Starting point is 00:00:00 So Nate's kid hit like accept on the tablet or something. So yeah, I must have posted the link. And then he like he hit the notification and joined it. And I'm just like, oh, hey, Nate, join. Hey, buddy, how's your recovery going? Blah, blah, blah. And then I just hear Niko. Did you join the zoom call?
Starting point is 00:00:15 He had no clue. And you sent everything into a spiral. He made Jake the host and. Well, I got a spiral. He made Jake the host and... Well, I got a promotion. And welcome back to episode 121 of the Unpaid and Underrated Podcast, a podcast by crew, for crew, and as always, relentlessly mocked by crew. Thanks guys really appreciate it I'm one of your hosts big Keith joined as always here by big Joey Hello, hello and special guests this week big big Jake big Jakey. What do you what do you want to go by buddy?
Starting point is 00:00:55 Jake's fine big Jake. Okay, good deal. We got big Jake here. So big Jake you drinking anything good over there this week Yeah, of course. I'm spotting the Sporting the new drink spotter chill here, and I I don't know that I could pull it out But I went to flavor town with mr.. Guy Fieri with a little mango spicy Action I'm not usually a mango guy, but I'm making it work. It's actually pretty good I've yet to see they've they've talked about those Does that was him it's like a is it his brand or something. He's sponsored by it's waterloo. Yeah, it's Yeah, I don't think I'm sorry, so I am drinking a waterloo currently, but it's I don't think it's a guy for your waterloo
Starting point is 00:01:34 It doesn't have a good. It doesn't have a goatee or anything. Yeah, that's the subpar Waterloo, buddy That's pretty good grape. Can't really beat a grape Waterloo. It's pretty sure you can and it's with this thing So Morgan bought a case of these I wanted to get my drink in because I don't normally have anything fancy and this is first and foremost spelled wrong It's all right. Yeah, it says litchi Which is not how you spell litchi? And it is a soda natural, or a soda, is that the French version?
Starting point is 00:02:07 Like what the fuck? Oh no, there's the proper one. Yeah, so it is spelled lychee. I just had the can backwards, because that's what I do. Sparkling soda. And I thought, hey, I'm going to try this for the first time on the podcast,
Starting point is 00:02:19 because she loves them. This sucks. This is awful. This is 36 grams of sugar first and foremost. So no wonder she likes it. And it has a lot of sugar. It does not have great flavors. It does not. It says naturally flavored and I wish they would have been unnatural because then maybe this would be good. I'm still going to drink it though in my of course drink spotter chill. Oh yeah. And can we just take a second to point out this is the
Starting point is 00:02:51 best thing they honestly. I gotta go on now. I like I got it and I was like okay I have every drink spotter so I might as well get this one with my home gym nerd shirt and like I said I'm with Matt now, where he just liked that video where he went through all of his other koozies in the garbage. Cause now I'm just like, why would I ever use anything else? This is the most convenient and comfortable thing ever.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Are the, is a strip of magnets like not annoying? Like I'd be like, No, there's only two magnets. Okay. And they don't interfere with the can. Okay. Or you're having, I guess, I mean, I guess, yeah. It's a grip. At no point, at no point am interfere with the can okay, or you're having I guess I mean I guess yeah You know at no point at no point am I holding more than like you know two-thirds of the can
Starting point is 00:03:31 Your finger goes in there, and it works as a finger rest for comfort. You're a finger rest Um you face I think we need to go But I think the highlight when you take away from this is I'm not big You know speller or big reading comprehension over here But how did you fuck up can the can were you were you looking at the reverse image in your laptop? Is that how you thought it was spelled wrong? No in Canada. We have French and English on everything So I was reading the French and being like how'd they screw this up? And then I was just looking at the French side word. Okay, that makes sense
Starting point is 00:04:05 I was like, I'm so I was like is he now hold on do not gloss over that that was absolutely stupid of Like I really should have known better Before I went in hard on how did they screw this up? Very committed you're committed that like you had the anonymity can What's the how do you say that word anomaly yeah, I'm trying to do it all I can think about is the ab crunches The ab rollouts have been doing lately so those are my brain Yeah, they were brutal big Jakey what shirt you rocking there, but oh I've got the the cream and crimson and cream I guess mass and all that Jim T.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Comfort color yeah yeah you know I found that the fit of the comfort color is kind of. Dicey some fit great summer kind of boxy and loose this one seems to fit. Great summer kind of boxy and loose this one seems to fit just right nice I don't think they're all this is a trick to it's like like they're not all like I don't know like the brick is definitely different from like the gym shirts and stuff So everything is just a little the deadlifter to me as it is like a heavier cotton and it feels completely different They all are the same blank and they fit fine, but you know they're not It's the shirt of the summer Yeah, because it's summer good and summer. Nice. Nice. Well done.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Well done. I'm just wearing the old Pink Floyd shirt tonight. I got my strength code. Don't buy our cat's shirt. I gotta get that one at some point. I just really should. I've been missing the okay podcast. Oh, Grant's out on the boat there. Well, Grant's a buddy that is. It's been a couple weeks now and I didn't realize how much I enjoyed listening to them do that stupid fucking roll call where they just have this running military joke about how all meetings are a waste of time basically and they basically have a waste of time meeting
Starting point is 00:06:02 for 10 to 15 minutes mocking those meetings. It's's the dumbest thing ever but I laugh every time so I guess I'm you really did enjoy Yeah, you know, it's the friends you long away. Everyone know it's the what's the phrase? It's uh, it's the friends you long the way Yeah, yeah, it's the friend you know You don't know these are the good times until the good times are gone or whatever, right? Isn't that the phrase doesn't that uh, one of the guys on the office said something to that extent? hehehe yep for being a short week it's been a long week
Starting point is 00:06:32 I was off monday and I'm still like I don't know I can't tell if it's Tuesday or Friday already I'm just blah or blah blah blah that is oh yeah you know what will wake you up though is I got some new obsidian salts my god Oh, yeah, you know what to wake you up though is I got some new obsidian salts My god, I don't use code. I'm paid. I hope Stephanie did I really do it was a birthday present So I don't know they showed up but man like you open them up and
Starting point is 00:06:56 There's no sticking them in your nose like the ones I have like two Fairly cashed bottles that'll still hit if you're like right up in your nose and to me they'll hit just enough but it's like I don't think they were ever as strong as I don't I really don't know which one I have but it was it's horrendous it's it's basically it's it's fairly it's it's non scented I think I think it's just their take on kick-ass ammonia like just unscented ammonia Jesus so I think and that's not even the nosebleed you just those are just like those are the mid-tier That's not even the top here. Yeah, I know Cuz Chris was over and I was like here hit these and I even warned him
Starting point is 00:07:33 I wasn't even trying to be a dick I was like like open it up like down by your breast and just like let it waft into you cuz like don't put it And he did that and even that like had him screaming and I was like yeah, man And then says knee fuck and he got all up in it And I don't know how he didn't shit his pants because I was like I could see it I think he's used to heavier salts and doesn't like just really often and hard But you could even see his face like they they they hit him good and like they got me I'm convinced that these videos where people pop the cap and hold it right up to their nose
Starting point is 00:08:04 I'm convinced those are fake. Because like, yeah, I do it without the act. I mean, they just haven't had an activator. They didn't activate it yet. You know, like big Grayson. This sucked. It doesn't work. This was the first one that it wasn't just add water.
Starting point is 00:08:18 I actually had to add the other pouch and like shake it. And the fucker got like hot. That's the point. I was like, oh, wow. OK. I was like, I was afraid because the first time you open it up because I didn't I felt like if I just left it There it might have exploded. So I was like, let me just crack the lid to break the pressure even doing that I just like fucking like half half the gym was just just yeah, I was brutal. It was brutal
Starting point is 00:08:40 Speaking of new stuff. I don't know if I mentioned I did get Jen's stickers Right, I believe yeah, she wrote a lovely Letter Kenny style letter to me and then today big Jake's came in I'll get those from him big. Thanks to everybody that's willing to ship these up to Canada now one of the cool things is Jake's has been sending the the letters on prescription pads a fake ones obviously yeah But what was really nice is?
Starting point is 00:09:16 Thea actually also Signed it his daughter. Oh, that's cool And if you guys remember at lift hard the busy last year her and I got along swimmingly Yeah, right so she wanted to make sure she sent a high so I want to say hi back to you and thank you for the lovely note Nice proud dad moment there just Told Morgan about it and she was like that's why the Dilfe dungeon Because you're building strong dads and I was like, oh, thank you, honey Anyway, there's my sappy moment for the day. No, no, you're good. Um a little spotlight on this weekend lots of crew meetups
Starting point is 00:10:00 The Tyler did a grip to comp with one of the other guys I for some reason like when I first saw that picture of Tyler I thought it was with Gary and then like I was convinced it was Gary and I I was like, one of them traveled, and then later on I saw the picture again, I was like, that's not Gary. And I was just like, why did I think that was Gary? So I just caught myself going, why the hell did I think that was Gary? And I was just like, you let yourself believe something and then it becomes real until you realize it's not. Aren't we all Gary?
Starting point is 00:10:18 Yeah, I don't like enough people's posts to be Gary. That dude on the ball, he's the most supportive crew we got for sure. The California crew had a big meetup. Was there six of them there, five of them? So they had a blast. They did a big run through of the strong man and powerlifting meet and everyone,
Starting point is 00:10:35 I think everyone there was competing, which was kind of cool too. It wasn't just like, let's just get all the locals. It's like, well, let's get five locals that are also all traveling to Aberdeen in a month. So that's pretty cool. Um, and by local I think they all live within like a three hour radius, which is local adjacent. Um, What you got buddy the drinks water chill
Starting point is 00:10:56 Attaches to my light No, probably. Oh, I was gonna say no I thought you were gonna say your mic but you you have a you have a just a you don't have a mic boom Like I do you just have a platform on kind of that's not there. No not to the mic But yeah to the ring light I have it sticks to that this thing is the best So I had my awesome birthday lift party it was a blast lots of people showed up everyone had a good time We had like seven crew there. I think, between me and Stephanie and everybody else. Six crew, whatever it was. It was great. Met Big Derek from out in Massachusetts.
Starting point is 00:11:31 The dude drove like- Six hours. Six hours. But like it's six hours, it was like no stops and stuff, I think. And I think he even took a nap on the way here and he didn't get home. So I think his goal was to leave at like five or six. I think he left at like 745. Because we had like a two and a half hour lift thing and then we went out to dinner for like three hours because my God, the waitress. I felt bad because it's like, it's hard to make dinner plans because I'm like, I don't know, man, 10 people are coming, 20 people are coming, 15 people are coming.
Starting point is 00:12:01 I'm not making dinner reservations in advance. Like we literally like, so Chris Mark's job when he comes to these, when we have a big thing, is like, hey Chris, set up a dinner reservation for us buddy, there's 12 of us. And there's a couple of restaurants within like a mile because it was just easy to just walk to them. I was at more like a half mile honestly.
Starting point is 00:12:20 And you know, it's 5.30 on a Saturday, you're not gonna have a whole lot of options. So I kinda, I cater towards the place I know isn't as popular or busy, and you know, just 5.30 on a Saturday, you're not gonna have a whole lot of options. So I kinda, I cater towards the place I know isn't as popular or busy, cause we can get a big table and it won't be an issue. So I think we had a 14 top and I did feel bad cause she didn't have any help and it was just us
Starting point is 00:12:36 and everyone wanted split checks. She had like eight checks. I felt so bad, but my God, it was the longest wait to, I think one of my buddies, literally after we were sitting there for a while, I was like, I hope we can get out of here soon. I have plans tomorrow because it had been that long, but just a good, great day overall.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Oh, but back to Derek. So Derek left at like, I don't know, call it seven-ish. He essentially got home at like 6.45 because he just started to drive and then got tired and just took a nap, woke up, drove a couple more hours, took a nap, drove a couple more hours, took a nap. Poor guy. Like I think I, I don't know, must have a comfortable car to sleep in because I would
Starting point is 00:13:15 have been like, get me a, find me a $70 a night Airbnb. He's gonna let me crash for five hours and then I'm just gonna get up and hit it again. But yeah, kudos to him for coming out. I I think he's he's coming out to lift hard live easy he's not competing but he's gonna you know I think he's helping he's that are spotting and loading for strong managers supporting in general I think he said his sister is gonna come out so they hopefully they can split the drive because it's got to be like a 25-hour drive for him which is just wild but you you know you and Steve did something very close to that. So you're familiar.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Other notable things, I think Dan posted in the Discord, but his missed deadlift at like 680 or something or whatever it was, like damn near had it locked out too. His strap started to fall down. So like, and when he was probably like three quarters of the way locked up with it, so he tried to like kind of like lap it, like if you were gonna like search it or like, he kind of like, you know, sat down like this.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Yeah, he was basically like sitting because his goal was to like get it to that position when I was like his quads and then like redo his straps and then stand back up with it. Like we're doing a really aggressive strongman hitch and he got to that point and he just fell over. He just fell on his ass with like, you know, 680 in his hands and And I don't, my
Starting point is 00:14:25 deadlift platform is right up against the concrete wall. So like, yeah, he's lucky he didn't fucking concuss the shit of himself. Like I was worried. I was very much like, what the fuck? It's like, why just don't hurt yourself. Stop. So it did make me, um, and I think Matt had, Matt and Jess both had mentioned it to that my deadlift platform was a little slippery cause you know, it's like it's polyurethane It's it's nice cabinet grade plywood. It's got like 20 layers of stain and polyurethane So yeah, but I have sprayed like really like tacky adhesive like there's like a clear Adhesive you can spray on wood and it just wears out. So I guess I need to get more of that but uh in general
Starting point is 00:15:03 Yeah, great time. Thanks for everyone to coming out and it Stephanie literally came through clutch with getting to literally hired a professional photographer to come and get gym pictures and then stay for about half the lift party and get a bunch of action shots and stuff with us and there was just a blast I you know couldn't have been happier those pictures were sick they look Yeah, they were really cool. I do appreciate that. And then like the shit, like the guy was like, I'm not gonna charge anything.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I was like, come on, man. Like, but the good thing is I had his Venmo from a previous interaction. So he was like, yeah, don't pay me. I don't know. Like, he gets home and then, you know, he gets money thrown at him anyway. But it was just like, like, I'm not going to not pay you. Like you literally invested like four hours of your time probably between getting there, staying for a couple hours, getting back home, and then I'd imagine at least an hour or two
Starting point is 00:15:51 sitting in front of the computer going through the pictures. So if not more, so, you know, dope dude. Really appreciate that. Good work, Keith. You're a good dude. I don't care what all the crew say about you. And then I guess the funny thing about, I swear to God I don't know if Nate made it or you made it but that picture with Nate's face on my body is Fucking Tyler like at a glance like in like three people said that too like I said it in our group chat
Starting point is 00:16:23 Ryan DM to me and saying it, and then I posted that as a story. And then Tommy responded to the story saying, I thought the same thing too. And I think there was a couple other ways too. But it was just like, when you zoom in, it's not. But at a distance, because I don't know, it was just, it was hysterical. I laughed so hard when I was like, that is Tyler.
Starting point is 00:16:46 As, as soon as I realized, as soon as you said, I can't look at my phone, I went into Keith here, by the way, mode, and I took over the Instagram for like an hour and that's what, that's what led to all of that. Right? Like I was messaging Nate. Cause so you, I had seen the picture that you had posted of you sitting there smiling with your hands on your knees. And I went, I'm going to recreate that in my gym and not to make fun of you or anything, but like just because I think that would be really funny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:21 So then somebody had like tagged us and was like, Oh, can you make this like this step brother? Yeah, I saw this thing. Yeah. But I was like, don't like I'm literally putting on the shirt to go and do this as you're saying this. So I had to like rush into the gym to recreate it. And then I was like, Nate, do you have the shirt? Can you make yourself one? And no, he made that one of his head? Like I do have one look and I was like I'm not putting that in with our picture, but that's really good It was funny in the Shit, I just had a train of thought and lost it Oh, I honestly think like the best gift Tanner gave me was when I finally posted that link Tanner rolled to scroll through, snatched that picture and literally had it on the website under the home gym nerd t-shirt as like the fourth image.
Starting point is 00:18:10 And I was like, dude, that's so dope. Like that is so cool to be featured there. And it's like, he didn't say anything. He literally like, he did it. And then he sent me to the link with just like the bulging eyes and they just like didn't say anything at all and like never, like didn't have no more follow-up and I was just like dude thank you that was awesome so uh I just I thought that was really cool because like you know I feel like I put a lot of
Starting point is 00:18:32 I put a lot into this community to be here I look a lot into the home gym community that's like that shirt is the epitome of like what I do for Mastanomics and what I get from Mastanomics and what I do for the home gym community what I get back from it so I just felt that was kind of like the perfect like you know know, reward. You just fall down. Oh, absolutely. Just fell directly into my wardrobe behind me. Scared that she'd shoot that at me. One day you'll get a real chair.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I can't fit a real chair in here. You gotta get a collapsible one. You gotta get a bigger office. Yeah. We keep looking at ours like, how can I rearrange this to make it quieter when I'm recording and then like, I don't know. I don't think putting the acoustic tiles on a wall is going to do a ton. All right. Um, did you put lift hard, lift easy mystery event or is that a carryover from last week?
Starting point is 00:19:15 I don't know. No, I did put that in. Um, we still don't know. Jake, are you, are you competing in the lift hard, the easy? No, no, I'm not making it up there. No, how long until it like two weeks three weeks It's a month right now. It's a month. It's 30 days 31 or 30. I think yesterday was 31 It's the 19th. We're recording on the 19th and it is July 19th So call it a month because I don't know if that how many 30 ish days is that gonna be but it's a month
Starting point is 00:19:42 I just thought it would be worth noting that. I know what the mystery carry is. You're annoying. And I have been more into secrecy other than telling you, I know what the mystery carry is. It's annoying, too, because it's not just like one. It's like a four. I think the I think Iron Podium isn't even clear.
Starting point is 00:20:04 It says three or four implements kind of thing it's big David said it's Joey for 50 feet like I think that I think it that might be because I think the hot the max weight for our class was 175 so it's you know if he yeah maybe that's close enough but either way just want to let you guys know I know what it is I don't believe you're credible. I don't believe you Okay Just like I didn't know who sent you those rogue attachments
Starting point is 00:20:38 What rogue attachments yeah, yeah, yeah, but anyway just wanted to just wanted to put that out there to annoy everybody That is cool. That is cool That is that's a little jelly I've just been training like sandbags like I've carried the who's felt a few times I've carried sandbags like I haven't even like I thought about doing my farmers But like if you read the vague description I don't think it's gonna be farmers and talking to the other guys in my class in our group chat like we don't think it's Gonna be farmers So like I'm gonna be pissed if it is because I haven't trained them at all and I've been talking to the other guys in my class in our group chat like we don't think It's gonna be farmers
Starting point is 00:21:05 so like I'm gonna be pissed if it is because I haven't trained them at all and I fucking have them and like I haven't touched them in like three months, but uh Ideally, it's just pick something up and run with it and I've been practicing that so it's just a matter of What what that something is and uh, I don't know. Yeah, I haven't changed my facial expression since We get nothing out of me. Nice try, Diddy. You're good. OK, now.
Starting point is 00:21:31 I am getting a little, I'm starting to hone in on the, yeah, being a month out, it's basically, I have like three training weeks left, because I ain't doing shit for the deload week. I'll train Sunday, but then I'm not doing anything from Monday through Friday. I'm competing on Saturday. And if through Friday, you know and compete on Saturday If I do anything, it's gonna just be like light light light light stuff. Nothing of consequence So yeah, I have like one two three four six like nine training sessions left basically
Starting point is 00:21:54 So time to start stacking that hey, it's lightweight, baby That fucking sandbag that I threw over the bar yesterday was pretty goddamn lightweight I don't know if I was just having a good day or the rogue bag just feels a lot different from the Cerberus, but like that bitch was light for being like, I had never got that heavy a bag that high. So I was, I was pretty stoked, but it was also the first day I had been like had been crippling back pain going into a session too. So like that helped being like only, oh my God, speaking of pain, she seemed, did you
Starting point is 00:22:24 see that fucking bar bouncing on my shin cuz like yeah god damn I still have a knot on my shin Like it's like an eighth of the size as it was But at dinner like I had multiple times Stephanie was like wanted me to go to the emergency room like while we were at dinner because it was like a Tangerine on my shin and I'm like this isn't getting any smaller And it was it wasn't until the next morning that it was like somewhat, like it was still bad,
Starting point is 00:22:48 but it wasn't what it was. She was like afraid I was gonna, cause I have like some blood clotting issues in like my family history. So she's like, that's like, be careful. Like, like we, like she like, like felt it multiple times throughout the night, just make sure it wasn't getting hot or anything, or I wasn't having any like blood clot symptoms,
Starting point is 00:23:02 but it hurt to the point that like, I might like just build blocks at this point and say fuck it to those contraptions that I bought. Yeah those things suck every time I see you use them I'm just like those things suck. Yeah. Well they're awesome for loading plates but like unless you're really really really really really control the eccentric it's gonna fucking bounce one way or another and when it bounces into you it's a lot worse when it bounces away from you Yeah Honestly, that's just why I use my pads for my blocks cuz like yeah
Starting point is 00:23:31 It's not the same. I know but it's the safest option. I have yeah for sure Did you immediately think your lift hard lift easy? Was done no as a hit Well, I've hit myself before doing those, but it wasn't until after I realized how bad. And I was pissed too, because I was already doing a YOLO lift, because I think I had to do, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:23:54 I was like, let's call it 385 for sets of three or four as a 90% of my comp weight or something like that. So I already did that, and I was like, that was really light, let's go up to comp weight. Or maybe, no, I did comp weight, so it was like 405. It I already did that and I was like that was really light like let's go up to like comp weight or maybe I think I'm you know I did comp weight so it's like 405 it's still not that hard for like being an elevated deadlift and I wanted to do an AMRAP and like fucking get like seven or eight just to like do it in my birthday so I broke my fucking shit on the first one and I was like well that's I'm just gonna get a couple more and then it got to the point where I was like all right I'm slowing down I'm hurting like think the pain, I think it almost took two reps for the pain to catch up.
Starting point is 00:24:26 Like I felt the initial pain, but like, I don't know, man, cause I definitely had. I could have done so many more reps of that. Uh, not so many. I could have done a few more reps fairly easily, but God, my fucking leg hurt. It was bad. It was. Yeah. That was ugly.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Yeah. But yeah. So speaking of something that was ugly. Yeah, but yeah, hmm So speaking of something that's not ugly old Mastronomics podcast anybody get chance to listen at that this week. I did twice Twice I am Wow. No, my stupid podcast thing did that thing where it made it reset I don't need to couldn't figure out kind of yeah Well, I had to like I started fast-forwarding as I screw it cuz actually Despite not knowing who that guy is, I really liked him.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Like he said a lot of the same things I think about sometimes. So I actually ended up really liking him so I didn watch him a little bit he was never anybody that i followed all that closely but i recognize them and. I genuinely enjoy when it's just the two hosts chopping it up but it was nice to get it mixed up with the guest in there it's been a while so it was cool is a good guess. If you had to give it a rating out of five, what do you think that'd be? And you know, of what? Well, like I said, I enjoy them chopping it up. I really did enjoy the ending. Tommy's frustration with the door to door salesman. I did find it very confusing and hilarious that the guy was like,
Starting point is 00:26:03 can I come back at five? And he was like, yeah sure come on back I just thought that's the perfect out so Yeah, but all things considered I am gonna go ahead and give it five out of five door-to-door salesman Nice nice nice Yeah, I agree. It was the first guest episode. We've had in a long time I agree. It was the first guest episode we've had in a long time. I
Starting point is 00:26:31 Wasn't overly familiar with Bromley. I did end up getting into a lot of his videos just on my actually I think I watched a lot of his videos Monday cuz I was just kind of on a YouTube rabbit hole and I don't know Some of them are okay. Like I don't I don't know if I don't know if I like him or not It's kind of is still like some of his stuff was entertaining But I think it's more the stuff I liked was just like the strong man specific stuff But when he wasn't talking about strong man, I was like, I don't care what he's talking about But as far as just being an interview guest, you know You know, hopefully it helps them out and get some more eyes on him because he looks to have a lot of followers So ideally that was worth it. But yeah, you really do
Starting point is 00:26:58 realize like man I could listen to them talk for two hours about nothing and like not have this guest talk about something for 45 minutes and kind of ruined them the Whole middle of the episode but it didn't ruin it I'm just saying like you realize it's like wow They really have done about six months with like two guests and I haven't missed like I've enjoyed it as much Probably significantly more than we have when they were doing guest But yeah Tommy losing his train of thought at one point and then kind of like getting annoyed about it that literally made me think of me because like I thought the same thing.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah, I was just like I actually said like what do you keep. Yeah. So yeah, the door to our solicitors you hit that one on the head. We get those a lot here, not necessarily for fucking bugs, but for everything else. And then, you know, they had mentioned the whippin' the shitties there at the end too. So, and how they kind of like, we had this conversation 10 years ago when we introduced like everyone on the East Coast to whippin' shitties. So yeah, for all those reasons, I'll go ahead and give it a five out of five whipps shitties. Like I said, definitely like Bromley. That was, like I said, he seems to think a lot of the same ways I think, obviously just
Starting point is 00:28:07 with more background and more knowledge and better positioned. And yeah, I don't have door-to-door salesmen. You have your fucking boonies, aren't you? And you're on a 55 mile an hour road that no one's going to stop and go into your dead end, your hard driveway, from whatever you're telling me. I actually think they're illegal. I think you have to have a permit up here to do door-to-door sales, or solicit, as we call it up here.
Starting point is 00:28:37 And I'll tell you, when I do get them, they are mainly religious. Yeah, I get those. Yeah, I just tell them to talk to my dad dad because he's just happy to talk to anybody. He'll talk to you off for hours. And I'm just like, no, I'm out of here. Yeah, it's always one of those ones where it's like if somebody knocks on the door, you got to make sure it's not me because I'll just what do you want? Why are you here? Get off my lawn. Like, yeah, I'm not I'm not a very friendly person.
Starting point is 00:29:09 She's I wish I could like take notes while I drive because I always have like thoughts and I'm like Yeah, I definitely want to talk about I don't talk about that and then I get on here and I don't remember any of it So I'm gonna give that five out of five shitty monster truck shows Yeah, Bigfoot verse gravedigger, yeah I think I about those. Nice. Yeah. Bigfoot versus Gravedigger. That was a good one. That was a good one. I think I'd, I mean, Bigfoot was bigger when I, I mean, I think Bigfoot just for in the nostalgia, because like that was like all as a kid you knew about, I think. And then I don't know if Gravedigger came along after it was, Gravedigger was cooler, but like, I also hardly knew, like, I think you
Starting point is 00:29:40 just saw him in like commercials and maybe like a random TV show or something every now and then. Like, I think I saw him in person when I was like 20. And I was like, I'm too old for this. Like, this is not cool as like a couple of 20 year olds. Cause I think my mom works at a radio station and I got free tickets. And I was just like my buddies and I actually drove from like, we drove like two hours to go see them just cause it was free. And I was like, I don't know. It was okay, I guess,
Starting point is 00:30:02 but I'm never going to go pay or do anything to look at monster trucks again for sure. I'm gonna end up at one, I know because my brother goes and my kid, like Oren, he's really into them, so I get the feeling I'm gonna end up at one of these things. And I don't have any desire. Like it just sounds like it's overwhelmingly loud and the shitty animatronic dinosaur that eats the cars like I, I don't have any interest in that. And it might just be me. I'm just not that type of person. Just it, I feel like I would be wearing my head, like my noise canceling headphones the whole time. Probably listening to massonomics. Um, yeah. So definitely not going to be telling any monster truck rally soon. Was big foot a thing in Canada?
Starting point is 00:30:46 I feel like you guys, okay, so you guys are masters, I'm masters. I think that you might be seeing the divide. They liked they were Gravedigger people and I'm more Bigfoot, but that's when I was a kid. So now is he up there? Yeah, absolutely. Wasn't Gravedigger the Undertaker's truck? No, and then I think so.
Starting point is 00:31:10 And then I think the licensing was withdrawn. And he just kept the Grave Digger logo or something, because I know there was I know there was WWE trucks back then. And I swear the Undertaker had one. And part of me thinks like there was a time where the Undertaker and the Gravedigger truck were like intertwined at some point. That's all I- Makes sense.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Yeah, it does. Maybe that's, or maybe that's a thing I made up in my head and one of the Davids is gonna make fun of me for it. Should we get an ad read going? I'd love to hear one. Well, I've got one right here. Let's do it. All right. Do you go to war with the bar? Pick fights with strangers on home gym forums?
Starting point is 00:31:54 Think weightlifting content could use a little more politics? We'll take a deep breath. Relax. Go to massonomics.com and grab yourself a drink, spot, or chill. The official reminder to calm down and stop yucking people's yum on the internet. While you're there, toss a supporting membership in your cart and unlock access to the Mastinomics Discord. A sacred place where the lifters are strong, the jokes are stupid, and the debates over Midwest geography are somehow both.
Starting point is 00:32:19 We don't fight about politics. We fight about whether Ohio counts as East or Middle, and whether cottage cheese is a drink, a food, way of life so if you take your training seriously but not yourself become a massonomic supporting member today if you don't like it you can always go back to fighting. Hey two weeks in a row. Hey. Add to do it man. Yeah all right let's get our guest on the horn. Big Jakey's at you. Yeah, well we got a bunch of chats.
Starting point is 00:32:54 We got to kill all that. I don't want to be distracted by those chats. You got to chat in the Discord guys. Keep the chat out of Zoom. I'm not going to look at the Discord till, but I mean, keep that in there. Big Jake, is that you? That's me. How are we doing? Doing all right. What did you just put in there?
Starting point is 00:33:13 Oh, man, I've got a little fellow, Velo. Oh, gummy bear. Nice. Yeah, I learned recently that we have a lot of crazy flavored Swedish's ends up here that you guys don't have No, this is actually this is half gummy bear and half cherry cola Because I opened my cherry cola one and one of them was open So I had to like literally take everyone out and brush it off and put it into a new can Because I was just getting tabs of nicotine. It was disgusting
Starting point is 00:33:45 I'm drawn to the it's the minty ones for me. I've tried the kind of more flavorful and uh, I don't know what it is. I go back to the peppermint or a spearmint is, is what I keep going back to. So. I don't mind the minty ones when they don't burn. Like we have these ones up here that are like hot mint or cool or whatever. And you put it in and like it literally your gums start to inflame and your tongue lights up. I just I can't do any of that stuff yet. I did chewing tobacco for like three years of
Starting point is 00:34:16 my life. I couldn't get into Zen now because I know it would be a gateway to worser things. No it's just a game. It would be for me. Worse or things no, it's just a little bit Gar in months because I'm just like main linings in to know so yeah Anyway, welcome to the show Well, let's hit you with the hard one buddy what what brought you Mastinomics you to massonomics? Why are you here? Why'd you stay? How'd you find us? Et cetera. Oh, it's kind of a great story. I, uh, I found out about massonomics when, uh, coop, uh, garage gym reviews did his visit up there.
Starting point is 00:34:54 And, uh, I was just starting to, so this was like, you know, 2020 and I. Barely started thinking about building a home gym and, uh, my buddy told me about garage gym reviews and this was a vintage coupe and it was actually kind of funny because I don't know if you remember the video or not but oh yeah he was kind of crapping on South Dakota yeah he should be out there and I thought this is terrible this is where these guys live you know it wasn't he was trying to be funny when he met him in person was shitting on it too but he just didn't come across as funny came across as a twat Yeah, he came across like a prick for sure, but I did not get
Starting point is 00:35:33 Mastodon mix from that from that video That's what are my buddies one of my buddies had told me about have you guys heard of those guys? told me about, have you guys heard of those guys, buff dudes? The buff dudes? I've seen a couple other things. They're boring, I don't know. Oh man. And I thought, so I had just seen one of their videos.
Starting point is 00:35:55 I think I've only seen their stuff because they made a squat rack or something. I think I only consumed any of their content when it was gym equipment or home gym related, I believe. But like anything outside of that, I'm like, I'm not watching these guys. I think it's two brothers and their dad or something, if I recall. Yeah. And I guess they're pretty popular, but it just wasn't my thing.
Starting point is 00:36:15 And so Coop, uh, when Coop goes up there and man, it just, it did not connect with me. I thought that they were trying to go, I totally misread the situation, you know, and I thought is this just another one of the two dudes together in a gym? You know and so I just totally bypassed it went on to do it one coop Joey didn't like that one. I thought it's pretty funny. It was actually pretty good. That was really good. Yeah. Sad I just had to say goodbye. Episode title, maybe. But I totally forgot about Mastinomics.
Starting point is 00:36:53 And I don't know how they circled back around. I think that same guy that recommended, we recommend videos back and forth. I think he sent me one of their memes probably and put Mastinomics on the the radars so I you know started seeing their memes then I followed them and then I started doing the classic cherry picking of episodes but I was never super deep into the powerlifting world and so a lot of these people I didn't know and so I found even back then I
Starting point is 00:37:22 enjoyed it when the times before the interview and the times after the interview. And I thought, wow, I totally misread these guys and they're hilarious. And then they started talking about the supporting membership. So I probably picked it back up somewhere in the fall of 2023. And I started listening every week and then I started being current with it. And then finally, one day, uh, I was in an airport, I travel a lot for work and I was in an airport, I thought, ah, screw it.
Starting point is 00:37:55 They keep talking about this discord. I'm going to go ahead and become a supporting member. I've never been on discord in my life, but this might be a good way to kill time if I'm sitting around an airport or, you know, on the road, sitting room or something and so I did I jumped in and man I really enjoyed it's been a great you know eighteen months or whatever I had a great time. That's awesome glad to have you buddy so people can know who just told that whole story of what's your name or what's your IG? All that, where are they gonna find you at on the socials? Yeah, my name's Jacob. My Instagram is jakey121. That's really all I'm on.
Starting point is 00:38:33 I've got a Facebook that I don't use, but Instagram is pretty much, is Instagram and Discord for me are the only two apps that I use that are any kind of social media related. But yeah, jakey 121 at Instagram. Nice. And was it, was your first experience with Discord, like our discord or had you been on there for other stuff? No, it was just Mastinomics.
Starting point is 00:38:53 And so that's kind of where the Jakey came from because I logged in and I'm like, okay, I got to find a screen name, uh, that, uh, there, there appeared to be a lot of Jake's in there. And, uh, so I was like, well, if I'm just, I'm a new big Jake, that's probably not going to work. So I'm like, I'll just go with big Jakey. I didn't see another Jakey. And, uh, so that's what I did.
Starting point is 00:39:13 And I kind of laid low for awhile. Actually I posted like right off the bat and then I got so much anxiety about it. Cause I'm like, nobody knows who I am. And after like 30 seconds, I deleted it. I don't even know what I put. Who are you big Keith? I'm like, Oh knows who I am. And after like 30 seconds, I deleted it. I don't even know what I put. Who are you big Keith? I'm like, Oh my gosh, this is embarrassing. So I deleted it and then I just kind of read it for a while and then
Starting point is 00:39:33 started commenting on certain things and trying to, trying to engage with people. And, um, yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's really fun. It's a great thing. It's gotta be more intimidating now too, too because like you're not coming into a 200 person discord or 150 person discord 627 yeah, there was like I don't know there was under 200 when I joined or right at 200 because I'm less than 200 on my Member so it's just wild Was intimidating and we were all friends on like social media before Discord even was a thing, a lot of us.
Starting point is 00:40:07 So it's like the first time I joined there was like 10 people that I'm friends with on Instagram. I was like, hey, buddy. But new guys, I could see that being extremely intimidating. And I'm like, yeah, I would just be. Because it takes effort at this point to kind of assimilate to the extent of like to be known. If you're not commenting, if you're only voyoring, like no one's ever gonna, like you're gonna get what you get out of it on your own level, but like no one's gonna know who you are. And it might not translate back over to Instagram and then you're not gonna have Instagram friends. So it does take a little bit of work.
Starting point is 00:40:38 You have to put yourself out there to an extent. You have to make sure people find you. Because to me, it's like, it's cool to listen to Mastanomics and everything, but unless you're, the crew is's like it's cool to you know, listen to Masonomics and everything but unless you're The crew is really where it's at like this the community we have now like that's that's like that's the fun like It's pretty cool to have like, you know 50 of your friends like a post or something that you only know because of A podcast that you're all fans of in the community that you joined because of that. So it's pretty cool
Starting point is 00:41:03 So we're glad to have you, bud. Yeah, thank you. The sticker exchange has been a blast. Joey, I guess I need to send a couple of your way. I always enjoyed that. I had stickers for my gym. I'm not like a graphic designer or anything, but I just always think branding is cool.
Starting point is 00:41:19 And so I came up with the name for my gym when I first started it. Nobody even knew it really but me, but it's been fun. and it's been a great way to connect with different crew members, you know, just like you said, putting yourself out there sending, they don't know you, but just saying, Hey man, let's, uh, let's swap gym stickers. It's been a lot of fun. Absolutely. Hey, I still have a bunch of American ones if people need, I forget where I put them, but I bought, I got a whole book so I can ship to the States. So if people need... Oh, I forget where I put them. But I got a whole book, so I can ship to the States.
Starting point is 00:41:47 So if people want them, DM me your address. Don't say it on the podcast. Ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha. I know. Gary, the other day, he was like, hey, is this your address?
Starting point is 00:41:58 And I was like, how did you get that? Like, is that posted somewhere? And then he's like, well you sent me a package so I just got it off of your thing. I was like, oh, oh. I did give someone your address in the last month. I don't remember who it was though.
Starting point is 00:42:14 But it was like, it was, no, it wasn't like, it was someone you know. It wasn't like a new Some blocked accounts messaging Keith. No, no. Hey, what's Joey's address? Just Tango Charlie. No, no, no. It was it was someone we know well. I just don't remember, it was Joey's address. Just Tango Charlie. Yeah, no, no, no. It was, it was someone we know well. I just don't remember who it was. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:42:29 That's actually one of the running jokes is I'm so secretive. I don't post my kids or my address or even my, like much of my front yard on Instagram, but if Cruz like, what's your address? I'm like, you can find me here. Like, yeah. Big Gary was a great shout because he was the first person that I really interacted with on a one-on-one level because there were some drop where the first 50 people got like a holographic raw power sticker and I can't remember
Starting point is 00:42:59 what drop it was, but they're just, usually there's at least something in there for me, but there was just nothing in there for me on this drop. And a big Gary posted in the discord, Hey, I've got a raw power. If anybody wants to just shoot me a message. So I instantly shot him a message and a couple of days goes by and he sends me a message on Instagram. He said, man, you're not going to believe this. I'm going to get this sticker your way, but there's a story behind this sticker. Big Gabe originally asked for this sticker. And before he wrote
Starting point is 00:43:28 himself out of the discord, he's like, you're gonna own a piece of history when I send this to you. Road himself out of this. That was great. Oh my god. That's hysterical. That actually is a pretty iconic sticker. Then that is that means that yeah, I don't think I don't like Yeah, I like yeah I don't know anyone I'm like only a handful of people even like made the effort to follow Gabe because he was such a wild card and I was like you're weird weird dude I don't think I'm gonna follow you so you speaking of addresses you know you're gonna go and share your ads with everybody you can keep it vague
Starting point is 00:44:03 basically I like to ask people where where are you from and where you live addresses, you know, you're going to go and share your ads with everybody. You can keep it vague to basically I always like to ask people where are you from and where you live now? Yeah, I'm originally from Oklahoma. I lived in Oklahoma my whole life and actually about a year ago, I relocated to southern Indiana just across the river from Louisville. So I did that for work. I got a new position at work, but I had to relocate to do it. So right now I'm in in Indiana, Southern Indiana. Gotcha. That'll lead to one of my crew questions from the old Instagram. Where did anchor barbell come from? You're an Indiana question mark, basically. Well, I don't know why I always thought anchors were cool. Yeah, I've got some tattoos that I've got I actually have an anchor
Starting point is 00:44:46 I've got like a sailor Jerry anchor tattoo. It's not in the Navy and nothing like that I just always thought they look cool and I don't know when I was naming my gym. It just came to my mind. I thought yeah anchors. You're sick Let's just do it. No that tracks or something. You literally put on your body and might as well call it You know, that's just that's not bad at all i can appreciate that. Yeah so you know you've been you've been around for a couple years now i was with that one piece of merch you have seen that you know isn't available and you really wish you pulled trigger on. Man of the prepping for this question i don't know the titles of very many things but you can listen to good. You can describe it and we'll try to do our best to understand. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:26 Uh, minor, very basic. Well, one thing I wish I would have done is bought like five of the hardly working, uh, long sleeve T the pocket long sleeve T only bought one. I wish I had that thing is awesome, but the stuff I don't have the, uh, the neon. Uh, I think it says mess. I don't think it's a lift. I think it's a massonomics It's like looks like a neon light. I think it does say left I think it's lift in them and like a beer neon sign. Yeah, I think it's left
Starting point is 00:45:53 Yeah, I love that one and then sometimes I don't I think this was actually for sale not all that long ago But it's just the like I call it varsity writing, but it just says massonomics. It's a crew neck. Yeah. It's just the black with block massonomics on it. Yep. I've got that. And there was a maroon one not that long ago, I thought, but I just don't like sleeves, so I almost never wear it. Oh, that baseball tee is really cool, too.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Hmm. Uh, that that's a, that's a cool one. That's vintage. Yeah, that that's a sharp shirt. cool one. That's vintage. Yeah, that's a sharp shirt. They should bring that one back. Open the vault. They got a pretty in-depth vault, I can imagine. Actually, I'm curious of how many I think they've talked about it once,
Starting point is 00:46:37 maybe or how many products they've actually sold and had available. Like, it's got to be like 150 or something crazy you would think or at least a hundred there's no way it's under a hundred right if you count everything like if you count like I mean if we're just talking shirts it might be different but I don't know maybe I think Kevin has a Kevin actually probably has a very very good answer and he probably you know he'll at least had no the shirts and the shorts and then it that alone would probably yeah Let us know in the discord Kevin how much shit they got buddy
Starting point is 00:47:12 Big Jake we got that Hall of Fame status number or where you at on the Hall of Fame Road to Yeah, this will be number six for me. That's not bad No, I got to get lift hard, lift easy. I mean, I could get, so I'm gonna go to home gym con. So I'll be at eight, you know, this, you know, a week from now. So what are you gonna, home gym con's gonna get you
Starting point is 00:47:34 a picture with crew basically, is that what you're gonna do? Yeah. Okay, sort of. Yeah. That tracks. Yeah, and I'll tell you what, I came in, I was pretty close on the March Madness thing to be a contest
Starting point is 00:47:45 winner but yeah I just got to get to lift hard lift easy if they do it next year maybe I'll make the trip I really wanted to this year just didn't work out. No I would love to see out there at some point it's it's it's a blast if you can always like there's been people that have like haven't made it lift hard but made it to Crew Falls and had a blast so keep that on your radar, too I'm assuming the the first or second week. Well pretty much the first Saturday in December. They'll probably be a crew falls event. Uh It's not not worth it. That's for sure. Yeah Oh geez, I Went P did we talk about it? Are you certified?
Starting point is 00:48:22 No, I am certified. Everything's up to date on the clicker. I'm first round certified. So yeah, yeah, yeah. The guy. Yeah. You stole Dodds. You stole Dodds banner. Oh, come on.
Starting point is 00:48:38 No, no, I'm teasing. That kid was like he was sleeping through like the first three drops. What's the gym name? Anchor Barbell Club. Very good. Very good. Thanks. Is that actually on the the was it named?
Starting point is 00:48:55 It was named because a lot of people have like him then hollered about their name and then like, you know, ordered it real quick and then didn't get the good name in or did the name they wanted in. So like you see their certification. Like,, their certs certification. You're like, well that's not your gym name. That's just something else. I got nervous. I almost put my name on that. I was filling it out and you know, you feel like such a rush to get this. Oh yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:16 When that drops going on, you're like, okay, what are you, what I'm typing, what am I going to do? And I've got my name typed out and I'm like, I don't think this, I think what that put in here is what's going to be on my certificate. If it's not, who cares? So I'm just going to put the gym name on there and whatever happens, happens. My certificate has my name on it. It has big Joey on it.
Starting point is 00:49:33 It doesn't have the, the Dilf dungeon on it, but on the map, it's the Dilf dungeon. Yeah. You're probably getting another certificate. Yeah. I'm sure if I cared, talking about what you were just talking about too, H certificate. Yeah, I'm sure if I cared. I'm talking about what you're just talking about, too. Harkins back. I forgot to the so they had a video drop today. Big Kurt Jim tore out in Ohio.
Starting point is 00:49:57 It was a long one. I know no one else watched it. I'm assuming no one else watched it. I tried. I was I was able to, I mean, I did get through it. I kind of had to have it in the background for there while I was doing stuff around the house. But like, Kurt's a great guy. You know, I've hung out with him multiple times at home gym con and everything.
Starting point is 00:50:14 So I always like hanging, I always like seeing Kurt's content and a lot of cool stuff in there. You could tell, I always like it when it's someone they know and they're buddies with too. Cause just the banter, it's not as, not that they, I think I've ever really seen Tanner force banter, but it's just like, you know, that extra level of like the inner circle,
Starting point is 00:50:31 because they're already good friends kind of thing. So I always like those conversations, like they might lead to something a little more than surface level. So like, I just, I always enjoy when they're at their buddies' places. So it was just a great, it was a good video. It was long, but you know,
Starting point is 00:50:44 Kurt's got a good enough of a gym. It was worth it. And there was some Easter egg, shooting the shit and stuff. And I've liked all these videos when they, when Tanner waits for the perfect segue to present them with the new Coozie. And it's just, it's hysterical.
Starting point is 00:51:00 Cause it's just like, Kurt was getting ready to show him a homemade one kinda. Cause he didn't Actually get to it But he had in the back like a blue koozie with magnets on it It looked like and he went to go grab it and Tanner kind of stopped. He was like no no no no Let's let's show you this one kind of thing Kurt was a big fan. So well even if you just find that part in the video towards the end that was It was it was pretty funny and worth it. So I enjoy those
Starting point is 00:51:27 was pretty funny and worth it so I enjoy those. Big Jakey so I do want to give you kudos and thank you you were like I think I scheduled you like a month ago and I think three weeks ago you had like more submissions for your questionnaire than every guest that I had like pretty much leading up to that so that makes our life a lot easier I appreciate that so when you did send that questionnaire out to your friends and family and buddies, how was that? How do you explain, hey, fill this out for me, please. It's about my online friends, online friends, online friends podcast. Yeah, it's interesting because it's hard to explain massonomics to people. And then you're describing an offshoot.
Starting point is 00:52:05 And so I'm, even with my own family, they're very aware of massonomics. And so I had my daughter fill one out and then I had my wife and my son filled one out and she's like, oh, this is so awesome. You're gonna be on massonomics. I said, no, I'm not gonna be on massonomics but this episode is gonna to be about me.
Starting point is 00:52:25 It's even better. So, um, but, uh, so I would just tell the people that were totally uninitiated. I just said, Hey, you know, that kind of half, uh, lifting training podcast. That's really not about lifting or training all that much that I talk about all the time. This podcast is, is the sister podcast to that. So and so it my friends that I sent it to, I felt like I was sending it to some home run hitters that would definitely fill it out. And so it really makes me happy that they did it. I know that
Starting point is 00:52:56 makes your guys jobs a lot easier. Absolutely. Absolutely. Um, yeah, appreciate that. Okay, My turn. Normally we do these other way around, but you guys have been talking a lot. So one big lift, you can have one person act as your hype person. And you know that if they are the person slapping your back and hyping you up, that you're going to hit that lift. Who is that person? Dead, alive, past,
Starting point is 00:53:25 present, doesn't matter pick somebody. Well, I'm not, I'm not going to ride two horses with one ass. Uh, but I have to, I have to mention, uh, two people because they both came to my mind when I thought about this. One is my friend Jake actually, and his name is also Jake. And, um, he's just a guy that we talk about training all the time. And, you know, if people don't train, they don't really care what's going on in your, your training journey. And so, but he's one that he doesn't care. I could talk to him about programs or whatever and on that same person for him. So I thought about him, but ultimately, I landed. So I've got a 13 year old son. And I think it would be him for multiple reasons. One, he would truly believe whatever the weight
Starting point is 00:54:14 was, I could do it for sure. Two, he's 13. He's now starting to try to angle for alpha status in the house. And so I would feel this pressure. I have to lift this. There's no way I can't lift this with my son watching. So it would be my son plus he would gas me up pretty good. There's no way he he would let me down. So I think I would go with my son Dax actually. That's a good answer.
Starting point is 00:54:41 Yeah, like that good answer. Good reasoning. Yeah, well done All right, so have this other game we like to play here least fun most fun So I'm gonna give you a single topic and you kind of you know Go through your druthers and tell me you know the best part and the worst part or in this instance the least fun most fun So I'm kind of him in an hollywood one. I want to ask but I'm gonna go back So least fun most fun coaching your daughter soccer team to him and in Holland which one I want to ask but I'm gonna go back so least fun most fun coaching your daughter's soccer team okay yeah so it was
Starting point is 00:55:09 actually is my son's soccer team sorry yeah no problem the most fun was I was never I played sports up to high school had had a blast, was an okay player at what I did, had some highlights, but the most fun was whatever he did and he's really good, uh, was just far exceeded any excitement I ever had for my own stuff. It was just amazing. And so to be firsthand at that, uh, see it firsthand was just, that was hands down the best. Um, but the least fun, um, yeah, I guess it would probably be, um, he didn't really, since I was his dad, he didn't really respond to me sometimes it was kind of the same voice at home, the same one, soccer. And so there was actually, uh, another guy that I coached with and he could
Starting point is 00:56:04 say the exact same thing that I said. And, um, he would, you know, my son would listen to him, um, but he wouldn't listen to me. So that'd be frustrating at times for sure. Right. And what, what, what age group was this kind of, so he played all the way up to, um, a U 15 team. And then he did, uh, uh, once he got into junior high and we moved up here. It was kind of a different situation.
Starting point is 00:56:27 And so it was all the way up. He was 12, but he was playing up to you 15. So it was pretty competitive. All right. Cool. So that sounds like a, it sounds like a good time. Yeah. Good answers.
Starting point is 00:56:38 Whoa. We'll allow all those. Uh, I did want to hit briefly. I'm'm not it doesn't really fall in line here, but like, so you joined, you know, you've been here for a little while. You know, you kind of had commented on in our discord that, you know, you finally completed our backlog. So I walk us through that journey a little bit of like, when did you start? Because I was like, I'm curious, like, because it's it. It's getting to be more work now to get new listeners for us. Because we're getting all these new crew, but now there's 74 Discord channels.
Starting point is 00:57:11 I'm not saying we get buried necessarily, but I don't know. I feel like we have to almost go out and recruit people a little bit here, or just be super active and try to get the good word out about us. So how did you stumble across us and how was that whole journey? Yeah, I think I actually, so I used to, my job, I drove a lot for work. Now I fly a lot for work, but I used to drive a lot. So I had a lot of windshield time. And when was your guys first episode? What year was your guys?
Starting point is 00:57:43 2022. Two years ago. Yeah, pretty much two years ago this month. Yeah. Mid June twenty three, May twenty, twenty three, something like that. OK, so you were only the first time I listened to it. It was it had to have been fewer than 10 podcasts. The first 10. And so then I was.
Starting point is 00:58:00 Those are hard episodes to listen to until we got our groove. And it was it was great. So really, for me, what the disadvantage was, was I didn't know anybody. And so there's no cherry picking back then. No. So it actually would be I don't really know a lot of people now, but I definitely know them a lot better than I did back then. So really, I should probably revisit that that first 10. But what got me off of the Hall of Fame card
Starting point is 00:58:26 is what got me off of staying current with you guys the whole time because I had 400 episodes, or whatever it was of Masonomics, I had to work through or 300 and something. And so I put just for Hall of Fame status sake, I put unpaid and underrated on pause for a little bit till I got the Masonomics one done. And then, uh, that, that, then I caught up with you guys, but, um, I'll tell you,
Starting point is 00:58:51 and especially, um, going through this questionnaire process and, you know, you sending me a message and Hey, here's what we do. And, and getting just a little peek into what you guys do. Um, it, to me, it's incredible. Um, the quality of the shows as far as you guys have gotten just so natural and talking with people and you've got your rhythm down and, uh, that's, you know, not being critical the first, but you know, you're always going to get better as you go, right?
Starting point is 00:59:20 And so, um, anyways, it's just, I know it's a lot of work and you guys have jobs and these are late at night and everything like that. So I just think it's so cool that you do it. Because the only reward for it is the fact that you're doing it. And so like what you guys probably don't see is like even with me when I told my family that I was going to be on this and when I told a couple of my buddies I was going to be on this, they're like, Oh, that's so cool. You know, you're going to be on a podcast. It's about you. And so it's a really, really neat deal that you guys do this. I would encourage you to hang with it. Even though it feels like you're getting stuck in the mud right now and getting new listeners, just keep, keep trudging through it. Cause
Starting point is 00:59:58 it's a really, really, really cool project for sure. It was, um, it w thank you. It was really cool to hear Tanner reference Scar. Yep. In passing. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Be like, oh, I'm a pain in the rib, she said. And it was just. Yeah, it was the soccer.
Starting point is 01:00:16 It was the knee. Yeah, about her tearing her ACLs. Yeah, it was like a 10 minute segue and something that we brought into the ether. It was pretty cool. Yeah, and I think that that really helps. And you're right. We're doing this for the Discord, essentially.
Starting point is 01:00:33 I met up with a buddy the other day, and I don't know if he's going to listen to this episode or not, but he was like, oh, what's it called? And he went and followed it on Spotify. And then I was like, I literally don't expect you to listen to this. No. This podcast is for 400 particular people. No.
Starting point is 01:00:46 Yeah. They're fine. They're paid to listen to, but we'll take it. If they are listening to Mastinomics, and when they mention us, I just wonder, does it not register to people? Like if they're listening, and Tanner goes, oh, and so-and-so was the guest non-paid and underrated.
Starting point is 01:01:03 And last week, Scar talked about this. And, um, you know, I just wonder like, do people hear that and then just be like, meh, right? Like, do you not get curious at this thing that Tanner talks about every day or every week? Um, I also think didn't Huck Finn say on our show, he was going to make the home gym nerd shirt. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:24 Didn't he announce that on our show? was gonna make the home gym nerd shirt yeah didn't he announce that on our show yeah yeah okay cuz I remember that and Tanner was like oh he messaged me and I was like no I thought he said it on our show no no no Tanner so so so Huck said it on our well Huck said it multiple no maybe he actually that might have been the first time he dropped it was on our episode and Tanner listen to our episode like you know immediately after it comes out because he's you know stood and then that's when that's when Tanner message Talk to just let him know. Hey, we already made this shirt. Sorry
Starting point is 01:01:57 Mm-hmm, and then the Huck hasn't really talked about it since I think he has a little butter Like I think he's like fake but heard about it, but then I think he's actually a little but heard about it Yeah, but it's all it's like it's pretty funny we contribute a lot to the You know to the site cast. Yeah Well, you know and you've had jokes crossover to there's things that there's there's jokes and you know memes or whatever that that crossover Into the Masonomics world to they get mentioned or in the comments on an Instagram post or something Yep, I mean even the name crew falls
Starting point is 01:02:30 Yeah, that was me right, so Thank you. Thank you for that. Yeah, it was a Actually, I might I might try to clip that cuz I was that was actually like the most sincere like you do good guys comment She's like it's a comedy show, but you do good guys, comment, whatever. Morgan laughs all the time. She's like, it's a comedy show, but you guys are all sappy and shut up. We're the number one urban podcast. OK, yeah, yeah, we keep it real.
Starting point is 01:02:57 All right. What's next there, Keith, one go lifting or work, lifting and drinking is all I know. I don't really get into this conversation. I mean, I'm feel really get into these conversations. Feel free to let the listeners know what your career looks like currently or anything you want to let. You are going to come meet us in person someday and a lot of people just shoot the shit. Your job is an easy icebreaker for people, so if they know what you do and they have a kindred spirit with that, so feel free to as little or as much as you want on that subject.
Starting point is 01:03:22 Yeah, for sure. I work for a trucking company and... Who are you, Big Mathias? Yeah, and what I do, our company has offices all over the United States. Actually, we have one in Canada as well. And, but I go around and I visit it. These are agents. I go around and I visit all these agents and I just do business reviews with them. But it's, it's really fun because I get to travel, but you know, part of it is meals and, you know, going and doing cool stuff and meeting people, um, all the time and getting out of the office. And so, um, it, uh, sometimes it's, it's a lot of work just being on the road so
Starting point is 01:04:03 much, but it's a really cool job. But yeah, I work for a trucking company. Cool. Do you think is the driving better or worse than the flying? Like what do you, like not necessarily job, like job A versus job B, but just like being on the road as much, like if you're gonna be gone either way,
Starting point is 01:04:20 would you rather just fly somewhere and then be in a hotel or then have to like versus driving 10 hours a day? Yeah, that's a great question. I think I would actually rather drive. And you know, going back to your story earlier, if I have a six hour drive and even if I finish late at night and I've got six hours to go home, I'm just gonna do it.
Starting point is 01:04:41 You know, I'm not beholden to a flight schedule or I may call the night, but wake up super early the next morning and go ahead and just take off. And where I live, where I'm from in Oklahoma, it's a really small country area. So you drive, if you want to go anywhere with anything, it's a two hour drive anyway, two plus hours. And so I'm used to doing a lot of driving. So I do kind of miss the driving because you could kind of control your own schedule. Yeah, yeah, airport I could. I haven't flown since December and
Starting point is 01:05:12 with literally as many planes as fallen out of the sky in the last couple months. I'm not gonna say I'm like, I mean, I didn't fly for like an adult my whole life because I was like, just I wouldn't. I was afraid because I didn't know that it was just like super just like getting in a fast car. that's all it felt like you know I had no like I was just like I don't I don't need to fly I'm not going anywhere and then like I've flown like fucking 15 times in the last two years or something wild but yeah the wife has definitely gotten my ear a couple times about like you know because she was always
Starting point is 01:05:39 watching the news and like god damn another flight crash and another this and that and it's just yeah so I'm flying out next week to home gym con. So like, he fingers, fingers crossed and keep this podcast going after next week. Yeah. Also, um, good work flying for a living. Go ahead and bring that up again, Keith. It is funny though, cause people will send me that stuff. Did you see this plane?
Starting point is 01:06:00 You know, and I'm like, yeah, I saw it, but I try not to dwell on it because I'm going to be on one tomorrow. Thank you for reminding me constantly about it. It was like um I think the first time I flew out to the we drove to the first Live Hard Live Easy so I think I flew the second time and I decided to watch The Grey. I had it downloaded to my phone and I was like I got two hours I'm gonna watch one of my favorite movies everybody's, what's the matter with you? I ain't afraid of no planes. Well, what's that lifting history look like? What's, uh, you know, why'd you find the barbell?
Starting point is 01:06:41 Yeah, that's a great question. Um, I'll tell you, I was never somebody that lifted in a high school. I just, I tried it a couple of times. It wasn't really my thing. And then, um, had a kid and, uh, man, I looked up one day, uh, somewhere when I was around 30 years old and I was just so out of shape. And, uh, my brother-in-law is my wife's brother. Um, he was like, man, I've been, uh, working in my garage. If you want to come over and start working out. And, um, so I took that as him politely saying, Hey dude, it's probably time to start getting in shape.
Starting point is 01:07:13 And so I took him up on it, but we did, um, you know, like a lot of people, it started with like the kind of circuit training, hit style stuff. And neither one of us really knew what we were doing with a barbell. But I kind of hung with it and we worked out together for a while and I wound up eventually joining a gym and I still didn't know what I was doing, but I found, I can't remember what my first program was that I ran, but I didn't even really know what a program was and My buddy asked me if I'd ever run a program before I said no, so he mentioned something to me So I started and I just really enjoyed it. And so, you know fast forward I've kind of just
Starting point is 01:07:57 Tried to stay with it this you know since I've been about I really started barbell lifting and kind of power lifting style, probably in my mid to late thirties. I'm 42. And so, uh, man, I left a lot of gains on the table in those young years. I'm telling you. Uh, but, um, but now, you know, it's kind of more power lifting style is really what I do. And, um, ran juggernaut for a while. I'm doing something else now, but could easily see myself going back to juggernaut.
Starting point is 01:08:26 But yeah, that's how I found it. And, uh, I can't really at this point, uh, I can't imagine not doing it. Was it five 31? Is that what you started with? That's what everybody starts with. I know. I know. I hear people talk about that.
Starting point is 01:08:39 Or, uh, cube is a big one. Cause it was like, you know, when you would Google powerlifting 10 years ago, there's only so many free templates that kind of came up and cube and five three one are definitely worth the top of the list for me back then. I actually thought about because I never ran five three one and I've heard it brought up, especially going through the back catalog. I hear mentioned so many times and I thought maybe I'll just run it just to see but I don't know probably won't. I wonder if you're just probably it just to see. But I don't know. Probably won't.
Starting point is 01:09:05 I wonder if you're just probably too advanced at the moment. Right. Like maybe so, because I think that's what I started with. I don't even really know what it was. I think I read a little bit on it. It was like, yeah, I can do that. Yeah. And then found Juggernaut like in twenty twenty one. I've pretty much been on it since I think I bought. Yeah. At this point.
Starting point is 01:09:24 Mm hmm. Is anybody else? have pretty much been on it since I think I bought the house at this point. Is anybody else? No, nobody else here is on Juggernaut. No, man, it keeps doing this thing. Every time I open it, it resets. And it goes back to day one, week one, and I have to log out and log back in to get back to my day. It's fucking infuriating. Does that annoying delay?
Starting point is 01:09:44 And it's like the only reason I have Juggernaut is so I don't have to do things. I just open it and it tells me what to lift that day and then I get stronger. And it's when somebody's like, write your own programming. And I was like, see the thing is I won't. Like I just won't do it. Bugs aside, how's that update? I mean, I know it just came out. Have you messed with it at all or looked at it? No, and we probably don't have it yet. We usually get it two or three weeks later.
Starting point is 01:10:11 But maybe that's what the update is, is it just makes you reset your programming once every week. And it goes to like day one, week one, but you can't do anything, right? It says it's complete, but you can't hit complete week. It's, uh, that's frustrating. Yeah. It's technology. At least my laptop works. So when did the, did I, uh, when did the home gym come in? Do we said, uh, 2020 or something like that? Was that, was it a COVID gym?
Starting point is 01:10:42 No, it's crazy. So I actually started it the month before I started it in, uh, I started buying, I bought, uh, well, I was gifted from the, uh, easy bar fairy, uh, an easy bar just showed up in my garage one day. Uh, and, uh, so I thought, well, crap, I better go buy some plates. So I just went and bought the, uh, you know, the Academy sports 300 pounds set, you know, and, um, then literally the next month, COVID COVID happened. So luckily when that craze was going off, I was able, all I really needed at that point was, um,
Starting point is 01:11:19 a bench really, I needed a squat rack, but I'd already, I was just going to do that, that Amazon, you know, $150 deal that a lot of people start with. And so the timing was perfect. I didn't really have to play in the the covid boom. Mm hmm. Lucky you. Yeah. Who? I look down at my gym now and I'm like, you're not worth now. What I paid for you. I still remember the other day, I was like, maybe I just sell it and just go to the gym.
Starting point is 01:11:46 And she was like, you would never, you would never sell your little gym. I don't think you would ever go to a gym, like just the dealing with people again. I know, but I thought- After training alone for five years, like yeah, you're not gonna go. The more I think about like how,
Starting point is 01:12:00 it's the drive home that kills me. You finish your work day, and then you drive for 45 minutes. The last thing I think is I can't wait to get the gym. The first thing I think is I need a nap before dinner because that drive is so long. But if the drive was five minutes to the gym, I'd be okay, right? So we think about the content. Yeah. I mean, they, Mastronomics got six weeks out of Tommy going back to a public gym. That would need to be video content. You'd get three weeks before I go, what am I going to do with this again?
Starting point is 01:12:38 Idiot shrugging on the deadlift platform again. So, uh, here it says you have a, uh, strong dedication to a podcast that I also follow. The rewatchables, pretty good movie podcast. So this is not my I don't think it's my favorite. Like I listen to a lot of podcasts about movies. And honestly, it's a good one. I'm not even like, because I think the guy that runs that he's like a big sports guy or something, right? But like, I don't I don't follow many of those platforms. And he has some like, I think they have some TV ones, but they want you to pay for it and fuck you with all that.
Starting point is 01:13:09 Cause I think they hired someone from another free podcast that they used to listen to, to do this like Patreon shit and be behind a paywall. And I'm like, I don't want them to do, I'm not paying to listen to a podcast. Cause you know, they might've been the, they were probably the second person to put a podcast behind a paywall.
Starting point is 01:13:25 But yeah, just a big movie buff in general then, I'm guessing, if you're listening to content, about content. Yeah, I've often wondered if you knew what the rewatchables was, especially with the type of, sometimes you'll reference a movie and I'm like, oh, that's a rewatchable for sure. And yeah, so I do. I try to stay current as I can with movies. Sometimes you'll reference a movie and I'm like, oh, that's a rewatchable for sure. And Yeah, so I do I try to stay current as I can with movies. I try to go back and watch some of the old classics and
Starting point is 01:13:56 Yeah, I really enjoy watching movies If you're looking for another one, I can I think I've talked about it on here too, but uh, shat the movies That's more 80s and 90s, but I can I can DM it to you But it's uh, you know It's kind of evolved over the years because they've had different guests and whatnot Yeah so their whole their their rating system is my favorite because it's it's it's one well, it's zero to four I believe but it's like a It's how many wipes it takes to get the shit off your ass of how good or bad the movie is
Starting point is 01:14:22 So as so zero wipes is a perfect movie and four wipes is like the worst movie ever So it's just I just I find that very amusing and it sucks though Cuz like I only want to listen to the ones of movies I've seen and like right now I've got like four and like my cue that I haven't listened to Because I haven't seen the movie and then like I'm reading the description and I was like I don't think I want to watch that movie So it's like now it'll be a month until I can listen to a new episode That like is relevant, but they have a huge backlog, too So that's what I did I cherry picked like a hundred episodes of movies that I've liked and seen
Starting point is 01:14:51 So if you know a little different from rewatchables for sure But better than some of the others that I found is I think they did only the only I think rewatchables and shat The movie is the only two that I'm currently subscribed to so sounds like it might be up your alley Yeah for sure. Well, you're going to think I'm a real sicko then because I even if I've seen the movie a hundred times like every year, our only family tradition is that we watch Home Alone and Order of Pizza on Christmas Eve. And so I've seen that a million times and they did a rewatchables on Home Alone.
Starting point is 01:15:22 And I went ahead and watched it again before I listened to the episode. Oh, on everything. Yeah. So that's that's what slows me down is I got to watch the movie and then I was so it's really messed up. It's like five hours worth of my time. Yeah, I could. I mean, that's a bit of a benefit.
Starting point is 01:15:42 I mean, that's it's it's that that solves the whole Doom scrolling on your Netflix of what do I watch? It's like I'm gonna watch this movie because it's gonna all lead to another three hours of content for me So like I get that yeah every now and then there's one where it's like no I've never heard of that movie It sounds really cool. I'm gonna watch it and listen to the podcast but like 90% of the time It's like I've watched that movie at least two or three times I remember 80% of the movie, like line for line, basically. It's like, I'm not gonna watch this right now.
Starting point is 01:16:09 But I do remember. No, I get it. No, but that's awesome. It's cool to think people are, like I tell, like people like hear me listen to it. And like my wife, she's like, are you really listening to a podcast about a movie? And I'm like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:16:21 And same with like, I do like some TV show ones too, because the TV show ones are even more beneficial when it's like a long series and they're like trying to keep you up to date with like, yeah, oh is who's who's the killer or you know this that and the other so It's like having a call about it. It's like about having a call about an email, I guess I can see the redundancy. Yeah, let's I'm going to send you an email then let's all get on a call and talk about it. Yeah, I love that shit. Did you see my email? Did you get that thing I sent you? Our policy at work now is an in-person meeting, then followed by sending out the notes or the bullet points. It was actually helpful because they try to pull some shady stuff and they're like,
Starting point is 01:16:57 oh, they don't want to put anything on paper. So some of my other co-workers have been basically demanding stuff to be on paper as of late and now there you know Now there's a paper trail so that it's kind of the same thing you're talking about But this is actually beneficial for like our safety as employees. Oh, yeah, I wish I had anything like that I get I get asked for my aha moments Yeah, yeah, tell me about the thing that you thought was life-altering and I'm like well after six years of the same meeting Three times a year. I don't know what to tell you anymore. I don't think you're reading these, because I've been sending you the same thing for three years.
Starting point is 01:17:35 And I'm going to send it again. I hope this email finds you before I do. Nice. I've been trying to work things like that into into work speech. What was the one I saw the other day? It was like, have or was it have a good day. Replace that with enjoy your next 24 hours. Because it just sounds so much more threatening and evil, but it's the same message. I think I texted Jen last week, the week before happy Friday.
Starting point is 01:18:09 And just cause she hates that, like that, that, that, you know, concept of Monday, all Morgan was having a nightmare of a Monday. Um, my son goes to soccer on Mondays and soccer's at 6 30 p.m. But his bedtime is 7 30 p.m. So naturally the ADHD kicks right in at 7 30 because we just got home and now it's time So she just texts him. She's like, I hate Mondays and I was like, okay Garfield You know, she didn't appreciate that joke Probably cuz she was going through a lot of shit at the moment but I thought that was hilarious. That's good. There are so many work conversations that revolve around Monday. It's just it is just mind-numbing so it's Tuesday. There's a whole case of them right?
Starting point is 01:18:56 Oh jeez. Yeah. It's Tuesday they're like oh it feels like Monday again and it's like, golly can we stop talking about Monday? Well, and in my job, Tuesday, Tuesday, Wednesday are my Saturday, Sunday. So my workday is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. So somebody's like, oh, enjoy your weekend. And I was like, I work retail, man. So I'm going to be here every day for the next weekend. All right. That was enough of a tangent there
Starting point is 01:19:28 So you Yeah Even down and some dare I say CrossFit ooh Wow, that was a big long one. I didn't read that essay Yeah, some of them are like I try to get in there and like break them up Yeah, there are multiple things but other times I don't get it It was a long Monday, so I didn't get a chance to do two things. Sorry. There's a lot of good content there I just got to sift through it. So under things they love, this might be the first
Starting point is 01:19:57 time I've ever seen this one listed, boots. You love boots? So like you love a cowboy boot? I mean you're an Oklahoman. So we're talking about them. Oh, yeah. They're just, yeah, we just call them boots. In South Carolina. That's what we call them. Yeah. No, it's kind of crazy. I had boot when I was a kid, I had boots and then I didn't wear them for the longest time. But then I started wearing not not cowboy boots, but just different kind of boots. And I thought, well, I don't, I kind of felt like a poser wearing cowboy boots,
Starting point is 01:20:28 but then I just thought, screw it, I love them. And so I bought some boots and I'm like, I guess I'll wear these on the weekend. And I thought, no, screw that. I'm gonna wear them to the office. So I wear my boots to the office every day. And I do, I love them, I love them. Are they comfortable?
Starting point is 01:20:46 I think I owned a pair of hand-me-down cowboy boots in middle school or something and wore them twice and I was like, I'm not this guy. But I just can't imagine, do you have to get them, are they at least, I mean, I have a wider foot too so I can't imagine putting my big ass wide foot in a skinny little boot. Yeah, I have wide feet too and it was really kind of
Starting point is 01:21:05 a juxtaposition because I've started trying to do the barefoot shoes for you know for for tennis shoes or whatever. They're about the polar opposite aren't they? Yeah they really are but if once you get them broken in they will uh they'll work around your foot there there are some growing pains there but eventually they'll they'll mold around your foot there. There are some growing pains there, but eventually they'll they'll mold to your foot and Yeah, you'll feel like You'll feel amazing wearing them after a while Nice. Yeah, I figured it was something there cuz I got things they love boots That's yeah, that's good stuff So he's mentioned multiple times so we got to talk about him. Let's hear about this this this this duty yours. Oh
Starting point is 01:21:52 Oh Man, so we've got this it's like a sub kind of doodle mix I got it for my neighbor that didn't want him anymore and His name's dude so he's like a you know 70 pound but he's like the best dog he's loyal he follows me around everywhere he gives hugs he's just the best dog I mean there's nothing I wouldn't do for this guy I know you guys are I think both of you guys are cat people. And I, you know, I respect that, but well, it's just hard to be walking in the door when I get home from work and a dude's ready there to give me a hug. It's amazing. Good stuff. Yeah. I normally
Starting point is 01:22:38 wouldn't maybe not bring that up specifically because like everyone's got their pets they love, but it's like, there's like four people that specifically said, dude. And then I was I figured there'd be a story with the name, but the fact that's a doodle, that makes more sense. That's like. Well, so what my neighbor had him, he had named him Snicker Doodle. And I just didn't really think that name is a bad name. If everybody could see the faces we all just made, we all three. It's a terrible name. Bad name if everybody could see the faces we all just made we all three Terrible name and so when we got him he was like maybe nine months old or something like that
Starting point is 01:23:13 So I wanted to name him something that was close to that. I didn't realize how smart those dogs were So I thought we'll name it something close to that So we just shortened it to dude because we thought that was a cool name anyway. Uh, and it still worked. And uh, yeah, it's been great. Was that one of those stories of I don't want no dog and now it's your favorite thing? No, no, no, but I was promised to have help with this dog for my kids. And that, yeah, it's kind of a solo mission taking care of this guy. That's why there's several reasons
Starting point is 01:23:46 I don't have a pet and one of them is like well, maybe we'll help. No, you won't right? I just like no you won't I know you won't and I will do everything and I will enjoy it But I don't want to do it. So yeah, no Yeah, you're right You can get a fish and when it dies, I get to flush it like that's that's the level of animal you're getting. Man, every time I scroll, I see this working out and making merch and I just keep thinking it says making out and I'm just like,
Starting point is 01:24:18 the fuck put that in there. It's like the third time I've done that now because I'm just scrolling past it. So you make your own merch or do you have it printed somewhere else? I Have it printed. I just I do you know, we kind of talked about a minute ago, but I love the stickers So I've got like five or six different stickers that I've made nothing fancy I'm not really that great at it. And then I had a couple I just put one of my What I like to do is I've had some hats made and I'll just give them to my friends So it's kind of cool. I've got one friend that he's always wearing his anchor barbell club hat
Starting point is 01:24:52 It's it's just really worn out and it's just cool to see somebody else wearing it Where did the name come from? Did we talk about that already? We did okay, you're bad Yeah, yeah, and somebody was in there. That's why it took extra long. So no Did did you see those rack badges that my buddy made? On a collab on an Instagram thing so nice. I think it's company's 922 So like he's like I think it's out of plastic, but then like he somehow engraves the plastic or some shit I don't know. I'm picking them up at home gym con, but they're gonna look pretty dope
Starting point is 01:25:24 So just something you're as someone who's coming to Home Gym Con, keep your eye out for little shit like that, of little tweaks you can add to your gym, and I don't know where you're at. I'm to the point now where it's like, how do I just make the gym more cool for me, just little logos here and there, and little gyms. And honestly, part of it's too, it's like,
Starting point is 01:25:41 what, I guess it's more in the back of my head of like, if Tanner and Tommy ever makes it out here Like I want to have a lot of cool shit that they comment on not just like oh, that's a gym Like I want to I want to have those little little details I'm like just you know extra motivation to keep fine-tuning stuff Yeah, you do reach to that point where you kind of have all the stuff like I saw you just bought a rower and But like I don't have so my gym is just half of my garage it's just I parked my truck outside so I have a you
Starting point is 01:26:11 know I've got it's it's got pretty okay pretty nice stuff in there but there's not a lot of room so I really can't add anything so it's the little touches like that that I'm really looking to do at this point is there's nothing else I can put in there. That's that's the problem a lot of us have for sure. I think this is not to derail. Everything is going amazing, but it is an hour and a half in. We've got to get to some games. Yeah, let's do it. All right. I'm so much stuff here we could talk about still.
Starting point is 01:26:43 I'm actually going to add some of to unfaith and underrated while yeah Yeah, you do that. I'll do FMK. So I am gonna We're gonna do a little wrestle in FMK here. What ready for that? No, cuz it's it's under it's for me Let's go we're gonna go this is gonna be My era of wrestling I think it said you were, you were the, it seemed like you were a fan of the Monday Night Wars. So to my knowledge these are gonna be the three popular stables from that era. So you're gonna FMK these three stables. I'm still on the fence of which, so we're
Starting point is 01:27:22 obviously gonna go NWO and DX and the third one I'm gonna throw outables. I'm still on the fence of which so we're obviously gonna go nwo and dx And the third one i'm gonna throw out there I'll let joey pick between the heart family or the four horsemen You can't do the four horsemen because there's like four different eras of the four horsemen. Okay, so then the heart family Yeah, if you're gonna go if you're gonna go strictly from the golden era as we call it Well, no, the heart family of that like 95 the 2000 of those are from the golden era as we call it well no dear family of that like 95 Those are in the same error. Sorry NWO and DX were 1 million percent in the same yeah, but the heart family was definitely I know but I don't I don't I didn't have another one from that era that come on you could go
Starting point is 01:27:57 Okay, you can do the LWO you could do evolution you could do Will you yeah do evolution. You could do. Will you? Yeah, do evolution. Sure. Well, that's good, because I thought, am I really about to? I'm not never. I'm not going to make that joke. Oh, I'm going to kill Owen. I'm not really going to kill Owen Hart. I mean, that is Owen.
Starting point is 01:28:20 Owen was in the nation. So you could do the nation as well. Oh, that would have been a better one. The the nation, the nation of do the nation as well. Oh, that would have been a better one. The nation of domination. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:28:31 Throw that. We'll do nation of domination instead of evolution. Okay. Yeah. I don't know. I have no clue what evolution is. Yes. Nation of domination.
Starting point is 01:28:39 Well, this is very tough, but I think the only thing you could do with DX is F them. I mean, it just wouldn't make sense to do anything else with, with DX. Uh, I mean, when suck it is your tagline, uh, you know, it kind of leads, leads you there. So we'll FDX. Look, it's one of the most iconic logos and professional wrestling history. It still, uh, holds, I think he got to marry the NWO. Plus, you get a huge family. They never stopped adding people to the NWO to the point where everything was an NWO. Yeah, everything was it.
Starting point is 01:29:13 They had their own pay-per-view. Yeah, they were. So yeah, yeah. So I hate to do it. I mean, I got to kill the nation, but man, that that is a tough one. But I think it was kind of categorized for me. I don't think I had another way to go with that. My little girl finally learned this.
Starting point is 01:29:33 He struggled so hard because like, like me, my wife and my son do this all the time. We too sweet. And she just, daddy, I can't daddy. I can't. And then one day I think I forget we were out and she goes like this And then the all four of us like did the two suites For me it was the best for them. They're just like daddy's having fun, and I was like I love you guys so much This was a moment yeah
Starting point is 01:30:02 Alright, I guess we're gonna mount rush more this up then Mount rush more of metal bands you don't listen to anymore. Oh wow. Metal bands I don't listen to anymore. Metallica. Oh dude, this is a great question. I know. It said that you used, because you were in a metal band.
Starting point is 01:30:26 So you used to listen to punk and metal, but now you've kind of gone away from that to singer songwriter in country. So I was like, well, oh, wow. Let's hit him with a left jab. Oh, that's a great one. Great question. So I got to go. I never I used to listen to Metallica all the time. I don't I couldn't tell you the last time I intentionally listened to Metallica. I would put, man, and they're a great band, but there's this band called Living Sacrifice.
Starting point is 01:30:54 They were a metal band that was pretty big when I was in high school. I just don't listen to them. I guess that's the point of the question. So living sacrifice I'm just gonna throw something out there There's a band called Norma Jean. Have you ever heard of them Joey? Yes, I have Okay, I do love Norma Jean and I would tell you if you asked me that I love them But I don't really listen to them
Starting point is 01:31:22 I mean just the odd song on the workout playlist, but I would tell you that I love them, but I don't really listen to them. I mean, just the odd song on the workout playlist, but I would tell you that I love them, but I don't really listen to them that much. And, um, is, uh, would you call faith no more a metal band? Yes, especially on some of the later albums. Okay. Then I'll say faith no more. Yeah. That I love Mike Pat.
Starting point is 01:31:44 I mean, that No More. Yeah. That I love Mike Patton. I mean, that's a tough question because if you I would say I wouldn't say I love Metallica. I would not say that. But I would say I love the other bands, but I just don't. I'll tell you what I will. I'll trade. Would you call Tomahawk a metal band? Because I probably listen to Tomahawk more than Faith No More and as Mike Patton. Tommy Tomahawk D. You know what? Yeah. Okay, New Mount Rushmore. Mike Patton bands. Oh, like I can't do that. I'm tapped out already. Yeah, no, no, you're already over my head. So we'll just leave it at that. Yeah, no Tomahawk.
Starting point is 01:32:18 Have I ever told the story of the first time I saw Tomahawk? Maybe. So they were opening for Tool here in Hamilton and at the time I saw Tomahawk. Maybe. So they were opening for Tool here in Hamilton. And at the time, I only knew them as Mike Patton's, the singer from Faith No More. And then I was like, I don't care. Every opening band I've ever seen for Tool sucks. Right? Like I remember Meshuggah opened and I hated it. Right? And so I was like, I don't even care, but I'm going to go and check it out. cool. Faith no more was dope. And it turns out later, I knew the guy, but there was a guy in the front row. And if your kids are listening to this, you can tell them to earmuffs this part. He yells, we want tool. Get off the stage. And Mike Patton goes, I
Starting point is 01:33:03 got a tool for you right here and yes he did oh wow and then and then they actually came out during I think it was right in two so they came out and played some side drums Mike Patton and the drummer from Tomahawk and I was was like, first of all, that was chaotic and amazing. I wonder if it sounds as good on album. They actually sound better on their album than they do live in most scenarios. So I fell in love with Tomahawk then and that started my Mike Patton spiral. And now that it's like, I listen to Probably tomahawk the most fantome was a close second Lovage is on there. Did you ever hear the Lovage album? No. Mm-hmm. So that one is called
Starting point is 01:33:54 Music to make love to your old lady by and it's by Nathaniel Merriweather and It's him in this Quebec French girl singing Just like the sexiest like laid back jazz. But it's Mike Patton, so it's still a little weird. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah, interesting. I definitely Mike Patton spiral that some point in my life. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:21 Anyway, you passed. Matt Rushmore. Thanks. You did a good. You did a good. You did a good. Uh huh. Um, well, I get, we always got to do it. When it's self submitted like that.
Starting point is 01:34:36 You said you got a poop story, it sounds like. So and maybe two of them. Well, one leads into the other. So I'll try. I know we're kind of well With a long period of time. Yeah, we're not short on time. We're not So I I don't poop in public I I'm not a public pooper How's that work when you fucking travel for a living dude?
Starting point is 01:35:06 Dude, I my body knows my body knows I'm on the road and it is a hotel public. Okay Now wait to the hotel room then. Yeah, it's a hotel room. That's fair Yeah, just not shit for a week. Yeah, no but when I was a kid, so growing up in Oklahoma, you have tornado drills and So one day I was just I was in a bad spot and And so I was like, I'm going to have to go. I was at school. I was like in second or third grade. And I kid you not, the second that I shut the door on that stall. And anyways, tornado drill.
Starting point is 01:35:37 So I am mid poop tornado drill. And I really believe that's what scarred me for the rest of my life. I was scared out of my mind. I didn't know it was a drill. I thought it was a real tornado. And so anyways, fast forward, now I'm an adult and I've still been a non-public pooper my entire life. And I'm not sure what happened, but man, I was in a bad spot at work and it was like in the morning and I lived about 45 minutes from my office and so I knew I was just gonna have to tough it out all day and so I did and to think about my commute was there was no real great place to stop between my office and my house. So, but like there's these little markers, you know, you drive the same route every day.
Starting point is 01:36:29 You're like, OK, I'm 10 minutes from this. I'm 10 minutes from the next thing. And so I make it about 20 minutes. I'm like, OK, I'm 20 minutes from home. And I mean, I'm hurting. It is danger zone. And I make it another 10 minutes. And I know there is a nasty gas station at the bottom
Starting point is 01:36:52 of this hill. And it occurs to me that I'm not going to make it home. I am going to have to stop is an emergency. So at the time, it was like a business casual thing. I'm wearing like a, you know, long sleeve dress shirt, tucked into a khakis or whatever, and I'm struggling. And I whip, I whip into the parking lot and I just bolt to the most disgusting bathroom I've ever seen and do my deal. And it's bad. It is very, very bad.
Starting point is 01:37:23 Whatever you think is bad. I would just multiply that by 10. And, um, as I'm sitting there, uh, my worst nightmare happens. Uh, a guy opens the door in my, in my haste, I had forgotten to lock the door. So, uh, I'm sitting there, the door flies open and I look at this guy and we're making eye contact and he has just walked right into a war zone and he had this look of confusion and disgust and I have a look of desperation and we lock eyes for like three seconds and I just go, I'm going to need a minute, man.
Starting point is 01:38:03 He just turns around and shuts the door. Yeah, that was my main one. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Oh. That's great. Yeah, there's, I don't know if you can do a causal relationship, but there's a correlation to definitely a tornado drill.
Starting point is 01:38:24 Oh man, I was listening to that one podcast, the Magnus Archives. It's a horror podcast and there was an entire thing about the Oklahoma dust storms. And yeah, and about how like so many people died, like when they were founding Oklahoma and Idaho That just like the dust storms were so bad so I can see Whoo, anyway, yep. Yep Anyway Anything else we want to hit on before we move into FMK anything else jumping out at you funny or embarrassing or? Additional I added as much as I could to not FMK done paid and underrated No, yeah her too, and then you honestly you could pick any of these
Starting point is 01:39:12 Yeah, I I threw a couple on the top that I'm gonna go through so that we missed I kind of felt like I once I scrolled down. I was like oh shit. There was a lot more There was better FMK as I should have done that I would have liked better so like, oh shit, there was a lot more, there was better FMKs I should have done that I would have liked better. So, but I'll kind of incorporate that here. So, big Jakey. So, unpaid or underrated. So, any of your friends listening to this for the first time, they might not be familiar with unpaid or underrated. It is. So, we're gonna give you six to nine, you know, handpicked topics just for you and you're gonna go through and you're gonna use your druthers and you're gonna try to decide
Starting point is 01:39:42 if this particular topic is unpaid meaning not so great because no one wants to be unpaid or it's underrated so pretty cool so I'm gonna hit you off here unpaid or underrated Nicholas Cage oh oh that's a good one I'm still gonna go underrated on Nicolas Cage's turned into a meme and I understand why. But you know, you talk about leaving Las Vegas. I don't know if you guys have seen that movie or not. He's fantastic in that movie. I don't know if you saw Pig was another one he did.
Starting point is 01:40:19 The guy can still act even though he's become a meme and I get all the reasons why I'm still going under. Nice. Pig was so marketed as like an action John Wick style movie and it was none of that. No, I still enjoyed the heck out of it. Yeah, I've sort of watched that think i've heard people talk about this movie is just joey but that's not what i've consumed i'm unpaid or underrated. Twenty five k mountain runs your bikes what is what what even what are you doing up there on the mountain. I did so we were in oklahoma there's this big it's a it's a mountain run it's a twenty five k up and back on a mountain. I'm definitely going unpaid on that Um, I did it. It's probably my proudest athletic achievement i've ever done But it was a total nightmare the day they weren't calling for snow and ice the night before the race
Starting point is 01:41:19 It snowed all night long Which was a big deal to me. I hated it. I had just kind of gotten into running. So my shoes that I was wearing were just generic Nike trainers that I'd worn in the gym for three years. They weren't boots. Totally slick. No, no, I mean, they're broken in already. You said so.
Starting point is 01:41:38 Yeah. Yeah. I should have wore boots unpaid, unpaid. All right. Good answers. Um, unpaid or underrated tennis trading card investments. What the hell are those? Unpaid.
Starting point is 01:41:54 So during the COVID boom, another hobby that blew up was trading cards. And I've got a buddy that does football cards, buys and sells football cards. Well, he got a tip on a guy had purchased this Serena Williams rookie card on eBay for $14,000. And so he and I, he said, man, we've got an opportunity. We could buy a lot of these cards
Starting point is 01:42:20 and see what we can do to flip them. And sure, why not? So we invested a few hundred dollars a piece and I don't know what happened in the few weeks from when that one card sold for fourteen thousand dollars and then the time we listed ours and you couldn't get a hundred dollars a piece for them but it was real and that was a total loop. Literally. I'm not yeah we are unpaid. I told them to hang. I'm just in case we are literally unpaid. Uh, I'm going to do a rare fourth one here for me.
Starting point is 01:42:49 Um, unpaid or underrated Jason white, Oklahoma quarterback, Jason white. Underrated underrated guy. Uh, injuries got him. Heisman trophy winner. Uh, man, if he was healthy, OU wins a national championship in 2003 against LSU. Underrated. Couldn't say enough good things about him. Nick, excuse me, did the Henny lead them to the 14-0 season the year before or something
Starting point is 01:43:15 right? Or was that? Yeah. I remember when I was in high school, somewhere between 2000 and 2003, they had a 14-0 season because that was the year that my team went 14 and oh and won the championship Yeah, that was Josh Heiple who's actually from South Dakota. Yeah And then Jason White was right after that. Yeah, he was in the mix after that, but he had two catastrophic It was so yeah and put together a Heisman season, which is crazy and then like just did nothing in the NFL
Starting point is 01:43:42 There's as so many do or don't do. All right. Well, you passed my section. Okay. I already covered one of those unpaid or underrated permed mullets. Oh my gosh. Who in the world? I just had to be my sister.
Starting point is 01:44:02 Um, yeah, I got to go unpaid on that. I don't know what in the world. I, this had to be my sister. Um, yeah, I, I got to go unpaid on that. I don't know what in the world I was thinking. I was like, uh, seven years old and, uh, I had, I cannot believe this story. I had a, just a little mullet and, uh, I told my mom, I was like, man, I think it would look cool if it was a curlier than this. And she said said we can you can do that I said really she said yeah you can get it permed and I said cool let's do it so we did it and there's one regrettable photo out there somewhere I cannot believe oh I was
Starting point is 01:44:35 hoping you would have that photo my mom probably does hanging up I'm sure in her house um we should get that photo for the thumbnail. Just put a mass and I'll make sure it on perm bullet. Seven year old. Unpaid. Uh, all right. Uh, unpaid or underrated the big leg drop. Well, you got to go unpaid. I don't know how you could possibly call it underrated.
Starting point is 01:45:04 It's one of the worst finishing moves in professional sports entertainment history. It is iconic. You can't argue that's iconic. But so is the people's elbow and it's literally an elbow. Yeah, but it's so much cooler than the big leg drop at the same time. Yeah, I I think you got to go unpaid on the big leg drop. Sorry Hulk. Yeah Unpaid or underrated Jorts. Oh Well, you already know the answer to this they're underrated and they're just there's no there's no two ways around it They're there is underrated as it gets. Do you baggy. Or do you like the primal ones? Not like the primal ones. That's that's the that's the fit for squat day, man. It's crazy. They're perfect for squatting
Starting point is 01:45:51 They're perfect for deadlifting Man, yeah underrated is it get yeah, I can't wait to get mine back out. I Might do two more Because I'm ready unpaid or underrated the running of the bulls. Oh more. Because I'm ready. Unpaid or underrated the running of the bulls? Oh, underrated. The running of the bulls was so much fun. It was me and three guys and we would do these. I enjoy soccer a lot. And we would do these trips to Dallas. So where I lived in Oklahoma, Dallas was like four hours away, but they had a professional soccer. And, uh, we'd go to Dallas for a weekend. We would, uh, watch a match and then we'd go to, uh, there's an art house movie theater that we would go to and watch as many movies as possible. So I was a blast is absolute blast underrated.
Starting point is 01:46:39 That does sound awesome. Yeah, it was fun beer. I mean, it was food. You couldn't have. Okay. We're going through these hot. You couldn't have. Okay. We're going through these hot. So I might have two more. Three spots left.
Starting point is 01:46:51 Just like shirts, people going to go by them. Unpaid or underrated the fretless base. Well, I think you have to say, um, I think you have to say underrated, uh, because I think you have to say underrated because I've never played one, but I've never played one. You know what I mean? Like it's never been. And man, the times I've tried to play one, I by no means an excellent base player, but it was like the hardest thing that I had done.
Starting point is 01:47:22 So I think you have to go underrated on that and tip of the cap to anybody that can do it one of the hardest yes and that's also the announcement that you are base crew now yeah I wondered if that might come up I was gonna snuck I was gonna sneak it in at some point I have to yeah isn't that weird how many bass players there are that have even on the show? Yeah, I don't think it is that weird because Like let's put this as bluntly as possible. We are a bunch of fucking nerds and The bass is a very very nerdy
Starting point is 01:48:01 Instrument to play no no no like that was the only thing I ever wanted to learn how to play Because it was just like like I get to keep tempo and still look cool Are you marking down swear words for when your kids listen no no no okay? Because like I'm sorry I tried not to swear that much. No, no, you're... This is my last one, unpaid or underrated, the Sooners. Well, yeah, I mean... Oh.
Starting point is 01:48:34 Well, this is where you're gonna get me. Because it's not my affinity for the... It's... Well, I'll tell you what, based off last season, I got to go unpaid. Uh, they just not living up to the reputation. Um, they, it's an iconic brand. It's an iconic team and school. Uh, but they have not succeeded, especially on the football field in several years. Uh, sadly with great remorse and regret that my sooners are So, World Tide?
Starting point is 01:49:10 I'm not really an NASCAR guy. Kind of all been downhill since, well, you had your Stoops retired what like seven or eight years ago and then you had the Lincoln rally was in there doing good and then dipped on you guys and took your quarterback and I mean I couldn couldn't tell you who your coach is now has there been has there been just the one coach since Lincoln left yeah it's uh Brent Venables so he actually was a coordinator for us uh defensive coordinator that we fired uh several years ago and uh hired him back as head as head coach it's not gone well yeah how could that go wrong? Yeah Hard to imagine Well, I think if you pass the grilling probably the most grilling unpaid and underrated because I just had so many And I had I had almost all the Easter eggs I could find in all of those So congratulations you passed
Starting point is 01:50:01 thank Was like the ones that lead to a story. Well well done. Well this is kind of where we let you take over. You got anything for us big dog? I actually had a couple questions for you. And it's kind of funny because when I knew I was coming on I was trying to do the FMK thing or the Mount Rushmore thing and it was almost like I kept
Starting point is 01:50:27 just thinking about stuff that you guys have talked about on the show. And so since I don't really know you outside of the show, it kind of wound up being, okay, this is going to be the same conversation they've had a bunch of other times. But it did make me curious. Do you have any interests or lobbies that you like to do that you've not yet discussed on the show? Probably not, not in two years, I don't know. No. I'm an open book. Yeah, like I'm pretty busy. Yeah. I don't I don't have the time That was that was that was a big Keith here. Yeah. Yeah Keith here by the way
Starting point is 01:51:19 Geez no, I work I I don't even watch wrestling that much anymore. I watch a lot of lately Like movies are a big one for me. I just don't have a website dedicated to it Because I just don't track them and sometimes I watch the same movie and I'll sit here through the whole thing being like Why is this so familiar? What's cuz I watched it ten years ago. Well, yeah, that's why you got a rated online No, you're right. I should be keeping track. I've been watching a lot of very good and very bad action movies lately No, I don't I really don't think I have anything that I've never really, like birds, right? Like everybody pretty much knows. And by the time
Starting point is 01:51:53 I like I'm 40, I don't have the time to find new things. Yeah, I checked today. I've logged 141 hours on Assassin's Creed shadow So were you into birds before I know that there's the app were you into birds before the app I was actually telling somebody this story And it was with I was with an ex at the time and we were driving and the thing is like when I'm driving I'm always looking at everything, right? That's one of the things that makes me a good driver. And as I was teaching my wife to drive, congratulations Morgan, by the way,
Starting point is 01:52:30 she finally passed her driving test and can drive alone now. So congratulations to her. And I said, one of the things that makes me a good driver is my anxiety. I essentially be like anxiety has two sides to it. Everything's a threat, but then you become Jason Bourne because everything's a threat But I'm always looking at birds and I was driving with my ex and this is going back probably
Starting point is 01:52:52 Probably 12 years ago and I we were just driving and I was casually like oh, that's a red-tailed hawk Oh, that's a that oh, that's a that and she just went can you just admit you're a bird guy? and I was like, that's a thing? She's like, yes, yes, there's lots of people who are really into birds and you seem to be able to identify them by sight. You might just be a bird guy. So that's all the way going back there. And then finding the Merlin bird app was just like doubling down.
Starting point is 01:53:24 Because now when I can't see it, I can hear it, but I can now see what it is. Didn't the dad in Beetlejuice, that was his thing, he wanted to be his hobby when he was a bird watcher. He wanted to watch birds. He just wanted to watch birds. I don't want to watch birds. I want to find birds by accident. The idea of sitting still and just hoping
Starting point is 01:53:47 Have you seen those? It probably wouldn't be over your alley, but like the hummingbird Mask so I think it was like a shark tank thing So like yeah You basically it's like a face shield with like a hummingbird thing right on it like a hummingbird feeder on a face shield So you can actually get hummingbirds to like land on your face But as we learned from Cody don't do that Yeah, because the hummingbirds He was saying that they they they use the same feeding habits
Starting point is 01:54:13 So if there's a feeder there and then it's not there. They'll die Waiting for that feeder to be there. So like don't do that to hummingbirds feeder to be there. So like, don't do that to hummingbirds. And you know, then it leads to conservation and blah, blah, blah, blah. Like it just is one of those long, unfortunate long rabbit holes where suddenly now I'm very cognizant of the trees and flowers in my yard because now I need to know which ones attract and help maintain birds and butterflies. Butterflies is the next step, but I don't like bugs.
Starting point is 01:54:49 Is there an app for that? There's got to be a butterfly app. It's probably like honestly chat GPT you can take a picture and it'll identify things. Yeah, there you go. Okay, so we're, I'm going to make an assumption here we're all masters athletes I imagine that we probably had several jobs over the years what is the most unpaid job that you've ever had. Probably when I first moved to New York I was a few shitty ones up here but what I can think of the most of his frame and houses for like I I don't know, three or four months. I think I started in the summer, maybe it was set up to six months. And I'm like expecting to get laid off in the winter and, you know, just be like, figure out, oh, I'll get laid off and it's going to be fucking shitty for like three months. It's going to be unbearable outside and, you know, get unemployment or something. And the guys were just like, yeah, we don't lay people off. We just work all
Starting point is 01:55:43 winter. I'm like, fuck that noise. So I'm not working outside 24 seven. Like I remember just like the first couple of days of like 15 degree temperatures and just trying to be outside for 10 hours a day. I was like, yeah, this ain't for me. I just never went back. I mean, I've had like a lot of shitty construction jobs, but like not having a way to like get warm at all.
Starting point is 01:56:03 I mean, like the, yeah, go sit in your car for 20 minutes And like maybe it'll warm up by the time your breaks over and it's like I can't do that My circulation of my hands and feet get it's too shitty like it's always been I'm never no matter what body weight I've been I've always had like shitty circulation my hands and feet So they get cold fucking quick. So yeah have basically any job that required me to be outside 24-7 But that particular was a really shitty job because I just does your really shitty company I don't even think I have it on my resume I know I don't I have several years where there's just like, you know side jobs only kind of thing
Starting point is 01:56:36 Probably bartending or anything related to bartend and that's just gonna come down to just the people And and I would say that every job I've ever had, the job itself wasn't the problem. It was the people there. And, you know, we look back and you, like I've always said, you don't remember things. You remember how you felt about them. The job itself, even the job where I was literally shoveling paint out of a car part paint factory, the job itself was fine. Just some of a car part paint factory. The job itself was fine. Just some of the people made it hard.
Starting point is 01:57:10 That was actually me and Steve, Big Steve, we worked that job together for years. And it was a great job. Like it was nights and I was 20 and it paid well, but it was just some of the people made it hard. I think the only time I would say that I didn't like the people or the job, it was bartending. Yeah, every bad thing that could ever happen happens after 12 o'clock at a bar. Well, the people there, yeah, I mean, if you're there after probably been over-served, you're just trying to work, probably get things cleaned up to try to get around and go on.
Starting point is 01:57:51 Yep. Okay, I'll close with this one. We talked about, you know, we kind of mentioned that mountain run that I did, and while it was unpaid, I really was proud of the fact that I did it because I put a lot of work into training for it because I knew it was going to be very very challenging. Of all the you know of the things I've done athletically it's probably the thing I'm proudest of but I was just curious what your guys proudest athletic achievement is whether it's a lift or even something you did as a, as a kid, or maybe the fact that first time you went and competed, just the fact that you did it
Starting point is 01:58:29 is everything that comes to mind for that. As far as like my youth, like I, I never, uh, I never started in football, which always kind of sucked. We had a huge team and we were, you know, but we won two state championships at the time. We had two undefeated state championship teams at the time we were there. And granted, I wasn't, you know, I was, you know, set second won two state championships the time. We had two undefeated state championship teams the time we were there. And granted, I wasn't, you know, I was, you know,
Starting point is 01:58:47 second team and special team all-star, you know, if you will, which doesn't really mean jack shit, but like being on a team that went undefeated, you know, freshman and senior, freshman and junior year, I was just like, that was awesome. Like that was, like, I used to have so many people that like are stellar athletes
Starting point is 01:59:02 and played on the shittiest teams ever. And like, don't even know, don't even know don't even know What it's like to make the playoffs or something, you know It's like or you know never win more than a couple games I just feel bad for those guys and I was lucky to have done that as a youth And I think I meant we may have had something similar to this earlier in the past I think my answer was basically just being self-aware enough that I was completely burnt out on powerlifting and I needed something else in my life or I might have walked away from a barbell and
Starting point is 01:59:29 You know finding strong man and kind of even though I still did a powerlifting meet this year just adding that whole Like I could do 50% of my year and do something completely different or more if I want to and you know Just being old enough to be like I needed a little bit more if I want to and, you know, just being old enough to be like, I need to a little bit. Basically the fact that I was willing to change is an accomplishment, athletic or not in my life. Cause that is something I am not. No change. No. Exactly. So yeah, those are mine. That's cool. I would say just getting back, getting in shape at all. You know, I've talked about it before. I did not have a good relationship with fitness, you know, through my youth, despite, you know, the job I just mentioned kept you in good shape.
Starting point is 02:00:13 Right? The job I had after that, that was a warehouse job, kept me in great shape. I was just naturally strong and naturally, you know, and then letting it go for so many years. really strong and naturally, you know, and then letting it go for so many years. And then I think I said before, struggling to squeeze a lemon into a recipe was like, what did me in? And then I was like, really? Like, really, you used to do this stuff, and you're squeezing a lemon and it's not going. So just like even starting anything, which I did the same thing, did the circuits, did the 531, then found powerlifting, now I'm in a strongman and sticking to it. I wouldn't say I'm as consistent as somebody who is competing or on a program.
Starting point is 02:01:04 I'm on a four day a week cycle, but I'm not doing every second day. I might do two in two days, not do anything for two days, do another two in two days, but I'm still doing four days every seven days. If you had asked me 10 years ago, I would be like, I'm not doing that shit. And now it's like, if I don't do that shit, I feel like I let myself down.
Starting point is 02:01:27 So, you know, that gradual, gradual self-awareness to the point where I don't want to be. I've said it before. You ain't getting a call from me to get help off the toilet. And that's all I want. That's cool. Being able to, you know, pick up. I can pick up anybody in this house if they fall down. Right. Like that kind of thing.
Starting point is 02:01:53 Is that toilet going to be in a locked or an unlocked gas station bathroom? Yeah, we don't lock bathrooms in Canada. Is that a thing down there? You don't have bathrooms. You have powder. We have washrooms. Her, too. I don't have bathrooms you have powder we have washrooms her too I don't It's been a minute since you said either so it's kind of like I've never said powder room well the fuck in reference to What do you wait so do you guys have washrooms or bathrooms?
Starting point is 02:02:19 Okay, yeah, so it's like old old talkie. Yeah, yeah up here We would say washroom in that Tom Green song he says in Detroit in a bathroom I Use the bathroom in Detroit and then use the washroom in Windsor. No, that's actually a Yep Little Tom Green did he have like a talk show? Last thing he did I have talked about it so many times He bought a farm he
Starting point is 02:02:49 Like weeks ago as he released a country album, it's great Okay. Yes, and now he's touring He's got to be like so we're 40 and he was like at least 10 or 15 years older than us as kids So he's like close to 60. So the one song he's got is it's called I'm a Canadian and it's a song about being Canadian explaining it to Americans. And then I was playing it one day and everybody was like, hey, this is really good. And I was like, yeah, it's Tom Green. And nobody knew who Tom Green was.
Starting point is 02:03:27 It's only 53. And I was like, wait, like you grew up in Ontario and you don't know who Tom Green is? Like he was the original jackass. Like he was the original, like he spray painted his dad's car as the slut mobile and put lesbians on it. Like you don't know this. and it's amazing how many people don't know.
Starting point is 02:03:50 And there's even, and I'm sure some of you guys don't even know that that's where he started. But he started as this prank show. One day he sat out in the corner, cause I think he was from the Ottawa area and he had a catheter, which is Keith's favorite thing. Where's big Jake? And he just sat on the corner and he said, I'm going to drink this entire like six liter
Starting point is 02:04:13 jug of water. You know, the ones that you put in water and watering things, water things. What do you call it? Oh yeah. Water dispenser, water cooler. Yeah. The big jug. Yeah. He's like, I'm going to drink one of these and then I'm going to pee it out all while standing here for the next like eight hours. But he did such dumb stuff. And now he's like writing incredible Canadian country songs. He's got a podcast.
Starting point is 02:04:41 I think he actually. Interviews conspiracy theorists, or at least he interviewed one conspiracy theorist, but he has a podcast that he records in his barn, which I haven't listened to because I can't listen to this many podcasts, lest I become podcast guy. Workout podcast guy. Oh no, you can't do that. Do you do that? Workout podcast guy. Oh no. Can't do that. You do.
Starting point is 02:05:06 Do you do that? No, I have. I have. Listen to the bro podcasts. If you can't run a five minute six K you're out of shape. Shut up. Shut up. I deadlift your total.
Starting point is 02:05:22 Shut up. Listen to these guys. Yeah, what's the joke now? Tariffs on podcast equipment? Is that right? Is that all you got? That's all I got, man. No, they're great. We'll call it there.
Starting point is 02:05:44 I was happy with it. We're sorry we didn't get to, we're sorry if we did not get through all of the, that is kind of the, the double-edged sword sometimes. And we get so much information that it's just kind of like, I can't, we can't have a seven hour podcast. So kind of is what it is. So any, any of your friends and family listening that did, you know did submit very in-depth answers, really appreciate you guys.
Starting point is 02:06:07 Thank you very much. Sorry if we didn't get to your answer to the two people in the interview that covered both of those. So appreciate you. And yeah, we got some affiliate codes that you guys like to use. Help us out here. Get Tom one step closer to his speedboat. Obsidian Ammonia. They definitely have some
Starting point is 02:06:25 stuff that hits hard. Just ask several people that were around my new bottle this week. Barbell Rescue. Yeah, so you get to meet Kim firsthand this weekend and if you don't have a Barbell Rescue brush already, you freaking better walk out with one. There we go. Plates next he was supposed to be at home gym con but I think he had to pull out but still making all those stickers
Starting point is 02:06:57 for Jake and his mystery you know thing that Joey knows all about. Home gym con itself code unpaid get some tickets if you haven't yet. Anyone in the Louisville area, hopefully you use code unpaid to buy your tickets. Big Jake. Belt Fed Strength, Big Chris out there. Well, I think all our affiliates are going to be at Home Gym Con damn near. So, that's pretty cool. Freedom Fitness Equipment, we can see you this weekend at Ashton.

And big Jake, one more time for the listeners. Where are they going to go stock yet on the old Instagrams? Jakey 121. Perfect. Where are you at Joey? At joey underscore Malesco M-L-E-C-Z-K-O for the next time you have to hold the plane for me
Starting point is 02:07:46 Yep, Instagram. We are unpaid and underrated podcast. We got the website unpaid in her podcast comm go Race somebody for the first YouTube comment. I'm Keith honey Get 73 on Instagram more importantly go follow my orange Jim the no wine seller and until then we'll see you next Tuesday and seller and until then we'll see you next Tuesday. And sending that to Nate directly saves everyone time because Nate doesn't have to tell us that it's not high enough bit rate and blur, blur, blur. Love you. Love you, Nate. Yep.
Starting point is 02:08:19 Despite you hijacking the first half of this podcast. Yeah, that's hysterical. I then that sucks. That wasn't on recorded because that would have been funny. I couldn't. No. Like as soon as he joined, I think Jake was here and I was like, why did I just join? Cause it came up as unpaid intern.
Starting point is 02:08:36 And I was like, that's Nate's kid. Why is Nate just showing me his kid? And is that the kid that just had surgery? So I was like, Hey like hey buddy like how are you is everything like is everything okay there and then I hear Nate talking and I'm going okay Nate's trying to get him to talk to us like Nate's doing a bit and then it's like did you join Joey's zoom thing? That's funny. That was good I really wish that had been recorded. That's funny.
Starting point is 02:09:03 That was good. I really wish that had been recorded. There he is. Hey dude, dude, dude, dude. Hey buddy. Hey dude. Hey dude. Oh, good looking puppers. As much as I just got a haircut too.
Starting point is 02:09:17 Um, I am very much also a dog person. I just don't want one. So I really love other people's dogs. If that makes sense. Yeah. Like we like we have actually our thinking next door neighbor has a labradoodle yeah so cute he looks like Prince of Leia with his freaking his hair his ears he's a good-looking boy yeah he just I had to get his haircut a couple of days ago and I felt terrible the the groomer Politely chastised me for the length of his hair
Starting point is 02:09:50 She's like do you want to go ahead and schedule his next one because this was pretty challenging to do so First of all, how dare you second of all? Yes You're getting charged more now, sir. Like you. I bet they do. I mean, they almost have to have something like that. Yeah. It's like, yeah, if it takes more than the 20 minutes that it should, like that's another
Starting point is 02:10:13 bill for you, bud. Yeah, they did. I still tipped her though. You know, I felt terrible. Yeah, I felt terrible. I knew it was going to be bad. I expected to get in trouble. Have you as a listener of our podcast, have you been enjoying the pre and post shows that Nate's been actually clicking in there a
Starting point is 02:10:30 Little bit because I feel some of that's like our realist I mean not that we're not gents sincere the whole time but like I don't know I feel like some of our best singers are in there Yeah, no, it's great. And then Joey was it last week where you did your impression No, cuz I doubt I didn't get I didn't see enough like somebody messaged me no no like mofo said it He's like Joey's impressions had me dying and I was like you're the first person to bring those up Those are 100% me literally just sitting here by myself. I'm like, oh shit I recorded too early and then all improv like that was 100% me literally just sitting here by myself going like, oh shit, I recorded too early.
Starting point is 02:11:05 And then like that's all improv. Like that was 100% improv. I feel like it was like, it was like a solid minute to, or at least 45 seconds that he kept in there. Oh no, cause it was cause Jenna Lee got on and then she was like, what about your tits or something like that? Oh, I was like, I was like, how long were you listening? She's like, I heard something about your tits.
Starting point is 02:11:24 Yeah, that was great. That? She's like, I heard something about your tits. That was great. That, that, that, that was, yeah. The pre post is gold. Hong Hong.
