Hello fellow gamers and welcome to the Video Gamers Podcast. There's nothing like the memory of that perfect game night with your friends, or maybe it's solo diving into one of the greatest games ever made. Usually those memories go hand in hand with a perfect snack and a cold refreshing beverage. On this episode we'll be going head to head to draft the ultimate game night. But first some introductions are in order. I am your host Josh, and joining me, he's the guy that thinks there's nothing wrong with eating hot wings while playing his PS5 It's Ryan. Oh

I am the opposite of that dude the when I there's a rule in the house to you know, you're touching food You're not touching the controller. So you got to have like a wet towel or something. Oh, man I I I know there's crazy people out there that eat hot wings while I play games. I've seen some controllers online. Oh yeah, oh man. Shame on you people. Yeah, absolutely. And joining us, he asked if we had a limit on how far back we could go when choosing food and games, and asked if 2015 was a little too far back in history.'s ace now you listen here Sonny that was a prime year for game I should have got what I should have done is leaned into the old man thing and then been like 1908 yeah go a little bit further back yeah also I was instantly disgusted by the chicken wing yeah Yeah, well we're gonna we're gonna get into it boys because we are drafting our Ultimate game night. This is gonna be a ton of fun now boys

What is that? What is an ultimate game night entailed number one? You got to have an awesome game to play number two You got to have snacks man and number three, you gotta have that beverage of choice to go along with this night. So what we are going to do is we are going to draft against each other to put together the ultimate game night and then we're gonna let the listeners vote on who had the best game night.

All right, it's gonna be me. Ryan's pointing at himself. But you know, whatever. We'll see, We'll see. And so the rules of this draft are you must draft two games, two snacks, and one drink. So five items total, two games, two snacks, one drink. There is going to be some strategy that comes into play here because where do you go on your games? Do you go multiplayer? Do you go single player? Snack wise, do you do you try to wait and hope that that you know that awesome snack you don't think either one of us

is gonna think about? Do you wait to draft that or do you go man I'm snatching this up but if you snatch up a snack one of your games might get taken man so I love these drafts so much man they are a ton of fun so let's get to it boys yeah we oh yeah we randomized the draft order like we always do and once again I got hosed on this yeah ace gets first pick oh I know and then it goes Ryan and then it goes me now the only advantage to going last is that I do get back to back picks. So this is what we call a snake draft. So it'll go ace Ryan me. And then the next round will go me, Ryan ace rinse and repeat until we each have five things. And

then it's war boys. Bring it on. So yeah, man. That's the rules. I mean, that's it, you know, I mean simple is as simple does Don't screw this up, buddy Don't mess this up man. So ace you got the first pick in this draft. Let's get to it cuz I I had okay. Actually before we get to it. Let me Like I assume that in y'all's minds you have this perfect draft where you're like, bro If I could get these two snacks to go along with this drink and these two games It's gonna be the greatest night ever and everybody's gonna vote for me. All right ace take it away, buddy I am really curious what your what's the this is the most valuable pick in the draft ace because you don't get to pick Again for a while. So whatever you take is saying like this thing's got to carry me you know what i'll start with taking one of my games because i think between the things i have on there this is probably most likely to go first and i will be drafting marvel rivals because dang do i enjoy a good game night of marvel rivals with my buds okay yeah that's a solid it's on my list It wasn't like top top, but that's a really good pick because the ability to with like game nights You know doing custom matches and having that option is pretty neat too. That's a good one

Oh, yeah, I mean it was it's always enjoyable to just also everybody. Yeah All right a starting off with Marvel rivals, all Currant, so... Yeah, you know... Alright, Ace starting off with Marvel Rivals. Alright, Ryan! Okay, so... I can draft from anything right now? I can do snacks, I can do anything? Okay. You know your boy's going snacks.

I'm gonna go with the numero uno, the best thing in this whole draft. I'm going with pizza rolls, baby. Dang it! No! No! thing in this whole draft I'm going with pizza rolls baby really OCD about the germs or contaminants on your controller That's an option. I just pick them up at the corners, you know and boom Good you gotta be careful not to melt your mouth. Yeah That's how you gotta do it You got to do the bite test you bite the corner and then you see how much steam comes out

Oh, man, you know, you won't be having a call out with a burnt mouth like I'm gonna call out through the burnt mouth like, ha ha ha ha! Dude, I freaking love pizza rolls. That was gonna be my first pick. And Ryan, for a second, I was like, he's gonna take Doritos, man. He's gonna take Doritos. And then you didn't take Doritos.

And I was like, man. All right, well, I at least get the one thing that I wanted more than anything in this draft. And that's Mountain Dew, boys. There is no other beverage that is associated with wanted more than anything in this draft and that's Mountain Dew boys there is no other beverage that is associated with gaming more than Mountain Dew. When you think of any sort of iconic game night iconic list of food or drinks that goes with gaming it is the amazing the delicious the energizing refreshing Mountain Dew. It is also I don't drink much soda, but Mountain Dew is legitimately my favorite soda Maybe that's cuz I've been a lifelong gamer. I don't know which came first the chicken or the egg

What flavor? Baja blast is the best by far dude. Little Caesar's heart attack special. And I was just like, I had a slice of that. It's delicious, but I literally felt myself dying with everybody too. I've had two since then. Oh jeez. Oh no. Just give me an IV of plastic and grease same thing all right so mountain do for me

These are the ones that everybody goes for first and it's cool ranch Doritos boys That is that is the best delicious chip. I'm gonna go with a game. That is you know Fun, it's it's inclusive. You can have a lot of people playing and it's just a good old-fashioned 30 year long-standing Party game and parties in the name. I'm going with outstanding party game and parties in the name. I'm going with Mario Party Mario Party that is a good one man. That's a good game night those Browns take a while They do usually about 45 minutes to an hour how to lose my friends 101 Play Mario Party with them

What's the what not the best Mario Party game, but you know how it's you can do like 2v2 What's the, not the best Mario Party game, but you know how you can do like 2v2, it's every man for themselves, or you do the 3v1, which format of game is y'all's favorite? I've always really liked the free for all, where everyone's against themselves. Running around like crazy. Like the boxing one where everyone's just punching randomly all through there. Like that one where you gotta draw a shape out and everyone's trying to do it at the same time. I like that one where you gotta draw like a shape out and everyone's trying to do it at the same time. There was the one, believe it or not, the one that I was absolutely just baller at was the time one where it's like you have to count down like eight seconds and stop the stopwatch like as close to eight seconds as possible. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Bro, I don't know what it is, but my brain can keep track of seconds, man. I have no time memory. but Ryan's first game. I wanted to go another snack, but I'm like I got my take Mario Party real quick I just wanted Mountain Dew that was the I was like bro if I can get Mountain Dew out of this draft More than anything else like I'm good that and pizza rolls, but alas alright ace We are back to you, and you get back to back picks man, so man Back to back picks well You know I'm have to start with my snack and one of my favorite snacks to have when I'm gaming is a nice hot Plate of taquitos Oh, that's pretty good man. They're clean. They're tasty. They're easy to make easy to make. What do you do?

Huh? What do you dip them in? Oh usually like a I have a Chipotle ranch. I like to dip mine in You dip them in how usually like a I have a Chipotle ranch. I like to dip mine in Cream is good cuz they just kind of I like sour but a ranch is probably even better Oh, yeah, especially if you get like the sure wrong with you people's ones Ryan's like salsa man You want salsa dripping on you while you're trying to get what kind of salsa do you eat? the kind in a jar Trick with the taquitos is if you mush the end a little bit it kind of flattens it out so that you can scoop more salsa Love Mexican food, I know all the ways I love Mexican food. To make a to keto spoon You pop them in half so then you have the crunchy bit on the outside as your handle There's a lot that goes into this Process here, I feel like Ryan needs to teach like a class Yeah All right, so to keep that's a good one I'll be honest man, and that was not even on my list and I got a pretty big list because I was worried about you Fools taking stuff man Yeah, they're so good. Oh, they're delicious man. Yeah, not bad price-wise either and my second thing I wanted something salty

But I also I love to have a sweet snack with me. So I'm gonna take Oreos I was wondering which cookie was gonna go off them. I was like it's gonna come down to Oreos or chips Ahoy Yeah, I love a chewy chips Ahoy. Don't get me wrong, but man's you can't be Oreo. Because chewy is superior to the regular crunchy chips ahoy. We've already established this on this podcast, too. Yeah, we've already gone over this. We already all knew that. And you made the right choice there, Ace. So all right, Oreos.

All right. That's a good. So Oreos and taquitos as Ace's two snacks, man. I love it. It's so good. OK, Ryan, we're back to you, buddy. Back to me. All right. I'm gonna go with another game I'm gonna get my games out of the way because that's what we're all here for right? Tumbly rumbly, but I'm gonna go with another classic, but when you're feeling a little more sweaty

I'm going with Halo party fun game yep all right Mario Party and and Halo I wish I now do it are we gonna make run I guess are we gonna make me be specific I'll say infinite hello infinite and yeah not three you don't want. You're gonna go all the way back to the original? I mean they remade it. Not the original. He's probably gonna go to 3. 3 is the choice, man.

But I'm not picking Halo 3 yet. Anyway, so I get back to back picks, but let me recap for a minute, boys. Ace! You have Marvel Rivals as one of your two games. You are done with your snacks. You have taquitos and Oreos,

both really good gaming picks by the way. Ryan, you have pizza rolls, you jerk. Mario Party and Halo Infinite as your two games. And I have Mountain Dew and Cool Ranch Doritos. I'm the only one with a drink so far. So I'm curious where you guys are going to go on that. I had a big list of drinks, man, but I got what I wanted on that.

I'll tell you what, we're going to take a quick break and then we'll come back with my two picks. All right, boys, we're back. It's my pick. I get back to back picks on this. I am torn, man. I have my drink. That category is done for me. I have one of my snacks. I, there are a couple things where I'm like, man, I have some snacks on my list that I really want. Um, but, but ACE is still

in the running for a game. Um, I don't think he will pick one of the games that I want. But I'm a little worried on the other one. So I am going to say for my ultimate game night, I want I want to go back in time a little bit, man. I want to recapture those college days of playing GoldenEye with the boys all night long, man man I expected that one I know there's I know you youngsters out there are going golden eye what but my goodness boys was golden eye in its hey Dave the game that everybody wanted to play and if you were

at your buddies playing gold night together you were having the time of your life man man I wish they'd remake this one already so I could experience The problem is is like there's so many good shooters now that I don't I Legitimately don't know that you could remake a golden eye and have it be what it was man Oh, you have to change the formula so much that it just wouldn't be golden eye anymore But like you can't not make it where people can look up and down looking in golden eye it was just side to side man like so how do you capture this like old jankiness I don't know I don't know how they would do that but

golden eye to me it like when I think about my ultimate game night bro Mountain Dew cool ranch Doritos and golden eye is like perfection to me so far do that for about a year and then Perfect Dark comes out and then you got superior? Look, I know Perfect Dark was a great game. I am not slandering Perfect Dark, but the the Golden Age of GoldenEye, there was no Golden Age of Perfect Dark. There was nothing else like it. Yeah, there was nothing like it. It was definitely ahead of its time for sure. Yeah, I'll take your word for it. Yeah, I know. Ace is like, you old folk around here, man. All right.

And then I'm going to take another game here because I don't want to lose out. And this is where it gets a little tough because I do have some single player games. And you know, an ultimate game night for everybody. I mean, we're social gamers. We love multiplayer games, but not everybody is like I don't always want to play You know games with my buddies or something like that. I like that So I'm really really torn between two games on this one actually three

so I Man, this is so tough Dang it Dang it. I Man, I have like four games on my list. Why don't we limit this to two games guys? You know what I mean? Like so many ever quest you're gonna play. No. Yeah All right, man, I'm gonna go a single-player game because This is a little bit of pandering

to the people that don't like multiplayer, but I'm going Red Dead Redemption 2, boys. I am taking Red Dead 2 because- Never heard of it. I know. We chatted the other day, you might be hearing about Red Dead 2 sooner than you think, buddy.

So part of the ultimate game night thing here is that you want to lose yourself for hours, right? Like sometimes when you talk about a game night, ain't no ultimate game night lasting 40 minutes, man. Like you want this game night to last like four, five, six hours, and you need a game to play that can just be engrossing that you can lose yourself in. I want to just ride across the plains of the Old West on my horse

with the music playing in the background. Maybe I rob a train. Maybe I kidnap some passerby and take them to the swamp and feed them to the alligators. Who knows? But I got that option and it's quite possibly the best game ever made, especially for something like this. So I'm taking Red Dead 2 to go along with my multiplayer game and Maybe pander to the voters You know people are just gonna see that there You know I got I got the nostalgia hit for for the you know the the gamer dads and then I've got the newer like best game Ever made for the for the newer crowd. So who Mountain Dew and Red Dead

best game ever made for the for the newer crowds. So, oh Mountain Dew and Red Dead? Oh yeah, exactly. Now the good thing with Red Dead is uh, because I mean it is same as like GTA, it is that you can play it serious and do missions and stuff or you could just go wild and tie people up and line them up all along the train tracks or go in and just cause chaos in a town or go hunting. There's so many options that also lead to laughs, which even though it's a single player, everybody's kind of involved, which is cool with those types of games. So that's a good one.

I mean, not to harp on this too much, but again, an ultimate game night doesn't always mean multiplayer. I mean, how many nights have you just lost yourself in a game that you look at the clock and you're like, bro, how has it been four hours? Like, I literally feel like I just sat down and playing this. You're eating snacks, you're drinking your Mountain Dew, you got your Doritos. You're just like, bro, I'm living

life to the fullest right now. You know, like this is, this is as good as it gets, man. Man, I remember those nights. Yeah, exactly. Those were the days. All right, Ryan, we're back to you, buddy. Now you have your two games, you've got one snack. So where are you going with this next one? I am going to go with another snack. And it is in the chip form. It is not Doritos. It is far, far superior. And you can eat it with salsa if you want. Well, I'm going with nachos,

baby. Nachos? Nachos. And you can eat it with salsa if you want. Well, I'm going with nachos, baby nachos Full plate of nachos. Big old plate of nachos. With all the fixes? I'll give you some more highlights in the Ryan Masterclass. With sour cream and guacamole? If you want. And jalapenos? You can get real wild. No, I mean these are your nachos. Pickled jalapenos. Absolutely. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. Nachos? So, so the trick is you take a dishcloth or like a kitchen rag and then you just wet the end of it. So then you can just wipe your fingers off on the wet end and then your can's good for controller or keyboard.

I, okay. That's a lot of effort. Nachos are one of my favorite foods in the world. Oh, they're the best. I love nachos like few other things in the world. And I get out of here with these individual nachos that restaurants trying to serve you where it's like they're pre-made and they like circle around the plate. Bro, if in any heaping mound of just slop thrown on there and the more stuff, the better dude, beans, corn, like meat, like whatever,

throw it all on there, man. whatever throw it on Exactly now I will say on nachos chili or meat Gotta have meat for sure. Yeah, but I don't like chili. I've never had chili on nachos That's something like if I go to a restaurant and I'm like in I Legitimately have to ask them like is this chili or do you guys do like the shredded beef or chicken and then they're like It's chili. And I'm like, nah. Nah, shredded chicken for sure, man. Yeah, you gotta get some sort of shredded meat.

I like beef, you know, you just typically, if I'm doing nachos, I'm gonna. Exactly. And then just the best, the most amazing cheese or that plastic slop that's out of a pump, like I don't care, I'm gonna eat any nachos. Well, the cheese doesn't matter as much to me, to be honest. It's just kind of like the glue that holds it all together So that the toppings don't fall off exactly. I will say man eating nachos while trying to game is like I

Don't know But that's when you like you have a respawn time And then you just like all right, and you sit back and you can just munch away for a little bit And you put your stuff down and get back to it Alright, and you sit back and you can just munch away for a little bit And you're like, oh, and you put your stuff down and get back to it Cuz you get that one nacho that don't want to let go of the other four nachos around it to where you're like Is this gonna fall is it gonna break and then you start to eat it and it all just falls on you and you're like Oh, man

So and that is how you spend three minutes on nachos. Yes You can tell we're hungry doing this episode. All right nachos great pick man wasn't on my list cuz I was like I would never Have thought to bring not just to a game night. Yeah, okay ace These are your last two buddy you get back to backs on this one back. You're done Game wise I've already picked a multiplayer game with you know lots of camaraderie and teammates But maybe I want a game that I could play single-player Or I could just bunch up with my two closest buds, and I'm thinking Why don't why don't I play remnant 2 tonight?

It's both man, it's the best of both. You can play it single player or with friends and you get the same experience. Bro, you are preaching to the choir, Ace. Preach it some more, buddy. I love Remnant 2. Buy all its DLC so we get Remnant 3. Oh man.

Good tech, that was a good one. Okay, I legitimately had Remnant 2 on my list I'm going to buy all its DLC so we get remnant 3. Oh man. Good pick. That was a good one. OK. I legitimately had remnant 2 on my list, because to me, this is absolutely the best game night. Like with my buds playing remnant. But then I was like, people are sick of hearing me talk about remnant 2.

Nobody's going to vote for me if it's on my list. They're just going to be like, yeah, whatever, Josh. So it makes me so happy that Ace is like, let's do it how much did he pay you how much it is the perfect game in solo play works great yeah and play with friends with friends even better even better it's's great. I love it. It's so good I'm gonna play run to make Ryan play this because Ryan is gonna lose his mind, dude Probably will right I like I am I am so confident that you will absolutely love remnant to when you play it that I will Be willing to bet a lot Time this summer I think so. Yeah. Yeah, maybe we'll see especially after how you reacted to night rain you're gonna love remnant 2 that's that's my guarantee

like bro listen for all the people out there remnant 2 blows night rain out of the water in my opinion I'm not slandering night rain because night rain is great and I love Elden Ring but if you're talking about a game that is like just pure fun with your buddies and masterfully done remnant. Yeah, it's so fun fact no I ever heard of water? Yeah. So fun fact. No. I knew a guy that I worked with that never never drink water. I have such a hard time remembering to drink water. It's a pain. All

you would drink is like Gatorade and like soda. I've never saw him in a year and a half. I never saw him drink one sip of water. I hear a half percent of what I drink is and I've worked with him five days a week. Oh my gosh That's crazy. That's not I I have the occasional Mountain Dew like on the weekend like in the morning I might have a cup of coffee and then maybe an hour or two later I'll have like a can of Mountain Dew, but otherwise I legitimately just drink nothing but water. Yeah, that's how I am My fridge kidney stones for sure Are we just like thirsty for like life saving fluids?

I don't know The other day I had finished a gallon and a half of water by like 3 in the afternoon Gallon and a half? Well Ryan works outside and it's 113 out today Okay that's fair I'd be running to the bathroom like every 4 seconds No, no you don't go to the bathroom either He just let it out, dude.

I'm the last pick man. This is it. This is gonna end the draft here and I have to pick another snack Boy, what a tough one man. I'm just gonna throw out some honorable mentions On this because there's so many good snacks dude number one chicken nuggies, dude Yeah, you can eat chicken nuggets while you're gaming that ain't no thing and it's got to be the dinosaur ones cuz Like tempura battered ones at least. Oh, you bougie, like, bro, if I'm eating, just throw in some Tyson chicken nuggets in the air cooker, man.

Mmm, chicken product. You guys are like, who can I get some beer battered Tempura nuggets, you know, with all-weigh meat chicken? Veins and saline solution. Yeah, exactly. This was a chicken once, I think. That's not my pick, though. I'm just saying that's on my list.

Parts of this were chicken. If we're going, if we're going old school bro combos, combos were the jam back in the day. Yeah. Um, but I need something sweet, man. I can't, I can't just do salty. I'm not Ryan. And so I need something that I can just pop in my mouth that has a ton of flavor.

I'm going sour patch kids as my other snack more It's gonna be so good they don't get on your hands either So they're pretty clean to eat but that way I can I can have a little bit of sugar yellow sour patch useless by the way Oh, what's that yellow yellow one? Yeah? Sour Patch useless by the way. What's that? Yellow? Which is lemon. Is there a hierarchy to Sour Patch? Oh yeah, the red is the best one.

Blue and red. You guys each said a different one. They all taste the same to me. They're just sweet and sour. That's all that matters. They're totally different. Really? Yeah, they're different flavors. They're different fruits. Maybe I like them all. I'm an equal sour patch lover apparently

Chex mix was my second cuz bro Really good checks mix like the muddy buddy ones where it's like the chocolate and like oh, yeah But those can be a little messy, but checks makes was like the underdog pick where I was like This is delicious to snack on but I don't know that people are gonna like, you know. Chex mix is only a snack when there's no other snacks. Dude, I don't know about that, man. Yeah, I was gonna say, you haven't had good Chex mix then, if you're saying that.

We ain't talking just the plain flavor. Yes, exactly, you get the little sticks, the little bagel chips, like the seasonings, they got the garlic salt on there. Oh, so good Alright boys, okay, so let's let's review here real quick. Alright, so the teams are my team is My two games golden eye and Red Dead Redemption 2 my two snacks are sour patch kids and cool ranch Doritos and my drink is

Mountain Dew. I am enjoying, I am loving this game night, boys. I am not going to lie. I'm loving this game night. All right. Ryan's team, his two games are Mario Party and we're just going to call it Halo Ryan, not to lock you in there. I was just trying to, uh, and Halo, uh, his, his two snacks are dang it, man. These are good snacks. I think this is what's carrying your team in. Our nachos and pizza rolls, two of my favorite foods in the world. Oh, man.

And then his drink is Red Bull. That's probably the weakest one, in my opinion. Not to slander. Dude, there's so many better tastes. We have Monster in here. I know Monster at least tastes good, though, though, man. Red Bull tastes terrible, dude. Red Bull is the worst. Red Bull, I'm not trying to slander your team, but Red Bull is the worst tasting energy drink in existence. You're saying Monster's tastes like the soda machine

where there's like no carbonation. They're just syrup garbage. What are you talking about? I forgot you don't like flavor and sugar, so What's that? NOS is better than both of them. I've never had a NOS Yeah, I don't know all right And then ace's team his two games are Marvel rivals and man the pick of the draft remnant to all the winners play with friends His snacks are taquitos and Oreos taquitos is not something I thought about at all, so I actually like that. Yeah, that's a good one. And then Ace's pick is the far superior tasting Monster Energy drinks compared to Red Bull.
