Starting point is 00:00:10 Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers podcast. Blood of Dawn Walker is out. We've been playing it, and we finally have the answer to, is this game going to be good? We've been getting our inner vampires on, watching Twilight and Blade, and prepping hard to bring you this deep dive. Before we get to what sure to be an absurd amount of vampire references, some introductions are in order. I am your host Josh and joining me we all know he can't bear to bring himself to hurt an animal so all his blood sucking was 100% grade A human
Starting point is 00:00:51 it's Ryan One dear Two dear Three dear Wow ha ha ha ha ha ha Okay There's our first vampire the count The count from Sesame Street for those people that might be older than
Starting point is 00:01:08 He's counting how many deer got away from him, Josh. 30. Oh, I thought all the deer got away. That's obvious. And joining us. He's got the pale skin of a killer. And the blood red lips of a... I don't know.
Starting point is 00:01:26 They're just always red. It's ace. It's not even the white balance. I don't even know anymore. I think it's just my face at this point. Or you're a vampire and you're just got a little bit of... I mean, I am a vampire. I live in this dark room with no windows.
Starting point is 00:01:42 So. Yeah. We're figuring it all out. You know, every now and then I write some intros and I go like, yeah, he's good. These are good. I'm going to get him good. Yep. I was proud of both of these. Well, welcome in everybody.
Starting point is 00:01:57 We are going to be deep diving blood of Dawn Walker. You know, this is a game that we really didn't know what to expect. In all honesty, if you haven't heard any of our. previous episodes number one welcome in number two go check those out um but yeah this game was really an enigma to people and nobody kind of knew what to expect i know none of us were really hyped for it not you know it was more like the week before and that's like that's when we kind of there wasn't that build up there wasn't like oh my gosh i can't wait for blood you know blood of don worker it wasn't like our most anticipated release by any means yeah and i it was morbid curiosity
Starting point is 00:02:35 more than anything to go like, what is this game going to be about? And is it going to be good? And then the reviews started coming out. The reviews were like, okay, this game seems like it's pretty good. But man, as people know nowadays, reviews are all over the place, man. You don't know what to expect from people. Things are getting tens that aren't tens. Things are getting sixes that aren't sixes.
Starting point is 00:02:56 You know, it's just one of those. It's very tough to know. So I feel like it definitely did increase our hype to see some of these good reviews coming out. but we have all been diving into it. We're going to get to our thoughts on that here. We're going to tell you what the game is about, you know, what the combat is like because it's got a kind of unique combat system. We're going to tell you whether it's worth the $70 price tag
Starting point is 00:03:18 because this is selling as a premium title. So we're going to cover all that here as we get into it. But before we get to that, guys, we got a new member of the clan, the vampire clan to thank. Yeah. And that is the one and only Chris Brown who signed up for rare status to support the podcast. So Chris, thank you very much. Thank you, Chris, for supporting the show.
Starting point is 00:03:46 You know, we don't, we would not exist if it wasn't for the support of our listeners. We are an independent podcast. We are gamers. We don't have some giant website that is, you know, saying, hey, go make a podcast and we'll just fund everything. We buy all of our own games. And so it is due to the generous nature of people like Chris who just signed up in every other one of our supporters that you all out there are able to listen to this podcast. So this is your kind of call to action that if you love what we do and you've been a listener for a while, we do need your support. I mean, you know, games are getting real expensive people.
Starting point is 00:04:23 Every time we deep dive something, it's, you know, usually it's over $200 out of pocket for us to do this. you know, we buy these games so we can give you impartial reviews. We give away a lot of games, you know, all that stuff. So that's just to say like, we're not trying to get rich. That's not our expectation with this podcast at all. But we do need your support. So if you think that that's something you want to do, there's a link in the episode description.
Starting point is 00:04:48 You can tap that. It'll take you to Patreon. Or you can just go to Patreon at VideoGamersPod and it'll take you to our page. We also give you a ton of perks as a way to say thank you. We give you, we have a pre-show that we do every single episode and a post show. So you get almost double the content, the really, get Discord access, giveaways, you know, things like that. And a shout out on the show as well. All right.
Starting point is 00:05:12 And then one other way to help the podcast. We're just getting all the housekeeping out of the way now is you can leave us a review. If you haven't done so already, you can leave a review. You can rate us five stars on Spotify that helps other gamers to know, hey, you should check these guys out. We don't suck. And so that's one way to let people know. Our motto. All right, Ryan, you got a review for us.
Starting point is 00:05:31 I do have a review. Should I read this and count, count voice? You should absolutely read this. That's what I was thinking I should do. Yeah, I feel like that's, you know, in honor of this episode. It's a givet. So this one's from Warthog 30 titled My Favorite Gaming Podcasts. Five-star review.
Starting point is 00:05:50 Again, we love all that. Thank you so much. And it reads as follows. As a 55 year old gamer, these guys have caught me on the hook. Great takes, incredible shows. All right. Thank you for keeping it real for all of us gamers. One of the full shows, it live every episode.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Ah, uh, uh, uh. Blah, Blah. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Yeah. I, well, thank you for the awesome of you for why I understood it. That kind of accent was all over the page.
Starting point is 00:06:36 It was pretty good sounding. Josh, I saw you just turn your head down and I couldn't keep going. It's just like what? It's Transylvania. It's German. It's like, where's just the going, man? He turned it to the guy from despicable me there for a little bit.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Yeah. Yeah. grew for a little while there. All right. It was, it was. It was a valiant effort, Ryan. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But also, thank you for the review there.
Starting point is 00:07:02 And again, if you haven't left us one, please leave us a review. All right, guys, let's get into this. All right. I want to talk a little bit about, we always do this when we deep dive a game, is your mindset going into this game. Because as I found out, and I'm just going to be, we're completely up front and honest with people. Anytime we cover a game, we say what we think. We say, you know, hey, I got this much play time. minute and that kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:07:29 How you approach a game matters. I was very excited for Blood of Dawn Walker. Also, this is a very in-depth RPG. The biggest comp that we've gotten is, hey, it's made by X Witcher Debs, so it's basically like, you know, a clone of like Witcher 3, which is not that far, you know, out of, the realm of, like, being truthful. Yeah. But, you know, what was your mind?
Starting point is 00:07:56 mindset going into this. Like we already talked about, hey, we weren't really hyped for this. It was more curiosity than anything. But I always like to kind of give people, like, were you looking forward to this?
Starting point is 00:08:05 Were you kind of like, I don't know if I'm going to like this? Like, what was your mindset going into this, Ryan? For me, I, man, I felt like it was, it was something that we haven't experienced.
Starting point is 00:08:18 Like, what was the last time you played a really good vampire game? You know? Like something that was, that was part of the issue. That was the thing. It's like, I mean, V rising, maybe?
Starting point is 00:08:27 Dude, and what is one of the most craziest supernatural beings in all of, like, you know, existence is a freaking vampire, dude. Like, they have all these crazy abilities, all the stuff. I mean, there's endless movies about these, these things or beans or whatever you want to call them. Why don't we have a ton of really good video games that you have all these abilities? You can turn into bats or disappear or have super super. strength or speed or whatever it may be. So I was genuinely curious what we would get from a legit studio that used to work on, you know, Witcher, like, they have some credentials behind them, what we were going to get
Starting point is 00:09:11 and what it would look like for that world because I wanted to see something like that. And I was genuinely excited. Like, we talked about in the pre-show, like, we weren't, we didn't really think about this. and it kind of snuck up on us when it came about. And it was like a week before launch. But man, I was once that happened, then I'm like, man, I kind of, I really want to see what this is and what what this game, you know, encompasses. So yeah, I was, I was closer to when it was actually going to launch. I really got excited.
Starting point is 00:09:43 But before it was, it was kind of like non-existent. But I was very excited once we got real close. Yeah. I have a hard time, especially with like doing this podcast, getting into those in-depth. RPGs because we just don't have the desired time to sink into them usually. And that's usually, you know, a pretty negative for when you really need to immerse yourself in a game for a long time. But I was pretty hyped to put some time into blood of Dawn Walker because I knew I had a
Starting point is 00:10:10 week off coming up. Yeah. Yeah. Having vacation and a game like this to really dive into coincides really, really well. I, you know, I was not very hyped for this game. It was more just we didn't know what to expect. you know, the reviews started coming out. I'll be honest, like, we're gamers.
Starting point is 00:10:27 I'm a sucker. If a game starts getting stellar reviews, my hype level goes up. Like, and I know there's people that are going to have, they're like, oh, you guys review games, you shouldn't be influenced. I'm like, dude, we're gamers. Like, first and foremost, we are susceptible to really cool trailers and really good reviews and things like that. Yeah, it's what happens when we don't get the early copies, too.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Yeah, but I mean, there's a reason, you know, that like I said, so it's one of those things. like we are gamers, we're just like you out there. And so when a game comes out and it starts getting 10 out of tens and nine out of tens and things like that, our interest gets peaked. And we go, ooh, is this going to be amazing? So that definitely helped my hype level. Now, I was, I thought that I was really in the mood for a really good in-depth RPG. The last one that I played was Expedition 33. And that was over a year ago.
Starting point is 00:11:17 Now, I love that game and I generally tend to love these games. But I'm going to be honest with everybody. my life for the last month and a half has been sheer chaos. You know, my job requires that I work nights, weekends from basically August through the middle of September. I don't, like, legitimately, I don't get a day off. There's no time during any time period in that month and a half where I can just dedicate like five, six hours without being glued to my laptop and having to do work. and that absolutely affected like my kind of position on this game because I was really excited and I did dive in.
Starting point is 00:11:56 You know, I got about, I think I'm 13 to 14 hours into Blood of Dawn Walker. And then I just went, and I even told you guys this and we don't normally share thoughts, but I kind of went, guys, I don't think I can really get into this right now. You know what I mean? Like I'm trying, but this is just the wrong time for me to play a game like this. know, and the reason that I'm bringing this up is number one, transparency. I did not roll credits on this game. Now I know a lot of people out there are like, duh, you never roll. Surprise, surprise. But at the same time, it is, I want people to understand that, like, I am the person that is 14 hours into this game, and that is my experience with it. Now, I know you guys, I believe both rolled credits on this. Is that right? Or, Ryan, you're like super duper close in. I'm pretty far. I'm over 20 hours in. I roll credits twice. Ace roll credits twice. I have not rolled credits, but I'm over 20 hours into the game. So I got a good stack in.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Like three different viewpoints from different like angles and play times on this game. Honestly, I think that gives a good perspective on the game itself and how it progresses for somebody like me to Ryan to Ace who's rolled credits on it twice. But it is also just a reminder that as gamers, the type of games that we play and when we play them absolutely matter. You know? And anytime you see online discourse, because that's what we see, and somebody's like, yeah, I don't know if this game really resonated with me,
Starting point is 00:13:20 or I freaking loved this game, a lot of that plays into the, I don't want to say the period of life that you're in, but just where you're at with like what kind of games you're in the mood for, you know, at the same time there. Since this is a game that you have to spend a lot of time on, you spend a lot of time in bed, right? How does it Steam Deck? Does this game Steam Deck?
Starting point is 00:13:42 Oh, are we doing the Steam Deck thing? Go ahead. Tell me. All right. So, man, I wish we had like some sort of thing. There's no way. So, okay. So if you turn all the settings all the way to low on Steam Deck, it sucks. To be fair, it doesn't say Steam Deck certified. I tried. I downloaded it. And it honestly, it took a long time for the Steam Deck to download it.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Once I got it done, I went in, and immediately it was all at Ultra still because it had all my cloud settings. And I was like, whoa, I got to change this. And so I took it all the way like to low. And then even still, it's kind of like a little janky, which we'll get into like. Yeah, we'll get to the performance. The jankiness of the game as a whole like. But, but yeah. So Steam Deck would not recommend.
Starting point is 00:14:41 You probably could get away with it if you really wanted to. but to experience the game as what it was designed for, I would not play it on the Steam deck. There's a reason this isn't on the Switch 2. Yeah. Yeah. There you go, that too. All right,
Starting point is 00:14:55 we're going to get into the nitty gritty because this game opens up in spectacular fashion, in my opinion. Like, I don't know that there's like an intro to a game that kind of kicks off quite as good as Blood of Dawn Walker does. So we're going to talk about that. We're going to get into all the details right after this break. All right, guys. we've talked about kind of our hype level going into this,
Starting point is 00:15:18 the curiosity factor, where we were at with it as we started to play Blood of Dawn Walker. You know, I will say, dude, I love, like, just lore.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I'm super into monsters. I played dungeon dragons my whole life. So vampires, I think, are super cool. And this game just gets right into it with the opening cinematics and what's going on to set the stage for this. I thought,
Starting point is 00:15:45 They did a masterful job with the opening sequence in this and the cut scenes and kind of setting the stage for Blood of Dawn Walker. You play as Cohen. You know, you see this in the trailers, but, you know, you're not just born a vampire. You haven't been a vampire your whole life. All of this, you get figured out in the first like 10 minutes. So this really isn't any kind of spoilers. You mean I'm not vampire born? No.
Starting point is 00:16:08 Oh, my gosh. I thought that's like, right? Don't give devs any ideas, dude. Don't give them any ideas. Mark my words within a few years. going to be a vampire born. Vamp born. No,
Starting point is 00:16:17 they'll call it. What if they called that blood born? Oh, that's not the same. Yeah, you can't do that. Yeah, I know. I don't get you sued. Right? So, so, you know, the game opens up.
Starting point is 00:16:33 These cutscenes are incredible. I remember watching it just being like, oh my gosh. Like, this is insane. And then you guys basically both went, did you guys get through the opening? And we're like, yeah. And you're like, what on earth, dude? So fantastic way to start off a game with the being introduced into the kind of the main villain and how you became this Dawn Walker. What did you guys think of the opening for this?
Starting point is 00:16:55 I thought it was sick, how it sets up like how the Vrachiri, I guess is what they call them, took over the modern kingdom and sort of walled off the valley. And now this is the setting you're in. Or it's like where once you had Christianity, it's been warped and twisted with Vrathkiri religion and long. and you're just like, oh, this is dark. This is really dark. Yeah. Big time. Big time.
Starting point is 00:17:23 It's like blood religion. Yeah. Well, literally, quite literally. Yeah. It's just one of those things, too, where it takes a lot for us. We always try to keep our thoughts to ourselves and we don't really talk a lot about what we do before, you know, we do these episodes for the deep dive. So it's fresh, organic and. real um but we all all of us were like man like just said did you guys see that opening scene like
Starting point is 00:17:52 this is crazy and it takes a lot for you to genuinely be that excited about just an opening cinematic to a game and so i think they did such a good job to get you not only hyped and excited but drawn into what this story entails what you're going to have to do and excited to progress within the game. So I think the setup was phenomenal 10 out of 10 on the setup for sure. Yep. Yeah. Yep. I agree. So it really does draw you in. You're kind of invested right off the beginning. The main character Cohen, because of what he goes through and what do he witnesses, you can definitely empathize with him. So I thought he is a, he's no gerald of Rivia in my opinion. I say he doesn't really have like a winning personality or something that really stands out about him,
Starting point is 00:18:40 but he's convincing enough. Like he's not like number one video game. game character of 2026 by any means. We're not picking this guy in the draft very often, but he's serviceable as like a main character at the same time. Like I didn't, he wasn't annoying. I didn't find myself like hating his dialogue or being like, oh, this guy's such a tool or.
Starting point is 00:18:58 He's killed a lot of villagers in my playthrough. I don't know. Yeah, maybe you shouldn't do that. I don't know about that. Yeah. So the game gets going, you know, the premise, and again, this is not spoiler because they show this in the trailers, is that you become a Dawn Walker.
Starting point is 00:19:12 You are vampire by night and a human during the and the game splits this. This is a major component of the game, by the way, is that what happens at night and your vampire abilities and what happens during the day and your human abilities, although your human abilities are augmented because of your vampire... Well, you also have that you can't access at night.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Yeah, you do get... Yes, and that's like one of the things that kind of coincides with that at the same time. So you get kind of thrown into the world with the objective of, hey, big bad vampire guy took over the valley and your family and you have 30 days to save your family, basically, to fight the big bad vampire guys and, you know, save everybody, but mostly just your family is your main concern.
Starting point is 00:19:56 So then the game kind of turns you loose and puts you out into this fairly large open world. It's funny because I saw like a review or a preview or something that was like, you know, there is an open world, but it's fairly small. And then I went, bro, who's considering this small? What? What are we doing nowadays? It's pretty big when you have to walk everywhere. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:18 This is true. You do have to walk a lot of places, but the game does a good job of kind of sending you on your way, like any good RPG should. I will say unlike the Witcher 3, because we are going to make a lot of comparisons, because that's the closest comparison in just the vibe and the feel of this game. Like, guys, I know it's X Witcher devs, and so they have this like familiarity. but even like the music and like the the little like when you win a flight and it's like we have the Witcher at home feeling sometimes very much so very much so and I kind of started laughing with how much they made it sound like the Witcher with some of like the post-combat musical flares and that kind of stuff and I was like okay eating a raw these guys are
Starting point is 00:21:06 obviously showcase yeah yeah like honestly um whatever that's only two percent over 10 seconds anyways. Oh, it's terrible. It's terrible. Yeah, it's so bad. Make a potion. Yeah. So, well, let's talk about it because, you know, exploration is exploration.
Starting point is 00:21:22 You know, you have this world. I will say, I think the world is beautifully crafted. It is interesting to me to look around. We'll get into a little bit more specifics a little bit later as far as just wandering around. But the combat. The combat and blood of Dawn Walker was a big thing that everybody was like, well, what's it feel like? You know, and we've seen previews again, if you've watched any of the trailers, where in the combat, this has the directional attack and blocking system of a game like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2,
Starting point is 00:21:50 where you have to pay attention to which angle they are attacking from and you have to block to that side. Now, there is a little indicator on your reticle that kind of says, hey, block up. And then you go, oh, I got to block up. And then if you do that properly, you block the attack. and if you get good at this, you can become pretty, pretty good at fighting you. Like, there is definitely some skill
Starting point is 00:22:14 to this system. But what did you guys think about the combat in this ace? Did you feel like this was unique enough? Did you feel like it was fun enough? Was it challenging enough? Like, incredibly fresh and fun to use. Like, I really enjoyed the combat,
Starting point is 00:22:26 especially when you would pull off like a parry from behind. I did too. And you just heard, and then you just get to counter immediately. And it's like, oh. Because it's so scary when you get surrounded. Oh, yeah, because you think you're dead. Like, you think it's over and you see all the arrows come in at once.
Starting point is 00:22:42 And you're like, oh, no. Yeah. The only thing I didn't like about the combat was just like, stealth was never, ever an option. Oh, there's no stealth. There is no. Like, anytime I was just trying to use, like, the drain ability from, like, far away to grab one guy, it made so much noise that they all would come out.
Starting point is 00:23:01 And I was like, oh. Yeah, I think. Um, I'll get to the combat stuff, but like, uh, for the, the vampiric part of it, uh, with the combat. The no stealth is such a miss, dude. How are you going to have, how are you going to have a vampire that doesn't have stealth? That you can't just like, you can turn into smoke, dude. How can you not snap in, smoke a dude and kill him and then just get out of there and then go and do another? Yeah, poof, poof, poof, poof.
Starting point is 00:23:35 and take them all out, you can adjust the difficulty on the characters or like the range or whatever it needs to be. I think that was a huge miss for the developers with that section of the combat. Having said that, I loved the combat in this game. I had so much fun, dude. I sought out fights so I could try to get as many people around me in dodge roll and pocket sand. and then like blood curse them and then and then like just parry everything and and try to time everything it was and it's punishing man they're there they're yeah they're very there's some spots and i know josh i think you played it a little bit like i did about five hours of
Starting point is 00:24:23 my gameplay uh maybe maybe more honestly was just going to somewhere that i shouldn't have been and then brute forcing it like because like i'm like i'm like i'm not going to let these guys beat me and i shouldn't be here but i'm gonna beat this and later on i went through and i'm like oh this is all super easy and i went through and it was fine but that area like you just it's it's being able to to have that switch and you can add in an attack you can see the arrow come when you see an enemy if there's another one in the group and they're surrounding you you can you can go off and deflect that and parry it which i thought was so cool because like it gives you the advantage should just at least survive when you have five against one or something like that.
Starting point is 00:25:10 So I really, really genuinely enjoyed the combat. I thought it was very, very well done. I sought out combat, and that's always a good sign for the mechanics. Yeah, I don't know what I don't know what to say, man. I loved it. Do you know the highest level difficulty removes the directional arrows from the counter? I was one below the highest level is what I did. No way.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Yeah. You can actually. Actually, this is something that is a testament to the development of this game is that, you know, yes, I did. I played with like you, Ryan, one down. So not the hardest level where the directional indicator disappears. But once you get used to it and you kind of start locking in on the game, you know, you can actually kind of tell which direction they're attacking from. Yeah. And then you don't need the indicator quite as much.
Starting point is 00:25:55 Like, yes, you really have to be locked in and pay attention to the animations. But the animations are good enough that it's like, oh, this guy's swiping at me from the left, you know, and then you know, you got a lock that way. I'm with you guys. You know, from, I don't think that to trailers and, and the previews for this game give a, or a good indicator of how fun the combat is in this game. It is 100% skill-based, in my opinion. It's not a button masher for sure. It's not a, it's not a, hey, I'm just going to wreck everything with my vampire abilities either, you know? No. This is very much, like, if you play it skillfully and you are good at parrying and you're paying attention and you hit your parries and your counters and
Starting point is 00:26:33 things like that, like you can beat things that you probably shouldn't be fighting at the time. And that's exactly what I did. Like, I admittedly played this game a little bit like Eldon Ring. Because I spent a lot of time exploring and I got into a lot of places that I probably should not have been and fighting either encampments of people or creatures that I came across that would one shot me. But then I'm like, I bet if I just parry all that, I might be able to beat this guy. And like there was a time where I was fighting an encampment of like five soldiers that were way higher level than me.
Starting point is 00:27:10 And I spent probably an hour like trying to just kill these five guys because I was like, no, you're not going to beat me. Like I can do this. You know what I mean? Because that's the combat in this game. It lends itself to you can do it. Now it's not easy. But I wound up beating those guys. Now I didn't get hardly anything for it because I don't think I should have really been there.
Starting point is 00:27:31 No. No. I did it. And that, to me, felt really, really good. And a combat system like that, I freaking love. I will say the rewards for, like, taking out enemies is usually pretty good. They'll have these, like, books with, like, skill tree unlocks or they'll have, like, you know, recipes. It's totally worth, like, taken out.
Starting point is 00:27:49 Which I'm always scared to click because then he goes, wow. Oh, yeah, you get demon jump scared every time. And it's just like, ah! Every single time. Yeah, you get that glimpse into the vampire world. Yeah. So, in my opinion, combat is. great. I do know that a couple people because this was a popular
Starting point is 00:28:07 review, somebody, like a reviewer said, hey, if you get really skillful at the combat, it becomes kind of trivial. Because once you master the system, then you can kind of just kill anything. That's any game. This is where, this is where, like, I didn't see that. Like, this game felt challenging
Starting point is 00:28:23 to me. And so, to me, the combat system works great. I think it is a highlight of the game, not in any way a detriment to this game, like, at all. Wouldn't a mind more weapon variety than just the sword. That's true.
Starting point is 00:28:37 I felt like the bunch of swords. I felt like it didn't matter. Yeah, I felt like that didn't. And I preferred, I know Ace, you and I talked about, you were saying how much the clause wreck, the clause wreck. You were a big clause guy.
Starting point is 00:28:48 And I was like, man, I kind of even when I'm a vampire, I like the sword. But once I switch, I'm like, oh, okay, like I can see how the claws are really wrecked. You're un-punishable with the claws.
Starting point is 00:28:57 Yeah, it's just like, fail. Yeah. And, yeah, you can just really attack them. But I didn't notice. a big difference other than maybe some slight perks with with the weapons and the swords like and even they all kind of they all look the same too like which yeah they all kind of sucks like and i know it's it's dumb to like want the swords are like this one has a green hilt this one has a blue hill and this one attack slightly faster and this one attacks slightly slower i will say the
Starting point is 00:29:22 weapon variety it would have been really need to get like a wide variety of weapons in there to just kind of change up the combat style but the combat really does work in this game and i feel like it's a plus, like a big plus for how this, this game actually plays out at the same time. 100%. 100%. And I'm going to interrupt you real quick. Whoever said that about if you master it, it gets boring. Screw you, dude.
Starting point is 00:29:44 Like, what do you think is going to happen if you master it? Like, what it? Like, how can that be a negative? Oh, no, I'm good at the video games. Oh, no, I'm too good. It's a man, I got too good and I perfected it. Oh, it doesn't. That's when he bumping up a difficulty, pal.
Starting point is 00:30:00 It's ridiculous. dude. Yeah. I mean, honestly, that's any skill-based combat. Like, if you're just really, really skillful, like, guess what? You're probably not going to struggle very much, you know? But that's part of the fun is improving your skills and your abilities and that kind of thing at the same time. All right.
Starting point is 00:30:18 I want to touch on a major part of this game, and you guys kind of led into it with your conversation about the claws versus the sword. That is this dual cycle. Yes. All right? This is a really, really big part of this game. and I don't know that it works for everybody. I have seen comments on how they implemented it. I'm mixed on it.
Starting point is 00:30:36 You know, what's that? I'm pretty mixed on it, honestly. Yeah, and that's why I want to spend a little bit of time on this. So in the daytime, you are just your normal human co-and-self, and you walk around and you're human and you talk to people and they don't know you're a vampire. You do get witchcraft. That happens very early in the game, so that's not really a spoiler,
Starting point is 00:30:55 so that you do have some magical abilities as a human. And then as soon as night, hits, boom, vampire Cohen emerges. You just kind of, you have like a glow to your eye. You don't like vamp out and become some like mega hulking demon vampire thing or something, you know, but
Starting point is 00:31:12 yeah, you know, now you're a vampire and you get access to your vampire abilities and you can run around and like you said, you can pull out your vampire claws and you can fight with those if you want to and you get access to a different set of skills during the nighttime that you don't get access to during the daytime
Starting point is 00:31:28 and vice versa. Did you guys have a preference? Like, did you prefer daytime? Did you prefer nighttime? And how did this system work for you? I way, way preferred nighttime because you had so many more traversal options. It's like, it was awful swapping back from that to the daytime, especially because I hadn't unlocked the like freaking daytime run yet.
Starting point is 00:31:50 So I was just walking everywhere versus when I would go into vampire form, I could use the wolf transformation. Now I'm running through the entire valley. plus you had the teleport you had the ability to like teleport two enemies and bite them like there was just so much more you could do i didn't feel like the witchcraft makes up for that on the day side as much what about you ryan how'd you feel about this kind of two part cycle thing with this game so i i genuinely loved the two part because um the thing i what they did that was so good is that with that time system is you spend enough time
Starting point is 00:32:29 as that one side where you start to get in a flow and you forget about the night time. And you're, you're, you're, it's in the day you have to, you have to do your other attacks. You use your witchcraft, use your other abilities. And then next thing you know, come, the, the, the sun goes down and it's nighttime and you're a vampire again. And then you have all your other abilities. And you're like, oh yeah, I got all this now. And then you, it's like a reset every day, like, or half day, I guess you will. Um, and so I thought it was really, really cool how it kept like segmenting into like two different sections.
Starting point is 00:33:06 So I would almost forget about the other side as I was playing and then it would reset me. And it would like reinvigorate me into that next mode. And so I, I loved the two part system. I thought it was awesome. I enjoyed it. It, uh, it was a lot of fun. I wish I would, what I would prefer. It would be nice to have a horse.
Starting point is 00:33:29 for sure. But like, they have, they have roach in this. Then it's too much the Witcher. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Like I, I, I mean, it's, it's a big map, but it's not that big of a map. And like, you don't have to go too far.
Starting point is 00:33:44 One I would prefer more. I almost want to say like, uh, a regular Cohen. Because I loved the different abilities I had. And then the, I just was a sword guy before the, the clause.
Starting point is 00:33:57 But I do recognize the abilities with like the vampire. and wall climbing and all that cool stuff. So, but as far as just straight combat and all that, you know, I don't know. It was, I'm with you, Ryan. Yeah. I'm with you. I actually think I prefer, I actually think that the, the day night cycle enhances the game. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Oh, for sure. Touched on it where it's like if I'm wandering around during the day and I'm just co-in and I'm doing quests and I'm talking to people and I'm trying to find some guy to help and all that, this is where, and this is weird to me, but it's like, this is where the game felt like the Witcher to me. Like, you know, it's daytime. You're wandering around. You're exploring. You are human and you're helping people and you're doing your quests and you're going here
Starting point is 00:34:41 and you're doing that. And then the sun would set and now you become vampire Cohen. And it's like, okay, well now like because I'm a vampire and because I can walk on walls and I can teleport, I need to work on the quests now, right? Like this is where I have to focus on like the main story part because I can't access these things during the day because it don't have my vampire powers. And normally, like, having access to powers seems like it's more fun. But I felt like the, it just, to me, it's weird because I think I actually preferred the
Starting point is 00:35:13 daytime in this game. It didn't make any difference to me. It didn't matter what time it was. I was doing what request I was still doing. Really? I mean, it's not like you can't pass. I still went to that person. But I would go in, like, to a village and I'd be like, where is everybody?
Starting point is 00:35:26 You know, like, nobody will talk to me, you know, that you can't talk to anyone. You can't buy anything and stuff. stuff like they're like get away it kind of changes your focus like yeah at night time i felt like the focus was different than when it was daytime and they both work and i think ultimately having the game switching through these two cycles and how it affected you actually did help to keep things fresh but also at the same time there were times where i was working on something and then it was like i'm trying to help somebody or do something and i'm like no no i don't want it to be not yet like no and then it would turn night and i'm like dang it i just i was
Starting point is 00:36:00 so close to doing what I wanted to do, but it wanted to be night yet. Or vice versa. You get busy doing your vampire stuff and then dawn is coming. And, you know, because you're a dawn walk, you don't have to worry about dying or anything. But then it's like, but now you lose all your vampire powers. And I'm like, but I'm not done exploring this tower. And I need to be able to walk on these walls to do that. And then the sun would come up and then you're like, well, crap, I guess I'm coming back to this later. So I think ultimately it's a good thing. I will say that this was where one of the first technical issues. and I think they do this on purpose. But like, you just become naked.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Like when it switches from like day to night and night to day, like guess what? Like all of your armor, all of your weapons. Did they fix it? Yeah. You have two different loadouts now. So you could just. Yeah, but it's weird. I don't, this is where it gets a little wonky because I think I like the day night system and how it changes the focus.
Starting point is 00:36:54 But I think they went a little too far. You don't want to be too much. You don't want it to be too much. And I think they took it one step too far with this like two different inventories where you have your vampire inventory. It's a little bit much to keep track of for sure. And then it's like, guys, I know you're trying to separate day from night, but like, let's not get too crazy here. Like, you don't need to make me swap out my inventory. Like, you're telling me vampire Cohen can't wear armor that like daytime Cohen can wear at the same time.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Like, come on, man. This is, it's getting a little complicated for like for no valid reason at that point. Yeah. It's not helping the lore. it's not helping the gameplay. Like, I don't know. That was just dumb. So, um,
Starting point is 00:37:34 technical issues. The day and night cycle, how it works, like how it is, well, we just talked about it. Well, it's eight,
Starting point is 00:37:39 well, you know, it shifts. You use eight, you use time as a currency. Basically. I was going to get to the time thing because that's the other big, so I was going to talk about technical issues,
Starting point is 00:37:48 but let's talk about time before we jump into that. Because this is the other main thing that I think makes this game unique, but it also really worried a lot of people. It is what's scaring people away from it right now, too, is that it has a strict, you know, the 30-day time limit. That's eight day segments, eight-night segments for 30 days. That seems pretty intimidating. Like, how are you going to spend that time?
Starting point is 00:38:12 It's not nearly as bad as you think. Like, yeah, it's not bad. There's so much stuff you can do in the overworld that doesn't spend a single hour of your time. And it, even still, like, it's not. I think, I think it is an interesting worry and it is an interesting mechanic because it makes you really have to decide on your decisions, right? Like if it's like, hey, I've unlocked this ability and I have this book that'll teach me this new skill, but I have to spend two time segments to learn this skill. Is it worth it? Is it worth it to do right now? Or do I do it later? Because if you do
Starting point is 00:38:44 it late, it could swap day into night and vice versa. Whereas if it's the beginning of the, if it's dawn, two hours is nothing, right? Like, okay, I'll just blow these two hours and then you got that. I know there's a lot of people that were hesitant about this. I will say the time system is very forgiving. Most people that I know that beat the game, Ace, you can verify this. It's like they had days, like days left. I had 10 days left. That's why I was able to load back in and get another ending.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Like literally. I like it in theory because it does make your decisions matter. Like if you go help this person on this side quest, you're going to lose three time blocks, but then maybe you get a really cool piece of gear out of it. So is it worth it at that point? I think it's just to make people think, you know. I don't love it on the skill tree. I do not love it on the skill tree because you're already spending a skill point,
Starting point is 00:39:35 but then you're also being forced to spend time. Also wasting time. Yeah. Well, and you have to have a skill book that you have to find to unlock the skill. So it's like, which is it people? It's pretty dang, like, rude to me when I'm like, oh, I'll level up my run speed or my medium armor. And then it's like, oh, yeah, day passed while you were doing that.
Starting point is 00:39:51 It was like, yeah. This is one where I think they went a little too far, just like, the dual inventory for day night. It's like it is a great idea. You just took it one step too far. People like just let people learn skills without blowing through their time bank on this one. But for anybody that's worried, the time system is very forgiving. It's not, you're not going to run out of it.
Starting point is 00:40:12 I mean, unless you're just like a hundred percent completionist or something, you're really not going to run out of time. You know, it's the game's pretty forgiving in that aspect. So I do think it's a neat. It is a neat feature. I think they took it a little too far with the. you have to spend time to learn skills, but also this is not something
Starting point is 00:40:29 to be concerned with like, is this going to ruin my enjoyment of the game because I'm going to run out of time. Play it like you're not even on a time limit and you'll be fine. Yeah, that's honestly the best advice. All right. Well, this game is not perfect.
Starting point is 00:40:42 Ryan, you almost quit playing. Ace, you had some major issues day one. Both of you experienced multiple crashes. Ryan, so much so that you were like, bro, screw this game, man. I did. I said this game was made of popsicle sticks and glitter on this. So for me, I could not, I mean, among many issues, you know, Steam Deck not included.
Starting point is 00:41:12 I could not get OBS to even just like be running, let alone recording. And then I couldn't stream. I couldn't do anything with this without it just trying to blow up. my whole computer and um i'm like i played a lot of games a lot of very uh graphically intensive demanding games and it's never ever had an issue and then this thing just can't handle it so um there was definitely definitely some technical issues that i ran into um with with trying to just play this and then maybe doing any sort of of streaming or recording or trying to capture I'm just trying to capture what we're playing
Starting point is 00:41:57 and it's like V RAM max blah blah blah blah blah and just shut down everything I'm like what the heck are you talking about I got 32 gigs of RAM that's like worth millions in this market right now it's millions of dollars worth of RAM
Starting point is 00:42:12 right now bro I wouldn't be advertising I was like a computer strip like a house on the wire people are going to come here and take it all but yeah it's it was it was interesting
Starting point is 00:42:23 so big bomber I would think optimization of which I'm sure we'll get to here shortly I think could be a little bit better this game desperately needed to be optimized
Starting point is 00:42:39 there we go $70 this game is $70 if you are going to charge me $70 for a game it darn well better work if I meet the PC specs and I do I meet the PC specs but running this game not in full screen or even in windowed or any kind of thing that wasn't the full screen on like higher to medium graphics,
Starting point is 00:43:02 it crashed every 30 to 40 minutes. I was losing my mind because this is an RPG. You want to be able to invest yourself in it. And like every time I would get to a cutscene from like combat to cutscene or whatever, game just crashed. It's like, oh, you want to send crash report? Yeah, I do want to send the crash report. With a lot of expletives right here.
Starting point is 00:43:28 Okay. Here's the other thing, though. It's a $70 game. It looks good enough for a $70 game. There's so much clipping. There's way too much, like, model clipping. There's a lot of graphical glitches. There's a lot of graphical issues here for you to be charging me $70 for this game.
Starting point is 00:43:44 So I didn't get any crashes. I didn't crash at all. And I felt terrible for both you because I was like, what's going on over there, man? Like, why are you guys just crashing nonstop? I didn't crash at all. like thankfully. Thankfully. Um,
Starting point is 00:43:57 but I will say that there were glitches, you know, ACE, the clipping, uh, you know, they're minor. These are like,
Starting point is 00:44:02 sometimes it's like, it can be a minor thing, but if it's prevalent enough, it starts to become a little bit annoying. Um, you know, performance wise. Now,
Starting point is 00:44:09 you know, Ryan and I have pretty darn beefy computers and GPUs and all that stuff. Um, so I, for me, performance was fine. Um, but there were some little hiccups here and there.
Starting point is 00:44:22 There were like world loading where I'm sprinting through the world. and you'd get that little hiccup where it's trying to, like, load or render something. You know, the hair in this game is not done very well. Like, that's just a kind of graphical. I'm just going to call it a glitch at that point because the hair is pretty abysmal. But, I mean, overall, for me, my experience was pretty good, technically, you know?
Starting point is 00:44:46 I mean, there's a couple little things. Like you said, Ace Clipping and, you know, a couple of these things. Like, you know, they fix the bug where your inventory, you would just be naked whenever the new cycle of dawn or, or dusk started. And then it's like, where'd all my equipment go? Like, what the heck is this? You know?
Starting point is 00:45:00 And then it's like, oh, I've been running around naked this whole time. I slid down a mountainside one time. I got sent into the stratosphere. Yeah. Yeah, I remember he was mentioning that. Yeah. So, you know, performance is one of those things that it's always going to vary based on your computer and your hardware and things like that.
Starting point is 00:45:17 That's one of those. I'm sure that they'll fix a lot of this stuff. I mean, the game's been out for, what, like two weeks now? And they're already working on some of this stuff. So, you know, be aware it's not a insanely polished game. But then again, neither was The Witcher 3. Neither was cyberpunk. Neither was, you know, pick a big title game.
Starting point is 00:45:36 Did you guys have any issues when you were like in combat of getting like kind of hung up on an item or something? Like terrain or something like that? Yeah, that happened. Yeah. Collision detection is a little wonky sometimes. That was honestly like far and away one of my biggest issues, like especially with the combat and stuff. like I would get hung up on like a tree stump and I'm like trying to roll away and there's just like all these guys coming towards me and I'm like I'm trying I'm trying I'm trying and then I'm in the area I shouldn't be I know I shouldn't be there but like I had the time to get away and then boom they one shot me and I'm dead and it would make me so mad to where I wanted to just quit the game because I was like there's no reason I shouldn't have gotten away so there's there's definitely a lot and I know. know we talked about this and we said it, uh, just kind of privately do each other.
Starting point is 00:46:28 We didn't give our, our total opinions, but we said, like, this needs some polish. Like, there's a lot there that can be fixed. And I hope it does. Like, I really, really do. Like, I think there's a lot that can be fixed, but I think that there's a lot there, you know, for, for people to love. Yeah, the one thing that really, really annoyed me is I killed this giant beast and I was trying to loot it because it had a quest item on it.
Starting point is 00:46:51 Yeah. No matter what angle I came at that corpse from. the loop button would not show up. I went to the other side of the cave, and then there the loop button was. Oh, no. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:03 What the heck? Yeah, that's a little weird. Yeah, I mean, you know, it almost reminds me of like the games of old where there's just a certain amount of built-in jank. Yeah. It's definitely got a little jank to it. None of it is groundbreaking,
Starting point is 00:47:17 except for y'all's crashing, which was crazy. Not fun. But, I mean, if you're not crashing, the amount of jank and performance is like, it's almost like it's weird because it's like you know we don't want it but like as long term gamers like older gamers we're kind of used to a little bit of jank and i remember saying this with like stalker too where that's like yeah just enough jank is is a little comforting you know what i mean at the same time so i don't i don't hate it um but i know you two were getting really really aggravated
Starting point is 00:47:45 with how often you were crashing on this too at the same time so all right guys let's move in we've talked about the game let's let's move into our final thoughts on this one. Ace, as the person that rolled credits twice, I'm going to start with you on this one. All right. What do you think of Blood of Dawn Walker? What would you rate it? And is it worth $70? I think
Starting point is 00:48:05 Blood of Don Walker is actually really freaking good. The combat is fun. The characters are all really good. The different factions you can interact with and work with in order to get these different endings. I enjoy the time system, honestly. It's a cool, like, neat thing that makes this whole
Starting point is 00:48:21 series unique if this is what they're going for, This is going to be a ongoing series from what I know. My issues usually are obviously came from the performance as well as just like the witchcraft feels very underbaked and underused. Yeah, that seemed like an afterthought. It seems very much like we want to give your human form something cool to do, but we don't know how. And it,
Starting point is 00:48:44 it's very much shows because it's just nothing you could really do about it. But I love how in this RPG, your choices matter. Your choices matter a lot. In fact, they matter so much that if you do roll credits, you'll find out just how much every little thing you did affected things. Now, four rating. Factoring everything together, moving my biases of crashing so many times aside, this is easily, it's an eight out of ten game for me. I think this is a very good game. Eight out of ten?
Starting point is 00:49:15 Eight out ten. But cost-wise, I don't think it's $70. maybe 60 maybe 50 not 70 it's just a lot to ask for this game all right I like I like the silence
Starting point is 00:49:32 to just make Ace wonder if like did I get it wrong guys I don't care if I got it wrong for you $70 is a lot for a game no I was just doing that on purpose because I was like you know I'm like all right this is where I jump in and throw it to Ryan but I was like let's make
Starting point is 00:49:44 a little bit let's put a little bit on it sorry I finished it at least so I got my money Yeah, that's fair. You did? Well, you finish it twice. I knew, I knew Ace liked it when I was in bed and it was like nine something. And I'm like, 10, 11.
Starting point is 00:49:59 I was like, man, it's like after midnight. And I was like playing Dawn of Blood Walker. And I'm like, dang, I was like, Ace likes this game. I was like, I know he does for sure. And which I do as well. I genuinely think, I think this is a really good game. And I think there's a lot there. there's
Starting point is 00:50:20 I guess to use the cliche it's got good bones there's really really good bones with this game I'm not too enthralled with the characters
Starting point is 00:50:31 especially the main one I didn't feel drawn in with anyone to where I was like connected to them to like some crazy amount but I think the
Starting point is 00:50:42 the gameplay superseded that I had a lot of fun I enjoyed the world. I enjoyed exploring the world. I sought combat. I looked for interaction. I looked to do more things. Item system, crafting, all of those things were kind of really meh. I didn't feel any desire to learn them to get better with them, to find out what more I could do. I didn't really need it. I didn't really feel like I wanted to do it. It was kind of just there.
Starting point is 00:51:21 The, gosh, the biggest thing, like I said a minute ago, man, those hang-ups trying to do in combat, it's janky, man. There's a bunch of glitches and jankiness within this game. The amount of times I would like hip into something and then I couldn't get out of it or I'm trying to pull out my sword and I couldn't and just weird stuff. that you don't get if you pay $70 for a video game, that's a big issue. I guess I'll give my score first. I am going to give this an 8.5.
Starting point is 00:51:58 I thought it was a very, very good game. I had a ton of fun. I'm going to continue playing and have a bunch more fun if they make more content and want to tighten it up, figure out some of the other aspects of it and make things a little bit better performance-wise,
Starting point is 00:52:19 I would be all for that. But it's, yeah, it's an 8.5 for me. And as far as a $70 price tag, I would not say it's worth that. I think this thing needed a little bit more time in the oven to really bake and get right.
Starting point is 00:52:37 There's something here. It's a really good game. It's a good premise. like I said in the very, very beginning, we don't have any vampire games. And this is like the sickest ability genre that you can have. You disappear. You can eat people.
Starting point is 00:52:52 You can have super strength. You're super fast. All these crazy things. All these crazy abilities. Make something good. And people are going to buy it. So $70 no. I would think a good price point,
Starting point is 00:53:05 50 bucks, and people wouldn't be upset. 50. 50 is a really. good number and I think we're going to hear that a lot lately because everybody's going to want to charge 70 bucks for a game but it's not going to be worth it. So 50 for the game, 8.5 for the score and I liked it. I thought it was good. I think it's a new IP worth watching. Yeah, check it out. Look for a sale if you're not totally sure, but definitely check it out. So it's funny because I'm listening to you guys and you guys are echoing a lot of what I think on this game. Now, again, I, this was not
Starting point is 00:53:40 the right time for me to play this game. I just, I found it very, very difficult and this is not a game issue. This is a me issue, but I found it very difficult to get into the, like the world, right? Like, I want to be able to dedicate like a three to four hour play session and just get immersed into this world and really remember what I'm doing and get deep into the side quest and the characters and all that stuff. And I just didn't really have that opportunity. However, I know a good game when I see one. And Blood of Dawn Walker is absolutely a good game. Like that, let's just clear that up right now.
Starting point is 00:54:13 This game is a very, very good video game. I think the combat system is really good. I like the skill-based aspect of that. I think that Cohen is not the most interesting character in the world. You know, the supporting characters, the vampires were cool. But, you know, this ain't a Witcher people. But then again, not many games are. So it's kind of like, do you compare it to the Witcher because that's not really fair?
Starting point is 00:54:39 I'm going to call this Timu Witcher because if the Witcher 3 is a 10 out of 10, which for me, Witcher 3 is a 10 out of 10. It's a masterpiece of a game. My rating for Blood of Don Walker, Ryan, I'm actually, I can't believe you stole my rating, but it's an 8.5 for me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:54 Timu Witcher is an 8.5. This game is very enjoyable. It does a lot right. It is janky. And there's some things where you can tell like, hey, like I think you said it best, Ryan, it needed a little bit more time in the oven to just kind of polish a few things, get rid of a few of the bugs and the crashing and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:55:12 Ultimately, I think the gameplay shines. I think as a vampire game, this is one of the better vampire games that exists, like honestly. So I think people that are hungry for that genre, you know, will really, really appreciate this. There is a lot to like about it. I think the world is immersive. I like the abilities.
Starting point is 00:55:34 I think progression's good. Yeah, some of the gear system and the skills, and some of that were a little bit lackluster. So there's like these little things that are kind of holding it back a little bit. But for me, Witcher 3, 10 out of 10, Timo Witcher 8.5. And that's what I'm going to kind of call this game. It's not meant to be derogatory. It's just meant to say, hey, they're obviously trying to follow what the Witcher 3 did.
Starting point is 00:55:57 And they hit on a good bit of that, but not all of the components that make it an absolute masterpiece at that point. So 8.5 for me, is it worth $70? I think it depends. if you are a gamer and you go, you know what, I'm super in the mood for a deep RPG that has this new world and is a new IP. And I will roll credits on this game. I could see you being absolutely happy to pay $70 and go,
Starting point is 00:56:23 I got the time to beat on this game is between 30 to 35 hours, right? That's just, you know, the main campaign. Ace, do you know how much time you have in this? 35 hours. You have 35 hours. So, okay, so that's spot on then as far as the time to beat. So. Right.
Starting point is 00:56:37 Yeah. So, you know, I think if you're willing to go, hey, I am going to put in the time on this. I think it is worth $70 at that point. You know, I think you're going to, you know, 35 hours for 70 bucks seems, especially for the quality of game that it is, seems fair to me. Now, I can make the argument that this is a brand new studio and even though they have pedigree, you're still a new studio. And where do you come across charging $70 for your game?
Starting point is 00:57:01 You know, when like Expedition 33 was a new studio and they didn't charge $70 for their game. That was 50 bucks. Yeah, exactly. So I do think they overpriced it a little bit. I think this is like a, hey, our pedigree stands for itself. And it is a very good video game. I think $60 for me would have been the perfect price point. It is, it plays like a AAA title, although technically it's an indie studio.
Starting point is 00:57:26 And I think that $10, which sounds silly to a lot of people, but on the principle of like, hey, this is our first IP. It's our first game release. There's a little bit of jank. And yes, we're going to have to do some day one package. and optimization and stuff, that $10 matters just a little bit. You know, so I think, I think $60 would have been the perfect price point. Is it worth $70? If you're in the mood for a game like this and you plan on putting in the 35 hours,
Starting point is 00:57:51 I do think it's worth the $70. If you are like me and you're just super duper busy with life and you don't have the time for a deep, you know, in-depth RPG, you're probably not going to get your $70 worth out of it at that point. So that's a decision I think you as a gamer need to make with a little bit of help from us to say, hey. Yeah. You know, you don't buy Skyrim and put five hours in.
Starting point is 00:58:12 Like you're, you're in for the long haul if you want to play the game, you know, so I, yeah, I totally understand. So, all right. Well, listen, there you go. So eight and a half from me and Ryan and eight from Ace. I mean, that's, that's good scores, guys. It's good. It's a good game, man.
Starting point is 00:58:29 There's a lot there. And it just needs, you know, a little bit of nuts and bolts and tightening it up, I think. Yeah. I think if I had to point out the biggest holdback for this game is probably just like the characters aren't super relatable. I think they missed just a little bit
Starting point is 00:58:46 on like making the character like a iconic character. They come close in some of the interactions but they just don't build enough on it. And also all your romantic relationships in this game mean nothing by the way because I romanced all three characters in the same play through. It didn't matter.
Starting point is 00:59:02 Ace, you player you. Dang. Something else. but then I remember there's a family show. Easy now. Oh, man. Okay, well, listen, there you go. That's Blood of Dawn Walker.
Starting point is 00:59:14 I will say, I think I was pleasantly surprised by this. Going into it did not know what to expect at all. And then left going like, guys, this is a pretty darn good video game here, man. Like, I think they did a pretty good job. This IP left an impact enough that I will be watching for their next game. And I will be hyped to see what they do next. Yeah. I'll also be interested to see what they do with this one and see how they fix it.
Starting point is 00:59:38 Yeah, that'd be nice. Game of the Year edition, maybe. Dude, kind of like Witcher. I could see Blood of Dawn Walker, too, being like really good, dude. Yeah. Really good at that point. Especially if you could set that modern error like it's looking. Tweak it.
Starting point is 00:59:53 You know what I mean? And then you can go from there. So, all right, well, listen, that's going to do it for this episode. Hey, what's coming up next? well we have kind of pivoted just a little bit we love covering games for you guys and we were all going to dive into Wolverine and then we kind of went man there's Onamusha
Starting point is 01:00:15 that came out that a lot of people are talking about and has a lot of people curious and then we decided you know what let's split it so Ryan is going Ryan is playing Wolverine right now to see if the internet knows what the heck they're talking about you know there's a war going on between Hey, Wolverine's the dumbest game ever made versus like this game's awesome and it's gory and action-packed. It's sweet. I don't have to hold my controller. It's set to the side. Yeah. Yeah. So Ryan is going, he, he's going to be deep diving Wolverine and then Ace and I are playing Onamusha. I have been playing that a lot. Since it fits my lifestyle a little bit more right now. It's much easier game to pick up and put in 30, 40 minutes, although life is finally calming down for me a little bit as well. So that's kind of nice. So those are the next.
Starting point is 01:01:02 two games that we will be deep diving. Those will be coming out in the next few weeks. And then, guys, we're in October. I mean, we're in the promised land. The promised land of gaming, man. So if people want to know, and, you know, we're not trying to be a lizard and talking about a game that comes out in 2030. But we will be covering Galactic Racer.
Starting point is 01:01:26 And then, like, idiots, we forgot that Belmont's curse is coming out two weeks after Galactic race or nine. days after Galactic Racist. We will be covering Belmont's curse. And then at the end of the month is Phantom Blade Zero. And so we will be covering Phantom Blade Zero as well. So you got a lot of deep dives to look forward
