At Real Canadian Superstore, when you're ready, we're ready with a whole world and more.
Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers podcast.
Few showcases give us more games than Gamescom does.
With multiple days of reveals, announcements, and more, it can be overworked.
to know what's going on.
Well, don't worry, because we've got you covered.
On this episode, we'll be covering the hottest games, trailers, and announcements from Gamescom.
But before we get to the insane happenings in the video game world, some introductions are in order.
I am your host, Josh, and joining me, he shirked his podcast duties of looking up games and trailers to go play golf this morning.
So it's only natural we call him out on it.
It's right.
I told you that I watched everything.
I watched everything.
It was also a bachelor party for my little brother who's getting married.
Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me.
Excuses and reasons are often very close.
You know, it's right there.
So, you know, take with that, you know, what you will.
As long as you're ready to talk about the 15 games that we sent to you, Ryan,
and a private message and you're ready for those,
then all as well.
Wait,
is it different than everything?
Yeah,
yeah.
Your list is different than my list and ACE's list.
I love it.
Bring it on.
Ryan did he had like a moat.
I don't know if I got him there or not,
but I was like maybe just two seconds of panic there.
Oh, man.
And joining us.
He loves a good trailer as long as it's for a hand-drawn game
with a weird premise,
a banging soundtrack and a studio name no one's ever heard of it's ace could you ask for
anything more in this world i that's fair that's fair a banging soundtrack a bang and sound track
a hand track a beautiful art style and a studio you never heard of studio right ace is like sounds like a recipe
for amazingness to be exactly you have no expectation so they can't disappoint you son of a b i'm in
Oh, man. Well, guys, Gamescom has been had. I mean, how many days does that go on for like four, five days?
I think it was, yeah, something like that. It's still going. Uh, as it was recording. I looked at the full thing and it was like six hours of like footage or something like that. It was, it's a lot. Yeah. So we have done our job to pick out the games that we think are the coolest looking, the, the games you need to know about. There is no world where we can cover everything that has been talked about.
a games comp, but let's be honest, you don't want us to talk about everything because some of this
stuff, not so great. Some of this stuff pretty freaking impressive. So we have picked out the games that
we think that you need to know about or that have the most hype behind them or that we just think
look the coolest at the same time. And we're going to dive in because we got a lot to cover,
boys. So we are going to just jump into these so that we can get as many of these in front of you
as possible.
And guys,
I want to start with
Tere the Unbound.
Did you guys,
I'm assuming you guys saw this,
but I am a sucker for,
we're just going to call it like Diablo clones.
I would say Diablo Path of Exile 2 clones.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But this one is set in the,
the best way I read it is like basically like
the Buddhist universe.
So like it's set in the,
I think Eastern.
It's within Eastern mythology.
Yeah.
Right. Eastern mythology, but focusing on a little bit more of like the Buddhist kind of gods and thinking and the cycle and all that stuff.
This game visually looks incredible to me, dude. I mean, yes, it's a Diablo clone. Yes, we've seen this before. But at the same time, I don't know that we've actually seen it with this kind of like Eastern mythology flare to it. And that kind of gets me height.
I see, that's something new.
That's a new twist to take it as well as just like every,
every other attempt to copy Diablo, aside from Path of Exile, has failed tremendously.
So hopefully we see them do something that makes them stand out,
aside from just the eastern spin.
I agree.
I think it's, obviously, the world is visually pleasing.
It's beautiful.
I love the look of the combat.
I don't know what it is for this one.
I know Josh has been just so distraught that I have not played Path of Exile 2.
He wants me to play that game so bad.
And I just have no desire for whatever reason.
But for some reason, this game really, it tickles my fancy, man.
I want to check it out.
Like, it looks cool.
Like, and he's got, Josh is going to lose his mind.
I hate you so.
much right now, Ryan.
The depths
of hatred that are welling up
inside me right now.
You jerk, man.
Oh, that's funny.
You're telling me this doesn't look good. This looks good.
Oh, it looks great. It looks great.
And I'm like, you're picking this over Path of Exile.
Like, come on.
Oh, man.
I mean, it does look really good, dude.
I'm not going to lie. The,
the flare to this, the, I love
mythology. Like, any kind of
mythology I really love.
I will say the thing that I liked about this, too, is they made a very good point to show off
all the skill trees and the different skill paths and the different unlocks and the different
this and that kind of thing.
They showed off like a bunch of different like challenge shrines that you can do.
This looks like a really, really well done action RPG a la Diablo.
I mean, at one point they even showed loot dropping on the ground and stuff like that.
Yeah, very, very Diablo coded.
every one of these games is just a blast dude you can't go wrong and it's like especially when they look as good as to ray the unbound looks so i this one is definitely on my radar it actually does make me happy to just even if it's this one and not path of exile to get ryan to play something besides diablo and be like look how far these have come look how far these have come in the last two decades oh wow this is a lot of quantity life this is this is pretty nice and then ryan's the whole time i can't believe i've been
playing Diablo 2 this whole time.
Don't you.
Don't you dare smirch
be on Diablo 2.
What are you doing?
All right.
We won't stand long on this one because
guys, I mean, it's E-Day.
We've been talking about it for a year.
Yeah, we've been talking about it.
You're either super excited for Gears of War E-Day or you're not.
So we did get a new trailer.
I'm in.
I'm in as much as I've been in on E-Day.
If you're a Gears of War fan, you're probably in on this no matter what.
If you're not a Gears of War fan,
you're probably going,
hey, what's the hype about?
What I have heard is that people are quite impressed with Eday.
We do have one friend, I won't name them, that got into like a closed beta and said, like, yeah, it was just okay.
But I don't think that's really his style of game either.
So, yeah, we got a new trailer.
Ede looks great to me.
Dom and Marcus, what more could you want?
I think there's a lot riding on this for Xbox at the same time.
Oh, yeah.
So I'm hoping that this game is,
everything we want it to be.
But we did get a new trailer for that.
And as a reminder,
actually,
I did look up dates,
release dates for these.
So E-Day is set to release.
Unfortunately,
pick the worst day imaginable because I will never,
never play E-Day over the game
that it's releasing up against,
which is Galactic Racer.
So sorry,
Gears of War,
E-Day.
There's just a better game coming out
called Star Wars Galactic Racer there.
Man,
you're going to rubble a lot of people
the wrong ways. Whatever.
I don't care. If you're not hype for Galactic
Racer, what have you been doing with your
life, man? Like, honestly, what have you
been? And number two, if you're not hyped for Galactic Racer,
why don't you come challenge us? Because we're going to be doing
12 player, multiplayer matches, community
nights, tournament brackets. We've got a
circuit plan. Like, we've got all kinds of plans.
So if you want people, if you want to come try to show your stuff
and you think you're good. And then you want to get put into the wall and put
into your place, you come play Galactic Racer. If they hate it, they
just don't have a pod. Like, that's all it is to it. They're just jealous. Exactly. So,
um, so, so Givesvore E day releasing October 6. Trey the Unbound is set, uh, a 2027 target date is what
they said for, for that one. Guys, do you ever have a game that like, you know, you just,
you're kind of embarrassed to be like really excited for? Like, you know what I mean? Where you go,
like, bro, I know I shouldn't be excited for this. I know I'm like, you know, I'm a guy in his,
in his, you know, 40s and
I've got a wife and kids.
And I know that this game shouldn't probably be
one that I'm like, oh, I'm kind of geeking out over.
But then you watch the trailer again
because you haven't seen it in a little while
and you're like, I can't help it.
Like, Ananta,
this is, this is anime GTA.
Like, I don't know any other way to put it.
It's just, it's a straight rip off of GTA.
I mean, if they don't get sued, I'll be amazed.
Ace, you said it in the pre-show.
You're like, bro, might as well enjoy this game until they get sued by Rockstar for ripping off Grand Theft Auto.
But Ananta, this game looks really good to me, man.
As someone...
You should be embarrassed.
I am, but I can't help it because it looks really good.
Yeah, yeah, it does.
It does look really good.
It just looks fun.
It looks like a fun time.
It does look fun.
Swing around like Spider-Man, beating people up.
So, are they going to?
to do like the anime like like voices and stuff like the like the subconscious going like
i don't know should i steal this car i don't should no should i talk to her should i pick up this hooker
no no i don't think that happens right no i'm going to say that i'm going to say those
you said anime gta what do you mean those aspects of gta probably didn't make it into this
game.
Wow, I got a new gun.
What do I do? Did you make it to the end of the trailer where the guy is live streaming and
he's like, hey chat, what's up? And then everyone runs away from him. He's like, oh, man,
I must have really annoyed all of them. And he turns around. That was a jab at, that was
a jab at GTA for sure. I, you know, this is, Ace, we were kind of picking on me because you
even said, hey, I think this game actually looks like a lot of fun. And it does.
really really good. And then we were like, but A's, you don't like GTA 5. So what, what is it about
Ananta that you like, that appeals to you, whereas GTA5 did not necessarily? Oh, well, for one
thing, I like the graphical style a lot more. I like this. Dude, the graphics are incredible.
They look really good. And it's really fun and like brightly colored and interesting. As well as just
like the combat is very varied. You clearly do have ranged weapons and things like that,
but you also have a vast variety of melee combat as well, which is fun.
And you have Spider-Man-like powers.
I'm sold.
Like, being a superhero in a world that's similar to GDAs, it sounds fun.
It just sounds like a fun time.
I can't watch this trailer and not go like, I think I really like this.
My brain goes, you should not say that.
My brain goes like, you shouldn't say that.
You should be like a video game snob kind of guy and say that this is just a rip-off.
But I can't help it, too.
Ananta looks good to me.
Like, I don't know.
Like, that's all I can say, dude, like legitimately.
So.
So Ananta will be free to play.
It is targeting January 15th, 20, 27th.
Targeting.
It's set for January 15th, 2027.
Yeah, they're coming.
So free to play game.
Yes, this is going to have all kinds of gotcha elements to it.
I'm sure, you know, they got to make their money somehow.
But if you haven't seen this trailer, watch this trailer.
Now I'm going to, I'm going to say this.
Ryan is going to put the links for all these games in the episode description.
Right, Ryan.
Right, Ryan.
That's CBD.
That's, uh, links are, links are to be determined.
There's a 50, 50 chance that Ryan remembers to put these.
No, here's a deal.
We're always talking about so many games and there's so many times we like put links and then we don't put links.
So, and then we'll do, I'll publish episodes like three or four days after we record them and then I don't remember this stuff.
I don't remember, I don't remember what I had for breakfast.
So, but I will, I will put the links for this because it's, it's gamescom.
Yeah.
So check out this trailer.
You can see why it's a guilty pleasure, but Ananta I think you can see why Ace and Josh are weirdos.
Right.
That's fun.
You get to not, you get to be the guy that's not having fun, Ryan.
You love GTA, Ryan.
This is GTA.
I love GTA.
Why would you not love this?
Because I don't love weird Eastern anime animation like with my GTA.
Yeah, the voice are not cool and you don't love funny.
It's a pretty funny trailer.
We'll see.
I may, I may start playing it and then I'll just be like, okay, this is pretty sweet.
So it's free to play.
That's the thing.
It's free to play.
Like, there's no reason not to try it.
All right.
Turrach origins, boys.
Yeah.
When's the last time we got a Turrack game?
I freaking loved Turak back in the day.
Like, dude, playing Turak and the challenges and the dino and Turak was hard.
And I just like that was amazing.
And then I feel like at some point somebody did a Turak thing at one point and it flopped really bad or something.
I feel like they've tried once.
But this Turak has been in development for a long time.
We've been hearing little rumors and whispers and glimpses of it.
And then we got this full two minutes.
a trailer at gamescom for this game and I am in. I think this game looks spectacular.
What do you guys think about this trailer we got to see? I grew up in that time of Turak.
I was a kind of a kid. It came out in 97. I was like nine or 10 years old. I remember our,
my, our copy of Turak had like the worn down front because we pulled it out and put it back in so many
times because we were always swapping games and we always grabbed turuk and we would play it it was
just one of those cool awesome you're fighting dinosaurs dude you're fighting dinosaurs like what how you know
you got a bow it's not these big big huge guns like sometimes it was you get some big guns in this
too he's in big guns but like in this one for sure but like in the old one i just remember the biggest
thing was like you're walking around with this cool bow and stuff what you have again in this
uh this new one but man i i am very excited i
love the reinvention of a lot of these old ideas and things that are really good settings and
scenarios, but in a modern touch, in a modern aspect, and I love it. I think it's going to be great.
I'm very, very excited for this. It's got me hyped. It looks like Doom meets dinosaurs, dude.
The way that the visual style and the pacing. It's definitely doom coded. As someone who knows nothing
of this franchise, like nothing. This was not around.
for me in any capacity.
To me, immediately, I got vibes of
Doom. I got vibes of like Horizon,
Zero Dawn. Yeah, Horizon.
Yeah, and that might just because of the
sci-fi, like prehistoric
effect that has going on there.
But it looks great. I mean, it's going to be a
freaking up to three-player co-op campaign.
Hey, hey,
how many people do we have on the podcast?
I don't know.
I don't know, maybe three, maybe that sounds pretty dang nice.
12-hour story campaign.
I'm pumped for this game, dude.
I did grow up playing Turok, and those games were awesome back then.
I love the way that they're going with this one.
It looks chaotic.
The visuals look really well done.
It looks really well-developed.
The combat looks great.
The guns look great.
It has the weird, over-the-top sci-fi-e guns kind of mixed in there.
They show some of the boss fights, which look really impressive.
Like, I'm really excited for this game.
Well, I know the gunplay is going to be good, too, because it's being done by Sabre.
Sabre Interactive is doing this game, so.
Are they really?
I did not know that.
So, yeah, well, there you go.
So there's confidence even more that this game's going to be great.
So they are targeting Spring 27 for Turak origin.
So that is, I'm excited for that one.
All right.
No law.
This is a game that I think is starting to gain some steam and get some hype behind it.
Because I keep seeing it mentioned anytime you look up anything about games.
is I keep seeing no law mentioned as one of the games that has piqued a lot of people's curiosity and interest.
This is a like cyberpunky looking top down futuristic.
Oh wait, no, I'm thinking.
No, you're thinking that's the other one.
I'm thinking dust.
Yeah, this is the cyberpunk clone that looks like it's really well done.
I know I was like dying light with like dying light to be.
Yeah, that's a good comparison for sure.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You can put a grenade on a freaking Roomba.
A room.
Dude.
And it just zooms up and goes up to the guys like the guards standing there against a truck in like a warehouse and just blows them all up.
And you can go through.
You can do stealth kills.
You can do crazy over the top kills.
You're shooting at lights.
It's got like everything.
And it looks.
It's graphically beautiful.
And it looks like it's so well done.
It looks crisp.
It looks clean.
The effects.
The gameplay.
All of it.
it looks really good man
I this one looks pretty sweet
I'm excited like uh like almost
a more visceral and modern
exe killer if you guys remember that game
I do yeah when's that game coming out by the way
we should have that one soon honestly I know
I will say I think that this game hits all the right
notes for me it's more it's not like a straight
combat game so it's not like just a running gun shooter
it's more of like that immersive sims so I'm going to throw out a game
that a lot of people have heard me
talk about Deuce X, right? Where it's like, I think this is much more Deuce X than anything else,
but just in that like cyberpunk world. They're showing all kinds of technology. Like you guys
said, the grenade on the Rumba. You can see the guy shooting out lights. You see them drop kicking
kicking some dude off of a balcony, uh, which looks incredible. There's this kind of raw,
like visceral part to some of the combat, but then other parts they're showing some stealth
gameplay and some like technology slash hacking stuff going on.
I think no law looks incredible.
And I see why it's kind of making waves for people from the like, hey, when we talk about
gamescom and some of the games that they got announced, this is the one that people are like,
hey, we've never seen this before.
We've never heard of this before.
And now all of a sudden we have a game that's kind of blowing people away with this trailer
that they put out.
So no law is one that you should absolutely.
make sure you're aware of. It's targeted for 2027.
It's not that far away, people.
Good sign. And this, yeah, and there, there is a lot that I like about this trailer.
Ryan, you kind of said it. It just kind of gets you excited and goes like, is this really
going to be this game? Because this looks really, really good.
It seems like no matter what, it's going to be a good time. It's going to be a good time,
you know, playing this. Yeah. All right. We're going to take a quick break. And then
we're going to come back. We're going to talk about warlock, Exodus,
Warhammer, dust origins, and a little tiny game that nobody ever heard of before called
Notice Fall. So we'll be right back after this break.
Don't you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life? You know the same way
you can skip an ad. I get it. I'm Siaia and I live in Ice Cove. I've made some
questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned. And today I'm still figuring it out.
Somehow things usually get worse before they get better.
Apparently, that's how I roll.
So bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride.
Stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC Gem.
All right.
Pop quiz, hot shot.
What's the difference between a warlock and a sorcerer?
Warlock is indentured to a patron.
I was just going to say they're evil.
That's actually kind of, that's a fair thing, Ace.
As a sorcerer's magic is studied and learned, but a warlock gets,
their power from their patron.
Wrong, Ace.
Wrong.
All right.
You were so close to being a true nerd.
Wizards study their magic.
Oh, that's right.
Sorcerers have natural magic, and then warlocks get their magic from, like you said,
like an evil entity or something like that.
Not always evil.
There are the occasional.
They're not always evil, I guess.
Name me a not evil warlock.
That's fair.
That's fair.
That's fair.
I think they're kind of warlocks.
I think when you have a not evil warlock that's called a.
paladin.
The power cross spells you.
Bam!
Now you got me
Googling are warlocks always.
Warlocks are not always evil.
Their morality depends entirely on their individual choices.
There you go.
They're evil.
My question still stands.
Yeah, name me on Warlock that's not evil.
Ace, I'm going to let you take this because you said something that I think is spot
on when we're talking about warlock.
So why don't you explain Warlock to people?
Because I love what you said about this at the same time.
Well, I think Warlock looks incredible for one thing.
It is the next D&D universe set game.
And to me, just off first look alone, this game is Baldersgate 3 for people who hate
turn-based combat.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Ryan?
Ryan?
That is what Warlock is.
Oh, my gosh.
It's getting beautiful in here.
The lights, you know, the horns are trumpeting.
The sounds are happening.
Oh, my gosh.
Is there going to be a game I can play?
Is there going to be a D&D?
game I can play finally?
Oh, I think.
I think so.
Although I do got to say, just off this first trailer, all the different kind of
magics and abilities she was using, I don't know how you're going to keep up with
that.
How are you going to, like, bind that to different buttons?
Like, what's going on there?
If you looked at the UI, there was the four.
It was hidden the whole time.
No, there was a UI.
In the eight-minute trailer that I watched, there was the eight-minute gameplay one.
I don't know if you saw that one or not, but they break down, like, the actual, some
of the stuff.
But in that one, there is the four, almost like a D-pad where you can select like the different
spells.
But then you can definitely swap those out as well.
I think this game looks great.
I'm a huge fan of D&D.
This is legitimately Wizards of the Coast.
So the owners of Dungeons and Dragons are behind this game.
So this will be very true to the D&D universe, which gets me excited at the same time.
You can kind of see some of the spells if you are a D&D nerd where it's like, hey, you know,
she's using some of these.
actual D&D spells.
At one point in this trailer, she comes across a beholder, which as anybody that
plays D&D knows, you don't mess with beholders.
They're very, very high-level creatures.
And her little familiar that she has is even like, oh, we're running from this one because
she's like wrecking everything else and all of a sudden she starts running.
And her little imp companion is like, wait, so we're not fighting this one.
And it's like, D&D nerds, no.
So I love the fact that this is actually set in the official Dungeons Dragons universe.
I like the fact that this is action-oriented versus the turn-based so that people like Ryan can enjoy this one.
I think this game looks really, really good.
A lot of this is going to come down to the story, the progression in this because are you starting off as like a little level one warlock and then you get to move up because that's the D&D path that makes that a lot of fun as well.
But they showcased a lot of this and I like ye what I see.
This looks like a very fun game.
just to immerse yourself into that warlock space of a D&D nerd.
Yeah.
I usually will pick the warlock class when I play in D&D.
So I'm very interesting this to see how much that aligns with what I would pick.
One of the coolest things that they showed in this demo too was like she's going out into this big field where there's this giant like orc giant thing like wrecking people.
And she pulls out like this like warlock like summoning table or something.
I don't even know what it is.
And then you see her put like an eyeball in one cup, like some blood in another cup and then some bits of bone or something in another cup.
And then she starts making it rain.
And like the fog and the rain rolls in.
And I'm like, dude, this is so cool to me that like you can affect the battlefield at this point by like doing these actual rituals.
You can do so much in this game.
Like it is highly ambitious.
I mean, just just in like one section too, which is kind of a leads to all the different abilities.
is she goes up and she uses like levitate on a box to get to a grate.
And then the grates up there and then she like just kind of like dust partitions down below it.
And then she goes down and then she uses a flame torch thing to light the torch.
And then she just goes and like, oh, I can't jump to there.
So let me put a little grasp tentacle thing on the wall.
And then I'll use levitate on this platform and then jump across.
Yeah.
It's just like nonstop all these different abilities to not only traverse the world.
but then within combat so I I'm this is this this is one of those that this is what I look for in
this world because I love the D&D world like I'm not I don't play D&D or anything I just hate
turn-based combat so much I've always kind of shied away from it this is something that will
will bring me in and I'm excited to learn more not only about like the game but also just about
the lore and in the world and nostalgia and like what people know and feel I'm I'm this one
is cool. I'm very excited about it. It put a
smile on my face the whole time. Yeah.
I didn't even notice it was an eight minute trailer
because I was just enjoying everything I was watching.
Yeah. And here's
the thing. I mean, apart from Baldur's Gate 3, which was the first
true D&D game that we got that was
mainstream and really, really well done. Like,
if we start getting really good Dungeons
and Dragon Space games, like I am
so in on this man because nobody's ever been able to really do this before.
And listen, I know Never Winter Nights and some of those,
but it's like those weren't ever really
that prevalent for people unless you were a D&D nerd.
But yeah, I think I like what I see and I like the direction that they're going with this.
And I think, you know, if this one, if this one does great, like how soon before we're starting
to get some other classes or how soon before we get a really true action, D&D cooperative game to
where it's like, I can play rogue and you can play warlock and Ryan can play, you know, Paladin or
whatever he wants to play.
And then it's like, yeah.
Now we're getting somewhere.
Hey, if Warlock's successful, I want to see Druid next.
That's what I want to say.
Yeah, like legitimately.
That's what I mean.
Like, there's so many ways we can go.
Yeah.
So Warlock is targeting 2027.
Guys, if these games all come out in 202027.
We're going to have a busy 2020.
We're feasting, maybe.
We're feasting.
We'll be, will be the greatest year that we have ever seen for gaming, dude.
I'm saying that right now, dude.
I mean, there are so many insane games that are set to release for 20207, man.
Yep.
All right, moving on, Exodus.
And here's another one in 2027.
Exodus is, we've talked about this before,
so we're not going to spend a whole lot of time on this one,
but we did get a much further, like, in-depth look at this game.
This is Mass Effect.
Like, if you wanted Mass Effect in a modern setting
with modern graphics and modern stuff, like Exodus is it, dude.
And an octopus.
Dude, octopus are so cool, man.
They're one of my favorite creatures.
They are wickedly smart, by the way.
way. Way too smart to be kept in captivity.
Oh, I've wanted to keep one, but it's, it's so hard.
You have to have a cold water tank.
You would never manage it. No, they, they don't last for very long anyways.
Like, it's really, really hard to keep an octopus, like in captivity.
Well, and you shouldn't because they're smart, like, intelligent creatures, so don't keep them in captivity either.
They'll memorize your face, get back to the ocean and send a mob after you.
Yeah, yeah.
Which might be deadly if it's like this game.
Yeah, it could be. I know.
Love everything I see about this.
It's a beautiful looking game.
It's so the sci-fi level is like an 11 for this, which I'm here for.
The combat looks good.
The story looks good.
The characters look good.
They're voiced well.
Like this seems to be the total package.
Exodus is looking really, really impressive to me.
The release date has been set for April 7th of 2027.
I will see.
And this is it, people.
This is your mass effect.
This is your, this is what you've wanted.
This is mass effect in 2020.
and it looks the part in my opinion.
Yep. Hyper-
Ecologist octopus bounty hunter in a mech suit.
Right?
Yeah.
That's all you need to know.
And she just wants to be a bounty hunter because at one point, like, the guy says
something and she's like, you give me the credits.
I bring you the people.
Yeah.
You know, or something like that.
She wants to do.
She doesn't know.
She's just like, that's it.
That's all we're doing.
Yeah.
This is a transaction.
Warhammer fans rejoice.
We have talked about this one before, but we got a much larger
in-depth look at Total War Warhammer 40K.
All the Warhammer nerds out there,
you've got to be just excited as anything for this.
This is probably the closest, like,
representation of Warhammer in a game
that is like the actual tabletop game.
It fits the Total War franchise so well.
They show the overworld part where you're moving around.
Then they zoom into the combat with, you know,
you're fighting the orcs and stuff.
They show kind of a small scale skirmish in one,
mission and then another mission later on in this they show this massive war going on in like four
different fronts i've never played a total war game i like warhammer 40k i'm not a nerd with it but
i i understand the hype for this and why all the warhammer people out there would be very
very excited for this one you might want to upgrade your graphics cards because that's a lot of guys
to render all it's yeah it's gonna make it scream uh that's for sure i i don't normally like like total
war games, but being Warhammer and
the way that this game is presented really
has me curious because this looks
like really good. It gives it an appeal
for sure that it wouldn't be there normally
for a lot of people.
Yeah. Having a franchise
that you really enjoy seeing in a
setting. They really showcase
the Space Marines
V versus Orks. I can't
remember. I think they're going to have like four
different races. If I remember we covered this
at one point in a Twig episode.
And I think it's the Aldari, the Ork,
the space marines and then whatever the hell diver just hoard of guys in Warhammer are it's the
humans but i can't remember the name of those so yeah um that has no release date that is tba still um so
we don't have a release date for that one kind of surprise dust origins this is the one that i got
confused i said it was a top down shooter this this is the one it is kind of cyberpunkky but this
i i'm kind of in on this man um i think this game looks really good to me i just like this top
top-down dark cyberpunk aesthetic with like the red laser beam for your aiming kind of thing.
I don't know.
There's just something about these games that like my brain finds appealing.
I have a hard time getting into these top-down shooters after playing ones like enter the gungeon and things like that because it's just really good.
So it's hard to enjoy them.
But this kind of takes the atmosphere of something like dead space and puts it into this top-down shooter and makes the dark part of it where you have to like see the enemies through the.
dark and shoot through there.
And I was like, maybe there's something here worth checking out.
I don't know.
It does have my attention.
It's very gritty.
It's very dark.
It's like, you know, it's like you're just dying.
They show them like executing people, you know.
It looks like the assent to me.
I don't know if you guys remember the game.
Oh, yeah.
It definitely has a bit of the ascent to it.
Which is, which is funny.
I was laughing.
Because guess who made the no law game that we just covered that we all are excited about?
the developers of the Ascent
The developers of the Ascent are the ones that are making no law
They're not making dust origins
Even though it looks like they made this one
I know it's really it's funny but
I think this game looks fun man
It's got my attention
I'm very curious about it
Again it kind of just resonates with some part of my brain on this one
But I really the Ascent was a lot of fun
And I like this kind of top down claustrophobic shooter kind of thing
That's a good word claustrophobic
It does it just give you that kind of
kind of pinched feeling like and you're just always in a panic which sometimes is good in a game
like you're just you're you're you're locked in the whole time as you play through um i'm probably
not as high as as you are but i still think it looks it looks neat and if this is your style you
should definitely at least check it out and look at the you look at the trailer see what you think
i thought it's kind of funny watching him like try to mag dump the zombie coming at him or
whatever it was and he's like he can't get it dead in time and he gets grabbed by it
That's terrifying.
That's absolutely terrible.
They did showcase some cool boss fights as well in this.
So I thought that looked kind of neat as well.
So that one's targeting early 2027 with no official date yet.
All right, boys.
Last one for this episode.
I had no idea this game existed until we started digging into gamescom trailers.
I will be honest because I know a lot of listeners out there are probably going to react the same way.
It's a game called notice fall.
So N-O-D-U-S of notice fall.
and I saw that it was made by Hoyover's.
And I instantly went like,
and your heart sinks.
Yeah.
And I was like, okay, well, let me check this out because, you know, we do our part around here.
And then I started watching this trailer.
And then I was like, oh, wait a minute.
Like, wait a minute.
Dark fantasy?
Like, dark fantasy world?
Like, what?
Like, now you've got my attention.
guys.
It looks pretty good.
Welcome to multiplayer
Eldon Ring gentlemen.
I mean,
and not just multiplayer
Eldon Ring, massively
multiplayer Elden Ring.
Yeah, dude.
There were so many people on that battlefield
fighting a boss that was basically
a re-skin of the Nameless King
from Dark Souls 3.
But darn it, I'm in.
Okay.
So for people that don't know and they're like, what the heck is a Hoyoverse?
Hoyover is the company that made Genshin Impact.
Everybody in the world has heard of Genshinxen Impact.
They made Honkai Star Rail and they made Zenless Zone Zero.
So three games that...
Look, these games are massive people.
I mean, everybody knows about Genshin Impact, but like, if you knew the player counts for Genshin
Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, you would be astonished.
So these games are global.
And I mean, to this day, my daughter still plays Genshin Impact, you know, almost daily.
But you give me this dark fantasy world where you're talking dragons and co-op fights and this co-op adventure and in a dark fantasy realm.
And at that point, I don't care.
I don't care if it's from the makers of Genshin.
That might be a good thing, honestly, because they know what the heck they're doing.
It's worth mentioning, too.
It doesn't look anything like Genshin.
It has a Western art style.
Like it is as close to Eldon Ring looking as it can get.
I think that's a good, like, clarification aces.
It does, it does really resemble like Eldon Ring and how it's presented.
It does not look like Genschen Impact, Zenless Zone Zero or Hongkai Star.
It doesn't look like any of those.
It does not have that anime.
And with the combat, like, are you saying multiplayer and stuff like that?
There's a part where you're fighting this giant dragon.
And you like jump, both of your characters jump in.
in the air and then they like transport a sword in and then they do like this gravity like
tether and they both they like double team attack to like join up to just drive the sword down
into the into the dragon I am I'm pretty excited about this guy I think I think this will be
fun is this how Hoyover's finally gets us is this the one probably I mean dude all you had to do
is give me a setting that I really like and I mean dark fantasy does it for me you know
I want it. It does it for me big time.
Yeah.
I hate it. I hate admitting Hoyovers made something good.
One thing to clarify, too, this is not a massively multiplayer game.
Like, Genshin Impact is considered like a massive multiplayer game.
Notice Fall is four-player co-op.
Oh, really?
Okay.
So those other characters must have been NPCs that could help you fight.
Yeah, maybe, you know, or yeah, but at this point, like, I mean, it might have like the hub areas that might be massively multiplayer,
but it is not considered like an MMO like Genshin and stuff would be.
Which actually excites me even more because it's like this is like a curated experience.
And four player co-op is right up our alley boys.
That's three more than Eldering has.
Yeah.
Pretty good.
Yeah.
So, you know, it has the roles.
I'm reading this because I had to Google the massive multiplayer part.
But it does have your distinct party roles like Tank, Healer, D.D.
PPS, which I am a fan of.
I know there's people out there that go, can we ever get away from this?
But I love that.
I love knowing your role.
Like if you're tank and you get to be tank and you're like, this is what I'm good at,
let me be good at this.
You know, so I like that part of it as well.
The four player co-op thing I think is perfect because, man, those games sometimes can just
hit like, I mean, they can hit so well at the right time.
Is there any word on price for this one?
Is it free?
I, let me check real quick.
I'm generally curious.
if they're going to make this one free
and make it gotcha slop again,
or if it's going to be a paid experience,
that's actually like a full finished experience.
Confirm that it will be free to play long time.
Ah, gotcha slop it is.
Maybe.
But ah, ah, the very first point they make is it's no character gotcha.
Oh, like the whole universe titles.
Yeah, we'll see about that.
How are they going to be locked behind random draws or banner pulls?
We'll see about that.
Gooner skins.
I don't know.
Cosmetics and gooner skins.
Yeah.
Just like everybody else in the world.
Just like everyone else.
I think he's like,
really?
Okay.
Sign me up.
Sign me up.
I hate gotcha.
I hate got his notice fall budget started.
More skins, you say.
More skins, huh?
Let me just open a new savings account.
Yeah.
Well, there you go, people.
I mean, there is a lot to be excited about.
I mean, all of this stuff,
with the exception of the Gears of War,
E-Day trailers, all targeting 2027.
as far as we know.
I mean, you know, there's so much, dude.
There's so much, but these were the games that we got, hey, these, you need to know about
these ones, if nothing else.
So again, Terre the Unbound, that's your Diablo clone, looks really good.
Ede, everybody knows about that one.
Ananta is your GTA clone, but looks really good, in my opinion.
Turoc Origins, that game's going to be a ton of fun.
No law.
No law is the surprise hit, in my opinion, for,
games that got announced and revealed at Gamescom.
New IP. Warlock is the other one. I think Warlock looks spectacular.
Exodus is shaping up to be the game that everybody wanted it to be for Mass Effect for
2027. Warhammer nerds rejoice because Total War Warhammer 40K is looking fantastic.
Dust Origins, if you're in the mood for a gritty cyberpunky top-down shooter.
And then notice fall, Hoyover's figuring like, is there a way? Is there a way we can get
everybody on board.
And yes, there is a way
and notice fall might just be it.
Ryan will put all of these links
in the episode description for you.
And just in case you're like,
what was that game?
What was that game they were talking about?
So there you go.
