fellow gamers and welcome to the video gamers podcast.
April is packed with indie releases and we're breaking down the biggest games to watch this month from cozy sims to horror and God games from gecko to gunboat.
I am your host, Ace.
And joining me, he made me scramble last second to put all of this list together because he just couldn't keep his hand out of the indie cookie jar.
It's Josh.
Bro, some of them cookies are real delicious though.
They were some
Giggies are getting better,
man.
They're figuring out the formula,
the recipe.
Brother,
you stole all of my biggest base.
I stole five, Ace.
I stole five was half my list.
What's the recipe?
Graphics and game play,
Josh is like,
ooh,
yeah.
Graphics.
I mean,
to be fair,
the ones I stole all that decent graphics,
unlike some of the games
in your current list,
Ace.
Oh, already
freaking throwing shade.
We haven't brought anything
up yet. And of course, he's just here so he doesn't get fined because as far as he's concerned,
the only game that's coming out this month is Progmata. It's Ryan. Hey, stay out of the red circles.
Please not that. Please order the premium edition so we can get a better voice actors for the kid.
Dude, I listened to that episode this morning because I always just relisten to see how we did. And I got to
part and my whole body
just currying.
That's why I can't play this game.
It's not that bad.
You guys are just whiny babies.
No, I couldn't
even remember what her voice sounded like.
That's exactly what it sounds like.
Ace, you don't need to remember because I
just did it.
I over writ what her actual voice sounds.
Just put Josh's
dude, I should do like a
dub over like where I don't even know what
she's saying.
like the, what was the bad lip readings?
You guys remember those?
I'm going to do a bad lip reading for prognata gameplay, dude.
Oh, well good.
Pragmata bad lip reading.
Why not?
There you go.
I love it.
Welcome in, everyone.
It is time to talk about Indies once again.
To nobody's surprise, it is yet another packed month of games.
I don't think we've had a single month so far that's been low on games, quite frankly.
It's been busy.
There's been so many games.
I mean, who could tell, though, because everyone's just playing Crimson Desert anyway.
And they will be probably for the next seven years of their lives.
I'm not.
Billion an hour game, for sure.
Yeah, no, I'm not either.
Sorry, Crimson Desert fans.
Don't ask me how many hours I haven't Slay the Spire 2 now.
Oh, gosh.
Oh, no.
It's a lot.
It's a lot.
Marathon and Slay the Spire 2.
I see.
That's all I see.
You and Matt.
Dude, those two games?
Slay the Spire 2 or Marathon.
That's all I see pop up.
I'm ready for replaced, boys.
Like, I am at the point where it's like, I need a new game to be excited about.
Like, I'm still having fun with these two.
But, like, I need that excitement, you know, that upcoming release excitement.
Yeah.
Also, I guess I should bring that up right now.
The games that will not be spoken about on this episode to avoid repetitiveness are replaced in mouse PI.
We know they're the big.
We know they're the big one.
Buzz killed, not talking about the big games, man.
I know.
Oh, man.
dumb all ace all he does is look for unheard of hidden gems quote unquote he's not even going to bring him up because not enough rats not enough rats yeah not enough rats and one's literally about rats but okay that's a mouse oh that's true it is a mouse yeah there's a difference
don't confuse the two hold on now bro Mickey's a rat she's a rat you know he's a rat you know he's a rat hey what are you're saying you dirty rat no I'm not you dirty rat all right let's go ahead and get
things started here.
April 7th,
which has passed,
if you are listening
to this when it comes out.
This game is out.
It is a game called
Kulu, Niku,
bowl up.
Oh my gosh,
I said it right the first time.
I cannot believe it.
Wow.
It is a cozy
restaurant management sim
where you serve customers
and rebuild your business.
You get to customize the restaurant.
You get to do
sort of micro games
to cook the food
and things like that,
a la like,
I would say cooking,
cooking mama,
if anyone remembers
those kind of games from the DS.
Nope.
These are obviously,
this is obviously not a game that any of us are super going to be into.
But, you know, why don't you give me your thoughts anyway, Josh?
I bet you can't guess my thoughts on this game, A's.
You know, I probably can't, no.
I actually think this game looks kind of fun.
Really?
Dude, I think a cozy game looks fun.
Listen, when I first started watching this trailer, I was like, bro, I'm out.
But then, like, they started showing all the little mini games with the cutting and
stuff and you have like eight different stations in front of you and it's like some like one you
have to like sear the fish and you have to like shake the butane torch and the other one you're
chopping and you have to like then it's like wipe the blade so it doesn't stick to the next thing
and I I'm a sucker for like little mini games like that and then I was like I kind of think
like I might enjoy this game and I know that that is a shock to everybody in the world
and listen.
I'm not saying I'm going to pick this game.
game up and play it. But like, as I'm watching
this trailer, I'm kind of like, bro, I think I
would, it actually looks kind of fun to me.
For two hours. Maybe.
Maybe, but at least like,
but I, and I felt gross.
I had to go take a shower because
I was like, what is happening to me?
Like, what is happening?
Yeah. And then, but
I, I, dude,
I don't know why. But it didn't
look terrible. I think these. I am
utterly shocked. I need to check and see if pigs are
flying up. Yeah. Right, right. I think
these types are cool at two points. If they're in VR, I enjoy it. Okay. Yeah, the VR ones are cool.
VR ones like this are cool. I've played the kitchen ones or the job simulator ones. And it's just dumb fun and it's
good time. And usually you have friends around that you're playing it with. And then if it's like a
community based one, like let's say you're like a sous chef and you're in a kitchen with somebody
else and your buddies are both and you're sending plates down to him or you know a community
style one where you guys can yell and cuss at each other because you're pissed off because
you're not getting them right that that's really the only two type times that I kind of would
enjoy these styles but I mean it does that you obviously you can tell they put a lot of work
into it and it looks it looks like it'll be the right game for some people you know what you
know what swayed me on this Dave the diver yeah like 100 percent I really enjoyed the restaurant part
of Dave the diver.
Like, it was such a fun little distraction and diversion.
And I think this game, in a weird sort of way, like, reminded me of that a little bit.
And so it's like, I didn't hate this one, believe it or not.
I was so ready, too.
I mean, it's, I will say it is exclusive to PC currently on Steam.
It only has 53 reviews, but it's at 100% positive.
Oh, wow.
Guys, let's just get crazy and deep dive it.
Let's deep dive.
I can't even say the name of the game.
I won't even know.
what I'm looking for, but let's do it, man.
You know, I think it's only like eight bucks.
We totally do it.
Wait, is it really?
Yeah, it's like eight.
This looks like a lot of games for $8.
No, stop. No, what are you doing?
No, stop.
Come on, Ryan.
Let's go, Ryan.
Let's get crazy.
Let's get wild.
I think there's another game, one out of all this list from today that we can pick over this.
Right, it's out right now.
We could play it tonight.
It does also have a playable demo.
All right.
Hop in, dude.
I'll see you there.
Yeah, sure. Ryan's like, Joe, don't wait up, man.
And I'm going to be...
Jolly old troll is John Dunn Marathon.
Yeah, that's exactly what you'll see you later tonight.
Ryan's like, I knew it.
I knew you would never play the demo for a cozy game.
But I'm also going to be adding a little segment to our indie episodes here.
Because I want to know if you guys would wish list or walk away from this game.
Starting with Josh, would you wish listing?
You know what?
You know what?
I'm surprised.
Look, I'm actually going to wish list this game.
What is the name of this game?
Kulu Niku Bola.
Kulunikou Bola.
If you just type in KUL, it shows up.
KU.
Oh, 100%.
There is no.
9.59.
Yeah, it is on sale.
You know what?
It looks so cute.
Okay, I have one major problem with this game.
In the trailer, they make a kebab that is nothing but mushrooms and tomatoes.
What kind of psycho?
What kind of psycho?
If someone ordered that.
Vegetarian?
Hands treat mushrooms like steak, dude.
It's wild and ridiculous.
It's outlandish and crazy, but that's what they do.
Guys, I might download the demo for this.
Yeah, go for it, homie.
All right, Ryan, it's on my wish list to walk.
If anybody doesn't believe me, any of my steam friends, it's on my wish list now.
I'm walking. I'm walking away.
Brian's walking away.
He ain't taking Kulu Niku Bull Up.
Not today.
Josh can play it alone.
Kulunikulap is out now.
it is only on PC, but there is a playable demo.
Say that five times.
I was going to say, Ace just said that so well, and I'm like, you could never do that again.
Kuluniko Bull Up.
Kulunika Bull up. Oh, darn it.
Yeah.
Yep, no.
Dude, I don't know how I keep saying it right, but I'm moving on before I mess it up.
Take it.
Take it with your head.
Now let's move on to a game that's pretty much the exact opposite of Kuluniku Bullup.
It is the occultist.
Oh my gosh, this looks great, guys.
I actually think this looks fantastic.
I was...
Go ahead.
I was just going to say,
I was watching this trailer and my daughter walked in,
and she instantly, within like two seconds
of the room was like, ooh, a horror game?
And I was like, yeah, and she's like,
ooh, this looks pretty good.
And she's like, are you going to play it?
And I was like, no, I don't know.
I probably not.
And then she was like, oh, well, if you do,
let me know if it's any good,
because she thought it looked impressive.
Oh, all right.
Well, that's a good sign, actually.
Yeah.
If the kids like it, that's already a good stuff.
Yeah, we're hip.
We're with it.
Yeah.
But it's a first person narrative thriller where you play as a guy named Alan Rebels, who is a paranormal investigator.
He travels back to an abandoned British island after his father's disappearance to explore it and try to find him.
Ends up facing the supernatural and occult while trying to do so.
It looks crazy as all heck, and I kind of love it.
It reminds me a lot of like the evil within.
Is this just like, what is this genre?
Be like, what is the gameplay?
Is it suspense?
Is it like psychological horror?
I think this is somewhere along the lines of like survival horror kind of like
Outlast like the original where it's just running for your life,
solving puzzles, trying to get out basically.
Like these trailers always look really good but then they don't really do a good job
of showing like what you do in the game if that makes, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, well, I have great news for you then.
This also has a demo currently playing on.
All right.
If you only had one to choose for me to play,
Kulu-Niko Bolup or the occultist,
which one would you say, Josh, I think you should try this.
I genuinely just want to know your actual thoughts on Kulunikou-K-Lah.
That's right, buddy.
What about you, Ryan?
What did you think of the occultist based on what you got to see?
I think it looks really neat.
I love when he takes, like, it's like a piece of glass or a light bulb or whatever that is.
It's like an amul.
Yeah, it's like an amulet, a glass amulet.
It's like, yeah, and he's looking around trying to find, you know, the bean and stuff,
and then, you know, jump scares, which always get me.
I love it.
It's like that, that thing that, you know, that freaks you out, but you want to keep doing it,
makes your heart pump.
I think it looks good.
The graphics look pretty dang good for an indie game.
I think, I think it looks well done.
And the fact that there's a demo, I'll definitely be checking the demo out.
So it's going to be a wish list for sure.
I'll say it has all the things that are scary to me, circuses, clowns.
and ghost children.
So that's all I need to see.
Ghost kids are creepy.
Ghost kids are the worst.
Ghost kids,
they're the most savage every time.
Oh, yeah, dude.
They're ruthless.
Well, kids in general are that way.
So imagine a ghost children.
This is true, actually.
Yeah, that's a good point.
I mean, I got a ginger son and he's,
I mean, he's got no soul, so he's just like.
All right.
Real quick, boys, wish list or walk.
Oh, this is a wish list.
This game is.
I agree.
This is a wish list game.
And good news to all our console players out there.
not only isn't coming to PC, it will also be on PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X and S.
Hey, wow.
That's a win for y'all.
Yeah.
I'm always happy to see when indie games make it to other platforms and don't just get kind of stuck on PC, even though I understand when it happens.
Because, you know, porting's hard.
Yeah.
I can only imagine.
Moving on to yet another horror game.
There's someone here is very excited to keep seeing horror games.
A game called Submersive or Subversive Memories.
Ali's.
Yeah, this is only on PC.
It's a psychological narrative experience that explores memory, perception, and storytelling.
It kind of, it takes place in Brazil during its last military dictatorship as you play
as a character trying to search this place and find your missing memories.
It's very akin to something like Signallis.
If anyone's familiar with Signallis.
I still want to play Signallis, actually.
But here's the difference.
Signallis actually looks good.
to me, I hated
this game within the first four seconds
of this trailer.
I'm with you.
Not only is it ugly
as anything, the animation
of this lady walking around
irritates me to no end,
dude. I don't know what it is.
I thought it did some cool stuff though.
With the shadows being the monster
like you point the flashlight and there's the
shadow. I hate everything about this
trailer. Like I literally
I'll be honest with you.
This is a subversive memory now because I
can't get this out of my head because of
like how much I hate this trailer.
It is ugly.
The color palette sucks. The animations
are bad.
The lady holds the flashlight
with like just her fingertips
instead of like her whole hand.
Like I could go on
for days about how many things
in this trailer irritate me.
I don't know what I did to you, Ace.
I can't even hold the flashlight.
Okay. You know what you did for me.
You stole my indigate.
Oh, she holds the flashlight.
weird and she walks around weird and then at one
point she's checking out the room. Okay
if I'm holding a flashlight
right and I want to look over there
what would you do? You just turn the flashlight. You know what the
lady does? She turns her entire body
and it's like nobody
does that. Yeah.
Well what's that over there? Just
stop it. They did
this trailer's rage bait
is what this trailer is.
All right
Ryan. What about you? You're the same page.
Can I just say ditto?
Ditto's fine
I was like
I was like is this real
Is this real?
No it's rage mate Ryan
It's like it's like getting Rick rolled
It's like somebody shows you this game trailer
Just to tick you off man
If this was 1998 and I was 10 years old
I'd still be like what the
What is this crap?
Yeah thank you
I think the story is good
It better be
I'm saying to try to tell a story like this
That could probably be coming from some you know
Maybe personal experience I don't know
Is a good thing
But I definitely agree
it is a little rough around the edges.
But I also think it has a place for a lot of people
who do enjoy games like Signallis.
Also, just play Signallis.
I need to.
That game looks fantastic and it's still like...
Signallis is really good.
Yeah.
So can I assume, since the occultist and subversive memories
are coming out on the same day, April 8th,
you won't be playing subversive memories.
No.
Gosh, no.
I won't.
If you can count me out on this one.
If I have to watch this trailer again,
I'm going to wind up committing an ax.
Fair enough.
You know what?
Oh, and I guess I won't even bother asking
if you're going to wish list or walk.
No, there's a run.
This is a run.
Is there an opposite of wish listing?
Can I like, I don't know.
Like, I don't know.
What's the opposite of wishlisting?
Yeah, blacklist it?
Can I just be like, please never show me this title ever again?
Yeah, we're not going to blacklist any Indians.
He just sends me an email.
Who hurt you, dude?
What happened, bro?
All right.
Moving on to our next one here.
is a game called gunboat god i don't even know where to begin with this game it is insane
it looks like pop art it is a fast pat fast pace naval combat game built around shoot-em-up mechanics
it's naval where is the water in any of that's a boat that's a boat that's a boat that's a
bro i did not know this was a boat this looks like it's a black that's a boat and that's water the
whole thing is black but with like it is yeah bro did i click the wrong video it's called gunboat
god yeah and i thought it looked really dumb for not having like boats in it because every
no no he's on a boat that's a boat that he's on a boat dude that's like a freaking bullet that's
one of the it does look like the Mario bullets it does look like that i kept waiting for like
you guys are talking about a where's the boat i watched the wrong trailer
No, it's a side-strolling
Liquid shoot-em-up.
I don't know what else you want from it.
This game, look, man, this game also looks.
This game gave me a little bit of a headache,
but I can acknowledge it's a unique.
As the youngsters would say,
this game looks like booty cheeks.
Okay.
You know.
Dude, I like action and chaos,
but this is just like,
this is like somebody just went into Microsoft
paint and picked three colors
and made a game out of three colors in MS.
Paint.
Maybe they were trying to.
going to challenge themselves to make something unique
with only those colors. I'm going to challenge
themselves with unemployment when there's game bombs.
Rip.
Dude, what is going on with me today? I like
the freaking cozy game in these games.
I know. What happened, man? I thought this one was
a shoe in. All that action.
Did you play Overwatch before this, Josh?
I don't know. I'm feeling feisty, guys.
I don't know. He'll be on Overwatch
later, Ryan. Don't worry. I don't know.
I don't think I should play Overwatch
in this kind of movie.
What are not you, Ryan? Where do you land
on boat god um diddo again no you can't i'm probably i'm probably a little higher i like i like
the fluidity of like the liquid chaos of it and stuff i think yeah yeah yeah i think the the floating nature
is something that i would probably like for maybe an hour you know maybe hour or two or just play it
here and there occasionally um it's something that i would seek out but it does look unique i think
it's something for sure different totally hard to tell that it's a boat though
Fair enough.
I will I will concede to the fact it is hard to tell if it's a vote.
But it's not the worst thing we've seen today, for sure.
Yeah.
Definitely not the worst.
But it's the second worst.
We'll give them their silver medal for not the worst.
Yes.
You get not worst game of the episode, Gunbo gods.
Congratulations.
Crazy to say that there is a worst thing.
Well, I don't know.
I forgot about this next game.
I know.
We'll get to that after the break.
after I...
What a teaser.
But Gunboat God is coming out
April 13th.
It has a active demo right now.
It'll be on PC,
PlayStation 5, and Xbox series X and S.
So we didn't do a great job selling it,
but you know,
if you're interested in it,
check it out for yourself.
I think it does have potential.
And we'll get to this other game
that Josh really, really wants to talk about
after this little break.
The moment you've been waiting for is here.

Ryan, send it to me to me.
all I'm trying to read.
Our next game up here is gecko gods,
which...
Yeah.
Sorry, guys.
If that name sounds familiar,
it's because Josh ruthlessly
dunked on this game
the first time it came up.
I would never...
At least that's a boat.
That's a boat.
That's a boat.
Yeah, at least the gecko can
like ride a boat. So, you know.
It's a relaxing,
serene puzzle platformer
where you explore the ruins of an island as a
gecko.
using your gecko powers to solve puzzles.
What's so bad about that?
Can you elaborate what gecko powers are?
Look in your eyeball.
You can grab things with your tongue and walk on the walls and on the
steering my life when they run inside.
Disappear into the hole in the wall.
Dude.
Ryan, why don't you go first so I can just say ditto.
All right, perfect.
I actually think this one
looks kind of nice and unique
and calming.
Say ditto, Josh.
I feel...
This is not intentional, I swear.
No, I actually genuinely do.
I think it would be a cool game
to play with my kid.
I think it would be something fun.
Why do you hate your kids, Ryan?
I don't know.
I told you.
He's a soulless ginger.
I told you this.
No.
He's not allowed to answer that on air.
I love my son.
No, no.
I think it's...
It's totally not, again, something that I would like actively super search out,
but it is a game I could, I could absolutely see just kind of chilling,
kicking back and, you know, playing with, playing with the kiddo and just, you know,
solving puzzles, something, you know, not stressful, relaxing, kind of that cozy game.
Yeah, it's a very chill kind of environmental game, just about exploring the environment and
teach them about gecko powers, you know.
Yeah, gecko powers, you know, just like the wildcrats or whatever.
now Josh do you want to just say ditto?
No.
You agree with Ryan?
I don't, if I caught my kids playing this game, they'd be grounded.
Like, I would just be like, I've taught, I raised you better than this.
Slam there could slam the laptops.
I swear it was a gecko gods.
You can roll a ball as a gecko.
You can ride a boat as a gecko.
You can roll a ball and float in a boat.
Yeah.
Okay.
Is it a boat?
Who came up with this game?
This is the most generic game that has ever been.
a game to where it's like, you could roll a ball with a gecko.
And then you can pull a lever.
Oh, it's going to make money.
It's a 3D platformer.
It's, of course, he's going to big money.
What do we do with people?
What are we doing, man?
You know, and then you made it a gecko, which is the stupidest thing in the world.
Because what's the gecko doing on a boat?
Why is a gecko sailing a boat?
What is a gecko?
Like, any, it's dumb.
He's exploring the ruins of the island.
No, geckos don't do that.
They sit on the wall and they eat bugs, man.
Like, you know what I mean?
Like, that's it.
Hold on.
We play, there's a lot of games out there with these crazy outlandish characters.
Yeah, cats don't put on RPG armor and go into fighting.
Yeah, you know, you can't have a whole house of cats and then go battle them through like.
The geckos in this game aren't even cool looking.
They're just tiny little, they're undersized, stupid-looking little geckos, dude.
This game sucks, and I haven't even played it.
I hope you know you've added gecko hate to your lore now.
No, I like geckos.
I think geckos, the,
themselves are cool. What I hate is seeing
geckos abused and put into bad video
games against their will.
I bet you hated gex. You know what? The gecko union, I'm
reporting this game to the gecko union, dude, because I
guarantee you, they're too cool to authorize
this, dude. Yeah, there's not,
yeah, this is, they did not consent to
use their likeness in such a terrible
video game, and I'm not going to stand for this, man.
They can sell insurance,
but they cannot drive a boat.
Yeah. Absolutely not.
More roll balls. Does not have boat
insurance.
Josh's take on this game is
Geck no.
Geck no.
All right.
Wish list or walk then, boys.
Freaking four-legged walk away
as fast as a gecko can scramble out of this game.
Josh is going to run,
but I'll walk.
I'll walk away.
You're going to walk.
Well, that's fine.
Yeah.
I feel like Ryan just got done glazing this game and then he's like,
and I'm walking away.
Yeah.
No, it was,
it's not as bad as you said.
It's no one near as bad as you said.
I guess I've watched the trailer.
I guess I've watched a trailer.
Does this not look like the most generic?
It's absolutely generic, but that doesn't take it away from the fact that it's...
It's so generic that they had to think of a creature to be the main character,
and then they went with gecko of all things.
And they couldn't even make the gecko look cool.
Where is this gecko hate coming from?
Why do you hate gecko so much gecko rage?
I know.
I love geckos, and the fact that they made this game...
There's an origin story here.
A gecko like freaked Josh out as a kid or...
Yeah, a gecko like
rolled into his belly button one night.
They're on my fence right now,
eating bugs,
I guarantee you.
My wife hates geckos.
They freak her out,
dude.
One right across your foot once in.
They're probably in your pool,
like cruising,
dude.
I don't know what you're talking about.
You got to fish him out with the pool.
Yeah.
But yeah,
Gecko gods comes out April 16th.
There's an active demo right now
if you want to try it.
Comes out to PC,
PlayStation, Xbox,
and Nintendo Switch.
There's probably something there.
Don't listen to Josh.
Check it out,
watch the trailer.
Listen to me
at this point anyway.
This is true.
Sometimes when it comes to indie games
and their looks,
some people just are
turning off their brains.
Call them like I see them, man.
Can't hold me down.
I'm very excited for this next one, guys.
After seeing a extended gameplay trailer for it,
Masters of Albion.
This is a God simulation game
where you build and shape a living world
through your decisions.
You can possess the people
within the world to take on the adventures yourself
and the third person perspective.
I thought it was super unique.
We've seen it before, but I don't think I've ever seen
this much of it.
And I'm very interested in it.
Where do you land with this one, Ryan?
So to me, immediately, I'm absolutely
interested, because it almost looked like an RTS,
like this builder from the top side
where you're building this world. And then on the trailer
you see them just dive down into the character.
And you're like, holy crap, you get to like,
experience your world and walk around and check things out.
Like that's that's so cool and unique to have that option to be able to go in and explore
what you've created.
So I think this one's pretty dang cool looking.
What I've seen so far looks awesome.
The mechanics look kind of sweet.
So I'm waiting to see more.
I'm excited for this one.
Yeah, I think this one's going to be really good.
What about you, Josh?
I know you actually showed me this one, I think, for the first time.
Yeah, ditto.
this game looks fantastic.
Yeah.
It does.
I will say this.
This is not my kind of game because I just get lost.
I don't do well with like city builders and and management sim type games.
But like this game looks fantastic, dude.
Like people should make sure they look at this one because and I swear this game's been done before, dude.
Is this like a repeat or a remake or something?
Because like the hand, like they don't think it's a remake.
Maybe we watched like the announcement trailer where.
they talk about like the floating hand in the world
and they're like oh yeah that's just the hand he helps us out
and stuff but like I swear we've seen this before
but this game has everything dude
it's first fireballs at them yeah dude
it's got first person fighting where you can possess things
it's city building it's upgrades it's like the 4x type game
where you're trying to develop like your economy and your city
and your people and then it's almost like tower defense in a way because you get
attacked and then you have to like throw like
it shows you like throwing mines and spiked boulders at like the enemies and then you're trying to like displace them and you're grabbing villagers and putting him in the way you can even hit like at the end they show you like taking over a chicken and just I don't know why I did that.
I think it's just to show that you can scout out
where the bad guys are and they don't know that you're
like any I don't know
This game looks really really good to me
It's not my kind of game
But I can I can absolutely appreciate
What this game is and this is the kind of game
That a lot of people are just going to absolutely crack out on
And like you look outside and the sun's coming up
Kind of thing because you've just been
Oh absolutely engrossed in this
Yeah this one's going to do really well
And I was very impressed with like how they showed
Early on like you can come
the mines and a house to have someone living there and always being at the mines.
It's like, that's kind of cool that you could just combine all these buildings and you show
them like, they take a rooftop off of a building and put a ballista up there.
And it was like, that's kind of sick.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think this game's going to do great.
Unfortunately, it is PC exclusive, but it will be out April 22nd.
Something to look forward to for sure.
Definitely keep your eye out on Masters of Alba.
I am a gracious god.
I am gracious.
You live because of me.
Take a fireball, fireball, fireball.
I'll assume that's a wish list from all three of us.
Yes, wish list for me for sure.
I'm going to assume so.
Yeah.
I think it was already on mine too, actually.
Yeah, I wish.
Yep.
Outbound.
Oh my gosh, guys.
Did you know this is one of the games in the top 20 wish lists of all time on Steam with 1.3 million wish lists?
Did you call this outbound?
I thought this was camper van there yet.
Camper van there yet.
That's all this is, man.
This is instead of an R&B, this is a camper van.
There's totally different, guys.
We're definitely not copying the success of RV there yet.
Well, I mean, Outbound doesn't really have an end goal.
It's just a highly anticipated exploration survival game
that's multiplayer in a big open world with no actual goals other than just live,
enjoy the scenery, you know, go camping with your friends, set up a treehouse base and whatever.
That's the only thing.
It's just a cozy time to spend with your friends thing.
Oh, I know you hate friendship.
Don't don't even.
I got them.
Yeah, I already know you hate friendship.
I was about to say, you didn't want to drive around on the dunes with me.
Wish list or walk for friendship, Josh.
I'm about to say, I actually think this game looks pretty good.
It's not my style of game, but I can appreciate this game.
It actually looks very good.
I can see a lot of people having fun with this.
I get why it's so wishlisted.
It's just not my kind of game.
But when I watch this trailer and I look at it, I go, there's a lot that works here, man.
It's got progression elements.
You're working together, like you said, you're going on these adventures.
you're just making your own fun kind of thing.
Very chill.
It's got a pleasing aesthetic.
I mean...
It looks to be a massive game, too.
Is it kind of like for you, Josh, like Karen?
That's where I was going with it.
Yeah.
I mean...
See where it's good and it's got really good elements
and there's certain parts that are awesome
and that you can tell are just unique
and people will love,
but it's just not your cup of tea.
Yeah, exactly.
Like I can, like unlike peak where I go,
this game's just stupid.
Like I can go with Outbound
I can go like this game actually looks pretty good
I know it's not my style of game
But I can actually appreciate like all the different mechanics in the game
How well developed this game looks
It's like I said it's pleasing
I wish I could rip it
I can't it's just a me
It's not for me kind of thing
But I think overall this game looks really good
And I will be amazed if we don't see people
In our Discord server playing
Oh I'm definitely expecting to see some
VCs filled with people playing outbound
Where are you in on this?
one, Ryan? What were your thoughts? I agree. I think it's, I think it's cool. It's, it's probably
now something I'll seek out. I mean, maybe if, uh, there's a group of people and everybody's
checking it out and it gets a lot of hype, you know, maybe, maybe I will from there. Because it does,
it has a really cool aesthetic to it. But all it's going to make me want to do is just go out and
just, I can't for real. Like, I'm, I'm, I'm, I kind of figured it would have that effect on you
instead. Yeah. Yeah, that's, I mean, that's, that's what I, that's my favorite thing in the
world to do is just get outdoors and just disappear.
in the wilderness.
So if I'm going to play the game,
I might as well just do it for real.
That's fair.
You know, but I will say that I think it may be
through too many banana peels of Josh and peak.
And then like he just has a horrible hatred for it now.
It almost kind of reminds me of like Raft in a way.
And I loved Raft.
The art style is very similar.
But like Raft, you had a goal.
So I don't know like, you know,
it might have been a little bit nebulous as like what your goal was in
raft.
but like I really enjoyed raft.
So it's like if Outbound captures a little bit of that,
which it looks like it does,
because again, you can build this mobile base,
your van gets you around,
you're looking for cool, you know,
monuments or, you know, points of interest and stuff like that.
Like I, there's probably a lot of fun to be had here.
Yeah, I agree.
I think Outbound offers a lot.
I also just kind of like these kind of games
that offer people who are not, you know,
they're worlds apart, basically.
They couldn't ever go camping.
or on the road with one another
unless they really, really plan to head
for it, it gives them the opportunity to do something
like that together in a virtual world.
You'll go camping with me, Ace.
I will melt
the moment I step into Arizona.
We don't go camping in the summer, Ace.
I'll just want, no, we do.
We just go up north.
Well, yeah, okay, that's fair.
It's a beautiful, beautiful 65 degrees.
Oh, see, yeah, there's great camping up here.
Are you kidding me?
But yeah, the outbound will be out April 23rd.
There is an active demo.
you could play now.
It's probably going to get pulled
as soon as the game drops.
So if you want to check that,
I would check that soon.
Three days before the best day of the year,
just so you know, too.
Oh, yeah?
Is that so?
26.
Fair enough.
Best day of the year.
All right, I'll hold on you to do that.
You better make it the best day of the year.
But it is coming out to PS5, Xbox Series X and S,
switch one and two,
and of course, PC.
So, outbound is there,
if you're interested.
Moving on to something that is definitely not outbound.
Cthulhu the Cosmic Abyss.
Another horror game.
Three for three, huh?
Yeah.
It's a lovecraftian horror experienced, focused on mystery, atmosphere,
psychological tension.
Honestly, it just kind of gave me like dead space underwater vibes.
Is like kind of what I got from this?
I think this looks better than the occultist, dude.
Really?
I kind of do.
I think this looks better than the occultist.
Dude, the trailer looked really good.
They look very, very similar.
Like, tell me how they're different games.
I couldn't tell you because we didn't see any gameplay for either.
They're both like the same style of game.
And the Cthulhu one, to me, looks freakier than the occultist one because of the weird underwater Cthulhu.
I don't know.
Lovecraftian versus the occult.
It just kind of depends what your poison is.
Yeah.
I like Lovecraftian, though, honestly.
So I don't know.
That's fair.
This game looks really, really good to me.
I don't really know what it's about.
But I like the trailer.
Yeah.
Yeah, dude.
It's freaky.
Really, really good.
The freaking music playing while he's, like, descending and it just starts getting warped.
There's like the big eye.
Is that the eye of Cthulhu?
Yeah.
It has a lot of really cool monsters.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Where do you land with this one, Ryan?
Yeah, I dig it too.
I think the trailer, you know me.
I'm a sucker for a good trailer.
If it's got good music.
Oh, yeah.
Yes, you are.
If it's got good music and it's got kind of dramatic scenes throughout it, which this totally did.
Yeah, it's something pretty good.
I do love horse.
Not the biggest underwater game guy,
but,
but this seemed to be a little different,
it kind of in that world.
So,
yeah,
I'm excited,
dude.
I am,
I am a,
a wish list for sure.
This is a wish list.
It's a wish list for me.
Yeah,
I guess I should have asked
if Outbound was a wish list or walk.
I just kind of assumed it was at least a wish list.
Yeah,
it's a wish list for me.
People should,
yeah.
I think you should watch list.
Check it out for sure.
It's worth wishlisting,
even if you're not going to play it.
Yeah.
But yeah,
Cthulhu the Cosmic Abyss comes out on the best day of the year, apparently, which is April 26th.
Is that Ryan's birthday? Is that what that way? Is this got to be Ryan's birthday?
I don't know. That may be a coincidence. That may be a coincidence. That is 100% what it is.
It has an active demo right now. So if you want to do that, you should check that quick because it'll be gone at the end of the month, most likely. It is going to be on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. So, hey, ain't that great?
Good for all these Indies, too, to like get these multi-platform launches. Oh, this is great.
Great. I love seeing this.
You keep seeing it more and more on a lot of these.
Even like kind of the, you know, the quote unquote lower tier ones that aren't as well developed,
they're still getting launches on these other other platforms, which is so cool to see.
And I mean, you know, the more we get, the better.
Yeah.
And this is probably a wish list from all of us, I would guess.
We all think this one.
Yeah.
Oh, this game looks pretty good.
Yeah.
All right.
We're moving on to Echoes of Mora, our final game here.
This is a narrative-driven.
indie with strong potential late here in the month.
This is very late in the month for releases,
so hopefully there's nothing it contends with.
You'll explore a sunken village and discover hidden secrets and objects,
trying to discover what happened to Mora's brother.
It is a VR sort of puzzle-solving narrative game.
Where did this kind of land on you guys?
Hey, this is a VR game?
Yeah, it's a, you can play it in regular form or VR.
It's obviously VR will get you the better experience.
I hate everything about this game too
That's fair
Actually I don't hate everything about it
I take that I'm just like but I really
I have one major complaint and that all the people are just made out of bubbles
Like could you not make people look like people like why are they bubbles?
Wasn't in the budget
They're seeing like echoes of people in the past walking through a sunken village
Every person in this game is made out of bubbles ace
You're not your hands are there
They're like bubbly ghost hands
Why is everybody made out of bubbles?
I don't know, man.
They want you to focus on the story
And not what the characters are like.
I can't focus on the story
When everybody's made out of bubbles.
It's a weird design choice, man.
Like, just, you've got the grid.
Just put some skin over it.
Well, fair enough.
What about you, Ryan?
Where's Echoes of Mora land?
I think Echoes of Mora is more like
Echoes of Snora.
Yeah.
Yeah, down with bubble people.
Down with bubble people.
Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,
now you don't exist.
Blah!
Yeah.
Can you just like swipe through and then they just go away?
Just whoosh and then they're gone?
I like, yeah, let's just get rid of us if they aren't the ghost.
You killed the town elder.
Yeah.
Town elder should have had a body instead of being made out of bubbles.
That was our greatest warrior.
Not no more.
There you go.
Yeah.
Here, I'll make you another one.
I will say good voice acting in this one.
It presents well other than the stupid bubble people, man.
And I can't get past the bubble people.
So this is a walk.
As a walk.
This is a, I'm a walk to.
If I'm going to play like a puzzle game that I'd rather go play like blueprints or there's
a million other games that I'd rather go play than something like this right now.
Not to take away.
I'm sure people are going to like it.
and it's it's you know they put a lot of work behind it again like we always say but um if it's your
style check it out uh but for me uh there's a lot of other in this style or genre that i'd rather
play that's fair that's completely fair is a very divisive looking game i'll say i was not
the biggest fan of the graphics but i wanted to bring it up because it is special to see a indie
game on vr i like to see that sometimes so because it is offered on both PC and
and PCVR via Steam.
Pretty cool. Demo available now.
Apparently, you don't need to rush
to go play it.
But since everyone walked away
from. But yeah,
that is all of our indies for
April that I think you should probably keep your
eye on. Some of them
landed. Some of them didn't.
Don't forget about replaced
and mouse PI people. Yeah, don't
forget about replace. Those are going to be the ones that
steal the show a lot of this, but these are the ones
that maybe if you're hanker in
for like a horror game.
There's some decent horror games on this list.
Yeah, these look, which I'm almost kind of like,
I was out of it for a while,
that kind of world and that genre,
but, you know, after RE9, I'm like,
I want to be, I want to be scared.
Yeah.
It's a fun genre.
It's fun.
I'm the same way.
I don't play many horror games,
but the ones that I wind up playing,
I'm like, this is a fun genre.
It's same when we played like phasmophobia and where, you know,
I love, I love when we find a multiplayer horror game, man.
Oh, yeah.
It's so good.
But, yeah, just.
to recap real quick.
Oh, God, here we go.
That was Kulu, Niku, Bolaup,
the occultist, subversive memories,
gunboat god,
gecko gods, masters of Albion,
outbound, Cthulhu the Cosmic Abyss,
and Echoes of Mora.
All of those games are coming this month.
So exciting month for Indies, to be sure.
Check them out.
I'll also, I'll put them all in the description for the episode.
So if you want to see them,
just look down and they'll be in there.
And I don't say wishlist or walk just to get, you know, an opinion of yes or no.
Wishlisting is very important for these games.
It means a lot to these developers.
It gives them a lot of data they can use to kind of show other publishers and things like that.
That there is want.
There's interest in their games.
And it costs you nothing.
If you decide not to buy the game, that's fine.
If you wishlist a game, you help a developer and you did it for free.
And it feels really good.
Just as easy to remove a game off your wish list.
It is just as easy to remove a game off your wish list.
And, you know, unfortunately, there's no way to blacklist games like Josh wishes, but...
You know what?
Watch the trailer, people.
The link's going to be in the episode description.
