Aww, this is family friendly show paul that's not what i meant but uh that's all i gotta say about that okay fair enough and then joining us i'm going to be detonating eight drop near spears on them at a time today it's michael why i get the weak one of all of all of the three god of war ragnarok weapons i get the one that nobody likes probably because i said i liked it a lot and i was the highest on it of all of us that's probably why i'll take it drop near that's honestly where i got the weapons i was thinking which ones did you both like from god of war and that's what i drew

from all right well uh dropping here is not on my list today oh fair enough all right, Josh, in case there's any listeners out there who have never listened to one of our bonus round drafts, you want to tell them how these work? Well, number one, welcome to the greatest gaming podcast in the universe. We're glad you're with us. Stick around. We promise you're going to like this show. So what we do is we like to have some nonsense episodes from time to time, always gaming related. And we have come up with these draft type episodes where we basically take turns drafting things from a certain category, almost like a fantasy football draft would.

And so we will each draft. Today, we're going to draft the best weapon. So Paul will go first. He will make a pick. Then best weapon uh so paul will go first he will make a pick then i will go then michael will go and then we reverse the order just to keep things fair so michael will go then i'll go then paul will go and we'll just do the whole draft like that to try and pick the best weapon in gaming and then what we're going to do is after we have drafted our teams we're going to pit them head to head together in a tournament bracket type format until we crown one weapon the weapon supreme for king weapon the episode where we have said this is the best weapon in gaming only because my picks lost and you know

you might hear some whining from me or shenanigans from michael or something like that nobody on this show will whine if they're a big loser or anything like that well hey and also we did pick the best weapon of 2022 in our awards show but this is the kanye style this is the best weapon of all time it sure is and for this draft our order in round one is going to be me and then Josh and Michael. We always do these snake styles, so it will reverse on the way back in round two, and then we'll go until we each have four picks. Now, I gotta say, this is kind of a rough one, having the number one overall pick. I feel like Michael might be in the best spot. He gets to do

two out of the first four picks. How are you feeling about getting the turn on this one, Michael? Oh, I'm feeling like the Snack-a-Snack is very kind to me today. It's a very good Snack-a-Snack. I'm a sweater, a little Snack-a-Snack. Now, I have a question for you guys, because I don't really know exactly what we mean by best weapon. Are we talking like the strongest weapon the most iconic our personal favorite what do you guys envision for this one no it's the best one yeah just the best the best dude

this is the best one all right of all time the best one of all time though that's here's here's what i will say in regards to at least how i approach this is what weapon was just absolutely a blast to use or to play in a game to say, hey, when I was using this weapon in this game, it was fantastic. It was so much fun. I'm sure that there's somebody out there that knows what the strongest weapon in the gaming universe is. It's like, oh, it's the Death Star from Battlefront 2 or something like that. You know what I mean?

Where it's like, no, that's not really what we're going for or at least i'm not going for um you know so it's it's more just i didn't necessarily go iconic um although you could make an entire you know show about what what are the most iconic weapons in gaming i just kind of went with what weapons did i have the most fun with, or I think were the most memorable in games that I've played? Yeah, I took a similar approach. I had to make it so the game was usable, because there's weapons in games that are like, you don't use them. The Apples of Eden from the Assassin's Creed series were used to control minds and do all kinds of crazy stuff. And Elizabeth I, Akhenaten, Napoleon got their power with them. But you don't use them as the assassins so i'm like i don't want to

include that because i wanted to make it something that i had fun using myself um and so yeah not necessarily iconic um although there's some iconic weapons on here i just actually i just came to win i'm like when i say my weapons you're gonna be like oh that's a good one and if i get that's a good one from both you i know I have won this draft. I almost feel like in hindsight, we should have made this the most fun weapon draft, because I almost feel like that would be more exciting, as opposed to just labeling it best. I kind of tried to walk that line between what's fun, but what's the most effective weapon.

So for example, if Josh was running around with the real-life Blades of Chaos, and Michael is running around with the Dropnir Spear, like, Michael's gonna win that fight nine times out of ten. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. No offense, Josh. Okay, wait a minute. Number one, how much martial training do you have, Michael?

Well, we're assuming that if we're both using these weapons, we are very proficient with them. However, I want to watch you try to swing the blades of chaos without smacking yourself in the face like nine times. Whereas I can throw a spear. I am going to spin like a top, buddy. At least 10 seconds before I get dizzy and fall down. It's going to look great while you do that from 10 yards away while I'm checking spears at you that are made from my ring and I got unlimited ones. Power!

I don't know what that noise was, but it means winning. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I kind of feel like in this draft, I kind of leaned a little more into the range weapons, because I feel like, in general, range is going to beat out melee. But we'll see. There's a lot of really fantastic melee weapons. I've got a list of, like, 14. I think you guys said you have a list of like 12 to 17 weapons we'll make sure to leave a little bit of time at the end for some honorable mentions to cover

so uh anything else to talk about guys or should we just hop right into this one let's do it you just gave me a question though when we go head to head on these is it like the situation that you just said where if i've got a weapon and you've got a weapon because like it's gonna greatly change how i order my list because like okay if i've got like a drop near spear and josh has blades of chaos i'll probably beat him even though blades of chaos are way better okay i don't know where you two came up with this that i would lose with the blades of chaos thing but i'm really not digging this guys what's what's the range of the Blades of Chaos? Like 10 to 14 feet? Something like that?

Michael's throwing detonated spears from range. He's going to win. We have both seen Michael's aim in action. There's no chance that Michael would win this duel. You know what? Okay, listen. So I aim with my right hand on a mouse when truthfully is I am left-handed. And I would throw the spear with my left hand. If I could use with my left hand i would be much more accurate is that true are you

left-handed michael i don't i am i am left-handed yes wow i did not know this i feel like i should have known that yes all right well let's start guys i oh i don't even know what to do here with the number one pick i've got so many options that i think are fun but kind of labeling best is really rough i really don't even know what to take here oh i know mine i'm i'm just gonna go ahead and lean a little more into fun weapons i'm probably gonna lose this draft but i don't care i'm i'm gonna go the fun route i hope you lose i i'm just gonna save the gravity gun from half dang it paul i know you too well paul you know i was gonna take this i knew you were gonna take it man i it's literally the number one at the top of my list that i was gonna take i was like paul is gonna take this there's not a world where paul doesn't take the gravity gun

but man if this falls to me at the second pick i am going to dance around a little bit so what kind of ammo does the gravity gun use all energy anything is a bullet yeah uh people are bullets uh pies if you want to shoot a pie at some pie in the face you could do that yeah yeah you can rip tvs off walls and shoot them with the gravity gun i mean half-life 2 we've we've really sung that game's praises in the past i think you can make a real case that it's right up there for greatest game of all time. If you're going to make a top four Mount Rushmore, a lot of people are going to throw Half-Life 2 on there. And a lot of it is because of the fun

to be had with the gravity gun. So I love the versatility. I love the fact that in Half-Life 2, you had destructible environments for the very first time. You got to just wreak havoc on everything around you. I don't have to worry about running out of ammo. It's unlimited. It's range. I think it's fun to use. So yeah, I had to lean into the gravity gun. And now I'm going to have to wait five more picks until I get to go again.

So this might be my best bet to win. Although I will say, I do have one Dark Horse candidate that I'm probably going to take in round three. And I think that one might have a Dark Horse chance to make the final four or so. But we'll see. I hope it's not my Dark Horse. We'll find out. I'll take mine in round two. I'm feeling like I'm out of place because I don't have any horses, guys.

Just got good picks for weapons. you gonna draft roach from the witcher i will say the gravity gun was going to be my first pick as well it is rare for a game to nail a weapon that is not inherently deadly you know what i mean like the gravity gun by itself is not a deadly weapon it's it's what you do with it that makes it deadly. And that was the beauty of the gravity gun is you could literally turn anything into a weapon. The physics of Half-Life 2 lent itself to using the gravity gun in so many fun ways. I mean, they'd give you saw blades at one point

that you could pick up and be like, oh, this is going to be great. You're flinging trash cans at things. I mean, it really just felt like a really unique, neat weapon. So I think it's a great pick, Paul.

Thank you. I'll, I'll take it. I think it's a great pick because I have a very strong argument against it, which I'll use later. Yeah, that's fair. I mean,

it's not, it's not going to be the strongest, but I think it's incredibly fun and I think it'll do. All right. I, I, I fully expected to make it out around two, but we'll it's incredibly fun and I think it'll do all right. I fully expected to make it out of round two, but we'll see. All right. So gravity gun is off the board. Josh,

coming to you, what's going to be your number two overall pick? I didn't want to be predictable, guys. I really wanted to pick the gravity gun. I really did. I was going to pick it over this, but now that it's my pick and the gravity gun is gone, I have to stay on brand. I have mentioned these weapons many a time. This has come up a few times in some of our bonus episodes and listener questions and stuff like that. Paul, you knew I was taking this one. It's the Blades of Chaos.

Fair enough. Dude, I love martial weapons. I love God of War. I love the idea of any kind of weapon that's at the end of a rope or a chain. It just seems really gnarly to me. I don't know if you guys have seen some of the ninja stuff where they have that little dagger at the end of a rope. It's got a little red ribbon on it. Dude, if you've seen somebody use one of those, I would turn and run away.

Legitimately, if somebody starts swinging that weapon weapon i would just be like yo i'm out man i and that's basically what the blades of chaos are i love the fact that there's this mystique around them like even in the rehash god of war uh you know you've got the the the dwarf guys that are like hey who made those weapons for you you know um and i you know they they're just freaking cool man there's the scene in god of war 2018 where you unearth the blades of chaos that scene still gives me chills to this day um i just i cried no joke i cried like emotion like not sad or happy but like just power tears like oh it's such a powerful moment. I legitimately cried when I, when that part happened.

Yeah. Well, he had to dig them up to go to Helheim. And when he starts, you know, you hear the old Greek Olympic music pumping in. Yeah. Such a great moment. um so like i said i just i also the i'll touch on this one more time because the mystique behind

these weapons you've got brock and sindri who are dwarven blacksmiths for the gods basically and they are like who made them weapons those are really neat like you should let me take a look at those sometimes so i'd like that like that aspect of it too that these seem to go above and beyond like what weapons of gods use at the same time so blades of chaos over the leviathan axe because we've always kind of said they're kind of like no one a one b but there's a clear one a and then there's a one B. Fair enough. I absolutely am enthralled by the Leviathan Axe, but when you get the Blades of Chaos and God of War 2018, you're like, oh, it's on now. Yeah.

Also, it's funny. You mentioned the ninja types that have the rope with the sharp thing at the end. Jackie Chan was really good at that. I love watching Jackie Chan do that with a rope and a fishing hook on the end of it Chan was really good at that. I love watching Jackie Chan do that with a rope and a fishing hook on the end of it, and he's just swinging it around. It's just a nightmare. I love it.

It's impressive. It really is. All right, Michael. You get to shine here, buddy, two in a row. What are you going to go with? Well, I'm going to make a bad choice with one of them, I'm sure. By the way, I'm so happy that neither one of you guys have picked one of this yet, because if anybody picks a lightsaber i'm not voting for you we learned

from the olympics okay that i'm not voting for a movie weapon in a video game so if you guys pick a lightsaber just don't take it off your list because it's not gonna win it's not on my list you don't have to worry about that good you know what's not on my list was the leviathan axe i'm sorry the blades of chaos you know why because i on my list was the leviathan x i'm sorry the blades of chaos you know why because i knew they weren't going to follow me with josh right in front of me but what was on my list though is absolutely uh the aperture science handheld portal device from portal one and two uh the entire game is basically based around this air quote weapon it's still a weapon i know it's what i love about it is again you talk about the

fun how much flippin fun was the portal gun right such a unique idea uh the weapon is almost like a puzzle in its own right and it's probably one of the coolest weapons in the game because it's not a weapon that actually causes direct damage but it's definitely still a weapon so is it yeah absolutely i can tell you it's a weapon because every single list i googled had it on there yes it's a weapon kill me with your portal gun michael oh that's easy i'll make you vomit we have we talked about it a long time ago i'll put a portal on the ceiling portal the floor you'll fall through it infinitely until my floor my floor is the area where you're not allowed to put a portal. But not your floor. No, I am looking at your floor on my camera. I can put a portal there.

No, no, it's the gray walls. You got to fling someone off like a roof or off a cliff. That's how you're going to kill someone. It was on my list. I just want to troll your pick, Michael. Right. Because it is a great weapon. Yes, it is a gun.

It's super fun. Arguably the most fun. Yes, honestly. It's right. Yeah, it's epic fun so another really fun pick that is not gonna win um but i i cannot pass this up with my second pick because if i don't walk away from well there's two more things that i want to walk away with one of them this one is let's i'll tell you what guys let's let's take an assault rifle just a normal assault rifle right

you know what make an assault rifle way cooler is if you rifle, right? You know what would make an assault rifle way cooler is if you put a freaking chainsaw on it. It has a chainsaw for a bayonet. Obviously, the Lancer from the Gears of War series. I mean, when this thing came out

like there's nothing super crazy epic about the rifle it's a good rifle it's a good multi-purpose weapon but how much fun was it you're shooting you're shooting and then it shows you you can push like the x button you're just like you saw right through the locust horde with this chainsaw. There was an entire battle one time where my buddy was picking people out with sniper rifles. And he's like, what are you doing? You're going to get us killed because it's a two-person game. And I'm just rolling around there. He's like, how many things did you just kill with a chainsaw?

And I'm like, I didn't shoot the rounds once. It's just so much fun. Had to put it on the list. So I think I went with two really fun picks starting out. It was high on my list, to be honest. i don't know that i would have taken it next but if you didn't take it after that i would have snatched that up for sure yeah i got i got a long time to wait though so i got you guys you do more picks so i had to take it now because i wanted it and i hope the next one comes around that i want later but those are my picks i like them i remember going through

gears of war co-op with my buddy andrew mckinney and he would always sit back kind of like you were saying michael he would sit back a little more and i would just stand right next to the craters that would open where all the bad guys would come out and i would just already be revving the chainsaw so as soon as they hit the point where they were damageable it was just chainsaw straight to the head and just kill as many as i could with melee it was it was glorious i love it well and you mentioned earlier paul like you said melee or range and i instantly i knew that was on my list and i went why not have both yeah yeah fair enough yeah that's a good point yep i don't like that michael's getting better at these

drafts you like the old michael i was going to say, is Michael going to draft the elite dangerous default ship guns or something like that? Right. I like a medium hard point, please, for $10,000. I really was waiting for him to say Aloy's bow right here. Which bow

though? Do you want the tripcaster, the quiltcaster? Do you want the hunter's bow? Do you want the warrior bow? Which one do you want? That's why I didn't pick that. Hunter you want the hunter's bow? Do you want the warrior bow? Which one do you want? That's why I didn't pick that. Hunter's bow? Come on. The hunter bow is the long bow.

Yeah. Yeah. But you don't shoot fast with it. You shoot real slow. I don't need to shoot fast if you shoot really good. Well, yeah, that's true. Well, coming back to you, Josh, are you going to take the skull and bones cannons? He's just full of burdens.

Is Paul seeing my list? what's going on here man looking over your shoulder paul just remember that in skull and bones you've got cannons you've got medium cannons yeah you've got long cannons yeah you've got cast iron cannons you've got metal cannons you've got shrapnel cannons you know because shrimp gumbo the only way we're saving this game is if we add more cannons, guys. The more cannons, the better. Oh, man. Nope. My pick.

This one's an easy one for me because I've got to take it here because I don't think it will make it. But that is the BFG 9000 from Doom. It's on my short list of 17 choices. Dude, when we talk about pure fun and cackling anytime you get to use this weapon. Like, there is nigh a weapon in all of gaming that is equivalent to the BFG. The first time you get the Bfg and you get to use it and it obliterates everything in a room and these are not trash mobs like it's it's obliterating i don't even know what the big fat dudes are called anymore you know but like the guys that you really had to watch out for and those guys just melt you just giggle like you couldn't believe. And they have

carried the BFG through all of the Doom series. Doom Eternal, the BFG is just as good as it was in the original games. I freaking love it. There's not many weapons where you have to limit the amount of ammo you give somebody because the gun is literally game breaking in that sense. So every time you get to use the bfg it is just so rewarding it's an iconic weapon it's a fun weapon it just it fits every category for me what does bfg stand for big freaking gun they are they put a giant yeah this is the og overpowered gun right like this is going real old school This is the first game I think that ever had a real overpowered weapon. Well, and if you take it and it's a component of the BFG 10,000 from Doom Eternal 2, which makes it like an upgraded gun.

Yeah. What a good pick. I love the BFG. That's a good pick, Josh. I like it. I did too. It's on my list. Yeah.

It was definitely on mine as well. All right. Coming back around to to me it's been a minute i finally get to add something on top of the gravity gun and looking at my list here i'm kind of happy this one fell to me i don't know if it's really on either of your guys radar because i know that you both preferred golden eye to perfect dark but give me that farsight xr20 sniper from perfect dark you guys remember the farsight one that could see through walls where you could see somebody hiding behind like the pillar or whatever is that that one it could see shoot and one shot kill anybody on the map uh yeah if you played perfect dark multiplayer you always had to turn off the farsight because it was just cheating it was like an automatic 10 kills if you had 10 bullets it's it's like

a hacking widow in overwatch pretty much yeah see through walls that's exactly what it is see i played some perfect dark but i was much more in the GoldenEye train on that. And so it's like, I don't remember a whole lot of Perfect Dark. I do know that a lot of people said, hey, this is actually a better shooter than GoldenEye, even though GoldenEye was way more popular. But I was all about GoldenEye with my buddies at the time. So I don't remember a lot of Perfect Dark. Oh, Perfect Dark was the better game.

Oh, I mean, and that's pretty universally said, too. Yeah. The expansion pack and being newer, it built on what Goldeneye did first, right? So, you know, Goldeneye is the trailblazer. Perfect Dark built upon it. The Farsight, anyone out there who played knows exactly what I'm talking about. I also really got to give a shout out to the laptop gun in perfect dark because if you are a potato aimer like josh uh michael oh that's all you had to do sorry josh that whoa don't mess us up the laptop gun you could just chuck it onto a wall and it

lists of best weapons and i did not see this on the list anywhere. And I think it's a very good choice because not only does it let you kill anything immediately, it also makes you completely invulnerable. I'm going with the star from Mario Brothers. Oh, interesting. Is that a weapon or a power-up? I don't know if that's a weapon. Of course it's a weapon.

That's a power-up. It's a power-up. Are you chucking the star at somebody? No, I don't know if that's a weapon. Of course it's a weapon. That's a power up. It's a power up. Are you chucking the star at somebody? No, you don't have to. You're running into them. I don't know, Paul. I feel like that's a power up, not a weapon. I mean, you can draft it because I won't vote for it at that point.

You would never vote for it because you'd say it's not a weapon. It's a good choice. it does make you super powerful i mean getting the star was great i just don't know doesn't the star make mario the weapon fine you guys are fuddy duddies i'll draft something i mean no no no no i like it i like you can draft the star no i'm not drafting that josh said he's not voting for it no matter what why would i I take it? I don't know. Josh, he's about to take both of our next picks. It's cool. I'll just let him have it.

I know. It wasn't on my list even. What wasn't? The gold star. No, I'm not taking that. No, it's not on my star either. Yeah. All right. I'm going to go with the...

It's probably not on either of your lists, but I'm going to go for anyone. This is going to backfire, and he's going to take one of mine now. He's going to take the pick that wins right here. This is going to backfire and he's going to take one of mine. He's going to take the pick that wins right here. This is the winner. This won't be on either of your picks, but it's very effective at being a weapon. I'm going to go with the Experimental Merv from Fallout 3. This is the gun that literally fires eight tactical nuclear bombs. Yes, it is on my list and I hate you.

So yeah, Experimental Merv, eight nukes are coming straight for your face it's a good weapon man because i had i had the fat man on my list which is the lesser version yeah the lesser version the more common version and that was literally my next pick was the fat man that was you can still take before the show before the show when i said i wanted to leave with one weapon that was the weapon i wanted to leave the draft with. All right. Well, experimental Merv, I'll go ahead and take here. Yeah, I just love the idea. It just sounds funny to fire eight nukes.

Like, if one nuke's not going to do the job, do you really need seven more? Probably not, but this is going to be a little bit of overkill. So, yeah, I'll go ahead and take that. And who doesn't love Fallout? They've got some great weapons in the series. That's very true. All right, coming back. Yeah, go ahead and take that and who doesn't love fallout they've got some great weapons in the series that's very true all right coming back yeah go ahead what oh boy okay so guys i'm taking the first non-specific weapon weapon huh okay what does that even mean like

a rocket launcher something that's exactly what i'm taking, Paul. Because rocket launchers in gaming are one of the most fun weapons to have. First, get a job. Patrick, that's a rocket launcher. Yes. I remember back in the days of Quake, Unreal Tournament. I'm pretty sure Quake is what made the rocket launcher what it is today and if you got the rocket launcher in quake you were wrecking people it felt so good to use but at the same time you had to know how to use it because there is a flight

time and an explosion radius and all that stuff but people that got good with the rocket launcher could just decimate everybody to where it became a race like you mentioned paul to get the rocket launcher before the other team does and i mean it it has just carried through gaming history from the early early days of gaming and so while there is not a specific rocket launcher in this case just the category of weapon i think nails all of the criteria that i want is it powerful yes it is is it fun heck yes it is um is it you know does it require some skill but easy to use as a beginner like yes and yes you know it just checks all the boxes for me i I mean, they're still having, look at Pharah in Overwatch. You know, it's just super fun. Now you have to deal with the flying and stuff like

that. But rocket launchers have always been that like pinnacle of weapon that you want in a game. There's a reason why whenever you would play Halo, whether it was with your friends or online, everybody knew exactly where the rocket launcher and the energy sword would spawn and you would just fight other people just for the chance to get the rocket launcher and you kind of had the timer in the back of your head and you knew when it was gonna come and i even remember specific maps like i remember playing so much halo 3 and i remember on one map exactly where it would spawn and how much i would just like hide with a sniper try to kill people and then rush for that rocket launcher and you knew it was good for at least a couple multi

kills but yeah who doesn't love rocket launchers i mean grenade launchers are fun rocket launchers are certainly better way better yeah we we used to play sometimes in golden eye because you know you could you could tinker with what you wanted to do. We would do rocket launchers only and license to kill. And it was mayhem. Because any damage on someone, it's like we'd go around the temple, and it's like you couldn't, nobody could really win, because there's so much splash damage just everywhere. Just people just walking in a room, just boom, boom, boom,

and everybody's dead. And then, of course, in Goldeneye, if you kill yourself, it removes a kill. So it's like you got a death. And people would end with, like, I won because I had negative four kills. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I remember a lot of matches being like that.

Yeah. Good pick. I like it. Rocket Launchers are fun. And, yeah, very generic pick. But it's a strong one. All right, Michael, you actually get your last two picks now of the draft.

I really wanted to leave with Fat Man. Now I can't because you picked a better fat man yeah um i like michael's star from mario is available i think lightsaber uh i do have a lightsaber pick it's not a lightsaber um i really think i should go with it though do i want to go with that i okay when you think of a video game weapon right and you think of like if if you have this it once someone sees that you have it they instantly get pissed off i think that's a great weapon and the best version of a i have one you hate me now weapon is the spiky shell or the blue shell from mario kart okay it is the most evil thing on the planet um it is the most fun thing if you have it if you don't have it and you're in first place you are angry and i know that i know paul already i almost didn't pick it because i'm like he already did a mario kart or a mario thing

yeah but the blue spell the blue shell is evil if you're in first place and you see someone on the screen has that you just instantly hate that person because think about it this way if you could be in a shooter game and you picked up a weapon in that shooter that says i instantly win right now it's the equivalent in mario kart like it's like i instantly win i won because i shoot this thing off and the person in first place is now back in fourth place so i'll pick that because i really have i have a strong thing for it um man the last pick though the very last pick i have a hilarious pick but it's absolutely not gonna win but neither is the spiky shell even though it should it's it's it's top five for sure uh top five of our 12 draft um

i just i gotta go with the holy hand grenade from worms oh okay fair enough i gotta do it it's so hilarious talk about fun when you shoot the holy hand it's a little tiny hand it's a little yellow ball with like a cross sitting on top of it like like a pope's hat. And you throw it. And in Worms, you have the different weapons that blow up part of the screen. The holy hand grenade takes out a quarter of the screen. It's gone. And anything in that screen is decimated. And when you throw it, it pauses and you get this slow motion of, Hallelujah!

Holy! Kaboom! And it's just so much fun. Hallelujah! Kaboom! And it's just so much fun. I had to pick up my last pick. That was my dark horse, Paul, was the holy hand grenade because it's so hilarious. It's so much fun. And dang it, judging by the blank look that was just on

Josh's face a minute ago, I really wish I didn't go with the blue shell. I wish I didn't go with the blue shell. I wish I wouldn't go with the lightsaber. Then I'll go with my honorable mentions. So I'll talk to you guys about this. Wait, weren't you the one that said if anybody picks a lightsaber that you're not voting for that? It's not a lightsaber.

It's a weapon that's like a lightsaber. Oh, okay. I got you. But it's definitely not a lightsaber. The whole thing, the reason I had the stare, Michael, is because the Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the funniest movies ever made, my opinion what's the count and on the on the hand grenade first shall thou take out the holy pin then shall thou count to three no more no less three shall be the number thou shalt count and the number of the counting shall be three. And the effect of that grenade is pretty poor when they actually throw it that's what i love is like once you finally get the payoff it's not even that good of a grenade no but don't worry it's a cute bunny rabbit yeah yeah it's a cute bunny rabbit all right i like it holy hand grenade from worms by the way i'm gonna say worms is

criminally underrated these days absolutely it was one of the best multiplayer experiences being able to battle your buddies in worms i feel like a lot of people 20 and under probably never played also i've never played worms so much yeah i know yeah i don't i i know the game i don't even know what you do in it oh so yeah basically what you do is you randomly get weapons so everyone it's turn base you start on each side each person has like two little worms and they just randomly get a weapon a grenade launcher a little rocket launcher a grenade something like that and they try to basically make the other person like it's like an anthill you try to get rid of the anthill and make the other worms fall through the floor and that's why the holy hand grenade was so incredible because it like when

you got it it took out like a quarter of the screen it was by far the best weapon in worms it was extremely rare when you would get it but uh it was hilarious because of the effect of the hallelujah and the fact that it just pissed everybody off. Yeah. It was really fun. Cause you would have to aim and click and let go. And that's how much power you had. And sometimes you would completely whiff and you would shoot nowhere near the enemy team, or you would accidentally tap the mouse and then you drop the Holy hand grenade right at your feet.

And then you die. Oh yeah. Yeah. But worms was honestly, I'm not a huge turn-based fan. I would probably say worms is my all-time favorite turn-based combat because it was just a lot of fun building that anticipation and watching your buddy and seeing whether or not that's going to come land on your head or

if they're going to miss yeah and when your buddy whiffs it it's the funniest thing ever because you think you're done you're doomed you're gonna die and then he whiffs it and he blows himself up and you're like you're an idiot oh yeah there's this a lot of ricocheting of weapons that could backfire and end up hitting you all right coming to you josh last pick for your team what are you going with oh man there's there's a lot of good ones still there's a lot of really good ones i have i have one i'm not gonna pick this and i'm just gonna mention it right now because I can't imagine that Paul would take this. But this is actually one of the coolest weapons in gaming, and it's called the Cerebral Bore.

Oh, yeah. I almost picked that as my last pick. That weapon was so cool. I'm not picking it here because nobody knows what that weapon is. We just talked about that. Was it on the Squadcast? I think I brought it up. We brought up Turok, but not specifically the Cerebral Bore.

Go back and listen. I bring up the cerebral bore in the episode. Do you really? Yeah. Kudos to you, man, because I absolutely mentioned it because I was like, cerebral bore.

Disturbing idea, but cool weapon. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm going to go with an iconic weapon. Neither one of you is ever going to vote for this weapon, but this weapon is really one of the more iconic weapons in shooters i think this weapon is what really made sniping in video games like a a forefront

kind of thing um in this regard because this is where you saw the origin of like 360 no scopes and stuff like that and that is the op from counter-strike otherwise known as the awp for those that may not be counter-strike literate but the op was the pinnacle of sniping in a competitive video game i mean let's be honest counter-strike has been in esports for ages if you were good with the op you were a god amongst men in whatever server you were on, you know, playing Counter-Strike. So, you know, it's just, I know this is not going to resonate with you or Michael, you know, but man, what the op did for sniping in first-person shooters and what you could do with that in an ultra-competitive shooter like Counter-Strike was just incredible.

So for me me super iconic weapon and i had to give it its due fair enough i thought i thought you might go with the poop gun from borderlands 3 i you know what was that on your list the poop the poop meister tooth oh what was the name of something like that where you find it a porta potty yeah that was so good and it would just literally make fart sounds and poop sounds as you were shooting it too. Oh, too good. All right, so we are...

It's Paul, this is your last pick, right? Yeah, last pick of the draft. Guys, I didn't think that this would make it all the way to the last pick. I honestly thought one of you might take it in round one or round two. I don't see how I take anything over the Golden Gun. I mean, there's awesome picks left, like the Energy Sword from Halo.

That was on my list. The Leviathan Axe didn't get drafted. But yeah, I'm going to go with Golden Gun. And I'm going to say, you could argue it's the best weapon from the best shooter so yeah this is a value pick here in the final round last pick i'm gonna go golden gun i don't even have it on my list because i just i don't know i just didn't like it that much i understand its value um also it's like picking a lightsaber because you know it it's from the movie called the golden gun uh man with the golden gun i'm just i'm just kidding i picked a weapon from a movie too with the uh holy hand grenade so i'm not giving you a hard time about it

but i don't know i had it and i'm just like we never played with the golden gun because i always played with uh with license to kill which means that it's a one-shot kill anyways the golden gun had a really slow reload and it carried only one bullet so it's like you didn't get it had one bullet you had to reload manually and so i was like that's okay but i i think i'll overlook it because i only really played multiplayer uh but it was an awesome gun i never played license to kill so in my circles the golden gun really mattered the idea of the like the soviet being a one-shot kill just seems so weird to me so for me the golden gun definitely carried a lot more weight you would always run and fight over the spawn for the golden gun too oh for sure yeah i love the pick and i hate the pick i love the pick

because the golden gun deserves its due it's one of if it's one of the most iconic weapons in gaming um you know so i i like that it's getting the nod i just some there's something kind of boring about the golden gun too like it was fun to have and the one shot was great but it's like there's so many more fun weapons it's just a ppk right it's a one shot walter ppk it's a little boring yeah and that's like that's why i say i i hate the pick as as much as i love it because the golden gun use is not the funnest thing in gaming i mean yeah you'd one-shot people and people would hate you and everybody fought over it but at the same time it like it had some weak points i guess but then again this is the last pick of the last round and yeah yeah i mean value pick is definitely there it's it's you almost have it's

either that or i mean i can go through my own mentions real fast that or scorpion scorpion spear that was awesome get over here uh the crowbar from half-life which i wasn't going to take another one of those the spread gun from contra was the best gun in that game when it just filled the whole screen up with bullets uh my lightsaber pick was the energy sword from halo because it's basically almost like a lightsaber. It cuts through armor, cuts through anything. It's like a laser sword of some kind, and it's also really cool.

It's one of the coolest melee weapons in a shooter. I just didn't want to pick it because it meant that I couldn't pick the Blue Shell or the Holy Hand Grenade, which was just way more fun. And then what rounds that out? That's about it, I think. The Dagger of Time from Prince of Persia because it's a time dagger. There you go. more fun so um and then what what rounds that out that's about it i think uh the dagger of time for

prince of persia because it's a time time dagger there you go yeah any kind of time power is always good but it's such a small weapon i felt like right it's kind of hard to argue that it's one of the best if you got to get that close to someone what about you josh any honorable mentions we haven't already talked about um i had the plasma grenade from halo because sticking somebody with the grenade is still fun to this day there i mean there's few things in gaming as fun as just landing that sticky grenade and then the only other one that i had to bring up because this is honestly one of the coolest named weapons in all of gaming in my opinion and that was the hammer of dawn i love the hammer of war man dude the number one coolest sounding name give me the hammer of dawn was a cool sounding weapon too

yeah because it would call in like a satellite orbital laser strike that would just obliterate anything man it was it was a really cool weapon so you would save it too you're like we can't use it now we can't use it and then we're just getting overrun you're like hammer down here we go but that was it for me yeah i think the only other honorable mention that didn't already get mentioned earlier is the uh grappler from just cause now i know josh you said you've never played any of the just causes right what about you michael have you no huh so it's a really cool idea where you can basically the grappler is like almost like magnetic so you can connect things so you can shoot a person and then shoot a car that's driving on a highway at 100 miles an hour

i've seen these videos and it'll yank them so So the grappler is one of those things where you can just watch hours of funny footage on YouTube and it's fantastic. So that one I knew I was not going to draft because I didn't even know if either of you had even heard of it. But that's a really fun weapon as well. I do. I have to name one more before we move on. Because I know there's people listening right now that are saying these guys have all lost their minds. They didn't pick the most iconic weapon in all of gaming. How could you not pick this weapon, guys?

And that weapon is the Master Sword from Legend of Zelda. No, thank you. Because the Master Sword is the worst worst most boring weapon in a video game it's a sword yeah i think that's it it's a sword that like i get what it's the it's the only weapon that can take down ganondorf you know and it's like who cares dude the master sword kudos to nintendo man because i don't know how they do it. But making a plain sword like the most iconic weapon in video games is kudos to you. But I find the Master Sword to be extremely boring and unimaginative. And I would not ever pick it.

I'm proud of us that no one took it. Because I think I looked at two lists and it was number one on both both it was number one on a few lists that i pulled up as well and i was like yuck like i would never i would never pick it i get it it's iconic but i would never pick it yeah it's so boring that's that's the thing it might be iconic i guess but i don't like i saw on another list they had like the hammer from donkey kong i like, get out of here. That's so stupid. You know what I saw on a lot of lists as well that was never number one is whatever the name of the sword is that Cloud uses in Final Fantasy VII, that one Cloudbuster thing. Yeah, that's cool, but I'm not going to pick it. Nah, it's so boring compared.

Who's going to draft that over the energy sword? And we didn't even draft that. I would draft the Hammer of Dawn over both of them. All right, so just to sum up our teams here my weapons that i drafted are the gravity gun from half-life the farsight from perfect dark the experimental murph from fallout and the golden gun from 007 josh is coming in with blades of chaos the bfg 9000 the rocket launcher in uh all shooters ever and the awp from counter-strike and then josh has come or then michael is coming in with the portal device from portal the mk2

lancer assault rifle from gears of war with the chainsaw attached the blue shell from mario kart i forgot about that great pick and the And the Holy Hand Grenade from Worms. Greater pick. I think those are some good weapons. Alright, so we've got about 15 minutes left in the show here. Here's where we're now going to match everything up 1v1 March Madness style until we have crowned a

consensus winner. So round one, match one, we've got the Gravity Gun versus the AWP. Clearly, I'm going to vote for the Gravity Gun. Josh, are you going to lie and try to argue? I'm just going to give this one to you. Like I said, the AWP was my last pick. Like I said, this is going to resonate with a subset of people. I played a lot of Counter-Strike Go back in the day, man. Yeah, I did too. And it's just like, people know.

If you know, you know. But I'm not going to say that it's better than the Gravity Gun in all of gaming. Gravity Gun it is. Do you ever have any desire to go back and play Counter-Strike at this point? Every now and then, I honestly do. Do you?

And then I know that I'm going to get in there and get absolutely right every single time so i'll just i'll keep my fond memories of the game i don't want to go down that road anymore of being like i'm really bad yeah my son was saying he wanted to start playing league of legends for the first time because he started watching arcane and it was kind of sucking yeah oh that shows great i just told him i was like just don't get down because you're gonna suck really bad for a while you gotta put a lot of time and you'll get better but you know don't get discouraged i feel like with counter-strike it would it would be so hard and honestly we might just be too old at this point yeah i think so

yep yeah all right round one match two we've got the blades of chaos versus the holy hand grenade for worms i did not see this matchup coming this is number one this is the easiest choice ever but i do love the fact that we're pitting these two weapons against each other it couldn't be right right i mean i it's blades of chaos but holy hand grenade is hilarious i bid you adieu holy hand grenade you're hilarious but yeah blades of class chaos like you see that key and peel like blocky ballades of chow yes there you go there you go yep i i love that sketch so much uh jaqueline is there a jaqueline here do you mean jacklyn yeah all right you know holy hand grenade is just happy to be here michael i

don't think it was expecting to win but i think they're just happy to be nominated it's it's you know it's it's that fourth round pick that you just gotta you gotta come up and say something funny that's fun and it worked for me and its moment is over goodbye yeah all right round one match three we've got the portal device versus the golden gun from golden eye uh that's actually an interesting matchup but this is one i would have i would have imagined this in round two or three i'm surprised it's all the way in round one but yeah two great weapons dude this one's dang it oh wait i have to be the judge on this one too one of them is really fun one of them is not as much fun one is much more fun and the other is much more effective so it's like how are you gonna right you know one

is actually a weapon that can kill people the other one just makes holes in things i will say one is called a device the other is called a gun all right here we go i'm gonna use paul's argument of oh you're gonna you're gonna pick your fourth round over my first round from from the olympics there we go uh hey if the argument holds water there's gonna be so many people. The golden gun is boring. It is kind of boring. I'm going to give it to the portal device. Thank you. Now, here's the thing. My brain says I should pick the golden gun. This is why this is a tough decision.

Because the golden gun is on any, oh, what's the best weapons in gaming list? Yes, we've seen them. But again, a lifelong gamer, I personally find the Golden Gun to be kind of boring. And I know there's a lot of other people out there that think that. It's like picking the Master Sword. Yes. Whereas the Portal device, it may not fit the theme as well, but there is few things that are as fun in gaming as the Portal Gun.

Go Google top games in gaming history ever i guarantee you that if you average out the portal device is number one overall it's number one on most lists that i picked maybe yeah it's uh it's it's a weapon it's barely a weapon but it's the most fun weapon it is super fun fun. It's the most fun weapon. And that was part of my criteria. So, all right. Yeah. All right. Round one, match four. We've got the MK2 Lancer versus Rocket Launcher. Interesting. It's the Lancer.

Interesting. I would... Look, the Lancer was on my list, and I would have picked it if Michael hadn't. But if you're talking about iconic weapons of gaming and fun weapons in gaming, weapons that changed the genre, man, there is nothing that beats the rocket launcher. Name a game where getting the rocket launcher is not like the best, like,

oh, congratulations, you got the rocket launcher you can use now. In most games, it's the best weapon. In most games. Yes. here's my argument okay so the rocket launcher when it goes up against the experimental merv which is a better rocket launcher because it's a rocket launcher that blasts nukes the lancer is going to beat the merv the rocket launcher is not there you go is is is an experimental merv with nukes stronger than the rocket launcher yes but if we're talking about the strongest weapons that's what we said in the beginning is like

you know that hasn't been my criteria but then i have the strongest weapon in gaming which is the bfg so then i would win the whole thing if that's the argument no what i'm saying is like the the merv is a rocket launcher it's just more fun it's better it's more dangerous yeah it's more fun to shoot but it's a very specific and i went with the like this has the effect on gaming overall it's more iconic so when when the lancer came out people were like holy cow this is the coolest thing that's ever happened to a shooter it's incredible it's a range weapon it's got a buzzsaw on it it's it's just it's an incredible weapon and a generic rocket launcher i just don't think i don't think takes it but paul you know uh neither neither of these weapons is making it out of the next round so ultimately i'm not sure it matters that much i'm gonna give it to the

lancer only because it's more fun. Tried really hard. I know you did, but I got to give some credit to the chainsaw aspect. The chainsaw gun's great. I just wanted to really try hard to get my pick passed on that one. All right. Round one, match five. This is a tough one.

We've got the BFG 9000 versus the Experimental easy easy so here's the tough part there ain't no tough part the bfg 9000 was at the very bottom of my list of 17 guns the fat man i almost took it number two yeah because i love shooting nuclear weapons they're nukes you You're shooting a nuclear weapon. What's stronger? When it hits the ground, it goes, it's a mushroom cloud and everything. But this is hard, because if you think iconic, the BFG is iconic.

It's incredible. I guarantee you. It's a great gun. I know we have to speed this up a little bit, because we're going to argue all night. But if you asked 100 gamers and said, name the experimental experimental merv from fallout 3 might be on two of their nominations whereas 98 of the people out of 100 are going

to be like the bfg is on my list for sure i just wish that both of these were matched up against the lancer and the rocket launcher because they would it would win over both of those why you hate the lancer so much it's like that almost was my 1.01, because I think it's my favorite weapon in any game ever. But it's just a normal assault rifle and a normal chainsaw. But it has a chainsaw on an assault rifle. It's like putting bacon on a cheeseburger. You're like, okay, bacon is awesome. Cheeseburger is awesome.

You put them together, and you're like, we just changed the world. That being said, I have to pick the BFG. I hate to say it. Thank you, Michael. I do like the MIRV more, but the BFG has to move on because it is iconic, incredible. It really did change the game in that game. The MIRV is awesome, but you find ammo for it. It sucks.

But it's so much fun. I don't know. Plus, we got to move on, and that's just the one I picked in my head. It was the right pick. And I'm sorry, Paul. the one it was the right pick and i'm sorry if she's the right pick but experimental merv died too early and so did the golden gun i just want to be on record saying that i can't believe that we've got yeah the lancer all right uh the farsight versus what are you talking it's my favorite ever sorry michael i like i love the lancer pick i'm i'm with michael on this, which is rare. We're comparing it to the Portal device and Gravity Guns and BFGs.

It's not in that same class. That's all I mean. I think it's easily in that class. Let's move on, though, because we'll talk about it later. Farsight versus Blue Shell for Mario Kart. Just end this, Josh, quick. I hate both of these. But I can't pick the Blue Shell.

That's why the Blue Shell's great. No, you got it. That's why it's so good, because you hate it. Is it iconic? Yes. Is it terrible? Yes. Is it effective? Yes. It is. great no you got it that's why it's so good because is it iconic yes it's a terrible yes is it effective yes it is and there's nothing more dreadful in gaming it slows you down for

four seconds it doesn't kill anybody it's it's a nuisance this is one where i'm picking the fun weapon over the iconic weapon because the blue shell is iconic but the farsight rifle even with what little i played Perfect Dark, I remember the rifle and what it did. You know, and so I've got to give it to the Farsight. I got two horses in this race still. Let's keep going. Yeah, we're down to our final six

and we all have two, which is kind of fun. All right. We both said that mine are already gone, so I'll let you guys just argue over your picks now. All right, so we only got a couple minutes left. I think we've made most of our arguments here so for the most part i think we're just voting round two match one boy two heavy hitters gravity gun versus the bfg this is tough that's that's rough okay so the gravity gun here's the thing is the gravity gun and i know that you're going to make this argument.

Oh, wait, you said you had an argument against this. I quelled it because it's the same argument you're going to have against my weapon, is that the gravity gun is actually more of like a puzzle solver in the game. One would argue the better weapon is the crowbar in Half-Life 2 because- No one's saying that. Yeah, sure, you can throw people and stuff, but- The crowbar? Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Michael. What are you talking about? throw people and stuff but the crowbar cocaine is a hell of a drug michael no one's ever said the crowbar is better you move boxes and stuff with the gravity gun i don't know that's not a really good argument but uh i don't know h you guys give me why that's better because i have to pick and this sucks because this is really hard there's i think you just have to pick one at this point one is more iconic one is more of a gravity gravity guns way more fun just go with gravity gun i hate i hate to say it i don't oh i it's right dude we gotta pick i mean that's like this is like picking between two of your children right here you know it's it's but we got to make a choice too so yeah i think this is kind of one of those boring drafts where the first three are probably going to make it through we got the blades of chaos versus the lancer i hate to say it blades of chaos wins here and the lancer is perhaps my favorite weapon but also blades of

All right. How long has it been since all three of us have had one in the final three? Hasn't happened in a long time. Probably, yeah, like maybe three drafts ago, maybe four or something like that. It doesn't happen often. Normally, I'm out pretty quick. Yeah. I think this draft is a little more predictable.

It's not as wacky as drafting characters for office jobs you know where we're yeah hiring sonic as our uh as our intern as our door dash yeah exactly all right so since we've got three left in the finals we just got to match them up 1v1 and see who wins gravity gun versus blades of chaos oh shoot dude i'm i'm sticking to my guns on this one the gravity gun is a blast and and it's iconic but i using the blades of chaos like the mythology behind them how just freaking cool they are to use in a video game why don't we just save a lot of time here paul you count to three we all three say what we think should win because we're all three thinking

the same thing and then we just say it out loud you ready well no one's gonna vote against themselves so how about you just say it on three michael one two three yeah blades of chaos they're the best weapon ever they're the best weapon ever so that's what's gonna win this whole draft interesting see i okay i i personally i disagree but i would not have a problem blades winning the gravity gun would be the one a one the gravity gun and the blades of chaos for me are like the one a one a minus i just like i i think like i was like if if i would have known the blades of chaos like that it's crazy they made it because that was the clear one that I won when I went into the draft. And I was like, they're iconic.

They're incredible. And also the fact that when they come out in God of War 2018, like seven games into the series, you still feel like you're like, yes.
