fellow gamers and welcome to the video gamers podcast.
Today we're stepping back into the shadows
with the newest horror experience from the minds of Little Nightmares and Little
Nightmares too. But this time it's darker, meaner,
and built around co-op. That's right, we're diving into Reanimal,
a game about two siblings trapped on a twisted island full of grotesque creatures,
warped environments, and a story told more through atmosphere and exposition than actual
lore. I am your host, Ace. And joining me is the man who only had to retry the same stealth section
six times. It's Josh. Wow, you're being so kind to me, Ace. That's only six. We had to do a lot more.
Oh, I know. I know, buddy. I really wish this game had a death counter so that, like, Ryan and I's
play through, we could compare it to like you and shows play through to see, because I, I would bet money that
Ryan and I died way more times than the average.
What do you got to love me in there?
What?
I only died because of you.
Oh, you only died because you jumped off the ledge and took me with you and then cackled about it for two minutes.
That was one time.
That was one time.
And joining us is the guy who I know scares pretty easily.
So I can't wait to see how he felt when mutated farm animals started chasing him around in the dark.
Yeah, it's Ryan.
I tell you what, we'll get into this, but, you know, they never grow up the way you expect.
You know.
Guys, it's finally time.
We've waited for this moment.
We are talking about Rianimal.
I cannot believe it's finally here.
It's, it's, it's, it, well, it came and it went because we beat the game already, man.
Like, yeah, we'll talk about that for sure.
But I think first, we got to talk about the.
launch. This game had a bad launch on PC.
Uh-oh.
I didn't get a little salty, didn't I?
Did I get, I'm just going to admit it.
I got a little salty on this one.
And I made my saltiness known to the world.
Oh, you did.
Okay.
And the developers and Twitter.
And our Twitter.
One of my, one of my pet peeves in my many, many list of pet peeves as I get older in life is when you do something, Ryan's crack it up because he's like,
Yes, so true.
It's so true.
It is because he says one of my pet peeves, but he says one of my pet peeves so many times.
It says a lot.
Yeah.
There's a lot of.
Every year of life, you get to add a new pet peeve.
This is like a, this is everybody knows this.
Okay.
Yeah.
So one of my many, many, many, many pet peeves now.
Pet peeves.
Yep, yep.
Is when a developer releases a game with something absolutely broken and stupid.
I reference Calisto Protocol
because that game released to much hype
completely broken and unplayable
due to stuttering and something that was going on with the game.
Is that the let me play the game?
No, that was for Spoken,
which was also a stupid design decision
with the cutscenes and not being able to move at all.
Yeah.
But it's like, you know,
there's a part of me that goes,
you shouldn't release your game
if it is broken or missing something
very important, right?
Like, that's when you fix it
and get the good first impression.
And when Reanimal released,
this game, it was promised
way ahead of time.
This wasn't a sudden thing,
but it was promised way ahead of time
that the game would release
with a Friends Pass.
So only one person needed to buy the game
and then the other person
could download the Friends Pass
and play with you.
And I love this.
I think it's a fantastic thing to do.
And the game released,
and guess what?
It had Friends Pass on PlayStation
and X-E.
box and it did not have Friends Pass on PC. And they kind of just went, uh, yeah, sorry,
we couldn't get Friends Pass on PC working guys. We'll work on it and we'll have that to you soon.
And it was like, what the heck, man? Like, what? I'm not like, what? And I got really irked by this,
man, because it's like, Ryan and I were super hyped to play. We had scheduled time to like play this
together. And then it was like, well, okay, what are we going to do? Either we got a shell out. This is a
$40 price tag on this game.
So either we got to shout out another $40 to play this,
or we have to just wait.
And what is the worst thing as a gamer in the world
is waiting to play a game on release day,
whether you're at work or chores or whatever.
They're impatient.
And I was like, bro, I don't want to wait to play this until they,
like, what if it's a week before they get the Friends Pass?
Now, I will say that thankfully,
T.HQ Nordic, their publisher,
came out and even though
Tarshier said, yeah, hey, we'll have the
Friends Pass at some point, guys. Sorry about that.
T.HQ came out and said,
no, the Friends Pass will be available
ASAP later today
for sure. And that's when I kind of
went, yep. Okay. Okay.
Well, this is better. I can wait until this
afternoon to play it if we want to.
But guess what
happened in that first hour of
launch?
Massive review bombing.
They got review bomb.
Massive.
I will say, look, I was upset and I was perturbed, but I did not review bomb the game because I knew that they were going to fix it.
You know, but I did make money.
But if you didn't know that they were going to fix it, if you had no idea and you just assumed they were sending that pass, you'd be ticked, which is the majority of people.
They're not as well informed on what the goings of games are as we are.
Yeah, that's fair.
So to them, they bought a $40 game to play with their friend over the weekend, and now they can't.
Yep.
And then at launch, yeah, you don't have the availability to play.
I mean, like, this was their first post.
Available on PS5 and Switch 2, use as GameShare today.
On PC and Xbox, you will need to wait a bit longer.
Unfortunately, we will let you know as soon as it's released.
And then a little bit later, they said, we're working on it.
We definitely wanted it day one, but it just didn't work out as we hoped.
We're sorry for that.
Yeah, no.
Yeah, that's not good enough.
No.
That's not good enough.
And then for Tarshire to come in and be like, no, no, no, no, it's going to happen.
And then within a few hours, we have it?
Like, that to me, that is the issue is that they said, we're not sure.
We don't know.
We'll see when it comes around.
And then within a couple hours, you know, or a few hours, all of a sudden, bam, you know, big brother comes in and says, no, no, it's good.
And then it happened.
Good on T.
Good on T.
Nordeck for saving this game, frankly.
Yeah, yeah.
I don't know what it takes for a publisher to be like.
We're stepping in.
We're stepping in here and this is happening because we're getting review bombed right now.
Probably when your brand new game goes mostly negative in like two hours on stone.
And it did, dude.
That's when they step in.
And I don't.
I mean,
we're not fans of review bombing,
but in this case,
and I think you hit the nail on the head.
Not everybody is going to go and look up information and try to find out.
They're just going to go,
what the heck?
Like,
I thought I was going to have this and now I don't and I feel like I got robbed.
So the game did not get off to a great start.
A lot of review bombing is not based on like,
like real true things of the game.
A lot of times it's,
it's something else or political or whatever it may be.
This was like genuinely like,
hey,
you,
you said this would be a feature on this game.
It's a two-player co-op game.
This is meant to be played this way.
It's like a multiplayer,
like having a release and then being like,
oh yeah,
we're working on the multiplayer.
Like you couldn't enjoy the campaign while we get this set up.
That's not,
That's not good.
That is not a good way to release your game.
And the fact that they were able to unlock that feature just a few hours later,
why wasn't it,
why wasn't it ready at launch?
That's generally a really bad look.
Yeah, a few hours.
That's what's crazy.
There should have been no reason if it only took a few hours to get it dialed in.
We were,
I'll say this,
we legitimately because we thought like it might be a week before they get the
Oh, Josh was mad.
Josh was mad.
I mean, I did know, are we going to just,
skip this? Like, are we going to just, we're just about to
get into eugenics, you know?
This deep dive. I was going to cancel this deep dive.
Like, this wasn't going to happen. Yeah.
This was just going to be news. We were going to move on and pretend like
random old didn't release, which sucks because I drafted it.
Yeah. Yeah. I, you know, this is a message to developers. And I understand that
with, especially with publishers that you have deadlines and you have things. But, man,
we say this time and time and time again. Trust us. You cannot risk
releasing your game to bad press and bad reviews.
You need to just go.
You know what's not going to happen?
People are not going to review bomb a game because you said, hey, we have to release
tomorrow.
We found an issue.
We need to fix.
We're really, really sorry.
We understand it sucks, but the game will be out tomorrow, right?
And then you release your game complete and ready to rock and roll.
And people might grumble about it, but they're not going to review bomb you when they can
hop in and play your game the right way right off the bat.
when you do something like this,
it just gets off to a really,
really rocky start.
Like, thankfully they were able to fix it
the same day, which completely turned things
around for us.
And then Ryan and I were like,
we're back, baby, we're playing tonight.
Good on them.
I'm glad they got it fixed.
All right.
What is Rianimal guys?
What would you describe Rianimal as?
Ryan?
You're going to ask us that?
I know what Rianimal is.
I want to know what you took away from just like looking at it. I'll leave the easy question for you.
Take your, take your brain. Open it up. Open up your skull and then mush it all around in a big circle and then close your school back up. And then that's reanimal. It is it is it is a nonsensical chaos the entire way through. I don't know what the heck was going on the whole time. But I tell you what, I liked it. Yeah. Yeah. I. That's pretty good.
For people that don't know and are completely unfamiliar with Little Nightmares, basically
R-Animal is the spiritual successor to Little Nightmares.
It's from the developers that created Little Nightmares 1 and 2, but not Little Nightmares
Three.
They went their own way and then they created Reanimal.
It is a two-player co-op game where you are children in this nightmarish world that you
are just trying to get through.
Like, that's really the easiest way to put it is you're trying to just survive.
Yeah, you're trying to live.
and get through this world.
Like a lot of times,
I don't even know where we're going.
We're just going from point A to point B for some reason.
Some reason.
And all I know is I like it because point A to point B is freaking weird, man.
And crazy things happen.
This is one of the most atmospheric games that I have played in a really long time, dude.
You're dodging these horrific creatures in little nightmares.
It's the same thing.
You're avoiding these.
horrific, like, I don't even know how you describe them, man.
Just creatures and things that move weird.
And your brain just kind of goes like, bro, that doesn't look right.
That's weird.
And it freaks you out.
It is a horror adjacent game because there's not gore or anything in this,
but it is scary and creepy and weird, dude.
But in like the best way possible.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's weird in the ways that make you think.
Oh, wow, that's unique.
I'm scared.
Like, Little Nightmares is a good, is a good name because this game is basically like playing
through somebody's really, really weird nightmare, dude.
Like, that's honestly pretty spot on because it's like, it's unlike anything you've seen
before.
It plays that way.
And it's like, you're living a nightmare.
Like, it's literally just.
And it changes sometimes like dreams do where it just goes from one crazy nightmare to like
a completely different crazy nightmare.
And then you're like, how'd we get here?
But that's what the game is.
Hold on.
I'm going to hijack this real quick.
Guys, guess what dream I had last night?
I was in a group of people and I was talking about making building a computer and
like thermal paste with processors.
And Henry Cavill walked by and he overheard me.
And then we became best friends and we built computers.
I'm not even kidding.
This is my dream.
This is a dream.
What is that to do with nightmare?
It doesn't have to do with nightmares.
But you guys said dreams.
And I remember this.
This happened like two nights ago.
That's a pretty good dream.
I was pretty stoked.
I just had this.
You heard it here first people.
Ryan dreams about Henry Cavill at night.
Basically me and Henry Cavill are like super besties.
So, you know, hit me up.
I may be able to get you in, but probably not.
I think something I really appreciate about reanimal and little nightmares,
just like the franchise in general, these characters, they know where they're going.
You have no idea where they're trying to get to,
but you're just along for the ride.
I beat the game and I still don't know where they're going.
come on that's my thing you don't understand why they're going where they're going but they clearly
have i commented that ryan literally we finished it last night and i told ryan i said these kids know
where they're going like and i even said like we would be so lost in this world but it's like
they're just constantly like oh yeah follow us we know where we're going and i'm like do you
because i sure don't know where we're going and i'm controlling you at this point
yeah these these kids are uh something else
which we're going to get right too after this quick break.
All right, guys, we are back still talking about Reanel.
I want to talk a little bit about the monsters in this game
and how unique and unsettling they are.
Which monster got you the worst?
Just like right off the bat.
The big pig, dude.
Let's let's let's, okay, so let's preface this.
We are going to talk about some spoilers, right?
Like we're not going to ruin maybe the very last part of the game.
I will warn.
I will warn.
Yeah, we'll warn about, because we got to talk about the very last part.
Just get off.
Just get off, come back.
We don't want to hear spoiler complaints.
You know, if you want to know, like, if you don't want anything,
you shouldn't be listening to this episode until you beat the game, honestly.
So there will be spoilers.
We will warn you about any major spoilers.
But for me, the, I don't know why, dude.
Giant pigs just weird to me, dude.
It was the old man's snake skins for me.
The skins.
Yeah.
Oh, like slither in a cross.
like, oh, get away.
And they corner you and you have to like jump,
you have to lead them away and jump past them and like turn back.
And it's like, oh, get away.
No, don't touch me.
Me was when we were like near the end with the, the,
the moth guy.
Like that was like fuzzy.
Yeah, it was like, it was like a like a dirt moth,
dirt mite type thing.
It was like a,
it was like a dune sandworm mixed with a moth.
Yeah, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Like, like the open mouth thing.
Yeah, the big mouth.
Like, I'm like, that's just weird, dude.
Get away.
I know what mine is.
Okay.
This is a little bit of a spoiler.
It's a little farther in.
This is your warning.
When you dive underwater and you have to go collect that eye from that monster, you shot with the tank rifle.
Yeah.
That was the one.
Yeah.
Like you, like the flashes of light from your friend.
Huh?
That was the weird seagull thing.
Yeah, that thing is freaky.
Yeah, that thing was freaky, dude.
Yeah, he's like, give me back my eye.
Josh and I were like,
bro like i was holding the eye and show was holding the flare and every now and then i just get a
flash of that thing's face behind me i was like oh oh run faster show run faster
this game is crazy how would you describe the gameplay of this game though josh like what is the game
what is the game yeah i mean it's it's weird because it is basically just going from point a to point
be sometimes there's an obstacle in your way that you have to overcome sometimes there's a minimal
puzzle that you have to figure out something like that but the goal is like hey this you know we have to
take this train car down the tracks but we have to put wheels on it so we have to go in we have to
explore and find the wheels to put on there now we can you know ride the train car or there's a locked
door so we have to go find the key um or hey this door is chained so we have to go find like bolt
cutters to be able to get through this door so a lot of times it's just make it to
an area, figure out how to proceed from that area to the next area. And that sounds very simple.
But my goodness, dude, when it is presented to you the way that reanimal presents these levels
and these like challenges to you. And it should be said that every single level has some horrific
creature in it that is actively trying to eat you. I said this to Ryan. I said, bro, why does everything
in this game want to eat us.
It's not like they're not just killing us.
They are eating you.
Every single thing eats you.
And I'm like, this sucks.
This is terrifying.
Like, I don't want to get eaten by this horrible, horrible monster.
But that's what this game is.
So you're dodging the creature.
You're using stealth sometimes or distraction sometimes.
You're going from point A to point B.
And it sounds very, very simple.
But I'm telling you when you are experiencing this
with this atmosphere, with this terror that this creature is stalking you,
it's crazy fun, dude.
It is.
It's a good time.
You've got the environmental puzzles.
You've got the stealth and the chase sequences.
But you also have a little bit of combat, which was cool.
Yeah, this was unique to be able to fight back.
Yep.
Kill the seagles.
Yeah.
Kill the seagles.
Yeah. Kill the seagles.
Oh, my gosh.
I always like shank them.
I was swinging that darn crowbar.
for my life and I think I hit show like three times.
On that point real quick, Ace, there was a point where I'll leave it at this.
There was a vehicle, I'll call it, where I went, I went, and I was literally talking to Ryan.
I said, bro, I want to drive this vehicle, man.
I want to drive this.
And then lo and behold, it was like they were right there listening because next thing,
you know, we're in this vehicle and Ryan and I are like, no way, man.
like let's go.
And then it was perfection because both of our gamer brains went,
dude,
I wish we could hop in this thing.
And then the game was like,
all right,
well hop on in,
buddy,
because here we go.
We were both like,
no way.
It was perfect,
dude.
Yeah,
it was great.
I was super hyped to do that,
especially the little fight that takes place in the back of
there where you're just like,
get out.
Get out.
Oh,
I'm talking about the other vehicle,
Ace,
the one that's,
oh,
I know a vehicle.
Yeah,
that's way later.
the game.
Yeah, that part's pretty good too.
I like that as well.
Something about reanimal just
works. Like, I thought adding combat
to it would take away a lot of the scare factor.
It did not. It added to it
a lot to me because you're able to fight back,
but it was very minimal.
There was only one puzzle in this game I didn't
like. Oh, really? Which one? And
it was the one where you're tied together and you have
to walk across the crumbling rocks. We love that
because that's where Ryan and I killed each
other 30 times. Yeah, we did.
We definitely killed each other on purpose, but, but we also got through it like the third time, like when we're like, all right, be serious.
And then we did.
Me and show got stuck there for like 20 minutes.
It was terrible.
We really figured out what we were doing wrong.
We were doing it.
We couldn't figure out what we were doing wrong.
We'd be like, okay, jump.
And then we wouldn't move.
And the other one to go, uh, uh, yeah.
And then fall down.
Something we like to try to hit on with games is the narrative, but God help me.
I couldn't follow the narrative for.
animal to save my life.
Best I can see, you start as a narrative.
Yeah, yeah.
You start as the boy and the girl in the boat and you start gathering your different friends
from the different monsters and you end up in the final area where,
spoilers, she vomits out a lamb that grows to be massive.
It's a baby.
Yeah, it's not a baby.
Yeah.
I hate that lamb.
That lamb is terrifying.
Yeah, I mean, having beaten the game literally last night, I have no clue what the
narrative of the story is other than...
It's like trying to make sense of a dream, though.
Like, that's honestly, like, it's one...
I'll keep using that, like, dream reference because it's like,
they don't make sense and yet you live them.
And yet they don't make sense.
You can't really explain it to somebody, but when you experience it,
it makes sense, right?
And, like, reanimal is like that.
Like, it's, you can't explain it to somebody else.
But if you play the game, you walk away from the game kind of going like,
okay, well, yeah, I mean, we did what we did.
Which was a lot of fun.
and it was cool and it was weird,
but I don't know how to explain that to somebody else.
We sure did make it from there to here.
Yeah, we did that.
We sure did that.
And dude,
here's the crazy part.
I know there's people that are going,
well,
this game doesn't make any sense to me.
You guys aren't describing it very well.
Like,
why should I want to play it?
You know,
if you can't tell me what the story is
and the gameplay is just go from point A to point B,
that doesn't sound very good.
But it's like,
bro, you're so wrong if you're thinking that.
It's so, it's just indescribable what the experience is that you just kind of have to have it for yourself.
And I think that's the key.
Experience.
This game is an experience to, to play.
Experience and journey.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like the journey to, yeah, honestly.
Journey.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You, you, you, you, you, you hop in this world and you don't know what's going on.
Even though, like, I, I am not a big one of the little nightmares.
I haven't played them.
um so getting into this world and then hopping in with josh and then playing what we did it it was
i don't know it was it was it was a journey like every time i was like oh my god where were we
going oh what is this oh is and then when we had to hop off it was such a letdown because i wanted
to keep going yeah and that's like what what is not desired from a game like that like that that's
what you want in the game for you to keep going over and over and over especially a game like
this with an incredibly short runtime, which is what we have to talk about next.
This is where Rianimal was a struggle to be justified for a lot of people.
As we said, Rianimal is $40.
However, Rianimal is roughly a three to six hour game.
So Ryan and I trolled each other a lot.
We died a lot.
this was definitely not us trying to
be all professional and speed run this game
this was friends killing each other repeatedly
there's there were sometimes we were just straight up stupid
and like we were in the right room
and we couldn't find the key
and we back all the way back to the beginning of the level
where we're like bro where's this stupid key?
Josh it's got to be back of that room
I'm like there's no way it's back here
and he's like well maybe if this
I'm like you're thinking way too much dude
let's go back to the room
and then we finally found the key like laying in some
dust that we both just missed it eight times.
So that's just to say that we, you know, we took our time with this game.
My playtime on this is 5.4 hours.
So that's how long this game is for a normal playthrough if you're goofing around a little
bit.
And honestly, we were checking some corners and we didn't try to 100% it, but we were looking
for like the little masks like that you can wear and stuff like that.
Yeah.
But here's the thing.
Like you got five point, well, five hours or whatever.
So did Ryan.
Yep.
So you kind of got 10 hours a gameplay.
Yeah.
The way I look at this is it's a $20 game.
You just have to split the cost with somebody.
Yes.
I think that's kind of the best way to look at it because it is an experience worth having
if you can justify that $40 price tag and you have someone you can play with.
Yeah.
This game.
I didn't play this single player at all.
I don't know how this play single player.
It's just a computer controlled character.
But this is a game.
You're not going to get the same experience.
Like honestly, like playing with Ryan and us too just.
goofing off.
Like, but the terror, this game's freaky, dude.
It's scary, man.
Like, there are parts that it's like,
legitimately scary.
And then I start freaking out.
Ryan starts freaking out.
So now we're just freaking out together.
And we're just,
I can't tell you how many times we both went,
you know,
and then we're both just panic running.
And then like,
one of us runs into a wall and dies.
And then, like, it, dude, the,
I cannot stress this enough.
The atmosphere in Reanimal is second to none, dude.
Like, I've played Little Nightmares 1 and 2.
Reanimal blows them out of the water, dude, in my opinion.
Like, I liked Little Nightmares 1 and 2.
Like, I was like, okay, they're fine.
Reanimal was such a massive step up for what these games were or are.
I don't even put them on the same level, dude.
That last area especially.
Oh, my gosh.
I mean, we're getting close to the end of the episode.
Can we talk about spoilers in this last level?
Go ahead.
Let's talk about it.
Spoiler.
Before we get into ratings, let's go to some spoilers.
Okay.
Here we go.
I only want to spoil this one thing, to be honest with you.
So because this is one of those moments that will stick with you for a long time, people, a long time.
So here's your final spoiler warning.
Dude, the last part of the game, the end of the game where, okay, I'm going to spoil this.
So you're in a tank.
You're in a freaking tank.
This is the vehicle.
talking about that we were like yes they give us a tank the tank baby i am driving the tank
ryan is the gunner the freaking lamb thing has evolved into lamb zilla is what i was calling it because it's
this massive thing and it starts chasing us and the screen goes this it does this freaky red glow
occasionally like almost like the moon is glowing red or something dude the way that this game
changed camera angles and went from like one perspective to now a top down perspective to a side to a zoomed
perspective every time you like round at a corner this freaking lamb thing is chasing you down this
like city path you're running the the sky glows red Ryan and I are both just literally going bro
this might be one of the coolest scenes I've seen in a game in a very long time I told him like
this absolutely reminds me of Sena saga with like the blood ritual where it is burned in my brain
forever like legitimately forever the imagery from the last part of reanimal will forever be
burn into my brain of like, holy crap, that was freaking awesome, dude.
Like, I don't know any other way to describe it.
Yeah, no.
That was a sick sequence.
I loved it.
It was so freaking good.
And if you miss a single shot, though, that lamb does get you in the middle.
Oh, we know.
Oh, we know.
Yeah.
It does.
That was only once.
That was only once.
It was one shot.
It was one shot.
But, dude, I can't describe what, like, that was like to experience.
like in the moment, especially with both of us, because it wasn't just me.
Like, Ryan was like, dude, this is freaking, like, what is happening?
This is so freaking cool.
And like, it's not just one part of this game.
There are multiple parts like that where I just, I would say, yeah.
The first half of the game was great.
The last half of the game was, oh my gosh, I don't know how they stepped this up like they
did in the latter half of this game to be this freaking good and amazing with some of the
set pieces and scenery and like,
just scripted events that happened in reanimal, dude.
Bro, that last sequence, when you get into the trenches,
and you just walk by all the soldiers offing themselves.
Yes.
What?
Boom.
Like, what?
Ryan and I were like, dude, I feel like I'm freaking in World War II right now,
and it is terrifying me.
And I got the helmet, and that saves us.
Yeah, it saves you from the sniper.
Ping.
And then I was like, uh, dude,
dude, that sniper rifle just cracking in the distance literally made me
like flinch every time. And this is what I'm trying to tell people is you feel this game, dude. You're
not just playing this game. You feel. Heavy, heavy atmosphere. The atmosphere is second to none people.
Like, I mean, unlike very few games that I have experienced, like honestly, I don't know how they knocked it out
of the park and it ramps up because when you start playing and you're in the first two hours,
you're like, okay, this is cool. This is creepy. But this is like, it's like, it's, it's,
Dude, they just, they, they masterfully closed out this game.
I agree.
All right.
We'll get into our final ratings here, unless you got anything you want to add, Ryan.
I'll save it for the final ratings.
Okay.
Josh, why don't you go ahead and give us your final rating then on this game?
Okay.
So I'm trying to not have recency bias because, again, we're fresh off of this.
This was a lot of fun for Ryan and I to play, you know, again, find a friend that can get scared with you.
We're both chickens when it comes to horror game.
so, you know, we're freaking each other out.
You know, this is like, I'm going to give this game legitimately a nine.
I'm going to give it just a 9.0.
I think it was incredible.
It is short.
That's taking away some of the points for me.
I think it does start off a little slow.
I think if they had fired this game up, just completely going bananas from the beginning,
it probably would have been even better at that point.
But I also get that they're, you can't just go chaos from the rip.
Like you need those calmer times and those like, you know, you got to have the calm to have the storm, right?
And I think the game does a good job there.
This is a must play game in my opinion, dude.
Like, honestly, I can't describe how much just the experience.
It's not the gameplay.
The gameplay's fairly minimal.
It is just a walking, you know, there's not any hard puzzles or any of that stuff where you feel super smart that you figured it out.
But you were playing this game for the experience to walk away from it with the memories burned in your head of like the crazy.
things that you got to experience. And to me, it is worth it. So I'm giving it a nine because I think
everybody should play this game at some point. Good deal. All right, Ryan, what do you think?
I'm really along the same vein. Man, this game was like, again, it was just a total experience.
I loved every minute of what I played. I did not have any time with the little nightmares.
gameplay or anything like that.
But this is one of the
first games in a long time
where when I wasn't playing
in, I'm like, man, I need to hit up Josh
see if we can get on. You know, see if we can
play more and finish it. So like
there was a draw there.
And for that reason, I'm
definitely in the nines. I'm going to go in
9-2. Oh, wow. Okay.
Yeah. This was, this
actually like was a really, really
cool game for me. The
final level with the tank,
going backwards and just like
I'm trying, I've tried, and I'm shooting,
I'm shooting and we're just trying
to survive as we
have done the whole
the whole freaking game.
Like, just all of it,
all of it was just such a cool experience.
I am not only so stoked to have
played this, I want to play it again.
So if anyone wants to play another
round or go through with me,
I will happily play with you
and we'll go through another
kind of play through on this game
but this game is top-notch
for me. It's one of the best I've played this year.
Man, I'm all out on this game for sure.
Hey guys, my draft's looking pretty good.
Yeah.
Lucky you, lucky you.
Replaced has something to say about that ace.
Yeah, it might actually.
You might not be wrong about that.
I'm very similar.
I'm in the nines as well.
Probably exactly on the nine.
Something I didn't bring up yet that I'm going to bring up now.
I had a lot of technical issues with this game.
Yeah, you did, which is crazy.
That's wild.
Yeah, I had zero.
Very first time me and show loaded up the game,
uh,
his camera was stuck under the boat and I couldn't control the boat or move it or do anything.
We thought we were moving, but it was just the waves rocking the boat.
It was like, well, uh, I guess we log back in and try again.
And then the final sequence with the tank, uh,
we just couldn't get that to load with both of us in the game.
So I had to do that by myself.
Oh, no.
No, that takes away so much.
Were you guys crossplay or just PC to PC?
Both PC, PC to PC.
Wow, that's weird, man.
I owned the game, he didn't.
I don't know what the issue was.
I couldn't figure it out.
I also crashed quite a bit and had quite a bit of frame drops.
I did crash once, I think.
Maybe twice?
I did have some rubber banding where I'd see characters like fling off.
Yeah, there's definitely, this game definitely needs optimization on PC.
I will say that.
It definitely needs a little bit of work.
But it's still a nine for me just because the experience in general was very enjoyable, very unique.
And you can't get that anywhere else except for Reanimal and Little Nightmares, honestly.
Yeah.
But yeah.
So those were our ratings.
Be sure to go down in our comment section on Spotify and tell us your ratings how you felt about Reanimal if you picked it up or if this episode inspired you to pick it up.
We'd love to know.
You'd be great to know.
You should pick it up.
And listen, even if you listen to the spoilers, you need to experience this game.
Yeah.
that doesn't do it justice.
Maybe you can decipher the story.
We're talking like Halo 3
Warhog level.
Honestly, it's crazy, dude.
It's, it's worth the experience.
So, you know, if you can show out the $40,
shell out the $40, sell out to $40,
you can find somebody to play it with you.
They get the free friends pass.
Yeah, split it with a buddy.
But yeah, I mean, play this game, people.
It was, I'll be honest, I was excited for this.
I did not know that I was going to walk away from this game
feeling this good about it, like after the fact.
mind. Like I said, I want to replay it.
It really kind of is. I played it.
I play it.
Negative.
After the negative start, I'm glad it kind of came back.
They had something to show for that
rough beginning.
But, you know. Yeah. So thank you all
so much for listening to this episode.

So that's always an option.
But I think that's all for this episode.
So until next time, happy gaming.
See ya.
Ryan, hear me out.
What if we make a break for it?
I'm in.
Just go, go, go, go, go.
Oh, crap, that didn't work.
See, everybody.
