Starting point is 00:00:11 fellow gamers and welcome to the video gamers podcast. September is here. The summer releases are starting to cool down, and that means it is time to look ahead at some of the most exciting indie games hitting our consoles and PCs this month. So today we're bringing down six indie games coming at September, as if we didn't have enough to play.
Starting point is 00:00:31 And I think they deserve to be on your radar. What makes each one of these interesting and which ones could end up being the hidden gems of the month? Well, that's what we're going to find out. I am your host Ace And joining me He's sitting here wondering How in the world
Starting point is 00:00:45 A game about the franchise Halloween is indie It's Josh Also hasn't this been done already Like Friday the 13th was already a game guys Like It was also an indie game You know Like
Starting point is 00:01:01 I feel like we've been down this road before Would you say you have deja vu? I don't know what that means ace He's got deja vu Don't curse at me in French. How dare you? Don't curse at you in French. Fair enough.
Starting point is 00:01:16 And the guy who's super confident he could take Michael Myers in a fight. It's right. Come on. Bring it on. Bring it on. Let's go. You don't want that smoke. Yeah, I don't want that smoke.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Can I? Go ahead. I just have to clarify something because I know people are going to say I'm an idiot. And while I am an idiot, I'm not a completely uneducated idiot. And yes, I do know that Friday the 13th. is Jason and the Halloween is Michael. But I also feel like we've done this already, but I just wanted to clarify that part that I do know the difference. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:01:47 What, what do you mean? The silent killer with the slashy weapon and the white mask? Yes, yes, but there is a difference there, so I just want everybody to know, especially for our boy Morgow,
Starting point is 00:01:56 that I know the difference and also that this has been done before. Yeah, one of them has a better soundtrack. And one of them has Sigourney Weaver. Oh, oh, yeah. Which one has Sigourney Weaver? I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Oh, I know. That's aliens. That's not even, that's not even, that's not even, this. No, she's in one of them. I don't think that's right. I don't believe that's right either. Are you? Also, spelling Sigourney is not easy.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I'm not super confident about this, by the way, too. Was Sigourney Weaver in? Who am I thinking of then, maybe? Well, what, okay, wait. Jamie Lee Curtis? Jamie. Oh, yeah. That's who Halloween has.
Starting point is 00:02:36 That's who I'm thinking of. That's the, that. You made me trying to figure a house. You're like, living in Friday the 13th or Halloween was Sigoni Weaver. Yeah. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:02:48 Well, that's Ryan, everybody. For anybody that's new, that's our resident idiot Ryan. That's right. Hey, how's going? But guys, did you want more games at September? No.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Yes. We've got more games in September. I don't either. But it is worth point now. that the Indies are here just as strong as every other game that we've mentioned this week. I mean, we even mentioned some Indies, I believe. I think so. But we're going to kick it off with Moonlighter 2, the Endless Vault, which is launching out of its early access into its 1.0.
Starting point is 00:03:21 It's a dungeon crawling action RPG where you explore dangerous vaults in a rogue like, and then you come back and you set it up as a shop and use those profits to make your next run even better. What did you guys think of this? Just first look. I remember this game. I thought this was pretty cool. Actually, like, like the setup to where you'd, go on these raids and you go out and you get all
Starting point is 00:03:40 this equipment and stuff and then you come back and you manage a shop. So it has that aspect of kind of cozy gaming for people who like that style. But then you can still then you can still go out and you can kill stuff and loot stuff and do all those things.
Starting point is 00:03:56 I thought it was, I thought it was really neat and unique. Obviously it's the second entry into the series. But man, yeah, from what I've seen, I liked it. Yeah, it looks very, very well polished and very interesting of a concept. I haven't actually played the first moonliner.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I own it, but it had a very similar concept where you went into the dungeons. Of course you do. I got it for free. That's why I know. Yeah. That makes it all better. But you had the same concept. It's funny because I remember seeing Moonlighter and it was this very neat blend between,
Starting point is 00:04:31 hey, it's a dungeon crawler. You're going through and you're getting your gear and then you bring your gear back and sell it in your shop front. And I was like, that's kind of an interesting. take. That game seemed to be really well received. I will say, and I'm not trying to poohu this because I do think this game looks great and take this with a grain of salt because this is only people that are upset that this isn't Moonlighter 1.
Starting point is 00:04:52 But if you look at the reviews for Moonlighter 2, it's currently sitting in mixed, which is not a good thing to see. But when you actually dig into the reviews, everybody's just upset that it's not the first Moonlighter. It's not the first game. again. Yeah. It's its own thing, which I guess I get being upset that it doesn't feel like the first
Starting point is 00:05:15 game, but also you want people to innovate because then if they're just making the same game over and over again with better graphics, you're just going to get annoyed. Then they get mostly negative or whatever mixed. Yeah, then we get mostly negative from no difference. Why am I paying for the, yeah. This does look really well done, though. I actually watch like this whole trailer because sometimes I skip out like halfway through the trailer because I'm like, yeah, this game looks stupid.
Starting point is 00:05:37 That's fair. But this one, I actually watched the whole thing. And I was like, they made some moves that I, maybe purists. Like, they did say that, like, the combat was much more like rogue-like and Hades-like, which gets me excited. Because I'm like, ooh, that's really good. Yeah, that works for me. But apparently the purists were like, oh, the combat in the first one was better. Now that they tried to do this rogue-like Hades thing, it's just not Hades.
Starting point is 00:05:59 And so it doesn't feel as good. And I don't know. I think this game actually looks pretty, pretty legit. Yeah, I do too, actually. I think it doesn't deserve all the hate it's getting. And it is already out, if anyone can't figure that out. It dropped September 2nd. And it dropped on PC, PS5 Xbox Series X-N-S and the Switch 2.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Dang. Hitting it all. So they were ready. They were ready to drop it all. All right. Let's talk about the big one. This is the one that people have been poking us about. Our buddy Morgo has been poking us about this and for a while.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Halloween the game, boys. Quick, Ryan, do the song. Come on, Ryan. Do it. Do the song. I don't remember what I did. Did you do a song? Come on.
Starting point is 00:06:39 Do it, Ryan. Do it, Ryan. I'm thinking of the Twilight Zone now. Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do. Yeah. Dumb. Dumb. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:51 No, Ryan does not know Michael Myers. No, no, I know. I just, I was, I still got Twilight Zone in my head. This game is actually going to be out September 8th. But if you paid for the, like, deluxe version, you could get early access for the last, like, five days or something like that. and people have been playing it. Yeah, Morgos has been playing for sure.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Yeah, we've been kind of getting like hints of how people feel about the game already. It was mixed last I checked, and then I checked again recently, and it's up to mostly positive. Yeah, so. 3,100, 3,100 reviews, mostly positive. Yeah, this is an A-Sem multiplayer horror game
Starting point is 00:07:25 based on the iconic Halloween franchise that lets players either play as Michael Myers or as a resident of Haddonfield. I think this is a very interesting take on this because it's not just escape, get out on your own, it is convinced the residents to escape and call the police
Starting point is 00:07:41 because you need to take out Michael. You can't just leave him there. Yeah. Now that's, isn't this, this is made by the people from... Elphonic, they make them all. Illphonic and gun media, I believe.
Starting point is 00:07:53 So they made the Ghostbusters game, I believe. Ghostbusters. Okay. Yeah, they made Friday the 13th. They made Ghostbusters Unleashed, killer clowns, and Texas Chainsawks. Okay, that's what reminded me of
Starting point is 00:08:04 Because in the Ghostbusters game, I played a lot with Morgot, and I played a lot with my son. It was actually genuinely, like, it was a pretty fun game. I had a lot of fun playing that. I like Asim games. I think an A-Sing game here. It's neat, but like, in that, too, you have to, you know, the people are freaking out, and you have to convince them to, like, leave, you know, to get away from the ghost before the ghost gets them and stuff, and you get extra credit and points and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Obviously, it's not as graphic or horror as this game is, but. But yeah, no, that's, that's, I mean, I'm, I'm, I will play. Guys, I'm going to say so controversial. I like spooky time. All right. Michael Myers is the stupidest horror villain ever. Like, what about him's done to you? He's just a big lumbering oath.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Like, at least like Freddie Kruger had like the claws on his hands and he was all wrinkled up and scary and he can invade your dreams and stuff. Like, Michael Myers is just a dude with a really cheap crappy Halloween mask and a butcher. knife. Like, I, I just, psychologically damaged person to kill his mother. I get the whole part of that, but he's just a guy with a knife, man. Like, like, there's so many better, like, scary villain things
Starting point is 00:09:16 out there. Like, I don't know. He's the shape of evil, Josh. He's the boogie man. Like, okay. It's the boogeyman. Side note, I won a million percent. I'm buying a suit, like a jumpsuit and a Michael Myers mask, and I'm going to sit with Candy Bowl
Starting point is 00:09:32 and scare kids like this hell Yes. Are you going to go to Josh's house? I've done that. Dude, let's do it. At his ring camera. I'm just going to, like, sit there like this, like, you know, where you just sit, and then they, it says, like, take one.
Starting point is 00:09:44 And then when the kids walk up, I go, ah. Yeah, I've done that before. And it's amazing. It's amazing. If you make yourself look like you're stuffed, dude, the, the trick is put newspaper inside your arms. Around them. So that it crinkles and it's all lumpy looking and then it looks like it's not a person.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Yeah. Oh, it's the best, dude. But also, uh, this game. actually looks pretty decent. I am not a huge fan of these asymmetrical horror games. I've played dead by daylight. It's fine. Like it just doesn't really do it for me. I play Ghostbusters with Ryan and Morgo at one point. Like it, they are fun, but I find them to be fun for very short periods of time. And I'm not trying to poopoo this game because I haven't played it. And I know that people seem to enjoy it. But I just don't know like what makes this different than Friday the 13th or killer clowns or any of these.
Starting point is 00:10:32 I feel like they're just doing the exact same game, but with just different, like, villains? Well, I don't know. The thing with this game is you can't play Friday 13th anymore. The license got revoked, that all went to crap. It was a very popular game. Halloween is, it's pretty much Friday of 13th with a Halloween skin. Like, genuinely, it brings back the very similar gameplay feel,
Starting point is 00:10:57 the same way you play, the same way you experience it, the way you can fight back against Myers. like you could against Jason. It's trying to bring that back to the players since they can't get the old license back, I assume, for Friday 13. Yeah, probably. You know what the, okay,
Starting point is 00:11:11 here's what Michael Myers reminds me of. You know the thing where they're like, would you, you know, for a million dollars, like there's a snail that always chases you across the planet and it never rests, but it moves like a snail. And if it touches you, you die. That's Michael Myers. The dude's slow as anything.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Like, he's got the stupid butcher knife. Like, all I got to do is. is walk at a brisk pace and I'm getting away from this guy. S snail? What are you talking about? Ace knew what I was going about. Yeah. You've never heard this?
Starting point is 00:11:39 Like, yes. You never heard this? Yeah, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Step on the snail. No. It's an immortal.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Yeah, it's an immortal. Surrounded with salt. Surrounded with soul. Oh no. You get like unlimited money and then the snail is going to follow you for the rest of your life. So this. And if it touches you, you will die. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:59 How would you ever sleep? something, well, I mean, it's a snail. You can run, and it moves at a snail's pace. You can run, but it's always moving towards you. Can it swim? Can it swim? Yep. Nothing can stop it. It's a snail can't swim. And it can't die.
Starting point is 00:12:14 Yeah, can't die either. So it's just going to go along the ocean floor and follow you. This is stupid. This is why horror movies are stupid. It's not a horror. It's just a question. No, this is why these are dumb to. Michael Myers is the snail in this scenario. I'm with Josh. I'm with Josh. Yeah. This is so stupid, man.
Starting point is 00:12:31 This is so dumb. You don't understand. He's the embodiment of evil. You don't understand. The shape of evil. He is called his shape. He is. He's, he's, he's, so about, like, six foot five and, like, 240 is the shape of evil.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Jacked in a, in a custodial suit, like, with a mask on. That's. Yeah, he's got stupid clothes, too. He's got that, like, janitor uniform on all the time. And who picks a knife? Like, really, bro? He wears a good. Pick a better weapon?
Starting point is 00:13:00 A better weapon than a knife? A kitchen knife, too. Freddy Kruger's got this freaking sweet claws. Texas chainsaw massacre, at least has like a chainsaw. Hellraiser's got like spikes out of his head and then, and then Mike Myers. Hey, guys, I've got my little butcher knife. I'm going to stab you with. You just call pinhead hellraiser.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Ah, whatever. Tomato tomato. As long as he's not a snail following me. Anyway, the game looks, people seem to be enjoying the game. I have seen some complaints, but for people that like this genre, they do seem to be quite appreciating this game so far. Yeah. It's being appreciated when you're not being a sweat and you're just enjoying it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Also, it has prox chat for both the survivors and the killer. Oh, you got to have prox chat for sure. So now you can hear when Michael Myers is coming after you, which is crazy because Michael Myers is a silent killer. Not if I'm playing. I'm going to get you. I'm going to get you. I'm going to get you. I always feel like some other's
Starting point is 00:14:03 watching. I kind of want to play this game now, just to prox chat as my Paul Myers. Oh, yeah, it's dropping on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X&S on September 8th. I do believe it is fully crossplay as well. Good for them. Good for them.
Starting point is 00:14:21 People love these games. We're happy for you. Like, I just not necessarily for me. Although I do have fun with them in short bursts. I'm going to create a whole new account and then just name him P. Diddy and then be Mike Myers. Mike Myers, Pete Myers, P.D. I'm going to get you. I'm going to get you. Come here.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Come here. You could be Bill Cosby and offer him puddin pops. There you go. You know. All right. We're talking about villains here, not monsters. Now we're talking about the evil, dude. Yeah. It's like, choose your weapon, baby oil or pudding pops.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Ace, continue on. What are you doing? Rain us in. I was trying to. Rain us in. Give me a sec. I was letting you get all your laughter out. And also you've given me a darn challenge with this one.
Starting point is 00:15:15 Sorry. But we're going to be talking about well dweller, which is a. Oh, wait. Okay. Okay, wait a minute. Wait a minute. Because we did say this and we have to clue people in here on this one. We told Ace that he has to explain this game and he cannot use the word hand drawn or
Starting point is 00:15:29 Metroidvania. And just for the listeners out there, This is a hand-drawn Metroidvania, but Ace, you have to describe it not using those words. And, no, I'm adding one. You can't say the aesthetic at any point. Okay. Well, this is a 2D action dark fantasy game
Starting point is 00:15:48 where he plays a little crow with a matchstick exploring the world and taking out horrors beyond your comprehension. This game sounds great. It looks incredible to me. This game sounds amazing. It's got challenging combat, dangerous creatures, and a massive interconnected map that's all about this twisted
Starting point is 00:16:04 fairy tale imagery. How's the imagery look? How would you describe it? Yeah, how would you describe it? Twisted. Twisted? And when you say a giant map, like what kind of games have like really big maps
Starting point is 00:16:16 like that where they're all interconnected? Maybe rogue likes, I guess. Games where you go left to right, like a lot and jump. Games where you open the map. You know, there's a map. I think this game is. actually looks pretty good guys.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Well, Dweller looks really. It does look pretty sweet. The boss fights looked really tough and challenging and fun. The movement mechanics in this game looked fun. Four, and I'll just, your free ace, you can say it now. But for a hand-drawn, a hand-drawn Metroid made with a beautiful aesthetic. He had it all lined up in one, dude. It was like going to explode out of them. That came out like.
Starting point is 00:16:55 The Ace was like, I've never felt relief like that in my life. Oh, I can breathe. Oh, the rocks are off my car. It's been 84 years. It's been 84 years. Oh, man. I've been looking forward to Well Dweller for a while. They dropped a demo not long ago, but I totally ignored it because I want to go into this completely blind.
Starting point is 00:17:13 Just like, just want to enjoy this game. You know, these, this genre seems like it's a dime a dozen, but I really, really like the visuals in this game. The boss fights really do look good. The Metroidvania elements look good. The platforming looks good. Like this is one where it takes a lot to get my attention for one of these. But like I, this one actually looks good enough that it has my attention. And that's saying something.
Starting point is 00:17:40 And I don't know if I like it or not. Right. I do. I love some of the, the way it looks like the mechanics will be. Like there's a spot where I think he throws, I don't know if it's a spear or a matchstick or what into the wall. Yeah. Is it a matchstick? Then you can jump off that to get up.
Starting point is 00:17:58 And, you know, just the. standard, you know, Metroidvania's stuff, but it looks really good. It looks unique, beautiful, the world looks awesome. When I saw them,
Starting point is 00:18:11 it's funny because when I saw them back away to like the map, and they're like, oh yeah, look how big our map is. And I was like, oh, no,
Starting point is 00:18:17 oh, God, no, you know, that turned me off. I'm just going to get lost. I was like, that turned me so off to the game. At least you don't need the compass.
Starting point is 00:18:25 Yeah. That's, yeah, we'll have to, go ahead. The other thing is, the animations in this game really stand out to me. From the boss fights and some of the stuff they showcase,
Starting point is 00:18:34 you kind of have to see the trailer on this to kind of appreciate it. You definitely should watch the trailer. Ryan will put the trailers and all the... Yeah. Check the show notes, the episode description, to see if Ryan remembered this or not. But the trailer might be in there for you. But you...
Starting point is 00:18:52 The trailer, not the Steam links, Ryan. Yeah, the trailer. You're really throwing Ryan off now. He's going to be like, wait, well. But this game looks legitimately really beautiful and really fun. Yeah. And if that didn't sell you on already, is coming from developer Kyle Thompson,
Starting point is 00:19:07 who is known for more wholesome but brightly, and brightly colored metrodinia such as Islitz and Crypt Custodian, which are both very, very good. Never heard of either of those, but. I know you haven't, but I have. Yeah. And that's what matters to do. We're going to take a little bit of a break
Starting point is 00:19:23 before we get to our last three because these ones are, I'm interested to see what you guys say about these ones. But well, oh, I guess well dollar is dropping September 22nd PC, PS5 Xbox Series X&S, Switch 1 and 2. Good. So there's that. There you go. Another, all platforms. Love it.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Yep. And we'll catch you off this break. Don't you wish you could just hit skip on the worst parts of your life? You know the same way you can skip an ad? I get it. I'm Siaia and I live in Ice Cove. I've made some questionable decisions that didn't end up the way I planned. And today I'm still figuring it out.
Starting point is 00:19:58 somehow things usually get worse before they get better apparently that's how I roll so bundle up and come along for the bumpy ride stream a new episode of North of North Tuesdays on CBC gem all right guys we're back with everyone's favorite genre the cozy genre with graveyard keeper too
Starting point is 00:20:23 is a darkly comedic management sim kind of RPG where you're going to build up a graveyard gather the resources, craft, explore, and deal with the dead. What did you think of the? The trailer for this one had me laughing. I'll say that.
Starting point is 00:20:40 This game makes me feel dead inside. You don't even like the trailer where they make fun of cozy games while digging up bodies? They do. And there's the part where it's like the dude starts digging up like kidneys and organs or something like that.
Starting point is 00:20:55 It's just, I don't do these management games, man. This one actually looks pretty good. I can see. why people would be excited for this one. I've actually heard people talk about graveyard keeper in the past. I know people like it. This is just not a Josh kind of game, like at all. It's way too much sim management store, farmville type thing.
Starting point is 00:21:15 You can make the icons look like organs and pieces of corpses and stuff, but it's like, it's still just the same. You can automate it with like zombies and stuff. Like, I mean, it's kind of like satisfactory getting things automated. It feels satisfying. They say no satisfactory. No, it's not like. I will say. Like, you know, personal taste aside,
Starting point is 00:21:36 I think this game actually does look very well done to me. Like the trailer showcases, well, this is like everything that a lot of people want from a game like this. I just feel like it's just so the samey. So not for you. Yeah, just making it corpses and zombies instead of workers and farmhands or whatever just doesn't change it enough for me. Okay. It's also got full voice acting now too, which is worth pointing out because I don't believe the first one did. And you can use the zombies to overrun towns and take them for yourself. Yeah, there is some combat in this, which I think looks good, but it also looks like it's all just automated, like almost like an auto battler combat kind of thing. I don't know. I don't know. There's not enough progression for Josh. Maybe. I mean, there probably is actually a lot of progression in these, but it's not the kind I like. So it's just chores. Where do you sit with this one, Ryan?
Starting point is 00:22:29 I'm in line with Josh on that Like I just These are just Like he said it looks It looks pretty decent And if you like this style of game You'll probably like this one It looks neat and unique
Starting point is 00:22:42 And like you said I think they're gonna have A lot of voice acting stuff now Which is really cool You don't get that a lot in these types of games But it's just It's not to me And this is not
Starting point is 00:22:53 It's kind of disparaging They're kind of bad against these games But this is This reminds me of like early 2000s Flash games. Yeah, Farmville on Facebook. Just this is, yeah, this is what you would play for free because you had no money.
Starting point is 00:23:08 It's true. No way. Yeah. You were cool. See, Josh, I know. I'm just second I started to describe it, that's exactly what Josh knew what I was going to describe. So like. Farmville doesn't have a communist donkey that brings you corpies.
Starting point is 00:23:22 So whatever. Okay, it's a donkey instead of whatever else. Like, yeah. You know what? Now we're going to trash this game. You know, yeah. You know what? You try to stand up for this ace.
Starting point is 00:23:34 No, if you like this. I stand up for the cozy. I always called graveyard keeper like men's Stardue Valley. Like honestly, this is 100% a good way to put it. It's kind of like the body wash company is trying to make the bottle look black and name it something cool. So the guys would be like, oh yeah, let me buy this men's body wash. And it's still just so people, you know, but. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Yeah. But Graveyard Keeper 2 drops same day as Well Dweller, September 22nd, also PC, PS5, Xbox Series, X&S, and both switches. Thanks, September 22nd. Pick it up for all your goths. Oh, not all the goths. I might butcher the name for this one. A game called Navalis Nights. It is a restaurant sim where you'll grow your business, manage the restaurant and nightclubs, make friends and enemies.
Starting point is 00:24:26 and you know you have an apartment you go fishing you make you fall in love it's basically dave the diver yeah i'm gonna say you don't call this dave the diver's cyberpunk edition like it's cyberpunk dave the diver uh it it it's very interesting and there's also a serial killer running around you got to watch out for which is kind of cool that's all part of the story and you can play chess and you can play chess and you go fishing that's all that matters this game kind of looks kind of good guys it does actually it looks like it stands out for me the visuals in this are There's the first person perspective. The Dave the Diverr vibes are absolutely just there.
Starting point is 00:25:02 That's exactly with the comparison I made when I'm watching this trailer is this is 100% somebody took cyberpunk and Dave the diver and went, let's just smash them together and then see what happens. And then this game that looks pretty decent came out of this. And I think I kind of like it, man. The thing is I haven't heard anyone talking about this. I haven't heard nothing. First I've ever heard of this. And this game looks legit enough that I feel like more people should be talking about it. Maybe it's the restaurant sim part.
Starting point is 00:25:34 See, I'm not big on the sim stuff. I think the restaurant stuff kind of gets to people. And those who didn't like that part of Dave the diver aren't going to like it here either, obviously. But they show you on a boat. They show you fishing going out in the water, like bringing the food back to your restaurant. Like you said nightclubs, like where you have nightclubs you're buying and managing and stuff like that. Like there's a lot going on here. There's world exploration from a first person perspective while you're walking around the cyberpunk city and finding clues and businesses to buy and things like that.
Starting point is 00:26:06 It's generally a very unique game. Yeah, it really is. A game that actually stands out and uses like the cyberpunk setting and doesn't just feel like every other cyberpunk game. Yeah. That's a rare find. And even more than cyberpunk, like I get a lot of fifth element like the, the, with the cars flying across. Like you can see it in the big thing. The big thing that I'm concerned about is that it says planned release date, September 29th.
Starting point is 00:26:31 That's three weeks. That is the next. And it's planned date? They don't have a, it's like, no, I think they always show it like that. Yeah. Okay. Okay, then. I was just like, man, how do they not?
Starting point is 00:26:44 It's three weeks, guys. We got to crack down on this. Yeah, it's going to be released on September 29th. And it is only coming to PC, which it had to been one. There had to have been one game that's only coming to PC. I will say this. If it's the game no one's ever heard of. Watch the trailer for this.
Starting point is 00:26:59 This game looks impressive. Impressive might be the best way I can describe it because of how many different systems there are and how they make it all kind of tie together. I'm not saying I'm going to play it because it's coming out a few days before Galactic Racer, but this is one that I had no idea existed before Ace gave us this link. And then I watched it. I went, there is a good video game here. I agree.
Starting point is 00:27:22 The world actually looks pretty dang. cool and fleshed out. People on screen, too. Would you say you like the aesthetic, Ryan? It's not a Metroidvania, so it's, I don't know. I wish I could, like, manually edit my own book. If it was more hand-drawn, if it was more hand-drawn than maybe, I don't know. Yeah, this is more pixel art.
Starting point is 00:27:42 This was more like cyberpunk pixel art. Anyway, on to the last game. Toem, too. It's a charming photography adventure focused on exploration, puzzles, quirky little characters, capturing the world through your camera. You'll solve puzzles with the camera. You'll take pictures. It's just a good little time.
Starting point is 00:28:00 It's definitely not your kind of game, but I think it does have a quality. I think the good little time is like the key note there. Like it does. It seems like a neat little game that, I don't know what we don't have a price on this one. If it was.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Guys, heck if I know. If it was something. It was free 99. This game looks like, but dude. Really? You didn't like it?
Starting point is 00:28:23 I actually thought it looks pretty cool. I thought it was cool. Dude, the animations. Now, number one, we know why Ace is bringing this. Ryan, if you had to guess, take one guess why Ace added this game to this list. Out of all the games, what would be the one reason why this game is absolutely on Ace's indie list? There's one quality about this game that we know Ace loves, and it ain't rats, Ryan. What is it?
Starting point is 00:28:48 Because it's black and white. Black and white rubber host style or whatever. Ace loves black and white games. I did what would you call what would you call when you're looking at something and it has a certain type of look or something it's it starts with an a it's like the um aesthetic aesthetic aesthetic of the game aesthetic of the game maybe you and write an apology letter to your children oh they'll be fine don't worry they'll be fine i know there's going to be people that love this and i just this is the kind of where i was watching this trailer and i'm like how hard do i well the first one did good enough to get a secret budd that's what amazes me i i'm not with you on this one dude i thought it looked kind of cool like i overwhelmingly positive by the way am i going to play it no yeah not at all but i do i do
Starting point is 00:29:37 think i think genuinely it looks like a really neat cool looking game you like games without color really poor animations and uh it's not poor animation this is the style it's good animation for what it is yes there is yes because there's depth to that world there's depth to like the the what they have and like the I know I always mention it but the water there's a waterfall and it looks good man there the animation is quality a good looking waterfall is what sold Ryan I'm just saying I'm not that's not a creative cozy little adventure I don't think there's a reason to take it to Zee's and the first game was 20 bucks yeah yeah chill out bro chill out bro.
Starting point is 00:30:21 All right, Mr. Big Gator guy. I'm rewatching the trailer because I wanted to go, you know what? Let me just make sure. At one point, here's where it gets really stupid is you take a picture of a cloud that slowly turns into a bumblebee.
Starting point is 00:30:34 And it turns into a B. Oh, this is such riveting gameplay. Yeah. I hate everything about this. I've decided. I hate everything about this. I hate it all you want. September 29th, it's coming to
Starting point is 00:30:49 PC, PS5, Xbox series X-N-S, and the Switch. So, yeah. Get bent. Suck it, nerd. Boom. Probably going to make a ton of money. We got six Indies on the list here. Which ones are you guys most excited about? If you were going to pick one up, which one do you pick up?
Starting point is 00:31:04 Oh, well dweller for me, by far. By far. Navalus Knights has, like, curiosity peaked with Navalis Knights could be incredible. But if I'm putting money on, like, which game would I like and I think is the best looking game out of this bunch, it's Well Dweller by about a mile. I'd say Well Dweller as well for me is very highly anticipated. If I had to pick a different
Starting point is 00:31:25 one, I'm more into A-Sim games than you guys are, so I'm not too known. Halloween. The public, the general gaming public, is probably hyped for Halloween over everything else. Exactly. That's what I was going to say. I'm a well-dwellers' mind as well. And then I was going
Starting point is 00:31:41 to say just for playing with the crew and the friends and the the listeners of the show and like the you know whatever we can get together being able to play halloween with everybody would be a blast too so that would be you know kind of second on the list but just solo game well dweller is looks pretty solid i agree all right and just to recap all those games for everyone here that was moonlighter to the endless vault Halloween the game well dweller graveyard keeper to navallis knights and to em to josh was a little mean to to him to everyone everyone boo him in the comments for that.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Don't boo me because that's, I'm right. I'm right on this. Why are you booing me? They couldn't even afford color. Like if you can't afford color when you're developing your game, how well developed is your game? It's a design choice, bro. Yeah, sure. Yeah, so we don't have to try to color everything because that's, that's so hard to color things.
