Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers podcast.
September is here, and it kicks off one of the busier months for gaming.
But just wait till we get to October.
With insane titles like Wolverine and Control Resonate and more, there's a lot of games to try and sift through.
Well, on today's episode, we're bringing you the hottest games for September,
so you know what's worth looking at and what might be best.
best to steer clear of.
Before we get to the gaming goodness, some introductions are in order.
I am your host Josh and joining me where we're like 67% sure that he's going to play Wolverine.
And even if he doesn't, we're 100% sure he'll be calling people Bub before you know it.
It's Ryan.
You better watch your mouth, Bub.
Bub.
Bob.
I mean, I do kind of like Bub.
I'm not going to
I use Bubb I use Bob and and and
Bud buddy like a lot I use a lot of those I don't remember
anybody's names so I usually they can tell me and I forgot
by the time like we I blinked so I use those a lot but
no I can't wait for Wolverine I'm stoked wait I got a message
is it resonant yeah resonate resonant not resonate I didn't want to say
I didn't want to say it always says that wrong though he always says I know I
He typed it wrong in the show doc, too, so I was like, I should fix that.
Resonant.
What is a resonant then?
Is that somebody that lives in like an apartment complex?
Like, hey, these are my residents?
Yeah, I know, Ace.
I know, but what the heck is a resonant?
I was going to make the same joke, Josh.
We're old.
We got old daddocks now.
Really?
I was totally going to make the same joke.
Resonant is an adjective that describes a sound in which it is deep, clear, and echoing.
Something deeply evocative and meaning.
If something resonates, that's the same.
thing. Yeah, but this is the adjective for it. So it's...
So one is a noun and one is an adjective. Basically.
So I said the same word. I just said the different... Yeah, but if someone
searched that, they wouldn't find this game. Form of the word. Oh my gosh. All right. Well, let me
introduce this guy who's our literary genius. And joining us. You can tell it's a down
month for Indies with all these AAA titles. Because when we asked him, are there any
Indies were missing, his answer was, no, probably not.
It's Ace.
It's nothing really that I'm remembering.
I'm sure something will come to me later.
I'll be like, oh, no, but no, nothing that slaps me in the face, unfortunately.
Which has got to be really bad if Ace is not like throwing it because the stuff he sends
to us sometimes.
Josh knows.
Yeah, go ahead.
Thank you, Ryan.
This might be the first time ever where Ace is not fought to have like us bring up like
at least two indies.
Yeah.
when we're talking about games for the month.
And then when we asked him and we're like,
A, is there anything we're missing on this list?
And Ace was like, no, probably not.
And then I was just like, what is happening right now?
Like, well, now that you mention it.
Oh, here we go.
Bonana is coming out on the second.
Wait, we miss Bahmanana.
I can't say bomb banana.
Banana is coming out of the second, followed by Beetle Ball on the third,
which I'm excited about.
So there are some.
Okay.
Well, there it is, people.
all of a sudden, Ace is throwing out indie titles.
He's like, hold up.
Hold up.
He did.
Yeah, he tricked us, man.
He's like, I had an open.
I had an open steam and looked at my personal calendar.
I won't tell them ahead of time.
I'll just drop it on the show live.
Yeah.
What the heck, man?
Although now I am kind of excited because bomb bananas.
Bob banana was fun.
That was a lot of fun.
Yeah.
I like that one.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, guys, before we get to September's hottest releases,
we do have an awesome member of the community to
thank because our boy
Yeckley, who went
from rare status to
epic status to support
the podcast. So we got another epic
member, Yekley. Thank you, brother.
Thank you. Signing up, supporting the
podcast. You rock. Also,
Eckley gave us, uh, are
Yekley? Yep, Yekley. I said
Eckley. Um, awesome question.
We got a little deep in the pre show.
So, yeah, epic, epic
supporters get to do those questions for the pre show.
So if you haven't, check it out.
he did say I'm going to give you guys a tough one and then he did so yeah he's a man of his word that's for sure but yackley thank you man
all right oh ace is now let's just DMing us indie titles that he's like I forgot about this one I forgot about that one well it didn't have a release date till recently so like dang it we broke the seal we broke the seal yeah Ryan's like too late ace yeah it's all right whatever whatever it's fine
There's still some indies on here.
They're just like new.
All right.
Guys, we have been talking all summer about how September and October are just crazy months for game releases.
Yep.
There's a lot of games coming out this month.
There's a lot of games that I know a lot of people are going to be excited for.
And I don't know if there's a wider mix of games that appeals to like a broad range of gamers than September.
Like October's got, in my opinion, October has like,
the titles that I'm most excited for for the year.
But September has such a good variety of games that it's like, I think there's something
for everybody that's coming out in September.
So we're going to dive in.
We're going to go in chronological order here for you, people.
Now, listen, we can't cover every single game that comes out in a month because there's hundreds.
What about?
I know.
I know.
Yep.
And so we tried to pick the,
the biggest games that we think will appeal to you as the listeners out there.
We know that there's some other games that people are excited for.
We just can't cover all of those.
It's not a slight to the game.
It's just, hey, these are the ones that we think that people out there need to know about.
Because if you're excited for a game that we don't talk about, that's awesome.
But it's probably a little bit more of like a niche game for people.
All right.
So, guys, one that I do believe we decided during the,
pre-show that we are going to deep dive because the three of us are very curious about this game.
The Blood of Dawn Walker, September 3rd. Guys, that's coming out in like two days.
Yeah, that's very soon. How are we here already, man?
I feel like you just saw gameplay for the first time. Not long ago. Even though they've been
showing this game off for quite a while now, it's, this game might be the biggest enigma that I have,
that I can remember, dude.
Like, legitimately, I don't know what the heck to think about Blood of Dawn Walker.
And if people were listening to our pre-show, we were talking, hey, what game do we want to cover for September?
We're obviously spoiler.
We're going to cover Wolverine.
But the other one was like, okay, well, then what else?
And we decided we landed on Blood of Dodd Walker because we all are in that exact same boat where it's like, is this game going to be good?
Yeah.
Is it going to be bad?
Like, I don't know.
I don't know what to think.
What do you guys think?
Morbid curiosity is a dangerous thing, my friend.
Yeah.
And Blood of Dawn Walker has been this enigma the entire year where it should be this massive
hyped thing coming from ex-Witcher devs.
But something about it is keeping the press off it and it's keeping people away from it.
And I want to know what that is.
I want to know if this game actually has what it takes to stand out.
I was going to.
massive year.
I was going to say, what do you, what do you guys think it is?
Because, I mean, it looks pretty cool.
I mean, and it looks like it's action-packed, and there's some really good scenes that we've seen from some of the stuff that they showed us so far.
But it's like, it's not, it's not getting that grip or that hold with people.
It's got vampires and time travel.
It's got RPG mechanic.
I don't know, man.
I don't know what's not clicking with Blood of Dog Walker for people.
I don't know.
It's like, we're all three of us.
Like, I don't know, man.
We're all in the same vote of like, we're just.
But we're going to find out.
We're going to find out.
We are going to find out.
We're going to figure this out.
Yeah.
I mean, I'll be honest.
Like, if I had to try to quantify it, it's, it is the, I don't know what to expect.
I don't know if they can pull it off.
I don't know that we're seeing anything that hasn't necessarily been done before.
You know what I mean?
Like, this just kind of looks like your standard action RPG kind of, you know, like we're
starting to get a lot more of those.
But it's not.
super over the top.
It's not like super action based like tides of annihilation or yeah,
like Phantom Blade Zero or something like that.
So then it's like, okay, well, it's more of an RPG a la the Witcher.
So then you kind of go, okay, well, what are the RPG elements on this?
But then you start looking into that and you're like, okay, well, yeah, there's, there's,
the dialogue's good.
The choices seem to matter.
It's got this weird time mechanic where everything you do costs you time so that you can't do
everything, which I do think is somewhat unique.
But also, that's going to
terrify me because I hate feeling like I made the wrong
choice and then now I missed out on something.
I don't know.
I honestly, I don't know that a game has been a bigger
enigma to all of us than Blood of Dawn Walker.
And that's why we decided we're going to jump into this.
We will be deep diving this game.
The review embargo is over by the time this episode
releases. So we're releasing, we're recording this Sunday.
afternoon and I just looked it up. The embargo ends on August 31st, which for us is tomorrow.
If those are some low scores, our plans, made change. Yeah, maybe, maybe. I mean, you know,
yeah, I mean, everything starts coming out and it's getting fives and sixes. Pivot! Pivot!
Yeah. Heaven forbid a four.
Were you getting like super, at least with the, it's obviously a brand new game. It's about to drop,
but I felt super
like this is Witcher 3 combat
like it didn't look
it didn't look like it was
it was really crisp and clean
and I mean that's and your Witcher 3 is an amazing game
but that's 10 years old more than 10 years old
and that's what this looked like to me is I felt
I felt a lot of Witcher 3 in the combat
but that's I mean it's over a decade and that's like
an old game and you're going to do a brand new thing
with really nothing new that pops or anything that's like,
what's going to make me wow?
Like,
drop my jaw.
I think that's where the trailers have failed.
Like, to be honest,
like,
I think the trailers have failed to go,
here's a wow moment.
Now,
I will say for the combat,
they took a note out of Kingdom Come deliverances book
where you have the directional.
Now,
you don't have to play that way.
They give you the option.
You can just play this like a standard action RPG.
Or you can go with that directional-based combat,
which sounds good in theory, but in execution is going to matter.
It's so hard.
Yeah, it is hard.
It's so hard.
Well, and then the thing is, is like that little icon that says like up or left or right is you better be able to see that icon pretty well at the same time.
So, yeah, count us very, very curious.
I don't, none of us know what to think about Blood of Dawn Walker other than, like you said, Ace, morbid curiosity is coming into play to see, is this game actually going to be really good?
or is it just going to not be what I think people were hoping for?
None of us drafted this game.
None.
We forgot about it.
In the draft, if you guys remember, at the end, we were like, wait a minute, what about Dawn Walker?
All right, Ryan, why don't you, this second one, I don't know what to think about this one either.
So why don't you tell the people, because I have heard a lot of chatter on our Discord server on this one.
I've heard this name a few times now.
There's a lot of people that are very excited for this one.
How, I guess if you were going to say the name, how would you say it?
No, that's why I threw it to you.
I knew you did it.
Dang it.
I was trying to roll it by back.
This next game is called Oni Musha, the way of the sword.
So close, right?
You were close.
You were close.
On, on.
Ones.
Oni.
Oni.
Oni.
You know, like a Japanese demon.
Oni.
Yeah.
Who?
Oni Musha.
Oni Musha way of the sort
I don't live in Japan, Ace, I'm sorry
The nerd side of Ace is like
I can't believe you butchered it like that Ryan
On on I'm
Usha
Oni Oni mucia
Oni
Oni
Ace is dying
I love it
I know he was dying
Dude I
I can't believe you threw that to me like that
That's so much of it to you
What's her name is your mooseer Ryan?
What do you think about this
Do you want to see some combat that's not like Witcher 3 combat?
Yeah, it's definitely not like Witcher 3.
This, from what I've seen so far, this thing looks, I know like you said, there's been a lot of chatter.
A lot of people are talking about this.
I am much more in this world and this style than I used to be.
I think it looks good, guys.
Like, I think it looks really good.
It's not only, it's kind of like a dark,
world, but it feels alive. It's not just kind of dark to be dark and, and bland and empty.
It looks like it's alive and then the combat looks so good. I'm very excited on this one.
What are you? Like a samurai guy? Samurai. Samurai dude. I feel like Ace knows more about this
than either, but probably combined spot either. But I don't know if Ace knows about this franchise either.
I don't know a ton about this franchise. I can tell you it comes from Capcom and it's one of Capcom's more
difficult franchises as it is a
action RPG style game
all about you know slaying
onies and demons of Japanese
myth and legend which is cool
as heck I mean yeah and as we
know with Capcom they haven't really
missed this year
oh they've been doing well they've been doing
very very well with both you know
Resident Evil Requiem and
progmata both releasing this year
now they'll also have their game
dude they are
and I mean they're killing it right now
Visually, I mean, visually, it looks awesome.
Oh, visually, it's stunning.
It's just like with something like Phantom Blade Zero coming out very soon after this,
I have to wonder if playing this would make me kind of fatigued of the genre.
Yeah.
It's a very similar genre.
It's not quite the same.
I will say that.
But it's a very similar feeling of combat and genre.
I have a question for the listeners and our community, because again, we've seen a lot of chatter.
we know that there's a lot of people that are excited for this game.
I, to me, this, and I know nothing about this franchise.
I've never played one of these games.
I can admit why, like, I watched the trailer again right before recording, because I was
like, let me take another look at this.
I think it looks really impressive.
Like, I can see why people are really excited for this.
There's a free demo.
But, like, how is this any different than, like, Nio?
You know what I mean?
Or something similar.
Like, I feel like this style of game has been done.
And so I just don't know what sets it.
apart in what gets people excited about other than the combat like i said i mean it looks flashy it looks
fun that is no slight to this game whatsoever i just don't know you know how does this compare to nio
or you know some of these other games of this vein that we've seen before like like saccharos a little
bit more of like a soul's like like nio or on lucia would be this kind of has that souls like
difficulty like neo does it's it's got that the paris and the defects and things is it neo ace it is
Okay, I was going to say, okay, listen.
No, no, no, no, no.
I knew it.
I knew it.
Time out.
It is.
In my brain, I say Neo.
I said Nio because I thought that's the way you're supposed to say it.
It's Neo.
And I should have just gone with what my brain said because I would have been right.
I've ever heard.
I've never played a single one and I knew it was Neo.
I was just like, no, I don't think that's right.
In my brain, always call it Neo.
And then I was like, Ace is going to yell at me if I, if I say it wrong.
We're afraid of them.
Nio thinking that was the right way to say it.
And then I freaking got it wrong.
Yeah.
The big thing that makes this one stand out,
though, is like the ONI powers and the ONI
awakenings and things like that.
That's what I was going to say.
Some of the power of the ONI.
The big, there was one where he like cracks like reality.
And it's like you see it splintering.
And then he has this other big wave attack.
Like, I think if they can make really fantastical,
awesome combat moves, like in specials that you get to use
often enough to where they're not, you know,
so drawn out, but not to where it's just kind of,
of boring just using it over and over and spamming.
Like I think that'll help a lot.
And the combat again looks great and it's visually amazing.
So but again, like you guys said, uh, you know,
are you going to get fatigue on this style?
You know, if you're playing too many of them.
You know, this franchise has been in hiatus for nearly two decades.
Really?
Yeah.
This is the,
well, that's why people are excited.
This is why people are very, very, very, I would go so far as to say that if
blood of Dawn Walker, if we start getting the review embargo lifts,
I would hop over on your mission.
Absolutely.
I would, that would be my backup, I think.
Yeah, I would, absolutely.
I'm very, I'm interested enough that I would go, hey, let's pivot to that.
Yeah.
I'll third that.
I'm in.
Yeah.
So, all right.
A couple quick hitters for you.
So Mugenics, which we have talked about on this show before, that is coming to console.
So Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
You all out there.
Is that Ryan Coffrey?
I'm sorry, I was hairball.
Hairball.
No, that's a great switch.
There goes.
So it is coming to consoles.
It's a fantastic game.
We have played it.
We've covered it.
We did a deep dive on it.
If you want our thoughts, just look up that deep dive.
But y'all out there on console, we'll get access to Mugenics on September 8th.
I don't know if I said this either.
Onamusha comes out September 4th for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Yep.
Valheim, which if you have not played Valheim people, you should absolutely play Valheim.
We're not going to spend a lot of time on this,
but Valheim is officially releasing the 1.0 official release of Valheim is happening.
September 9th.
Valheim is one of the best survival crafting exploration games that I think I have played.
Like, if you missed Valheim's release and all of the fun associated with that,
you should absolutely play Valheim.
It's incredible.
I mean, just simply incredible.
That's anything else to say about Valheim guys.
I didn't play Valheim.
When did the early access start?
Valheim's, I feel like it's been four years, Ryan, to be honest.
Four years?
It's been a while.
I don't know.
I'm just saying it feels like four years.
Dude.
Probably close three.
You're under.
Is February 2nd, 2021?
25 years?
Okay.
Well, there you go.
Early access.
It's worth it.
Yeah, 2021.
That's why I was like, I feel like I've heard this damn name forever.
Yeah.
well it's it's it's a really good game people do not this is our this is your call out this is your
reminder that if you missed playing valheim this is your chance i will say this find at least one
person to play this game with if you don't have somebody come join our discord server i guarantee
you'll find somebody that wants to play it is not great solo but with a friend it it absolutely shines
man so don't let that cross play uh i don't know that's a good question one of you guys
Google that real quick.
Well, I tell people.
Platforms it's coming out on.
So Valheim is releasing on PC,
PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch to Xbox Series X.
And I don't know what X,
is that Xbox?
Yeah, Syracuse.
Yeah.
Full cross pay between PC and Xbox.
Right now you go.
Oh, PC and Xbox right now.
And then full crossplay across all platforms,
including PlayStation 5 Nintendo Switch on the launch of September 9th.
So, there you go.
September 9th.
Yep, you got it.
There you go.
Yeah, for, full crawl.
Don't, don't miss this.
game people. Like legitimately, Valheim's
incredible, guys.
All right, so then war dogs.
We just got done
doing the closed beta.
We talked about this when Ryan was camping.
Yep. Yep.
But there is
Ryan.
It's a family show.
I've been wondering how many times
I have to call it camping before.
Ryan just loses his stuff,
man.
Go ahead.
There's a lot to love about War Dogs people.
If you are an Arma Reforger kind of person, if you are a Milsom person, I got a good buddy that loves Escape from Tarkov and he also likes Battlefield and he was like, bro, this is the best mix of the two.
There's a lot to enjoy about War Dogs.
Personally, for me, I did refund it.
It's just a little too not what I was looking for in a game.
That's not to say it's not great because there is a lot to like there.
but Ward Dogs is releasing into early access September 10th for PC only.
So if you have interest, there is a lot to like there.
It does seem like a very well done game.
The shooting felt good.
Check it out if that's up your alley.
All right, we're going to take a quick break and then we're going to come back.
We'll talk about Wolverine.
This is probably the number one release for this month for most people as far as hype level
and the big release for the month.
We'll talk about that right after this break.
How long was that break, Bub?
How many ads do I got to listen to?
Why are you asking me so many questions, Bob?
Yeah.
It's just going to be Bob from here on out.
Wolverine, September 15th, boys, for PlayStation 5 only.
This one's a long time coming.
I feel like we've heard about Wolverine for a while now.
And then it leaked.
The game leaked a while back when Insomnia got hacked.
Everyone saw it and they're like,
this game sucks.
And then
Enzomiac put it back at the vault
and said, you know what? We'll come back when we're ready.
Yeah. We're just going to circle back.
That leak was a long time ago, man.
A long time ago.
You know, a lot to really like about this game.
We've covered this a bunch.
We're not going to spend much time on this one.
This is, like I said, one of the largest releases for September.
Smack in the middle of the month.
We will be covering Wolverine
because I think all three of us just really want to play it.
at the same time.
I do, I've said this before and I'll say it again.
I do have some concerns with this game.
So I'm very curious to see if this meets expectations or if those concerns were warranted or not.
But yeah, I mean, it's a spectacle.
It's violent.
It's gory.
It's everything that a Wolverine game should be.
I'm really excited to get my hands on this one, man.
I'm interested to play it just because I haven't played an insomnia game in a while.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
There's a void there I could fill.
Whatever.
Dude, if it's, even if it's,
there's nothing different and nothing revolutionary.
And it's just like Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 re-skinned into like Wolverine world.
I'm in, dude.
That's not a bad thing.
Just web swings are like,
yeah, whatever we got to do and it's,
and it's Wolverine because it's like they did such a good job.
Insomniac did so amazing with just making awesome fun gameplay.
It's not serious.
It doesn't take itself too like.
I got to play Spider-Man 2.
It's not hardcore.
Dude,
Spider-Man 2 is so good.
You really should, dude.
I really got to get to that one.
It's genuinely so good.
Jackson just did a speed run through it.
He's crazy, dude.
He's nuts when he plays these games.
But, like, it's such a good game.
And I don't have any doubt that they will make a quality game.
It's just how good it's going to be received and how good, you know, it is.
I love the aspect of the more gore and more, like, kind of mature style of this game.
Truly Wolverine.
So, true.
crew to like having you see it like in the stuff where he's just getting he's coming out the
door and he just gets lit up and he's got bullets all in his body and everything so I I see the
metal skull yeah when he's getting just melted away and then he's stabbing guys through the
head and stuff like I had adamantium ace adamantium is a metal yeah but it's called yeah but
it's not like any other metal you know this is I like I do like how like it you know in the
MCU it's like you've got adamantium but then you have vibranium yeah you know and
Which one? Vibranium's the strongest on Earth, right?
I think Adamantium is, isn't it?
They have different.
Adamantium can scratch Vibranium, so I believe it is stronger.
Okay, and then Thanos had the Uru, which is the strongest in the universe.
That was like a moon metal.
Yeah, it's the strongest in the universe.
That's why, yeah, that's why he was able to crush Kapp's shield with his sword.
He was like, what out, what ah, and he just broke.
Yeah, like the helicopter blade thing.
Yeah.
Was that?
That was some super fancy rare metal?
It's like a super special.
Really?
That's what,
that's what?
I had no idea.
That's what Muleyre?
What,
do you think he was just able to break a vibranium?
I thought it was his strength.
I thought it was because Thanos is so strong and he had the freaking infinity gone on it.
No, he's got that.
And then that's what Muleer and Stormbreaker,
Thor's are both made out of that as well.
Yeah.
Yeah, bro.
Okay.
Adamantium is generally considered stronger and more durable in terms of raw hardness and physical
damage resistance while vibranium is more versatile because it absorbs energy.
Do you think of when he went to Visions head and he just told the mindstone, he just like
uses fingers and just pulled it right out. He's visions made of Adamant or Vibranium.
Yeah, he was made of vibranium. This is true.
Anyways, that's enough of our MCU talks.
Yeah, so there you go.
Back to video games.
We don't get distracted easily. I mean, this is important stuff.
And you know what?
I guarantee somebody's...
I didn't even know what Uru was.
Somebody's going to correct us on something, and I don't know what it'll be.
But something was wrong.
Absolutely.
I bet Uru is probably not stronger than Adamantium or something, and we'll be like, that's fine.
I will say, I think it's the strongest in the universe for sure, but whatever.
So wait, you're also telling me that Stormbreaker, which is the axe that he had forged, was made out of Uru?
Yeah.
I can't...
That and Muleer, the hammer.
Thor's hammer.
is made out of Uru as well.
I believe so.
No way.
No way.
There's no way.
You already know this is wrong so you're trying to troll me or something?
I'm going to look this up.
No, because I don't know.
I've never heard of Uru.
Boom, baby.
This is blowing my mind.
Mjolnir is made out of Uru?
Yeah.
It's the same stuff.
Oh my gosh.
This is a little helicopter thing was made out of.
I did and I had no idea that that was Thanos's weird helicopter made sword.
Mielnir is forged from Uru, a powerful missile.
mystical metal ore originating from Asgard or the first moon in some lores.
It absorbs and enhances magic.
Okay.
Well, just like a lot of listeners out there, I learned something that's blowing my mind today.
Stormbreaker as well.
Both of them are made out of Vuru.
Wow.
Thank you.
Death scrolling at the middle of the night.
Just for this.
I'm going to rewatch Avengers.
I don't know why before I go see Doomsday.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love those movies so much.
All right.
Anyway, moving on, boys.
Sorry.
What's Wolverine, Josh?
You know what you get.
You know what you get when you tune into this podcast.
You know what to expect.
Hey, like people always say, we're all buddies hanging out, talking on the couch.
That's what it feels like.
Yeah.
We get to stress.
That's what happens.
Sometimes you pause the game and just start chatting.
Yeah, because this is blowing my mind, man.
All right.
This game I'll pause and never play again.
Yeah.
It is a good month if you like survival crafting games because Roomscape Dragon Wilds is fully
releasing. Now this game came out in early access. It's been out for a little while. People have
been able to play it, but it is fully launching on September 15th. This is, you know, I know about
RuneScape, but I'll be honest, I'm not a RuneScape person because I don't want my life to just be taken up
by RuneScape. Like I know it does. But Dragon Wilds is their kind of survival crafting game
that's in the RuneScape universe. It looks really well done. The reviews for
early access, I think are sitting at like the low to mid 80s.
So people apparently really like this.
It's coming out on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
I could see this game being a lot of fun.
I'm a huge fan of survival crafting games.
I kind of mentioned earlier that this has my curiosity.
Ryan laughed at me, but it does have my curiosity at the same time.
So there you go.
So for people that want another survival crafting game,
and especially those that love the RuneScape universe.
There you go.
That's probably one you're very excited for.
Fire emblem fortunes weave, ace?
Oh boy.
Oh boy.
Here you go, buddy.
Spiritual successor to Fireman three houses.
Fire emblem fortunes weave is looking mighty fine for those of us who enjoy our tactical RBGs.
And dating sim.
Is it really a dating sim?
It's not really totally dating sim.
It's more of a relationship building sims.
him where you build relationship with the people in your army and they can sometimes
progress into dating and in fire mom usually you'll end up having a kid or time travels back
from the future and now joins your army as an adult which is kind of cool but that's just
fireman stuff that's just a little aside no big aside that you might have a kid that time
travels and then joins her party it can happen it happens sometimes yeah yeah can i also can i
get a listeners i'm going to ask you with this can i get a spiritual successor count for ace
just keep track guys
when we talk to these games
well it's not directly related to
three houses technically
but it has the same like universe
and some of the characters I know I know
but all of these games you always go
this is a spiritual successor
to okay why don't you look up the sales numbers
for Fireman Three Houses buddy and you'll know why
I do I know there's a lot of people
that are excited for this I'll be honest I
have a Nintendo Switch 2
I'm curious about this game.
Like, legitimate.
Oh, Ryan's like,
I don't have a steam deck, Ryan, so there you go.
You act like I paid for it.
Yeah, that's even more.
You know what I mean?
Some of us have fans.
Some of us don't.
I get to pay for my Nintendo Switch 2, and it costs a lot, Ryan.
Yeah, me too.
And I didn't even get to do.
I know.
Here's the daunting thing with Fortune's Weed,
because I actually, I oddly have this like,
desire to play like an old school
JRP, which I know that this game fits
and you can really get sucked into those.
But yes, Ace, that's the problem,
is that it is saying it is about 160 to 200 hours
to beat all of this.
There are apparently four different paths.
I don't even know how you have four paths.
Four different starting characters in a five-year time skip.
So there's going to be a lot of content.
I can't. That's daunting. That's just daunting at the stage.
That sounds horrible. That sounds horrible. That's so much.
I mean, if you had a game that you could lose 160 hours in, that sounds great if you love the game.
But that's just not conducive to a gaming podcast either.
If you've been waiting to get back to the world of Fire emblem like this is a dream to jump into this.
Yeah.
Boy, do we have something for you.
Yeah. I'm curious about this one, man. There is a world where I wind up in a slow like two months, maybe pick a
this up and seeing what this is about
because I could see really loving it.
I know that the people that are waiting for
this game are anxiously awaiting
this game and I'm kind of jealous
because I'll be playing on the side
whatever else we're playing for a while. I'll tell you that.
Yeah, I know.
You know, we've talked about
this one a couple times. I have zero interest
in this. I don't know why.
I say, what about it turns you off from this one?
I just want to know.
Here's what. Here's what turns me off
on this. So the game is Silent Hill Townfall.
coming out September 24th for PC and PlayStation 5.
Here's my problem.
Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 2, amazing games.
And then I just read an article
that said that they are planning to release Silent Hill games
on a yearly basis now.
I don't know if you guys saw this.
Maybe don't do that.
Yeah, no.
And I can't remember.
I wish I had the quote right in front of me,
but like the guy that said this was basically,
like, you could tell he was like, oh, no.
Like, I have to say this, but oh, no.
that's my problem is that I this what Silent Hill was before was amazing and nobody had ever done that
what Silent Hill now is just doesn't interest me because there's townfall and what was the one
before that with the weird dolls Silent Hill wasn't it that was the Japanese one yeah that one
that one looked weird too and it's just like I just don't I mean kind of but I don't know man
their doll just starting to blend together and I feel like they're just because they're just
barfing them out at this point that like what's what's going to be good about them i'm not gonna
all blending together but the last one was more of a like action focused third person camera
view one and then this one's first person kind of like when they brought back resident evil like
i do like the first person view better i will say i like first person better i think it's much more
immersive i think that'll be a lot more in a terrifying experience like this oh yeah i thought
they were the same game i'm not going to lie oh god before i looked town fall and
Yeah. When I saw it, I'm like, see, that's my point. I was like, I was like, we just, we just did a silent hill game. Didn't one just come out? Like, what is this? And then I looked and I was like, oh, this is a different game. Like that's, because F didn't really do much. No. And so, yeah. And then obviously, once I looked at it, I knew, I realized it was different. But, um, yeah, that's, that seems. I mean, uh, GTA and Skyroom and all that, like 10, 12, 15 years. That's too long. But like one year is also maybe a little too short.
Maybe we'll get ready to put a tally up there, listeners, so I'm about to mention it.
Ubisoft learned this the hard way with Assassin's Creed yearly releases.
Yeah.
That releasing a game every single year is a bad idea.
You will just lose quality and then you will lose players.
And then, yes, nobody's going to care at that point, man.
It's not mad.
It's not a sports game.
I don't think it looks bad.
I'll just say that.
I don't think it looks bad.
I don't think the game.
looks bad. I'm just not interested in this yearly, like, barfing out of Silent Hill games at this
point. You know? Fair enough. But to be fair, like you said, Ace, if you watch the trailer in
the gameplay, I do think Silent Hill Townfall actually looks like a good video game. I just also don't
opt into, like, horror games very often, you know, like, if it's a Resident Evil, like, sure,
if it's something else, like, you know, that I can play with friends and be terrified, like, sure,
but I just don't really dive into horror-based games very often either, so I don't know.
All right.
Control.
Ace, why don't you tell the people about this next game?
You mean Control Resonant, the sequel to Control and long,
long awaited game, Control Resonant.
It's a silent end.
Ryan's rubbing off on me, man.
It's a silent end, dude.
Dang it.
I think they've got an interesting way with Control Resonant.
They've kind of gone away from the cover shooter mechanics of the original
control and now it is more of a
I don't want to quite say
hack and slash RPG but more of
a action forward RPG
which is much more focused on melee
combat clearing out enemy zones
and exploring the above ground
outside of the facility
which is pretty cool
I am
I'm curious about it because I know
remedy makes top tier games
but also I feel like there's no hype around
control resident
I am part of that no hype
I know you
You are part of the problem.
You like control and you are part of the problem.
I don't know why, dude.
Like, legitimately, I know that I should be excited about, about this game.
But, like, every time I've watched gameplay with it, like, the one thing I love is the visuals.
I love the crazy floating people and all this weirdness and all that stuff.
But then I watched the gameplay part.
And they absolutely went with a more action-based kind of gameplay loop on this one.
And I don't know if it works for me.
Is that where they lose you?
They took out like kind of the spooky supernatural element of hiding and cover shooting?
Yes.
Like honestly, like, and I would much rather like an action RPG versus a cover shooter, like by nature for me as a gamer.
But it doesn't, it doesn't fit for me in this like control like remedy universe kind of thing.
Not that I know a ton about that.
I think that's fair.
I mean, I did play control and I have played Alan Wake 2.
And I'm sure that Resonant is going to be good.
But I have like no interest in this game at all.
Like this will be the game.
And again, I'm not trying to slain to the game here at all because I think the game looks really well done.
But this is the kind of game where two years from now it's going to go on sale for like 60% off.
And I'm going to be able to pick it up for like $15.
And then I'll be like, hey, let me dive in and see what this game's about.
You know, but it's like as like a brand new release, especially near the end of the month when October's barreling towards us.
Well, we got coming up.
I just don't.
I don't know, man.
Dude, I'm with you.
Like, you saying that it's going to go on on sale in a year or two.
Like, that's exactly what I thought of.
I think that it's going to be a really good game and probably has some solid, solid parts and moments.
And a lot of people are going to like it.
But also, I think it's just kind of going to be there.
It's good, not great.
Like, it's going to be, it's going to be there.
It's going to be a fun game, a fun time for some people to play.
But I don't, I don't, I haven't seen anything that makes me say, oh, I have.
have to play that.
Yeah.
And that's what I was looking for and I just, I didn't see it.
I feel like that's just the issue with Remedy.
Remedy makes these top tier games, but they're not appreciated until they go on sale and
people can buy them because they don't, they still don't trust Remedy.
The other issue is, if they land for you, they land really, really incredibly well for people.
Like, we, I can't remember who's playing Allen Wake too, but they, in our, in our Discord
community, we're literally just saying, like, this might be one of my favorite games of all
time with Alan Wake 2. And like I get it. I played Alan Wake 2. I liked parts of it,
but I got bored really quickly with it as well. Like again, I can appreciate an insanely well
developed, well done game. But at the same time, like, it's not for me. But I think with
control, just remedy in general, I think if they land for you, they land insanely well. And if they
don't land for you, then you kind of go, I don't understand why everybody loves these and they talk about
them so highly at the same time. And I feel like with control resonant, that's kind of
the case for me at least. So that's coming out September 24th for PC PlayStation 5 and Xbox
Series X. This last one we talked about before, Witcher 3, the remaster, which man,
I'm so excited to dive into this, but it's just the worst timing ever. It is the worst timing imaginable.
This will be a Christmas break game ace. I think you said it best with that one. The remaster looks
incredible. I just watched another video today on some of the aspects of the remaster and all that.
It looks phenomenal. I would love an excuse to dive back into Witcher 3, especially since I haven't played it since it released.
So it's been a really long time. But as a reminder to people, this remaster looks incredible. You get the remaster for free if you own the Witcher 3.
And you get the two DLCs. So Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, which also are part of that remaster.
and are amazing.
So, you know, CD Project Red just starting Christmas early for people this year and giving away a ton of stuff.
I can't, I will.
I absolutely will dive into the remaster at some point.
It's just not going to be September 29th when we're seven days away from Galactic Racer.
Have you seen the contrast between like the old one and the new stuff?
No, like a side by side?
Yeah.
Dude, I've seen a couple things, you know, and I mean, who knows if they're real.
But like, I just scrolling through, I saw some stuff.
And it looks, it looks so good.
And I personally, I just want to give, like, what, what an awesome thing to do, like, round of applause for Cheedy Project Red from me.
Like, dude, this is so sick to come out, you know, oh, you own the base game, you already have it.
Tell you what, we're not charging full price.
We're not charging half price.
You get it for free.
You're going to get this remaster for free with the DLCs.
And then you have enough time to 100% all of that.
and then Witcher 4 is going to come out in like a year and a half,
and you're going to be just primed up and ready for more Witcher in that world
and you're going to be ready to rock.
I love it.
I love the thought of this.
It's not greedy and money hungry.
It's investing in your company and the world you've created.
It's something that I think it should happen more.
I think this is fantastic.
I freaking love it.
What an incredibly smart way to get everyone to come back to the Witcher 3
to play the new DLC when it drops.
Yeah. Yeah.
Like that is incredibly smart.
Oh, it's, it's, dude.
Here's the thing, dude. Ryan, you said it best.
So we're gonna just, we're gonna reiterate this.
I agree. Most game companies, most game companies,
if they were going to remaster their game,
looking at you, Bethesda was 40 bucks for the 10th time.
40, you know what I mean?
Would absolutely capitalize on this re-release, this remaster.
And like you said, Ryan charged $40 for it.
And honestly, I probably,
would actually pay that for Witcher 3 remaster.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So the fact that CD Project Red is saying, hey, dude, you know what?
Free.
Free for anybody that owns The Witcher 3.
And I did just verify because I wanted to be sure.
But hearts of stone and blood and wine are remastered as well.
They are not just the base.
They've gone through the full remaster as well.
Those are free.
So I mean, this is the way you do it, dude.
And this is goodwill towards gamers.
Now, there's people that are going to argue and say, yeah, well, CD Project Red.
us a bunch of goodwill. Okay, that's fine. But guess what? They did it. They're doing it.
You know what I mean? Most companies would say like, hey, we're trying to just get 40 bucks out of you while we can.
And a lot of people would pay that. So I'm with you. Kudos to CD Project read on this. They've got my attention.
They've got my love because I can't wait to dive into this. And I will. At some point, I will absolutely find the time to dive back into Witcher 3.
because it is, we've said this.
And Ryan, you and I, you know, spoiler for, because we haven't that up, actually that episode comes on Monday.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, but it's like, you know, that's a top 10 game of all time for both of us.
Yep.
And so if you, if you missed out on Witcher 3, now is your chance.
Like, that's basically the point here is experience one of the best games ever made.
All right.
Well, there you go.
That is your September releases.
So I'll just run down the list real quick here.
Blood of Dawn Walker, September 3rd.

We feasting.

Scraping the top of the barrel.
What's crazy is to me, this is the appetizer before the main course in October.
Yeah, October's rough.
October's got so much.
I don't even know how we're going to pick.
It's a good time to be a gamer, man.
