Starting point is 00:00:10 Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers podcast. August is here and summer is starting to wind down. Well, for everyone that doesn't live in the devil's butthole like we do, with it comes a new month of game releases. What comes out and how does it stack up to previous months? Well, we're about to find out, but first, some introductions are in order. I am your host, Josh, and joining me, he's excited for every one of these games. except for eight of them.
Starting point is 00:00:42 But one really stands out. It's Ryan. It only needs one. Tell me there's one. I don't know, Ryan. Is there one on this list? That remains to be seen. Tune in to find out.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Tune in to find out. No spoilers. And joining us, honestly, this list doesn't matter because he's waist deep in GTA5 at this point and promised every. he'd 100% it before he touches another game it's A. I made no such promises. That
Starting point is 00:01:20 100% is ridiculous, by the way. I don't know if you've looked into that. Over my dead body. Over my dead body. I didn't 100% Red Dead 2 and I love that game. I'm not doing that. You might be loving GTA 5 right now. Who knows? I don't know. I want, listen, this is,
Starting point is 00:01:38 I want you to, here's what I want you to do, A's. I want you to send a message to future Ace about GTA 5. What is it? Uninstall it, quick. Oh, all right, we'll go back to that. It's eating all your space.
Starting point is 00:01:54 It is a big game. It is. Yeah, there's a massive game. Yeah. It's a pretty big game. Oh, man. Well, listen, everybody, we are going to be covering the August releases. There's actually some, I thought initially, Ace, I even said this to you the other day.
Starting point is 00:02:10 I was like, I don't think there's anything coming out. in August that I'm excited for. Yeah, we were just sitting in VC playing Overwatch. He's like, is there anything in August? And I was, I just like, you didn't know either. No, I don't think so. I know. And then there's actually a few
Starting point is 00:02:26 pretty decent games this month. There is one that I'm actually pretty dang excited for. But we're going to get to all that in just a second for August, the games that you need to know about that are coming out in August. But Ryan, we would be remiss if we didn't read a review. because it's been a few episodes, and I believe you've got a
Starting point is 00:02:45 mythological review for us. It is a mythological review, but you're going to have to help me with the name again. Because I am notorious for mispronouncing this. No, go on, guys. No, you're on your own, man. Dang it. We told you what it was.
Starting point is 00:03:04 The review is titled, My Backlog, has filed a complaint. It is a five-star review from the guy Hephaestus No It's close You were close
Starting point is 00:03:18 Hepha festus Hephaestus It's a foe It's a foe It's a foe Yeah The guy Hephaestus
Starting point is 00:03:25 And the review reads Came for gaming Opinions Stayed for the laughs And someone added 47 more games to my backlog VGP feels like Hanging out with friends
Starting point is 00:03:38 Who are way too confident about games and are occasionally right. This might be the most on point review we have ever got. That's perfect. That's us. Yes. We are very confident about being wrong a lot. It's what we're best at, honestly.
Starting point is 00:03:57 Yeah. I mean, come on. We don't should be the plaque above my desk confidently wrong. There you. Yeah. Yeah. Well, thank you. That guy, Hephaestus, for a very accurate review.
Starting point is 00:04:09 honest of this podcast. Dang it. They got us. They're on to us. They know. They know figuring us out. Man, they know. Well, yeah. All right. Well, you know, just don't tell everybody. Oh, no, he did. He told the world. I told the world. We just told the world. Dang. Yeah. Got us. All right, guys, we're going to dive right in. We got a lot of games to cover, believe it or not. You know, just like any month, yes, there's a thousand titles that are going to release that nobody's ever heard of. We always try to pick out the games that we think are most interesting for the month are the, the, biggest releases for the month. Maybe an indie game that should be on people's radar or something like that.
Starting point is 00:04:45 Usually if there's a lot of indie games, Ace will do the indie episode and say, hey, you know, be aware of all these. But I was actually kind of surprised at when we started putting this list together, how many games were on here that I was like, oh yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, that one's coming out this month. Like, okay, I guess maybe we should mention that one. But we're going to start off because this one is one of the biggest.
Starting point is 00:05:09 releases of the month. August 4th, so just around the corner, from this episode, Beast of Reincarnation. Oh, boy. We have talked about this game in the past when it was revealed and announced. And here we are. I feel like it wasn't that long ago, man. Doesn't feel like that long ago.
Starting point is 00:05:31 Yeah, it doesn't feel like it was that long. It must have been one of the showcases or something. Yeah. So Beast of Reincarnation, the big thing about this one is this is the game from Game Freak. Anybody know a little tiny franchise that Game Freaks responsible for? Power World. Yeah, still it has to be Pal World, right?
Starting point is 00:05:49 No, no, no, no, no. Think worse than Pal World. Oh, worse than Pal World. Oh, you mean the biggest kind of IP on the world, but they can't make a video game. Pokemon? Yeah. Yeah, that one. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Yeah. The developer that Nintendo keeps like just keeping in their dungeon where they're like, That will never shut down. All these developers get shut down over and over and over, even after making good games. And then they're just like, yeah, Game Freak, keep going. Yeah, you do what you do. But don't make it too good. You cannot make a good Pokemon game, Game Freak.
Starting point is 00:06:24 We can't have happy Pokemon fans. Yeah. Yeah. And then they were like, can we please just make a game that we want to make? And finally Nintendo was like, fine. But you're doing it on your own time. While you're doing that, we're going to sue power. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Yeah. We're busy with this big lawsuit right now for somebody. that tried to rip us off and make a way better game than we ever could have made. So while we're doing that, you just do whatever you want. And the Game Freak was like, oh, thank goodness, man. We finally get to make a game. And they made Beast of Reincarnation. How would you describe this game to somebody, Ace?
Starting point is 00:06:57 It's, I mean, it doesn't look like a Soulslike. They've said it's not a Soulslike, so I'm going to say it's an action RPG. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, yeah. With a very Eastern-inspired setting and characters and things like that. But it also has a bit of that shadow of colossus feel with the kind of monsters and stuff. I'm not really sure what this game is because I don't know what Game Freak can do outside of Pokemon. I generally don't.
Starting point is 00:07:21 The world's about to find out. Yeah. So it's like it looks like it's a great action RPG, but time will tell if it actually is or if it's another mediocre Eastern RPG. It reminds me a little of like first, first descendant. but like action RPG like not gun gun play style but like sword play you know style uh with it
Starting point is 00:07:44 think I kind of get what you're going for it's a little bit more of that like fantasy meets technology kind of blend it's a fantasy meets technology almost like Horizon Zero Dawn or whatever yeah yeah yeah yeah like a mashup like that like a mashup like that I there's something in my brain that tells me like Josh you should be excited for this
Starting point is 00:08:04 and then I literally watch this entire like gameplay trailer. I'm not excited for this. We do our research and I was watching the, you know, IGN did a final preview where they talked about this game and stuff like that. And it's like, I just not that excited, man. I just feel nothing when I look at it.
Starting point is 00:08:21 And that's sad. That's kind of me. And I hate to say that because it's like, it's their first game that they got to make that wasn't Pokemon. And everything about this game looks like it's well done. The creatures are neat. The combat looks good. You've got this weird wolf.
Starting point is 00:08:35 tree companion thing. There's lore about like this weird tree fungus thing taken over, this curse or whatever. And the combat looks good. And then I watch all this stuff and I go, this kind of checks the boxes. And yet I'm like, I'm kind of dead inside to this game. I'm dead inside to it. It just looks like it wants to be like the Dark Souls monster hunter, but it doesn't want to commit to that. So it wants to be an action RPG. And it's just like, I don't, I don't get what you're going. Yeah, it's like, what are you? What are you as a game? Whatever it is, it doesn't matter, but like, tell us.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Like, you know, solidify yourself as what you are as a game and so we know what to expect and what our gameplay is going to be like. Like, does it, is it the fact that it basically just nothing in this other than the characters looks like unique in any way whatsoever? Like, I feel like I've seen this a thousand times before. I feel like I've seen the same Eastern-styled RPG where you slash apart monsters. and probably humans alike. I've seen about 100 times now.
Starting point is 00:09:41 I will say the one thing that I do think is slightly different in this is kind of like what we saw with Pragmata where during combat, you can pause the combat or slow it down to then do something. And I know in Pragmata it was doing the hacking nodes and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:09:57 With Beast of Reincarnation, it is almost like turning it into a turn-based combat where you are using your wolf companions to select like a skill that you want to fire off at that point. That's kind of like the Final Fantasy remakes. Yeah. And it's like, it's like,
Starting point is 00:10:13 it's not unique, but it's like something that they definitely focus on to say, once you build up enough energy points, you can then access this menu of skills and abilities and then use one of those and time slows down. Everything about this game says it's a very well done game. I'm sure there's going to be a ton of people that are interested in Beast of Reincarnation. I hope it does well just for game freaks so that they get the
Starting point is 00:10:35 opportunity to make something that's not Pokemon. I just can't personally get hyped for this. I don't know why that is necessarily other than I just feel like we've seen this before. And if you're looking forward to this game, keep looking forward to it. Yeah. Like, don't let us. Yeah, for sure. Like, we're not here to poop on anybody's parade, you know.
Starting point is 00:10:54 I guess it's right on parade. I don't think you probably should be pooping on anyone's parade. You poop on parties, Josh. Yeah. Keep your poop to yourself. What are you doing? I was saying. It's just a
Starting point is 00:11:06 All right, well moving on. Not the poop parade. Yeah, sorry. I've been eating that lettuce. You know, they said stay on it. Oh, the murder lettuce. Sorry. You know.
Starting point is 00:11:14 Too much Taco Bell. All right. Well, the same day the Beast of Reincarnation releases, a game called Big Walk releases. Now, we covered this game. I don't know if it was an indie episode or, yeah. Ace, you brought this one up. I do remember kind of trolling this game a little bit. because this is just a hangout game.
Starting point is 00:11:36 You're just walking around with friends. But I do think that there's kind of something enticing here for me. And I don't know what the heck's going on. And I don't know if I like it. Ryan, how would you describe Big Walk, dude? Big Walk is a horrible, disgusting, worst ever genre. a friend-slop game. I don't understand why anyone would want to play this. It is the sloppiest of the sloppies. It's the same thing we've seen a hundred times over
Starting point is 00:12:12 with these crappy, like unimaginative, like games that they put out. It's horrible. Ryan's still upset about his game court lawlessness. It's as if you can't tell everybody. And if you miss Thursday's episode, you should go back and listen to the Thursday's episode. Because people are like, what does Ryan have against Big Walk right now? A whole lot. A whole lot. A whole lot. because Josh actually wants to play it and it goes against everything. Everything he said in our argument in game court.
Starting point is 00:12:41 This is just another. This is another, this is another, you know, quote unquote, which I hate the term. I wish we could come up with someone, something better. We should call it. Hangout games. I would call it social hangout.
Starting point is 00:12:53 I like, yeah, social hangout, hangout games. Like, we got to come up with a better name. But like, yeah, quote unquote, friend slop. You go around and there's, I mean, it's just, you're just trying to do these different objectives. You're trying to move through this world. And, you know, you have like a person here and you have to like get them to grab something.
Starting point is 00:13:15 And then sometimes you get separated and you have walkie-talkies. And it's just, it's just literally just hanging out and just exploring and adventuring with your friends. And that's, that's pretty much the gist of it. I say, when they describe it, they say it is a game about walking and talking. Yeah. Like that is what you do. Yep. That's what you do.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Oh, you guys separate it. Oh, well, get back together. You should walk to talk easy. You guys can fire a flare. Yeah. You have a sign, right on the sign if you're too far away for your friends to hear you. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:45 I fell. I oddly, oddly, I'm curious about this game. The one thing that makes me curious is just the sense of discovery. Like, as you're walking and you're hanging out, there are like points of interest that you can go to. And sometimes those points of interest have puzzles that you have to work your way through. It's all voiceover IP based, you know, proximity chat kind of thing. And one of the things that they showed off was like you, there's soundproof glass. So now you can't talk to each other, but you have to gesture and figure out how to communicate to the people behind the glass.
Starting point is 00:14:17 And I like that kind of stuff. I like the you never know what you're going to get. Life's a box of chocolates. What's that thing over there? Let's go find out. You have to walk your way there. At one point, they showed a guy getting lost and he spends the night like just listening to the sounds of the woods and stuff. So there's this odd, like, peaceful Zen part of the game. They end the trailer with you all watching the sunrise. And there's a part of me that was like, this actually looks kind of nice. It might be boring as anything.
Starting point is 00:14:44 But I am oddly curious about Big Walk. And I think the people out there should be oddly curious about this game too. I'm genuinely curious, like how you would react to being playing this game or if it would be too directionless for you. Let's find out. If it would lack, you know, progression. I swear to God. Okay, Josh, if this is, okay, if this is $9.99, if this is $9.99 and you get five hours out of this game, do you feel like, in five enjoyable hours and we have fun and we enjoy, go explore and do a couple puzzles and we have fun, like, would you feel fulfilled?
Starting point is 00:15:20 Yeah. Why wouldn't I? Okay. Yeah. I rest your case, your honor. I rest my case, your honor with my friends. Is this your, your desire for a re-trial? I'd like to extend. I'd like to. I'd like to. extend a retrial? I can totally, I can totally reverse everything I said because we're not game court anymore, Ryan. I think this game looks really neat. I'll be honest, I'm down to try it. Like, legitimately, I kind of, we'll try it. I might hate this game. I might hate this game, but I am curious enough about it that it has my attention and that's a good place for this game to be. I forgot to mention this, so I'll go back and mention this. Beast of Reincarnation is coming out on PS5, Xbox series X and S and PC. Big Walk is coming out on PC Nintendo Switch 2, which this game's probably pretty
Starting point is 00:16:10 ideal for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and believe it or not, Mac OS. So you can actually play this on your MacBook. Yeah, which is a neat one. Yeah, so that's not something we see all the time there. All right, August 6th, this is a big one for a lot of people, Marvel Tokon. the new fighting game with all the Marvel characters harkens back to Marvel versus Capcom
Starting point is 00:16:35 which was one of my favorite fighting games back in the day I am oddly disinterested in this game and I don't know why I don't either because you love fighting games I love fighting games and I like Marvel and like you picked up Street Fighter 6 I got into Street Fighter 6
Starting point is 00:16:50 for a while I was playing with Nexivis a good bit you know played you know I think it was was it old Jake you know I played but Street Fighter 6 was basically the last fighting game that I got into moderately.
Starting point is 00:17:04 I retired him. We played and I beat him and then he never played one round. I played I actually picked up that's all it takes, baby. So Marvel Tocon Fighting Souls, it looks really good. I mean the Marvel characters, the combat looks sweet, the combo system looks good. I mean, this is everything that people that like fighting games
Starting point is 00:17:24 could want. I don't know if it's Marvel fatigue, although I will say the doomsday trailer looking pretty freaking sweet. I just don't think I have the time or desire. Maybe I'm just not in the mood right now for to learn a fighting game. But this is a pretty big release this month. And I know a lot of people are looking forward to this one. Yeah, I mean, people talk pretty highly about the playtest and the open betas and things
Starting point is 00:17:45 like that about it. So I'm interested to see how it, you know, performs. But fighting games just don't have long lifespans anymore. I do worry about the staying power. We just saw 2KXO. you know, they're stopping development on 2KXO. I'm pretty sure I'm remembering that, right, or saw something about where it's not doing well.
Starting point is 00:18:04 I thought they already did stop development on ages ago. Yeah, maybe they did. So it's just, it's a tough world to be in in the fighting game world, and we'll see if Marvel Tokon can survive that or not. But it really does look like a quality fighter. 2XO, by the way. It looks, it looks good. I just, I don't see.
Starting point is 00:18:18 Oh, I called it 2KXO, didn't I? Yeah, that's right. I don't see anything that looks any different than any of the other fighting games that I've seen. It's just to appeal to the Marvel versus Capcom people who haven't had a game in ages. Yeah, I mean, they'll sell some copies. They will. They'll do fine.
Starting point is 00:18:37 It's not going to buy it. Just like that avatar fighting game, they'll sell a few copies to the people who are interested in it, and that's it. Oh, I want that game. Just to be accurate, because, you know, we definitely love accuracy on this podcast. But to XCO, it's just, they had major cutbacks on the game. They cut down the size of the development team and all that. It's not doing well, but it's not dead either. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Moving on August 13th, our first indie title. And this game, I actually played the demo for this game. This is a good game. I played the demo for this. It impressed me. It is a 3D platformer slash like Zelda like game called Dusk Fade. There's decent combat in this. There's good platforming.
Starting point is 00:19:24 It's a 3D kind of world. It was enjoyable. I mean, I, like I said, I picked up the demo because it got me curious, played that, walked away going, there's a pretty good video game here. Yeah, we've talked about this one before as well. This is basically indie kingdom hearts. It takes every kind of inspiration from the kingdom hearts, you know, stories and genre and brings it forward into its own original story with the platforming and the fighting and all sorts of, you know, whimsy of the world. Like, the guy has a giant clock hand as a sword. Like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:53 They literally like pulled that straight from kingdom hearts. I think it looks great. I think it's going to be a great game, and I'm super excited for everyone to get their hands on it. Is there Donald Duck? That's my question. You know, he might be. Not that I saw.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Maybe. Yeah. It wasn't in the demo. For someone who doesn't like, you know, like these types and these, the look of these games, this one actually looks pretty cool. So I actually, uh, I'm not going to say the, the famous words that I may pick it up. I may check it out. I may check it out.
Starting point is 00:20:24 But, uh, this does look pretty cool. cool. I am not turned away by the trailer or potential gameplay or anything like that. It looks like a neat game. So if you're interested in this kind of world, definitely check it out. I love Kingdom Hearts, so this calls to me.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Yeah. I'm sure I'm going to have to, I'll send it to my little brother to see if he's heard about it because he's a Kingdom Hearts guy too. So he's probably, I mean, he's probably already trying to play it. Probably already, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It plays very much like a 3D platformer. I'd never play Kingdom Hearts, so I
Starting point is 00:20:56 don't get that reference necessarily, but I trust you, Ace, on that one. But there's a quality video game here. There's, there's a link in the episode description. Um, so watch the trailer. So, because it does a good job of like showing, you know, what this game is about. But this is one that actually looks pretty good and people should pay attention to. Um, the same day, August 13th, a completely different style of game, but one that I know Ryan is looking forward to, uh, is hell let loose Vietnam. Now, this game got delayed, if you remember, because, because Hell Let Loose was supposed to release and I think like May or June or something like that.
Starting point is 00:21:30 It was earlier, way earlier. It didn't get delayed a ton. So it wasn't that far ago. But Hell Let Loose Vietnam is releasing August 13th for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. I think this game looks good. This is a multiplayer shooter. It is a crowded genre,
Starting point is 00:21:51 but there's something about Hell Let Loose Vietnam that I think does look appealing. Brian, you're the one that's most excited for this one. What is it about this one that has your interest? Just the, this is absolutely more of a war sim type game. This is very, very, it's not Call of Duty. It's not your battlefield. This is old school like sim style combat.
Starting point is 00:22:18 It is going to be beautiful. It's going to be hard. And it is going to sell. to the people that like it in that genre and those people that that appreciate it, it is not going to be an all-timer. It's not going to be something that that does really, really great on the numbers. But I think this looks like a really good, good game.
Starting point is 00:22:38 The original Hell Let Loose or the last one was a blast. I had a lot of fun playing that game. You'll sit for a long time in a bush or you'll be cruising along, you know, slowly crawling. And then you get sniped and you're like, dang it. You know, and you've got to reset. So it's definitely a game for a certain type of people, just like certain extraction shooters or like Dirty campers.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Oh, people who want to live. Oh. But like, you know, Tarkov or anything like that. Like there are certain types of games for certain types of people. And this is one of those. I am extremely excited for this. I have a couple buddies that I'm going to play with. So if you're interested, hit us up.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Hit us up on the Discord. I'll play with you. but I'm definitely going to check this one out. This is a right guy guarantee. I'm going to play hell let loose Vietnam. So this is not one that I'm going to. Seal of approval. Yeah, seal of approval.
Starting point is 00:23:32 I can't wait to play this one. I'll believe it when I see it. Dude, you guys should play with me. It's going to be fun. I was going to say, did he invite you to play? He said he had buddies to play with. I didn't get an invite to play this. Well, it's not you guys.
Starting point is 00:23:43 I got real. I got real players. I wasn't invited to play this one. He's got war buddies. I will say the latest gameplay trailer, I was, I was watching some trailers and there was one guy that was playing this at the close bait or something like that. And it was literally him, literally
Starting point is 00:23:57 him hiding in bushes, just murking people as they ran past and nobody could see this guy. And I was kind of like, okay, well, this could be fun or this could be really frustrating just getting killed from, it's like one shot kill with those kind of games, isn't it? Oh, it's like a war sim. Yeah, it's definitely. Oh, is it really?
Starting point is 00:24:13 It's a lot. It's a lot more. It's like armor. Yeah, it's I don't like that. Yeah. I just get frustrated at this. Oh, it's, it's to get shot a million times so I can kill people. I mean, I kind of like that. I like a lower time to kill, so I have time to respond. I'm not, I'm not as cracked as I used to be.
Starting point is 00:24:30 All right. And then, oh, I didn't mention this. Dust Fade is on all platforms, by the way. So everything, it's coming out on. So good for Dust Fade. Good for them. Good for an indie acting. Yep.
Starting point is 00:24:41 All right, we're going to take a quick break, and then we'll get into the games that are coming out in the latter half of August. We will be right back after this break. All right. Have either of you played Sing. City. No, I haven't. I have heard of this game, but I knew nothing about it.
Starting point is 00:25:00 And I was hoping one of you do anything. I didn't even know what genre it was until I started the trailer. I didn't either. I kept seeing the name, the Sinking City. And then my brain goes to the forgotten city, which is the game. Yeah, that's the time. Oh, yeah. It was really good.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Yeah, yeah. This is a, I don't even know how to describe this, man. It's like a survival horror game. It's a survival horror game. Yeah. Yeah. It reminds me a little. bit of like a mix of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. It's creepy. Dude, this reminds me straight up
Starting point is 00:25:29 of the evil within. Like, it's got all the lives of the evil within. Oh, that's a, that's actually a really good call. Yeah. Yep. Uh, looks horrifying, looks scary. Looks like a very well done game. Uh, coming out August 18th for PC, PlayStation 5 Xbox series X and S. People that know Sinking City are probably very excited for the sequel. It looks really well done. That's basically all. we know because none of us know this franchise. Based off hearing it initially, I thought it was one of those like mystery detective games. That's the idea.
Starting point is 00:26:02 I had no idea. Yeah, there's definitely some figuring out what the heck happened to people on this one. I had no idea. It was one of the third person survival horror games. Yeah. There was some pretty terrifying imagery too. Oh, dude. Yeah, there's a little. It was very very brutal. The guy turns around there's like
Starting point is 00:26:17 tongue or like things coming out of his eyeballs and he's like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't. It's pretty narwhal. Yeah, this, it looks like a quality game. Just don't know anything about it. But check it out. And if you've played it, let us know what you think or what the drawing is. Because like I said, it looks well done.
Starting point is 00:26:34 Looks like, yeah, it looks well done. It looks like a good game. Anything that gives me vibes for the evil within has got my interest. I was going to say, I feel like this is an ace game written all over it. Yeah, I love the evil within. So. All right. And then August 25th, I'll be honest.
Starting point is 00:26:48 I'm not too optimistic on this one because I knew that this game was in development, but I had no idea this. game was releasing in August. Aliens Fire Team Elite 2. We picked up and played Aliens Fire Team Elite. We got it on sale for like five bucks. Ryan, we jumped in one weekend or something. We played like one or two sessions and then we kind of bounced off.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Yeah. Yeah, it's like, you know, it's a squad-based shooter. It's in the alien. It looks good. Like honestly, it looks good. Yeah, yeah. We got to like the final extraction and we got swarmed. We're like, all right, I'm done.
Starting point is 00:27:25 Yeah, I just don't know. I mean, this is supposedly an upgrade in a lot of ways to the original one. The original one I know a lot of people liked. I generally love these co-op, horror shooters with friends kind of games. I just, I have zero hype for this one, and I didn't even know it was coming out in August. I think, you know, I rewatched the trailer for this. I think it looks good. They added new alien types and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:27:48 Yeah, I saw that. I just, there's nothing that really excited me about this one. I'm sure it'll be good. It's not something I'm particularly interested in this month, but I'm sure it'll be fine. Yeah. Yeah. It looks like the same one just with a two after. It looks so similar to the original, but it's kind of like, maybe that's why. I hope it does well.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I really like these kind of games, like, honestly, but I also think this will probably be on sale in like three months for. Yeah, maybe it'll get somebody into this world or this genre and then they can get other games or something like that. So, you know. Stepping stone, you know. Yep. all right and then i know a lot of people are looking forward to the third game in the resonance a plague tale or well this one is called resonance a plague tale legacy this is in the plague tale franchise which i have never played a game in this franchise i know people love this franchise
Starting point is 00:28:42 um i feel like this is one of those ones that most people have heard of but most people have not experienced at all and then the people that have go like oh man like no you you guys should really, really play these games. I think this game looks really well done. I just know nothing about this franchise, but I do know that there's a lot of people that are excited for Resonance, a Plague Tale Legacy coming out August 27th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Starting point is 00:29:13 Compared to the other games, this one's a lot brighter. It definitely looks like a, like, yeah, the other ones are dark and gritty. And this one almost like, you kind of mentioned. and like Horizon Ace and like the lighting It's got the Horizon light engine for sure. Yeah, it's like bright and airy and different and I don't know. I again, I don't know anything about the story in this one.
Starting point is 00:29:33 I do know that this is a prequel, a prequel, a prequel to, was it, is it, what's the, what's the one that came out in 2022? So this resonance is a prequel to, I think it's called Requiem. I think it's called Requiem. I think it's called Requechule Requiem. And then there's the other one. It's just a plague tale, I think. Isn't it Plagetail Innocence?
Starting point is 00:29:54 Is it? I think Innocence is the first one. Man, why are we got to give subtitles to everything? This is just in the recesses of my game of the one, two, three, yeah, geez. Yeah, I know we've seen people. Hey, I got something right.
Starting point is 00:30:08 That was the 2019 one. Yeah. It was Requiem, the 2022 one? I believe so, yep. Yeah, okay. So this is a prequel to Requiem, so it's not like the third in the chronological order in the series, although this is the newest one in the series.
Starting point is 00:30:24 We're happy if you're excited for this one, like I said, just don't know much about it. But this is considered one of the bigger releases for the month because people that love this franchise really seem to love this franchise. And then there's the one that I'm most excited for, boys. I don't know about you guys, but I am very much looking forward to Star Wars Zero Company.
Starting point is 00:30:45 This is the Star Wars Turnbase Strategy, X-com, Clown. if you want to call it that in the Star Wars universe. I love me, some turn-based tactical combat. I'm not the biggest fan of X-com. And that's the only thing that worries me is I love turn-based combat, but X-com takes it a little too far where it's a little too slow-paced and it's a little too R&G.
Starting point is 00:31:10 You know, my 89% chance to headshot that guy is a whiff, with, with four turns in row. And then I just get super frustrated. And then I'm like, these guys are stupid. I freaking hate these. but I love turn-based tactical combat. I also happen to love Star Wars, and man, this game looks real good to me, boys. Am I on an island here?
Starting point is 00:31:33 I know Ryan has zero interest. Yeah, I know. Ryan will have zero interest. It reminds me a lot of a game. You guys probably never played, which was Mario Rabbit's Kingdom Battle, which is another turn-based. Oh, I know that game.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Yeah, it's a great turn-based tactical RPG, honestly. I would highly recommend it. But yeah, it reminds me a lot of that, but with Star Wars instead, which is a bit cooler than the rabbits. Oh, for sure. Yeah. The thing I like with Zero Company is you basically can build your team however you want. They're very clear about, hey, you make the team that you want to make.
Starting point is 00:32:04 At one point you see like one human and three droids going in, three R2 units. And I'm like, oh, this could get crazy. You know, you see a Jedi at one point. So you're really mixing up your party on this one. they show a very kind of in-depth like skill tree slash skills like abilities being unlocked. And so you're preparing for the mission and trying to decide which skills you want to bring in with you. That kind of thing. I love that tactical nature.
Starting point is 00:32:30 I love the Star Wars universe. This game looks really well done. I will absolutely be picking up Star Wars Zero Company because this is right up my alley. If you're a Star Wars fan, I think it looks great. If you're a fan of turn-based tactical combat, this looks great. If you're an excom fan, this is a no-brainer for you. This is the one for me that is like the highlight of the month out of all these other games because it's just like, this is made for Josh.
Starting point is 00:32:55 It's going to enjoy all four hours you put into it. I will put way more than that into it before I bounce off and get distracted with something else. Yeah. Dang it. So like, unlike me where I say I'm going to get it, you'll get it, but you're going to put in like, four hours. Shut up, man. Don't worry, right?
Starting point is 00:33:18 It's a disposable game. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It's like a friend slob. Who knows? I think it was, uh, in our, in our discord. It was like, people give us episode suggestions. And I think it was Kenny Pants that was like, why don't you guys talk about the games that like you love, but for no reason fell off on.
Starting point is 00:33:33 And like, you'd like to go back and finish one day. And I responded and went like, bro, that's like 90% of my back. Yeah. And he was like, I was thinking about you. Yeah. And I was like, oh, man. Yeah. So Star Wars Zero Company, to me, that's the big release this month.
Starting point is 00:33:49 It does look cool. Beast of Reincarnation is probably up there. I think Beast of Reincarnation is most people's big release this month. And then this is your big release this month. I feel like we should be more excited for Beast of Reincarnation, but I don't know, man. I don't know. So, all right. So just to recap, real quick, before we get out of here, August 4th.
Starting point is 00:34:07 So right around the corner, Beast of Reincarnation and Big Walk are coming out. We have Marvel Tocon Fighting Souls, August 6th. coming out. We have dusk fade and hell let loose Vietnam on August 13th. August 18th, we have Sinking City 2, August 25th. We have Aliens Fire Team Elite 2. And right at the end of the month, August 27th, because, you know, they always got to make you wait for the great games. We have Residence, a Plagetail Legacy, and Star Wars Zero Company. Ryan, what game on this list are you most excited for? I'm definitely most excited for Hellel-Lose. Yeah, I figured. Ace, what about you?
Starting point is 00:34:45 It's kind of a toss-up for me between Big Walk and Dusk Fade, honestly. I think I could go either way depending. If everyone's playing Big Walk, I'm more excited for Big Walk. If no one's playing Big Walk, dust fade, 100%. And who knows if the big Chatt GPT machine is right, but I put it in there for the wishlist. And it says Beasts of Reincarnation is number one. Marvel is two and Star Wars is three for the top three for wishless. Oh, for monthly wish list?
Starting point is 00:35:11 Yeah, I believe that. Absolutely. Yeah, and then for me, Star Wars Zero Company, hands down. It's not even close for me at that point. I am very curious about Big Walk. Like, legitimately, I like to sometimes play a game that I go, my brain goes, yeah, you're not going to like this. And then like seeing.
Starting point is 00:35:28 And so I'm down to actually try Big Walk. Like, if you guys want to give it a shot and see it, like I might hate it. And I'll know I hate it within the first couple hours, but I'm willing to say, hey, let's give it a shot and see what this thing is like. Like peak? It'll just be peak again. It will be peak. Dude, I have never bounced off.
Starting point is 00:35:43 a game. I have never bounced off a game faster than I bounced off the peak, dude. I'd never seen somebody. I knew right away. He was gone immediately. Immediately. Yeah.
