Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the VideoGamers podcast.
We're back with the conclusion of the summer spectacular
in this grand finale episode.
Sony came out swinging with awesome games like God of War Lafay and Wolverine.
Summer Games Fest showed us the fire that is
blood message and Galactic Racer, and Xbox came in with heavy hitters like Fable, E-Day,
and Clockwork Revolution. We thought we had the best out of the way. And then, Nintendo hit us with the
latest Nintendo Direct, and we just couldn't contain ourselves. Stay tuned to find out what has us
excited in all the amazing new games and incredible-looking new IPs that Nintendo has been cooking.
There's a new leader in town for cutting edge game development, and we're here to break it all down for you.
We can hardly contain our excitement, but first, some introductions are in order.
I am your host, Josh, and joining me his exact words while watching the Nintendo Direct were,
I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this.
It's Ryan.
I just, this is one of the, I'm far more excited for this.
episode than I've been in a very long time, dude. Oh, man, I'm ready. Yeah. Would you say you're
stoked, Ryan? I don't use that word often, but I will use it for this one. I am stoked. It is a
special occasion. I'm stoked, man. Yes. Dude, fucking Nintendo direct, baby. I can't wait. Okay,
okay, okay, wait. I got to introduce our other host here. And joining us, sure, sure. They might
have announced Kingdom Hearts Four, but his reaction of,
I can't believe what I'm watching was as honest as it gets, it's Ace.
All I'm going to say is we might have given the, you know, first prize ribbon to Xbox a little too soon.
Because, man, this showcase is something else.
Spoilers, Ace. Spoilers. Man. All right. Well, listen, welcome in to everybody. We're prepared.
I've got my link shirt on. Ace has his Kirby shirt on. Ryan's got Kirby in the background.
The Nintendo fandom is coming out in full force, so we hope you're ready.
Buckle up, people, because this episode is 100% dedicated to the Nintendo Direct and the awesomeness that they brought forth.
I mean, dude, state of play what?
Xbox games showcase what?
Summer games snorfest?
What?
Like, come on, man.
How do you compete?
How do you compete with this Nintendo Direct, guys?
I don't know.
How do you compete with the best?
They've been here since our childhoods.
We have so many games to talk about that we're just going to jump right in, guys,
because I don't know how we're going to get through all these.
You know, with the Sony state of play in the Xbox game showcase,
we kind of had to pick and choose, like, which games we thought were interesting or people might be interested in.
Guys, with this Nintendo Direct, like, everything was just a straight-finger.
Yeah, give me a hard job, bud.
Come on.
I know.
So it's kind of like, we're going to try to get through all this.
I don't know if it's going to happen, but we're going to do our best, man,
because we're here for the people.
Nintendo has been putting their best foot forward, and it's like it's the least we can do for people at this point.
Yep.
So you guys ready?
Oh, yeah.
Baby, let's go.
Are you ants?
I'm so ready.
You know, Nintendo is what everyone else don't, apparently.
Okay.
Oh, I like it, Ace.
Yeah, that's true.
Although they're probably going to send us a cease and desist for using their.
Oh, yeah.
Never mind now.
So, all right, let's start off.
Guys, who doesn't freaking love a rhythm game?
I love rhythm games.
Yeah, I love rhythm games.
Every time I bring up a rhythm game, it always goes real well.
Rhythm Heaven groove.
Now, this was the first game they showed off in this showcase.
And when you want to start, like, you know, an infamous Nintendo Direct, you always start off just showing a bangor.
You got to hook people, man.
you know, and what better way to hook people than showing off a brand new rhythm game called Rhythm Heaven groove?
This is releasing on July 2nd.
I mean, what a trailer for this, first of all.
You know, they, we always talk about showing gameplay, and they leaned right into the gameplay, man,
with the frogs hopping on the lily pads, and then like showing people like, hey, you have to push a button when the frog lands on the lily pad.
And how the beat changes mid-song, too.
too. Like you would never expect it. Just like, oh, I have to push it early now. I can't believe it.
Do you know the technology that goes into that ace to having to switch up like rhythms and beats, dude?
That is masterclass in rhythm.
I think we're also forgetting. They have some multiplayer games here too in case you want to bring some friends in on the action, man.
Okay. Who doesn't love multiplayer? That's a, I mean, Nintendo is so in touch with the people guys that they're like, okay, it's not just a rhythm game.
This is a rhythm game with friends
It's local home, but it is
It is a rhythm game with friends
Well, it's co-op
I didn't say it was online
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's fair
It is Nintendo, they don't really do online
They want the family together
Exactly, man
It's a company and a system for the people
Yeah, it really is
And one of the cool things that they really
showcased with Rhythm Heaven groove
Was the fact that there are over 80 games
80 games in this man
Who else gives you 80 games in a game?
Like most companies would give you like three or four mini games and call it done.
Not Nintendo, man.
They said, you know what?
Mario Party, what?
We're going to outdo ourselves with rhythm.
Rhythm heaven heaven heaven.
I can that's so hard to say.
It's rhythm heaven.
Rhythm heaven.
Rhythm heaven.
Say that 10 times fast.
Geez,
80 games, guys.
Yeah.
This to me is an absolute must buy day one.
I don't know about you guys, but like, I've got rhythm.
I've got soul.
You know, this is, this is.
This is calling D.
You got a switch to
Play them all.
When you've got
Rhythm Heaven groove.
I mean,
this is true.
Look, they've converted Ace
because we knew how excited Ace was for
Dead as Disco.
Why would I want to play a
beat them up rhythm game when I could
pluck hairs off an onion to
while pressing one button just at the right time?
I mean,
come on, man.
Or racing for a sandwich.
Oh,
there's a sandwich game?
Or I could take on a solo RPG quest
where I have to do combos of buttons
at the right time.
man, come on.
Okay.
There's a lot there.
B a.
B down A, man.
B down A. B down A.
B down A. B down A.
You got to do it with some rhythm.
Yeah.
You got to do with some rhythm.
There we go.
All right.
So rhythm heaven groove.
Come up to the Switch.
Coming soon.
Switch to July 2nd, man.
Yeah.
This is also how you do it.
Man, don't tease a game that's a year out.
Give us, it's less than a month away, boys.
So kudos to Nintendo once again for proving why they are the leaders in the
video game industry for,
for announcing a game and then releasing it a month later.
I hope they have capacity to handle all the orders too.
Yeah, you better up your servers for the downloads here.
Big time.
All right.
This one was huge.
If you watched any of the chat in any of these showcases that we have been covering,
there is one game that people were demanding.
What was that game, Ace?
That was the one and only Delta Run, Chapter 5.
people love
Delta Rune
We love Delta Rune on this show as well
Yeah
It's for those who don't know
It is a narrative turn-based RPG
Made by the creator of Undertale
Toby Fox
Delta Rune is huge
Every time a new chapter comes out
It takes over the internet for like a week
And then it does not stop
And then once they finish that new chapter
Then every showcase is filled with people asking
Where's Delta Rune chapter 6
Where's Tartorun chapter whatever
Rightfully so
too. Why would you not? Why would you want to wait, man? Like, of course you want more. Just give
them all to us. Like, okay, I have to be critical of Nintendo for a second, guys, because we want all the chapters for Delta Rune. Like, what is this with, like, releasing like a chapter at a time, man? Give us all the Delta Rune that we can handle. We can handle it. We promise. You can't handle that much, man. It's too much Delta Rune for you.
I remember, Josh, it's a solo developer. He hasn't got that much.
money even though Undertale was a massive
success, okay? Yeah.
Do we know how many chapters are there going to
be in Delta Run? Oh, I don't
think he's ever said how many. Hopefully 50,
if you ask me, because you can
never get enough Delta Run in your life,
man. So chapter five,
give it to me. It's the only turn-based game
that Ryan absolutely loves. It's his
favorite one. Oh, it's so good.
It's that one I like to
just boot up every time I'm
feeling sad or, you know,
need like a boost. I know I can
go and I can fall back on the Delta Rune and it's going to boost my spirits, bring me up.
And just another entry into that series is just going to, you know, it's just brighten me up
every day.
Brighten your day, man.
Yeah.
Unfortunately, it is going to end at chapter seven, though, guys.
It's only going to seven chapters.
Well, we're getting towards the end of the story, but it's only getting better and better, guys.
It's only going to get better from here.
Yeah, that's coming out June 24th.
So, I mean, just in a few short weeks, again, way to go Nintendo for getting a game out without
all like the six-month lead time.
and stuff like that.
All right.
This next one,
guys,
you know,
the restaurant's sim,
like genre
has been around for a while,
but nobody has innovated
on this genre
like this next game.
I mean,
if you're a fan of One Piece,
which Ace,
I know how much you love One Piece,
you know?
Yeah.
And I know how much
you were always talking
about having more innovation
in the video game industry.
And it's like,
look,
there's genres that exist,
but if you can,
can't innovate on these, don't just keep regurgitating the same mechanics and the same stuff
over and over again. Well, thank goodness we got a glimpse at One Piece Grand Gourmet.
Oh, yeah, my dream. One Piece is so heavily coordinated with food and it's part of the soul
of the anime series. Having a cooking sim for One Piece just makes sense. And now you get to run your
own restaurant on the sea with over 400 unique characters from the anime and manga that you could
run into in your restaurant.
You get to use devil fruit abilities to combine and make your own special recipes.
It's actually very, very cool.
Dude, cooking restaurant management, like, you can design your restaurant, which I thought
was an amazing touch, that they actually finally, they finally, somebody finally put the power
in the hands of the players to say, look, you guys have been asking for this.
We know the technology didn't really exist before, but we did this, man.
We did it for you, and they allowed you the ability to decorate your restaurant the way that you finally want to decorate it.
They gave us that ability.
I'll be honest, I'm just going to call it magic at this point because I don't know how they came up with this.
Cooking in the kitchen with Sanji is magic, all right?
Yeah, right?
It's absolutely magic.
That is every one piece fan's dream, as long as you don't hate Sanji, is cooking in the kitchen with Sondi.
I just don't even like, if I get a hanker into like cooking a video game, Dave, Dave, who?
Like, Dave the diver?
No, no, thank you.
I'm going to come here and play this game.
Exactly.
Because One Piece is your favorite anime, right, Ryan?
It surpasses all others.
I mean, I've watched it probably four or five times all the way through.
Yeah, exactly.
Who is your favorite character again?
I can't remember.
A Loofy.
Oh, there we go.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
But I just think, I think this one is, it's a game that's going to be, it's going to have that
continuation where you can just keep replaying it over and over and over.
You can keep jumping in.
It's not going to get boring.
it's not going to get old.
I think it was a great drop to have on Nintendo Day.
That's what we're going to call it.
Yeah, I'm excited.
Every day is Nintendo Day, man.
June 9th will forever live on as Nintendo Day from here on out, guys.
I mean, my goodness.
Yeah.
All right, we got it.
We got to move as much as I'd love to keep talking about this restaurant, Sim.
October 23rd.
October 23rd.
So, you know what, and again, kudos to Nintendo for being smart,
not releasing your games in September
because it's already filled up.
So I mean, dude, you know, praise
praise be to Nintendo once again.
I love this next one, guys.
Switch Sport Resort.
Who does?
I mean, one of the claims to fame of the Wii
and the Wii you,
I mean, and just Nintendo in general.
Like, let's be honest here, guys.
Their take on sports games are second to none.
You know, and it's like,
Nobody wants this madden garbage anymore where it's like, you know,
it's just rehashing the same old, same old year after year,
trying to just dig into my pocket.
And then thank goodness, along comes Nintendo with an actual understanding of gamers
and the sports that we want.
And, you know, they could have come out and said,
we're going to give you five different sports, guys, you know.
And that would have been great.
I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
But what did they do?
12.
12 sports.
Whoa.
12 sports guys.
And not only, look, not only the classics like bowling, like tennis, because who doesn't
love Mario tennis and wee bowling.
So they're so in touch with gamers that they absolutely know what we want.
But then we're always talking about innovation.
Guys, freaking thumb wrestling.
Thumb wrestling?
Nobody has done this.
Nobody has put thumb wrestling in their sports collection.
You ain't going to find that in your Madden's.
I'll tell you that.
No, not at all.
Bro.
The fact that they included thumb wrestling
is once again proof
that they understand
what people want to play
in their video games
and everybody else.
Shame on you Sony.
Shame on you Xbox.
Shame on you all you PC developers
for being chicken.
Nintendo ain't scared, man.
They're not scared.
They came out and they said
we're going to give the people
what they want.
We're going to give them thumb wrestling
and they gave it to us.
And oh my gosh,
Push the envelope, man.
That's what they do.
Josh, do you like jet skis?
I do like jet skis.
Well, you just happen to ride one in this game, baby.
Oh my gosh.
A jet ski?
No, but look, I need something to do with the Nintendo Switch.
Which is two's, you know, certified mouse mode?
Yes.
No, that's the skateboarding ace.
Is that only the skateboarding?
Oh, that's a skateboarding only?
Yeah, once again, okay, I know like Tony Hawks done it and stuff like that and there's
skate that's out right now, but nobody has
given you the ability to control a skateboard
with the mouse function on the
new Switch 2 joycons. Nobody.
Only Nintendo leading the way
in the gaming industry is doing this.
Every time. Just you also
like jump rope?
It's kind of exhausting.
It is. It is exhausting. But if you want
a good workout and you want to
play this game, you
can jump rope as well. If you ever
wanted to shoot a bow and arrow with absolutely
zero weight or any danger.
Now you can do that too.
That's all part of this package, man.
Next level.
I grew up in the days of like archery and high and like PE class and there,
let me tell you man, that's a dangerous sports.
Oh yes.
Looking out for people and trying to prevent injuries is,
just showing how much they care guys.
Yeah.
So you actually did, hold on,
you actually did archery and in PE and stuff back then?
This is, dude,
okay, so we had this conversation at my job the other day because like apparently
I thought everybody did archery and PE
and then they're like, no, this is because you're old, dude.
They don't do that anymore.
And I was like, yes, they do.
And then apparently they don't.
No, they don't bring weapons into the schools anymore.
One or two people get shot by a bow and arrow
and now nobody gets to do archery anymore in school.
I don't understand what's going on.
All right, we got to take a break soon,
but we're not doing it yet because this game
is one of the best games that I have seen.
Fire Emblem, Fortune's Weave.
Now, Ace, we got wind of this like a couple months ago,
because I remember talking about this on one of our Twig episodes
where when this game was first announced.
This is, I don't know how Nintendo pulled this off.
Is Fire Emblem a straight up just Nintendo IP?
It is a Nintendo IP.
That is their original IP.
That might be why.
Well, my goodness, once again, Nintendo,
you knocked it out of the frickin'n' park on this one, man.
Fire Emblem Fortune Weave truly looks incredible, man.
This is my kind of game.
Like, amazing graphics, good characters, great combat, turn-based combat with a lot of strategy
involved in this one.
I don't know like what more I can say about Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave other than I genuinely
think this game looks fantastic.
Yeah.
No, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave actually looks really, really, really freaking good.
It looks like next-gen-gen-gen Fire Emblem.
and I'm very, very excited to get my hands on it.
Having been the one who got to draft it for like five bucks.
You did.
This is the one you drafted.
That was the ultimate steal.
Yeah, I told you it would be.
I told you it would be.
It's the sleeper.
Ryan and I laughed at you.
Well, wait, here's the thing is like you could have, I mean, you could have sold me on old
fire emblem, but like next generation fire emblem, like this thing is, you know,
in its next gen, this next level.
I think it looks amazing.
I love everything about it.
The combat looks amazing.
The turn-based stuff looks so good.
I'm really angry.
Ace got it for a steal for like five bucks or whatever he bought it for.
This may, considering that all my games are probably going to get delayed till next year,
this will probably carry Ace pretty far in our draft.
Heck yeah, it will.
Ryan, I heard something that got to just verify because I agree,
but I just want to make sure that the people heard this correctly because this game is a switch.
2 exclusive, first of all.
So this is exclusive to the Switch 2, which, again, kudos Nintendo for that.
But did I hear you say that this looks so good that it's swaying you on turn-based
combat?
Oh, absolutely.
Yeah.
No, absolutely.
The way that, I mean, like you said, it's next generation.
It's something that I've never really seen before.
It looks so different and unique.
And the combat is something that is going to, it entices me, and it wants me.
It makes me want to do those battles and wants me to try to break down the strategy with this combat
and break down how I'm going to fight on this ostrich or do things like that.
So I'm pretty stoked.
I think it looks amazing and it may have won me over.
So and it may have, you know, I'm going to have to get a switch to if I want to play this game.
Is this the game that convinced you that you this is going to be one of those?
Like you're going to have to, you know, they got to come up with those bangers,
in which we've listed a bunch already,
but I mean, Nintendo Day
is going to sell a lot
of Switch 2s, and I think this is one of the
mainstays that's going to be a big reason for that.
Ryan's ready to just cast
his new Steam deck aside for this, man.
What a console cellar.
Who needs a Steam deck when you could go get a Switch 2
for double the price?
All right.
All right, listen, we got to take a quick break.
We have so many more games to talk about, guys.
We're going to have to pick this up a little bit
because we haven't even talked about, like,
some of these games that are coming to the Switch 2
All right, so we'll, listen, we're going to contain our excitement.
We will be right back after this quick break.

Z-I-V-A-S-H.
All right, guys, we're back.
We have to talk about Xenoblade Genesis.
We're going to have to speed this up a little bit
because we still have like 15 games to get through.
Like I said, what a freaking packed showcase, guys.
It's Nintendo Day.
It takes as long as it takes.
It does.
All right, you know what?
All right.
You know what?
Celebrate Nintendo Day, man.
Here you go.
But Zeno Blade Genesis,
you know, one of the things that we say around here,
if you're making a game and you can put forth
an incredible trailer, an incredible cinematic trailer that just reels people in with how good
your cinematics are, you don't need to show gameplay. Like, it doesn't matter at this point, right?
Especially when you have the tradition of a franchise like the Xenoblade franchise,
Xenoblade Genesis bursts onto the scene with this absolutely just masterfully made
cinematic trailer for ZenoBlade Genesis. It gives us all the information we need on the game.
coming out in 2027.
I don't know about you boys, but I'm in.
I mean, from what I saw, I am in.
Who needs gameplay?
Don't have to show gameplay when it looks this good.
Who needs gameplay when you could look at the freaking horizon
in the school and you could walk around the courtyard?
Dude, the animations?
Running in the grass.
Monolith Soft is good at one thing, and that's backgrounds for sure.
They make some beautiful environments for you to play around in.
ZenoBlake Genesis looks pretty dang good.
We live in Arizona.
We get some of the most gorgeous sunsets in the world.
Oh, yeah.
They don't compare to the trailer that we got for Zeno Blade Genesis on this, man.
Big time.
No, it's one of those.
You got to watch the trailer.
You see it.
You watch the trailer.
You know, like, you're going to get some hardcore, amazing cinematics.
And then everything else is irrelevant.
None of it matters because this looks so good that you know it's going to be good.
The nice thing with these, Ryan, is they're not turned.
But even though you've just turned the corner on turn-based games, Zeno Blade games are auto-battelers.
that you input moves in while they're just auto fights,
you don't have to do anything.
Even better,
I can just look around and watch the cinematics even more.
Yeah, exactly.
We just look at the surrounding.
You're telling me this game is so advanced
and so well developed that it plays itself is.
Exactly.
You don't even do anything.
You just get to look at how pretty the game is.
How does Nintendo do it, dude?
Another notch on Nintendo's belt right there.
I don't, bro.
I just.
Bravo.
Bravo.
Yep, yep.
Claps all around.
Love it.
All right.
Final Fantasy Resonance.
HD 2.5D.
What more Ds can we pack into talking about Final Fantasy Residence?
Comes out October 22nd.
Looks insane.
It looks really, really good.
It looks really freaking good.
Yeah.
Like, I know that, you know, people think that I'm a graphic snob, but I'm turning the
corner on this.
And listen, there's one thing that I'm really starting to fall in love with.
It is the two.
2.5D pixel graphics,
a la replaced,
beautiful game.
I mean, Final Fantasy Residence
honestly reminds me of that with just how
incredible this game presents itself.
And as a big fan of Final Fantasy
and everything they've done over the years,
this game is absolutely on my radar.
Yep.
I know these characters from the Final Fantasy
mobile game, Brave XVsvias,
they got shut down.
So seeing them in an actual Final Fantasy game,
fully voice acted and brought to life in this way,
kind of surreal kind of crazy it's fan service man
Nintendo understands what people want and they're like guys
we get it we're gamers we understand
this is for you we're going to honor you thank you Ryan
that's exactly what they're doing with this man
you know um you know never mind
the final fantasy is a huge franchise and it's probably
going to sell a million copies but I don't think that's what
they're worried about with this one I think what they're honestly worried
about is just satisfying gamers and giving gamers what they want
and Final Fantasy Residence is is absolutely
Absolutely that. Again, that comes out October 27th.
And that's why Nintendo got where they are today.
Like they're not about the money.
They're not about expanding their brand or or holding true to, you know, pricing or anything like that.
They're always just trying to give the gamer what the gamer needs and what the gamer wants.
And they're doing everything they can to provide for all of us.
And so that's what makes us so cool to see every time they, you know, drop these.
So I love it.
Yeah.
Nintendo has always been consumer first.
Ryan. We always knew that. We always knew they only care about the gamers.
Yeah. Yeah. Well, this next game proves it because
Splatoon Raiders got announced. So another world premiere
on Nintendo Day from the best Nintendo Direct that we have ever seen.
Splatoon, beloved franchise, took shooters to the next level.
And, you know, honestly, again, the genius of Nintendo shines through
because they made a shooter that is approachable by children and families
alike with Splatoon and everybody went, look, this is the peak evolution of the shooter
genre. You really can't go any higher when you make a game for everybody that is just,
you know, approachable by every single person in the world. And then they come out and they say,
you know what, let's make a single player version of Splatoon. I didn't, I, dude, that never even
crossed my mind, which just shows you the level that Nintendo is on right now. I thought this game
looked really good.
It's basically,
you know,
like kind of,
I don't know,
like an arena shooter.
Like,
it's almost like a rogue like,
but I don't know
that it's a rogue like,
but it's a,
you know,
how would you describe this?
It's almost like a timed
objective-based horde shooter,
which is an interesting way to take Splatoon,
which is usually a PVP,
you know,
sort of map,
I guess map coverage shooter,
where the whole point is just to cover
as much of the map with your color
versus the enemy color,
whoever has the most of the end wins.
But they took all the PVP out,
so they took all the PVP out.
So they took what made Splatoon initially what Splatoon was, and they took that out of it.
They made it fully single player PVE focused.
And now it's an objective-based horde shooter with a time limit for how long you could be in the levels.
Tons of gadgets and cool things like turrets, dude, that's something.
Someone in characters a long time.
The exploration bot.
Nele.
Yep, the exploration bot, yeah.
Yeah.
So Splatoon Raiders is releasing soon, guys, in July 23rd.
Arc Raiders, who's?
I mean, you know what?
Arc Raiders, right?
More like Spletoon Raiders.
Splatoon Raiders, the guys are right?
We did get an announcement for the Dusk Bloods.
This is the FromSoft game that is going to be exclusive to the Switch 2.
Still can't believe that's a thing.
I mean, there's really not much we can say about Dust Bloods.
It looks amazing.
It looks amazing.
It looks like Bloodborn 2.
Yeah, we're just going to move on.
Because if you don't know what Dusk Bloods is at this point,
then, you know, I mean...
Close playtest this summer.
Yeah, that's basically it.
For all, like for everybody, I'm sure.
I'm sure that this is going to be a playtest for the people because again, Nintendo is
for the people.
So I'm sure they're going to open it up to the world.
All right.
Now we get into the two gigantic.
The two gigantic announcements.
Yes.
And you know what?
Nintendo knows how to do this, dude.
You say it's not like the, you know, the games.
What's, I'm drawing a blank.
because I'm so geeked out over Nintendo right now,
the game show where they announced High Guard.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, the Game of the Year Awards.
Game of the Year Awards, right?
Like, so they come out and they, you know,
they thought they saved the best for last.
They announce High Guard and then, of course,
all that fell apart.
Nintendo, on the other hand, goes,
no, let us show you how to do it.
And we get the announcement for Kingdom Hearts 4.
I've been waiting so long.
I've been waiting so long.
This game was a.
revealed four years ago.
Was it really four years?
Four years?
Four, yeah, I guess, yeah, four.
You know, it was four years ago.
They first showed us this game.
And then finally, it was crickets.
Crickets, not a word about this game.
If it was still in development,
if it was going to be like seeing anything anytime soon.
And then here comes Nintendo.
At the end of all these grand showcases,
they brought out the best.
and they showed us some more Kingdom Hearts 4.
We got to look at the combat.
We got to look at some of the cutscenes, some of the characters.
I'm beyond hyped for this, man.
Dude, I'll be honest, just so people know, you know,
like, I've never played a Kingdom Hearts game.
I know that that's a travesty.
Ryan, have you ever played one?
No, never.
Okay, so Ace is the expert with King of Hart.
We were a little out of that age range, like, when they came out.
I think we were a little older.
We were playing, like, you know, other games at the time.
but I mean, I hear they're amazing.
They're very good.
Ace loves Kingdom Hearts so much.
He has a Kingdom Hearts tattoo.
I do.
If you're ever questioning like the fandom on this podcast, you know, for Nintendo or
Kingdom Hearts or any of that stuff, like the proof is literally on Ace's skin.
Yep.
And I would show you.
The world lost its mind over Kingdom Hearts 4.
I'll say this because I don't really know much about the franchise, but the power of
the Switch 2 is on full display here.
The graphics in this game are cutting edge, in my opinion.
I don't know that I've seen a game that Nintendo has released
that actually pushes the boundaries like Kingdom Hearts 4 does.
So kudos to Nintendo, kudos to the Switch 2, landing this on the Switch 2.
Now, this is going to be coming to other platforms.
This is not an exclusive, but Nintendo was the one that broke the news to the world.
So we didn't hear about this in any of the other showcases.
Nintendo was the one that said, give the people what they want.
everybody's been screaming for Kingdom Hearts 4
and I don't know how they pulled it off
but they did and we got the announcement for that
during the Nintendo Direct
which might have possibly
have blown every other showcase out of the water
at this point. Do you think
fingers crossed we see more of it at the Game of the Year awards.
Ace do you think Donald will still be O.P.?
I don't know in the trailer Donald looks like he's in hell
so I don't know. I couldn't say
he's surrounded by blue fire
if it were goofy.
Yeah.
All right.
And then,
okay,
guys,
this was the other,
you know,
the other showcases
had maybe one big
announcement,
maybe two.
Nintendo comes out
and says,
we're going to do
at least,
at least two.
I mean,
honestly,
all these games
were incredible,
but they come out.
We see the Zelda.
We see the tapestries.
We know the music.
And then,
you know,
here's the other thing,
dude.
Like,
people don't want,
like,
a new Zelda.
right that's uncomfortable for people you know like it's like i don't know what a new zelda would bring i want
the zelda that i'm comfortable with it's kind of like mario like nintendo's not making a new mario game
because that's like stressful for people man like you have to new you have to learn new controls you have
to learn learn new worlds i don't know if i'm going to like a new mario which that gives me anxiety
you know and so it's like nintendo like they're they're in touch man so they said listen
we know what you want you've been clamoring for it we're going to
going to give it to you.
Whether they wanted to do this or not, because I'm sure they want nothing more than to make
new Zelda games and new Mario games.
But that's not what the people are asking for.
They're asking for exactly what we got with the Okarina of Time remake.
Dude, it's real.
And they played the music and my brain just went on into like just pure bliss, dude.
I'm so excited for this man.
Listen.
If only,
I mean,
they have to keep us wanting more.
I understand Nintendo,
keeping us hungry,
only showing us just a quick little snippet.
There's a little snip.
It's just a little snippet.
Dude,
be grateful,
Ace.
I can't help it.
Look,
dude,
I'm calling you out right now.
If you can't be grateful
for what they gave us.
You don't deserve it.
Oh.
Yeah.
So I like,
I just wanted to see the great Deco tree.
This is because A's one in Majora's mask.
I just,
I did.
I did want to be grateful.
He did. He's good. He thinks that's the best Zelda. He's wrong, but he thinks it's the best Zelda.
Yeah. Yeah. So, all right. A's, I'm just going to ask you to just step back and contain yourself while Ryan and I gush about Okureen of Time remake, okay? Because this is what the people have wanted. We love remakes, right? We want the comfort and the familiarity of the games that we've already played. Yep. Right? Right? Yep. Absolutely. Yeah. What more do I want when I play a game for the last 20 years is,
to play it more. I'm so stoked. And you know what I'm ready to do more than anything?
I'm ready to kick some chickens. Yeah, buddy. No, no, no, Ryan, they have to remove that.
That's not politically correct. That's true. You can't do that anymore. Pita will come after you in a heartbeat.
Bro. The greatest news of the Okrean of Time remake, and again, we don't need to see gameplay
Nintendo. We trust you. We trust you. We trust you 100% on this. So they know they were like,
we're not going to waste our time showing you gameplay for this because everybody knows that
This game's going to be the most amazing thing that we've ever given to gamers.
And on top of that, they announced it's coming out in 2026, guys.
So thank you for the gift once again.
Game of the year, Nintendo, just nailing it.
I mean, no, every other game, just sit back.
GTA 6.
I'm sorry, dude.
I'm sorry.
You're cooked, G2.
You know what?
There's a new leader in town.
You never had a chance.
Never had a chance against all these releases.
Yeah.
So, O'Rean of Time remake is going to be fantastic.
and I can't wait for that.
It's going to be so good.
All right.
Now you might think that that's the end of this, but it's not.
Because not only did Nintendo show us some of these incredible games that are coming down the pipe,
but they also went, listen, we know how much you guys love some of these games that you
might not have gotten to play in the past because you supported Nintendo and we want to reward
you for your support.
So if you were the kind of person that you didn't have a PC, you didn't have a PlayStation,
you didn't have an Xbox, Nintendo finally said, you know what?
you have put in your penance
and we are going,
we see you and we're going to reward you.
And they are bringing so many ports
to the Switch 2.
I'm just going to go through this list, guys.
We got to do this quick, okay?
Because there's a lot of them.
There's a lot here.
They blessed us with quite a few games.
Dragons Dogma 2, Darker is one of the greatest games
we've ever seen come out in a video game.
The praise that Dragons Dogma 2 got,
it was cutting edge and Nintendo said we were bringing it to you.
You wanted it?
You're getting it.
We got a full breakdown of like the gameplay for Dragon's Dogma 2.
I mean, what more can you want?
Stellar Blade, Nintendo said, dude, you want amazing graphics?
You want jiggle physics?
We got you, people.
Stellar Blade to the masses?
Thank you.
Thank you, Nintendo for understanding.
Roomscape, the beloved game Roomscape, Dragon Wilds coming to the Switch 2.
Devil May Cry 5?
The Devil Hunter Edition?
Forget about it.
Forget about it.
So good.
Peak has entered the Switch, everyone.
Yep.
Yeah.
How about this?
Because they're bringing dust bullets.
So they knew that people were going to need, you know, an entry into the Soulslight games.
Lies of P.
Coming to the Switch 2.
I wouldn't start playing that in handheld mode.
Yeah.
Is this the new like everything's just going to release on the Switch 2 because it's the new console for Soulslikes now?
It runs them perfectly, man.
Clearly, if we're getting the Dustblods.
The only lie that's being told is anyone saying that they're not going to,
going to go buy a Switch 2 after this showcase.
Yeah, after a showcase like this, why wouldn't you go buy a Switch 2?
Yeah. Why would you not?
Yeah. I'll be honest. This next game might be one of the most cutting edge games I think
I've ever seen. It's this, it's a survival crafting game.
Oh, all right. That's a good story.
You know, it quite possibly might be the best survival crafting game in the world.
It's something called Minecraft. Oh, man. Never. Dude, sounds unique.
The art style on this, the things you can do in this game are honestly just pretty mind-blowing at this point.
in 2026 to have this kind of game available to people.
So Minecraft is coming to the to the switch two guys.
I don't, I don't, I'm kind of stunned to be honest.
I can't believe we're getting Minecraft Switch 2 edition.
I get.
Yeah.
I'm shocked.
Jeez.
I'm so lucky, dude.
I'm so lucky that I own a Switch 2 right now.
Man, you should go out and buy another one.
You guys are jealous, aren't you?
We are jealous.
I know you guys are.
I know we know.
This whole episode, I could just feel it oozing.
Something's felt a little off this episode.
episode.
Yeah.
You know,
and is it the jealousy?
It's anger and jealousy.
I'm just jealous that you've been playing
Pokopia this whole time and now you've got
DLC coming too.
Oh,
oh.
And,
dude,
it's not even $60.
I know.
It's only $35 for Pocopia, dude.
And it's a,
what did they call it?
I kind of like this new term.
It's like a DLC pass.
Yeah,
it's the expansion pass.
Yeah,
an expansion.
So I can buy a pass and then they'll just continue to give me content
sometime in the future.
It's like,
it's like Christmas.
comes just randomly over the next few years for me.
It's a mystery box of goodies for 35 bucks.
Nintendo, the gift that keeps on giving.
Honestly, it really is, dude.
And for such a fair, metaphor refentazio, dude,
all of the persona fans out there are just clamoring for this.
Again, Nintendo bringing it to the people.
And then look, because people like me that missed Kingdom Hearts,
they said we're going to give you Kingdom Hearts one through three.
Not anymore.
Oh, man.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then with ZenoBlade.
The Xenoblade, they said, Josh, we know you didn't play Xenoblade,
and we know that you're completely amped for Xenoblay Genesis after this cinematic trailer
that you just got to behold.
And so the Switch 2 ports of the Xenoblate Chronicles 1 through 3 are coming out too.
Very nice.
Xenoblay games actually really, really good guys.
You guys ever get that thing where you're just like?
You're just like two is one of my favorites, actually.
Your brain's just overloaded.
I think that's the appropriate response on this, Ryan.
That's what it feels like.
It's just there's just, there's two.
much to comprehend. There's too much to take in. It's just one after another after another. And it's
like, oh my gosh, come on. I feel the opposite way. I feel like a weight's been lifted because now I don't
have to care about any of the other games that have been shown off in any other showcase this week.
That's a good point. Because we've just got these to focus on now. That's a really good point.
I did. It's the system that does it all, man. The switch two has easily become the,
the de facto system that every person needs to have. So I have a surprise. I have a surprise.
for you guys. I didn't, I didn't, I say this for the end of the show for all the people that are
listening. But video gamers podcast is, is going to get you guys a Switch to. Because I know it's
not fair to anybody else. I mean, this, these games need to be experienced. We're playing
fire them and fortunes weave, Ryan. Okay. So I'm just saying, dude, oh my God. Because when,
when Nintendo is being so generous, I feel like we need to be generous. You know what I mean? And so, like,
like you know the whole point of the switch two is to be able to play games with your friends this is what
they advertise the system as nintendo showcasing their kindness bringing these games to the to the people
giving the gamers what they want you know and i feel like we like that's got to be something that
we we pay it forward so ryan ace switch two is all around boy everybody's going to have it
this is exactly how shigaramiamoto would have wanted it oh absolutely yeah and and one thing it's it's it's so
underrepresented, like,
and not a lot of people talk about it,
and a lot of people talked about it before
and making fun of it,
but like the C button,
from what I've heard,
like, being able to interact with the C button
has been such a huge benefit.
So I'm,
how important the Nintendo Switch 2's
exclusive mouse mode is to gaming, Ryan.
Oh, for sure.
They're showing it.
That's why they're giving us the sports resort ace.
It's why they're giving us the skateboarding.
People have been clamoring for this
for a long time.
And Nintendo, they're generous, they're kind, they're benevolent, some would say,
and that's why they're bringing all these to the people.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for this showcase.
Definitely go watch it yourself and see what we're talking about.
Absolutely. Go check it out.
Yeah, if you haven't watched this showcase, you are missing out on a true experience,
man.
Like no other experience we've seen lately.
Like I said, I know this is the last episode for our summer spectacular,
but we couldn't not bring you an episode and talk about.
this Nintendo Direct. I mean, I know that PlayStation is reeling. I know that Xbox is reeling.
Summer Games Fest. We're sorry. We're sorry, you know, that you talked about all these amazing
games that are coming out. They don't, they don't compare, guys. And I know that it's natural for
people to want to say, hey, look, let's compare things, right? We've have all these showcases lately,
and it's a natural reaction for people to go, hey, what did you think about the state of play
versus the Xbox game showcase? And Nintendo, like they always do, save
There's for last to end everything on an absolute banger.
Thank you Nintendo from the video gamers podcast from Ryan Ais and myself.
We've been singing your praises for a long time.
There's people that have called us out for that to say, look, you guys, you know,
your kind of Nintendo stands.
And we've been saying for a really long time, the proof is there.
Just open your eyes and take a look.
And Nintendo showed it.
Dude, I can't tell you how many times they showed everyone.
I keep reping Nintendo over and over.
and over and over, and people are like, no, Ryan, Nintendo's greedy.
They don't care about the consumers.
They just, they don't ever discount their games.
You can go buy a Zelda, you know, Breath of the Wild for the same price as, as the new one.
And it's like, that's like a few years old.
And they just, they're money hungry.
I'm just like, get out of here.
It's internet.
It's internet.
It's just jealous.
They don't know what they're talking about.
It's garbage.
Nintendo is Nintendo for a reason.
Nintendo shouldn't have to share their exclusives with everyone else.
You should just join us.
It's a much better way.
Join the party.
You will be happy.
If this direct doesn't prove that, I don't know what does.
You know what I mean?
Let the direct speak for itself.
If you buy into the internet noise about Nintendo being greedy and losing their way,
this direct should show you everything that you've ever wanted to see.
Yes.
Case closed.
That's all you knew.
I wish I had a gavel right now.
So yeah.
Someone says something?
Send him the link of the direct.
That's all you need to do.
Say, hey, here's Nintendo Day.
Let me know what you think after.
And then show me your pre-order your Switch 2.
Boom, done.
You know what you can buy?
A Switch 2 right now.
You know what you can't buy a Steam deck?
Yeah, that's true.
Checkmate Steam!
Checkmate Steam!
You can buy a Switch 2!
I can't buy a Steam deck right now.
Not only do they provide games for the consumers,
they provide the systems.
Easy, easy access.
No problem at all.
Yeah.
So I was going to,
to ask you guys to like rate the Nintendo
direct versus the state of play in the Xbox
showcase but dude we already
come on we already know we already know we already know we already know
who took the number one slot this week
come on oh what is that 11 out of 10 Bob
exactly yeah there you go yeah I think that's
there's a new category Ryan and it's yeah
you know like Ubisoft tried to do the quadruplea games
Nintendo 11 out of 10 there you go broke
the numerical system so all right well listen there you go
everybody, there's your Nintendo Direct.
That's all the games you needed to know about.
I don't know if you feel like us, but I am just bubbling over inside with excitement, joy,
thankfulness, to be honest, to Nintendo at this point.
So join us.

But, you know, of course it is because it's absolutely peak hardware as well.
So that's going to do it for this episode.
Praise beats the Nintendo.
Until next time, happy gaming.
I'm going to go ahead and get my Switch 2.
See ya.
Yeah, me too.
It's probably in the mail.
I just got to go get it.
Peace out.
