And welcome back to episode 178 of the unpaid under under, ah, fuck.
Now Nate's going to leave this in because he did it to Brandon last week.
So Nate, this is when you can start recording, but I'm sure you're going to leave this all in.
So let's try this again.
And welcome back.
Oh, God, that's two in a row.
What the fuck?
Brandon, you just give me the yips.
No, I'm just going to end.
I might just fucking delete this goddamn segment.
Okay.
Well, it's because in my head, I'm like, wait, is it 170?
because I was like, I was looking at it.
Did I change the number?
Let me scroll down to last week, so make sure that was...
We can try it again next week.
Yeah, yeah.
I'll be right.
Yeah.
This is all going to be left in.
I'll be so mad at him.
All right.
Three, two.
And welcome back to episode 178 of the unpaid and unreaded podcast.
A podcast by Crew for Crew.
I'm one of your host, Big Keith.
Join this week by Big Lorne.
Hello.
And our guest this week is Big Matt LaFlem, LaBlanca,
a.k.a. I didn't say that
right. No, you crushed it.
Did I really? And then also... No.
No. Black cat power? Black cat iron? Black cat?
What's... Black cat lifting club?
There you go. So big...
What is this? What is the Spanish word I didn't get right?
La Flama Blanco.
Oh, yeah, I would have never... You could have given me a million try.
I'm taught. A million attempts. I would have never said LaFlimm.
Any guesses? Any guesses of what it means?
the hot
cat
the hot black cat
the black cat
the black cat
that's my new gym name
I don't know I'm sorry
I failed Spanish as a sophomore in high school
it's pretty impressive
I think you I almost went against
everything that it actually means
okay
what is it then
do you want to tell him big Matt
someone in late yeah yeah so it's
the white flame
oh yeah it was way off
yeah not even close
to reference to eastbound and down if you've ever seen that
yeah it's oh yeah it's been a decade ago
that probably was a decade ago wouldn't that show is pretty old
we're getting pretty old the show
stayed the same age we're just getting older
all right well that's a
little egg on my face there but that's okay
Um, what do we got?
That was the YouTube video this week.
The, uh, the top 10 overall items, not massonomics items.
Anybody get a chance to watch that real quick.
I don't think it was a quick like 12 minute video.
So they're a little more consumable than the hour tours.
No.
Yeah.
No, I've not.
I got to watch it.
Nice.
How many of those things you got, Lauren, a handful of them?
Uh, yeah.
I mean, um, obviously have number one.
The, the stall mats got that, got quite a few of them.
Um, I'm trying to,
to think the only ones that I don't have. I don't have the anchor, the barbell anchor,
the tricep attachment, I was blipped into getting that. And I finally got it. And I do like it.
It's good. Both good for triceps. And I mean, it feels good for curls.
Is that much better than a rope though? Like, is it, but I mean, it's, is it a hundred dollars better
than a rope? I mean, I don't think it's better than a rope. It feels different than a rope. You don't
get that like stretch at the bottom just because it's fixed and i think if you have broad shoulders
it might feel a little too narrow got you um but i found on that like i can't go i love that you
just threw shade at everyone that like like that was like i know it wasn't your attention but i really
enjoy that that's your way of like asserting dominance of all these you know uh weaklings that
love it that are you know not as broad as a big texas man like you i guess that's my favorite part from
that i i've honestly
I honestly had to not review a lot of stuff because whenever I do, I'm more like pessimistic on it.
So I have like more negative thoughts about equipment.
So like I don't review as much.
But I mean, it's still good.
I like it.
The clients I use it with like it.
And then got the fat grips trying to think of the other things that were on there.
Obviously the Vulture, even though I don't know how to use it.
No.
That was because that was the, I think we followed up.
that the next week that Tommy like acknowledged that he'd listen to this episode or at least a clip of it.
And I was like, oh, that's the best thing ever.
Yeah.
And it's like the smallest sticker on there with like just the like terms and agreement like font that like, okay, it's not that big.
Because like on the turn it on it has a really big like sticker by it's like press it and then press it and hold it.
So I was like, oh, if it's important, it's going to be this size.
But the second most important thing has smaller font.
So that's that's my negative review on the Vultra in font choices and size.
Well, we're on negative reviews.
I got a quick one.
I don't try new stuff very often.
My buddy let me borrow the Rogue 2.0 monolith attachments to help prep for the RPS meet.
Well, I did like because I was like I didn't really, I didn't intend to go to the gym to use the monolith.
I ended up doing that after all.
So it worked out.
But like I took a little bit my heaviest squat of prep.
I was trying to use them.
and I had, I'd only used them like warming up to like $2.25 the day before or something.
And I was like, man, I just, I don't like how they're not fixed.
They move forward.
Like, I don't have, I don't have enough experience with the mono in general to hardly be good at it.
But then like to try to like keep my shit completely vertical why the bar wants to
pinch a, yeah, basically pendulum or swing forward.
I just wasn't, was an ideal.
So I think I did too heavy at like a 400 and 410.
And then after that, I was like, man, I'm about to like take the biggest weight of my life.
Like, I am just going to walk it out because I don't want to have this extra element.
So didn't love those for squat.
But everyone's like, oh, they're great for bench.
So I was like, okay, I had like a last heavy bench yesterday or today or whatever.
Or no, we're not even heavy.
Like I had like a light bench like $2.25 or $2.05 or whatever.
And so I did that out of them.
And I'm like, I don't know if it was a positioning thing because I tried moving forward and backwards a couple times and like to get the arms where it was a good position to unrack.
But the negative part I found was I had to re-racking.
I felt like I had to go like six inches in the other direction.
farther than my shoulders felt comfortable doing it. And I'm like, I couldn't imagine doing that
with like anywhere close to a heavy weight. I'd fucking, I felt like I was getting torn apart.
I don't know if it was user error or not. I did it a couple times. And like I said,
I tried going farther back to make to where I wasn't having to push him as far back, but I just,
or to reach during the re-rack. But for me, it was a hard pass. So I'm glad I had a friend that had
a pair because they're like $400, I think. So now I know I definitely never need to spend that
money. I think he was even going to cut me a deal if I wanted to buy him. And he had
listing for 300 and told me he cut me a good. I'm,
I'm bringing them back. I don't want them. These suck. So they might work for some
people. They ain't for me. But like I said, I'm some of that could be user error, but I don't
know, didn't seem ideal for my training. Do you think those mutant metal sliding ones will be
better? Do you feel like that? Maybe. Maybe. I did. Chris, I think, is it Chris? Is Chris in
is Chris in Mutants, I think? He tried to sell me on those as well as I was walking by. And he gave me
like a quick demo, but I wasn't really in the mindset of like, oh, I want monoliths, but like,
I wish I could try something like that now. So I'll be more, now that I've tried like the
standard rogue ones, like I'll have a better understanding when I see the other ones in the wild
or at home gymcon. So I don't know though. If it's literally for one RPS made a year, if I even
do continue to do that meet. Because I historically like USAPL, but getting my feet to touch the,
getting my heels to touch on the floor on bench now are getting harder.
harder just with like mobility and just being a little heavier. So, uh, having the ability to go toes on
bench was pretty dope and like the deadlift bar is nice. And just the way timing worked out this year,
I would have had to done the powers we meet like three weeks earlier if I wanted to do the USAPL.
And I was like, oh, that was only like very, very short after lift hard live easy and an off season.
So I don't know. But they meet, meet this weekend. So tune in next week for, you know, to hear
everyone yell at me for not going heavy enough and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
And we'll see.
But if I get some of the lifts I want to hit, I should walk away pretty happy.
So it should be a good weekend.
Well, we look forward to those fractional PRs.
I don't, I mean, I think it'll be more than that.
We'll see.
We'll see.
Every attempt, every third attempt should be over any meat PR, potentially any gym PR.
Unless, you know, barring injury or,
something of the sort.
Lauren, we haven't had you on.
I always feel like I say,
I know it's, I know what it is, but it's been a long
freaking week. So is it Lorne or Lauren?
I mean, I guess it depends on what you're saying.
Like, are you saying it?
Then you can say Lauren.
But when my mom yells it, she goes,
Lorne.
Okay, so it's not like, it's not just, yeah,
there is, it's almost like there should be a you in it
if I was like spelling it phonetically.
Yeah. And then I had one of my, uh,
first apartment complexes that I lived in in college.
She called me low ren.
So that was the first and only time for that.
Yeah.
Was that your low, low rent apartment?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Low rent.
Low rent.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, college kid, man.
I feel you.
I took some heat last week talking about renting and buying, so I'm not going to touch
that other than I get it.
It makes sense to not buy in today's,
economy with everything going on.
Buy high, sell low.
Speaking of high,
speaking of high, what's that temperature like?
So if anyone, I remember if I touched on at the week after I had him on,
after I had Lauren on,
but he had texted me after the episode and said it was basically over 100 degrees
in his office the entire time he recorded a couple months ago.
So you want to give us an update of where you're at and how warm it is currently?
Yeah, we had a cool front, so it's 93 in here.
Oh, that's not as bad.
That's still brutal, but.
37% humidity last time.
I think it was like 70% and like 103.
That's ridiculous.
Yeah.
Anything else going on since we've talked to you last?
Any updates?
Any family updates?
You're still rocking 19 supporting memberships?
Oh yeah.
Still got it.
Got the double income with kids life going on.
Man, staying busy.
Yeah.
I feel like it's the dwing.
Yeah.
You got to be doing well off if you are.
a single income with kids, I can imagine.
Any competitions on the horizon or anything?
Or just kind of working and being a dad?
Yeah, just working.
Like one-on-ones have taken off.
So I'm a lot busier with those.
Trying to do a few upgrades around the gym just for like check-in purposes.
That way I can like have an idea of like who comes into the gym and can accurately like let people
know because right now they have to come to me and ask me. It's like, hey, how much time do I have left
on my membership or my month or week or whatever? So I've been working on a like a check-in
kiosk thing. That doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Yeah, exactly. I mean, like a gym master and a million
other apps can handle that, but it's probably like a thousand dollars a year or something. Yeah,
because the one that works with the white level app that I'm using now, they partnered with
Faciliki, but that's more so for like getting into the building. And I don't feel like
I think it's like a $1,000 activation fee.
And then I think it's pretty reasonable monthly, like between 75 and like 200, I guess, or something.
That's a big variance.
Yeah.
I mean, I guess just depending on the size of your facility and members, I don't know if it's like a bundle thing where you get this many members for this key card kind of thing.
but so I'm doing something that's going to be locally hosted on a raspberry pie in the gym
and then going to see how that goes so people get credit for their group workouts
and going to let me more accurately track people coming in and their one-on-one session, stuff like that.
Do I have to wait until tomorrow to ask Nate what a raspberry pie is or do you want to enlighten
the listeners briefly?
I mean, some techie thing.
He probably looks down on them.
They came out like years ago now, but.
But they're kind of just like a Linux programmable little computer thing.
And you just do a little bit of code.
And you can put apps on them.
Gotcha.
So doing that rather than having.
So spend a little bit of money up front with that and get it all set up
rather than paying some corporation $3,000 a year to 20 gym members.
Yeah.
If I want more features, I can put them on there remotely.
I mean, it's all going to be at the gym.
So, I mean, it's secure enough.
But, like, once it goes out of the gym.
And also, I don't want to, like, have any payment.
So, like, no card or anything is going to be on file for it.
There's not going to be, like, a point of sale.
Like, I don't want that.
I'm still going to use, like, stripe and square for that stuff.
Interesting, interesting.
Yeah, that's been the fun stuff recently.
Well, whatever makes, whatever that shaves those extra emails and phone calls and text off
your plate just by a little bit of upfront time and money to make stuff more passive income for Jeff,
as he likes to say that I like to call everything passive income, apparently when I don't mean it.
All right.
What was this week's episode about on the Massonomics podcast?
It was about our back machines, the best machine?
Was that the title topic?
Yep.
Yeah.
Any opinions on that there, Matt?
I mean, it's going to cause a new run on machines here.
It's going to be a new sign drop in.
you know, Jim Raiders is going to blow up.
Could be.
Could be.
I don't know.
This is a pretty valid point, though.
Like, I'd like it.
If I'm in a commercial gym,
I'm looking to see what kind of mid,
mid-iso row they got if they got one,
because it's like my go-to,
ooh, okay, I don't get to do accessories with machines very often.
Where's that thing at?
And it's funny,
because that's like the main group of machines that I don't have a lot of.
Like, I just have the lap pull down and the functional trainer,
or the cable stacks and a landmine for T-bar rose.
I'm severely lacking in the back machines.
So you want to have fun doing accessories here.
Also, it's 90 degrees in the gym, so.
I wouldn't have, that's just 93, apparently.
That all sounds horrible.
That all sounds very unpleasant.
Well, I'm not going to get in any details
of what actually happened or anything like that,
but I just wanted to say thanks for any of the crew
in this past week that kind of reached out to me,
via DM or publicly in Discord or text or call in one case, I believe.
So just appreciate all the support you guys, you know, sent my way.
It didn't go unnoticed.
So thank you guys.
And that's about all we have for general topics,
unless anything jumping out at anybody they wanted to touch base on
before we dive into the interview.
Getting just some head shakes, so we're good.
So all right, guys, plate snacks and barbed rescue.
are big friends of ours, we're friends of theirs,
code unpaid if you need to get those stickers
or you need to get that dirty shaft cleaned up.
Go ahead and use that.
Code unpaid, plate snacks, and barbell rescue
to save yourself a few percent.
And Big Matt, did you have a little read for us or some sort?
Yeah, sure.
So, originally I was trying to think of something funny to say,
and I was kind of drawing a blank of an original thought.
I went to chat GPT, and I was like,
You know what?
My AI inputs are going to be nowhere as good as my good buddy Gary's.
He's a big AI guy.
I don't know if you knew that.
But so I'll just do a semi-serious one here.
Just if you're looking for a place to hang out with like-minded people that enjoy lifting
and not taking everything so seriously, just having a good time.
And making some good online internet friends, check out Mesonomics as a little as $3 a month.
get you access to the Discord and where all the actions at.
Nice.
It is,
it is a very action-packed.
It's been a busy.
A lot of,
a lot of communications in there.
A lot of,
a lot of banter.
A lot of chatting.
So, and in such a variety of chats.
I think I was talking to somebody,
like I forget there's like hidden subchannels.
There's like,
the Northeast Ohio subchannel that if you're not in,
like I think you can search them out and find them.
But unless you've been in there or someone's tagged you on something,
they stay hidden.
I believe because I was trying to get someone.
Someone was asking about getting on the podcast,
just getting his name on the,
you know,
the,
the,
the eventually schedule list.
And I was like,
you know,
he told me what his name was on Discord.
And he was like,
oh,
but I'm mostly hang out here.
And I'm like,
whatever acronym he uses,
I don't know what the fuck that means,
dude.
But after he,
I think it was like north,
it would have been the Northeast lifters or whatever,
but whatever acronym I saw him,
the,
in the,
in the Instagram DM.
I was like,
I don't even,
are you even in,
or even in the same cult?
Because I don't know what you're talking about.
So there are levels and hidden, hidden tunnels in that Discord that you might not even know
her there.
But enough about that.
It's time to shift focus here to big white flame, big, big mat, big black cat, big, big,
big, big Matt.
Buddy, what's, go ahead and explain to everybody what your name is one more time and
where they're going to find you at?
Because you've got about three different handles and three different ways to be addressed.
Sure.
So Instagram, Black Cat Lifting Club.
And then on the Discord, La Flamablanca, one of the many mats.
Nice.
And what is your act?
Well, you don't have to share your last name if you're not comfortable with it,
but you're just a mat, you're one of the mats?
Because I know, I think I think it's in like, I think I might have shared it.
I'm sorry if I did share your person, if your last name at one point.
But I remember I shared it on my schedule.
like on my on my um on the podcast schedule and i remember like a couple people were like who the
fuck is this guy because i don't think anyone knew that was your last names i got you got a kick out of that
and it wasn't an easy answer because it's like well this is his instagram and this is his discord
names oh i don't fucking take your pick so one of these he's one he's it's one of the same but he's
both of these names but all right now we know who you are so since you are one of the mats um i'm assuming
I mean, just the collection of Mats is what brought you to Massenomics.
Yeah, exactly.
I heard that was a place to be if you were mad and you like to live.
And so here I am.
Yeah, figured.
Yeah.
We are Legion.
Yeah.
So last Matt, I was a guest on the podcast with, he was kind of way deep into the
massonomics world before he even became crew.
were you like the rest of us that just got suckered in by the three places,
the final three places and then signed up that way?
Or were you like already into it?
And then I might as well just be a crew member.
No.
Yeah, I can go into the whole like how I found the thing.
So let's see.
I've been around like home gym space for a little while now.
2015 is when I first built the original home gym.
gym that I had. At the time, I moved to Alaska. I've kind of been around lifting for quite a while.
I'm in the military, so lifting is part of my job, just like what our general fitness, I guess,
part of the job. When I went up to Alaska, it's like, it gets pretty cold. So I'm going to do this
garage gym thing, so I don't have to leave my house unless it's like absolutely necessary.
You know, negative 50 gets a little wild. But it's, it is a dry,
cold. You do have that going for you.
That's what they say.
Yeah. So at any rate, like, Jim was kind of morphed.
And about a year ago, I moved to Kentucky.
And this is going to be like my last kind of stint in the military.
And I plan on just getting out, staying here in Kentucky.
I was like, all right, I'm going to start getting like the forever gym pieces.
So doing a lot of research and like looking into different like gym stuff.
started coming across these two guys from South Dakota talking about gyms and doing some home gym tours.
And then like the vibe.
I started hearing about the podcast.
Also at the time, like I had just moved here.
I didn't really know anybody.
So like my friends that I lifted with back in Colorado, you know, didn't have them around anymore.
So hearing about the Discord and kind of just like the group, I was like, oh, check this out.
and then having left you up.
How long have you been in crew?
So officially I joined just January of this year.
Okay.
Just a baby.
Yeah.
Yep.
Oh, shrinking.
We know what that can is.
Oh, yeah.
The best.
That's good stuff.
All right.
Well, we were glad to have you.
I didn't, we all got to meet you there.
What, at home, Jim Connell.
we all has in several of us.
Got to meet you at home, JimCon.
So you're in,
you're in Kentucky now.
How far of,
well,
okay,
so basically,
well,
where do you currently live in Kentucky,
but I don't know if you want to get in specifics,
and then where all have you been or where are you from?
Sure.
So currently live on Fort Knox in Kentucky.
Let's see.
Originally,
I'm from South Carolina,
and then, of course,
lived all over the place.
Thanks to the military.
joined when I was 20, so
lived in this really big state.
I don't know if you ever heard of it.
It's New York.
Were you in Watertown for a bit?
Yep.
So that was my first duty station.
Did a lot of work up there in the last decade.
Yeah.
Then moved to South Georgia,
was there for six years,
and then to Alaska,
and then to San Antonio for a few years,
then Colorado,
and now here.
How long was that stint in Alaska?
Because I probably felt like
longer than it might have really been
depending on what part of Alaska and
what time of the season. I was up
three years in Fairbanks.
So, pretty
cold. I can imagine.
So
Fort Knox, that's the base,
right? But isn't that also like
I'm showing my ignorance.
I know that was like, you know, it's like
where everyone referenced Fort Knox is like
the big bank or where like all the currency and shit is,
right? So like... Allegedly.
Okay, but is that actually
So I guess my ignorant brain always
Like I think of the you know
Like the movie Diehardt he talks about like Fort Knox whatever
And it's like well like DiHard 3 actually
So what
Explain to me that it doesn't know what is the difference
So is there a bank or a currency holding place Fort Knox
And then a base that is called Fort Knox
And it's two completely separate entities or is it one of the same
Because I don't understand or no
Yeah kind of
I don't know like how I don't know how like sensitive this is
is.
Oh, you don't say anything that you're not comfortable.
Well, I mean, like, I don't think that it is.
You can get on, like, Google maps and, like, see the place, right?
It's not a secret by any means.
So if I, if I spill any, like, big national seekers, I'm sorry.
Yeah, Nick can take it out.
No, I don't think it is.
So, yeah, Fort Knox is a military installation.
And then, like, the, I think it's called, like, the,
Oh, man, I might butcher this pronunciation, but like the...
It wouldn't be the first time tonight that somebody did that.
Like the big vault where the stuff is stored.
It's actually, it's just next to the Army installation of Fort Knox.
But it's still called Fort Knox, even though it's not necessarily...
Well, it's not even...
Actually, no, I don't think it is.
I think technically it's just like a U.S.
Interesting.
No, that's...
Okay.
So I'm not...
So I'm not the only one.
Okay, so my complete ignorance of the understanding of it might not be rare.
And if people say that, I mean, it might be full of shit because someone who literally works there or adjacent to there doesn't have all the answers.
So I don't know.
Cool.
He just doesn't want to share the attitude because we don't have the security clearance.
Yeah, that could be.
That could be his way of just saying, all right, ask another question, dumbass.
Oh, do you want to hear my conspiracy theory about it?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah, of course.
You're allowed to share.
I know you're out getting out soon, so don't do anything to get you in trouble.
Does it involve dinosaurs?
Not dinosaurs.
Okay.
In my theory.
Because they didn't, didn't someone say they didn't believe in dinosaurs.
Oh, yeah, Matt Wallace didn't believe in dinosaurs.
That was great.
What?
A fellow mad that doesn't believe in dinosaurs?
Oh, wait, that means you don't believe.
Now we've got to end this.
That means you didn't listen to the episode of last month, you son of a bastard.
Hey, listen, there's a lot of stuff going all, okay?
You're telling me.
I know.
Hey, he's holding down Fort Knox.
Yeah.
holding down the fort Knox.
Nice.
Wow.
I enjoyed that.
So the theory that I created just for fun is that, you know, there's always this debate of like, is there gold in Fort Knox?
That's what I was doing.
So I say, no, there's not gold.
That's actually where they keep the aliens.
And the gold is in area 51.
Interesting.
Oh, the old bait switch.
Keep them guessing.
You know how upset you would like that sound, that would actually be a premise to a funny movie.
So like in either direction.
All right.
So you're like an alien head and you want to unearth the proof, etc.
So like you break into Area 51 and you just get money.
And then your money hungry and you break into Fort Knox and you fucking find aliens.
Like that would be a pretty funny movie to me.
As long as Nicholas Cage is in that movie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it's all written about a $2 bill.
You know, it's the map and stuff.
And that's another national treasure.
Yeah, exactly.
Like Fort Knox.
Yeah.
Good.
stuff. I like that rabbit. I like that rabbit hole we just went down.
If you look it up on Google Maps, it's United States bullion depository.
And it's just called Fort. People just generic call it Fort Knox because it's
adjacent to or in the premises of. Yeah, when you, if you zoom out, it will appear. It'll say
Fort Knox over top of it. So I don't know. People know what you're talking about. Yeah.
Well, as someone that works there or close to there, I, when I see you again at, you know,
know, one of our next lifting events.
I'd like, I'd like a follow-up and see if you'd learn anything else.
You know, ask around.
Just ask the kernel on base, you know, get a tour, you know, you know.
Why you're still in?
Let us know if you were told to stop talking about it because then we'll know you're
on to something.
Yeah, yeah.
If you don't see in the Discord tomorrow, you know what happened.
Well, this won't, well, yeah, I guess Big Brother could be watching the Zoom recording,
but it shouldn't hit until Tuesday morning.
Big Brother is crew.
Yeah, if anything this weekend taught us, that's probably true.
Wait a minute. Is massive history Big Brother?
Hey, it's the crew essay.
I don't know. I think Big Brother is more technically sound than that.
Maybe.
What do you got for him?
All right. So you are relatively newer to crew.
So there has to be a piece of Massonomics merch that,
you didn't get your hands on.
Is there anything that stands out to you whenever you see somebody in their lifting videos?
I like, man, I really want that.
And then you send Tanner the message to get it out of the vault.
I hope you said gold lips shorts.
No, it's, this may come as a surprise to a lot of people, but the metalnomics shirt.
It's been like, I got to, I'm going to have to dig mine out and like sell it to the highest bidder because I definitely have an extra large floating around in a, in a two small clothes bag somewhere probably.
I might be able to.
Oh, man.
Yeah, what size are you, Matt?
I'm Max L.
All right.
I'll have to see if I got.
I'll get with you.
I'll get with you.
I have it.
Okay.
It is a,
obviously,
it was the same blank as always,
but it does fit tighter in the,
the bust.
I think it has so much.
Okay.
I think we'd kind of,
well,
I don't know if it was ever to confirm,
but on,
I think it may even have been Joey that mentioned it,
that the shirts that have the excessive amount of,
uh,
screen printing on them, kind of just feel more shrunk or even physically do shrink more.
I don't know if there's any validity to that, but the blanks are definitely not the same in general,
so who knows?
All right.
Let's see you knocked that off.
What's that Hall of Fame status after tonight, bud?
You got any pictures?
You got any, uh, hopefully there's no debate.
We don't sit here and count through them like we did last week, do we?
No.
So after tonight, I should be at seven.
Oh, nice.
You're on your road.
You get, uh, yeah.
Is it 12 for a cup?
So I'll get you there one of these days.
Do you have any, well, I don't come up here in a minute, I guess.
So no worries.
And you said Tanner shot you, your supporting member number?
Yep.
So I would assume it's probably still pretty accurate because this was just like, I don't know,
within the past month where he was just like throwing out people's numbers, but I was
750.
Oh, nice.
Okay.
Safe to say you're probably like 10 to 20 off that, honestly, but fair enough.
Yeah.
Because it changes if somebody's card gets declined and has to go back, right?
I mean, it depends.
If they catch it in a day and are super nice to them, we might let them keep their number.
But, I mean, I just don't think people realize the amount of turnover there is in crew in general.
And how many people, because I was going through my old, it would have been something.
I basically accumulated the names from the rosters from a handful of the Lyftard Levisis as like people to,
potentially I reach out to for being on the podcast.
And like all these people were crew at one point because I had already
discarded anyone that wasn't crew.
And Tanner helped me kind of go through the list like line by line.
And we got rid of like 10 people that weren't crew anymore just from even in
the last people that I just had on a random list.
So there's definitely crew that just kind of see themselves out over the years and,
you know, come to one thing and literally disappear and never to be seen again.
But, you know, we're going to hit 1,000 to hear them before too long.
I think I looked at it the other day.
It was like 988 or something, which is, and that's just discord.
I could, I can guarantee you that they have over a thousand supporting members because
there's for sure well over 20 people.
It's probably closer.
There might even be another 100 people that are technically supporting members that aren't
in the discord.
Like, they're for sure getting at least a thousand supporting members, you know, with that
direct deposit every week.
Well, yeah, I mean, I guess it is every week.
It's the, you know, it's a, it's the, it's the 10 cents a day.
And it's not every week, though.
but yeah, it's good stuff.
7.50.
That is, you know,
in before a lot of people.
Yeah, it's still here.
Still kicking.
Yep.
The line in the sand, you know.
Yeah.
The final three spots, man.
I'd love that that actually gets people.
Yeah, it honestly got me.
And I can finally admit it.
That's funny.
That is really funny.
So you were talking about your gem name earlier.
and kind of explain where you got the gym name
and then what version of Jim since you've been jumping around Alaska, Texas, Kentucky now, Colorado.
Yeah, so the gym name is just, you know, I have a black cat.
He's like always with me.
He's, you can't see him because he's black and it's dark, but he's right there on the other bench.
He's on the bench.
Does he have a small, tough?
a white right here?
That's his collar.
Okay.
Well, so.
Yeah.
Adjacent.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, yeah, he's just always around.
He's like my little shadow.
It's my little dude.
So what's his name?
He's on everything.
He's on the stickers and the flag and plate snacks on my weight stack there.
For version, that's kind of tough because it's been, let's see.
So one.
one, two.
This would be the fourth house that it's in.
But let's see.
I think I would say probably like a version three, a three point O.
Mostly just off like the gear that I've had.
So first setup like super super like simple.
Also like when I lived in Alaska,
obviously like trying to ship anything is.
Oh God.
Insane.
They have to be the worst.
Yeah.
So what I did for my most.
of my stuff was like Amazon because Prime is free shipping even though you're thousands of miles away.
Did you start it new in Alaska or did you just sell everything off from your previous base because
you knew you wouldn't be able to get it there cost effectively? No. So when you move in the military,
like you can move your stuff yourself and get reimbursed or just our moving company will come
and move your stuff. As long as like you are, you do have a cap of weight. Yeah.
that you can move.
So I kept most of the stuff because it was pretty minimal.
I had like a cheap flimsy bench, just like a squat stand,
um,
one barbell and like maybe like,
I don't know,
250 pounds of bumpers like not a lot of stuff.
Um,
some of the stuff I did get rid of.
Um,
when I got to Texas,
I upgraded a little bit,
uh,
had a Titan T2 or T3,
a,
two by three Titan rack and had that for a long time.
Started to get some other pieces.
And then like I said,
like when I moved here,
I started to get like the forever pieces.
So got rid of most of the stuff.
Some of my bumpers that I had were like tearing and splitting.
So got rid of those and I've definitely spent like way too much money since being here.
Do you ever get anything off base like whenever they were going to change anything at the gym?
Because I always see those like government bid sites.
Yeah.
do you ever get anything?
No, I haven't.
I've looked at them a few times.
I never really have, like, hard look to anything just because, like, a lot of those things are, like, bigger commercial pieces that, you know, if you can't tell, this is just, it's a one car garage.
So, I mean, like, it's pretty full as is with just with the stuff from, like, a six-post lift and a separate, like, bench, like, the west side bench and all the stuff.
So pretty, pretty compact.
But yeah, for sure in the future, that's probably something that I'd like to do.
So waiting for the 4.0.
So when I get out and buy a house, hopefully get a basement gym.
Oh, nice.
It's got some space.
Yeah.
Because you're actually on, you see, you're actually on base right now, like in military housing.
So it's just kind of whatever they put you up in.
So then you're going to, what's going to keep, I guess, sidetrack here a little bit.
What is, what was the draw to Kentucky?
Is your wife from Kentucky?
Like, why is Kentucky your forever home or at least home for the immediate future after military?
Because Brandon Doyle lives here.
I mean, he is a good dude.
He does like to spit in people's mouths, but he's a really solid dude outside of that one flaw.
I mean, sometimes you have to pay extra for that.
Yeah, I didn't.
Lucky.
I love that guy.
No, it's just a good spot.
I like the area, pretty chill vibes.
The weather's amazing because, like I'm.
mentioned all those places that I lived. It's like extremes, right? So like the New York to Georgia,
Texas, Alaska, all those different things. Kentucky is like fairly mild for weather. Like summertime,
it's not crazy hot. And then it just doesn't drag forever. You know, you get like really like one,
you get a good month or so of like super hot weather. And then it passes. The same with the winter.
It's not anything like too crazy, at least that I've seen so far.
So, I mean, that's part of it, too, is just the ease of everything.
Like, you know, look, I'm looking to probably live, you know, general vicinity-ish of Fort Knox.
So easy to move out.
And then also because of my wife's work.
Gotcha.
Yeah.
Yep.
Where, wherever people want to, you know, job and income and, you know, stability is definitely a good reason to stay, you know, if it's, I don't know.
that moving six, seven times as an adult
terrible. That concept just makes my head shake of like,
oh, God, that sounds horrible for me personally.
But my wife probably would have loved it.
But sorry, honey.
All right, Matt, you got a definitely a decent amount of people to submit to your
questionnaire.
Did you have to, do you got your way to explain you and you to any of them?
Or were you just like, here, fill this out, please?
Pretty much everybody that responded,
or I even sent the form to
my wife was one of course
so she
she listens by default
I know she had made a joke
with Tommy at home Jim Con
that she tried to leave a review
she couldn't leave a review on Apple for whatever
reason
but she was going to say that
what was it? Something about
like it's the best podcast
she's ever listened to against her will or something
like that. I always have it like the TV or
driving it's on the
like playing through Spotify or whatever
well that that's
massonomics but you so you didn't even get into the
to the differentiating factors of
so there's this other podcast that we talked
that I'm going to go beyond and they're friends with these guys
that are the podcasts that I'm always inundating you with
I kind of forgot what we were talking about for a minute
you know as a man with ADHD I tend to do that
you don't you know type tell us about it
multiple times a day
So the you and you
Not like she's heard of you and you
I've played some before
But so she kind of knew the vibe already a little bit
And then my other friends
That I sent it to
Are into lifting
I've tried to kind of push massonomics on them
I don't know if they've bit yet or not
But they kind of understand the vibe
Of the silly gooseness
I'm a little because of these dudes
I'm kind of afraid of what questions may
hop up here in a bit. Yeah, I do feel the whole, um, trying to get your friends to get more assimilated
into massonomics. And it's just like, it's definitely an acquired taste. Um, it's just, I don't know,
some people go all in and some people are like, I got enough friends, you know, I'm, you know,
I get all this from my in-person friends and family. I'm like, I get it. But it works out for us
that don't like necessarily everyone around us. And it's nice to just be able to just shut the phone
and then like, oh, that world goes away.
Yeah.
All right.
Oh, are you familiar with least fun?
Most fun.
It's a game we like to play around here.
I am.
I'm going to give you a single topic from, you know,
some of the handful of things I gathered from the notes,
something we know about you,
and just want to see what you think the least fun thing about it is
and the most thing about it.
And feel free to go into any stories that correlate
and just make it a better explanation.
So least fun, most fun, the 1990s.
The decade of the 90s.
Oh my gosh.
We hear you're a fan.
Yeah, that's literally the best decade ever, obviously.
You know, you could say back when we were a proper country.
Fair enough.
Hmm.
And then I say, what is the least fun about it, correct?
Yep, least fun, most fun.
So best and worst, least fun, most fun.
This is tough.
You can start with most if you choose and then circle back to least.
if you got to think.
Yeah.
So just one defining kind of answer per each.
Hmm.
Defendant of actually not defining.
I would say, like, most fun, obviously just, you know, being a kid, not having any real
responsibilities and in a great time to be a kid.
Yeah.
Best decade.
Least fun.
Oh.
I don't know, man.
Like, again, I was a kid, so I don't know what was the least fun.
about the 90s.
There's got to be some advancements in like health care or something that didn't exist then maybe
or I don't know.
People smoking constantly you think would be as a non-smoker.
I think the prevalence of smoking in restaurants and indoors, that would be.
They had non-smoking sections.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
After pizza.
That's soft.
Yeah.
Not to answer for you, but I was trying to give you some ideas since you were
drawing a blank there.
no for sure um let's see
dude this is a hard one
just because like the 90s were so awesome it's hard to think of something that uh
that wasn't great well yeah uh let's say uh
early 90s no internet but i don't know we'll throw something out there
good enough i panicked it's all good
i mean that's that's valid because like you're trying to get on dial up or something
then somebody picks up the phone or yeah it was that was that was a pain
Yeah, dial-up was
Bile-up was brutal.
But at the time, it was like
the coolest thing in the world.
It was like, no, I don't want to
get it was like, I don't want to.
Like, I would like stop.
Like the only thing I get me to stop watching TV
was to go fucking like get on the internet
and talk to these random people in chat rooms and shit
as I got a 13-year-old.
It was the weirdest fucking thing ever.
Looking back on it now,
I was like, oh, just spamming people with ASL question mark.
It's like, what the fuck?
Yeah.
Go download a song for three days.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then it kills it.
and then spend the next month trying to fix the computer that you have to reinstall Windows on.
Good stuff.
So you mentioned that you were at Home GymCon.
What other meetups have you gone to or plan on going to?
So that was the only, let's see.
Yeah, that's really been the only actual meetup or like a group going to Crew Falls.
year.
Nice.
Breaking news.
That's not the breaking news sound.
That's cool.
That's a big commitment.
That's a big like, all right, I'm going to drop a grand and go do this.
Yeah.
It's a little easier for us.
So my wife is actually from that area-ish.
Okay.
And her dad kind of lives in the ensue Falls.
Oh, dope.
Amongst like a couple of, he travels a lot for work and everything.
So, but they have.
this like condo or whatever you would call it in in Sioux Falls so I think we're just going to stay
there oh you just got to get out there you guys driving or flying then yeah we're just going to
drive okay so then you really are going to be able to you mean outside of eating the day and a
half to get there or whatever again you know depending on how you split up the driving like
that'll be a pretty reasonable trip for you then actually yeah it's just a you know like short
17 hour drive or so yeah that's so to pay out as long as you're not driving diesel I guess
will be okay yeah seriously um
yeah, split it up over a couple days.
It won't be too bad.
So get to see her family while we're there and, you know, get some pizza ranch, get some lips in.
Do you know what your schedule is then?
If you're trying to also still do family stuff, so you're not kind of short-changing yourself with crew stuff?
No, for the most part, I mean, it'd be mostly crew-related.
Well, I said, I meant like, do you know what day you're planning on getting to Sioux Falls then?
I guess it's more of what I was trying to.
Oh, yeah, yep.
Let's see.
what was our plan?
What's the person?
So Friday and Friday afternoon.
Friday afternoon is lunch and then Friday night's Tom or Friday afternoon is Tommy's grip contest.
Some of us, a lot of us are getting in Thursday night, but that's just we don't have to travel on like the long day.
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Basically like Friday lunchtime is when if you're making the trip, you should be available to do the crew things.
Yeah, I remember now.
So yeah, we plan on getting it on Thursday night.
Nice.
Good, good stuff.
All right.
Yeah, and then the flying in early is always a nice thing just because there will be flight delays.
Yeah.
It's always something.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, you'd touch base on being in the military.
So do you want to elaborate on what you do in the military, how long you've been in,
you know, any advancements you've made in your career or journeys, you know, through different occupations in it.
It's little or as much as you want, but the floor is yours.
We're always curious.
Sure.
So, yeah, I'm in the Army,
I've been in for, let's see,
19 years,
19 and a half, something like that.
I'll be coming up in 20 years in March.
So getting up there.
By trade, I am a, I'm a medic.
Don't do too much of that stuff anymore.
Just like, due to rank, kind of, you know,
as you progress and rank,
the less you do your actual real job.
So currently work, it's called an OCT or Observer Coach Trainer.
So we actually partner with Army Reserve units that are mobilizing or deploying and kind of assist them in their training and kind of to build up to that deployment.
Very cool.
It's kind of like an advisory type role, I guess, if you will.
Someone else had done, someone else in the past guest had did.
basically that exact same thing. I can't remember it was Kim or not. I think Kim was more of a,
he was like a nurse in the surgeries or something, but someone specifically
where he trained other people to be medics. I can't remember who it was, but that was
definitely a guess we've had. Sorry to sidetrack that. I just had a,
my brain just goes off wherever it wants to sometimes. Yeah, no,
I'm kind of curious of who that is then. Yeah, someone will put it in discord or they'll just be
like, no, Keith, that's never existed. No one's ever said that, you dumb,
motherfucker. So I don't know.
Making stuff hard.
Yeah.
I definitely just had deja vu though. So I was like,
we've had to have, I swear I've heard that.
Very cool. So what does.
So did Ted actually been, have you,
well, I don't want to. I'm curious because it's an
interesting topic, but if it's something you don't want to talk about,
don't have to. But have you, were you ever like an actual medic,
like during wartime and like in the shit, if you will?
And like out there, like the shit we see in movies,
medics or, I mean, a lot of the stuff I see in movies
it was like World War II shit, but like
I mean, you're like getting called
from the back to go drag bodies
off the front line or shit or you're more just like
a nurse and a tent and they bring you the bodies
or that the body, sorry,
by bodies I mean like the
soldiers, not necessary.
Their bodies, it's fair.
Yeah, no, that's a valid question because I mean, there
is a difference. You know, you can
be like my MOS, 6-8
whiskey, a combat medic.
It has come out of the name that doesn't necessarily mean that that's what you do.
It kind of just depends on where your place as far as like, you know, where you work,
what unit you're in, et cetera.
Because you can be the same, you can have the same job title as me,
but you could work in a hospital, you know, your entire career, essentially.
So now I've deployed a couple times.
Let's see.
Twice to Iraq, one's to Afghanistan.
And then both of those were in infantry units.
So it's, you know, you're walking on patrol, like with the infantry platoon and getting to do all the fun and dirty work, if you will.
Yeah, you've seen some shit.
I can only imagine.
Very cool.
Very cool.
And what is, do you have the post-military career?
I guess what, I'm not saying this to be condescending, but like, what does your current position qualify you for, like, as far, like, could you walk in and be a,
do you have to like you're not technically a registered nurse or anything like that right so like but like
I mean you could obviously work as a medic on a on a ambulance but I don't know if that's something you wanted
to do if you're higher up than that and your training skills or what do you think your post military
career will look like and what are your kind of options um that's a good question that's something
I think about almost every day now that now that I'm coming to the end um yeah so I actually I
have an approved retirement already. So I'm just kind of waiting all the day. I put it out a little
further than 20 years that you can retire at. So by the time it's all said done, I'll be in for
21 years and three months. Okay. Yeah, but it's moving fast for sure. Um, like,
so as a army medic, you are, um, you're nationally registered EMT. Um, so you could,
you could do that.
I plan on not doing that.
For one,
I'm just like not that interested in doing medicine in any,
like,
aspect when I get out.
And two,
I guess I technically couldn't anyway because I let my certification lapse.
Because once you,
you're only required to have it if you are an E1 through E7.
So E8 and above do not have to have it.
So I let mine lapse.
And, you know,
I have a desire.
If I do 20 plus years in the military,
and go work as EMT for like 15 bucks an hour.
Yeah, I was going to say, like, I've got friends that are EMTs and it's like a stepping stone to be like actual like higher paid positions in firefighters or something of the sort.
And it's not a, it's a very demanding job for not much compensation from what it seems like.
Yeah.
So, I mean, I've been in like a leadership position for most of my career.
So over 16 years now.
So some kind of management position or?
Yeah.
Experience managing, you know, like larger groups of, you know, over 100 people.
And then I've got a degree in organizational management.
So.
Oh, then, you'll be set.
There's a fucking.
If I can be like an assistant to the assistant manager.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
We'll just, we'll run that.
There's a lot of paper companies out there out here.
So that should be, that should work out good.
Very interesting.
And I will circle back.
It is possible that it wasn't a crew that had said that.
It might have been something I heard.
heard on um what's his strength co podcast uh okay podcast it might have been from that but i swear
it was our podcast i really do but if i am mistaken i apologize but i think it was someone on here
we'll run it down i've got a guy yeah yeah see what big brother says yeah let me know gary
it's funny because whenever he was making all of his uh stickers for uh or it was right before um
the lift hard, live easy.
He was making all this treasure.
I made something of him with AI, and I sent it to him, and I was like, do you use AI?
And he was like, no.
So he has lied to me before.
Well, he also didn't drive a car until he did.
So maybe he didn't use AI until he did.
I just hope I wasn't the straw that broke the camels back.
And then, like, I pushed him to do AI.
Oh, Jen's never going to talk to you again after creating that monster.
Yeah.
Or was he just trying to throw you off the trail?
Yeah.
I can't remember exactly what he told me.
One of the first times I messaged him on Instagram,
he gave me this really elaborate story of his history.
I'd have to go back into it and pull it up,
but it was freaking hilarious.
And I was like, oh, God.
Like, that's terrible.
It was like, I'm just kidding.
I was like, dude, you can't do that to me.
That's fucked up.
Take someone on a journey.
I was still, uh,
just to be like, ha, ha, gotcha.
Yeah, I was still filling them out.
Now I know that I got to take everything with him just like with the grain of salt.
Yeah.
Is that true?
It can be, but is it?
All right, Matt.
So let's hear about that lifting history.
Did you do anything in high school?
Did you go?
I'm going to guess you went to the military at like 140 pounds and then you, you know,
just got more jacked as the years progressed.
But you go ahead and, you know, we've heard that story a time or two.
So is yours different?
Man, I wish I could say that I was jacked.
Well, your notes did someone, I don't know who submitted, you know, first deployment in Iraq in 2008, he came back, jacked, all capitalized. So I'm just going off what's in the notes. I can only go and submitted. So someone thought you were jacked. Okay. Let's see. So I mean, I've kind of been exposed to it like most of my life. Even as like a, I don't know, like eight or nine year old, my older brother, he had like, you know, your traditional like,
starter set of the old like concrete wrapped in plastic weights.
So lifting that.
Then we had a weight lifting class when I was in high school,
probably like, I don't know, 10th grade maybe.
And I say weight lifting class like very loosely.
Like basically we just benched every day and, you know,
took it because there was like no supervision.
It was ran by the high school head football coach.
And he just like hung out in his office and just like smoke cigarettes the whole time.
while we were just doing whatever.
What else would you be doing?
Be it, kind of when I got into the military, 2007, so went to Iraq very shortly after, like, January of 2008.
So at that time, mostly just trying to do like bodybuilding type stuff.
So, you know, this was not necessarily pre-internet, but obviously the internet was like pretty limited in that environment.
So, I mean, just doing workouts that we're finding in like muscle and fitness magazine and, you know, dry scoop and jack 3D back in the good old days.
The good mix.
You know, I do have a bit of a confession.
I did do CrossFit for like two months.
But then stop that.
CrossFit's just strong man with lightweights.
I don't even know.
I heard it was a podcast.
I was into the day.
CrossFit's great.
It's literally, I think they were saying,
I think they were saying Strongman is CrossFit with heavyweight,
so I just hadn't reversed engineered it there.
But, uh, no.
It crosses all fitness.
And so it's just crossed across the board, man.
I mean,
the military had a big kind of like stake in CrossFit.
That's kind of where it started, right?
In the military?
I'm not sure.
The first time I heard about it,
I was actually,
so my second deployment to Iraq,
like 2010.
We had one platoon and their platoon sergeant.
So the dude that runs a platoon, he was like super into CrossFit.
So he made all of his dudes to CrossFit.
And like he would just, they were just broken all the time.
Because in my experience, that's one of the things that you kind of see with CrossFit,
especially with people that aren't like used to it or whatever.
You just take a group and experience people, especially, you know, in the military,
usually pretty competitive people.
And they're all trying to, you know, lift heavier, be faster, whatever.
And just they were going down left and right.
So, yeah, I don't know.
Not that great.
In my opinion, especially in that environment.
But yeah, they kind of just like bounce back and forth, mostly just like bodybuilding type stuff.
And then off and on a lot, you know, like it was.
always great when you deployed, you know, you had more time.
Because if you weren't, like, actively working and do any sort of like missions or anything,
there's nothing else to do than other than eat, lift, play some call of duty over the land party.
And then, uh, more so like as I got older, um, lifting also more so just like longevity and,
you know, I want to be mobile and move around and get off the floor when I'm 80.
And then also kind of like combined when I found
Masonomics is when I kind of like started power lifting.
So really earlier this year is when I got into power lifting.
And that's, you know, all I've done and probably all I'll do for a while.
Like I don't think I would go back into lifting just for, you know,
aesthetics of it, you know, doing the arm day.
you've done a meet so far then or you're just more like powerlifting training
yep no no meet other i did the uh the virtual lift on easy and that's been that's been the only
thing nice so what is um what are you doing for your coaching or programming then since this is all
kind of new territory for you um you know we're just trying like a little bit of everything really
um uh i did i actually worked with jake for a little bit um and then um
I found that there was a gym in my town that it's actually a strongman gym.
But so the woman that owns it, she's got a pro card and strongman, I guess.
Cool.
And she does power lifting coaching too.
So I figure just because like I'm newer to this type of strength sport,
I'd rather just do some coaching in person.
Yeah, for sure.
It's not a bad idea to get a bit bitter.
kind of hands-on, like, no, you're going to break your back if you squat like that heavy.
Or your bench form looks like shit and your deadlift looks like your cat.
Yeah.
Yeah, so I've been working with her and things are going pretty good.
Although I am getting a little bored of the training, which, you know, as a man with ADHD,
that could happen.
But I actually talked to Jake.
He hit me up last week.
And he said, hey, man, haven't heard from you.
I was like, yeah, my bad.
I told him that I found the in-person coaching,
but I do want to go back to him here pretty soon, probably for programming.
Oh, so are you only, are you just paying for personal training sessions and not actually
getting coaching from her, or are you paying for some in-person stuff?
And she's still giving you your weekly programming?
Programming.
I guess I should say she's coaching, no programming.
Okay, so you're not actually.
I have.
Yeah, so you're paying like $100 a session to go get, you know, told what your spot looks like
or whatever the money is, but you're not actually getting,
you're not actually, she's not providing you with your lifts to do at home.
Correct.
That's fucking pointless then.
Like,
in the sense of if you're trying to be an,
if you're trying to compete in power lifting,
if you're also going to train three or four times by yourself and then go see her once a week or whatever the thing is, like, I don't know.
Yeah, you got to get her to program for you or get another coach.
Dude, do you want to come on?
I have a baby.
There's a kitty.
No, what's his name?
This is Barry.
Barry.
Barry.
And where's, where, where did Barry?
originate the name from anything?
Barry Manilow.
No, I'm kidding.
That was going to be better.
It's probably better than the real story.
That's just what he was named when we got him.
So, yeah, a guy I worked with when I lived in Texas,
his wife,
she would rescue like every cat that came around in the neighborhood.
And for whatever reason, like, their area must have just been like
the go-to spot to dump cats because,
I think at one point
it got just out of control
and I think he had like nine cats
in his house and he was just going to everybody at work
saying like you want a cat
please take a cat
Yeah my marriage wouldn't survive nine fucking cats
dude I don't know how that's a
That's a lot that's excessive
So was it
Did you specifically
So we see you
You're a big fan of Halloween
So obviously a black cats are kind of
You know go hand in hand with Halloween
So was he the cat
They presented to you
Or did you see a bunch of different
cats and pick him because he's black cat and you were like oh Halloween no um it just kind of worked
out that way um he was telling me about the cat and then he showed it to me and i was like yeah cool
you know we'll take him um really it was my wife and daughter that wanted the cat okay um i have
actually never been much of a cat person um or at least i thought right yeah yeah yeah i don't i don't
like cats i'm a dog guy um and then when we got this cat so he was like hey hey
he's the last of a litter
the only ones
from that family that are left
are him and his mom
and he didn't want to separate him
I was like okay I'll take both cats
and in retrospect I think he just bamboozled me
to get two cats so he didn't have nine in his house
yeah
he got up so pretty chill and then he just
he attached to me and yeah he just my little dude
he's always always around me
that's really cool
nice
Big cat guy over here.
What you got for him, Lauren?
So looking at your nicknames, who calls you sweet cheeks?
Sweet cheeks?
Yeah.
That might have been one of those stupid submissions?
Let's see.
Well, if I, just knowing who submitted, and if I had to take a guess, I would say that's Patrick.
Okay.
So not your wife.
No.
All right.
Yeah, that one really stood out at me.
I saw it earlier.
Does it say who says that?
Not without me going back yet.
I'll DM me after and remind me to show.
I can unlock the show notes,
so it shows who submitted what.
But when I copy and paste them into here,
no,
it doesn't specify unless I,
and I'm not opening the other,
I'm not opening another app.
No.
I'm like 99% sure.
That's who it would be.
Nice.
I like it.
Might have to,
Might have to use it whenever I see you at, uh, crew falls.
Sorry.
Putting it out there now.
But going back to your lifting history, I don't know if I missed it, but you're talking about like you're lifting and you had that lifting class and stuff.
Did you ever lift for sport or participate in any sports, team sports, solo sports, anything like that in school?
No, no, I've, I've never really been like a sticking ball kind of guy.
I was a skater in high school.
Yeah, I was in some bands, skated.
up to play bass
you're a drummer
I feel like we don't have
any lead singers or guitarist hardly
it's all bass players and drummers
I started as a bassist
ship
I wasn't even submitted
I didn't see it
that's funny
that's good stuff
I get a lot of basses here
that kind of seems
that just I think I've said it before
it just fits like
the crew
where we always kind of
the dudes that played
second fiddle a lot of times
and it's just
you know
such as life
weren't the most outgoing
so
talking on the music, what all instruments do you play?
Guitar and bass.
Not super graded either.
I like playing.
I'm not like the best, like, if you think of like your classical,
well, I shouldn't even say that.
That's not the right term.
Not classical, but like a very experienced, like, skilled player,
you know, that can, like, play.
my ear or
nose every
single chord
like I know like
basic
basic chord stuff
play a lot of tabs
like I mean I can play
full songs
but it's mostly just like
all three tabs
and your basic chords
which I'm sure
you probably saw like
in my response
like pop punk type stuff
I mean you only need like
four power chords for that anyway
yeah so you're golden
there was a lot of punk mentioned
and it
so you skated
and then
dirt bikes
were brought up a lot and then looking on your Instagram feed,
it kind of just shifted from dirt bikes to barbells.
Yeah.
So I've actually had like a couple of Instagram pages
kind of depending on really a lot of like where I lived, right?
So another hobby is shooting.
So used to be a big gun guy, a lot of shooting.
And then started riding dirt bikes and motorcycles.
in Texas.
And so that started to take up a lot more of my time.
And then moving to Colorado,
you have less places to shoot and tons of land to ride.
So created like a new Instagram account.
And that was like the dirt bike riding.
And then whenever I moved to Kentucky,
there's not a lot of dirt bike riding areas
because everything is private land.
So that's when like, you know,
I always lifted,
but it was just like kind of like something I did.
It wasn't necessarily like my main hobby or life.
I was like, I'm not going to, like, create, like, yet another Instagram.
We're just going to go.
I still wonder sometimes, like, people that followed me from the dirt bike world, like,
like, who is this guy?
I don't even know.
This dude's just, like, always pushing his cat, like, in a jig.
Just going to be in the comments.
When are you going to ride again?
Yeah.
And what kind of PC games do you play?
PC games.
A little bit of everything.
like I've been playing some runescape lately, the Dragon Wilds.
Let's see.
First person shooters of any type is always good.
Another game that I probably have like the most amount of hours in is called
phasmophobia, where like you go into haunted locations and find the ghost and figure out what type of ghost it is.
Interesting.
Yeah.
I have to check that one out.
For sure.
What is, so you said you want a big stage.
him ball guy, but I hear you're a big fan of hacky sack.
You know, that's a butt ball, Jason, isn't it?
What?
Are you a big hacky sacker?
I don't know.
There's a, no. Someone submitted a funny,
under funny embarrassing stories.
I once caught him playing hacky sack by himself.
It was interesting how passionate he was about it.
Dot, dot, dot, dot, dot.
Got caught sack in the bean, man.
No.
No.
Well, you tell your friends are assholes for submitting stupid shit that wasted my time,
then?
I was hoping that one was true.
Yeah.
Well, that's a bummer.
I just fucking hate when people do that.
Let's see.
Tell me about Newman Hill.
In Colorado.
Oh, my God.
Okay.
So it's a large hill in an area we used to ride dirt bikes.
Like pretty tall, pretty steep, and a long, if you will, hill.
So the first time I ever attempted it,
I'm going to blame the tie.
I'm going to do what any,
you know,
good dirt bike rider is going to do
and blame the tire.
I had a worn out shitty tire on my rear.
And like I tried to go up this thing like,
I don't know how many times.
And, you know,
I'm just like,
I'd stall out because it got so steep.
And I would slide,
do some tumbles.
And,
uh,
the guy that submitted that he knows me well and knows that,
uh,
I'm a pretty chill guy most of the time, but my anger kind of has just like a switch.
Zero to 100 real quick.
Yeah, when it gets flipped, it's sometimes like it's fun.
So I was probably just like screaming and like, I don't know, maybe even like punching my dirt bike.
I don't know.
Oh, no.
Yeah.
So then they named the hill after me.
That's actually funny.
Yeah.
That's good stuff.
Oh, let's see.
I got a bunch of crew submitted stuff.
I'm going to try to see if anything is worth chatting about.
All right.
Which one of your, you know, which one of the host on here tonight do you imagine would give a better sensual massage?
Do we need to show our hands?
Yeah, let's see these things.
I got a little baby hands.
I can't tell, you know, I was trying to see, like, a lot of things.
Well, for reference, Lauren's a lot of things.
lot larger of a man than I am and significantly stronger.
And calluses too, I think that's going to play a part.
Yeah, there's some calluses.
I don't have a ton of calluses.
I don't know as much barbed stuff with bare hands.
I'm going to have to go to Lauren if you said that he's got, you know, the bigger man
hands.
Yep, that's probably a good idea.
Yeah, good idea.
They're nice and deep like.
That's fair.
Yeah.
I'm going to make you earn that sweet cheeks name on that massage.
I'll bring the oil.
Perfect.
I saw that one.
Let's see.
Jen wants to know why you are actually massive history and not Gary.
Oh my God.
I think she DM'd everyone in the world and accused them of being massive history probably at one point.
Kind of offended.
She didn't ask me if I was massive history.
No, I know why she did because I had kind of like,
I did make a comment defending whoever it is.
Well, I mean Gary, because we now know it's Gary.
You used snack pack fuckers know how long, didn't you?
Listen, what happens in the pack stays in the pack.
But now I just made a comment like defending him.
Like, oh, he's like kind of a nice guy.
Because I actually tried to make some image and AI and it just like was not working out.
It kept giving me this weird thing.
And then Matt's of history, DM me with the picture that I was trying to create, like in a better format.
So I was like, oh, he helped me out here.
And then she was like, new suspect.
It's always the, I have a friend or my friend did this.
It's never you.
It's always your friend.
Well, you got to remember, it's also never the person you most suspect.
Also, it's never the one that you least suspect.
It's whoever you medium suspect.
Yeah.
Mean medium mode.
It's all in the numbers.
Yeah.
It must be hard for him to not incorporate a goblin in every meme.
That would have been a day giveaway.
Yeah.
Immediate unfollow.
So you're in the crew that does a lot of the online gaming in the,
on the actual NAR Discord, right?
Or do you guys do the live chats in there?
Yeah.
How's it being getting to know Scott and Grayson?
Any other guys your chat with regularly in there?
Or do you guys just like walk in the video games?
You actually like shoot the shit while you're doing it?
Or is it just kind of like immediately no conversation and just like, nope, you got to get this guy.
No, I got to get this guy or whatever the fuck game you're playing.
I don't know.
Well, I'm going to put him on the spot here and say Grayson has only played this game with us once and then he bailed on us.
Jesus.
Fucking little fuck out.
I don't even know why someone's even put his name in here.
Mofo doesn't know.
Well, I'm sure there's other people that are better than Grayson.
So you can always name drop them if you want.
Yeah, apparently he felt bad because, like, Scott and I were waiting on him to, like, progress in this game.
And he didn't realize we were waiting on him.
And then we're like, yeah, man, let's get on here.
And he felt kind of bad about that, I think.
That's actually fine.
Poor guy.
We talk a bit, honestly.
Like, it is, like, it's pretty quiet.
I think both of us are just, like, locked in and focused on what we're doing.
And there's not a lot of, like, random just bullshit and going on.
Okay.
So it sounds like you've been at least our friends with Scott now.
So have you listened to the episode that Scott hosted?
Uh, no.
Oh, you.
Yeah.
Such a bad, you, I'm not like just kick you off the podcast and get you on next year once you get assimilated a little bit more.
No, it's okay.
Can be too mad, Keith.
I think that was the fail and the host for not vetting them enough.
I mean, you vetting it.
What podcast is this?
Is this not a Masonomics podcast?
That is true.
Hey, like the amount of effort I put into scheduling the guest now, maybe I've gone down because it's just more like, all right,
I have to schedule the host and the guests now,
so I'm not gonna like,
I don't want to get shitty.
I'm not implying your shitty guess by any means.
I'm just saying, like,
I yes,
I used to fucking,
and I will too.
Once it gets closer to events and stuff,
I'll try to look at the roster
and cherry pick those crew
that are going to be there,
et cetera,
but like,
fuck you guys,
it's hard.
My job doubled as far as the amount of time
I have to spend scheduling people now
because now I have to schedule
two different fucking entities
to be on each week
and juggle schedules and shit.
So,
be a better
fucking crew if you want a better podcast.
I'm doing my best over here.
It was the black cat barbell
that saved you, Matt.
Yeah. He's fair enough. He had a soft spot for the cat.
Well, I was like, I've met this guy.
It's always easier too when I've met someone.
So it works out for me.
Yeah, I listened to a few. I started at the beginning.
That's all the matter. Really, if you listen to a few,
but the beginning ones are not what we do now. And it's so far
in the past, too, it's hard to be like, oh, this is what we're going
have. So I was going to wait until I caught up, you know, where they start to like sync up.
Oh, because you're also doing the massonomics journey too then. It sounds like, okay. We got a sprinkle.
Yeah. That'll be a while probably because we would have, I don't know what someone, I think we found what number that was going to be years ago, but I don't know.
Yeah, I can remember the know. I looked at the dates. Yeah. But I forget which actual episode number.
Well, someday you get to know what crew members by that listen to other podcast. Yeah. I've got people that I like I know and interact.
because more of the Discord.
I have gone back and listen to their...
Okay.
I was like, yeah.
You had to have cherry picked all your snack packers, I bet.
So that would...
Yeah, yeah.
So you have some good ones in their episodes.
I don't know about the...
I don't know if the guys are good,
but the episodes that we put out were probably pretty good.
They're the best guys.
Yeah, now that is cool, though.
So you're, you've kind of found a home there with your buddies with all the...
They have a pretty active group chat, I imagine.
Oh, God, yeah.
Yesterday I was in a meeting for an hour, and then came back to my phone and I had like 80 messages
from Instagram.
Did Gary AI give you like a breakdown of the summary?
You know, the Gary summary, the AI summary that was funny is like I did I did do the whole AI summary thing.
Yeah.
It's always funny, whatever it tells you.
They're so, they're accurate-ish, but usually not in a great way.
I'm in a couple chats that, yeah, if I don't look at them every day, it's like, oh, there's 50 messages.
I'm not reading all that.
Especially if it's the one, if it's, there's one specifically where there's one person will type like 30 messages in her.
row, I'm going to use that or the same person types 10 different paragraphs in a row.
It's like, I'm really not going to read that.
Unless it's like something super relevant, like I'm probably not going to get there.
How did your parents know that you would be one of the mats and then name you appropriately?
I mean, just destiny, I would think.
Time travelers?
Yeah, it was just, you know, it was just meant to be, I guess.
How many snacks fit on a snack bed? On the snack bed. And what is the snack bed? That sounds kind of dirty.
Well, I can't tell you what the snack bed is. It's kind of like the masons. You know, you just kind of got to be in it.
It's like Fort Knox, but no one really knows. Damn. Snack's more secretive than Fort Knox.
Yeah, I can't tell you what the bed is, but the answer to how many people is all of them.
Oh. It's interesting.
That is.
And then I have one user response from a big bam-bam.
He wants to know when you're going to give him the 20 bucks you owe him.
I told him already, I mailed the check.
Oh, did you guys have a bet?
No.
Oh, that's funny.
Was that like that fucking 18 years of child support you neglected to pay him?
Yeah, it's just, it's 20 bucks.
It's all this.
It's his allowance.
Yeah, back pay.
Let's see.
I mean, a lot of people said you had a good military career.
There's some jacked comments, you know, good guy, great leader, you know, so that's, I mean, there's only so much to talk about, I mean, if you, okay, so in a role of leadership, how do you think you've improved as a leader today from when you first got into a leadership role, you know, a decade ago or whatever?
Like, compare Matt Leader Year 1 versus Matt Leader, your current?
A big thing I would say is allowing people to,
allow people to fail.
Sorry.
My wife was like,
my wife.
Texting me about something.
Huh.
Oh, well.
I'll tell her I'll be off after my thing.
Yep.
She can have you in a half hour,
to an hour.
Unless obviously it's an emergency, we can, we can, we can let you go.
No, no, that's all good.
Yeah, I would say like the biggest thing that I had to learn is allow people to fail.
And then this or succeed, right?
I guess a better way to say it would be just give them a chance to, you know, make decisions on their own and kind of act on those decisions.
One of the things that was a big, you ever done an interview where somebody's like, tell me a strength and a weakness?
And then that's like a weird question.
Something I've just kind of developed and learned with that is like a weakness was not really delegating super effectively.
Because like you may have experienced something like this before where like you have a task to do.
I can tell somebody else to do it.
And then they might like not do it how I want to do it or meet the intent of it.
and it's just easier for me to go to it.
You get to a point where, like, I mean, you might not be able to do that.
If you have X, Y and Z things to do only so much time to do it,
and, like, you have to be able to delegate.
And just, it's kind of like learning how to trust your people,
train them so they can, you know, work without you.
And just giving kind of, like, that overall intent so they can kind of, you know,
accomplish what you're trying to do without telling them, like,
to find details of how to do it.
Cool beans, cool beans.
So, because they're just giving people enough, you know, slack to, you know, sink or swim.
Yeah, I mean, depending on what it is, too, I mean, if it's something that, you know,
if it's not, like, super critical and if you don't do this right, you know, something crazy is
going to happen, like, sure, let it be, even if they do fail, a learning experience,
now they know next time what not to do.
Cool beans, cool beans.
You had a funny or embarrassing story to ask him there, Lauren,
I mean, get into a game after that probably.
I feel like I've done a bit of chatting as I'd let you take that one.
It's highlighted up above with all the pictures.
It's fine.
There was something.
Oh, yeah.
The Christmas tree cakes.
So what's the backstory with that?
That's your personality?
Apparently.
I wouldn't say it's my personality, but,
I am an
an enjoyer of the Christmas tree cakes
How did that come about?
Just nostalgia?
I don't know.
I mean, they're just, they're delicious.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's best time of the year.
It's funny because like a friend, another friend of mine,
he messaged me some like Instagram reel
that had like a little Debbie Zebra cake.
And I was like, get this bullshit out of my face.
It's not the same.
Like, it's the red four years.
that really brings it home.
Yeah.
So you're only the Christmas tree out of that, like,
a pack of stuff.
So not zebra cakes and the other goodies.
No, man.
Only Christmas tree cakes.
All right.
No, did.
I'll have some under massage.
See, I knew there's a reason I picked you.
Why is it specifically says and how that haunts him?
Is there a more elaborate?
Or is that just the way someone word?
it odd.
Yeah, that's about the Christmas your cakes.
They haunt me.
Unless I'm sometimes.
Yeah, I mean, that's how I took it.
Sometimes.
Yeah.
I mean, their existence or lack of existence haunts me, you know, when it's not Christmas
time.
You get merch and cakes every year as gifts.
Like, that's just what people, like, your family just, like,
that's just like stalking stuff for every year or people have getting you, like,
it's happened a couple times.
Yeah.
All right.
Like I said, I can only ask you questions that are in the notes half the time.
sounds like it's
worded a certain way
so we went that way with it.
I'm going to ask him one
and then you can do
Rushmore if you choose.
All right,
I get a little bit of a reoccurring game
we've been playing the last few weeks here
we're going to stole it from some people.
Nice little question I like to ask everyone going forward.
Big Matt,
what is your proudest feat of strength?
What's that one lift
or that one strength accomplishment
you did that's just like,
God damn, that was pretty cool.
Hmm.
And if you would listen to any of the last couple episodes,
you would have known to study for this one and any future guests.
This will be a reoccurring question as long as I remember to ask it going forward indefinitely.
You know, I actually, I did listen to the last couple.
Adaboy.
There you go.
Just giving you a hard time.
Listen to Adams.
Nice.
Good episodes.
And I actually did.
I remembered that and I was like, hmm, I got to think of that.
Man, I don't know.
I'm not like the strongest dude.
Like I said, like I'm kind of like,
Bill starting the whole like power lifting strength
specific journey.
I don't have like much that like is any like wild number or anything.
It can even be a reps.
It can even be like a high rep set like a squat,
you know,
five rep max or something.
Like I don't know.
I'll tell you I'm super happy.
I actually did a lift competition last week at work.
Okay.
So it was kind of weird.
Like,
so it was squat.
deadlift so far so good right yeah then it was overhead press and curls
and it was all like based off of like your body weight
coefficient score yeah so it was like they had like a chart for like easy math on
their part but it was like uh your squats was like 100% of body weight um deadlifts were
125 bench was 75 and this was for reps press was 50 and the four reps yeah so basically
You got a point, right?
So what did you get?
Do you remember any of your scores?
Because I'm trying to, so how much do you weigh?
I weigh like 188.
All right.
So you benched 188.
Let's see.
So squat, so it was squat 100%, so basically 190 pounds for, I mean, that's got to be like,
I mean, so this was just bare knees, no belt or anything, right?
Just sticking around in your, you know, whatever clothes.
So, but 190, so body weight, I mean, it's got to be 20 reps, right?
like yeah I think um for squats and I was actually going to say that that was probably like
that was going to be my um my proudest lift if you will because I had to shit super bad and I banged out
like I think like 30 reps of squats without shitting my pants so I was like yes that's a wind
I don't think I could body weight 30 squats I mean maybe I probably could but I have a take I guess
you could just you couldn't do it with
out shitting your pants.
Well, yeah.
No,
well,
I meant like,
in my mind,
I'm like,
to do that competition fairly,
I think it almost
have to have like a three minute cap on it or something.
Because like,
I could sit there and just squat for a half hour straight.
But if you have like a four minute cap per session or a 90 second cap,
then yeah,
that's totally different.
That was kind of my question too because I was like,
you know,
we do these like work competitions where it's some sort of like fitness related thing
once a month and everybody always ends up trying to like game it somehow.
Yeah.
And I would win.
And that was my question.
like, is there a time limit?
Because, so you had five people on a team.
So basically, like, your rest was just while one of your teammates was lifting.
So I was like, well, you could drag that out.
You know, obviously, like, if you're going slower, you got a little more rest time yourself.
You can bang out reps.
You're giving your teammates extra time.
But I think pretty much everybody was, you know, we were just going, like, as quick as possible until your gas and then the next person jumps in.
Well, I guess, there's not necessarily the rest between lifts.
I mean, I'm saying like during a squat set, like I could just, I would just go for five minutes straight and then just like rest for 10 seconds at the top and then just keep going and going.
I got you.
But I'm curious to how that would go.
But that's cool.
Okay.
So the 30-ish reps while having to shit at body weight, that's good.
That's good.
I'm assuming you did not shit your pants or we'd get that story, right?
No.
No, no.
Okay.
Hopefully you were able to go to the bathroom before you did the bench and the overhead and the deadlift or was it the whole session you had to shit.
Oh, no.
I held that thing.
That's not cool.
that's not healthy.
That like fucks up your guts and your intestines and shit.
All right.
It could have been the high rocks, girl.
That would have actually.
There was many jokes made about that that day.
Yeah, I can only imagine.
Well, that's cool.
So do you any other numbers you wanted to share?
Or is that just the,
you pretty much set with that 30 reps at body weight was,
because I know I'm curious of,
I'm curious of what you did on the other ones,
just out of sheer, that's an interesting athletic event.
Yeah, I don't,
I don't remember.
exact numbers, but I mean, it was in the 20s for everything, for sure at a minimum.
Sweet.
I was kind of, I was surprised at overhead press that I was able to get in the 20s because
like, I was like, what was the percentage on that one?
You said 50.
So they, I think they round it to like 95 pounds.
But like I've never, I've never really just like how many reps can I crank out on overhead
press?
Yeah.
And that was like any weight overhead.
So like push, press, strict.
military press obviously is in the military
no they weren't super strict the only thing that was
really put on there for like standards where
the bar had to come below your chin and then to a full lockout
I try to be as strict with everything as possible because I just
I treated it as like a competition but also just like hey I'm getting
like extra reps because obviously I did not go to the gym that day
outside of that well no I mean you had to have you had to
move, you had to move furniture that night, so of course you could. Yeah, exactly.
Towards then, though, I started to cheat it too. I was like, I'm just going to see what I can get away with.
Yeah. What was, were you judging other people's like, there had to be some asshole doing like a quarter squat that was just the most embarrassing, pathetic looking fucking thing. And you're just like, motherfucker, you can't, you can't like full depth squat fucking 200 pounds. You fuck.
I know I would have been saying that. Like, I would have been pretty like, but that's.
obviously the power lifter and you know it's come on man.
That's cool.
There's some pretty sketchy stuff happening.
All right.
Do you think you'll,
do you think you will compete in the future?
Like in power,
like if you say,
you figure out what you're going to do for coaching,
you either stop seeing the girl you're with and work with Jake
or get on Juggernaut or hire whatever,
whatever you end up doing.
Like,
do you actually have any motivation or desire to put a singlet on and go out
and actually be judged, or you're just like, I'm just going to keep doing the, the virtual stuff.
Lift Hardly v. Z6.
Oh, okay.
You're going to try to get on the roster.
Oh, boy.
Yeah.
Nice.
Signups will be coming here.
Well, who knows?
I think they're going to push signups this year, but hopefully not too far.
So we at least can, but I think we already know the date and everything.
It's just a matter of hoping you get a spot.
Every year we keep getting fuller and fuller.
It's going to be the theme, full house.
everywhere you go
everything you do
I don't think that's
Is that even the
Am I'm singing the right?
I've been known to start singing a
That's the tune
I've been known to start singing
an intro
song to a show
and be completely the wrong fucking show
So I was like questioning that
As soon as the melody came out
And I was like wait
Am I completely budget?
Melody is right
I don't know if the lyrics were right
Yeah yeah yeah you convinced me
I don't know the words either
or so.
I mean, I saw Uncle Jesse coming in the door on that one.
Yeah.
Have you ever seen the, so I don't think the pilot episode was ever released,
but there's like a still photo of the family from a pilot episode.
And all the kids were the same.
But like it actually, it was Danny and his dead wife who wasn't dead.
And it was just going to be like a Danny and his wife show with the kids and like no uncles or like the uncles weren't really main characters.
And like they had to like, I guess the pilot shit the bed.
So that's when they kind of killed the wife off and brought in.
John Stamos and
Alana Morissette's boyfriend.
Yeah.
And they were like, no, you know what these kids need?
Emotional trauma.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They must have came from Disney.
And they're like, hey, we need more death than this sitcom.
This lighthearted sitcom.
Yeah.
It's a good show.
All right.
You got a game for him, Lauren?
Yep.
We got good old Mount Rushmore.
Are you familiar?
And then, so obviously we have the standard Mount Rushmore, but I'm going to pull this Mount Rushmore from a response from Big Jakey.
He says Mount Rushmore of punk bands, but he says, Blink is in the Panthenon.
That can't, you can't pick them.
So you can abide by his role and say that they're kind of off topic because like they're in their own little, their world.
or you have your druthers.
So if you want to put them on there,
you can put them on there
and completely disregard Jakey.
Let's see.
Yeah, that gets
a little tougher
if we're saying like what is traditionally punk.
Let's see.
So can I invoke my druthers here?
Of course.
Use the hell out of them.
All right.
So I am going to put Blink in there.
All right.
We got one.
Because that's just, you know, it's what we're going to do.
Oh, man.
Only four.
We're probably going to go descendants, even though, you know, they're probably a little more pop-ish, but we're going to put them in there.
T-S-O-L.
And number four, last one.
Well, this is tough.
I will say minor threat.
All right. There you go.
I know one of those.
Yeah. Is it blink?
Yeah, is blink.
Yeah. I was going to ask you about that flag in the back
because it looks like a pair of boobs reading a magazine.
No, that's not a pair of.
boobs. That's that's Milo.
If anybody's a descendant's fan.
Gotcha.
That's just his glasses.
Yeah. I mean, after I looked at it for a while, I saw the glasses, but my first instinct
wasn't glasses.
That's fair.
All right.
There you go.
He passed, Keith.
What are you eating, Keith?
I had it on mute so I could eat a fucking Slim Dream real quick, but he just came to me
too quick.
Oh, yeah.
snap into it, brother.
Do you have any co-host affiliates for him there?
Well, shit, no. You are the co-host, so do you have any affiliates for him?
Let me call in the co-host real quick.
Get him on the horn.
So we do have some affiliate links to read.
We got belt fed strength.
They are the premier place to get a dip belt.
Are they actually selling them yet?
Or is that still just a messanomics?
Yeah.
I think that Chris will never sell one just.
Yeah.
I think it's just a bit now that it just won't exist.
At this point,
You can keep pasturing them.
Maybe they'll cave.
Then we got Home JimCon.
You can go see some of the mats there at Home GymCon.
Also, Big Doyle, all those fun guys there.
You use the code unpaid.
You get free registration.
Just kidding.
I used that joke last time.
Don't do that.
You can put it in.
Nothing will happen.
But code affiliate unpaid will get you a free account on Jim Radar.
That's a finding.
all the hottest attachments, equipment, flooring options there is.
And not to be confused with Jim Radar to help you find local Jameses around you,
but this is the other Jim Radar.
That's awesome.
Yeah.
That makes me happy.
All right, Big Matt.
We have a reoccurring game here.
We've played once or twice in the past, so maybe you haven't heard about it yet.
But just in case you haven't, it's called Unpaid or Underrated.
We're going to give you 6, 8, 10, somewhere.
in that realm, general topics, and depending on how you feel about it, you can use your druthers
and kind of explain to us why you chose this answer, but I need an unpaid, which would be shitty
because no one wants to be unpaid, or an underrated, which is awesome because things that are
underrated equal good, so unpaid or underrated. All right, let's see what I want to hit you with.
Unpaid or underrated. Ooh, Chick-fil-A.
Man, I can't say this is...
so I don't for for to preferences I don't play this like Tanner does it's not do you think it's
what do you think the public opinion of it is I don't give a fuck about the public opinion of it
we're not playing okay is it actually your opinion good or bad and then just the words we chose
it's not a is it considered underrated because it's good at it I I'd simple it down because
people listen and hardly get the other way they play it so especially now it's been like
two years since I think they've played it so
Good or bad.
In that case, we're going to go underrated.
Good deal.
What's the go-to chick-fil-a meal?
It depends.
So, like, you really can't beat the classic, old-fashioned chick-fil-A sandwich.
Sometimes you just, you know, you're in, like, a nuggie mood and just knock out, like, a little quick 20-pack.
You're a sauce guy?
You got to get the chick-flay sauce.
Big sauce guy over here.
I do the Polynesian.
Okay, that's the sweet one, right?
I've had that a couple of times.
It's probably a little healthier, but I'm sure it's still mostly sugar, water, sugar paste.
Yeah, I don't think any of them are healthy by it means.
No, no, fair enough.
All right.
I'm going to try to pronounce this word.
Actually, Lauren, go up to things they hate and tell me what that word is.
Sure.
It's highlighted.
I'm going to call it.
What the fuck is that word?
I'm very curious now.
Oh, yeah.
Is that a word that I should know and it's just spelled weird?
No, it's a brand, I believe.
Okay, I'm going to try to pronounce it.
At least Lauren will be able to help me out when I say it's so wrong.
So unpaid or underrated, Sherkos?
Oh, it's Shirko.
Oh, what the fuck is there an S at the end of it for then?
Sure.
I guess maybe just like referring to a plural of,
of the company Sherko.
So that is a dirt bike manufacturer.
Okay.
Well, that's boring.
But unpaid,
what do you think?
Is it,
is there,
you have a history of that one?
Is that the one you've punched when you couldn't climb Newman Hill?
No,
no.
They're just like,
it's actually a French bike.
And it's just,
they're not that great,
in my opinion.
Yeah,
look,
I learned French and Spanish tonight.
I'm a fucking,
there you go.
Oh,
my goddamn,
would in,
well,
travel.
Update your LinkedIn.
and you're tri-lady will now.
Yep, that's what I was going to say.
Let's see.
Okay.
Hmm.
Let me go back up top here and try to cherry pick something.
Okay, unpaid or underrated Chicago dogs.
You son of a bitch.
Unpaid.
Yeah.
Get that trash out of here.
What is a Chicago?
I don't know what type of hot dog Chicago has.
I don't know what the hot dog actually is.
Yeah, like,
you would know it if you saw it.
Just got a bunch of beans on it?
No, so it's like...
Little sport peppers, relish.
Yeah.
Mustard.
What really grosses me out in tomatoes, which like...
Listen, I don't want a salad.
You know, I ain't eating hot dogs to be healthy.
What really grosses me out about Chicago dogs is like that relish is just like this super unnatural shade of bright green.
Yeah.
disgusting unpaid
interesting
yeah I don't think I've ever
never had a dog I would have never
ordered I mean I don't mind relish
but I don't know all that other stuff sounded
a little too
you know interesting for me but uh I think I'm good
what do you got for in Bigglorne feel free to
use anything in the entire show notes we haven't
highlighted all right
stricken through that is
still doing unpaid and unrated
yeah
did I call it wrong
No, I just didn't know for we moving on.
Oh, no, it's your turn to ask.
Yeah, my bad.
Gotcha.
Sorry, I'm still trying to eat here because I'm at a small dinner and I'm being a fat fuck eating on my podcast.
I'm going to mute myself now.
I'm going to chew.
I've got to put that gym in the mouth.
Diesel trucks.
Diesel trucks.
I'm going unpaid.
Unpaid?
No.
Yep.
And then I do have, no, explain, explain.
I was just saying, I know who said that and why.
But, yeah, just kind of a bit of an ongoing thing and insider group chat thing.
But, yeah, diesel trucks, like, I feel like so many people own them that have zero need for a diesel.
Yeah.
Yeah, all about the towing.
nothing.
And they just want to help their friends move
so they don't have to go to the gym.
That is true.
I love that that's a callback that is so easy to use now.
Think of, yeah, just like how much more effective
moving furniture is than going to the gym.
It's a win-win.
And you can get paid to move furniture,
either by pizza or beer.
That is true.
Or they owe you one.
Yeah, they owe you one, yeah.
I'll get you next time.
I was going to say the only way you're going to get pizza
or beer is if you go to Planet Fitness.
I don't know if they give beer,
but you're going to get pizza if you go to Planet Fitness.
Definitely get bagels.
I know they have a bagel and pizza day.
And then I did have one more that popped out at me.
Modern country music.
Modern country music.
Hot garbage.
Get out of here, unpaid.
Is there one specific that stands out to you?
Or was it just the genre that got popular?
And then you're like, no, this is trash.
So, I mean, I would say like overall, it's, because it's almost everything's the same now, right?
When you talk like modern country music, obviously the biggest defender is probably going to be Luke Bryan.
You know, anybody that like listens to modern country music that I'm friends with, I, uh, what's that one comedian's name?
Is it Bo Burnham that does the, you know what I'm talking about?
Yeah, I mean, I know that comedian.
Okay.
So I'll share a link later.
You guys want to check it out.
But basically, like, he does this comedy skit where he's like,
making fun of modern country music.
And he talks about how it's just like, you know, like a country-ish rhythm beat.
And you're just like saying relatable country words.
And I was like, that is Luke Ryan to the tea.
You know, like climb tree, drink beer.
I feel like he didn't used to suck.
But also, I don't know, it could have.
Maybe he still did 20 years ago or 15 years ago.
He's kind of been that, that like.
Has he always sucked?
Bag.
He's been a punchy bag.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. He wasn't as bad when he first came out.
But, I mean, he's, for a long time, he's done the, like, truck, red dirt, beer canned girl.
Yep.
All right.
Yeah.
That's.
They pass.
I think he passed.
All right.
We'll let him, we'll let him keep going then.
So we'll hear this now.
Yeah.
Yeah, if we have to.
I don't know.
I guess we'll, I mean, if Fort Knox doesn't come find us and shut us down, I guess we have to, right?
Big Matt, you did well with everything so far.
Now the real test is, did you get anything ready for Big Lauren and I?
Are we good to go?
Whatever you want to handle it?
Yeah, I've got some questions.
Now, like we've already talked about and I got beat up for,
I haven't listened to many, many episodes of you and you.
Yeah.
So I don't want to, yes, yeah, of course.
I'm actually going to, when we get done, I'm going to go listen to the rest.
Of course.
I think first you should answer your wife's text and then probably get on to it.
But yeah, you can do both.
She was probably just texting me that she was ready to listen to you and you.
That's fair.
So I'm going to go maybe like a little off and hopefully nobody's asses before.
If you could be an animal, what could you be?
Are we talking real animals or like mythical?
And do I have to be this animal for life?
can I just like be this for a, can I just like,
can I be like one of those dudes that can like jump into an animal and be the animal for like
however long I want to be and then jump back into myself because like anamorph?
Is that a dream walker?
Is that a thing?
There's a thing.
And it was like, I know like different like lores the people can like see.
Skin walkers.
Yeah.
Because he'll like, he'll like just sit there in a trance.
And meanwhile, he's like fucking flying in the eye like a flying in the sky like a eagle or a hawk.
So I'm going to interpret it like that.
Game of Thrones.
Well, this is a fucking.
predates Game of Thrones. There's some like 90 cheesy movies I watch that definitely have the
exact same fucking concept of like, and I'm sure I've read books like that, you know. Game of
Thrones stole it. I got you. Are you thinking of werewolves?
Well, did you have a... Let's say, all right, for the sake of this argument and question,
let's say you have to be this animal forever. Oh, God. Well, what, hmm, what animal has a lot of
sex? Not really. I don't know.
That would, that'd be like, honestly, it'd have to be like what lives, that sounds,
because like, what lives the most either like close to a human life or what's just a solitary life that I don't have to like interact with other creatures because I don't want to live like that.
I don't know.
I don't want to be a fucking animal.
That sounds horrible.
That sounds like the worst thing in the world.
Oh, yeah.
I could go a couple.
No, you go.
I will, I'm going to be a mosquito.
so I can be at every left hard live easy.
You might only make one with how.
I don't know. I don't think they've ever killed one out there.
Ryan can make you a commemorative Keith Mosquito sticker next year.
The Keith head on a mosquito.
I'm going to draw all your guys's blood.
Yeah.
That's a really tough one.
Yeah, I could go a couple different ways.
Do I want to be a solo animal that's just kind of like self-sufficient on their own?
Do I want to be a pack animal, domesticated or wild?
Ooh.
A house cat would be super fucking easy.
That's what I thought you were going to say.
So now that I think about it, yeah.
I can't believe you didn't say that.
Well, yeah, I'm going to rescind my joke answer to Noctaner.
And yeah, I guess I got to be a house cat because my girls have the fucking easiest life of fucking luxury ever.
They're fed multiple times a day.
They're shit scooped multiple times a day.
They're literally pampered.
Yeah.
No, that sounds fair.
So I'm going to kind of go both routes of like a wild domesticated animal that's in showbiz.
And I'm going to go with one of the tigers from Sigfried and Roy.
And that way I can kind of see all the behind the scene stuff.
And then I won't attack them.
So their career could be longer.
Are they both so alive?
I'll do that white tiger.
I don't know.
I didn't do it.
I think one did maybe.
I don't know.
But like it wasn't the one that got attacked or it was.
I can't remember.
I think you just had like a bad face job after.
I could be wrong and I'd feel bad if he died from there.
But yeah, that's my answer.
One of the white tigers from them.
Nice.
So we're both cats.
Yeah.
Didn't even think of that.
You're just a bigger one than I am.
I get fed better too.
I get whole stakes.
And people.
And people, yeah.
It's an interesting question.
I would have, I don't know.
But in general, being a cat.
being any any fucking
giving up the
well also too
do to farther elaborate
am I my brain inside a fucking cat
or am I just like my
my soul inside of a cat
like you know what I mean
like I don't want to because also
I'll maybe I want to have the biggest
fucking brain in the world because I don't want to be a
my fucking cats are dumber than shit
and I like
yeah but if you're that dumb you're not going to know that you're that
dumb yeah exactly but like if it
if it's if it's like my actual consciousness
in an animal that's one answer maybe
I know I've already answered twice, but the more I think about it, the more I'm like, fuck, I don't like any of my answers because I don't like this question.
Because it makes you, do I want to just...
There could be another follow-up question to where, like, do we have, like you said, our consciousness, like, do we know that we were once a human?
Or are we starting from day one, we were a cat and we don't know the human world?
Or an animal and don't know the human world.
But, I mean, I'll be the tiger either way, so...
Yeah, yeah.
let's say for this argument that
that you have
your consciousness that you had as a human.
Yeah.
Then if that's the case,
maybe,
okay,
so what you could,
so obviously you couldn't like be a part of your family anymore,
so I have to give up the life if I know it.
So like,
do I want to go like to,
do I want to,
like what animal,
what's the,
what's the most helpful I could be to the human race
as a large fucking animal
that actually has consciousness
and could live,
live forever. Like, like, what kind of good could, like, was it the sperm whale? It's like the biggest,
what's like the biggest mammal or animal of sorts in the world? And like, could that, could I, like,
save sinking ships, you know, I don't know. Or if I was a big ass elephant, but then you'd have to
get you to get hunted and shit. Like, but I think being some kind of animal where you could do good,
maybe, it would be helpful. But also people are going to be like, well, we're going to kill this
fucking thing because it's too smart for its own good. You're getting killed no matter.
what. And this in this fucking day and age, like, the world isn't going to let an animal be smart
enough to do stuff. Like, this isn't a cartoon. You almost have to live in a cartoon world where you're
like on the fucking A team saving lives is like, you know, this random animal that has fucking
consciousness. This is a weird fucking question, man. I don't know how to answer it, but I think
I've given enough answers now, but yeah, I thought you were going to go for a third animal. But I mean,
to your point of helping your family, I mean, you could be a emotional support cat for your
family? Like, that would be harder.
They'd be so much harder for your, and also
like, can I talk? If I
can't talk, then it's just like, I'm just
I'm stuck. Then I'm just stuck in
the fucking animal body. And I'm trying to like
sit here and like draw on the fucking cat litter.
My name's Keith and she's like freaking the fuck out
thinks she's going fucking crazy. That sounds
horrible. I think I would just be a
fucking fly and die instantly because I'd be the
most horrible fucking existence
in the world if I couldn't be me because I like
my life.
Oh, there's so many weird things to do with this question.
I mean, a domesticated cat wouldn't be the worst life to live.
It would be for fucking me if I have to, like, sit here and watch my wife fucking remarry someone,
and I'm just here a fucking cat in the corner.
Fuck.
Or it would be some other person's house.
Like, they'd be so fucking boring because I could only watch TV when the TV was on.
I couldn't fucking read a book or listen to a podcast unless someone else was playing it audibly.
Like, I couldn't do any of the things that I enjoy in life.
A cat could be trained to turn on a TV.
If they can pee in a toilet, they could turn on a TV.
Chinkie Cat did it.
Gorilla is fucking, I don't know.
It also then like, what animal still works out?
Like a gorilla.
Actually, that'd be cool.
What is it?
Everyone says like the gorilla can have like a like a 5,000 pound total or a 3,000 pound total.
If it like, you know how to live kind of thing.
Just I would just be careful of little kids falling into your enclosure.
Yeah.
Don't fucking shoot me.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, that circles back to no matter what you're getting killed if you're a fucking animal with consciousness.
With a human consciousness inside an animal.
You got to play the slow hand.
You can't let them know you're conscious.
Like just let them think.
your cat and then you can go under the radar and do whatever you want.
Now what's annoying is it.
Do you think Harambe was
a human that?
Yeah.
It was Keith in a different timeline.
He was just trying to help the kid.
I probably wouldn't have tried to.
Yeah, I was not to say Keith wouldn't have felt the kid.
If I just,
so he wanted to be an animal to do good.
Well, if you fucking.
Yeah, but then he said it would be too hard.
You're going to get killed no matter what I think.
Now, what the annoying thing is people are going to like give
like generic answers in the discord this coming week without any explanation or like any
actual thought and it's just going to be like oh there's keith and lauren you had such a hard time
answer this is such an easy question and i'm like no it's not because you're giving up your
entire life you're like you're basically dead and then you have to live however much of a life
you choose to live in this other thing while still having the memory of your own life it sounds like
it's literally hell you described us of how we want to go to hell that's you uh i definitely
do not realize that that question was going to be
as deep as it was.
Oh, no.
Existential crisis.
I don't do hypothetical.
I don't do hypotheticals without like going down.
All right.
To make Keith happy everybody in the Discord, if you participate, you have to have like
at least a minimum 300 word explanation of why you are choosing the animal.
Two sentences.
And then make sure you send it to them one line at a time.
No, it's cool.
That was a fun.
I would say,
what would yours be?
I feel kind of like silly now that we went through that rabbit hole because I was just
going to be like,
cat.
We're all felines.
Seems chill.
So Keith,
I know,
I know you're like on the road and stuff a lot for work.
So I don't know if you,
maybe on the weekends,
but like,
so I do have like the,
uh,
the fortune of being able to come home like frequently.
Like,
so like a typical day for us is like,
So we'll, I get up, like we go to the gym in the morning, like 6.30.
So like I come back home, shower change, make breakfast, all that stuff.
And then go to work.
You typically come home for lunch, go back and then come home again.
So I'm just like, I'm in and out of the house a lot during the day.
And most days, my cat, whatever spot he chooses to be in, because, you know, he always has like a spot of the day.
90% of time he's in the same spot.
I leave at 6.30 and he's like here
and then I come back and he's there
and I come back for lunch and he's there again.
I was like, does this dude even move
like ever?
Need to put a watch on and see how many steps it gets.
My girls are all over the place.
They get the zoomsies and they
fucking chase each other around and shit and
I mean they will disappear
and just maybe be in the room for hours
at a time but there's a lot of
I guess it's both really.
Like I will see him in the same spot for
three hours of time and then I'll also like
just constantly moving.
But thankfully I don't travel as much for work.
I honestly have stayed in the hotel like two weeks this whole year.
It's been fucking awesome.
But also we have like very questionable job security going into next year because all our contracts have like changed and been mostly depleted.
So what fuck I'm going to be doing next year.
Become a cat.
Hey, that's a good segue.
If you want to go into my second question that I had prepped.
Sure.
Yeah, let's do it.
All right.
So talking about me, like soon to get out of the military, and I think that's also set up for a segue there.
What would you say is your dream job?
I like, so my knee-jerk reaction would be like, it'd be cool to get paid to do this.
But then again, like, once it becomes a job, then all the joy goes out of it, but also like compensation for doing the thing you'd
love would be cool. Just getting compensated for like this. That'd be cool. Just to be able to like
put 40 hours into this podcast and social media or something. Obviously that's a touch of make-believe
world. But for like a real life, I don't know, man. I should have gotten to a different trade 20
years ago when I was young enough to go through the shit. I really don't want to be a 45 year old
starting out as an apprentice somewhere. I kind of shit the bet on that one. So I don't know.
whatever gets me home
whatever I can make good money
at and work 7 to 330 or 6 to 2.30
that's my fucking dream job I don't give
what it is I'd shovel shit if it was
80 grand a year for our 6 to 230
yeah that's solid hours
that's my preferred time
I mean I really enjoy having the gym
and doing the training stuff
so kind of
it would kind of be like a
a facilitator for
entertainment stuff so not like an amusement part but I always really like the idea of
back in like dazed and confused they had the the pool hall that they would go hang out at
the Emporium so like I would always like to have something like that that's kind of like
hands-on like they have the games they have the old school games a few arcade stuff but then
have more outdoor
just things on it. So just
a facilitator for like entertainment
kind of stuff.
And just
show up and
make sure
everything's still running.
Something like that.
But nothing,
nothing crazy.
Just something that would be
like timeless and just have fun doing it
and family oriented.
Yeah, that's cool.
What about yours?
He doesn't know.
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, that's something that I also kind of struggle with.
Like you mentioned, Keith, like, so, I mean, an easy answer is, like, the cliche, like, oh, like, do what you love and you never work.
But, I mean, there, there is times where, like, you know, you get into doing things that it's like a hobby.
And once it becomes your work, it's sometimes no longer fun.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I'm not sure.
ultimately my goal, like when I get out, like if I can, because obviously there's there's a retirement pension that comes along with getting out of the military.
If I can make enough money to essentially offset that gap to what I make now, because you only get a percentage of what you make as a military retirement, right?
If I can offset enough to basically match what I make now, like I'd be happy.
You do that with something part of time, you think?
Yeah, I mean, I'd probably go full-time.
Like, I do get, I'll get bored, like, if I ever take leave.
Well, yeah, you got to go part-time, power a little part-time, you know, whatever the fuck gives you like 30 grand a year to split the difference or whatever.
Yeah, for sure.
And it's something that just another thing, too, like, if I'm annoyed, so something that, you know, I've not had the opportunity to do for the past 20 years is like, you know, somebody's like, hey, go do this.
And then, you know, if they outrank you, you know, like, you kind of have to for the most part.
but just being in the position to be like hey like you have to do xyz and like I don't think
I will just see you I no longer work here just move to something else looking forward to
having that opportunity yeah I don't know just something chill a gym for cats
that'd be cool like a man that you pay to work out in that is just it's like the cafe
for cats that people come and like drink tea and have cats around them
Yeah.
But it's like...
I think we just found it.
But you have to,
you'd have to like make shit safe somehow.
Because like,
it's my biggest fear is when the fucking cats are in,
like my cats are so fucking stupid.
Like,
like someone's stupid cat,
as gruesome it is,
probably fucking died in a gym
because someone dropped a dumb belt,
dropped something on it
because the cat was too fucking friendly
and was just right there.
And it,
I don't even want to get into detail,
but for sure someone's fucking family pet
died in a gym before.
So like,
you'd have to make it safe.
So I don't know.
I always like,
I get super sketched out.
Oh, terrified.
I'm deadlifting.
I'm terrified.
And he's like trying to walk towards me.
I'm like,
no,
don't.
Yeah.
And it's almost more that I'm terrified of like my wife would
fucking divorce me more.
I mean,
it'd be really,
really sad.
I killed my cat,
but I'm like equally sad that like my marriage would be over because I
killed my cat.
And it'd be something we should never get over.
Just in the free weight section of the gym just have like cat tunnels that they can
like climb through.
Yeah.
See you from the ceiling and stuff.
It almost have to be like a plan of fitness type to where I'm like.
And then whenever you want to play with the cats,
you go into like cat yoga or.
Yeah.
The cat spin bike, and there's like a cat bed on your bike.
Just don't go in there if you have allergies.
I just wouldn't want to be the dude that had to clean up the litter box.
You'd have to have like 70 fucking litter robots.
Yeah.
Yeah, I was going to say, I just do the robot thing at that point.
Do you have one of those?
We're, we need to invest in one.
I don't know.
We had friends in San Antonio where we lived there that had that and liked it.
We just haven't gone down that route.
Yeah, but.
I need to do something.
That's easier than what the fuck we do.
My list, yeah.
Good questions.
Good questions.
Those were, I don't think either.
Well, the job one might have been a repeat, but if it was, it was from years ago.
And I'm not even upset if we get repeat questions because, like, we've also fucking had a hundred and, you know, we've had 178 episodes, but we've had at least 160 opportunities for someone to ask us a question.
So, like, there's going to be repeats.
And it is what it is.
But I've got this, as long as it's not a repeat from something like two weeks ago, that would be the only thing that's, like, be annoying.
but because my answer my answer to any question that was asked two years ago probably will be different today than it was two years ago. So it doesn't matter.
You're answer to one question today changed.
Three times. In my head, I still haven't answered the animal question to my life. He's going to answer it again in Discord. Oh, for sure. He's like just not going to sleep tonight.
Like, how about a giraffe? I'm going to like, I'm going to get a, I'm going to have to like knock out. I'm going to put like four or five down that are my options and then like write out the pros and cons of each one and then find out which one sucks the least while all time trying to figure out.
remember what the rules were and then keep, you know,
factoring in like humanity and my sense of being and,
oh, God, I'm getting anxious thinking about that already.
I'm not going to do any.
I'm not,
hopefully I don't do any of that because.
Keith want to be a giraffe because he'd be scared if having a sore throat and it would hurt too much.
But if it was like you could just hop into one for a day,
that'd be a different answer.
But I don't know.
Good question, though.
All right.
If you were a giraffe for a day,
and you had to wear a tie, would you wear it like up top under your head or would it be like way down at the base of your neck?
I think it'd have to be at the chin because like my like just under the chin.
But yeah, because if not though, I would look too funny.
You could do that if you work in a circus, but like if you're trying to be a professional like business draft, you have to go out of the base.
I feel, yeah, you're Lawrence.
I think we're talking business giraffe, of course.
Yeah, bottom of the neck.
Yeah.
But it's like, that'd be the biggest tie in the world.
Be so big.
But I think you're right.
I do like when I see those pictures.
I was like, if,
you know,
if a whatever war whatever.
And then it's like the most asinine,
you know,
images of like,
well,
that doesn't look right.
But it technically would be right if you were a human.
Yeah.
There you go.
Good questions.
All right,
guys.
We ready to bring us one in.
Let's do it.
Yep.
All right.
What do we got?
We did all that.
the good stuff. So Big Matt, one last time. Are they going to find you at?
Black Cat Lichten Club on Instagram. La Flama Blanco on the Discord.
All right. Big Lauren, where are you at?
I am on Instagram at Lowe underscore, underscore, Co.
And then Big Lauren on Discord. And then the gym is Wild Iron 361 on Instagram.
Good deal, good deal. All right, boys and girls. We got an Instagram,
Unpaid Interrated Podcast, website, Unpaid Intern Podcast,
com. More importantly, I want you to do all the chit-chatting in the Discord, the U&U channel of
the Massonomics Discord. That's where you can go in there and tell me how wrong I am about my opinions
and my hot takes on this, that, and the other. There was an abundance of that today. Jen brought up a
very good valid point, and one I had never really thought about, and then it proceeded to segue into
like 50 people talking about their mortgage versus their rent and, you know, et cetera. And it was a,
a, it was a lot of scrolling to get through all that. And I was like, oh, I look away for two hours and I come back and there's like 47 messages. And I was like, oh, Jen and I did that, mostly Jen, but all from something I said. It just made me happy. And then a lot of good, a lot of good chat. I always like when people, you know, call out specific things from the episode that they took away. It's good for the guest to get. I mean, it strokes my ego a little bit, but you don't do it for that. Do it for the guests that put, you know, gave us their time to, you know, put themselves out there and open up all their personal details.
So, you know, if you want to go in there and tag them and be like, hey, this resonated with me or I really appreciated this, that, the other, you know.
This is obviously something we do for you guys for free.
It's really cool.
The whole point of it is to come listen, find out about these people.
So when we do the in-person meetups, you know, you can kind of hang out and already know something about them.
So any positive reinforcement you can keep giving this podcast in that channel, it goes a long way for us to continue to bring you the podcast.
and I'm Keith Honey Got 73 on Instagram.
We'll importantly go follow my own or Jim than a whine seller.
Until then, see you next Tuesday.
I kind of fucking rambled there for a minute, but it was valid points.
All right.
Outro is better than the intro.
Safe landing.
Rough takeoff, but safe landing.
Please don't be a dick and include that.
It'd be really funny because you did it to Brandon last week, but.
He needs to even do like the cut, like, sound.
Yeah, yeah, because I was, yeah.
Because I fucked up.
twice too. Back when we used to be
a proper country and movies put bloopers at the
end of the movies. Always the best.
There you go.
I was given, I gave Nate a lot of shit in the
last episode, I think, about how
he doesn't do any post-show stuff anymore. And he's like,
well, usually fucking, you talk about
what to do when you have to pee, and that's about it
in the beginning. And then, because in the last
few episodes we have, I have recorded,
I have stopped recording immediately
because there's usually been, I knew there was
some type of, um,
Greece that I didn't want
recorded for anyone to hear. So I've been
recording, I've been stopping the recording, but I didn't really have any
dirt to talk about this week. So
I want to ask you a question
that it's good. If you have valid, if you have
answers that Nate deems worthy, he can, this can
be post show blip.
So did you see on Jake's
his discord? I think Jen
had asked him a question. Jake had like a Q&A all day
today on Hyden Strength. And
one of the questions was like, what's
your Mount Rushmore of shitty things
your clients do? So do you want to
take a crack at that?
Um,
yeah,
I haven't seen that on there.
I'll have to look at that after this.
I mean,
obviously a last minute cancellation always kind of sucks,
especially if you've had to like move others around.
So like then you have them stacked up to where you can knock out three in like an
evening or morning or something.
So a last minute cancellation always really,
uh,
sucks.
Um,
the,
uh,
the blank stare while you're telling them what they're going to do.
And then,
you're like, all right, let's go.
And then like, what are we doing?
Like that.
After you just spent 90 seconds explaining it in detail.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So I know what clients I can do like more complex stuff with because like I know that
they're going to get it because I'm like not that it's a long explanation,
but if it's like a minute, two minute explanation of something that's we're going to have
to do, I don't want to obviously have to repeat that two or three times just to waste our session
or whatever.
So the blank stare while you're explaining everything.
But other than that, I mean, I really don't have anything else.
It's good.
That's good.
You're not, you know, I imagine there's a different animal when it's the remote coaching,
like the Jake does.
I mean, I obviously does in-person coaching as well.
But we all know him as the remote coach, even though he does it for, you know,
his day job is in-person coaching.
But, yeah.
Well, I mean, his, his, his training.
training is different just because, I mean, obviously people are going to him for like,
uh, meat preps or like, there's a established timeline. And majority of my clients are like kind
of just open ended. It's like, hey, I have an ideal weight I want to get to, but I don't know
when I want to get to it kind of thing. So it's not like, hey, if you go off program or if you
miss this many days, like you're not going to get the results you want. That's not as big of a
problem. But like with his meticulous programming and like, hey, this week we're doing this
percentage, this week we're doing that percentage. Like if somebody's not doing the workouts or
going off program, like you just spent hours meticulously programming and then it's
kind of just all thrown out the window. That was some of his responses back to. Yeah. I mean,
I would have a lot more gripes if I did like nutrition coaching. I've tried it a few times.
And yeah, that is not worth it at all because you put in a lot of.
a time making a meal plan or at least giving them macros and stuff to kind of like hit
and then like their skill's not moving it's like well what are you doing and it's like not that
it's like okay so there's a lot more to grab about on that end of the spectrum for sure that's why i don't
do it fair enough makes sense good question well hopefully if if Nate loves you he'll include some
of this stuff honong
