fellow gamers and welcome to the video gamers podcast. July is here and we're in the dog days of summer.
Is it another catch up on your backlog month or are there some must play releases that you should know about?
Well, we're breaking down all the big releases for July for you. But first, some introductions are in order.
I am your host Josh and joining me, I'm not sure which of these games has him most excited.
All I know is he probably is excited because that's his natural default state.
It's Ryan.
You know, I'm really excited about a lot of these games.
I'm going to check them out.
I'm going to check a lot of these out for sure.
Are you excited, Ryan?
Are you excited for July?
No, I'm really excited for July.
I'll tell you what.
I never would have guessed.
Never in a million years.
There's some good games coming out this month, people.
You know, so there's probably more than you think.
and it's our job to tell you which ones.
But first, and joining us, when we made our list of games for July,
he kept tossing out games that we'd never heard of,
asking if we should add them to the list.
And we had to tell them no at least seven times.
It's A's.
Oh, so it's the same as all the time.
It's the same.
Every single month.
It's the same thing.
So you've heard of this.
I'm like, A, so wait a minute.
Let's see how many games we have on our list here.
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen,
we have fifteen games.
We're not covering fifteen games.
There's zero chance that we can do that.
And then there's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, there's eight games that
we're absolutely trying to at least talk about, which maybe we'll have time for those,
but Ace just kept linking us games and being like, should we talk about this game?
Well, what about this one, guys?
And we were like, Ace.
like nobody but you
has ever heard of that game.
Look guys, it's
baked potato simulator.
Oh, not baked potato simulator.
But you can sprinkle chives, right?
Chives, guys.
What about that game where you take care of houseplants, Ryan?
It was a killer.
There's DLC bacon bits, guys.
I kind of want that TLC.
That sounds real good.
Oh, making me hungry.
Oh, man.
Well, welcome in everybody.
Goodness.
guys we got a lot of games to talk about
before we get to the
excitement for July we have a little bit of excitement
because we have a new supporter of the show
to thank so a huge shout out to the one and
only Sully for signing up for rare status
thank you so
for supporting the podcast also joined our
Discord server has been chatting it up with everybody
jumped in there when I heard this place is really cool
and then like 45 minutes
later was like, wow, this place is actually really cool.
We're like, we say it every single episode.
Nobody believes us until they get there.
And then they're like, okay, you guys weren't lying.
So we worked.
Welcome in, Sully.
Thanks for the support.
Listen, if you have been listening to this podcast for a while, real quick, this is, this
is the shout out, the call out to you, Mr.
listener, Mrs. listener, to think about supporting the show.
We can only do this because there are many people out there that support the show.
And you're thinking, well, if there's many people, you guys don't need.
Yes, we do.
We need your support too.
Games are $80 now.
We need all the support.
Yeah, we need the support.
Oh, my gosh.
It's freaking expensive, man.
You know?
So if you like what we do and you want to support that, there is a link in the episode
description that will take you to Patreon and you can sign up.
It starts at five bucks a month.
Let's be honest, in this economy, that's like finding a quarter on.
the ground. So if you found a quarter on the ground, would you give it to your favorite
podcast and be like, here you go, guys. It's basically the same thing. And we'll love you forever.
Yeah. Ace is looking around like, I promise I won't buy more figurines and collector's editions
with it either people. I can't make promises I can't keep. That's not right.
That's fair. That's fair. We know you, Ace. So, you know. I'm already looking at the new
Overwatch collab. I'm like, oh, here we go. Which ones do I want? I'm going to say this, when,
because you guys know I'm not a cosmetics guy.
When and if the Eldon Ring collab ever happens,
I will be opening the wallet.
Holding you.
Holding you to that one.
I will be opening the wallet.
I will be interested.
That might be the only time I'll ever have paid money for skins.
Which one would you want?
Well, I'd probably want one for his mains.
More than likely.
Yeah.
I need, like, the Melania one.
Like, who would she be like Moira maybe?
Oh, if they did Malenia,
they'd put it on freaking Vindon.
data. No, shut up, Ace. Let's, all right, let's just get this episode before you ruin things,
Ace. Oh, for I ruin things. I see how it is. Oh, man. All right. Well, listen, so there's,
the way that we're going to do this because we do have, like I said, there's 15 games that we picked
out. Now, that doesn't mean that there's not a lot more releasing this month, but these are the kind of the
bigger titles. We do have some indie games mixed in here as well, but we figured we'd try to focus on a few
of these for all of you out there
to explain why they make us
excited and why you should be excited.
And then we will mention some of these for those
of you out there that were, oh, I forgot about
that game. So first
up, this one is already out. We're not going to
spend time on this because we covered it on our
Nintendo direct episode that
confused the world.
Rhythm Heaven groove.
If that's your thing, if
I'm going to check it out.
Are you going to check that one out, right?
I'm going to check that out.
B-A
B-A
B-A-B-A B A B
No
Don't get too crazy now Ryan
That's three buttons
Careful Ryan yeah
Well hold on
I know
All right so Rhythm Heaven
Groove is out on the Nintendo Switch
This is not a Switch 2 game
Although it will play on your Switch 2 apparently
But that's out now
You can pick it up
Dude Nintendo backwards compatibility
What good on them
I know good on them after the
Wow
release or the news we've had lately
I mean, oh my gosh, guys, I'm not going there.
I know, we can't go there.
We can't go there.
For backwards compatibility.
We'll get in trouble again.
Anyway, moving on.
Since we're talking about hell here, guys,
Doom is our Cacheous Revelations.
What a segue.
I love it.
A segue indeed.
Oh, man.
That is out.
Well, I guess it's today.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
This episode is airing.
So on July 7th.
Doom the Dark Ages Revelations is an expansion slash
DLC for Doom the Dark Ages.
Ryan, you played Doom the Dark Ages. What'd you think?
I really loved it.
It'd been a long time since I played a quality Doom game.
And this one kind of came out of nowhere for me.
I don't know if I just missed it or was a weird spot.
I'm actually genuinely excited for this one.
I want more Doom.
I want more just smashing and killing demons
and big monsters and just the epic nature of what this Doom game holds.
So yeah, dude, this one looks really cool.
I did not expect it to be released this soon and I'm excited for it.
I got to know, is the spear just the weapon we give to characters and we run out of ideas?
I like the spear, though.
I thought the spear was cool.
Everybody likes the spear is why.
He like put it through his head.
I'm saying like, when we ran out of ideas and what to give Cratos, they're like, give him a
Spirers. No, I'm just kidding. He can spoil.
I can spoil that. If you have played Ragnar, that's on you.
Kratos gets a spear, just say that.
Yeah, Kratos gets a spear, all right?
Yeah. It's not very good.
No, everyone hates the spirit, God of War.
Ace, you played, did you?
Because I feel like you've played Dume Eternal, but I can't remember if you played.
I played the DLC for Eternal. I have not played the Dark Ages.
Okay. How do you feel about Dume Eternal?
What do you thought on that? I think Duma Turner's great. I love how, like, movement-based it is.
It's not very heavy. It's very light and, like, parkour-focused.
and from what I hear, Doom the Dark Ages is far more like,
you're a tank.
You're a face tank.
You're a face tank.
You're not jumping and flying around and stuff.
Yeah, you have some mobility with the shield bash, but I'll say this,
if you want a just dumb, good fun game where you were like, bro,
everything this game sets out to do, it does perfectly.
That's Doom the Dark.
That's any, like Doom Eternal Doom the Dark Ages.
So I'm actually, I'm with Ryan on this one.
Revelations looks like a lot of fun to me.
It's just stupid gaming fun.
They have the chain spear now in this one.
I don't know how long it's going to be.
About 10 hours.
It's just going to be fun, dude.
Like, that's plain and simple.
That's what the Doom games are.
You know when you watch like robot battle stuff and like they're just, you're just like.
Oh, I freaking love battle.
Yeah, you're just like battle bots.
Battlebots are the best.
And so you watch it and you're just like, oh, you just see carnage of stuff flying everywhere.
That's what this game feels like.
It feels like that.
It's just constant carnage and destruction.
And it's a good feel.
So I'm, yeah, I'm stoked for another 10 hours of it.
Just a good time, man.
So there you go.
That's coming out on PC Xbox Series X and S and the PS5.
All right, Moonlight Peaks.
We're not going to spend a lot of time on this one.
This is coming out July 7th.
So same day.
We'll talk about two games that couldn't be more opposite of each other.
Yeah, no kidding.
Moonlight Pinks is a cozy game a la Star Do Valley.
You are a vampire with a farm.
and it's just a cozy,
cute little game.
It makes me nauseous.
This is you're starting valleys,
your harvest moons,
but the twist here is you're a vampire
and you have vampire powers.
That's the whole thing.
What are you going to do
with vampire powers while you're farming?
I don't know.
You probably still got to drink blood and stuff.
I'm sure you still have to like hunt the town's people.
Can you just like drain a beat instead and be like,
hey.
Now you make me think of like Adventure Time with Marcellain.
I was just going to say,
That's Marcelli.
What are you?
This isn't Marcelline.
She's just got to drink red.
Yeah, drink the color red.
I will say this.
My wife, who absolutely loves Cozy Games, is very excited for this game.
If you are a cozy gamer, Moonlight Peaks is right up your alley.
Don't miss out on this one because my wife has been waiting for the next cozy game to come out.
And this is the one that's on her radar.
So it probably should be on your radar as well.
And that's out today.
All right, guys, the first game that we're going to dive into a little bit more.
The Black Flag remake, the first Quadruple A remake that the world has ever known.
I am stupid excited for this.
Oh, dude, Black Flag is an all-timer.
Getting back into the Jackdaw with Edward Kenway and getting on that ship and just sailing the seas again is going to feel so good for me.
I'm so excited.
My nostalgia bone is tingling.
See, this is great
because you have the nostalgia bone
and you're excited.
Also, please don't ever say
your bone is tingling ever again, okay?
I really tried to ignore it, and then
Ryan just lost it and I was like,
I tried so hard to be a good host, Ryan.
I was just going to move on.
Oh, we know I'm not professional.
First, it's the P.
Oregon now that's tingling bone?
What is going on around?
I'm home too much, that's what.
All right, well, moving on from Aces Tingle.
Ryan and I have never played Black Flag.
No, you're in for a treat.
I'm excited, Ryan. Are you excited?
I'm excited for my bone to tingle.
I'm, I think that watching this, I watch some pretty extensive gameplay
and the movement with the ships in like the look of just the ocean and the combat,
all of it looks so good.
Even,
and one of the big things that people always talk about is how much people hate water levels,
you know, quote unquote in games.
But even the swimming, you know,
you see your character swimming underneath and going to like a crash ship or whatever.
I think it all looks so, so good.
I am not a big fan of just the constant remakes in the film industry.
in the game industry, just over and over
because they have no good ideas and they don't care to make any.
But this is one having missed out on the first go-around,
I think I'm pretty excited to check out this time.
You know, being able to have a good first crack at it
once it's remade and kind of modernized,
it's, I'm excited.
Yeah, man, once you step onto the deck of the ship
and you just get to hear the sea shanties and you come across your first,
like, whale hunting spot or something like that.
It's just so cool, dude.
I'm so excited for you guys to experience.
experience it. And the story is great.
Cool. That's good. That's the thing I don't hear anything about. I'm just hearing about the
gameplay and the sailing and the naval combat and stuff like that. Oh, the story and the characters
are awesome. Here's what gets me excited is when you talk to most fans of Assassin's Creed,
the last one that everybody points to and says, what was the last great Assassin's Creed?
Everybody goes, Black Flag. Black Flag. It's Black Flag. It's Black Flag. And I'll be honest,
I never would have gone back and played Black Flag on my own.
But now that the remake's coming, it's like this is the perfect opportunity.
So it's like, you know, Ryan kind of said it.
It's like, you know, we're not the biggest fan of remakes.
But if it gets new player base to experience an older game, then it kind of works out.
And then this case, it's working out because we are all three very excited for this one.
We will be deep diving the Black Flag remake.
We've already talked about that.
That way, you know, Ryan and I can kind of give our impressions as first time players.
and then Ace, you'll be able to have the viewpoint of somebody that has played the original
and now gets to experience the remake as well.
So this might be the biggest game release for July.
Do you guys think?
Is there another one that you think might be?
Well, a little bit later this month, there's another, I mean, I can't.
I think for July, I would easily say the Black Flag remake is absolutely the biggest release.
Definitely top two.
Yeah, top two at least.
Top two at least.
But that's another remake.
I say it's remake versus remake.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
We'll get to that.
We'll get to Halo here in a little bit.
So let's just keep trucking along there.
But Black Flag remake out Thursday, July 9th, PC, Xbox series X and S and PS5.
For you sports fans out there, EA sports, college football, 2027 is coming out July 9th as well.
We're just going to skip over that because we don't really play sports games around these parts.
I know people are excited for that one.
Here's an exciting game.
My daughter has been talking about this one.
Power World.
Power World is fully releasing guys.
And, you know, there's a lot of people out there that went, yeah, but I played Power
World like two years ago.
Yes, so did we.
And it was great two years ago.
And they have revamped and done so much to this game that a lot of people are saying,
if you haven't played it in the last couple years, it will seem like a completely different
game to you.
Are you guys excited for Power World?
I am actually.
I think I'm actually going to read download and go back to it and play it with some friends, for sure.
And if y'all are interested, we're going to play it together, obviously.
But I've heard you guys talk anything about it.
Maybe we'll go viral again.
Yeah, maybe we'll go viral again.
Do we just duplicate nothing?
Yeah, we just go and set up on.
Do we just re-release it and be like, look what we found guys.
And then we just do it and see if it catches on again.
And then they repost it again like they did the first time.
Wait, have you seen this before?
I don't.
What do you guys think about, like, is, are these early access things somewhat intentional to where you can launch a game and get funding to help finish developing your game?
And then in a year or two, they, the hype when you release the game generates it all back up again.
Because if they launched it two years ago, you know, everyone, it'd be kind of dead and falling off.
But, like, coming up, people don't care about the updates or the patches as much.
This is how you do it.
Yeah.
I mean, this also gave them the chance to deal with all their lawsuits and stuff before they went into full release.
Fricking Nintendo.
So that kind of helped them there and helped them build their identity.
And they built, like, a very strong fan base from it.
Yeah.
They were fighting lawyer Mario.
It's so weird because, Ryan, we had a blast.
I mean, all three of us had a blast.
Yeah, it was a game.
It's weird because, you know, my brain kind of goes, I've played Powell World.
I'm not super excited to play it again, but I know it also is going to be very different.
I just don't know that we'll have time right now,
but I know a ton of people are excited for this.
And honestly, I wish Pal World the best, dude.
They seem like a cool studio.
They're taking on Nintendo and trying to fight back for the little guys,
and I appreciate that.
So that comes out July 10th, PC, Xbox Series X&S, and PlayStation 5 people.
If you did not experience Pal World during the initial popularity boom,
this is absolutely a top-notch survival crafting.
exploration type game with we can't call them Pokemon but your little pals with your pals it's a
dude this game's fantastic so if you if you if you didn't catch the initial wave this is your
your call to say hey pal world is a really really good game people uh so don't miss out on it this
time around um the altars is getting a dLC me whatever last i know you don't like that crap
whatever i knew you were going to try to glaze over this one dude this i'm excited for this and i know
I'm excited for a lot of stuff.
But like...
Yeah, that's good as you.
I'm the only one.
That's a natural state of being.
I'm very excited.
It is.
I'm very excitable.
But you guys didn't like it, especially Josh, just because he wasn't good at it.
I never played it.
Don't come at me.
So, yeah.
So Paul, I know Paul didn't like it.
But I, man, I've really enjoyed this game.
I think that it's cool to expand the world and keep going on with, with him and, uh, what you
could do with, with, you know, everything they have there.
So I don't know.
I'm stoked for it.
I will, I don't know when I'll get to it, but I really, really want to check it out again.
I very much enjoyed that game.
This is a heck of a DLC, too.
This is a 20-hour expansion.
Yeah, if you like base management, if you like beautiful world building and world crafting and exploration and stuff like that, this will be a game for you.
And then this update will be good as well.
Yeah, that's a big DLC, 20 hours worth of content.
All right, real quick, before we take a break here, ascend to zero.
comes out July 13th.
This is the rogue-like time-based kind of action combat game.
I think this game actually looks like a lot of fun, man.
Similar to like Hades in a sense,
kind of similar to Risk of Rain in a sense.
That's kind of the two closest comparisons I think I could make.
Very fun-looking action, combat, rogue-like,
bullet-hout, time manipulation-type stuff.
Yeah.
And it's got like voxel graphics.
What's the other one?
that we would play that was
there's one other game that looks like this
in the layers of the levels where we would
Josh you and I played it a ton
Um
the endless dungeon? Yeah.
That's what it was. That was the game that got Ryan
to like roadline. That's what's
the end of the genre. Yeah. So that's
what this reminded me of. I looked at it and
I'm like I don't know if I'm
as excited about it as anything else, but like
it reminded me of endless dungeon.
So that did peak my interest a little bit.
So if you like that style,
It looked like the combat and the enemies and stuff played out the same way, which, which looks pretty neat.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
All right.
We've got the big games coming up after the break, people.
So make sure you stick around because we've got, we've got the bigger releases.
They're all kind of coming later on this month here.
We'll be right back to talk about those.
All right, guys.
It's time to get to the needy-gritty on this one, man.
There's a lot in this upcoming list.
I'm pretty excited about it.
It makes it kind of hard to choose.
first up, I'll say this.
I am super curious about this.
We're actually going to play the demo after we record this episode because the Mound, Omen of
Cthrulyleu, releases on July 15th for PC Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
This is a cooperative multiplayer kind of exploration horror, rogue-like kind of game.
Like, it's kind of hard to decipher what your goal is in this game.
Like, it seems like you're just on an expedite.
Well, yeah, you're on an expedition to gather artifacts, but like, what's going to happen to you?
Yeah, nobody knows.
Nobody really knows.
Crazy stuff is going to happen.
But yeah, this game actually looks sick.
I love how it plays around with the sanity mechanics and how it's basically going to make you very untrusting of the people you're with, regardless of if you can hear them on voice chat or not.
I'm very excited to see this game.
And I hope it lives up to it.
Yeah, it is kind of spooky sky room.
I think this game looks great.
We're going to hop in because I said, dude,
if you go by the trailer and you go by the gameplay they've shown,
this game looks, I think this might be the most under the radar game out there right now
if it plays like it looks.
So we're going to dive into the demo to try it.
If it's not janky and the combat is fun and the sanity mechanics work,
this game might be the hidden gem of the month, to be honest with.
you. Um, so not a re-bake. Don't sleep on this one. New content. What? New content, man.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Like, this just looks fun. The graphics look good. Like, everything about this
screams polished to me. It's just got a weird name. Um, so we're going to try it because we're,
our curiosity is peaked enough that it's like, we're, we're going to test this one out and we'll,
we'll let people know what we think on this one. But that comes out July 15th. Check out the trailers on
this one. Follow the response on this one. Because like I said, we're, we're going to test this one.
this could be one of the hidden gems for July.
We got to talk up, Tito boys.
It's finally time.
Tito, it is time.
There are probably some listeners going,
what the heck is it Tito, guys?
Well, Ace, how would you describe Tito?
Tito is a cartoonish 3D action platformer
where you play as a little blob that can sort of use his environments
to solve puzzles and fight enemies.
and it's just a joy.
And it is clearly like the passion project of this family.
And we've talked about a few times.
We've played the demos.
We've, you know, looked at the gameplay intensively.
It's just a good time all around.
Think you're, you know, your hat in times, your banjo cuisies.
Like all of those moments are just going to come together for you.
Yeah, I can see.
Yeah, crash bandicoot as well.
Yeah.
It's not as hard as Crash Bandicoat.
I'll say it's a lot easier.
Yeah.
This game looks incredible.
And we talk all the time about what happened to the 3D platformer.
You know, what happened to that genre.
Well, Tito is bringing it back in full force, man.
We have played this demo multiple times.
Again, we have an interview with the developer that is going to be releasing on Thursday.
So make sure you check that out.
This is the Eat Pant Games is the studio.
It's a husband and wife team that developed this game over like the last three-ish years.
Yeah, three or four years.
They, you know, they had just an absolute blast making this game.
Their kids do some of the voice acting.
These are developers that you could tell just absolutely made the game that they wanted to make.
We tout that all the time, but there is a fantastic 3D platformer here, people.
It's a lot of fun.
The influence from Banjo-Kazui is absolutely like there.
It's noticeable.
The controls are tight.
The world is beautiful.
the humor is there.
It's kind of like you said,
Ace,
this game is an absolute joy
to just play.
And that's why we play video games,
people.
So, uh,
we do?
Yeah.
Yes.
And if you,
if you've played a hat in time,
play Tito,
because if you enjoyed what a hat and time
offered with its movement mechanics
and its platforming and just the overall vibe of the game,
you'll enjoy what Tito has to offer.
Yeah.
Uh,
you can absorb abilities,
uh,
from things in the world and then use those.
There's a lot of creativity here.
There's a lot of creativity here.
There's a lot of,
lot of those one-off set pieces where you might be, you know, entering an area and then something
crazy happens or a puzzle that you have to solve or something like that. Do not, do not sleep on Tito.
This game is going to be great. We have played the demo multiple times at this point. There's
something special here, people. So just just trust us on this. But that releases July 15th for PC
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and the PlayStation 5. My wife is,
actually excited for Tito.
She, she,
just so people know,
like we're not just glazing this game.
My wife saw the trailer for Tito and came to me and went,
hey, have you seen this game Tito?
And I was like,
oh my gosh, baby,
like yes.
And then she's like,
it looks so cute.
It's kind of like Banjo Kizui and some of these other games that she loves.
And I was like,
this is crazy.
But yes,
that's how good it looks.
So be on the lookout for that July 15th.
There's some dumb game called Avatar Legends.
Oh, here we go.
Fighting games.
Dude,
come on.
You kept putting on this list and I just, I don't know.
How do you hate Avatar the last airbender?
I don't.
I don't hate Avatar.
I do.
Because you say this game looks bad, but it looks like the show.
It is the exact like animation of the show.
Just because the game looks like the show, does it mean it's a good fighting game?
What?
Okay, you told me when I talked about this earlier, once Ace and I were mentioning it in our chat,
um, you said that it looks like crap.
It's a bad fighting game.
Yeah.
What about it?
What about it makes it look like it?
Because it looks like every other fighting game.
He's got nothing.
The animations are slow.
The characters are uninteresting.
The characters are uninteresting.
The characters.
Ang sits on a wind ball.
Somebody that doesn't watch Avatar.
Yeah.
That's the thing.
You two fans.
But listen, like if I made a Minecraft fighting game,
would it sell a million copies?
Like, yes.
Does it mean it's a good fighting game?
No.
Minecraft doesn't have the lore behind it.
with its characters to understand why these characters
fight the way they do. Hold on guys.
Hold on. Josh may have just discovered something.
We should make an avatar or a
Minecraft fighting game.
You wouldn't know where to begin. Creeper versus skeleton?
Like come on, man. We'll make billions.
We'll only have to pay billions for the rates.
But yeah, you know, people
want to ban on this and Ryan.
You are ridiculous.
You guys are glazing this game and neither one of you
is going to pick this up.
I suck at fighting games.
This looks great. I love fighting games.
and I mean, like,
Aang has his normal bow staff
that he uses to fly with and stuff
and like the combat mechanics
look crisp, they look clean.
I don't know what you're talking about
about it being slow.
I like the combos.
I like the counters.
Because you guys get so upset if I talk about this game.
It's got so many deep cuts too.
Like you've got characters from the Legend of Core.
You've got people from the Kiyoshi books.
Wait, wait.
You're telling me that in an avatar fighting game
that they have characters from Avatar?
All right, we're moving on.
All right, we're moving on.
You want to talk about it?
Don't let them win, Ace.
Don't let them win.
July 23rd, it's going to be out everywhere.
So you'll see a little fat sales a bunch of things.
I'll tell you what.
Oh, here we go.
Here we go.
If I want to play a fighting game,
I want a fighting game that has a dinosaur.
And I want a fighting game that has a dinosaur
with a gigantic sword in its mouth
that goes around and takes on other dinosaurs.
guys anybody who's been listening to this podcast for a while knows we have talked about dino blade in the past
dino blade is officially releasing july 23rd for pc this game looks bananas
and it looks bananas in the best way imaginable dude i can't wait to get my hands on dino blade
it's we talk about video games being fun just give me the dumb fun man let me swing it let me just
jump around with a freaking dinosaur with a sword and fight other dinosaurs, man.
This game looks awesome.
I've been craving a soul's like.
I don't know what else we can say.
And a soul's leg with a dinosaur just sounds perfect for me, especially because I know how
this game plays because I played the demo.
And it plays like a soul's like hack and slash RPG.
Like it's devil may cry.
I was like, oh my gosh.
But it's dinosaurs with a sword.
Yeah, but it's dinosaurs.
It makes it 10 times better.
Which is why I just keep calling it Dino May Cry.
Yeah.
Also, it's got a.
banger of a soundtrack that plays during these fights too, man.
Like this game is just adrenaline and joy.
Like, just like give it to me.
I never knew that the world needed this.
But now that I've seen it, I can't unsee it.
And I'm very excited about Dino Blade.
Sorry console people.
It is PC exclusive right now.
I have a feeling if this game is popular.
Yeah.
If it takes off, you'll see it hit console for sure.
Yeah.
So.
Bro.
And then they start doing, uh,
they start doing, uh,
collabs with like Jurassic Park.
And they're getting like,
How is the Spinosaurs for Smash?
Specialty, yeah, the specialty dinosaurs and stuff.
I got to see if my daughter who loves nothing but dinosaur games is interested in this one.
So she'll probably say no.
It's no arc.
It's too much exciting.
Yeah.
All right.
And then we've got Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive for the month.
We have Splatoon Raiders coming out July 23rd.
This is the single player Splatoon Rogue like game that we saw at the Nintendo Doors.
direct that they announced.
There's probably a good game here.
I'm not the biggest fan of Splatoon.
Most of this stuff looks like it's been done before,
but I also get, if you have a Switch 2,
and this is your kind of game,
you're probably excited for Splatoon Raiders.
And I honestly can understand why at this point.
It'll be a quality game, like, regardless.
I think it's a bit weird to take Splatoon,
this like multiplayer focused game and solely put it into the single player,
but I get it.
Yeah.
You know, everything's wanting to be a,
rogue-like now. I mean, Galactic Racer, right? Which we're all very excited for. People might hear a little bit more of that on Monday's episode where we talk about the year and review and what's coming for the rest of 2026. And it's like, Galactic Racer has a, oh, Ace.
Hold on. Wait a second. Did Ace just snore about Galactic Racer, Ryan?
All right, ladies and gentlemen, we've had some chains. We're going to need a new host.
applications.
He's entitled to it.
We troll his games all the time.
It's okay.
It's fine.
His games suck, Josh.
That's fair.
That's fair.
Ace, you're going to not have a choice.
Oh, you're going to pay for that.
I already know I'm going to have to play it.
You're going to pay for that.
He doesn't know, Ryan.
He doesn't know.
So it's like we can't, we can't fault him for that.
We get to force him to play one game a month.
That's what we have to do.
Yeah, exactly.
And that's,
I already have to play GTA Z.
so you know, whatever.
Yeah, well, there you go.
I have to play one of those
silent shows of all time.
I lost my train of thought
because my brain just reeled
at a snoring about galactic risk.
Oh, oh, it was about roguelike games.
Like, you know, I'm here, I like rogolikes, man.
Like, keep making better games
in this genre.
Like, it's better than the open world trend
that happened for a long time
and then we just went up with empty open worlds.
Yeah, I don't mind rogolikes.
I do not enjoy, like, open worlds
that don't need to be open worlds.
I think they're easy.
That's the thing is like open worlds that are open space with nothing in it.
Yeah, with nothing in it.
Like open world that's meant to be open and meant to be explored and has a lot in it.
That's one thing.
But just to make it because, like that's popular.
Yeah, that's not good.
Rogue like games, I feel like the elements are easier to incorporate into a game and make it fun.
Replicate and make something decent for sure.
All right.
Well, this game is not a roguelike, but this might be the other big release for July.
Halo campaign evolve.
Quick, somebody give me the monks.
Bring in the monks.
I mean, guys, I don't know what to say about this other than I can't wait to get my hands on this game.
I have played the Halo series is legendary.
Ace, you never played the original Halo, right?
Uh, no, not the original.
No, most I played his, uh, what one, I played that one.
Halo Infinite.
You and I played Infinite.
And that was as much as I've played with the main series.
You never played three?
No, I didn't know him with 360.
Yeah, he didn't.
No.
Just wait.
If this works, I can't, they're going to remake all.
They're going to do them all.
I hope they do.
If this works, they will just remake the entire franchise.
I'm okay with that.
And the difference is they won't put them on PlayStation.
Yeah.
It does feel weird because Halo campaign involved.
releasing July 28th for PC Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5?
That feels weird.
This was an agreement that was made long ago that they couldn't get out of, apparently.
I don't know if there'll be disc copies.
This game looks fantastic.
You talk about a remake.
This is the graphics look incredible.
It is a true remake of the original game.
There are three new missions that they showcased on this one.
I love, like one of them are flying a covenant ship out in outer space.
like skimming along this giant like capital ship I thought looked really cool.
This is meant to be played co-op.
Not that you can't play at solo, but that is one of the selling points,
especially for us,
is that the campaign was fully designed for co-op play with your buddies.
I'm excited for this one, man.
I need a weapon.
I mean, tooling around an award hog, like, you know,
Ryan crashing us in everything, me lighting everything up and ace chasing afterwards
because he pushed the wrong button and jumped out.
It just sounds like a good time to me.
I can't wait.
I'm so excited for this.
Yeah.
Dude,
Halo's going to be so good.
Uh,
so there you go.
And if you,
listen,
if you were a PlayStation person and you never got to experience Halo,
do not,
do not miss out on this game,
people.
Don't do it.
This is the original Halo.
This is what sold millions of Xboxes to the world.
I mean,
this is the game.
The game that,
that,
like,
made Xbox a thing.
It's the only reason Xbox is still around.
Oh, for sure.
Like, legitimately, that might be true, A, so.
All right.
And then last one of the month, this game, I don't know what to think about this, man.
This game has caught my attention.
It looks like it could be really good.
It also looks like the kind of game that we've seen failed multiple times.
This is a game called Mistfall Hunter releases July 29th for PlayStation Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation.
five. This is
a
action RPG extraction
kind of fantasy
you know, I don't want to say
medieval, but like, you know,
your tank, your healer, your range
characters, your rogues, your archers,
your wizards, that kind of thing. Think
like dark and darker. That's what I was
going for. I was thinking dark and darker
or what's that Ubisoft
game where they
for honor. Well, there was
I think there was another one called like Dungeonborn or something
like that where this is it's an extraction shooter but you're playing fantasy characters yeah and i'll be
honest i think it looks pretty dang fun man it's kind of a crazy genre to mix up like we always talk about
how like people are running out of ideas when they start mixing genres together this one's so
unique and untouched like i'm i'm genuinely curious to see where it goes like it looks i my
my social media feed got into this
like this Mistfall Hunter's
Algo for a little while and it was like people doing
PVP and taking on other other teams and stuff.
And it looked freaking sweet, dude.
Like I'm not going to lie.
I love that aspect, especially when it's like,
you know, your fantasy characters and stuff like that.
Again, we've seen this kind of game before,
but I don't know that we've seen it done as well as Mistfall Hunter.
And this really has my curiosity peaked, guys.
like the three of us in there
like trying to just get loot and get out
but then coming across an enemy team
there's also the combat looks like a ton of fun
your roles look important
I mean I don't know man this one
I'm very very curious about this one
if this is done right
this is going to be very
very cool yeah I think so
the world looks amazing
like absolutely amazing it's
beautiful and then if they can
I mean like
I know Josh you're a big fantasy guy
so anyone
that that leans towards that aesthetic is going to love the look of this already. And then it's
just if the gameplay matches with what you like. And I think it will. It looks clean.
Yeah. They've had several open or several betas. I don't know if they were open or not,
but they've had several betas. There's a lot of videos out there that talk about people that got
to put hundreds of hours into this. And the reception is pretty dang positive so far, which is
kind of neat to see for a game like this. Because like I said, these
are very hit or miss.
So don't sleep on miss Fall Hunter.
I think this game could wind up being a lot of fun.
It definitely has our curiosity peaked.
And that comes out July 29th.
So there you go, everybody.
There's your games for July.
Not a bad month at all.
No.
Not a bad month, man.
We're feasting, boys.
Feasting.
You know, except from a wallet.
So here's your top games for the month, according to us.
That is Black Flag Remake.
Power World 1.0 release, The Mound Omen of Cthulhu, Tito, Dino Blade, Splatoon Raiders, Halo campaign evolved and missed Fall Hunter.
And for you, cozy gamers out there, Moonlight Peaks looks really good.
And if you want, just stupid dumb fun, don't forget about Doom the Dark Ages revelations as well.
And if you're good at fighting games, Avatar Legends.
The Fighter Legends, the fighting game.
Yeah, if you're good at them.
But if you don't, you're not, then you probably won't like that.
Yeah. And if you enjoy Peak Cinema.
like, you know, Avatar the last airbender.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So your Avatar fans, somebody's trying to take advantage of your fandom there.
There you go.
All right.
Listen, everybody, that is going to do it for this episode.
A lot to be excited about in July.
We will be covering Black Flag remake as a deep dive.
We are still debating what the other game is that we're going to deep dive this month.
We'll absolutely be playing the Halo campaign evolved.
We're just curious.
We don't know if we're going to deep dive that.
or if maybe we wind up hopping into the mound,
Omen of Cthulhu or Miss Fall Hunters,
to give you guys out there an idea
of what those two games are about.
Do not forget about Tito coming out July 15th.
This game's going to be awesome.
Look for the dev interview episode on Thursday.
Mitch and Allie are the developers.
They are awesome people.
I'm very excited for that episode.
That's going to be a lot of fun.
And then coming Monday is our 2026 year in review so far.
We're halfway through the year.
We're going to be talking about the games that have released the best games so far this year
and what is left to be excited about because there's a lot to be excited about, fellas,
for the rest of this year.
So that will be Monday's episode.
Make sure you tune in for that one.
Once again, a huge thanks to Sully for signing up for Rare Status to support the show.
A huge shout out to every other person out there that supports this podcast.
We couldn't do it without you.
So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for that.
And hey, if you're not supporting, think about it.
There's a link in the episode description that you can use to sign up.
All right, that's going to do it, everybody.
Until next time, happy gaming.
See ya.
Peace out.
