live long enough, you start to see that it wasn't real. and those revelations of fake confidence, like now I see it, and I know exactly what that, what that is. And I think that's where kind of the power comes in.

Like I know, there's no doubt in my mind. Like I get up some young guy or anybody, and there's just super confident in whatever their thing is, even the older gentleman that's filthy rich, I remember I got in the conversation several years ago, the guy was in the 70s and had made a lot of money. And I mean a lot, like yachts, planes, the whole nine yards. And we were sitting, how, you were there. We were at an event in Georgia. And I remember asking him, I said, hey, have you made a lot of money?

I'll call him John. That wasn't his name. I said, John, have you made a lot of money or what? And he said, oh, I've made a lot of money. I said, I mean, you've done this crazy what you've done. He said, oh, it's just, yeah, I said, you pretty much buy whatever you want. Oh, yeah, whatever I want. And I said, do you ever wonder, like, what is it all?

for. And he stopped me. He said, oh, yeah. He said, that's where I give to St. Jude. He starts naming on things he gives things. And he just stopped himself. I never forget it. He said, that's not a good answer. He said, no, I don't know what it. I don't know what it's for. And it was like this moment of just like that sat in that around that campfire that I was like, this guy's done it all, but he still got to the end of it. And it's like that Psalm 127, unless the Lord builds the house, the laborer labors in vain. Like, It is. It's all in vain. And at some point in your life, you understand the real power has got to come back to what Christ did. And once you kind of grab hold of that,

then I think it enables us to take the gospel in a way that is more than just giving people information. We're not just given information. We're coming as the Apostle Paul's. And that we talked about Jason. We talked about Jay's and I going to school. That was the one thing that helped me the most. I already had a commitment to Christ and to the gospel. but when I was in school, what it did was it tied together the ancient nature of what you just described, from the Old Testament all the way of the new,

that it's always been that way. You look back and you read Solomon's writings and you see a guy that prayed for wisdom and got it and understood so much and did so much and then still dove into the world, wound up with the worldly wisdom ruling his life, and then he writes ecclesia. That's easy, he's like, you know,

what you just describes that. I mean, that could have, Solomon could have had the same conversation that we had that night with that man. So I said all that to say, you know, in my mind, I go back to those moments. And I remember them laughing at me for basically two years for the rest of my high school. Yeah. They made fun of me. And it's why I keep bringing up this story in Matthew 9. I guess because we're in that section of James where he's, he's, he's, he's,

kind of taking these people who are rich and have worldly success and he's like you need to weep and well and i keep bringing up this story in matthew nine about you know jesus coming up there saying this girl is just asleep and not dead 12 year old girl and they laughed at him and it's no different from my buddies when i first shared jesus they it's scared them at first and then they laughed. They're like, you think you're going to be raised from the day? I mean, they just thought, that's the most ridiculous thing. Never heard.

But, you know, that followed the sermon on the mount when part of that new way of living, when he said, blessed are you in verse, where's that 11? Even you fast forward to him hanging on the cross, remember he said they came by and they hurled insults at him. Even in that moment where he was literally giving his life for them and everybody else, they still were hurling the insult. So fast forward just this week a couple days ago, there was a woman.

I'll be careful because I don't want to get her in trouble. But she's like, if you do things at a public school before school starts, you can have guests and influencers and all this. And so she reached out to my people and wanted me to do a video just for the football team, but it's a junior high. school and your son-in-law my right-hand man jay he used to coach out there and uh so when my assistant sent that request i said well i'll do better than that find a way where i can give a speech and i'll come out there and so uh this is a couple months ago we're lining this up sure enough two two mornings

ago i was there at i don't i think it was 6.45 a.m. so i was thinking how many people could there possibly be. And nobody knew I was coming, except this one person who had invited me. What's fascinating about this, when I pulled up in the parking lot, there's a woman who works here, who's literally about 30 yards from us right now, who works at Duck Commander, because one of her sons plays on the football team, you know, and well, she saw me. And so, but it's as soon as I pull up, I get out, and the woman who invited me. me, who what I mean is has this secret heart for getting Jesus in people.

I know that's why she invited me. She knew what I was going to say. She didn't say, what are you going to say? It's like, yeah, we'll talk about football, how to motivate being a team. But I didn't have to say what I was going to speak about. But so as soon as I opened the door, she's like, no one knows you're here. And then all of a sudden we hear this kind of a scream. And I look, and here comes an employee from Duck Commander running up a hill.

Look, just excited. And she's like, I'm so glad you're here. She put two and two together without even knowing. And, of course, the woman's like, shh, nobody knows he's here. And she's like, well, I know what's fixed to happen. And I love it because my son is fixing to hear this. I said, well, you don't even know what I'm going to say. She's like, I know what you're going to say.

And so I go to this little room, locker room. You know, they got the little football team there. This is junior high. And I actually have my Bible. I have my duck calls. And I had the jersey of the guy who's the starting right tackle for the San Francisco 49ers. That was my three props. Because I thought, here's some kids playing football.

He was on our podcast last year. We had him on the podcast, told his story. I shared Jesus with him. You know, he was at a point in his life, making millions of dollars playing for this. San Francisco 49ers, and he felt just like my buddies with no purpose and no plan. Who am I working for? And to go back to the story I was talking about in Matthew 9, because three times I brought that story up, and I didn't say this.

I should have said this. Because even though they're laughing, what they failed to realize, what the guy playing for the 49ers, when Jesus is in the room, he wouldn't have been. to this room and he's like she's not dead she's just asleep things change your perspective changes if this is real your whole perspective on everything about life from death to the decisions you make it all changes and that's what you're offering to people and it's appealing because they they may be delusional in thinking you know what they're doing in their life but deep down we're all scared to die we all got things we've done we know we shouldn't have and we're wondering whether there's a god and

am I here. And so we go into that room, make the illustration, but, you know, five minutes into it, a rat comes out. I start seeing people jumping out. A little rat comes through the room, and it was a huge distraction. I forgot what I said, but I'm like, this is spiritual warfare. There's going to be distractions, but that's a creature God made, and I'm going to put it in perspective. Yeah, you had all the things that make it uncomfortable that happen. But I just used it as a prop and we went on. And I could tell it just, you know, a hush came over this group. But here we are gathered, not thinking this, we're going to have a moment here of a life decision. And I like the fact that it was that age group, sixth-eighth grade, because I thought, man, that's when I first started.

That's kind of when you figured out. Yeah, I was 14 and I thought, you're at the age. I was you, but my whole point for saying this is that's why I was there. Doing it for free. You know, I didn't charge a dime. I just thought I was sitting there and I had missed the meaning of life and how I got here. And it was a, you know, 15 minute speech. And then they're playing football. And I'm like, here's a guy who, and I went through the percentages of the odds of you making it to the NFL is nine out of 10,000 who plays.

football, high school football. You're not even there yet. And here's a guy who had all that, and he's still not realizing why he's here, who he's working for, what he's doing. And so, introduce Jesus. There's something about that that is so powerful

and so meaningful to me. I just feel like I can't help it. I'm just trying to, and we're sharing this, to get more people to realize you don't have to be a preacher to do that. I'm not a preacher. I'm not, yeah, I study the Bible. I'm just, sharing introducing Jesus.

But what stood out to those kids, Jay, is because they're hearing about Jesus in a setting they wouldn't normally. And so that stands out in their minds. In other words, a lot of those kids probably go to church tomorrow on Sunday, and it's great, and they hear about Jesus there, but they're conditioned to hear about it there. So a lot of times it just flows right off. But all of a sudden, they show up at school one day, and in a place where normally they're preparing for school, going to play football, and then all of a sudden Jesus walks in

the door, literally, because you're speaking about him. It's a setting. It's an opportunity. It's a moment. And look, we get those moments all of us all the time if we take advantage of the opportunity. You know where I started? That's how Jesus did it. I mean, think about the center was the temple.

But man, he and he spent a lot of time in the temple. But the ministry, most of his ministry was outside of the space that was supposed to be. The gatherings. And here's why I think that is. I actually think this is why that is. because throughout the whole scripture, I mean, the whole garden story is the physical, it was the physical spiritual combined heaven and earth together.

So the ministry of Jesus and the ministry of the gospel is not, let's take you, let's bring you into the church, let's bring you into the sacred space that you can hear by God. No, it's actually the opposite. It's to take the sacred out into the entire world. And I think that's why people are way more receptive in like the marketplace, for example, if Jesus is with you, because they, they don't see it coming. They don't have a guard out.

It's not like coming into church. People go to church and they're like, ooh, you know what I mean? That's right. The wall goes on. I'll illustrate this. So I walk in, stand up. It's an awkward setting. We're in a gym room.

It smells like sweat. There's a rat running by. No, there was another level. And Zach can relate to the, it smells like middle school sweat. That's another kind of story. So look, they have no idea that these kids, most of them I feel like Miss Duck Dynasty, you know. Yeah. So they weren't even born, I guess, when the show was there.

So I said, what's the greatest comeback ever? And it was just silence. So I said it again. I said, what is the greatest comeback ever? So one of the kids raised his hand. I didn't think somebody would say anything. but he and he I forgot who he said

the bills versus somewhat you know somebody the oilers and the bills and he went through that and I said noble effort anybody else somebody came up with two other NFL teams

and went into detail about it so I thought well these boys love football and they're knowledgeable of it I said another noble effort I said for the sake of time we're not going to go through any more of those

I said the greatest come back ever was a man was on this earth and people viewed him as the son of God. He referred to himself as the son of man. I said, we count time by him two thousand years ago, roughly. I said, he went on a cross and died at the head of the Romans who were known for putting people to death. And three days later, he came back from the death. And I just waited on purpose. I said, Now that's a comeback. That's good. That's where I started.

And so tomorrow night, I'm speaking at another similar thing, not with this age group, local thing, which I consider. Is it a FCA deal? That was an FCA deal. This thing tomorrow night is in El Dorada. And, you know, I was, they, there was a guy. He's like, I mean, what's going on in El Dorada? Right? And he's like, let's do something for Jesus.

Which ironically, ironically, Jase, is about 10 miles north of the bar you and I grew up out. That's going to be my opening line. The juke joint. The juke joint. Which my mom would do those acrostics, and she would always tell you about a juke joint in El Dorado, Arkansas. I think she got that from your dad's place.

Yeah. And so they're like, well, what's he charged? And I'm like, tell them to whatever the Lord leads them, because I thought, this is my, my reason. And so they came over the price, which is way lower than what I actually charged, which was fine. But a couple months in the prep, where this thing has evolved. And they're like, we think there's going to be over a thousand men show up. It's a men's event.

And I thought, I literally looked up the population of El Dorado because I thought, I didn't know there was that many people there. It's actually a population of 17, 18,000. I was thinking about 50,000. But I thought, wow. Well, then they wanted to do a meet and greet, you know. And it started morphing, and I'm like, no, wait a minute here. And so I told my assistant.

You're a Hebrew in Egypt now. Well, I told them. I was like, you know what? Because they're all excited about hunting season coming up. It's going to be a men's event and football season. And I thought they're making me bigger than what they should. I was like, you tell them, there's going to be no meet and greet. I'm going to introduce Jesus because I want them to meet him.

and greet him. There'll be a meet and greet, but you guys, exactly. I said, I'm on an eye bringing with me when you meet him.

Because they got, I hurt their feelings. Yeah. Because they're like, they wanted to do a meet and greet. I was like, I don't have time to meet and greet a thousand men. This is,

this is way beyond. And I tell them, we're going to meet and greet Jesus. They want to meet and greet me. I'll see them in the afterlife. And we'll have a meet and greet there. That'll be incentive to have the meeting and greet with Jesus. It's such a fail-arrivers of things.

Well, that's what I did. They got over it, and I'm going to show up and get them to meet and greet Jesus. That's what I'm going to do. I'm excited about. Jesus is meeting and greet. So I said all that, and the whole point of this conversation is we have a fellow coming on that I met because one of our mutual friends, we're, you know, we're LSU fans.

And something I was going to do involving an LSU game or something. Which is not a sin. I don't want to clarify. That's not a sin. It's not a sin. It's a sin to be a Florida fan, but... Good job. It's not funny.

I don't want to say that. Our mutual friend said, he said, there's a guy I met down there who is so passionate about sharing Jesus. And he said, he's actually in a wheelchair. And he said, you need to meet this guy, which led to me meeting him. And what's weird is, I never knew that. And I knew you knew him somehow, but I didn't know how. I met him when dad and I were in Dallas at speaking at a church over there. And I was so impressed with him because of the same thing.

And we met him. And so he and I kind of became palsy. I didn't know you even knew him. Yeah. Very well. So I'm setting this up because he has cerebral palsy. He's in a wheelchair. He has a speech impediment.

So we're going to ask for your patience on that. This guy is on fire for the Lord and has been. Everything we've been talking about, this is his life. He's written a book about it. And there's just something about having to undergo this much earthly misery and pain and suffering and to see a guy on fire for the Lord. And we just thought that this would inspire you to hear his take. And I love the guy.

I am very thankful to be here. It's like a reunion. Yeah, it is. What's so crazy is Gary Glenn Osborne, which I think he's been on the podcast. I've been on several times, yeah. He was, he basically, his family lived right next door to us for people who don't. He and Jeff were best friends growing up. That's how we first met him.

They were. And they were kind of partners in crime. Yeah, yeah. And he was a partner in crime with Zach during the prodigal days when he's at. He was, we were a wild bunch of kids. Gary was the less rebellious. He was rebellious, but he was a calculated rebellious, you know. He wasn't quite as reckless as being Jepp.

I would say that's a good line for Gary Glenn-Eysville. He's calculus. But he, I forgot all the details you may remember, but I was going somewhere, I think, where you were going to church or whatever. And he said, you need to meet Todd Lawler. The way he said it, he said, the most evangelistic person I've ever met besides you. He was telling me that. Yeah. Was Todd Lawler.

And when he told me your story, I was like, well, wait a minute. He's got cerebral palsy. He has problems expressing himself. And then it hit me in that moment. I thought, yep, this is how God works. And he said he met you because you had a ministry at LSU. And you were sharing Jesus with him. That's how he met you down there.

Yeah. He was, they named me campus. Eventually they're there because so many students were coming to Christ and noticed that Gary was so close to

Lord and he surprised with everyone that he knew and he would always talk about these guys by Bucco who he hunts ducks with

who they love the Lord and it it was well before your show

and it it was cool that you and your dad had such a living

legacy city and he says Todd you shake eyes

like my friend Phil Robert said, and the more he told me about Phil, I'm like, you know what? I'm learning a lot about the Lord, about showing Jesus to feel, and I've never even met him. Yeah. Yeah.

So that's crazy to me how, I mean, the longer I live in Christ, the less I believe in chance encounters. Yes. God brings us together. And he brought you and Gary Glenn, who were. having the same heart for sharing Jesus, and he brought you together, which led us to meeting you. And just so you know, Todd,

that those early days when you knew Gary and he's young, he's a college student, is now 20-plus years later, he's an elder now at our church. Wow. He and Erica, I would call them, and another new elder, Colin and Christy

that came in the same time, is our most active, engaged, you know, shepherds that we have. They're also the young. So, you know, they get all the jobs. But amazing man of God, a teacher now, wisdom, leading other people. So, I mean, you know, to see what God can do over the course of people's lives is what's amazing.

It's not just the introduction. That's part of your job and ours to introduce people to Christ. But then when you get to watch the growth and you get to see them impact, and now they're shaping and disciplining people to go and to reach and exactly what we're doing. So that's the beauty. Really, that's the heart of the book, right? Is the idea, it's not just about now. It's about engaging people to do this in a multiplied way.

Amen. It boost me away that the Lord put in the Bible a book from one person first and second to me. And then that shows you and me how much God values one-on-one evangelism and one-on-one discipleship.

And in second Timothy, too, Paul says, and the things that I have entrusted into you, you entrust into faithful, teachable men

who will do the same thing. So we see this multiple spiritual generations in one verse which is exactly what Gary's life shows. Yeah, exactly. Which is beautiful.

So we met, and I've always been impressed with you, and I want to ask you a question because I know a lot of people think, especially people in the world, they're like, how does a man who seemingly has a lot of reasons to doubt God? I mean, your life has been a struggle with a lot of suffering. And, you know, you wrote your last book, I think it was your last book. What was the name of that? Week is the New Strong. Yeah, Weak is the New Strong, and I had the privilege of writing the forward in your book.

And you read the book in the Duckline. I did. I read the book in three hours. I'm like, wow. He's a fast reader. Yeah, he does that love. I read it, and I read it in the duck blind, and I actually wrote the forward in the duck blind,

and I was privileged to do that, but I wanted just to ask for the viewers who may not be familiar with you. So how does this happen? When did your journey with Jesus begin, and tell us that story for the people who may not know you? I'd like to share about, I came back to Lord, oh, you.

Okay. I was a student. Oh, you, yes. And I was a cultural Christian. I was doing life God's way. And my way, which is not God's way at all. Yeah, exactly. And I was just empty.

And the Lord met me in my dorm room over you. And he should show me because of two, which is amazing, beautiful picture of the gospel. And it says, in Christ, he's been made complete. Oh, man, that's beautiful. And then I got involved in campus ministry. I was this typeboard.

I started to make the disciples. And then I realized, you know, I did not grow up in Sunday schools. I want to do this for my life. But I want to get a master's in Bibles. But my real real thing, Real seminary was in St. Louis, an internship. Have you ever heard of Stanley?

Stanley was the greatest evangelist I've ever met. He was so inspiring. He did when he spoke somewhere. He spoke everywhere. all the day was share stories about sharing Jesus. And that summer, I really had to face my identity in Christ as a man with cerebral policies. Yeah.

And I would never forget. One morning a quiet time in a coffee shop I read about Paul

in his story in the flesh. Paul said, but he said to me which I felt well, the Lord is speaking to me

right now. And the words popped out of the page, it says, my grace is sufficient for you or my emergency favor is all you need. For my power is made perfect

or some say this play, my power is displayed. Do your weakness for when you're weak you're strong and the Holy Spirit he's giving watchmen with tears I got tears of joy in that company shop

I just screamed out loud Thank you Lord Thank you for your power That is not only flowing Through my cerebral palsy But through every weakness That every human

deals with Ever since the modern life It's not despite of my weaknesses but because of God's amazing power through my weaknesses. So I can see where the person

next door, the table next door said, I'll have what he's having. That's how it begins to go. All right, so we've got a guest, another guest that just arrived. We have a surprise for you. We got to have a surprise for you. What? You're on.

It's so good to see you, brother. I brought a tear to me. Oh, me too. That's so good. We've added yet another guess. We had an upgrade, Gary. We dropped Zach and we added you, which is much better. Sometimes you get lucky, you know.

That moment was awesome because I didn't realize y'all had seen each other in 20 years. And that was, it almost brought a tear to my time. It did bring a tear to my time. I'm still like praising the Lord. There are words of love. live Gary that you

spoke into me that really carried me I mean just the way that you encourage me

of how I love to share Christ really put a fire underneath me so thank you

oh man and I'll tell you like being down at LSU at that time me and Todd got to be buddies and I was a student

but me and me and him were about the same age because I was in law school or whatever. But I just remember, I was like, okay, who's this guy? And you know, you get to know. And I had never been around someone with cerebral policy. But real quick, I just saw what a magnet you were for Jesus. Like people, like something about you, they were just drawn to you. And you did not shrink back at all.

And I just remember being so impressed because I think, you were down there maybe a year, year and a half we overlapped. And that I told these guys, because, like, y'all's dad just shared the gospel with more people than I'd ever been around. And I just came back and told him, I think I've met somebody that just fills match and share of Jesus. Well, it was incredible when I met you. And when I met you, you even, you know, you'll tell jokes about your speech problem. And that shocked me, first of all. Yeah, what was your joke? We didn't do it earlier.

Well, wait, I don't know if you're not this, but everywhere I go, like, right now, I bring my speech therapist with me, and she's pretty famous, not as famous as famous as you, but she's pretty famous. Her name is Siri. And in my Maps app, if I don't enunciate, I will end up in the wrong state.

That's good. But the fact that you do that and your heart comes out, it just comes out. And I think that's why you are effective. That's why people listen to what you have to say. And look, as much as you may struggle speaking,

you are the fastest typer of anybody I've ever met. Because if I get in a text message with you, you bring so much that I can't even keep up. And I think that's why you write books. And the Lord uses you in that area, you know, to get what's out from your heart, which ultimately is your love for Jesus. So thank you, brother, for that, you know? We live in a paralyzed culture. and I really believe where it comes to understanding our mission that the Lord has us on,

that we as the Lord's people, we sometimes have a disability that's worse, that's more immobilized than my cerebral policy has ever been. And my heart, and fucking speak to each person who listens to

this podcast or every wish I made. I tell them, hey, you have the most impacting ministry. I know because God has put you in four spheres

of influence that you are in right now that no one us can reach your family, your friends, your coworkers, and strangers that the Holy Spirit helps you meet. Yeah. And you talk about that in the book. That jumped out at me when you said it's a paralyzed culture that's much more paralyzed

than I am because I know who Jesus is, you know, and that's the part that makes us whole, right, and the consistency of that. I thought that was really, really good. You kind of broke it down into, just for the audience to know. So he calls it the crux of the matter, which you talk about there. That's the problem, right, where we are. But then this idea of meet, mobilize, and multiply, which any preacher loves good at what a race.

You totally got it with me on that one. So I love that about the idea that it's missional and that it is lifestyle, which is very powerful. I started to establish a ministry in the DFW, and the Lord kept bringing me of Christians who wanted to be decided and wanted to live on mission right where they live, work, and play. And so I'm like, Lord, how do I help them share the gospel of Jesus? And he led me to Luke 8-1, Luke 9-1, and Luke 10-1.

I want to show that with you. And Luke, one, there's a beautiful, simple picture of Jesus being with the disciples. It says that Jesus was going around proclaiming the kingdom of God and the 12 were with. him. I think that we

give over that too fast, but yeah. We're with him and we say meet

right. We meet someone for coffee and we invest in our lives. The Lord

wants us individually to pursue people in our lives to intentionally meet with them. Yeah.

And if you turn to Luke 9-1, there's this really cool impacting picture of Jesus bringing in the

disciples and he gave them power and authority and he sends them out. So there's this mobilization he mobilized them and what was the

result of that? Let's look at 10.1 and 10.1 And he sits out by 72. So they mortimer. Right. So meet,

mobilize, more fire. That is something that each this type of we can run or roll. Roll with that. And I can speak to that. I remember.

So I think you have a, everyone has a tendency of getting their life so busy and so crowded that they don't have time to speak to people. I remember you, walking on campus with you, was both inspiring but also annoying at times because when you're walking through LSU campus with Todd Lawler, you better not have a hard time you have to be somewhere. If you're going to class, you're in trouble. And I'm not even talking because he's in wheelchair.

I'm talking every human being that comes by. Todd's like, hey, how's it going? He's making some comment trying to, like a fish and bait, to lure them in to have a Jesus conversation. And I just remember multiple times walking on LSU campus with you and at the same time being like, okay, we have to be somewhere. But, oh my goodness, we're talking to this person that five minutes ago,

we had no opportunity to talk to about Jesus. and they're hungry for it. So, like, that's one thing I learned from you is just like, man, just if you're intentional, if you just say something, there are so many, the fields are white, the workers are few. If you'll just put the bait out there,

there are people that are hungry for Jesus. Amen, amen, brother. My mentor, Stanley Schiff would say, put a good word in for Jesus. Yeah. I mean, that's true. If you drop Jesus in any conversation, you will see if that person is hungry or not. I heard that Stanley had an impact on feel.

For sure. And I love it that you're in your four categories of people that we interact with every day. That fourth one is so important because there could be Holy Spirit appointments. that are waiting on you if you make the most of every opportunity, that God has prompted someone's heart for that one word. It just opens a door. It could be the thing that changes their eternal existence. And did.

I'm telling you at LSU, I saw lots of students that because of those little comments, because you were willing to just be intentional and put a good word in for Jesus, that lives were changed. And I still see them on Facebook to this day. like they're still following Jesus. I mean, I think that you just use a very key word there. That's intentional. I mean, just to wake up in the morning and go,

Jesus, you are on your throne and thinking for how you're going intentionally put people in my path. Like last night, I stayed at a nearby hotel. and a young man who worked there was wearing the place that you wrote the gospel. Oh, really? He was wearing a book. And so I started asking him about it. I'm not surprised you asked him about that.

And for y'all listening, it's the, you know, the arrow. We probably have that somewhere around here. It's on the set somewhere. Yeah. where is that manny but the arrow coming down the cross the tomb the arrow coming up and the arrow coming down which is a great conversation our mentor our mentor bill smith is the one that came up with that yeah he was our mentor and the guy that dead led dad to christ yeah that's the guy that came up and he just did it as a visual way to you know show the gospel you know and so that's where it came

from them. But now it's everywhere. Like because of the Settlbary Recovery, I think mostly in Mac and what they're doing, it just has exploded and it just shows up everywhere. And like you said, I mean, this guy may not even know us. I don't know. You know, you meet him at the thing, but he's wearing it. Yeah, you just

hit on what I want to drive home. There it is. There it is, right here. They send it as a paperweight, but it does so much more than just hold down your papers. It's a conversation starter. This should the gospel with me.

So God, that arrow coming down, I usually say you may not have realized this, but God came to earth. And people who have never heard this, they're like, he did? Yeah, his name was Jesus. We actually count time by him. They're like, we do?

Yeah. It's been roughly 2,000 years since he was here. He died on a cross for the sins of the world, and that includes you, whoever you're speaking, to. They put him in a tomb thinking that's over. Yeah, there's the tomb. But three days later, he came back from the dead. And guess what? That arrow coming down means he's coming back. And then I usually say, are you ready for that to happen?

That's a strong question. Well, I get that from... Is this going to happen? I get that from 1ststst-odians 5-4 because it says this day, him coming back, should not surprise you. So it's a really good faith test for people, even in the moment. Because people will ask me, I'll be in an airport. They're like, what does that mean if I have the gospel symbols on my hat or my shirt? And I'll say that. I'll say, would that surprise you? And they always stop and think, I can tell the hesitation means, yeah, I'd be surprised.

So if it's surprised you, it means you're not ready. You need to read the book of John and get to know Jesus. You know how you want that reunion to be, just like when Gary walked in this room, and you guys greeted. That's the way we want it to be. It's a love of waiting and anticipating, but also we want everybody to be ready for the month. Someone motivates all of us, right?

We want people to be ready for that day. One impactful thing about this gospel illustration is I write in my book about the obstacles that Satan. puts up that are not real that he keeps Christians from sharing Jesus

and one major one that I hear all the time that really says me is I do not know enough Bible

and I'm like hey tell me what did Jesus do for you and they tell me I'm like hey They're

that's enough. I love how the blind man who got here was. All I know is I was blind and now I see. And he's the one that made it happen. Well, Todd, tell us, so where can we get, where's your, like, information to your website?
