Starting point is 00:00:16 Ladies and gentlemen, family, friends, and esteemed gamers, welcome to the Video Gamers podcast. We gather here today to honor the memory of our fallen brothers and sisters, the beloved souls who touched our lives in countless ways. Today, we gather not to mourn the loss of our brethren, but to celebrate their lives and the impact they had on us. Some would say they died so that we may live, and today we will. honor their sacrifices. Before we commence with paying our respects, some introductions are in order. I am your host, Josh.
Starting point is 00:00:56 And joining me, he's never once cried at a video game, except when he lost his level 76 sorcerer in a hardcore Diablo 2 run. It's Ryan. It still chokes me up to this day. Those, those dolls, just, there's nothing like him, man.
Starting point is 00:01:16 it's okay Ryan it's okay man it's okay to let the pain out right thank you thank you yeah and joining us today to press F he's here to represent the life of every rat that's been slaughtered by the hands of those merciless and cruel adventurers it's ace I am a voice of many a voice of the abused they will not be forgotten wait who who won't be forgotten They have many names. We got to be solemn, guys. They have many names. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:53 A's like every single one of them. My brethren will not fall. Oh, they fall real easy. That's the problem. That's the problem. Oh, no. All right. There's a lesson of solemnness there.
Starting point is 00:02:07 You know, well, like, hey, I think we did pretty good guys. We got farther than I thought we were without breaking. I'll be honest. The serious intro? I want to say, I haven't thought about that sorcerer. and, or sussurice in a long time. Like, that was my sork baby, and she was on hardcore. And you just brought up some bad memories, man.
Starting point is 00:02:25 I thought you'd be impressed that I remember. I thought, and I'm wildly impressed, honestly. I'm impressed you remember that because I thought you were going the way of, like, his horse and red death redemption. I for sure thought you were going to go with, like, the horse or something else. But no, that's, uh, yeah, impressive. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:02:41 See, I listened to you, Ryan. And then you just insult me. So this is the relationship we have, you know? It's great, though. It's cool. It's a sign of love. Nice. Welcome in everybody to, I guess we shouldn't be laughing. This is a serious occasion. This is a solemn episode where we are going to honor the fall. Ace is worried about his hair. You know, Ace. You know, at least I have hair to worry about, you know.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Death to our represent. Is that what we're here for? We're mourning the loss of your hair. No. That's, oh. Look at this. Glorious. I see, jokes on you I like being bald, Ace. I don't know how you can be bald in Arizona and not have like a sunburn all the time. Your head gets used to the sun, man.
Starting point is 00:03:28 That is true, too. You wouldn't know that. No. Ace wouldn't know that at all. Oh, God. Oh, God. We're just ripping it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Death of friendship. That's what it is. Death to friendship. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. Well, guys, welcome in everybody. Listen, this is going to be a fun episode. This is going to be a dumb episode if you haven't already caught on to that. But, you know, this is what we love about video games is some of, you know, some of the characters that we come across in gaming are taken from us too soon.
Starting point is 00:04:02 And, you know, there are certain deaths in video games that hit us really, really hard. Some come out of left field and we do not expect them at all. And when they happen, we go like, oh, you know. And then there's other ones where it's like, you can kind of see it coming. then when it happens, it's still very emotional. And we thought, what better way to do an episode than to have a funeral for these characters? We're going to say, you know, a little bit about why they impacted us, why their death impacted us. And then, you know, maybe we'll say a few words on their behalf.
Starting point is 00:04:35 You know, give them a fitting eulogy that they deserve. And then we'll probably break for like snacks and treats and stuff like that afterwards, right? So, all right. So we're going to talk about some of the big time video game deaths out there. Now, we have to say this with a little bit of a spoiler warning because we can't, like, name every character that we're going to talk about because we name them. Guess what? There's a spoiler, right? And so we're going to try to do our best.
Starting point is 00:05:08 A lot of these games are older. If you don't know about this at this point, it's kind of on you. but there's one or two new-ish games where we will say, hey, this might be a spoiler for this game. And if you don't want to hear that, then maybe skip ahead a few minutes. You know, you don't need to skip the whole episode
Starting point is 00:05:25 because, you know, we want you to have fun with us. So don't skip the whole thing. But there you go. There's our official spoiler warning, and we'll try to warn you beforehand. So all right. Guys, we should start off with these poor, honored, revered video game characters that gave the ultimate sacrifice. Ryan, why don't you start
Starting point is 00:05:49 us off, Ryan? What's a video game death that hit you really hard? Well, in my youth, I played many a video game. One of my favorite and my favorite series of all time is Middle Gear Solid. and one of my favorite characters because he was the sickest, most dopest, amazing character I had ever seen for 11 or 12 year old Ryan was Gray Fox. Rest in peace, Grey Fox. Rest in peace, Grey Fox. So my pick is Metal Gear Solid One, Gray Fox. So what was it about Gray Fox, Ryan, that really left his impression on you so much? he was a super sweet
Starting point is 00:06:33 like cybernetic looking ninja oh heck yeah I mean I mean I mean sorry oh yeah oh yeah he died crap the dragon becomes you I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:06:46 how many cybernetic ninjas are there there's quite a few you know Ryan I feel I feel like it's only fitting that like maybe I say a couple words I that would you know honestly that would a lot to me, so I appreciate that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Let's bow our heads, guys. But I have to peek to read what I wrote about Gray Fox. Come on, somber, somber. Today we remember our fallen brother. Most knew him as Gray Fox, but I knew him as Frank Yeager.
Starting point is 00:07:21 Frank was a betting man, and I guess I shouldn't have bet that he could take out Metal Gear Rex. Also, he still owes me $50. What's that with inflation? Yeah, that's what, 1998? That's a lot of money.
Starting point is 00:07:37 I need my money, Frank. Frank, my money. Rest in peace, gray fox. Rest and peace, gray fox. Some of us knew you well. Some of us had to look up who you were. What? Dude, that's wild.
Starting point is 00:07:53 Oh, man. All right. All right, Ryan's just, this is what you get, Ryan. I got no sympathy for you. you at all. All right, let me, I'll tell you what, I'll go next. Let me introduce a character that everybody knows and everybody loves. And that is our boy, Jackie Wells. Oh. You would take it too soon, Jackie? Jackie. Jackie was my boy. We went on, we went a lot of adventures together. Some call it crime. We call it adventures. Okay. Night City's not a good place.
Starting point is 00:08:34 But you know what? The one thing I could always count on was that Jackie was right there, right there by my side. Stealing things from people, roughing up people, collecting money, getting in bar fights, pulling off heists for biochips that we probably shouldn't have been involved in. But you know, Jackie was a family man too. He wasn't just a thug. I mean, a friend. He was a family man. and he had really good, really good taste in motorcycles. And so today, I want to honor Jackie and the ultimate sacrifice that he made when we screwed up that heist. Ace, you want to say something nice about Jackie? Yeah. Jackie Wells, he was a guy who just wanted to make it, you know, to be somebody, leave his mark on the world.
Starting point is 00:09:26 And for a moment, it felt like he actually would. But in Night City, those dreams just don't. last that long. RIPP to Jackie Wells. Rip Jackie. Your funeral was a great part of the game, by the way. It was. It really.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Also, what did you guys donate to Jackie? Donate. Yeah, remember at the funeral? You have to pick the item that you want to like cherish his memory with. I don't even remember. I think it was like bottles of tequila, his gun and something else. I think I did the tequila. I did the tequila because why not?
Starting point is 00:10:03 What a good character number one. I know Jackie comes up a lot on this podcast. Yeah, he does. He was a fantastic freaking king. He was your boy, dude. He was ride or die, man. He pulls V out of the, like, worst part of his life or her life,
Starting point is 00:10:19 depending on what you, you know, choose. Yeah, that's fair. And then brings you back up from that moment to, you know, ride or die with him. It's a little beautiful life of crime, baby. Yeah. Also, the biggest meat, hook fist you've ever seen on a character too. And again, boxing coach ever.
Starting point is 00:10:35 And again, he's got a freaking sick bike. Dude, that motorcycle. That bike. That entire game, I got, I got the other cars, but his bike was like my number one go-to. Always the bike, dude. As a motorcycle enthusiast, I very much loved his motorcycle for sure. Yep. So, all right, Ace, who's who we here to honor for you?
Starting point is 00:10:56 Ladies, gentlemen, Josh and Ryan. Today we come here to honor the great man who was both father and husband, Ethan Winters. He was a man who refused to stay dead. He survived mold, monsters, things no normal person should ever have walked away from. But he did it to save his daughter
Starting point is 00:11:19 because that's all that mattered to him in the end. This man lost more limbs than any Lego character, but he still stayed together long enough to save his girl. Josh, I'm sure you have some nice things to say about the one and only Ethan Winners. I do, man. You know, Ethan and I, we go way back. We spend a lot of time together in this little village kind of off the coast of like France or something. Somewhere in Europe. Somewhere over there. Somewhere in Europe. He's pretty bad. But then, you know, I think he drugged me when he took me there too. So, so, but it was this quaint little village. Had some really nice architecture,
Starting point is 00:11:54 kind of weird people in there. But, um, you know, when it comes to Ethan, you know, everyone hears about like black mold being dangerous, you know, like they say, hey, watch out for black mold. But Ethan, he never took that seriously, man. Like, I really like the guy, but blowing up the megamycite thing, majigger thingy, whatever that thing was, may not have been his best decision. And I got to hand it to the guy. She was a black girl fellow. And, you know, I'm a little jealous that he got to meet, Lady Demetcher. There's worse ways to go out, I suppose.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Yeah. Damn. Man, I actually, I know a lot of people don't like Ethan. I know a lot of people don't like Ethan because he's not, you know, as, he's not as fine. He's not as charismatic as Leon. He's not Leon. I mean, that's dumb. He doesn't make the cheesy one liners.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Oh, no, he does. They're just not good. Ethan's one liners are like, he kills someone and then he's like, now you are as death as you were in life. disgusting. What? That's not bad. That's like all he's he's so... They're not like the cheesy 81 liners like you had with like Arnold and Sylvester Stallone and like stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:13:12 I mean, say what you want about Ethan Winners, but he is one hell of a father in gaming. I'll say that. Yeah, I mean, losing your kid, you know, that's like, what's the guy from heavy rain? What's the dad's name? His name is also Ethan. I was going to say, I think it's Ethan. Because I was like, those thought me off.
Starting point is 00:13:30 He had this to me. Is he a good dad or is he a bad dad? If you lose two of your kids, that might mean you're a bad dad, but if you're willing to go through what he went through, then you're a good dad again? I'll see if you, like, take drugs and, like,
Starting point is 00:13:46 hook up with a random lady in a hotel room. Yeah. Yeah. That was a wild experience with you of all, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. No, I mean, Ethan loses his wife first, goes and rescues his wife,
Starting point is 00:13:58 loses his kid next goes and rescues his kid and he just doesn't get lucky and gets to come back unfortunately so all right bummer Rip Ethan winners RIP we knew you for at least one resident evil we knew him for two Resident Evil's but that's okay we knew you for two Resident Evil and it was too too many
Starting point is 00:14:17 yeah because he was in Biohazard too he was the protagonist for BioHazard he's basically the Everyman insert for Resident Evil yeah the hand one was good Josh that was good Yeah, yeah, the hand thing was pretty funny. He loses that hand so often. All right, Ryan.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Who do you want to honor next, Ryan? I'm going to sit myself in the face. I'm going to honor a character that may have not always received the most respect, may have not always received the most love, but is known by many. I'm speaking of the penguin from Mario C. 64. This
Starting point is 00:15:02 Why is you laughing? I'm not, I'm sorry. This is very emotional for me. I'm shaking. The spirit's moving through me. This penguin has been thrown off many, many cliffs, but it will never be thrown away from my heart.
Starting point is 00:15:23 I miss you, penguin. Don't we all? Would one of you like to say something about the penguin? I would just like to say, I thought he could fly. I just snorted. I just snorted. Oh my God. I thought he could fly. Quit that chat. Oh, man. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:15:54 That was a guy pretty good. Everybody's throwing that stinking penguin all over his life. Everybody, dude. That's why the second you brought that up, I started cracking up because I remember doing that with when I was playing that with my wife. And then I just chucked that peggle. She was like, no! And I was like, he had to go, baby. I just needed to see if it was possible. He's the wrong one anyway.
Starting point is 00:16:15 It doesn't matter. If you bring him back to the mom, she's like, that's not my kid. And it was like, oh, well, bye then. Well, yeah. See you. Don't need this one. I mean, I mean, guys, we, all right, listen, we probably should take a moment of silence to compose ourselves. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:34 True. You know, Penguin really, you know, he was a friend of many. Yeah, his mom's pretty mad about that. So let's take a moment of silence for the penguin. All right. We're back from our little intermission for this funeral, you guys. We've honored many, many a character at this point, but we're not done yet. And I would like to remind everybody about the incredible life that this man lived.
Starting point is 00:17:07 He made quite possibly the toughest decision that a dad who's not a dad but was a dad at one point might have to make. And that's right. I'm talking about the guy that men want to be because he's a manly man. He's good with guns. He fixes things. And that's our boy, Joel, from The Last of Us. So sad. I'd like to say something if it's okay.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Yeah, Ryan. You knew Joel well, didn't you? I did. Part two. I wrote something here on real paper. Joel was never a perfect man, but he was a deeply human one, a survivor shaped by loss.
Starting point is 00:17:56 He found something worth fighting for again, even if it cost him everything. Joel's story reminds us that love can be messy. Choices can be heavy, and redemption doesn't always. come clean. But his impact on Ellie and on us will echo long after he's gone. I miss you, Joel. We all miss you, Joel.
Starting point is 00:18:25 You were really good at golf, Joel. I don't know. Did he play golf? What? He got murdered with a golf. Oh! Talk about a hole in one. You're killing me here. I think there were many holes. Oh, man. I miss the gullered. golf around. I thought you said he was playing
Starting point is 00:18:50 golf. I said he was really good at golf. Oh. He didn't quite understand it. He's just coming out a left field on this one, man. Listen, the way I deal with grief is humor. After my beautiful eulogy. I'll be honest. That was really good. That was excellent. On real
Starting point is 00:19:07 paper, too? Did you even? Right here, baby. Did you know I was a you, you, you, do you Googleizer? Also, is that is that 40 weight paper, Ryan? Did the podcast expenses approve? No, no, this is a, this is Garage Mac expense for sure. I'm still trying to figure out what are you, you, you get,
Starting point is 00:19:30 like that. Did you ever seen, uh, uh, what is it? Uh, oh my gosh, the stupid model movie with Ben Stiller. Oh, Zoolander. Yeah, Zoolander. Okay. Yeah. Cool. That makes sense. Okay. You Google or he just say, he says something like that.
Starting point is 00:19:47 All right, Ace. All right. Get us, get us back on track. Back on track. We're here, my friends, to talk about the one man who wished to join us in jolly cooperation in a world full of darkness and betrayal, the one and only Salair of Astora. A man chasing a sun in a world where it had long since gone dark. He believed in hope in his jolly cooperation. He searched for his son, his meaning, his purpose.
Starting point is 00:20:16 And even if he truly never found it, he gave that hope. to everyone else around him. But even the brightest light can be swallowed by the abyss. Still, we praise the sun. Praise the sun. Praise the sun. Ryan, I know that you and Salaer were really close.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Best friends, some would say. Do you want to say a word about this guy that you know so much about? Yo, this that sun guy? Is this sun dude? Is this sun dude? This is this the sun guy? Oh.
Starting point is 00:20:54 Actually, you just, you know what? You said such a touching tribute to Joel. Let me take this one, Ryan. All right, all right, all right, all right. Saler of Astora, the friendliest man in a world that punishes friendliness like it's a crime. He brought warmth, optimism, and jolly cooperation to places that really only deserve despair, which makes it all the more impressive that his grand plan ended. with letting a glowing bug eat his brain.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Yep. Turns out his heart was in the right place. His son just wasn't. Rest in peace, Salair. Why was he looking for the sun underground? Yeah, I was going to say, I didn't know if you guys knew what happened to Saler, technically. Yeah, yeah. Bug ate his brain.
Starting point is 00:21:40 Bug ate his brain. Drove him crazy. You could actually prevent that and kill them, and then he gets really depressed that he doesn't find his son, and he can bring him into the final boss fight. You got to let him have his happiness, Ace, even if it... I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Being able to summon him for the final boss fight is pretty cinematic. Yeah. But yeah. All right, peace of lair. We miss you, bro. There's been no kind NPCs since. No, he was the one and only
Starting point is 00:22:06 where it was like, this guy is not creepy and I think might try to murder me. Yeah, they've been kind NPCs, but they've been really weird. He was never weird. He was just normal. I mean, he was a little, weird.
Starting point is 00:22:19 He's just a dude in armor, though. It wasn't like... But he let a bug eat his brain. He did let a bug eat his brain. Yeah. Yeah. And then you have to kill him. You have to kill him yourself.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Yeah. Because he attacked. I took no joy in that. Just saying. Ryan, do you have another fallen brother you'd like, or sister that you'd like to honor? I do have a fallen brother. This one hits me hard. I spend many, many hours, many late nights.
Starting point is 00:22:49 many times when I should have been doing other things with this amazing, amazing person. Cade 6 was a friend on the tower. He lived like no one else could live and he joked like no one else could joke. He went out the way that he came into this world, guns ablazing. I'm going to miss you, man.
Starting point is 00:23:21 It's okay, Ryan. It's all right, man. Yeah. Yeah. Cade touched a lot. lot of people. He touched a lot of people. Some inappropriately.
Starting point is 00:23:29 He had, some inappropriately would probably be correct. He had a really badass gun. It was cool. I liked it. He did have a really cool gun. Do one of you have something to say? Cade 6 was like the Deadpool of the destiny world. He left his mark and he will never be forgotten.
Starting point is 00:23:47 That's so fitting. It is. He made everything feel lighter even when it wasn't. And we'll always miss him. and destiny will miss him dearly for the sales numbers. Yes. He is 100% to sell. Not a coincidence.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Selling point of that franchise. Right after. Pretty easy to track when that went downhill. I was going to also say the difference between K.6th and when ghost. Because what's his name? The short guy that used to go. Oh. The Game of Thrones.
Starting point is 00:24:25 voices Tyrion Lannister. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Peter Dinklage? Dinklage, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Once Dinklage left, like, that was the downfall. Anyways, continue on.
Starting point is 00:24:40 Didn't they re-dub the entire thing over him? Yeah. Yeah, I thought they did. Yeah, it was horrible. You know, we've really been honoring a lot of heroes. People that were taken before their time. people whose circumstances, you know, might have contributed to their demise. Some people would say that not all of them were innocent.
Starting point is 00:25:05 But this death really hurts, guys, because this character did nothing wrong. They were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And you know, there's few deaths in video gaming that hit, you quite as hard as experiencing the death of QD the elephant did and it takes two. You know, we try to think about their lives and not their deaths, but sometimes the death is just so horrific that that's the image that's burned in your brain. And when it comes to QDy the elephant, the vicious dismemberment of Qudy, the vicious attack on cutie's limbs.
Starting point is 00:25:58 The fact that two people, a husband and a wife, could do this to such an innocent, cute elephant, I mean, their name is cutie the elephant, man. Like, it's just, it's like a mirror being held up to the horrificness of this world. You know? And the fact that everybody just stood there and watched it happen. I'm sorry, cutie. I'm sorry for what they did to you. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:26:29 It's all right, Josh. Can you say something? I'll say some things about her. It's a good thing. This is a closed casket funeral for the first. That's always important. She trusted them. She truly was a good-hearted person who trusted them.
Starting point is 00:26:44 She was an elephant ace. She wasn't a person. Elephants are people. What do you put? She was a queen. Dang. Okay. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:26:57 Elephants don't have human rights. I forgot. Anyway, sentient elephants don't get to be you. Anyway, she trusted them, and they ripped her apart, stabbed her in the back like Judas, who's disgusting. But man, oh man, does it sell the only good thing about it takes two? Can we be serious? We don't do serious.
Starting point is 00:27:31 We're so bad at it. I keep trying out to laugh. Oh, my God. Okay. All right, guys. All right. That's a sad one. All right.
Starting point is 00:27:40 Settle. Settle down. Dumbo, her cousin, was very distraught. He was very distraught, but he couldn't speak. So it was, so. Dumpbo didn't even take the time to show up to this ceremony? Bricin selfish.
Starting point is 00:27:50 He lost his feather. He couldn't get on the plane. Couldn't get flight clearance. Good. Ace. I do need to preference this one before because I know some people in our community actively are playing. this game right now.
Starting point is 00:28:06 This is going to be for God of War Ragnarok. If you're playing God of War Ragnarok, skip. Like right now. This is very big spoiler. Just like three minutes. Yeah. Just three minutes ahead. We'll be done, you know, as long as I don't keep yapping about God of War Ragnar.
Starting point is 00:28:20 Anyway. Brock was the bluntest dwarf to ever live possibly. He had no filter, no patience and was no nonsense. But underneath all that, he was loyal. Real family man. He stood by Credos and Atreus when it mattered most, and when the truth came out, he paid the price for it. No grand speeches, no heroic send-offs,
Starting point is 00:28:46 just Brock being Brock to the very end. He saw things for what they were, and he wasn't afraid to call it out. And for that, he paid the ultimate price. R.I.P. Brock, we will miss you. And your soul didn't go anywhere, unfortunately. Ryan, do you have any nice things you'd like to say about Brock the dwarf? I do.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Let me grab something I wrote. On paper. On paper. As he is. As blue as he is right now for sure. Oh, Brock. You little bastard. Brock.
Starting point is 00:29:32 Brock was rough, loud, and unapologetically himself. But beneath it all, that grit was a heart of gold. A master craftsman who helped forge the weapons of gods. I'm sorry, hold on. It's okay. It's okay, Ryan. Take your time. Yet he never asked for anything in return. He spoke truth when others wouldn't.
Starting point is 00:30:02 Laughed in the face of danger and stood by his family until the very end. The forge burns a little brighter. I mean colder without him it's a little brighter because we put his body in it and he's gone a little colder without him
Starting point is 00:30:23 I miss you buddy RIP Brock Brock's death hit hard that hit so hard that came out of nowhere I love Brock dude I wish Sindry died for sure oh yeah dude there's a reason
Starting point is 00:30:39 they didn't kill off Sindry because everybody would have been like Cingry became vengeful and different Well, yeah, that guy went off the DJ. He did get a little crazy. He freaking killed another character in that story. Dude, freaking Brock is my boy, dude. Like, my boy.
Starting point is 00:30:55 What a good character. Dude, that's why the God of War games are so good. Do you have so many, like, great characters in those games? But, yeah, Ace and Brock, share a trait. No soul. There you go. No one will ever live down the things I say. All right.
Starting point is 00:31:17 You know, some deaths, you know, they say time heals all wounds. And so some deaths are a little bit newer, a little bit fresher. And so they sting a little bit more. Also, this is your spoiler warning if you're playing Expedition 33 or plan to play it. This is your spoiler warning. Everybody dies. Okay. she just wipes out like everybody of an age
Starting point is 00:31:49 but one but one death the patroness she didn't wipe out and he was brave and he was bold and he had that really cool arm that you could charge up in combat until he was taken from us in horrific sudden fashion
Starting point is 00:32:11 right at the end of act one in case you haven't made it that far yet. And that is our brother, Gustav. You have to wait your turn to cry. Gustav, we knew you for about two and a half hours of gameplay time. Maybe a little longer if you explored a lot. But, you know, you touched us all deeply. And not with that weird creepy hand.
Starting point is 00:32:45 We mean like with our hearts. and so Gustav, I just want to say Versa was so much cooler than you, but we still really appreciated who you were. Ace, I know since Ryan's an idiot, he probably can't say anything about Gustav. Do you want to say something nice? He won't say anything nice about our boy.
Starting point is 00:33:08 I will say, having we played the game, I think Gustav, you had my favorite play style for combat in the entire game. It never changed. I always miss Chargers. charging up that arm and launching a cannon into someone's face. You had some of the most quotable lines in the entire game. And you completely broke my hell mentally when you died.
Starting point is 00:33:31 And you would be proud to know that she never moved on. Don't worry. She's still ruined. And she never moved on from that point. But you'd also be happy to know that you were, oh, that was almost a spoiler. Never mind. I meant to get a hearing number five time I almost came like you
Starting point is 00:33:48 Spoiler We're only doing early game spoilers Oh my crap I almost gave it all the way Oh my gosh Okay Anyway It was about to be Ace's funeral
Starting point is 00:33:58 You should have painted a different picture dude No don't start me Oh my god All right Ace Do you have one last one I have one final one For none other Than Noctus Lusish Kalem
Starting point is 00:34:13 The Prince who never asked to be king, but carried that weight anyway. He lost his home, his father, his future, but he still kept moving forward. And in the end, he made the only choice he had left, to give his life so his world could live on. A lonely road, but not one he walked alone. He accepted what had to be done, and he didn't fight for just himself. He fought for everyone, everyone he loved, and his entire kingdom. Ryan, surely you have some nice things to say about Noctus
Starting point is 00:34:51 from your favorite franchise, Final Fantasy. I do have something to say about Loctus, and don't call me Shirley. Noctus was born a king, but he became something far greater. A friend, a brother, and a protector. His journey wasn't just about destiny. But about the bonds he built along the way, he laughed, struggled, and grew beside those he loved.
Starting point is 00:35:26 And in the end, he accepted the weight of the world so they wouldn't have to. A king not remembered for his crown, but for his sacrifice. I miss you, bud. You were my final fantasy. Oh. uh yeah uh you i know you i got josh without one at the you did get josh without which is you got me and then ais is like oh oh got me too where it was just like my brain was still really from ryan saying it and then ace's response was just like oh yeah you guys haven't played
Starting point is 00:36:13 final fantasy 15 yeah i i had the best eulogy for noctus what did i just say I, of course, he's my final fantasy. What are he talking about? Okay, well, I was just going to explain how he died and what happened, but, uh, hey, spoilers. Wait, wait, before you get to that, Ace, let me, let me read. You have a nice eulogy for Nazis. He was a king, so, you know, I feel like he deserves a little. I guess that's true.
Starting point is 00:36:36 He was a king of an entire kingdom. All right. Noctus, a man, I'm told, was very important. Something like a king, maybe. And definitely involved in a lot. of dramatic hair flips and emotional staring into the distance. He also had lots of zippers on his jacket. I didn't actually play Final Fantasy 15, but I do know there was a car and a road trip
Starting point is 00:37:02 and a bunch of dudes doing dude things, which I'm pretty sure had something to do with how he died. I still can't get over a car in a fantasy game, but I hear he died trying to do something nice for people, so good on him. Yeah. Those are kind words, Josh. I'm sure they would meet a lot to the Lucius Kalim family. Just don't tell them how to look this up, he's. I also had to look up what Noctus looks like.
Starting point is 00:37:32 Yeah, just spoiler for the end of Final Fantasy 15. We haven't played it already. At the end, Noctus goes into a crystal that goes dormant for nine years to gain the power he needs to beat the final boss. He kills him in the real world. Then the spirits of all the ghosts from the different. kingdom pass, different kings all killed Noctus and sent him into the astral realm where he has to kill him in the astral realm and then Noctus and his dead girlfriend get to go live happily ever after in heaven. So, but he leaves his friends behind saving the world. So it's nice.
Starting point is 00:38:05 In a car. Yeah, the car was a big part of it. Yeah, in a car. In a fantasy game. They have to push that car up the road like an hour into the game. Just kind of weird. That's all I'm saying. It's final fantasy. It's always been steampunk and fantasy. But then they never had a car before. I don't know. There might have been a car in Final Fantasy 7. You could also still ride chocobos. They had chocobos.
Starting point is 00:38:27 You could still ride chocobos. That's that bird thing, right? That's the bird thing. All right. I think that's enough funeral. The funeral home is... Did Dutch put this up to you up to this? Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:38:38 I died. What the heck? Uh-oh. People say enough nice things about you. You guys hear that? It's like a voice from beyond. I watched the sunset. You get edits to that song Dragpath that I,
Starting point is 00:38:50 I can't escape. You know, yeah. Also, poor Arthur. Everybody knows you, Arthur. Everyone knows Arthur Morgan and everyone knows. I don't know. He was a good man. You're good man, Arthur.
Starting point is 00:39:02 The funeral director signaling us that we are out of time. Oh, geez. We're grieving here. What do you mean? There's a live show starting. No, no, we're not paying extra. Okay, all right. So listen, everybody, we hope you enjoyed this episode.
