Hello fellow gamers and welcome to the Video Gamers Podcast.
Sometimes the best part of gaming is just chatting with friends over the latest news,
game releases, or even stupid gaming questions. When you have a group of friends and you're all talking about that latest hit release,
or secret level you found, that boss fight you just beat,
or just stupid topics like which character would make the best roommate,
those are the topics that matter,
and that's what we do in our SideQuest episodes. It's a mix of gaming questions,
thoughts, and topics to bring out the laughs and the truly important topics
we as gamers love to chat about. Before we get into this show, though,
some introductions are in order. I am your host, Josh, and and joining me you might find him crying in a corner after his latest
diablo 2 hardcore run ended in the blink of an eye it's ryan oh why you gotta do me like that
man i came in in a good mood uh come on sorry all right so for people that don't know ryan has been
cracking on diablo 2 hardcore runs, right?
Yes.
And how many characters have you gone through?
I think five or six.
Five or six.
And they are always followed up with a video from you.
Yeah, I do.
I do that.
You share where I just see you scrambling around.
I don't know what build you're running, but you're
shooting out lightning bolts like a madman. And then I have learned to just watch your health bar,
you know, your little health sphere in this case. And then just all of a sudden you're fine,
you're fine. And one second later you're dead. And then I just hear, Oh no, it's pretty instant.
Yeah. It's man. I never thought i'd get that sucked into i
mean it's in my top 10 of all time it's one of my favorite games ever but i never thought i'd get
this sucked back into like a game but the hardcore part of it makes it just so scary and sweaty that
i just love it because everything can just matter yeah one death is your toast man so
every and i know this game inside and out i know where i can't go i can't go i know the bugs uh
nightmare famously has some fire enchant um bugs that will even at level 80 or 90 will just instant
kill you in nightmare so there's a bunch of stuff you have to watch out for and i still i just keep
that's what i every day that's what i want to play more than
anything i'm still cracked out and every time i die i need like 15 minutes to cool down and then
i go and i start another character i do wonder when it's finally going to get to you and you're
just going to be like that was it that was the last one i can't do this again i can't be hurt
again i can only take so much pain you know I have never played a game in hardcore mode where when you die, your character is just lost.
I don't know that I have that in me, man.
Oh, it's hard, especially when it's something dumb or silly like this one, most recent one.
We were cruising around.
I mean, I wasn't a crazy high level, but I think I was the the high 50s or early 60s um level caps 99 but to go
from 98 to 99 is almost the same amount of xp uh as going all the way to 98 so it's it's quite a
grind at the higher levels but you know around 60 and i just turned a corner and my buddy that was
kind of helping rush me through just was teleporting teleported away and then before he could get back i just got surrounded in like three shot boom boom boom dead there's not not a thing i could
have done um and it's just you just sit there and you look at the screen and it's like you have died
and you're like oh no see it's weird because i love a challenge right i love elden ring i like
dark souls i like any game that presents a challenge
to me i do not mind dying or failing you know 20 times to try to beat something but i need that
like fist pump moment of beating that boss or beating that level for it to like pay off for me
and i think with hardcore mode like if i die and i'm just dead i don't get that fist pump moment
that i need as a gamer but I don't get that fist pump moment
that I need as a gamer.
But I don't know
because I've never actually tried one.
So I might have to try a game just to see.
In my own brain,
I feel like I would just hate it.
And I'd be like,
well, just waste it all that time, man.
That's what makes it so scary.
You don't want to waste it.
I had just equipped a ton of gear
that I was waiting for.
And so I had it on for a few levels.
And on it now, there's shared loot spaces.
So if you die, you can have gear saved up for another run.
But you have to have it in there.
And if you're wearing it, it's gone forever.
So yeah, it's interesting.
I may taper off, but we'll see.
So other than Diablo 2, have you been playing anything lately?
Since we finished up Astro Bot, I've still been getting in a little bit,
just kind of unlocking the other levels.
I looked for the lost level.
I found a couple, but not the triangle one or the specialty ones yet
that you were talking about.
But other than that, Space Marine 2, we've just been getting in on that,
which I think we're going to cover.
So, yeah, we've got to get some time in and beat that bad boy.
Yeah. I've been playing with a good friend of the show, Andy. I've been playing with him almost
daily. We haven't had a ton of time to really dive into it for a long time, but we run a mission or
two and then it's like, hey, life comes up and we kind of have to bail out. But it has definitely
been fun so far. But you
and I need to get in there too, because I want to definitely be able to talk about some of those
moments in that game also. For me, other than Space Marine 2, I am in the thick of it in
Overwatch again, dude. How are you? I don't know how I got sucked back into this, man. People have
heard me talk about this. I famously uninstalled. I rage quit Overwatch for like six months, dude. I mean, I'm talking
rage uninstalled. I hate this game. I hate Blizzard. I will never play this game again.
I cleared every Blizzard game off my computer. Then my kids started playing it and then they
started playing it together, which is really crazy because they have very
different game takes.
And then one day, my two daughters come to me and they said, Dad, you should play Overwatch
with us.
And I kind of went, yeah, I don't think so.
And then they're like, oh, come on, it'll be fun.
And I finally broke down and I started playing with them again.
And now almost nightly, we have like four people to play Overwatch. And it has made the game
infinitely better to me because I'm not relying on randoms. And a lot of nights,
we have a full five pack that we can play with. So it's a completely different experience for me
right now, just having people that I know playing the game. And so as much as it pains me, dude,
to admit this and to say this publicly
on record but i am really having a lot of fun with overwatch back in baby
i feel like i need to brush my teeth or something after saying that but it it is true man so what
are you gonna do and i i never was like um i've been playing fortnite as well because it's the
same situation uh my daughter got into it and she i'll walk by and I've been playing fortnight as well because it's the same situation. Uh,
my daughter got into it and she,
I'll walk by and she's been playing on her own,
um,
recently.
And then her and my son will play and then we'll all hop in.
Let's get some trios,
which my son famously calls three O's.
Let's get some three O's on,
you know?
So it is so much,
uh,
there's,
there's so much,
much of a difference when you're playing with your kids or,
or, you know, people, you you know as family and stuff like that.
But when it's with your kids and you're just getting on and you get to have that kind of ritual where you all play together and you have stories and jokes to talk about from the games you played, it does make a difference.
I will say I know that we have a lot of gamer moms and gamer dads out there that listen to this show and there
is something special about being able to play a game with your kids that's not minecraft
you know yeah yeah yeah and it's crazy to me because now i you know i'm a i'm a little bit
of an older gamer my kids are my oldest is 17 and my youngest is 14. And my oldest can whoop me at Overwatch, dude.
There came a day where I was talking smack and she was very scared.
And I was like 1v1 me.
And she was like, oh, I mean, you're going to crush me.
But okay.
And then she wrecked me, dude.
That's awesome.
And it was like this moment where I was just like, oh, no.
Like, what's happened? I've been surpassed. Yeah. And then I just told her, I was like, I was just like, oh no! What's happened? I've been
surpassed. Yeah, and then I just told her,
I was like, I was really tired today. I had a long day at work.
You better be glad I'm not well-rested
or I would have whooped you.
It's crazy because they're actually good
at the game, which makes it a lot of fun.
I think any parent can relate that,
hey, if you play a game with your kids and they're really bad,
it's like, okay.
They're good! And it just heightens it even more for me. So it's been a lot of fun.
Okay. So for anybody that hasn't ever heard one of these side quest episodes before Ryan,
they're kind of all over the place. We like to have fun with it. But how would you describe
one of these episodes to somebody that might be tuning in for the first time?
This is more of a, I would say, kind of laid back couch talk like this is everybody just
going over not only just games that we are excited about games we've been playing um weird questions
about uh what would you do in this situation you know anything like that and then even sometimes
we always love to throw in some food questions too on these side quests. So yeah, it's definitely something that's just
kind of, kind of a hangout chill mode. Let's just, let's just talk games.
It is, in my opinion, like this, this podcast literally started from this exact thing. It was
us talking about just gaming in general, you know, being at a friend's house
for a game night or something like that. And then, Hey dude, have you played this game or,
Oh man, it's awesome. And it's like, this is what gamers do is we talk about these topics
and these subjects and we ask questions and we say, you know, Hey dude, like what's your favorite
console or, you know, like those sorts of questions. So this is like natural gamer chat
almost that like everybody does. And we just, we have such a good time with it that we really
enjoy these and our listeners generally really enjoy these as well. So they're a lot of fun to
do. I know we look forward to them because they're, they are, they're more laid back.
They're less structured than some of our other episodes. And we get to get a little silly on some things like the best kind of fries that we're going to talk about
later. I'm excited about that one. All right, Ryan. So I do want to start off with this one
because this is kind of a big question here. Look, all the games that we were hyped for,
this big trio of Star Wars Outlaws, Space Marine 2, Astro Bot. They've come, they've gone. We've played
some of them. We haven't played Outlaws and maybe that'll come later on in the year.
But it's like, now we have the rest of the year to look at. And it's like, what's next?
What are you excited for now? All the big releases have kind of come and gone.
And that is not to say that there's not some great games coming out,
but we had this chunk of games that I know that we were excited for.
So it's like now for the rest of the year,
what game is at the top of your hype meter?
Yeah.
August and September have been crazy so far,
but I know in October Diablo four vessel of hatred comes out.
Vessel of hatred.
Yep. I am am excited i don't
it's it would be weird to click diablo 4 instead of diablo 2 on my desktop um when i when i go over
there because i don't even i still haven't installed but i you know i haven't played it
in a little while so um i am excited i am excited with the the different changes they made the
updates one thing that i'm really stoked for and i cannot
wait uh november 20th stalker 2 i i i really want to play this i so yeah i really want to play this
game and i've this has been on my on my kind of radar if you will for you know quite a while
ever since i saw just the dark gritty nature of it in that trailer man it's just it's
something that and i never played the first one so i'm really excited to get just a fresh kind of
a new wide eyes wide open experience on it i'm with you on that stalker 2 is on my list as well
i never played the first one either okay so i really don't know what to expect yeah you know
like i have played i can't remember which one.
It might have been Metro Exodus or Metro 2033,
or I can't remember the Metro games.
But these single-player, first-person,
story-based shooters, I guess, is the kind of genre.
Crisis of old for some of the older gamers.
Crisis would be kind of an example of that as well.
So it's like Stalker 2 gets me really hyped
when I see the trailers and stuff for it.
And I like the fact that, as odd as this sounds,
that they delayed it to make it better
and to not clash with some other game releases and stuff.
So it kind of gives me faith in the developer.
I just don't know what to expect.
In my brain, I expect it to be great.
Like you said, this dark, gritty, supernatural experience in my brain, I expect it to be great. Like you said,
this dark,
gritty,
supernatural experience and story and characters.
And it's a shooter and the gunplay looks good.
And,
but I just don't know,
you know,
I do think stalker two is at the top of my list.
Here's the thing.
I know that we know dragon age veil Guard is coming out on October 31st,
releases on Halloween. And I am trying to will myself to be hyped for Dragon Age Veil Guard.
But every time I watch a video, my brain just goes, well, that's not Dragon Age.
Yeah.
And I know that people that have been fans of the show have heard me kind of
waffling on, on this game and then kind of complaining that they took away the ability
to control your party members. And we're going to talk about dragon age a little bit later.
So I don't want to get too much into that because it's actually one of the topics that we'll cover
today, but dragon age veil guard is up there for me, but I don't think it's at the top either.
So that's fair, which I know't think it's at the top either.
Yeah, that's fair.
Which I know is probably crazy to some people.
Sorry, Allie, if you're listening.
She's a huge Dragon Age fan.
Sorry, Paul, because I know Paul is listening too.
Veilguard.
Yeah, the Veilguard.
Oh, man.
Okay, Ryan.
So there is one other game that I actually looked up to see if there was any sort of confirmation that it was coming out in 2024, because I know this would probably be at the top of your list as well. And that's
the alters. Oh yeah. Supposed to come out in 2024. Now, if the alters comes out and they says,
Hey guys, we're releasing December 16th, let's say, is it at the top of your list or is stalker
two still above it? Oh yeah, no No, it would surpass Stalker 2.
Not by a ton
because I am really excited for Stalker 2,
but having played Alters...
That's the kicker, right?
...and the experience we had
and we all just sat,
we're like,
man, I can't get enough of this.
This is awesome.
The tree, the history tree
and the way you can go through it.
Yeah, everything about that game
was awesome.
So that would definitely shoot right up to the top.
As crazy as it is, it would for me as well.
Like playing the demo, and I think the demo is still available.
So if you're wondering what the heck we're talking about right now, go check out the demo, man.
Because that's not even really my kind of game by default.
But man, there was something about the alters that really got its hooks in me. So yeah, I'm with you on that one. All right, Ryan, let's move on here.
You know, retro gaming, we're again, we're a little bit older. We've been gaming for a while.
And famously, I tell the story about how I saved up all my money for, it seemed like a year,
it was probably just a summer. But I saved up my money to buy a Nintendo, went to the store, convinced my parents to take me there.
And when I showed up, there were no Nintendos, but there was a pallet full of Segas right next
to where the Nintendos were. And like some idiot kid did, I couldn't wait and just come back like
three days later. So I bought a Sega instead and I never wound up with a Nintendo when I was a kid.
But was there ever a game console that you wished you had had when you were a kid or, you know,
maybe a teenager or something like that, that you just missed out on and you still look back and
you go, man, if only I had been able to get blank. Yeah, Yeah. For me, it was, again, an older system
that I had actually went to a blockbuster and rented because I didn't have one. And it was the
N64. So growing up, I had, you know, I had like you, I had the Sega, so I never had a Nintendo.
And then I never had a 64 I had a PlayStation and um yeah
I just we it was one of those that there was you know GoldenEye, Perfect Dark you know all these
all these legendary games that that you can just you know play couch that was a prime of couch
co-op I would always go to you know Paul's wife Nikki my cousin I would always go over to their
house every weekend and then all summer usually.
And they had a 64, and that's what we would just play hours and hours on.
And so it wasn't that big of a deal because I didn't have one because I was always over there.
But I did always want one, and I just never got around to getting one.
I had a Nintendo 64, and let me tell you man you missed
out it's pretty sweet right you missed out that console thank you thank you rub it in sorry sorry
um yeah i mean just so many iconic games dude goldeneye alone with your buddies four player
four controllers all hooked up man oh such good time one of the worst controllers ever though
oh it was terrible. So bad.
But nobody cared because you could all play together.
It's weird.
My initial one on this one,
the one that popped into my head initially was obviously Nintendo.
Like I said, saved up my money, was an impatient kid,
made a huge mistake. I feel like that could have changed the course of my life
if I had gotten a Nintendo versus a Sega.
I'd probably be president or
something right now you know god um but you know contra was the big game that i remember playing
at a friend's house for that one but then i started thinking about it and i'm like i had
friends that had the nintendos and we just go play over at their house so i didn't feel like
i really missed out a whole lot and the more i thought about this, the more I thought a Game Boy. I never had a Game
Boy. Really? Ever. Like ever, dude. And all my friends had Game Boys, but a Game Boy is not like
it's not like a Nintendo where you're both playing it at the same time kind of thing. You had to like
pass the Game Boy to your friend. And it was just something where I don't know, maybe it's a little
more personal. Like I don't remember ever even borrowing like a friend's Game Boy or something. I think at one point I played like a round of Tetris on a buddy's
Game Boy or something. So I think that's the console that I feel like I missed out on.
And honestly, I think maybe not having had a Game Boy is why I don't do mobile gaming like at all.
Like I just missed that window, you know and it's like we again you
know we talk about like rewriting history and it's like if i had gotten a game boy at some point
would i have like would i be a mobile gamer now yeah yeah no that's so that's one of the systems
i did have i had a game i had the original like brick game boy and i looked like you know a 90s
hacker with that thing i had the attachments and all the
all the different little light you know I was like yeah I had all I had everything you could
imagine for that just to play Pokemon you know and but I did have a few other you know games I
had little cases for all of them so I definitely had the Game Boy but I don't know though because
I'm I'm not a mobile gamer now so yeah that's true i i do the other thing i wonder is would i
would i be more appreciative of pokemon if i had had a game boy probably you know because it was
probably because that was the game yeah there was nothing like it walking around being able to just
you know play you know play pokemon wherever and i was i gotta tell this real quick my friend's mom growing up in a fifth or sixth grade so this
is uh this is like late 90s early 2000s um she worked at Toys R Us and they got like you know
quote-unquote shipment in of Mewtwos on the Game Boy game and we went in and we were the first
people to get them transferred to our Game Boys so So when we rolled up to school the next day
and we had Mewtwos on our Game Boys,
we were the king of the world, man.
It was the coolest thing.
Oh, man.
Got that hookup.
Yeah, we had the hookup for sure.
That's awesome.
So, all right, listen, we got some more questions,
but we're going to take a short break
and then we'll come back with more.

Ryan, a little bit different style question
for you on this one,
but I am very curious to hear your answer on this.
What is the worst job that's actually a job
that exists is like a career a job that you could imagine having like what's the thing you would
least like to do is for a living that you can possibly imagine man see this is a hard one
because i i work in construction um i own a small company doing you know floor coatings
and overlays and stuff and so i am at a lot of construction sites and let me tell you a lot of
construction workers must eat some crazy things because those port-a-johns those are pretty gnarly
man those need some cleaning and to have that job to have to go in behind these guys and and you
know god bless them they they build homes and all in behind these guys and, you know, God bless them.
They build homes all across America and they do, you know, the Lord's work providing structures for everybody.
But, dude, I don't know what it is, but the smell that comes out of those things sometimes if the wind's hitting wrong, you know, and I'm in a garage, I'm like, oh, my gosh, what the heck is that?
So that's one that would be really hard for me and then secondly um i i
know there's a lot of people probably listening that are either doing this right now at your job
or or do this for profession i could not be a cubie i could not sit in a cubicle all day
and just a quarterback i was like dude that sounds like a great job oh that i would love i'd love
slinging the rock for sure but uh no a cubicle worker where I just sit and just punch on a keyboard all day in an office, like I couldn't – it's not in my nature to just sit and do that.
Like you had said on one of our old episodes about tasks and lists and stuff, I just – what do I have to do?
Let me get it done and then go about my day I couldn't just sit in a little like you know six by six cell basically and punch numbers yeah I did that
for a few years I worked for auto insurance and I had a cubicle and did that part for a while until
I kind of got out of the office part and into the field part of it uh-huh it's it's not I will say
like it's not my cup of tea either, but the people that you work with
are what make it. So it's like, if you get along with your coworkers and stuff, the work itself
isn't terrible and you're kind of wandering around and goofing off and stuff like that too. So
I get it. For me, this is easy, a professional mover. Dude, I can't think of things I hate more
in life than having to move. The buddy that's like, Hey man, I'm moving. You think you could come help me this weekend and, you know, help me move. And I'm just like,
Oh no. And you and I are both yes people. Like it's really hard for us to say no to somebody.
So it's like, if somebody asked me, I'm going to be like, sure, man, I can help you out. But I
cannot think of something I would rather do less than like moving a couch out of a house or like carrying boxes to and from the moving truck. And
I just, I don't know why. Oh, it's so bad. Just the worst. I have had some crappy jobs, dude.
I've picked blueberries in the summertime in Louisiana. I have scrubbed, I've cleaned up poop
at a zoo. You know what I mean? So, and I'm talking like major poop at a zoo you know what i mean so and i'm talking like major poop at a zoo because
some of these animals are quite large and it's like and i would rather do that than have to move
people man dude it's the worst i don't know what it is too i like you said i i can't i have a hard
time saying no so everyone for whatever reason always asks me and i've always had a truck pretty
much so i'm always that guy oh ryan will help us move and you know it's one of
those things like i don't really mind it but i definitely don't want to do it and uh if if you're
gonna ask somebody to help you move just a little psa out there have everything packed don't don't
expect that people to help you move to show up and then help you pack as well uh i love my brother
but uh one day i helped i showed up on the third floor,
mind you,
to help him move.
And then he's like,
okay,
those can go into those boxes.
And I just looked around
and nothing was packed.
And I was like,
what do you mean those can go in those boxes?
That's where I would just leave.
I would be like,
dude,
when you're ready for help,
let me know,
but I'm not packing your boxes for you.
I'm not here to pack for you,
bud.
Yeah.
All right, quick hitter, Ryan.
Would you rather relive the heyday of World of Warcraft
or your first playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2?
I was not happy with you when you sent this question over
because we do our show preps.
Josh kind of makes a lot of the outlines, and he sent this, and like man i know he he did that just for me i did he did that
because the emotional connection i have to red dead and and what i feel about to me it's the
greatest game ever made it's the greatest game i've ever played um in every aspect but also wow the just the time frame the era the the way the game was the economy
i know i always talk about but the economy in that game when it genuinely like if someone was to like
if you could have done it and robbed someone it would have felt like real money to me like that's
how much the economy was in the game i was a young teenager so it's so hard to pick between the two
i played it a ton with i mean i have hundreds if not thousands of hours with paul in that game when
we were younger but the just the connection and maybe the the newness if you will of red dead
it just puts it a little bit up there for me it's it's just that kind of that
next level i get it yeah i just i i kind of use this i say god of war for me because i like god
of war it's my favorite game of all time so god of war everquest i know that's why i was gonna say
so for me it's tough because i i i would actually pick everquestest in that regard just because there was nothing that blew my mind in gaming,
like,
like realizing what an MMO was and that all these other people were
actually people playing this game with me.
And back then when,
you know,
when MMOs were new,
people had to work together and they had to kind of form their own
community and their own market and stuff.
Like we didn't have an auction house
like World of Warcraft did and stuff like that.
So it was a really incredible time.
I mean, that game is terrible in my memory in a lot of ways,
but at the same time,
it's like the greatest experience in a lot of ways too.
So for me, I think I would pick that
as much as I love God of War, man,
and just being enthralled with that. that as much as I love God of War, man, and just being
enthralled with that. All right. We're running out of time, but we did promise we would touch
on Dragon Age Veilguard. The question is simple. Are you excited for this game?
So I know you talked about it earlier about how this isn't Dragon Age. Look at it. It's not,
you can't do this. You can't do that. For someone like me,
I've never played a Dragon Age.
So to me, it all looks,
you know, just kind of whatever the game is now.
I don't have any past,
you know, kind of opinions on it.
And I kind of like
what I've seen recently.
You know, it's not,
you know, it's not anything crazy.
I don't have those past
kind of prejudices
on what it should be or what I feel it needs to be. And those past kind of prejudices prejudices on on what it should be
or what i feel it needs to be and and i'm kind of getting excited i need to stop being such a stick
in the mud when it comes to like this isn't dragon age what have you done with my dragon age kind of
thing like i i fully admit that like we just got a 22 minute video um where they were showing off some more exploration
and more gameplay this is after the 20 minute video that we got you know where they kind of
unveiled the gameplay and part of me is watching it and i feel like i'm just the grouchy old man
that's going like you're just mad that's not my that's not my party member i can't control them
i don't care about your stupid combos that i can do. I can't control my party, you know? And then I'm sitting there and then I'm like, ah, I sound like such a grump, man.
Yeah.
But then it's like, I know this game still looks really good.
Like it just take the dragon age name away.
If you called it whatever, you know what I mean?
I think if you called it anything else in the world, I'd be like, dude, this game looks
great.
Ryan, have you seen this game coming out like doesn't it look really cool so i need to get over my grumpiness
with this because i do think the game itself really looks fun i just am having a hard time
doing the like you know they're showing the combo system and i'm like but i'm not controlling that
guy yeah you know and then it's like, but it's probably going to be great.
I'm sure.
Yeah, I'm sure.
And it's, I mean, that just shows your connection to the game
and how much passion you have for it.
Like I read recently that I think somewhere in a new update,
or they may have already done it in Diablo 4,
they're changing your character selection screen.
And in my brain, I went, what?
What are you?
You can't do that.
I'm like, like no it's been
the characters around the campfire for 25 years you're not changing that you know and but it's
it's i mean at the end of the day what really does that matter you know but it's like no that's
it's like that's my game that's my character screen you can't change that from what i think
it should be so yeah i i get it i get your connection to it and your passion with uh with what you think
it should look like but it's a win-win because if the game comes out and it's not that great i
totally get to be like i told you guys so they ruined it they ruined dragon age and if it comes
out and it's great well then it's like oh sweet this game's awesome like yeah dragon i knew it
oh i believed it i was just you know i was just a little upset
yeah exactly all right listen we're quickly running out of time but we have to get to
a couple very important questions here ryan if you can only brush your teeth once a day
is it better to do it at night before you go to bed or do it in the morning before you leave for work? Oh, man.
I'm going night before bed.
Having to sit in bed after you're ready to kind of wind down and be done.
You want to feel fresh and good to fall asleep.
Yeah, I can't have a grimy mouth.
Plus that morning breath if you didn't brush your teeth the night before.
Yeah.
I agree with you 100%. But I'm doing it before I leave for work because
in my mind, I don't want to be the dude with stinky breath all day. And if I, if I, if I brush
them at night and then I woke up and then I went to work and I'm like the dude with terrible breath,
I think that'd be worse in my opinion. At least you're home if you have bad breath, otherwise,
you know? Yeah. All right. And this one is, this one's absolutely crazy to me because I completely
understand that these are the same thing.
But one of them is way worse than the other one, in my opinion.
So I want to see what you think.
Ryan, what's worse?
Watching three two-hour movies back-to-back or binging a show where you watch six one-hour episodes back-to-back?
What's worse?
Yeah, which one's worse so worst would be probably
oh man probably three two-hour movies i mean i guess i'm a i'm a show binger dude i know but
it's six hours no matter what it's literally six hours of watching tv but why is watching three
movies i don't know worse than it is like binging a show for like six,
one hour? I don't know. My wife won't, she won't like, if we have a, you know, we'll always have
some sort of TV show we're watching. She won't start one with me at like eight o'clock. Cause
I'll be like another one, another one, another one. Next thing you know, it's like 1130 or 12.
And she's like, I have to go to bed. I'm like, come on, just, just one more.
I don't know what it is, dude, but it is way worse to say I'm like come on just just one more i don't know what it is dude but it is way worse
to say i'm gonna watch three two hour movies yeah than it is to be like i'm enamored of this show
and we're just one more one more and then it's six hours later we've done that like my wife and
i have seriously binge watched some episodes but if i was like let's watch the whole lord of the
rings you know what i mean she'd be like oh no and then in my brain i'm like no that's
terrible we can't do that but it's nothing to just watch like six episodes of the show
i don't know i just thought that one was funny i wanted to see if you thought the same thing
it's like that you said that it's like when that's like uh hey do you want to eat half a dozen eggs
and a cup of mayonnaise it's like no okay well what if i make it into deviled eggs it's like
i'm in baby yeah i'll eat a dozen of those. Yeah, exactly.
All right, and then one last question,
the all-important food question.
When it comes to French fries,
I need you to rank these in order of best to worst, Ryan.
Okay.
We're going to go with the shoestring fry.
All right, for people that know Freddy's,
this is a teeny
little french fries where you gotta kind of bundle like six of them together to make a normal french
fry we've got you just your normal fast food french fries think burger king mcdonald's whatever
you've got your crinkle cuts which is what you get at like raising canes or culvers
all right and then you got your steak fries which is what you get at like red robin i don't know if
there's a fast food place that does steak fries maybe waffle fries from like chick-fil-a would be equivalent
you know but like your thicker like potatoey type fry put those in order from best to worst for me
ryan so best to worst uh best is uh far and away shoestring fries i i love yeah mad man i love that
thin crisp to it.
The thinner, the better.
Nothing like it.
You can just grab a pinch with your first three fingers and then your thumb.
And then it's like six of them at once and scoop them into whatever sauce you're dipping them in.
That's primo right there.
Do you tuck them in your cheek like a chew, Ryan?
You should. Because they're just shredded French fries.
Dude, I tell you.
Well, here's the thing, and this is
why. This is why I love those the best.
Because next, regular fries,
just good old classic. The last
two that are 10,000
leagues lower than the first
two is steak fries
and waffle fries or
crinkle fries. If I want
potato, I'll just eat a potato.
I don't want a big mushy kind of
little light crisp on the outside type of fry that's not a fry that to me that's just like
just kind of crispy potatoes it's like a wedge yeah like like the wedges and all those i don't
i in and out um i don't like their fries i don't like the waffle fries at chick-fil-a i'd rather
not eat it than eat it you know then eat those types of things. So yeah, to me, those are
far and away just bottom, bottom
tier for fries. Well, you're a mad
man because shoestring fries are at the bottom
of my list. Those are way
too much work, dude. Who wants to
try? I grabbed 10 of them.
That's why you grab them like that.
I try to dip them and then I can't dip
them all at once and then it's just terrible.
Get a fork, dude. Boom, stab them. You can get like six at once. Who eats it's just terrible. Get a fork, dude.
Boom.
Stab them. You can get like six at once.
That just proves the point.
If I got to use a fork to eat French fries, those things belong at the bottom.
So for me at the top are just your normal French fries, dude.
Give me Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's fries.
It's the perfect mix of crispiness and a little bit of that potato inside for me.
So those are at the top.
Then I'm going, this is where it actually gets tough because then it's like, it's between
either crinkle cuts or steak fries for me.
I'm going to go with crinkle cuts, but they have to be crispy, dude.
This, the worst thing is a limp crinkle cut fry.
It's like, I don't know why.
It's like, dude, just cook them a little longer man
but i can't anytime i get crinkle cuts they're always limp and soggy oh they're nasty especially
like but but i will say culver's which is a local place for us at least is like they do their
crinkle cuts where they're actually crispy and then i'm like oh these fries are really good
but nine out of ten times, crinkle cuts suck.
So I have to rank them a little bit lower.
Steak fries are really good, but you've got to have a sauce.
Like, I don't want ketchup with steak fries.
Like, I need ranch or honey mustard or something in those regards.
And then at the bottom is these stupid cheese fries.
I like a crispy fry.
So I understand your thinking on that but it's just
way too much work to try to bundle those things all together just to make a normal french fry
out of 10 of them you're nuts instead of grabbing three normal fries you grab like six or seven of
the shoestrings it's the same thing two percent more work for quality have you ever had the
potato sticks you know the little uh blue canister where
they're like the actual like really hard crispy they're called potato sticks they're like they
remind me of shoestring fries if they were just really really hard probably pretty dang good then
i bet you'd like them to be honest since you like shoestring fries i'll i'll send you a link okay
