When WestJet first took flight in 1996, the vibes were a bit different.
People thought denim on denim was peak fashion, inline skates were everywhere,
and two out of three women rocked, the Rachel.
While those things stayed in the 90s,
one thing that hasn't is that fuzzy feeling you get when WestJet welcomes you on board.
Here's to WestJetting since 96.
Travel back in time with us and actually travel with us at westjet.com slash 30 years.
This episode is brought to you by FedEx.
These days, the power move isn't having a big moment.
metallic credit card to drop on the check at a corporate launch.
The real power move is leveling up your business with FedEx intelligence and accessing one of
the biggest data networks powered by one of the biggest delivery networks.
Level up your business with FedEx, the new power move.
Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers podcast.
The world may be a buzz for Crimson Desert, but there's tons of gaming news.
going on that you definitely don't want to miss, and we're here to keep you caught up on all
that's going on in the gaming world.
From the future game show showcase that just happened, and oddly no one is talking about,
to Papa Jeff Kaplan emerging from the shadows with what really happened with Overwatch
and to announce his new game, we've got all the gaming news, chat, and more for you.
But before we get to that, some introductions are in order.
I am your host, Josh, and joining me, he told me if he doesn't get at least three action RPGs a year to play, it's time to start firing people.
It's Ryan.
Get him out of here.
Get him out of here.
I want more.
Give him more.
Ace, I'm sorry to do this to you.
And joining us.
You're not sorry at all.
Play the Spire 2 might be the biggest indie to come out since Hades 2, but it's too mainstream for him to play.
it's ace.
It's not too mainstream for me to play.
I was playing a different indie game.
Oh, sure.
How much Lay the Spire, too?
You played Ace.
I don't have it.
Oh.
Exactly.
Exactly, Mr. Indy guy.
I do have Slay the Spire one installed.
I just haven't started it because I was playing Binding of Isaac.
Wait, have you never played Slay the Spire?
No, I was gifted it so I could finally play it.
Wait.
wait a minute pause the episode here people wait a minute whoa whoa whoa do this scratch
so wait i've admitted this before our indie expert the guy who is the guy who has his finger
on the pulse of the indie world has never played one of the greatest indie games in the indie world
yeah i haven't played it i played inscription when i was playing a
card gate based rogue like unbelievable unbelievable
the freaking
shut up Brian you've never even touched slay this fire
I don't like indie games
you know what Ace? We expect this from
Ryan we expect more from you
okay I was playing Mr. Sleepyman
yeah
they don't expect anything for me
what are you talking about? Yeah exactly
there are no expectations for me
I worked hard to develop this reputation
what do you mean? Oh my goodness
I am, well, listen, everybody, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry that you tuned into this podcast and had to find this out with us.
But we just found it out too.
So, you know, oh, look at, Ace just drowning his sorrows and, in, listen, listen, that's not going to make you feel better.
It's not going to fix things, Ace.
Put it down, man.
Put it down.
There's better ways to solve your problems.
Better ways.
Don't do it, Ace.
Don't do it, Ace.
I love it, man.
There's so much to live for him.
Listen, if people want to.
to see us mercilessly troll ace.
You should check out the pre-show,
where we get very, very in-depth into the amount of sugar that Ace has consumed today alone.
Wilford Brimley may show up.
It's truly shocking, by the way.
Like, truly shocking.
And we did the math, people.
So how do you get the pre-show, you ask?
All you have to do is sign up on Patreon and you get access to every pre-show that we do.
And believe me, they're worth it.
I'm not touching that bottle the rest of this episode.
We'll see.
That's what you said like four chugs ago.
It's going to be like, Ace.
Ace.
He's drinking.
Eat you, buddy.
Just, just take a sip, Ace.
I'm putting it in the cat.
How is it even still cold, though?
You're feeling parched.
You're like sitting out, like chugging it that long?
I know.
It's like, he keep putting it back in the fridge when I think I'm done with it.
And then it pulls me right back.
Yeah.
All right. Well, listen, welcome in.
We're out the reels at the intro.
We're off the rails at the intro because Aces Chug and Sugar.
You know, this is, this is what this show is about.
I'll take some water, sugar water.
Oh, my goodness.
Guys, so we've got, listen, we've got some news to talk about.
We have the future game show.
We've got some trailers and games that we're going to cover.
We've got to just get into this, guys, because there's a lot to cover.
So, however, I do have a controversy.
question for you guys.
All right.
And for the listeners out there,
we want to know your thoughts on this
because this came up
with one of our favorite developers.
Some would say you pronounce it
Ubisoft.
We say Ubisoft
because we don't care what they think.
Ew.
So, you know,
Ubisoft was in the news again
because they came out
and they said, hey,
people need to get used to
developers reusing assets.
when they develop games.
Ace is just shaking his head because he's like, guys, how worse can it get?
Because it's always Ubisoft is saying dumb crap like this.
It is.
Which is why I always point out when Ubisoft does something stupid.
Gamers got to get used to not owning their games.
Oh my gosh.
Which the first Quadruple A title, guys?
Yeah, they're always shoving their foot in their mouth when they have nothing to show for it.
You should get an Ubisoft tattoo.
I already have one.
Oh, don't show it, Ace.
Don't show.
There's a family show.
Family show.
All right.
So here's my technicality.
There you go.
Is reusing assets in a game lazy development or is it smart development?
I think it can be both.
I think if you're using them in a clever way that actually amplifies what your game is about and what you're doing with the game, it can be done well.
If you're just literally doing an asset flip, like the most basic of basic games.
Like what was that one that was basically a scam, zombie survival game?
I cannot remember what it was called.
How many?
The day after or something like that.
Oh, the day before?
That was just an asset flip.
Ah.
Yeah.
That is not a new.
That's not a clever way to reuse assets.
Well, the thing you said, you hit the nail on the head there with like clever.
You have to be, yeah.
You have to be clever.
you have to make it.
I'm fine with it.
You can do whatever you want to do in the development of your game.
Yeah.
If I'm going to go through content I've already played or a world or anything that I've
already gone through, do something different, make it feel different, make me not noticed
that I'm going back through it.
Exactly.
And I don't care at all.
Yeah.
Not one bit.
If it feels like unique original gameplay as I go through or I'm coming back through a land
for a certain reason, like you tie it into.
something, that's totally fine.
I would not consider that lazy
gameplay, and even that's probably smart
development to
do that to save resources if you're going to
tie it into your story. But
if you're doing it, like you said, like an asset flip,
just doing it to just add and pad.
It's like soft bloat that they add to games,
like things to just add extra.
Like, we don't need that. And gamers
are smart. They're going to, they're going to
figure it out. And they are the most
obnoxious, ridiculous
bunch that we've come to find
They will let you know about it too.
Oh, yeah.
So they're going to tell you.
For me, if you want to reuse animations, that's plenty fine.
Like, dude, you took the time to develop an animation for something and it's consistent
through your game.
Completely makes sense to me on something like that.
If you want to flip and use the same map and the same in-world assets, to me, that's a problem.
And one of the biggest examples that I had issue with on this was Tiny Tina's Wonderland.
Okay.
Yeah.
So for borderlands.
You know, this was sold as like, it's its own game.
It's this expansion.
It's this, you know, this whatever they wanted to call it at the time.
I paid $40 for it, you know.
And then it was like, this is literally just everything that was the same about the game before with the one exception of the overland map.
And I took big exception to that because that was a major asset flip.
You know, unfortunately, Ubisoft got in trouble with this with Far Cry primal,
where they literally used the exact same map from Far Cry.
three, it was either three or four, but it was legitimately the same exact map.
And I did not notice because of the setting.
I didn't notice.
See?
And this is, this is actually part of this article that this was pulled from is, is the guy
was talking about it.
And they got caught.
And at one point, somebody said, tell gamers it's the same map, but it's prehistoric
time.
So it makes sense.
And they went, no, we're not going to say anything.
And then, of course, gamers found out.
And they were like, they're super mad now because they're like, you don't.
didn't even change the map, man.
All you did was rip the map, you know?
And then, like, and then they got big,
they took a lot of heat for this.
And it's like, so I think,
I think there are times where it makes sense,
but I think there are times where it just,
if your game feels exactly the same
as the game before and then you sold that to me
for a premium price and it's called it new,
and it's not new.
I have a big problem with that.
If you want to reuse animations in God of War,
because this is how Credo swings an axe.
Okay, well, that makes sense.
right like that's okay but if you started like copying pasting like crados's house or like the
dwarven houses or something like that all over the place and you're like look how new our game is
and it's like well this isn't new yeah then i have a problem with it so do you think that was uh part
of the issue with like tears of the kingdom with uh for me absolutely tears of the kingdom felt like
it was just hey we took breath of the wild we made this guy island and we gave you some zonai devices
and otherwise it's the same game,
but not as new feeling and fresh.
And we rehashed a bunch of stuff.
And that is one of the major problems I had with Tears of the Kingdom
is I was like,
it's one of the reasons I never picked it up.
I just didn't,
I was like,
I've done birth to a while.
This is not the game I was expecting it to be.
All right, Ace, clip that so that we can get Josh roasted.
I mean, I've always stood by, I think,
Tears of the Kingdom is overreary.
Josh will always stand by his word on Tears of the Kingdom.
I'm proud of you though for calling something overrated.
It's good.
It feels good, doesn't it?
Well, yeah, some games are overrated.
Some games aren't, you know.
All right, guys, let's get into the news.
Also, you know, for those out there listening on Spotify, you can leave us a comment.
Leave us a comment.
We want to know, do you think it's lazy development or is it smart?
The guy was arguing that it speeds up game development.
And so why not reuse these assets?
I just think there's a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it.
And unfortunately, who seems to take the wrong way.
You have to do it in good faith.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, Ace, I was going to ask you of your thoughts on this,
but since you've never played this game,
this little game called Slay the Spire,
this might be news to you.
Slay the Spire, too,
has hit three million sales in one week.
Insane.
Is this a surprise to anybody?
Not even slightly.
We already knew this game was going to be big.
The game dropped in early access and broke Steam,
by the way,
for like the first hour.
and then from then on it's just been flying off the shelf like hotcakes.
People love the multiplayer.
People love what they've added.
What's the same?
Most people have no complaints about Slay the Spire 2.
I troll you, Ace,
but you guys just take a guess how many hours I have in Slay the Spire 2.
Now, mind you, I've been playing a lot of marathon lately.
22.
I was going to give you about 19.
I'm saying 19.
I have 30 and a half hours.
No way.
guys. It's so good. It's so good.
As much marathon as you've been playing, you've got 30 hours and
14 hours of marathon in like a day and a half.
We're a judgment-free podcast, guys. We don't judge people, okay.
But listen, Slay the Spire 2, fantastic.
The co-op mode is so fun, dude. It is legitimately. It's so awesome that they added this.
We've already kind of talked about some early thoughts and things that Slay the Spire 2 can do better.
but kudos to them.
This is one of the largest indie hits right next to Hades.
I mean, if you picked two indie games that said,
what are the two, like, global indie games,
Slay the Spire and Hades are at the top of their game, man.
So congratulations to them for three million sales in one week, dude.
That's insane.
That's so much money.
Yeah, that's a lot of money.
Because I think it's 25 bucks.
It's 25 bucks.
Yeah, it's $75 million.
In a week, dude.
Imagine, like, developing a game so sick that, like, then when you come out this sequel, like, people are just lining up like that in a week, you make 75 mil.
Like, that's so cool. Good for them, though.
That's early access, too, Ryan.
But, yeah, and that's early access.
They're going to make even more when it drops full release.
Yeah, that's true.
Yeah, full.
Also, for anybody curious, the early access content is just as much as what was in Slay the Spire One, if not a little bit more.
I caved and bought the early access because I couldn't wait for the full release on this one.
So you should be playing Slay this.
Josh and Patient, no.
I know.
I know.
All right.
Well, you guys want some bad news to follow that up with?
Oh, I guess.
This is a huge, this is a huge womp, wamp, wamp for me.
CD Project Red.
One of my favorite developers, by the way, one of my favorite studios, they can, I mean,
I was going to say they can do no wrong.
They can do wrong.
Oh, they did.
They did wrong.
You know, but the future is bright, people.
The future is bright.
But this, this.
this is kind of kicking the jewels, man.
They came out and they said that they officially are ruling out any future content for
cyberpunk 2077.
There goes any chance of multiplayer.
That was in the cards at one point.
That was in the cards at one point.
Oh, what?
Come on, man.
I was having a good day, Ace.
I didn't think about that.
I was having a good day.
Yeah.
It goes any chance of multiplayer, any inclusions of the cyberpunk.
anime.
That's it.
How do you take one of the best
games ever made?
Honestly,
cyberpunks in like my top five games
guys.
Like it is a freaking masterpiece.
How do you take that?
And honestly,
Phantom Liberty,
one of the best DLCs ever made.
We've said this time and time.
That DLC is killer, dude.
It's so good.
It's absolutely.
It's sick, dude.
It is so good.
And then you go,
yeah, we think we're done
with this game.
My only hope is that they're
developing cyberpunk 2030, 2080, 2078, I don't know, you know.
Maybe it's your prequel and it'll be 26, 7.
I hate you.
I hate you.
I was right.
I keep doing these for my son.
I have to.
I'm sorry.
Oh, good.
I think it's very odd that we only got one DLC for cyberpunk, which did phenomenally once
they fixed it.
But we got what, three for the Witcher three?
Like three different DLCs?
Yeah.
Or two.
Is it two?
It was two.
I think it's two.
two. Yeah. Because it was
a heart of stone and blood and wine. We're the two
and witcher ones. This is what, this is what started
this whole thing was that people were saying, hey,
there's a secret Witcher 3 DLC that's
going to be coming out. And then CG product
red said no. And then they also said, and then no, we're done with
CyberPont. And to kick you while you're down.
Yeah, there's two. Hearts
of stone and blood of, blood and
wine. That's okay. Yeah, I thought there
was, it's just weird. We only got one
for Cyberpong. But I guess
they had to go back and clean up so much of their
best too it's like come on man it it just means they're moving on to the next one that's my opinion
kind of like witcher four instead of just doing 15 dc's they what you know what let us just make the
next game in the series and so i hope that's the case with cyber i'm pretty sure it is i think they're
just all hands on deck for witcher four i'll be real yeah that makes sense so all right and then i'm
curious if you guys care about this one bethsda is teasing teasing major starfield news next week boys
Oh, I'm sorry, you say something?
Todd Howard.
What, you don't trust Todd Howard anymore, A's?
About as far as I can't see him.
Where is he?
Where is he? Mr. I'll sell you again.
Where is he?
Oh, down there.
Oh, there he is.
Just shut up and take your nylon bag, Ryan.
Yeah.
I don't think I care on this one, man.
Not even remotely.
Do I care about this?
Now, Ryan, you were the highest on Starfield out of all of us.
Is this exciting for you?
So I pulled it up.
I have about 80 hours on on gameplay.
Not as much as I thought I would have had.
But last time I played it was January 7th of 2024.
Mind you, it's your profile picture on Steam, by the way.
I know.
It looks super cool.
It looks super cool.
It's got to go to.
I love space too.
Yeah, I love space.
Yeah, I'm going to start with again.
I'll be honest.
You would have to tell me that you completely
revamped this game.
Like completely revamped Starfield
to really get my attention. And I'll be honest
Todd Howard, he's a great speaker.
He's a charismatic dude, but I'm not sure
I trust this guy anymore. I feel like he's like a little
trickster guy. No, he's a weasers.
No, I don't like him.
I don't like Todd Howard. He's a weasel.
Weasel man. Yeah, he's a weasel.
For sure. I don't know.
He's going to make it sound like Starfield.
It's the next greatest thing. They're
fixing it all and then it's just going to be
a midgame again. So, I don't know.
Well, you know, I'm sure we'll be talking about whatever news comes out about it.
I want to be able to run more than 10 minutes.
Okay.
Let's not get too soon.
Let's not get into that.
I'm kidding.
No, no.
Really, I think, I think it's just one of those things where it's like, um, the IP from
Bethesda has just been kind of so lackluster.
Whatever after having such amazing products as in Fallout and, uh, Elder Scrolls.
And then you come out with Starfield.
And it just, it didn't sit well.
it didn't hit right.
And that's okay.
Like, you can't hit them all.
It's not all going to be absolute perfect bangers.
You can't,
but you can't sit there and act like,
you know,
it's the people that are wrong.
And,
oh,
wait,
we're going to do this.
We're going to do that.
Like,
exactly.
You,
you put,
we love your product.
Give us what you've always given us,
you know,
and we'll love it.
But you have to evolve your product.
You know what I mean?
Like,
you have to,
like,
kind of,
yeah,
kind of.
With Ubisoft is like,
you know,
Far Cry is the same freaking
game it's been for the last five iterations, like Assassin's Creed. Like, I know they keep trying
different things and some of them are different, but it's like it's the same thing. And so this is
the trap that I feel like Bethesda's fallen into where it's like, dude, everybody was expecting
Starfield to be this like major leap forward because it had been a freaking decade since you had a new IP.
And then it was like, it wasn't a bad game. I'm not trying to say Starfield was bad, but it was
definitely disappointing for the expectations that we had. Yeah. And so.
this is the problem is like your game just feels old.
Starfield feels old to me and that's not a good place to be.
Felt old, looked old, played old.
But I am, you know what?
For anyone who's excited out there for any more Storyfield news, I'm glad for you.
I mean, if you love this game, I'm happy for sure.
Absolutely.
It's going to take a lot to get me excited for whatever they announced next week.
You know, so.
Guys, this story, I love this story so much in a way, but then I hate it in a way too.
So Jeff Kaplan, anybody that played Overwatch in its heyday and was around for the start of Overwatch 2 knows who Jeff Kaplan is.
We finally refer to him as Papa Jeff.
The gaming community loved Jeff Kaplan, dude.
He was the head of Overwatch.
He had some high up ranking in Blizzard as well.
But this guy, you know, Overwatch was his baby.
He's the one when Project Titan failed.
You know, Blizzard was making this like massive game.
game called Project Titan and then they decided that it wasn't going to work.
Jeff Kaplan's the one that said, hey, I think we can take a portion of this game or a part
of this game and turn it into something great and thus Overwatch was born.
And Overwatch is one of my favorite games.
Like, you know, and so, but then all of a sudden, Overwatch 2 is coming out.
They start doing, they still really start screwing everything up.
And Jeff announces that he's leaving and he's retiring, you know, and everybody was like,
no.
And then sure enough,
Overwatch 2 went to crap
because this is when every character
was in the battle.
We can't make this in Overwatch 2 episode.
But, you know,
everything went to crap when Jeff left.
And he was just silent.
He retired.
Nobody had heard from him.
And then this interview comes out
where Jeff actually opens up
and he says,
like, do one of you have it pulled up?
Because I'm just going to let one of you roll with this.
Because this is crazy to me, dude.
Like where,
basically we want money
you have to give us money
yeah they're not
give us money but like you you need to make
us money you have to make us money if
this is this is the
the specs I forget I read it
I don't have the exact numbers but I
you know it's basically along the lines
of this is what we need
from you you have to make this amount of money
or we're laying off your entire team
all of these people all these people
will be without a job unless you
make this money. How scummy is that?
Oh, how
absolutely crappy and scummy is that? With the game that was so
freaking successful? Like,
peak of its lifetime.
If Overwatch League was doing great,
everything was doing great, and then
they just nipped it all in the bud.
Like, they didn't even care. So,
here's the action, here's what it says. So Kaplan says he was called
into the CFO's office, so the chief financial
officer for people who don't know what CFO stands
for, and told that,
Overwatch needed to make a certain amount of money,
though they didn't disclose how much that was, okay, in 2020,
then continue to hit a given revenue target for every subsequent year,
or else Blizzard would lay off a thousand people beyond the layoffs.
The CFO reportedly told Kaplan that these firings would be his fault.
And that threat broke Jeff Kaplan and drove him to hand in his resignation and retire.
Yeah.
Do you think maybe he came back to say all this because they reverted everything back to the way it was?
Maybe.
And they even took the two off the name.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean,
ultimately proving him right.
Ultimately proving he was right the whole time.
So my goodness, dude, if you ever want, this is why, you know, these mega company corporations, Activision, Blizzard, you know.
They do not have your best interest in mind.
Keep that in mind.
Yeah, and it's sad. It's the sad nature of this, this, this, uh, this hobby and this passion that we all have with gaming, but it's not always. It's not always good. There is a hard part to where, I mean, these companies, they have to make money. Like, it's a company's job to make money as an entity. But it's like to what extent do you go with that? Like to where do you draw the line between investment within your company and like your, your client base to what's my return, you know? And, and, and, and.
And if that counterbalance isn't there, like, where they're just like money, money, money, money, money, you know, and they just want the return.
And they're not, yeah, they're not putting in the investment.
And they're not doing the right people.
And they're laying everybody off so they can cut the bottom line.
Everybody else on the list is just, you know, they're just a number on a spreadsheet.
Like, that's when you start to lose touch.
And then people see that, like especially gamers.
Like, we already talked about in multiple episodes and all over time.
gamers are finicky bunch man when we'll they'll call you out they'll yell and scream and they'll
go run to the internet and they'll they'll all talk on forms and posts and blogs and everything and
they they will they will let it be known so you can't you can't mess with them they're almost
worse than carrots like it's it's they get gnarly well said so it was good to get some kind
of clarification that's not the kind of clarification that we want to hear but also that's the
truth, you know, and then that just sucks, dude.
So he also used this time to reveal his new game because he has actually been working on a game as well that's called the legend of California.
This is a open world action Western adventure kind of first person shooter-ish type game.
Very on par like or influenced by like Red Dead Redemption, like a lot of overlap, a lot of shooting mechanics.
and stuff like that.
I'm sure we'll be talking about this game in the future.
There is an official trailer for this game.
Again, it's called Legend of California.
We don't know a ton about it just yet,
but I'm sure we'll be talking about that more.
I'll be honest, I love Papa Jeff.
So if he's making a game and he's passionate about it,
then he's earned my respect
and I'll probably be checking it out.
My brain immediately went to comparing this to Z-killer.
Kind of, yeah, I mean, I can see that too.
You know, again, this was just,
kind of an announcement trailer so we didn't get a ton.
There is some gameplay.
It's kind of, I don't know what to think of it yet.
So, you know, people can watch the trailer.
It remains to be seen.
Yeah, and it remains to be seen.
So, all right, listen, we're going to take a quick break.
We're going to have to fly through this future game show stuff.
I'll be honest, there's not a ton of amazing things, but there's a couple of games that we have to talk about.
We'll be right back after this break.

All right, guys, the future game show.
We didn't even know this happened.
We totally missed this one.
We're so, foo.
Yeah.
We're so dialed in in the gaming world in these showcases and events.
And then all of a sudden, like three days later, we were like, what the heck?
Another one?
The future game show like happened.
Another one?
Yeah.
So, all right, listen, we're running out of time.
So we're going to have to fly through these.
There's this game, Blight Survival looks freaking incredible.
This is probably one of the premier game that was shown off.
We covered this game like two years ago.
Ages ago.
I remember ages ago.
Yeah.
Yeah, and then and then we got to further look at it.
This is a medieval co-op like survival horror game.
Yep, PVE survival horror game.
Yeah.
Where you play as knights.
It looks incredible.
You play as knights.
There's zombies.
There's enemy like factions that you're trying to avoid because you're creeping around and
avoiding the guards and stuff like that.
Very visceral, very good visuals.
Crunchy, scary, atmospheric as anything.
This game is absolutely on my radar.
what we got to see looks incredible.
I like that. Crunchy. That's a good word for it.
Crunchy is a good word.
Crunchy is a good word for it. I like it.
So Blight Survival should absolutely be on your radar.
This was a, I think it was like a five-minute trailer.
A lot of it was creeping around and just stabbing zombies through the face.
But it is a co-op as well, which gets me really excited.
And this game looks top-notch to me.
Yeah, it looks fantastic.
It's still in development.
It's still a ways away.
But my goodness, this was easily the premiere thing that they showed
off in the showcase.
Last flag.
Now, Ace, I had to ask you because I was like,
bro, we've seen these trailers before.
But this game looks like a lot of fun.
And then you were like, you freaking turkeys,
I brought this up like five different times.
And then I guess it never made it in one of the shows.
So many times I have posted the steam length for this game.
And everyone just scrolls past it.
Oh, anyway.
Well, why don't you explain quickly, Ace,
what last flag is and why you're excited?
excited for this. Well, last flag is a
fast-paced 5V-5 hero
shooter like all about
Slop! Not another hero show!
I know. I know.
Where you
are playing Capture the Flag
which if you've played Halo, you probably
love Capture the Flag mode.
That's the one mode I really do
love from Halo is Capture the Flag.
Oh yeah. And the whole point is you
and the other team will hide your flags. You'll try to find
the flags, bring them back to your base. And then you
need to defend each flag for 60
minute or 60 seconds not 60 minutes that'd be crazy that's gonna say that'd be kind of crazy
wasn't it you got an hour stand your ground no but you have to defend the flag for 60 seconds and
then you win yep this game looks like dumb fun um it really does look like it's going to be a lot
of fun to play um this is also by the lead singer of imagine yeah this is developed by the lead singer
of imagine dragons like what the heck yeah uh it looks like a lot of
a lot of fun. It has my interest. I personally am a fan of hero shooters that if they're done well.
This one looks like it's fast-paced. It's very cheeky. It definitely doesn't take itself too seriously.
And I think that's going to lend itself to a lot of fun. I like the fact that you get to hide your flag anywhere.
Anywhere on the map. Trying to like hide it. And so the other team can't find it. And then you also have the hero shooter aspect. I think this one looks like a lot of fun. And Ace, I don't know why you never brought this up before.
I don't know. Why didn't you tell us about Fortnite hero shooter?
Yeah, I don't know, man.
I just didn't feel like it, I guess, that day.
Or any of the other four days.
Yeah.
Ace is going to send us screenshots with dates where he's like,
You guys, this is 100% Fortnite 8 hero shooter.
It's, that looks pretty fun, dude.
It reminds me more of deadlock, but yeah, I guess so.
Yeah, I guess deadlock a little bit, yeah.
The combat and the characters are going to make or break this game in my opinion.
If you have unique characters, because that's what I felt Highguard was missing was unique heroes that felt like it mattered what
class you picked. They just did a
collab with Nikki Minaj. Lucky you.
Highgart did a collab with Nicky Manage. No, I'm kidding.
I was a buddy boy, I don't know what you're on
about. I think Highgard is throwing
grenades into the show.
Like just, yeah. Highgard is dead
in the ground, homie. Oh, man.
All right, moving on.
We've got a game called Hello Sunshine. I
actually think this game looks pretty good, dude.
This is a Shadow of the Colossus
pipe game or Eco
you know you've got this gigantic robot companion shadow the colossus might not be the right
reference there but you basically have this giant robot companion earth is just getting cooked
cooked or whatever planet you're on gets cooked by the sunlight you die if you go out in the sun
you live in the shadow of this robot you follow it around it kind of defends you uh it's just it looks
like this sweet iron giant kind of like cozy game but like i don't know man there's something
about this that kind of resonated with me and got my curiosity on
this one. It's like, it's like post like Wally World. Like, you know, it's like post earth or whatever and you
have like this giant robot and it's like, you know, the Earth's just been destroyed and, and you're
cruising around trying to survive and survival mystery game. So yeah, uh, no, this, this definitely
looks unique. I love, I love games that lean into having some just big buddy with you. You know,
that's always there and like part of, part of the gameplay throughout like the entire, you know,
play through so no i i think this one looks pretty neat i'm excited for it i feel like this is kind of
on par with other like stressful survival games kind of like raft where the whole thing is you're in
a place you need to stay in that place but you also need to gather materials
right so what this is go out but you always have to come back yeah you have to stay in the shadow
of the robot but you know you need to go out and get materials too otherwise you're going to die
so i i could see this being very fun but i could also see this being very tedious it just depends
if they can balance that.
How they pull it off. The robot looks awesome.
That reminds me of like real steel
designs. Kind of.
Yeah, a little bit.
All right. And then this next one guys, this one
it's pretty rare that a trailer
really, really just, I'm like laughing
and I'm like, I'm in. Like, take my money.
Like, here's my car. Take my money.
It's a game called the dungeon experience.
Like, I...
How does one explain this game?
This is, this game is, this game
is the funniest freaking trailer that I think I have seen in a long time.
I think I DMed it to you, Ace or at work or Ace and Ryan and then you watched it and
you were just like, oh my gosh, within 30 seconds you were commenting on what was happening
in the trailer and then I'm like, just wait, it gets better.
This is a hilarious, hilarious take on the dungeon crawler experience.
This is comedy kind of like high on life.
You know, we don't want to mention the guy that, but you know, it's this like just in
insanely funny comedy where they are poking fun at everything that is going on.
I literally laughed through this entire trailer, dude.
Like, I'm in.
I'm in on this game.
It's goofy.
It's fun.
It's that kind of comedy that really just tickles your brain.
It's the crab, like,
the mud crab.
Yeah, that's,
I don't know, dude.
He's like,
Ryan's going to meet all these unique characters.
And it's the mud crab in different costumes.
Yeah.
It's the most ridiculous, insane.
comedy but it just works
Ryan's gonna include a link for these
in the in the episode description watch this
trailer watch this one if you don't watch anything else
we have here watch this
I'm in on this game I don't care about
I don't care I'm in you know that's it
all right and then one other one real quick because we're out
of time Caldura this one
this to me is the next evolution
of like the voice over IP
playing with your friends
this game we have very very
limited gameplay but this game
is crazy it is a four
player co-op online psychological horror game where your sanity is like is comes into play on this but you can't trust anybody
this game learns your voices using voice over IP and will mimic being your other party members
and it's it's bananas dude what did I call it I called it Cordura right you called it Caldera that's
what I heard caldera oh cordura sorry it's called quarter at the other game that we're not going to cover
So Cordura, C-O-R-D-U-R-A, thank you, A-S.
Dude, we have been saying time and time again
that using a microphone and people's voices for more in a game
is like untapped potential.
Mechanics that people should be utilizing.
Bro, the developers even say, I'm just going to read this, right?
It's, you venture into this dark procedural labyrinth
where people are calling out and giving directions to you
if you're the adventurers.
So you have people that are kind of like directing things as well
and tracking the threats and trying to guide this operation to avoid, you know,
players dying and stuff like that.
But then it comes out and it says like you cannot trust what's going on
because you have to use the proximity chat in this game.
But the game listens to every word and your steps in the game.
Oh, my God.
And you can face like unpredictable results and it will mimic your party members and your
players.
So if I'm walking up to you and you hear Ace, Ace, it's me, it's okay.
And they're like, oh, thank goodness, it's Josh.
And then it freaking kills you and it's not even me.
That sounds amazing.
Bro, this is the next step for this multiplayer horror genre where the whole point,
like the whole point of the game is just to break into this place,
steal something, right?
But it's haunted.
Yeah, steal the night roses of the night that are like insanely valuable.
Yeah, like that's the whole thing.
And it's, it's AI.
So it's not like, oh, I'm up against a person.
who's doing all this.
You can't predict what's about to happen to you.
Yeah.
It's just like phasmophobia.
I'm going to get, I'm going to get Ryan, resby, resby.
Yeah.
And I'm going to run over and then I'm going to get the wrong direction.
It's shanked in the throat.
I want to see this in action, but this premise sounds freaking fantastic to me, dude.
Honestly, I love psychological horror.
Playing it with friends is incredible.
We've seen a glimpse of this with outlast trials where every now and then when you go crazy.
You think it's your teammate, but it misspells the name on your teammate by like a letter or two.
And then it stabs you in the cuts.
But like for a second, you think it's your teammate, right?
And then you're like, oh.
And the chaos for sure, yeah.
Lean into that, man.
Lean into this.
I think the premise of this game sounds incredible.
The game looks really good too.
Yeah, the graphics look good.
You know, we didn't see any action, like much gameplay.
They did show you kind of walking through hallways and stuff.
But visually it looks really good.
That's a game called Cordura.
So keep your eyes on this one as well because,
If they pull this off, this will be something very unique and really, really interesting to up that, like, voiceover IP and proximity chat type stuff.
So, all right, there you go, people.
