Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the VideoGamers podcast.
It's part two of our summer spectacular
as we cover all the hottest announcements
from the Summer Games Fest.
From Blood Message to Blood of Dawn Walker,
we're covering the newest hottest games
that you need to know about.
Before we get to the games that don't start with blood,
some introductions are in order.
I am your host, Josh, and joining me, he told us before the show how excited he is for these games,
and he's probably going to pick up a few of them.
It's Ryan.
You can't keep calling me out like this, man.
It's not right.
I mean, the people, I'm just, I'm just introducing.
Quick clune them in.
I'm trying.
I get an inside deal with all these developers, man.
I'm like, yeah, I'm going to get it for sure.
Absolutely.
Make your wish list, people.
And joining us, we were going to cover Stellar Blade Blood Rain and Final Fantasy
Revelation, but instead, he slipped in a couple truly horrible looking games into our
list thinking they were edgy and cool.
It's A's.
Variety is the spice of life.
I can't help that you think salt is spicy.
There's some spices that just aren't good, Ace.
Like licorice, for instance.
All right.
I didn't...
What kind of licorice you eating?
Red Vine's apparently.
Oh, black licorice.
Nobody eats black liversh.
Yeah, there's some people that think it's great.
Yeah.
Kind of like Ace replacing Stellar Blade Blood, Blood Rain and Final Fantasy Revelation with,
wait, what's the name of this game?
My Cannibal Family.
It looked interesting enough.
Wait, wait, wait.
That's next episode, people.
So you're going to have to, listen, if there's ever been a cliffhanger that we have put out into the world, on part two of Summer Games Fest, we will be covering my cannibal family and not Final Fantasy revelation.
You didn't want to cover Final Fantasy to begin with.
You were talking so much crap on Final Fantasy.
If you haven't noticed, ladies and gentlemen, there's far too many games.
There's a lot going on right now.
And we're scrambling.
And we're touching Stellar Blade with like a nine-foot pole.
All right.
Yeah, they need to start calling that something else.
I mean, I'm going.
You don't need to tell me what you got going on, dude.
For Stellar Blade, amazing.
Amazing.
Eve is just, I mean, let's be honest.
It is an incredible video game character.
The new one?
You might need to check the age of your protagonist.
child before you start
before you start advertising your games with jiggle
physics. I don't want to see that child with jiggle physics
on my screen again. Yeah, so
anyway, I had to
pick on Ace because it was like there was
two really big game reveals and it was like
Stellar Blade and Final Fantasy and then I look at
these lists and it's like, neither
one of them is on there and they've been replaced
with my cannibal family and
this new
copy of stray called 1666
Amsterdam or whatever it is.
But we'll get to that.
I feel like that one meme or like the dog sitting in the wheat field is like,
yeah.
Eyes close.
Oh, man.
All right.
Well, listen, if you missed our first episode and our summer spectacular,
we did cover the Sony state of play and all of the games,
well,
not all of the games,
but the hype games,
the biggest games that were announced there.
We are now moving into the summer games fest.
And I guess there's a couple from the future game show in these.
lists as well.
Yeah, there's a few thrown in there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, you know, we are going to be, there's, listen, there's too many.
Even from this one showcase, there's too many.
And we don't want to just give you a list of games and then not be able to talk about
what we think looks good or maybe not looks good on some of these.
So what we're doing is we're breaking this one into a two-part episode where we can cover
all the Games Fest games so that you are caught up on everything.
because, you know, we'll be honest, we watched all of these showcases.
I mean, it's been an entire weekend of game trailers and showcases and stuff like that for us,
which has been awesome.
I mean, it's exciting and we love this stuff.
But when we want to talk about these games for everybody out there, because not everybody's had the time to catch up on these,
we want to be able to kind of explain the games, talk about what the, you know, what gets us excited,
maybe what doesn't, some of the teases that we got, you know, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and,
that sort of thing. So we're going to dive right in. We've got a bunch of games this episode.
We're going to have a bunch more next episode. And then don't worry because we know our Xbox people are
like, well, what about the Xbox game showcase? We're covering that one too. That's its own episode.
It's got its own dedicated episode. Yeah, is getting its own episode. So this is just the,
the week or so of game trailers and announcements and hype and expectations and teases and all that stuff.
So all right, boys, y'all ready to dive in? We got it. We got to. We got to.
a lot to cover. You all ready for this?
I'm ready for this.
All right.
Let's just, this list is in no particular order either because we're not organized
enough to go by what games were revealed at what time in these showcases.
Let's just start off with Alien isolation, two boys.
Aliens come out and play.
I'm excited for this one, man.
Me too.
Now, we've talked about this before.
We got the teaser announced.
about a month or so ago.
We finally got a little bit of a trailer that
showcased some of the external stuff
on this one.
And then the developers kind of took the stage for,
they get like 30 seconds at the end.
I don't know why some developers got some time to talk
and then others didn't.
Probably because they came out.
13 years in the making.
That's a long time, man.
That's a long time.
Yeah, that's probably when they got some time to chat about it.
Yeah.
That beats Bethesda, doesn't it, for a sequel to Skyrim?
No.
Skyrim's 2011.
November 11th, 2011.
Yeah.
Okay, well, I guess Skyrim's.
I know, I know.
You have the title.
You hold the crown.
For the longest time between a freaking sequel and your game that everybody loved,
and then you've beaten into the ground with re-releases and remakes and all that stuff.
11, 11.
That's what it was.
That's right.
It was.
It was 11-11.
All right.
What did you guys think about alien isolation, too?
They showcased some of the external environments.
They said, hey, you know, you're on this planet.
It's not all confined claustrophobic space station.
We didn't get to see a ton.
Yeah.
But what did you think about what we got to see?
I think this is a genius direction to take it to not be trapped on a ship anymore,
but to be able to actually go out and explore this colony on this planet and like have a way more like open space.
But that also means there's less places to hide from the xenomorph.
So you could just be running you down across a field or wherever the heck you are.
I think it's exciting.
I'm kind of excited to play this, and it looks really good so far.
I love a good suspense, atmospheric horror type game.
Alien isolation is an all-timer for people.
They did confirm, too, that the alien, and I'm actually really glad for this direction on this one,
but they said, listen, the alien's unkillable.
You're not standing up to this thing.
They're not making this combat.
This is an aliens fire team elite.
If you want to just go murder hordes of aliens, there's a game for that.
Alien isolation and isolation two, they did confirm, you are just,
trying to survive. You're not fighting this alien. You're not messing with it. It is out to kill you.
And the whole game is about trying to survive on this. And the amount of anxiety and fear that
that elicits in this type of gameplay is second to none. And I'm here for it. If it's programmed anything
like the first game, it's going to be a scary time. Oh, it's going to be so scary. Especially out
in like the wilderness. And you have, you know, you don't have like this, this space hole where you could
go into like boxes or vents or things like that.
You're like, I got to hide behind a bush versus xenomorph.
Like, are you kidding me?
Come on, you know?
So it's, I, I love that suspense style game that that just makes your, your, like, levels go through the roof and your tents the whole time.
And it's always scary.
Um, I think it's going to be good.
I'm excited for this one.
I just know there's going to be a moment where you have to go into like a xenomorph nest.
Right.
Oh, 100%.
Something.
Yeah.
And it's going to be like...
Slowly creeping around.
It's going to be like the worst moment of your life.
My clearance card fell into the nest.
Oh, you have to go get it.
Oh, and then you're like sneaking along.
And yeah.
The guy with like the key to the spaceship gets dragged away by a xenomorph.
Yeah, I got to go get him.
Yeah, his body's there.
I got to go get the card, you know?
I'm in. Oh, man.
Any of that sounds great to me.
So, yeah, alien isolation too, looking incredible.
We got to look at that.
we got some confirmation that it's not you know you're not fighting back or anything like that in this in this sequel there so uh i loved this trailer uh and anytime we get an announcement for a resident evil game uh i get real excited especially after how good the latest ones have been uh resident evil veronica we got a trailer for dude how do they make a trailer so creepy that is what capcom is good at man they're good at getting you in that mood little old lady
the little old lady that you know you're buzzing the doorbell and then she shows up and I'm just like you're
freaking creepy lady you're creeping me out right now don't I thought you don't like her don't even don't
act like you don't like you don't know she creeped me out dude yeah you're you telling me you thought
she was a sweet little old lady she was she's the sweetest old lady she's like come on down child
follow me no that lady's got a demon inside her I'm telling you I'm calling it right now dude
she definitely looks evil as heck yeah thank you you're probably right
She lives so evil.
I was like, I gotta pull up the trailer.
Yeah.
So, I mean, you know, we've heard of Resident Evil Veronica.
What was it?
Like, we covered this.
It was like a tease with a code name.
That's actually a different game, code name Veronica.
But we've heard of this in the past.
Code name Veronica is this.
This is a remake of code name Veronica.
Oh, is that what I was going to say?
From the ground up remake of code name Veronica.
Okay, okay.
Dude, some of these, we've seen so many trailers and so many games that they're starting to play
together. No, no, it's totally fair because they took code name out of the name of the game for some reason.
And it's just Resident Evil Veronica. So this is the spinoff of the main franchise where instead of
following Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, we're following Claire Redfield,
who is the sister of Chris Redfield and the secondary protagonist of Resident Evil 2.
Which they revealed right at the end of this trailer where the guy has Claire kidnapped or whatever.
And then he's like, okay, Claire Redfield. And then it's like, oh,
Okay.
Yeah, it's like, oh, no.
Dude, this game looks awesome to me.
There is nothing like the atmospheric horror and suspense that they can do with
Resident Evil.
I'm automatically in on this one.
Oh, I'm in.
It's Resident Evil.
I'm in.
Yeah, exactly.
Doesn't matter.
You know, you can say what you want about, like, Resident Evil 5 and 6 and some of those,
but the last three Resident Evil games have been incredible.
Yep.
with Village,
BioShok,
wait, not biohazard,
sorry, not Bioshock.
Bioshock.
I've been watching so many trailers, guys.
Oh, no, it's fair.
Yeah, and then, and then, you know, Requiem,
amazing.
I can't wait to see what they're doing.
I love everything that they're doing
with these Resident Evil games lately.
So check out the trailer if you haven't on this one.
It's creepy,
and that lady is creepy no matter what you say.
Okay.
Oh, for sure.
Yeah.
All right.
Dude.
There's so many games to be excited.
This is going to be, this is part of this is we're picking out the games that we're excited for.
Now, there will be one or two that we probably disagree on.
However, these are the games that we thought looked really good and stood out, which is why we're bringing them up.
Blood message.
Do you guys remember when we did our game of the year draft?
We had a category when we were picking games, and it was games that have been announced with no release date.
And Blood Message was one of those games.
Now, none of us drafted it because we didn't have enough information at all to even take a chance on it.
Like, you know, ill and these games are going to get delayed like GTA 6 and some of these other games that aren't coming out this year.
No, stop.
Don't do that to me.
Don't know.
Weren't you the one that drafted ill, Ryan, or was that Ace?
I don't know.
That was Ryan, I believe.
One of you guys, like half your games got delayed in this list.
I think it's Ryan.
Like half of his list is delayed.
Yeah, most of my list is delayed.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, okay.
So, yeah, Ryan drafted ill.
Ryan drafted Fable.
Ryan drafted Atomic Heart 2.
Ryan drafted Judas.
Ryan drafted GTA 6.
Ryan drafted.
Now Wolverine, we know we're getting this year.
Wolverine you're getting.
That's going to carry me.
I'm going to win.
Yeah.
We're probably,
but every other game on Ryan's list is just not,
doesn't even exist in 2026 right now, man.
maybe next year
carryover right
that's how it works
yeah no it doesn't work
I'm afraid not
yeah and I will be bidding a lot
on ill next year
Ace you got
well we're gonna
people are gonna find this out
in the Xbox game showcase
but clockwork revolution
yeah much
but it's not coming out this year either
so dang it I was so close
I know
there's still hope for tides of annihilation
there is still hope I haven't heard a thing
but maybe
I love how our list just always fall apart
like so bad
Hey, most of my games have come out so far.
And they've already out.
My games just haven't been so great.
They've been okay.
Yeah, yeah, 007 and what?
007 is like a new year.
That's what you've had so far?
That's not winning.
No, I don't know.
I close the list.
I don't want to talk about it, Ace.
I close the list.
He's like, I'm done.
I'm done.
Okay.
Guess you should have drafted.
Anyways, blood message.
Blood message.
I, dude, the more I see about blood message,
Maybe they're just making awesome looking trailers and awesome looking gameplay,
but I think this game looks fantastic, dude.
What do you guys think about Blood Message,
especially with the latest look that we got?
It looks intense, dude.
It looks great.
The graphics look incredible.
I couldn't tell what was gameplay and what was cutscene.
It was so good.
I love that.
Anytime you can make me go, is this the game?
Is this a trailer?
That perfect transition was just so good.
Yeah, there's that one part where there's like the kind of the battle in like,
the village scene with the fires going and then all of a sudden it transfers to them on the horseback
you know in the riding you're like oh okay here we go and you're going and it's like oh wait
this is gameplay you know you can you could see that it's like it's a subtle difference but
but it looks so good still and uh reminds me a lot of you know Goseviote or any of those
you know type of really quality graphically pleasing good looking games that
that are going to probably be awesome.
So I'm very stoked on this one.
I think these super realistic graphics
or what's going to help this stand apart
from something like Phantom Blade Zero.
Or from the Ghost Yote, Rise of the Ronan,
all these other Eastern-style games.
I think that's what's going to help this game.
I think so.
I think the animations look absolutely fantastic.
The camera work, which is, I think that's, dude,
camera work in a game is one of the things
that is so underappreciated.
and pointed out by gamers, dude.
Thousand percent, dude.
Yep.
But the camera work in blood message is second to none, dude.
And it's such a thing that it's like, people don't notice it.
But like, you know, Ryan, you reference one part,
but it's like the guy's fighting and it's like he kills the last guy
and he falls over.
And the camera like zooms in on him as he's falling to the ground
and you kind of see his face.
And then he's like, he's just trying to catch his breath.
And he finally gets to his feet.
And then you see this horde of cavalry just come riding at him.
And you're like, but that.
to me is what is going to set this game apart.
I love the story too.
It's like, you know, he's got his kid.
He's trying to keep safe.
They're fighting for their home.
They showcase the kid as like this young kid, like, holding a toy.
And then it just goes to this gritty dark scene where the kids got like mud and he's obviously older.
And his eyes just look dark.
And like, I think this game's going to be incredible.
The horrors of war.
Horrors of war.
Like legitimately, you know, it's like this is how it affected everybody.
Blood message has skyrocketed.
for me up my height meter.
I think this game looks fantastic.
It's honestly one of my favorite trailers I think I saw out of these because it looks
really good.
We knew that this game was coming, but we got a better look at it now.
And that just sold me even more, man.
Yeah, absolutely.
This one disappoints me, boys, because.
Yeah, I knew you were going to have some negative things to say I don't disagree.
I don't disagree.
No, listen, I'm not disappointed in what I think.
think the game is going to be. I'm disappointed because about a year and a half ago, we got a
teaser trailer that announced this game. And then we freaking wait a year and a half. We wait a year
and a half to get, guess what? An announcement trailer that announced the freaking game if games
already been announced, man. No, it's a world premiere, Josh. Hey, no, it was a world premiere of
the trailer said it was a world premiere. It was a world premiere of Didly Squat, Ace. We know this
game is coming out, but this is the announcement that the game's coming out. This is a
announcement about the announcement.
Yeah, I hate that.
People are like, what game are you guys talking about?
We're talking about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the last Ronan.
Okay.
So for anybody that doesn't know, this is the, you know, yeah, Ryan's, Ryan's,
see, he knew we were going to talk about it.
But I'd love the gritty, dark nature of the idea of the last Ronan where all the other turtles are dead.
And it's Mike, is it Michelangelo?
No, it's Raphael.
Spoilers.
Spoilers.
What?
No, dude, anybody that knows last one.
Ronan is Rafael.
No,
the last one is
Michelangelo,
Ryan.
Yeah,
okay,
thank you.
It's Michaelangelo,
right?
Yeah,
it's Michaelangelo.
Ryan's got me
questioning things,
dude.
It's,
I knew,
sorry,
I had to because he was,
no,
no,
because that's fair
because my brain
is mush
from watching
so many trailers
and showcases.
Like,
okay,
I am super,
super in
on whatever the video game
the last Ronan
is going to be.
What I hate,
was it was going to be like a god of warlike so yes that we would know if they would freaking
show any of the game it was just the name of the game no it was you know what it was it was freaking
a portal to the sewers with some fighting going on and some steam coming out and some and i'm
thinking like they're going to show it they're going to show it and then they freaking don't show
it and i was like did you i hate you for this man
I love like it shows, it shows the, like, the sewer drain top lid.
And then you think, like, they're going to pop out.
And then it just goes from the creators of.
And then it just gives you a list and stuff.
And I'm like, we don't care about that.
We want to see the game.
Like, show me the game.
What are you doing?
Bro.
I just, you have no idea how much this bugged me that they just tease this.
And then we got absolutely didly squat out of this, this trailer, man.
And that's such the best part about, like, the last running, like with Michael
Landlo because he was he was the funny, goofy, go happy one and then like all of his brothers died
and then you're there and he's like like they could have brought so much emotion into this
trailer and they just showed us nothing. Like I don't know if I mean they do they have nothing like
why? Why didn't we see anything? It makes me wonder. It took a year and we're never going to
get this game guys. It took a year and a half for them to go from announcement trailer to
announcement trailer. Yeah. Yeah. Although they did show who.
developing it, it's platinum games, you know, the guys behind near automata, the
Bayonetta series, Astral Chain, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance. Oh yeah, they let us know on
the trailer. That's what that is. Yeah, it was on the trailer. That's the most prominent
Hey, we made these. Like, okay, show us what you're making now. Took a year and a half for them to tell
us who's making the game. Platinum games apparently. And the thing, I'm super excited for this,
man. This is why I'm so mad. I can't wait for it to be a Nintendo Switch to exclusive. Oh my gosh. I will
Oh.
Well,
we're going to do a whole episode of just me raging, dude.
You will have one.
You don't even have to buy one.
Yeah,
you'll have one.
I do have one,
but I mean,
all right,
that's fair.
Yeah,
I don't have rage because that's stupid.
No,
no,
no,
I'm still going to rage
because that would be dumb.
All right,
listen,
I need,
I got to compose myself
because I'm all fired up
over this trailer
that wasn't a freaking trailer announcement,
stupid announcement of the announcement.
It's a developer announcement,
a game,
previous game development announcement.
Yeah.
Don't worry, guys.
We know the studio now.
That's what we announced at Summer Games Fest.
Is the freaking studio with no gameplay at all?
They don't have anything.
Like, you can't even like, hey, guys, here's a month.
Drum up a super sick, like, just action sequence.
Could have at least made a cinematic trailer.
It gives me five seconds.
Yeah.
Five seconds of gameplay, dude.
Of just, like, uh, uh, you know, coming out of the dark and this and that.
and then he takes out a few guys, and then you disappear.
And that's all it would take for us to be like, oh, man, I'm so excited.
But they didn't do it.
Like they just, I think they dropped the ball big time on this.
I do too.
And it aggravated me if people can't tell.
All right, we're going to take a quick break to calm down.
I'll get our composure back from stupid announcement for announcement trailers.
And we'll be right back to talk about a really awesome looking game called Crossfire that they showcased.
We'll be right back after this break.

You're gonna be caught in the
Crossfire!
Crossfire!
Cross fire!
Cross fire!
I knew Ryan would know that.
Ace is like,
what are you idiots doing?
I have no idea what you're saying.
You don't remember this commercial?
No, I'm just being deafened.
It's just like, what are you idiots doing?
It was the best commercial of the 90s, just so you know.
No. The second I saw the word crossfire, I was like, crossfire, in my head.
I don't know. I do. I do. With like a storm. When was the Quiznos commercial with those things? If it was in the 90s, you might be a beat.
We love the subs. We love this.
We love this. It's good to do us. This is no. I want Quiznos, man.
Quiznos it was so much better than Subway. I know where all the Quiznos are in town and I hit them up when I'm. No, there's there's three.
There's three. Is there really?
There's one off, actually close to you off northern in the 101.
Bro, rosemary parmesan bread with the chicken ranch bacon.
Oh, and then the pepper.
They got that dattle pepper sauce or whatever it is that you put on there.
Oh, the batch sauce, the batch 83 sauce.
Yes, batch 83.
That's it.
Yeah.
That sauce is so good, dude.
It's so good.
All right.
You luck out.
That was a 2004 commercial.
What, Crossfire?
Oh, the Quiznos one?
Yeah, good because we toast them.
They got a pepper bar.
I freaking want Quiznos.
All the millennials that had of Quiznos are like, yep, I know that commercial.
Everyone knows, Quiz knows, the Spong monkeys.
Anyways, Crossfire.
All right, Crossfire.
Guys, this trailer was sups impressive to me.
I mean, at first I thought this was just going to be another like military shooter kind of thing,
but that is not the case on this one.
I mean, I don't even know where to start on this, dude.
I have no idea.
Incredible.
Yes.
Gameplay?
Incredible.
story for what appears to be like a shooter-based game looks super good to me.
You are enemies.
So you're actually like adversaries in this war that wind up having to work together.
And so you play this game as I'm assuming I think you get to be both of them, right?
Like they kind of showcase the one.
I think you play as her and he's the partner that like helps you like to take down.
partner maybe or something.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She is the main character though.
Yeah.
which I did this game looks so good to me now again I'm a sucker for really good graphics and this game has
really good graphics you know but I also you know we don't get too many games that are like military
esk shooters or stories that actually have a really good story to them as well and this one really tries to
showcase this interaction between the two characters and show you that like they are forced to work together
but otherwise they would be enemies in this game.
But I think the shooting mechanics look really good.
I think the gameplay looks really good on this.
I love where they're going with the story on this one.
The game looks absolutely beautiful.
It presents incredibly to me.
What did you guys think of Crossfire?
I think it's amazing.
And you can definitely see that this came from ex-naughty dog devs.
Like this has that last of us.
It actually does.
Yeah, I know exactly what you're talking about.
It feels like the last of us. It's visceral.
The combat is intense.
Like, it is nasty.
in some of the takedowns and finishers.
Like, it is,
no holds barred.
It looks incredible.
This is going to be an all timer.
I can tell you.
Yeah, there's slightly,
like, futuristic elements to it,
where you have, like,
the predator-type camouflage.
Yeah, he's got, like, invisibility,
and she's crazy.
Well, there's this part, too,
where, like, he puts his, like, handover,
and then, like, she, like, they heal up,
like a wound, like a gash in the leg and stuff.
So, I do agree, like, I think,
um,
I don't think we have the whole picture yet.
I think as much as we've seen, I think there's a lot more within this game.
And it's exciting.
That's the best part of it is I think as good as this looks, I think there's a lot more, a lot more there.
And that's what you want out of your trailer.
That's what you want people to feel and think and be excited for.
And I think they did it big time.
I like that term you used visceral, Ace, where there's parts of the, yeah, there's parts of
to the game where it's hyper violent, like hyper violent.
Like, you know, some enemy is just smashing the protagonist lady up against a wall, you know,
or a plane is exploding, right?
And it's like people are falling out of it and stuff like that.
There's also this weird thing where there's some kind of, I don't know if it's an infection
or an element or whatever that you see is like healing people up,
but then it's like reacting almost like it's like a zombie infection in some degree.
So there's going to be some sort of like sci-fi element to this game as well.
I'm in, dude.
I'm in on Crossfire.
This trailer did everything that a developer could want a trailer to do.
Yeah, obviously, we don't know everything like Ryan said, but like there's some hidden
element that's making these two characters have to team up and take down this guy's
friends, basically.
Yeah.
And I'm very interested to find out what it is.
They've immersed me into what this world is.
I want to know more about it.
So I'm definitely in on this.
Yep.
Yeah.
So watch the trailer for this one.
I cannot wait to hear more on Crossfire because this is.
game looks bananas good, dude.
It's also pretty funny.
I got to give it.
Yeah.
And that's honestly, like, that's why I get excited because again, give me a, like, if you
can land a really, really good story with these kind of gameplay elements, like, that is
something that not a lot of people have done, you know?
I mean, yeah, we got all the call of duty campaigns.
They're fine.
They're whatever.
You know what I mean?
But it's like, you don't get these kind of shooter based games where the gameplay and the
story resonates so much.
like I think this game is going to.
So yeah.
Yeah. Crossfire way up there.
Didn't even know this game existed before the Summer Games Fest.
And now I'm in.
So well done there.
And like you said, ex-noddy-dog devs, the emotions, the emotions that are going to be part of this game, I cannot wait for, dude.
And who is that?
It's ex-naughty dog.
These are ex-naughty-dog devs.
For Last of Us.
From the Last of Us.
Yeah, they did The Last of Us and Uncharted.
You're muted, bud.
You're muted now.
Ryan all of a sudden while you wanted to talk about what is this game we're talking about oh this is crossfire crossfire
cross fire cross fire cross fire cross why you were yelling into your mic muted for a second
i think i accidentally hit my space bar and it muted me okay all right okay ace i'm going to turn this
one over to you buddy because this is the one race
was like if you guys don't bring
this up he was like I'm going to
rage we thought about it because we kind of
want to see Ace rage a little bit
but it would have been fun. It would have been good.
Haven't you gotten enough of that for a while?
Ace, tell us why you think Saw Genesis
looks amazing. We talked
about this when we heard
the rumors that there might be a saw
game in development. I kind
talked about what I wanted to see from a
saw game. This is what
I wanted to see from a saw game. This is what
I wanted to see from a saw
game. It is a multiplayer
not asymmetric, which is amazing.
Thankfully. Not an asymmetric.
Yeah. I'm actually glad. We don't have enough of those.
We need more.
Every single one of them gets killed by dead by daylight at this point.
It doesn't matter. It's been 10 years and dead by daylight's still here.
But this is, it's hard to describe. You've three people who are going to be put into the trials.
These are your test subjects. These are the guys who, I forget what the word is, they're looking for,
rebirthed.
And then you have one guy who gets to control
the trials and gets to watch over things.
And it's basically, if you've ever
played death run from Gmod, one guy
triggers the traps, the other guys have to avoid them.
And it gave me a very
heavy outlast trials vibe.
Outlast trials, yeah. While also having
that classic saw twist.
For those who don't know, saw is like one of my
favorite movies. Like I love it.
It's like incredible, dude. Yes.
And they get bad near the end, but if you start
treating more like a cop.
Right. Why is the, well,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, you were thumbs downing saw.
The first saw movie?
The fact that the franchise is, no, yeah.
The whole franchise is garbage.
Dude, you are crazy because the original saw, the original saw is one of the best, like,
horror movies ever made, dude.
Saw one, like, through three are really, really good.
And then Saw It, Saw X was actually really good.
I really like that one.
I think that's why Ryan's thumbs downing, because there's, like, ten of them at this point.
There's ten of them plus a spin-off.
Any movie that they make, like, 15 of, it's just like they're just living off of it.
original song is so good. I've seen that. I've seen them. Popen Bell is a gem to our generation. I will hear no slander. Whatever. He is awesome and his voice is iconic. I know you guys aren't super into like multiplayer horror games in this style because you know everyone wants to be the killer. Everyone wants to be the guy who's in control of killing everyone. No one wants to be the victim. But what did you guys think overall just to this game? Well, I'm actually glad that it's not because it's not asymmetric. You know what I mean? And so to me that makes it more interesting.
because I'm tired.
And that's not just,
I'm not slandering people that love asymmetric games,
but it's kind of like you said,
one of the issues is everybody wants to be the one role.
And then you have everybody else that's kind of falling into the other role.
So then, wait, if they have roles,
how is this not asymmetric then?
Because they're,
you can't actively hunt that person down.
I guess so.
I guess so.
So somebody controlling one person's in a control room and the other person is,
you know,
the other people are working together or trying to screw one another over.
see who survives last.
And it looks bloody and gory and visceral once again.
I love the traps.
This is what makes Saul what it is,
is these terrific contraptions that people have to interact with or do.
At one point,
it's like you're reaching into the cylinder with a bunch of blades.
And it's like you're slicing your arm up
and your fingers are getting cut off.
And it's like you've got to retrieve some key or something like that.
And they've got Tobin Bell's voice.
They've got him in the game.
I thought this looks pretty good, Ace.
Like, there's a little bit of like, it remains to be seen kind of thing on this, but I do like the soft franchise.
I oddly and morbidly love these weird like contraptions that they come up with.
And it's like they're horrific.
But at the same time, it's kind of like, you know, you're in this position because you did something wrong, you know?
And so it's like there's a certain amount of like penance to be paid or something.
I don't know.
It's interesting subject material to me.
I'm not super hyped for this, but I could see this being like Outlasts,
where it's just really, really fun
and is way better than a lot of people think it is,
you know, at that point.
So, yeah, I'm high court.
Um, A said we can't talk about stellar blade.
Um, something about, you go ahead.
I'll sit this one out.
Something about pedophilia or something like that.
Yeah, I did not know.
Like, listen, people, you know, I, this trailer right away, I was like, this game looks awesome.
Like, I don't know what this game is, you know,
but it looks really good.
Graphics were great.
And the combat looked good.
I don't know.
And then they went into the jiggle physics part and this person that looks like a child.
I'm a father.
And then it just got weird.
So I don't really know what they were going for with Stellar Blade Blood Rain.
But this wasn't it for me, man.
And maybe that's because we're older and we're dads and we don't like the the.
We're not those kind of influencers.
Yeah.
I don't know, man.
This one, I'm with you based on this one.
That's pretty good.
I'm with you on this one
It just it just
There's something that made me feel awkward with this
If they want to like raise the age of the character
Or something
Make it look like the model you mocapped at least
Yeah
Or just Eve
What was wrong with Eve man
Yeah I know why did they throw away their protagonist after one game
And I do mean fine so
All right last one for the show
Yeah
Last one for the show
Uh 1666 Amsterdam
am. I was watching this trailer. They showed a cat kind of early on. I made the joke. We
have stray at home. And then they just kind of leaned into more of the cats. And then they kind
of got into the witch part of it. And I was like, oh, okay, well, this makes sense because, you know,
people think that witches turn into cats. If you're a fan of Monty Python, they turn into ducks
instead. But I'm a little torn on this one, man. There's a part of me that thinks like this game could be
really cool with the witches and the gameplay, except they didn't really show gameplay is the part.
And so it's like, you know, it's a cool trailer.
And then they came out and said, you can play the prolog on Steam.
And we were like, ooh, but it's just a story prologue.
Like, there's no like real gameplay involved there.
So we still don't know what 1666 Amsterdam is.
I think the trailer looked good.
But anytime you don't showcase gameplay in your game.
I, it's hard for me to get excited about.
Yeah, I think I just need to see more.
Like, it has a pedigree of coming from the original creator of Assassin's Creed.
Which I like.
This game's been in development hell for like, I think 12, 13 years now because Ubisoft
tried to really shove this one under the rug and give him the boot.
Like, they really wanted to screw him over on this game.
So I want to support this game out of just sticking it to Ubisoft, honestly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, but I need to see more.
I need to see the gameplay.
I need to see what this game has to offer,
not just that it has cats and witches.
And the prologue doesn't do anything.
Well,
I love that it says it introduces the world characters and mysteries of 1666.
It's like,
no, it doesn't.
It just shows you a film of what's going on.
Yeah, he's watching a 30-minute cut scene.
There could be a cool game here,
but again, this is something we have said time and time again.
Developers, listen.
Gameplay.
These cinematic trailers, they're not easy to make.
They're not cheap to make.
They take so much man hours and effort and all that stuff.
And it's like, it's cool.
Like, don't get me wrong.
But if you're trying to showcase your game to gamers,
like we need to see what we are actually going to be doing.
And like I said, at worst, give us five to ten seconds.
And I've seen trailers do this where they want to do the big long cinematic.
And then right at the last five or ten seconds, they showcase the gameplay.
Because they probably don't have a lot.
It's not really polished.
I don't mind the mix.
I don't mind it.
Exactly.
As long as I get to see something that tells me this is what this game is actually going to be.
But an all cinematic trailer does didly squat.
You're wasting your time.
You're wasting your money.
You're wasting your development hours.
It just doesn't do things.
Are they cool?
Yes.
Like, yeah, they're fun to watch.
But like, you're trying to sell your game.
And a cinematic only trailer does not do that.
We said this before.
I'm saying it again for, you know, because we,
know Ubisoft's listening and we know
these other people are listening because they all love our show.
So just stop it.
Stop it. Stop it.
The only people that could do that was old school
Blizzard. Like remember back in the day, you'd watch an old school
Blizzard cinematic and you're like, yeah, because you knew
the game would be good. You knew the game.
Lizard is the king.
A thousand percent of the cinematics, but you knew the game,
it may not look exactly like it, but it would match up to the
quality of the cinematics. And they were,
the king of Cinemax.
They always made the best trailers to get you the most hyped.
And then the game matched that.
And a lot of these things now is where they just spend all this time making these
cinematics and all this time making these trailers, but they don't show any gameplay
and they don't show what the game is.
And then it comes out to be something totally different than what everybody thought,
or it's not as good.
Or it's like, just show a little bit, man.
Like give us something because what are we?
We're gamers.
What we want to do?
We want to play games.
So show us the game.
We're not movie people.
Like we're looking.
Exactly.
If I want to watch a movie, I'll watch a movie, man.
Exactly.
You're cinematic trailers don't do anything to get me invested in your game.
We want to interact.
We want to be part of it.
So we want to see gameplay.
We want to see what we'll be doing.
Like you said, Josh.
And so, yeah, anytime they leave that out, it immediately throws up red flags.
Yep.
Yeah.
So.
And then you paid all this money to be on the summer games fest to showcase your game.
And then you didn't showcase your game.
You didn't showcase your game.
Yeah.
So, all right, well, there you go, people.
That's Alien Isolation 2.
Resident Evil Veronica, blood message,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the last Ronan, you freaking teases.
Crossfire, Saw Genesis, and 1666, Amsterdam.
Guys, out of this list, which one are you most excited for?
Crossfire.
I think it's Crossfire.
Yeah, I think it's Crossfire, too.
As hyped as I am for Saw Genesis, a single player game like Crossfire.
I just wanted to yell it.
That's all.
I know.
I think that and Blood Messy.
for me or the two that stood out most.
Although Resident Evil Veronica is...
Veronica's going to be great.
It's going to be so good.
It's going to be so good.
People don't need us to tell them that, dude.
So I'm giving it to the other two in this one.
So...
All right, listen.
We will be back on Thursday with part two of the Summer Games Fest,
where we are going to be talking about Blood of Dawn Walker,
Lords of the Fall and Two, which we got in even more awesome.
