Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey y'all, it's Kelly Clarkson with Wayfair. Ever order furniture online and wonder what if? Like, what if it doesn't hold up? That sofa was four days old. You should have ordered from Wayfair. With Wayfair, there's no what if. Just style you love and quality you can trust. Visit Wayfair.ca.
Starting point is 00:00:12 Wayfair, every style, every home. Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the VideoGamers podcast. What are some of the most iconic voice lines or phrases in gaming? Do you have favorites you use in the real world? Well, on today's episode, we're going to be breaking down our most iconic voice lines in gaming from Geralds Winshally to the Halo announcers, double kill. We're covering the voice lines that have withstood the test of time. Before we get to that, some introductions are in order. I am your host, Josh, and joining me, if we don't hear a Decker-Cain impression on this episode, I'm not sure how to be.
Starting point is 00:01:09 this podcast will ever recover. It's Ryan. I don't think you'll have to worry about that. I think you're going to be quite all right in that world. Yeah. If there was one voice line that I'm like, Ryan will absolutely pick this. It's either stay a while or it's snake,
Starting point is 00:01:29 snake. Don't ever think you know me. Did I just run two years, Ryan? You don't know me. Did I? Yeah, well, listeners, stay a while and listen. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:01:40 And joining us, I certainly would never mention how we once again told him he's got to redo his list when Ryan and I had never heard of any of his picks. But don't worry, because now he's got some great ones. It's Ace. I think you are both completely uncultured, quite frankly. Uncultured swine. You forgot about this ace because we delayed this episode. We delayed recording this episode so Ryan and I could go on vacation. but I remember, Ryan, do you remember when A.
Starting point is 00:02:11 shared his list with us? And he's like, all right, I got my voice lines. And you and I were like, Ace, I've never heard of any of these. And we were like, bro, you might have to go back to the well. And then you were like, what do you mean? What well? These are like, these are iconic. And we were like, it's not your favorite voice lines.
Starting point is 00:02:27 These are like the voice lines that like everybody can relate to. And then all of a sudden Ace is like, dang it. And then he comes back and then he's got like a good list of them. but I can't help my brain doesn't serve the normie gamer, all right? Spoken like a true indie guy. Yeah, right. You just don't understand.
Starting point is 00:02:47 It's too mainstream. I had two Ubisoft games and freaking bloodborn on my list. I don't want to hear it. Oh, man. That was pretty funny, though. This is the second time we've had to be like Ace. I don't think that's what we're going for on this one. But, uh, you know.
Starting point is 00:03:03 So, guys, I, I love episodes like this because number one, it is a, it's a little bit of like a nostalgia kick. And then number two, it's one of those things that almost every gamer in the world can relate to. Because like I said, these are your like iconic voice lines. And look, before we get to the end of the show where we're wrapping things up and you're like, but you guys didn't say this one. You forgot this one. How could you not mention this voice line?
Starting point is 00:03:33 Hey, that's fine. That's fine. We want to hear from you. Leave a comment with what you think, like the iconic voice lines that we missed are. Now, obviously, we picked out some of our favorites. We could make this a five-hour episode if we wanted to try to cover every iconic voice line. So just because something doesn't get mentioned doesn't mean we don't love it or that we don't think it's iconic. It's just, you know, we had to go with the ones that speak to our souls.
Starting point is 00:04:00 But do comment and tell us how stupid we are. Yes. Oh yeah, we love your comment. And don't speak too closely to your soul. You'll be told you're not iconic enough. Don't be like Ace and then have like voice lines that nobody has ever heard of. Everyone has heard the opening voice line from Far Cry 3. I wish I had you.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Do we still have your original list? Yes, we do. Can you find it? Is it in there, Ryan? Because I remember going like, Ace, what are these? Like I don't know these voice lines at all. And I've been gaming for twice as long as you've been alive. man, you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:04:35 So it's like, ah, yeah. Oh, my gosh. I'm looking for it right now. It was, I can see it. Yeah, you have your original list, yeah, it's right here. Okay, no, no, no, no. All right, we're pausing the episode.
Starting point is 00:04:47 What is your original list, Ace? Oh, my original list was Voss from Far Cry 3s. Okay, now, I think you might have kept that one, though. No, I didn't. You didn't keep Voss? Okay, well, what's the voice line? It was, did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? insanity is doing the exact same effing thing over and over again and expecting it to change.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Okay. That's iconic. That's a saying at this point, you know. Okay. And then what are the other ones? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:05:17 I don't know. I don't know. I had Blackbeard from Assassin's Creed black flag. In a world without gold, we might have been heroes. People played that game? That's iconic? That was iconic to people within the Assassin's Creed community. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Okay. Well, of course it was. They played the game. What else did he have, Ryan? What else did he do you start to pull down? Hunter Hunter Dejora. Dejora from Bloodborn. In case you fail to realize the things you hunt, they're not beasts.
Starting point is 00:05:46 They're people. I don't know any of these. I don't know any of these. This is what, okay. So when we said, hey, people, we had to send Ace back to the well. Now ACEs, they're pretty good. Like, they're pretty good now. Player undertale, despite everything, it's still.
Starting point is 00:06:02 That's literally the most iconic phrase from the entirety of Undertale. I don't know what to tell you. Look, I really want to slander the Undertale stuff, but I'm smarter than that because Oh, you will die. I don't want to get it. You think Starry Valley fans are mean. Yeah, I know. I know.
Starting point is 00:06:16 So I'm not saying, I've learned I will never say anything negative about Undertale. Which is so funny. Like those like nice, like happy games, especially like Sturdy Valley, they're so, they're ruthless. They will get you. Oh, yeah. If you talk bad about their cozy game, like where they're supposed to be relaxed and chill, they'll get you.
Starting point is 00:06:33 That's what I told you, man. That's their therapy. I'm not scared of a lot of things, but I know to not slander undertale. Never. Never slander undertale, never slander amory, and never talk about earthbound poorly. That's what I've learned. Yeah, yeah. I can't slander amory because my daughter loves that game, and honestly, I don't know much about it.
Starting point is 00:06:50 Then you won't get no healing. Yeah. So, Undertale is great, guys. Awesome. That's right. Well, from that. Undertail Deep dive. Coming soon. Just Josh.
Starting point is 00:07:04 All right. You guys. All right. Move on. Look, before we get to our picks for these, we do, we were a little remiss this last week, but we do have a couple reviews to read. Ryan, you want to take the first one and I'll take the second one? I do.
Starting point is 00:07:17 This one is from Jack's Attacks 26. Not, not my son. But this one is titled, five stars. Oh, yeah, this wasn't from him. Best podcast ever. I have always wanted to find a good video game podcast for when I'm at work, and I came across to you guys, and I am glad that I did. You guys make someone who has only played sports games and AAA story mode games
Starting point is 00:07:42 want to check out indies and many more. All of you guys are great. Look forward to the days I can listen to the podcast. Also, love the Twitch streams and can't wait for more amazing content. Wow. That's a good one. That is a good one. The reviews lately have been awesome.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Steller. Kind of like this one. Kind of like this one that comes in from Cubox Boy, and it's titled Five Stars, and it says, these guys are great. As a high schooler with not a lot of time and less money, it's great to be able to hear which games are worth those resources. This show is very funny and very informative, and it's great to be able to widen my gaming perspective with it.
Starting point is 00:08:24 Thank you guys for making my days a bit easier and a lot more entertaining. of it. So, guys. Thank you. I feel the love, guys. I feel the love. I will say this. Except for when we pick on you, Ace, is that what you're going to say?
Starting point is 00:08:40 No, no, I was going to say, except for when Josh disses a game and immediately gets dunked on. That's fair. We have always said, we have always said our opinions are just opinions and they are our opinions. Hey, we got a three-star review that's solely because of your where words we review. Oh, we did. Yeah, we did. It was like, I'm 58. It wasn't that hard for me to learn.
Starting point is 00:09:02 You know, we do. That doesn't mean it was a good game. We keeps it real. We keep it real. Yeah. You know what? We are a okay with dissenting opinions, man. That's just part of gaming.
Starting point is 00:09:13 And it's nothing personal if somebody disagrees with you. That is something we have always said. It's something that we champion. We do not approach this podcast that it's like we're, you know, you have to believe everything we say. It's like half the time we go, don't believe. don't believe what I'm saying on this. I have weird game takes, man.
Starting point is 00:09:31 You know, yeah. Like, if you know who we are, then you, like, at that point, you're going to be like, okay, well, I'm not listening to Josh's take on a cozy game because I'm not so good with those. And don't take my takes on first-person shooters. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. There you go. Except for mouse.
Starting point is 00:09:47 All right, guys. Enough messing around. Let's get to these iconic voice lines on this one. Oh, boy. I'm going to just start us off because. I think this might be the most iconic voice line in gaming. Okay. So I'm going to preface this way with,
Starting point is 00:10:05 I'm not saying I love this voice line because I kind of don't. But it might be one of the most iconic voice lines in gaming. And that is, It's me, Mario. It's the me, Mario. It's a me, Mario. Okay. I hate that voice line.
Starting point is 00:10:26 I hate that voice line. It's do, do, do, do, do. Who introduces themselves like that? Italians. Like, does Mario have, like, a superiority complex? Like, I don't walk into my work and go, it's me, Josh. You should. You should absolutely start doing that, though.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Just push open both doors with full force. It's a B. Although, I think you get there before anyone else. Like, so I don't know how much it would land. Bro just be talking to the room. I might try this. Maybe at the next restaurant we go to, my family would die, dude. But I don't care.
Starting point is 00:11:04 I'm the kind of person where it's like, I don't have any shame. And then watching their embarrassment would crack me up. You have to say Joshua, though. Like, so that, like, the cadence sound. I'm only Joshua. The cadence has to be. Like, it's to me, Joshua. It's better than Josh.
Starting point is 00:11:20 That's fair. That's fair. Then I feel like I'm in trouble, man. Yeah. Oh. I only get called Joshua. Bro, when I got the Ryan Christopher, that was a big deal. Yeah, I was in trouble.
Starting point is 00:11:29 You just run. Yeah, that's when, yeah, I know. You get the full legal name you run. Yeah. I don't know that they're, like I said, you could say this to anybody. I mean, it's, okay. So to be fair, the name is in the voice line, but like, if you were, like, it's me. Like somebody, everybody in the world just be like, Mario, whether you're a fan of Mario or not.
Starting point is 00:11:48 Like, if I, you could do that to like a six-year-old. And your six-year-old would be like, know the answer to that. So. Yeah. That's a good one. So there you go. I think it's one of the most iconic, but I had to throw it in there. As much as I don't love the voice line.
Starting point is 00:12:03 I love how it's, it's so iconic. Nintendo just copies it for the other brothers. It's like, it's on me, Mario, Mario. Oh, yeah. He's a me. Luigi. They literally just copy past it for every single character. All right.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Ryan, let's head over to you. What do you got for your first one? I have my template set up. You have to do Ace next. Oh, I got to make sense. Are we keeping this order? Is this it? Yeah, this is the order because I have it all set up for your time stamps.
Starting point is 00:12:30 Oh, okay. Fair enough. Okay, I got you. Ryan, wait a complicated. This is not complicated at all. That's not. I got to go in a specific order because Ryan can't type in a time.
Starting point is 00:12:42 No, I have them all set up with all of our names so I can put the timestamps in. It's super simple. However your brain works, I'm not arguing with, Ryan. Hey, you're helping out the listening. here.
Starting point is 00:12:54 You're making their lives better. I will go with what your brain is telling you is the right way. I'm trying to make it easy for your editing. I'm trying to make it easy to put it in order. I'm just going to go in with Ryan. And Ryan's like, no, I'm making this easier for you. Like, no, now I got to go to Ace. And it's like, so I need to keep the order?
Starting point is 00:13:14 Unbelievable. I'm totally skipping around now. Ace, why don't you do this one and then just do another one before we need to Ryan? I'll just go right ahead. Do another one? Yeah, why not? All right. All right.
Starting point is 00:13:26 All right, Ace. We are all very familiar with this voice line. Some would say you might have heard it too many times in your lifetime. And that voice line is, Hey, listen. Hey, listen. Watch out. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 00:13:43 The iconic Navi voice line from Ocarina of Time. That used to be my text tone because I couldn't ignore it. I would hear that and be like, That was your text tone? Yeah. Hey, listen. It would cycle between the like the, hey, listen, watch out. Over here.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Look. These might be two of the most of the annoying voice lines in history. Now, listen, a good voice line does not necessarily, like, you can be iconic and still not be the best thing ever. But if you say, yeah, if you say, hey, listen, that was, that was one that was one that was going to be on my list if nobody took it because unfortunately it ranks up there. So, yeah, Navi, not fun. Not fun at all.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Can't argue it's not iconic though. All right. We're going by Ryan's template that he made without telling anybody. Ryan, you're up next. All right. Save the best for last. Well, as Josh described in the intro, it wouldn't be a, a voice episode if we didn't have
Starting point is 00:14:54 good old boy Decker Cain in there and oh wait, I'm supposed to do a pause Josh is gonna You can still pause Josh is gonna put it in right saying this And that Decker Cain from
Starting point is 00:15:14 Tiablo 2 is Stay a while and listen Stay a while and listen Stay a while and listen Stay a while and listen stay a while and listen not maybe not iconic to the world
Starting point is 00:15:28 but to anybody that's played a video game especially older gamers you're going to know that voice line absolutely that is an iconic voice line I don't care if you miss Diablo 2 or not you know like Ace knew that voice line yeah and he's you know he's too young for Diablo 2 so I was
Starting point is 00:15:44 forced to impersonate that voice line that's true that's true you did get you did get forced into that one Oh man All right I guess it's back to me Back to you buddy
Starting point is 00:15:56 Seems pretty simple Just go in order I think we can handle it Look There is I am so convinced That this is so iconic That you could
Starting point is 00:16:06 You could do this voice line To like a 90 year old person And they would actually know What you are referencing Especially if you do the movement With it And that is Hadoken
Starting point is 00:16:19 Hadoken Oh, yeah Hadoken Yeah, dude, who doesn't know what Hadoken is? Bless you. Bless you. Yeah, thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Tatz, tachematsatsu-Sampukin was another one, but that's a little less known. What did you call me? That one's a lot harder to say. I actually like that one better. It's like catchier for me, for my brain for some reason. But yeah, dude, like I said, this is anybody in the world. If somebody doesn't know what Hadokie, is, like, I feel like they're just really, really detached from society.
Starting point is 00:16:56 But that one is to me is also one of the most iconic ones that just exist, dude. Like, my kids have never played Street Fighter in their life, and they go around, like, throwing Hedokens, you know, at things. Like, it's just, that's, that's how iconic it is. It had to get mentioned, so there we are. They'll learn with the Street Fire movie. That's a good one. That's true.
Starting point is 00:17:16 There is a street fighter. That actually doesn't look that bad. I think it's going to be entertaining. Like, if you're expecting it to win an Oscar, you might be going into it with the wrong mindset, but I do think that this is going to be supremely entertaining. The Mortal Kombat movie that came out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:30 I like Mortal Kombat movies. The one that recent, the newest one? I like all of them. They're all entertaining. Okay, because that's all sitting. That's getting a sequel. That's a story I'll tell you guys offline because it's not appropriate for this show.
Starting point is 00:17:42 But the first Mortal Kombat movie I saw in the movie theater and something crazy happened during that movie. I'll tell you guys. All right, yeah. Or maybe the next pre-show. Maybe next pre-show. All right. I don't know, maybe.
Starting point is 00:17:57 Maybe off the books. Sign up and fine out. Off the books. Anyway, it's my turn with the next iconic voice line. And this will only be iconic once again, another Nintendo character. Our favorite little pink puff ball and friend. And that voice line is... Paya!
Starting point is 00:18:15 Pio! Do it again, Ace. Do it again. How do you spell that? That is a P-O-Y-O. Got it, got it. P-O-O? That would be P-O-O-Y-O.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Wouldn't P-O-I-Y-O? Not according to Google. So, not to throw myself under the bus here, I don't know what that is. Pollo is a curby. That's the noise Kirby makes. Oh, is that really? I thought he made like the vacuum noise. He does that too, but that's just like when he's sucking up things.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Poyo! There he is! Pollo! What if Pollo and Kirby speak is him just cussing? And, like, we're just sitting here just dropping bombs. Like, Pollo and Pollo! Kirby language. Cursing in Kirby language. I will say, even though I don't know what Pollo means, I have heard this voice line before,
Starting point is 00:19:15 and I have, I'll be honest, I'll confess, I have not played very many Kirby games, like, at all. No. an old guy like me has heard poyo before so yeah i that's a good picture i'm sure if i heard it i'd be like oh yeah you know curby's like actually one of nintendo's like most popular mascots just behind like marion link yeah that's that's weird i feel like nintendo tries to make every character their mascot yeah yeah that's what i thought kirby's like the vacuum sound that's a pretty iconic sound that's not a voice line though that's that's fair that's fair all right Ryan, let's get one from you and then we'll take a quick break here and then we'll get to the others.
Starting point is 00:19:52 What's up next for you, Ryan? Sweet. All right. So up next for me is one that, again, we're going to lean into, it's iconic, but it's also one of the most obnoxious, annoying game sounds within games. And it is, do a barrel roll. Do a barrel roll. Ryan, do a barrel roll. Go a barrel roll.
Starting point is 00:20:14 If the guy wasn't telling you to do a barrel roll every like 15 seconds, like it would be one thing. Dude, yeah. Pull in the audio for this. I watched a couple of videos and it's just mashups of him just like over everybody else. They're like, hey, Star Fox, you need to do a barrel roll. And it just kept dubbing in his voice to everything. Freaking peppy hair, man.
Starting point is 00:20:38 He wanted those barrel rolls big time. That is, do a barrel roll is honestly super icon. That's one of those voice lines. You can actually find use for it in everyday life. Every now and then, you know, like somebody trips and falls. Do a barrel roll. Do a barrel roll. I haven't played that game in probably, I don't know, since it came out, like 20-something years.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Nobody has. That voice lines outlived the game. And it's still, like, yeah, I use that all the time. Do a barrel roll. Even if it's something that has no relevance at all. Do a barrel roll. Do a barrel roll. I said it playing hockey when somebody fell.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Do a barrel roll. that's what I'm saying, man. It's iconic, dude. It transcends gaming, and it's funny, because I think you guys hit the nail on the head. That game is, like, old and defunct at this point, although remake on its way is what we're hearing. So you know they're going to bring back, do a barrel roll in the remake as well. So, yeah. All right, I'll tell you what, we'll take a quick break, and then we'll come back.
Starting point is 00:21:36 We still got a few to cover here, so we'll have to speed this up a little bit, boys. And we'll be right back after this break. Zep bound Okay, remember A is for asking The questions that matter to me Andrea, the doctor will see you now B is for beginning the conversation Hey Andrea, good to see you
Starting point is 00:21:57 So what brings you in today? C is for choosing which treatment is right for me And Zed is for Zepbound And I'm ready to ask Ask a doctor about Zepbound QuickPen Get your savings card at Zepbound.ca. Exclusions and exceptions may apply
Starting point is 00:22:13 Is I bound? All right, guys. I guess I'm up next. We're getting into the, I will say for me at least, these aren't as easily iconic, but I still think these stand out amongst the most iconic voice lines. And I'm going to go with one from our boy Master Chief. And if you guys think Master Chief,
Starting point is 00:22:34 there's one voice line that he says that to me stands out over and above all of the other voice lines. And that is, I need a weapon. I need a weapon. Yeah. I, yeah. Like to me, and he says it multiple different times, you know, throughout the series, but it's like that, to me, where he's just like, I need a weapon.
Starting point is 00:22:57 It's number one is just a super cool part in the game, but also just stands out as one of the more iconic voice lines from one of the more iconic characters in video games. Yeah. And there's something to be said when, when like a voice line, not only, it's not like, like too much about what's going on or everything else as far as like to give you those fields you just know stuff's about to happen you're like oh it's about to get real right now yeah that has the same like menacing aura as rip and tear until yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah it's like i need a weapon oh okay yeah oh man he's about to go stuff's about to go down life is forfeit i got you All right, Ace, what's up next for you, buddy?
Starting point is 00:23:41 All right. I keep bringing my favorite orange marsupial up from his platforming days on the PlayStation, even though nobody here has enjoyed the world of Crash Bandicoot. I know. I'm sorry. This voice line was so iconic, it became a meme and was later reused in Crash Bandicoot 4. And that voice line is, Whoa, whoa.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Whoa. What do we got going on over here? Does he say it? I would love that they just continued the voice line. Like, you know, it's like, whoa, what just happened? He died. And I heard that a lot. I heard that noise a bajillion times, like, as a kid.
Starting point is 00:24:23 And then additionally, Huba Chaga. Oh, yeah. Yeah. See, that's the one I know. Even though I don't know Crash Bandicoot. I just, I've never played the Crash Bandicoot games. I do know that one, though. Hubichaga.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Humachuga. No, that's a good one. I heard, though, a ton. Yeah, falling down the pit, misjump, and then, yeah, little stupid triangle pixel guy. Ace likes these little sounds. I do. I like little sounds. Whoa.
Starting point is 00:24:51 Pio! All right, Ryan, what's up next for you? Give us an iconic one, Ryan. I think we got to go to one. This one has multiple sounds that are iconic, but not. not a ton of voice lines, but this one is a big one. And it is. Snake, what happened?
Starting point is 00:25:15 Snake. Snake. Snake? Snake? Snake? Snake! Snake! I called it.
Starting point is 00:25:23 I called it. Dun, dun, dun, da. Dun, da, da. I will say, having played at least Metal Gear Solid 5, I like hearing that voice line at that point. because Ryan has said it on this show about a thousand times. And it's like, it is up there, man.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Having recently confessed to have not played any of the Metal Gear games, I know that voice line. Like, that is how iconic that voice line is. That's how you know it's big time. Yeah, that's how you know how big it is. The other sound I was mentioning like that it's iconic is the, you know, the alert sound. Oh, yeah, the alert sound.
Starting point is 00:25:59 That's a great sound, but that's not a voice line. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's not a voice line. But it's such a good sound. Which we did cover in our most iconic sounds episodes. Exactly. yeah all right up next for me listen i think this is one of the most not not only iconic but just amazing like twists in a game that that you find out so this ties to you know one of the the best
Starting point is 00:26:23 games ever in in bioshok uh and so anybody's like oh i know i know what this is this is coming uh so that is the voice line would you kindly would you kindly would you kindly Oh, yeah. Would you kindly go and do this? Would you kindly go and do that? Would you kindly? Now, hold on. Is this, would you want to give a spoiler?
Starting point is 00:26:49 Do we not give a spoiler? Is that considered spoiler territory? I mean, if you haven't played Bioshock at this point, I feel like a spoiler at this point is really not. Yeah, deal with it. So would you kindly, if you haven't played Bioshock, number one, shame on you that's on you. But number two, you hear this voice line, and this is why it's so iconic, is because you realize at the end of the game that the phrase, would you kindly, is predicated on you doing everything that they tell you to do after that phrase.
Starting point is 00:27:21 And it is one of the biggest twists in gaming. It's a shock when it is revealed. And then the game goes back and actually shows you all the times. The guy said, would you kindly? And then your jaw is just on the floor because you're like, wait a minute. I have been horn swoggled and manipulated into doing all of these things with this phrase. So I think Wouldja kindly absolutely belongs in the upper echelon of iconic voice lines. I had a different one from Bioshock.
Starting point is 00:27:48 I had a man chooses a slave obeis. That is a really good one too, but I feel like it's not as memorable. It's not as strong, but it's when I remember. Like when I hear it, like, oh, yeah. Yeah, that's deep. That's like the deep. psychological thoughts voicemeline A slave obeys
Starting point is 00:28:08 All right Ace what's up next for you buddy All right This comes from one of the most iconic series of all time That really sort of kickstarted What a Metroidvania's are today Because it's half of the word It's half Metroid and half Castlevania
Starting point is 00:28:25 Specifically Castlevania Symphony Night and the voice line is What is a man A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk. Have at you. What is a man?
Starting point is 00:28:40 A miserable little pile of secrets? So good. So good. He's so good. How about thee? Yeah, another voice line that has been on the show many, many times. Many times. He's not wrong.
Starting point is 00:28:55 You know, if you're a vampire and you're talking about humans, you know what I mean? You're just like, you're just a miserable pile of secrets. Well, depending, like, what you know about Dracula and what he's endured, it makes a lot of sense. He's just like, yeah, you guys suck. Yeah, I can't fall Dracula, honestly. He's one of those, you know, it's like, all right, you know, I at least understand how you got to where you're at.
Starting point is 00:29:18 Yeah, but they killed his wife. So, I understand it. I'm not saying I agree with him. I'm just saying I can understand how Dracula got to where he is. You have more sympathy for him than his son. Yeah. I mean, hey, the best. villains are the ones you can sympathize with.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Yeah. This is true. Yeah. The best villains are the ones that think they're the hero. Yeah. Well, most villains think they're the hero. Yeah. So, yeah. Unless it's just pure chaos. Like sorrow, Sauron, I'm rewatching the Hobbit. Right? So we just, and then Sauron's like, bro, this guy doesn't have any like altruistic ideas. He just wants to see
Starting point is 00:29:53 the world burn. He's just evil. Yeah, exactly. Him and Voldemort. All right, Ryan. What's, uh, what's another one for you, buddy. So this one is a pretty iconic one. You guys mentioned Mortal Kombat in the past here on this episode. I was wondering if we get into some ways. Where again, like you said, Josh, if you say this to anybody, you know, even an 80-year-old, they're going to probably understand or they're going to have heard the reference at once.
Starting point is 00:30:18 I don't know if I'd say this one to a stranger or not. It's the one I'm thinking of. And this one is, get over here. Get over here. Go over here. I don't know that I go shouting that at strangers because you're probably going to get the police called on you.
Starting point is 00:30:35 They would know though. Maybe, maybe. This guy told me to come here. This weird man. Told me to come over here. It's better than walking up behind someone just going, finish him. Finish him.
Starting point is 00:30:47 That's true too. Which might also get you. It was a debate between the two. And I'm like, one would get me, you know, sexual assault and the other, you know, you never know. Just the police called on you. That's fine. That's fine.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Dude, that, I mean, is there, that is probably the most iconic voice line from Mortal Kombat. Other than finish him. Other than finish him. But honestly, I would argue that the get over here is more. Well, think of any, any, I mean, just to keep it tied to gaming, like any game you play where you, like, draw someone in or you go after someone, you know, or you're chasing them and you're trying to get them. You're going to get over here, you know, that's what you're going to say. And you're going to say it that way to reference that, that quote. So yeah, that's the one that's one I went with.
Starting point is 00:31:30 It's just, it's an all-timer for me. Nice. I like it. Nice, dude. All right. So this, this is my last one, by the way. But this voice line is so iconic that it has been made into memes now. For people that don't even necessarily understand gaming, I can't tell you the number of memes that it's like, you know, something the world starts spinning.
Starting point is 00:31:52 And then you go to sleep. And then the screen fades to black. And then the voice line. Hey, you, you're finally awake. Hey, you're finally awake. Yeah. And that is, I don't know how you say this guy's name, Roloff, from Skyrim. When you're on the wagon, this is literally how the game opens up.
Starting point is 00:32:13 What an intro to a game number one. But number two, like, you know, dude, everybody knows that voice line. And you can see it. You're on the wagon. You look at the guy and he's looking right at you in the creepy Skyrim characters. that Bethesda does and it's, hey, you take that back. Yeah. They're not creepy.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Bethesda needs to revamp their character. No, if it's not exactly the same for Elder Scroll 6, I'm rioting. Well, you riot. Also, I would say, I would say slightly in my opinion more iconic is the, I used to be an adventure. That one's pretty dang iconic. That was on my honorable mentions. That was on my honorable mentions because that's the town guards that all say that too. Yeah, it's a big one that you hear a lot too.
Starting point is 00:32:57 of Lydia's dialogue tree. Yeah, right. You could carry your burns. All right. Ace, what's your last one, buddy? All right, wrapping out, I just went for one that
Starting point is 00:33:07 it's more personally iconic to me. Just because I watched so many edits of Bloodbourne and edits of Dark Souls bosses and things like that. And I went for the iconic voice line of Don't think too hard
Starting point is 00:33:21 about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. Don't think too hard about all this. Just go out there and kill a few beasts from German in Bloodborn. It's the first thing you hear from the very first MPC you talk to. Is that the one I sold my weapon to like immediately on accident? Probably.
Starting point is 00:33:42 He's the old dude in the wheelchair who's just like just sitting there in the hunter's dream. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And he's like, hey, don't don't think too hard about everything that's going on here. Just go out there and kill a few mindless beast. And nobody think back to that. other voice line that we did earlier from Bloodborn that admits that the Beast may not be beast. I mean, that's good life advice, man.
Starting point is 00:34:05 Don't overcomplicate things. You know what? Sometimes things aren't as big as we make them out to be. I know what ending Josh would choose for Bloodbored. Dude, I need to play Bloodborn at some point, man. It's like at this point, it's like I want to just hold out for the remake, but, you know, that's probably never coming. So it's like at that point.
Starting point is 00:34:23 I don't even, you don't need it. I mean, it was so good. the graphics were so good and the gameplay was pretty good. Like, I sure it would stand up. I just, it's not, it wasn't for me. It was just too slow, but it's a, it's a good game. I feel like I love it, dude. You probably would absolutely love it.
Starting point is 00:34:36 It's like, aggression is the name of the game. It is aggression. And I love being aggressive. So, yeah, it's the thing that like gets me killed in Eldon Ring more than anything is like, I could totally hit this guy two more times. And then it's like, you died. Well, I, yeah, I enjoyed the combat. But then I was just like, is this all I do?
Starting point is 00:34:50 And I'm like, you found a note or you found this. And I'm like, this is it. But people love it. All right, Ryan, bring us home with your last one. What you got for us? Oh, man. This is one of the most iconic characters, one of the most amazing voices in gaming.
Starting point is 00:35:08 And this one is one that I can do. I can do when I'm sick. And I get my Barry White voice and I have like a frog in my throat. I can't do it as well now. But this one is... Death can have me when it earns me. Kratos from God of War. Death can have me when it earns me.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Death can have me. When they were showing off the god of war, when they were showing the trailers and stuff, and you hear that voice line, I legit got chill bumps, dude. Yeah. Like, I legit got chill bumps with that because it was like, I, dude, I freaking love that, dude.
Starting point is 00:35:50 Because it's like, this man is not scared of dying. He's just saying that it's like when it happens, that it'll, like, I'll die in battle, you know? Yeah. Right. The Curtis has died several times. So this is,
Starting point is 00:35:59 yeah, that's fair. It's not, but he's not scared of it. You know, he's just a bad dude that ain't scared of death, man. And he's like,
Starting point is 00:36:07 death, you want me? You got to come for me. And that voice line in that game every time just freaking just, you're like, yeah, you guys like charge up.
Starting point is 00:36:15 You're like, oh, just like, you know, Master Chief with like, I need a gun. You're like, yeah,
Starting point is 00:36:21 you know? Yeah. It does, it does a few, like really killer voice lines. Even in the original trilogy, like when he first like gets to the bottom of Mount Olympus and he's on top of Gaia and they're like climbing up,
Starting point is 00:36:32 he's just like, Zeus, your son has come home. Yeah. Kratos. I'm really excited for the remakes for the original trilogy, dude, because I really want to see where they go with those. Those games work.
Starting point is 00:36:47 Do we know who's voicing that? And it gives you insight in the original. Original. The original Kratos? Oh, really? Oh, cool. Christopher Judge. says he is not touching him.
Starting point is 00:36:55 He does not want to overwrite that. Good for him. Which is honestly good. Yeah, that's respectful and good. And they're getting the original voice actor for it. I love it, dude. I can't wait for those. Yep.
