You see, the difference between empathy and judgment lies in our understanding of where you came from. It's not about what's wrong with you. It's always about what happened to you. And in the noise of the world these days, we have become radically disconnected, in my opinion, from the stories we all carry. Those we love and care for, for sure, and often even our own. The consequence, I gotta tell you, it's a mental health crisis like we've never seen. Now the most powerful tool to combat loneliness and recultivate an empathy for each other lies, I think, in the creation of a safe and even a sacred place where we show people how to get back to the best parts of each other. That's really where this podcast was born. And the Everyone Comes From Somewhere podcast, you'll find two kinds of episodes. First, guest episodes, as many as I can get.

And these are people whose stories have seriously changed the way I think about the world. And so I wanted this community to know about them too. And I hope their vulnerability will evoke empathy in all of us. You may find pieces of yourself reflected or learn things about another that brings light to your own story. And then in all the other episodes in between, it'll just be me and you. And we will explore some of the many reasons, I think, that keeps us from knowing much about each other these days. And every episode, I'll leave you with a few insights to help you see and feel seen. No doubt, there'll be tears and I hope a lot of laughs. But what I hope more than anything is that we will dig deep into relationships and talk

often about the things that matter the most. Each other.
