Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the video gamers podcast. You ever had a game that just randomly pops into your head? Maybe it's an old game you remember from childhood. Maybe it's that forgotten game that you've been meaning to play forever. Or maybe it's simply because it's just got a weird name. Whatever the reason. we all have those random games that come to mind from time to time
Starting point is 00:00:34 and on this episode that's what we're going to be covering get ready for the weird the out there and the what the heck is this game but first some introductions are in order I am your host Josh
Starting point is 00:00:49 and joining me he may have a one track mind because when we ask for his list he said it's the battlefield closed beta the battlefield technical test the Battlefield Open beta, and the Battlefield 6 full release. It's Ryan. You know, that may not be far from the truth.
Starting point is 00:01:07 It was very hard. I'm like, I can't think of any other games I've been thinking about. This is like, this is it, dude. This is all that my brain is that. We have one-track minds right now. Our minds are absolutely one-track minds. My wife's probably listening in the other room going, what's your one-track mind?
Starting point is 00:01:23 Battlefield 6, baby, Battlefield 6. Don't worry, honey. Don't worry. Oh, man. And joining us, he thinks he's so edgy because he gave us his list and then asked if we had ever heard of any of him. He thinks he's so cool with his indie games and his niche games list. Oh, and I did know two of them. So eat it.
Starting point is 00:01:48 It's ace. Okay. To be fair to me, once again, I have brought lists before you guys before. And every single one, we were like, I have never heard of a single one of these, and I have to just, like, lead y'all through the mud blindfolded. Because that's what those games usually are, is they're mud. Oh, don't you miss my child.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Oh, man. Oh, that's so good. You don't get to talk about mud when I looked at one of your games, and we'll get to that. Oh, Ace's firing shots back. Chellis. I knew one of Aces games. I will say, I knew one. Did you?
Starting point is 00:02:27 Yeah. I was curious. I knew two of them. Maybe three, actually. I've heard of the name of another one, but like I never really like. Yeah, so two. That counts. If you've heard the name, that's enough.
Starting point is 00:02:41 You couldn't pick it out of a crowd. It doesn't count. Pick it out at the grocery store. All right, guys, before we get into our random weird crazy games that just come to mind of, I'd like to equate this episode to the Great Roman Empire, right? Like, people asked there was this big thing that came up. When's the last time you thought about the Great Roman Empire? Roman Empire. And it's like most
Starting point is 00:03:00 men say like, yeah, almost every day. What are you talking about? That just shocked people. But that's what this, that's these games. It's like they just randomly pop in your head. Doesn't mean they're good, doesn't mean they're bad. But for some reason, they just occupy space from time to time in our brains. We don't know why, but we're going to put them in front of you all out there so that you can,
Starting point is 00:03:21 you know, maybe, maybe have them take space in your brain too. But before we get to that. guys we got some people to thank man we had a guys we had a few people sign up to support the podcast we had jacob whit who signed up we had jay who signed up and we had a guy by the name of ace so there's more than one of you now scared me signed up all of them for rarest ace is like i didn't authorize this. I was like way, way, way, way, way. For rare status. So Jacob Witt, Ace and Jay, thank you all so much. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Never met a bad ace. Really do appreciate it. And it means the world to us. It keeps this podcast going.
Starting point is 00:04:14 So if anybody else out there wants to be like Jacob, Ace and Jay, there's a link in the episode description. It takes about two minutes to sign up. You will be a supporter of the show. and knowing that you were bringing some of the best gaming content in the world to everybody out there. So thank you guys. All right, guys. So we put a list together. This was kind of a fun list because I just went, bro, these games live in my head. I don't need. This is not a hard list to come up with at all for me. Ryan, I just want to start with you, man. Because at first, Ryan was like, guys, I don't, I'm having a hard time with my list. And then we were like, bro, what like games? just occupy space in your head for
Starting point is 00:04:56 no reason. And then he was like, oh, okay, I got it. Well, I do want to preface this, too, is when we talked about this, we said that we weren't going to do games that were like big mainstays, like really kind of AAA mega titles,
Starting point is 00:05:12 you know, then it just, those things are always there, you know, so we try to, yes, we're trying to stay away from the AAAs, the god of wars, the Grand Theft autos, the cyberpunks, you know, those types of games. because, let's be honest, they occupy space and everybody's head out there. There's no reason for us to cover those.
Starting point is 00:05:29 So we are, we did try to say be a little bit more vague or, you know, niche as far as some of these options. So yes, if you don't think, don't think we're crazy is what we're saying just because of these games that we're bringing up. You probably still will, but here, you know, here we are. Yeah, I mean, that's fair. Here we are. Guys, it was really hard for me to find games that weren't AAA.
Starting point is 00:05:50 I got to be. Oh, yeah. Whatever. I know. I was struggling, man. Whatever. That's what we do, like, do a AAA one. And then Ace would be like, guys, I can't, I can't do it.
Starting point is 00:05:57 I need help. It's like, I played Red Dead this year. Does that kill? Battlefield 6. Yeah, Battlefield 6. Yeah, Battlefield 6 will be Ace's second AAA game. Yeah, ever, of all times as he's ever played. All right, all right, I'm going to start.
Starting point is 00:06:13 So, this game is one that I definitely, I think about often, not only because it is one that was, in my opinion, influential. to kind of this genre or this type of game, but also it's just genuinely enjoyable and then it created a setting that you could always picture it happening. I'm going with VR Super Hot.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Oh, yeah. Super Hot's such a good game. This one, and it is. And people have messaged us about it on our Discord. If you haven't joined, check it out. It's an amazing Discord. But people have messaged me and talked about,
Starting point is 00:06:49 oh, I love Super Hot, but I haven't checked it out in VR. I could not imagine playing this in any other platform other than virtual reality. It is one of the coolest, most immersive style games that I think about constantly because you can just move and shift. And every time you do that, like time moves. So the bullets are coming at you. Enemies are coming at you.
Starting point is 00:07:13 There's just so much there that lends itself to be a really, really unique experience every time you play. so yeah that's that's one of mine for sure it is it is a is a top that is always in my cranium here for sure is it significantly better in VR compared to just playing it on PC well I've never played it on any other platform but I could not I could not imagine not because you're you're sitting there and people who are watching on video if you're not you should be um you're you're seeing bullets coming at this way or that way and you can like lean slightly and then you know it's going to miss you and then you can pick up like a coffee cup and throw it at the guy
Starting point is 00:07:53 or you can set your gun in front of the bullet coming and it'll block it and then you can shoot the other guy like so there's there's a million different ways to like get through these levels um but i couldn't imagine playing it in anything other than VR but yeah the the VR mode is what just lives in my head rent free man for sure it's the only way i can see playing super hot honestly and it really really thrives in the VR environment and there's no motion sickness because you are not moving it's just the things around you that are moving yep so i super hot's one of those games it's like beat saber if you have a vr headset and you haven't played those two games those are the two yeah yeah like you're missing out on like what makes vr really neat and it's like
Starting point is 00:08:36 the beginning levels of vr for people where you can really kind of go like whoa this is really cool and then you can kind of start branching out but those two are like the staple games for any VR system, man. Yep, yep, yeah. I've almost bought a VR just for super hot, honestly. Yeah, it's, it's really that good. And like you said, Ryan, when you start to realize, like, oh, I can do all these different things and you're kind of, you're only held back by like your imagination to a certain
Starting point is 00:09:02 degree. Yes. Yeah. You have stuff around you. You could, like, grab it and toss it that way and try to time it to, like, hit that bullet so it doesn't hit you. And then, yeah, there's just, there's so much there. So, yeah, that one I think about all the time.
Starting point is 00:09:15 yeah all right ace what you got man all right i'm gonna start this off this is a nintendo switch exclusive game which is the only reason i don't still play it constantly is astral chain it is developed by the same people who did like bayonetta so it's a hack and slash but it takes place in a cyberpunk city where you play as cops who control these chimeras on chains and you use the chain not only in combat while you're controlling both yourself and the chimera but use it in like puzzle solving as well because the chain is the main mechanic and it's just so freaking cool. I think about it all the time, like how cool it was that they worked this chain into just regular gameplay and as well as the combat where you're, you send the chimera out. It wraps around whatever you're trying to fight and then they're chained in place while you're fighting them and you can let off a counterattack.
Starting point is 00:10:07 But aside from the actual combat, there's also puzzles and investigations because you're a cop. like what else you get it to do i watched the trailer for this because i've heard of this game before and i was like i know i know this name like i feel like i've heard of this title but i don't know that i ever saw gameplay on this one at all but this one actually looks pretty good man so good dude i love it you can tell the kind of button mashy combat like you said like with bayonetta there there is definitely like an artistic flare to it it looks a little older because you can also tell like the polygon counts a little bit lower kind of thing i don't realize this was a switch exclusive, um, which is kind of crazy. But the game overall to me, I was like,
Starting point is 00:10:48 okay, I'm kind of in on this, man. Like, there's a reason it was only on the switch. Yeah. It was very, all right, buddy. What do you think the reason was? Oh, what was the reason? Oh, wait, just save it. A, save it for Ryan's next one. You know, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a Nintendo exclusive? Yeah, for a reason. But yeah, when we talk about like chaos games and games that just pop into our head, this is one of them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:16 Is it just because the chain? Is that like the, that's like the neat mechanic that your brain just keeps remembering? Yeah, it's like such a unique mechanic that I don't, you haven't seen it anywhere else. That's something when, yeah, when you have like some sort of unique attack ability or something that always kind of sticks in your head because you don't see it often in a lot of other games um yeah that that totally makes sense of why that's one that just kind of sticks there i mean it does i was giving you hard time it looks pretty neat like and i'm sure uh playing something
Starting point is 00:11:45 unique that way like with with a different mechanic that is not common you know is is enjoyable and it will stick with you so my first game is a game that i actually haven't played um since we're just kind of going with uh you know games that pop into mind here and i haven't played it and i'll be honest, I freaking loved the first game in this one. So I don't know how somehow I have not freaking played the sequel to this, but Dishonored 2. Dude, Dishonored is amazing. It is such a good game. If you haven't played Dishonored, you're missing out on a really, really memorable game. I remember when they announced Dishonored 2 and you could play, see, you're missing out, Ryan. Dishonored is fantastic. I'll get all these powers. Like, think like, think Bioshock in a sense.
Starting point is 00:12:32 with the different abilities that you can get. But then they have this really awesome like traversal teleport function. You get to unlock these different abilities. It's in this kind of like, I don't know, like a steampunk-ish kind of universe. You're an assassin, like, stealthy dude named, is it Corso?
Starting point is 00:12:51 Corvo. Corvo Atano. Corvo. There you go. Corvo. Dishonor 2 comes to mind all the time for me because it is like the one game where I go, bro, why haven't I played this yet? I think the issue is that most people say dishonored 2 was not as good as dishonored, but like that's okay because dishonored's so freaking good that it's hard to top that. If I want more dishonored, why not go to Dishonored 2?
Starting point is 00:13:17 Why haven't I played this game? Like, this is, it just drives me crazy. And when we did our Zones Levels episode where we did the most memorable, bro, if you Google search, I mean like 70% of the responses were a level that is in Dishonored 2, which I was like, I'm missing out. Yeah, apparently there's some insane level in Dishonor 2 where it's like in like really incredibly memorable. Over Halo 3 Wordhog? Yeah, dude.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Like look it up. Just do a Google search and like so many people are like Dishonor 2. It's like, is it the clockwork? I don't know. Anyway. The point being that every now and then my brain just goes, dude. Are we ever going to play Dishonored 2? And then I go, oh, yeah, we should.
Starting point is 00:14:04 And then we just don't. I don't know why it keeps coming up. But, like, just randomly this happens. So at some point, I need to play Dishonor 2. It's supposed to be great. Like, it's not like this is a terrible sequel. I think it just was not as good as the first. But there you go, man.
Starting point is 00:14:19 That's one of those games that just lives in my head because I go, I need to just, if nothing else, just get it. Play it for like an hour and then be like, there, brain. There you go. Check it out. There you go. We did it. listen if anybody out there has played dishonored too and you want to convince me to play it it
Starting point is 00:14:33 won't take much but i need somebody to just be like bro you should play this game and then you know it's like okay twist my arm kind of thing but yeah that's my first one guys we're going to take a quick break and then we'll come back with some more uh kind of random random brain games we'll be right back all right we're back guys it just had another game pop in my head during the break there so it's like this is why this is why man it's like you don't have to think about these all right ryan what's your what's the next game on your list uh the next one i got is one that we actually just recently played in a beta and i i keep you know it just keeps popping up over and over and over in my head um and i'm not sure why maybe it's because of
Starting point is 00:15:18 frustration or anticipation of what i expected or what i want to happen with it but i'm going with a wild gate uh yeah i i i get that dude yeah i i had i get that yeah i had a lot of confused fun like i was i was it's hard to describe we we played it we weren't exactly sure how how to do this or what to do or how to battle and in in ship to ship battle and then how the best uh strategory for the level but all i know is every time we hopped in we had a blast it was confusing it was crazy but it was it was good every time we hopped in it was fun and enjoyable he played with paul ace played you know me and josh you know everybody played so man it was one of those that uh it stuck with me and i keep thinking about it like i wonder where that's at what's going
Starting point is 00:16:12 on with it and it just pops up kind of almost daily in my head dude i get this ryan i get this i think i know the answer like at least in my brain at least it's like we had a ton of fun this was not the full release but it was basically the I mean it was so close to release they're not changing very much I think the issue with Wildgate is is that it is very very
Starting point is 00:16:34 fun with friends and in a short dose you know like we could play two three four matches but I worry about the longevity of Wildgate where it's like I don't know that this game I would play it for more than like two weeks kind of thing yeah and it's weird because there were a lot of people in our community
Starting point is 00:16:50 that were all on that open beta for Wildgate and we're really hyping it up and think, guys, this is a ton of fun. And I have not heard a whisper, a whisper of this game since it released either. So it makes me worry that it's like really fun for the short term, but not the long term. And I had a $40 price tag, you know, at the same time, which I think, I think a lot of people said, this feels like it should be a free to play game. Yes. You know, and then I can pay for cosmetics and upgrades and things like that. But I think that's why it honestly. But I'm with you and that it's like, I do get the itch to be like, man, it'd be fun if we could jump in.
Starting point is 00:17:25 Yeah, exactly. But I don't want to, I don't want to pay the $40. And I really don't think I would play it for very long either. So I don't know. It's a, it is, it is a catchy. Like, there is something about like, the playtime that, like, draws you in. Like, I'm like, I don't really, I don't really want to play this game a lot. But like, I also kind of want to play this game a lot, you know?
Starting point is 00:17:44 So it's, yeah, it's that weird kind of just the position, like, where you're just, like, kind of in the middle zone. So. Yeah. All right, Ace, Ace, Ace, what's the next. one up for you buddy all right next one for me when we're talking about games that just pop into my head every now and then it's got to be odd world stranger's wrath and it's for a very specific reason it's because when i was first being introduced to video games my uncle would pop this into his xbox and play it all the time and i was just so enraptured by it every time i saw it in stranger's wrath you play as the stranger as you capture bounties in order to pay for a surgery
Starting point is 00:18:22 And the unique thing is you can capture the bounties alive for more money, which way harder, way harder. Or you can just kill them dead. But your ammo is live ammo that you gather from the environments. So you'll gather these like rabid, fuzzy teeth monster things called fuzzles. Or you'll grab these shock scorpions or things like that and you'll just fire them at enemies. You can set traps. Is this why I saw animals riding on the gun all the time?
Starting point is 00:18:48 Yeah, it's a crossbow that fires live ammo. Okay. That makes way more sense to me now because I was like, why is there like a spider riding on this gun? And then it was a different animal at another point. And then I was like, what? I'm not going to lie, this game looks super weird to me. It's super weird. I don't know when this game came out. It looked weird. And I was like, why is this coming into Ace's mind randomly? And you'll swap between a third person view for platforming and the first person view for, you know, fighting. But like, the best part is just the voice acting for me because the stranger has the deepest. Western voice. He's like, I gotta get to town and get that pack rat paluca. Like, I remember. Oh, this game has rats.
Starting point is 00:19:31 That's right. Oh. That was just the name. It was just the name, all right? It does have that. It explains it. It does have squirrels. The squirrels are really I was going to say, I'm pretty sure I saw part of the trailer where there was a squirrel riding on the gun and then I was like, okay, say no more. It all makes sense. It all makes sense. Yeah. I love this game, man. This game is just like always on my mind. So this is like a bounty game. yeah like you're yeah see that that to me like i always for whatever reason i remember playing so many having for you know that bounty aspect always draws me in you know so like you know
Starting point is 00:20:04 whatever kind of the world you're in having that you got to go get this guy and then if you can capture my life it's worth double the money you know i'm i'm in every time so something like this uh definitely piques my interest when when did this thing come out oh it's all Oh, 2010. It's old. It's old. It's 15 years old. And it looks old.
Starting point is 00:20:27 And it plays old, but I still love it. You can't also visit live bounties in the jail, which is cool. Oh, that's pretty cool. Yeah. It's a cool game. All right. Next up for me, guys, this is, I'll be amazed if anybody has heard of this game. It's a game called Vaporum.
Starting point is 00:20:44 I found this game because I love the Legend of Grimrock games, Legend of Grim Rock 1 and 2. These are the old dungeon crawler style first person grid-based type games a la eye of the beholder way back in the day. And so I found this game called Vaporum that looked very, very similar. It is a steampunk dungeon crawler. So there's technology in these, which normally these are like fantasy kind of based games. But there is something about the grid-based dungeon crawlers that I absolutely love.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I don't know if it's just nostalgia because it's like this is kind of what I grew up on. There are strategy elements. There are puzzles. There are like observation stuff. Like you're kind of going to a dead end and you're like something looks weird. I can't. Oh, wait. This brick has a different highlight color.
Starting point is 00:21:36 And then you click it and it's a button that opens up a secret door and then there's like a treasure room behind it kind of thing. So you're always like paying attention to your environment. The combat is like live. So Ryan, you would like these because they're not turn-based combat. combat, but they are slow where you actually have to activate your abilities, but then using movement, because everything's on a grid, you're trying to position to where they can't shoot you because this one mob only shoots forward or something like that. So there's some like tacticalness to it too. Guys, I love these kind of games. They're super fun to just get lost in for a little
Starting point is 00:22:10 while. And the best part about this is Vaporum is $1.99 on Steam right now. So if you want to spend two to get some really good entertainment and maybe try a different style of game it's a good right honestly legend of grim rock is better so if you're going to pick up one pick up legend of grim rock one or two but vaporum caught me off guard because it was a very well done uh entry into this genre that doesn't really exist anymore so i can't recommend it enough it is different enough that for anybody that has not played a game like this in a while it will feel very unique to you which is hard to do nowadays as well and for a buck 99 you can't go wrong and it holds up man the graphics are decent the puzzles are fun the combat's good Ryan's laughing at me because he's like this game
Starting point is 00:22:59 looks so old and I've never seen a game like this in my life Josh coming from the graphics snob which is ridiculous no no those are fine okay you know listen it's a dollar 99 because it's 90% off like what okay yeah 90% what what have you ever bought that was of quality that was 90% off that's what I want to know well I mean this game's been out for a while man yeah those two dollars
Starting point is 00:23:28 add up over a don't forget steam takes 30% of that two bucks that's awful oh man we gotta move on what's what's the next one and Ryan if you don't talk about war gods on this next one before we run out of time I'm bringing it up for you Ryan
Starting point is 00:23:44 tell us why war gods is your next game Okay, War God's is a game That's... My eyes! My eyes! Yeah, I'm talking about my eye. Listen, I get it. I get it.
Starting point is 00:23:55 It is 1990s, like, mid-90s, development, Nintendo 64. But, man, this game has stuck with me forever. Much like, I mean, it looks like Aces' pixelation we got going on right now with his screen. So, this one for me, was something that stuck with me
Starting point is 00:24:17 ever since I was a little kid this came out like I said in the mid-90s you can be a bunch of gods that you can fight and battle again these are these are just games that stick in our heads and this is one of those anubis I've always been an ancient Egyptologist type kind of guy
Starting point is 00:24:37 I love I'm fascinated with that world and that history this one stuck with me because you could be a nubis and you could play as anubis and the attacks and the way you could you know do everything and it was like the kind of uh street fighter all these other ones so yeah anyways i loved it it was great it's stuck in my head these guys are going to roast me now so go ahead how could you tell it was anubis at 480 p yeah dude when the when the game play you're lucky if it's 480 you're lucky if it's 480 yeah at 4 there was one stage where the background of the stage was so blurry that
Starting point is 00:25:14 I could not make out where the characters were and the background stopped. I couldn't tell. And I was like, okay, this might be one of the worst visually represented games I've ever seen. And now, I know you love Anubis, Ryan, but the thing that killed me the most, and I even message Eunice and bro cracking up at this trailer is because like they went, look, it's Egypt. We got to have something for these moves. We don't know what to do. So one of his special moves is he fires out a triangle because it looks like a pyramid. is this like this was like
Starting point is 00:25:45 that is where I lost my stuff man and it's just this blue triangle that shoots out from the guy and starts spinning around the other character and I'm like do you not know Egypt stuff where this is the only thing you could think of was like what does Egypt have
Starting point is 00:26:00 well they have pyramids yeah we can't use those guys what about a triangle send it it's a triangle all I know is at the end of the day Anubis wins I never heard of this fighting game in my life that's what's crazy of cracking me up this is what this is what this is too for um like there's so many games and and please if you're in our discord or on socials or anything let us know yours because there's a million that people have never heard of
Starting point is 00:26:30 especially on old systems like old n64 PlayStation there's tons of games that nobody even knows about but but you remember like vividly so if you do please let us know because like this is one of those for me. I know it's horrible. I know it's bad and it was just like a super off market fighting game, but I love it and I think about it all the time. I love that I'd never heard of this and then I got to watch this trailer and just laugh because it was so bad.
Starting point is 00:27:00 It's so bad. The moves look terrible. The voice acting is horrible. And then they had cheesy moves like shooting up triangle because the guys from Egypt. So, you know, and that wasn't the only one. Some of the other characters, like oh my gosh man this is the voodoo guy shit's a bath this looked like
Starting point is 00:27:17 it was like a middle school project for like developing a game or something all right we're running out of time guys last one for me is oh wait ace yeah let me just go real quick uh kiwi is the last one I had on here which
Starting point is 00:27:33 is a cute game it's adorable I remember this game it looks a freaking adorable dude it is a great little co-op puzzle game that you can play with your friends or partner where you play as Kiwis in New Zealand who run a post office and every now and then I just think about how much fun I had playing this with my spouse and I want to go back even though we finished all the content I I remember seeing this game it looks like a really fun co-op game it I there's a
Starting point is 00:28:01 part of me that it's like is this like overcooked where you're going to wind up just like yelling at each other because it gets hard later on you will get a little bit yeah overcooked is like a marriage just ruin her man like you can't play that with like your spouse or he's like as cute as it is I was like is this just going to ruin relationships here why are you cutting the onions over here I'm trying to cut the onions dishes I need dishes I need dishes I'm going to fall the trash all right last one for me this is an obscure one I'll be surprised if people have heard this but this is a game called kings bounty The Legend, which is a Heroes of Might and Magic clone, basically.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Now, there was a time where all of these games were all the rage. Heroes of Might and Magic took these where you are basically trying to conquer a land. You go out into the world and a overworld kind of overhead map. You explore, you find resources and army units and things like that. You usually have a city that you take over. And then you can upgrade that city so that you can produce new units and things like. that anybody that's played any of the hero of might magic games knows what this genre is hands down um some games have taken a little bit further where it's a little bit more tactical or on the resource or the
Starting point is 00:29:22 strategy side i prefer the arcade style ones and man if king's bounty the legend doesn't fit that guys i looked at this i have 80 hours in this game dude whoa and i haven't a lot for you dude years dude but i'm telling you it is came out in 2008 dude it is the best mix of like having different uh like classes and races to where you can be like demons or necromancers or elves or whatever each race has its own units which are really really fun you can acquire other races units like temporarily and stuff so it's really cool but it's arcady ish to where you don't get so bogged down in like the unit management and your city management
Starting point is 00:30:07 and stuff like that the combat was just a ton of fun the variety of units was great it looks old at this point I get that it's kind of dated but my goodness man if this wasn't just a really good time for anybody that likes this genre
Starting point is 00:30:21 and keeping with my trend of really cheap games guys this game is one dollar on GOG right now one dollar a dollar four on Steam yeah $1 for on sorry don't forget
Starting point is 00:30:34 that four cents there guys you know ace and i were ready i mean bro for a dollar you're gonna get at least five six hours before you go man this game's kind of old at this point but i love these kind of games because it's it feels like you're playing like a fantasy like army simulator where and you can get like mega units you know to where they're really really strong and they're crushing all the little guys you've got like heroes that can cast spells over the whole battlefield and stuff i don't know i just i find the genre really fun from time to time so I'm watching this and I feel like I'm like 13 playing like PlayStation again like that's what it feels like exactly but there's kind of like it's what it looks like it pops in
Starting point is 00:31:14 my head from time to time because it's a different genre than what I normally play and when I think about this kind of like man that'd be fun to go and find those uh you know liches for my army that I found that one time that we're wrecking everything you know it's like this game just pops in a mind from time so no it's like how almost every screenshot it's just guy on horse in different place that that well that's the overworld map that's part of that's the where you're exploring and trying to find new units and new cities to conquer and new races that you come across and stuff like that all right listen we're we're super low on time guys give me we don't have time to get into them but what else is on your list just give me a title i had high-fi rush
Starting point is 00:31:52 because i've never played high-fi rush everyone tells me you should play that so good and i just haven't gotten to it you should play that salt and sanctuary is on my list because i absolutely love salt and sanctuary and even though the art style is rough yeah i know hard Metroidvania. A Souls like Metroidvania, even better. Yeah, that sounds, yeah. And then finally, one more Metroidvania through Lyca Age through Blood. That's a crazy. Anybody that's played excite bike that you want excite bike with guns and blood, and aren't you like a weird animal? What is? You're a Fox. Yeah, you're a Fox. Yeah. So a Fox riding a dirt bike with guns and lots of gore. That's a weird one ace. I actually played that one. It's not a bad game. It's really good. It's a good motorvania, for sure. Let's take. I'm real simple. Ace and his Motovanias, Petmetia, what's the other one? Petrovenius. I didn't make that one.
Starting point is 00:32:41 What did you call? Yeah, I can't. Motovania. Ace, you're banned. You're banned from any vania puns moving forward on this podcast. Oh, man. All right. What else was on your last round?
Starting point is 00:32:56 Just one more. I just had Roller Crocer Tycoon, too. I drowning, yeah, see, the music. I don't know if you were doing the music from roller coaster. Yeah, Ace was. It's in my head, building, crafting, like, doing all the things you can do. Like, it is one of those that if you're into that type of game, it still stands up. Like, being able to create the roller coasters and doing all that stuff, it's, it's, you know, longevity is unmatched.
Starting point is 00:33:24 So I love it. Never played it, but they look like fun. Oh, it's so good. And I could see the allure of, like, just designing a new coaster and seeing how it does. You do the shuttle coaster like this? that's supposed to come back down. But then you crank up the speed and then it goes and everyone just launches into the... It just flies off.
Starting point is 00:33:39 Yeah, they just launch in a lake. You launch them into the lake and get a lawsuit. Yeah. Last one for me is a very cute game called the Book of Unwritten Tales 2. This is an old school point and click adventure with a really charming art style, very charming characters, neat puzzles to overcome. It is very, very much an old school point and click adventure, but it's a modern take on that genre. I remember seeing this getting really excited about it. I bought it. I played it. And I was
Starting point is 00:34:07 like, bro, this has taken me back. And it's really well done. So of anybody that is looking for something completely different, insanely charming with good characters, story and puzzles and things like that. The book of Unwritten Tales, too, is a really strong recommend for me for that genre of games. So nice. All right.
