Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the Video Gamers Podcast.
The Xbox Games Showcase showed off some pretty incredible games.
a deeper look at Fable and holy moly is it looking good and more and we've got all the details you need on this awesome episode before we get to the games some introductions are in order I am your host Josh and joining me he's the proud new owner of a steam deck so maybe now he actually will be picking up all those games he said he would it's Ryan
why you got to keep putting me on blast man i just said you have a reason now ryan the amount of gaming
i'm going to do in bed is is substantial i'm sorry all your instagram people i'm not going to be
doom scrolling anymore i got a steam deck now thank you mr mxsweddy i love you yeah hey shout
out to mr mxwettie awesome guy number one i freaking love mr mxsweddy just super cool guy played russ
with him and some other games and stuff uh but that he was the one that uh that took care of
this getting Ryan this Steam deck.
So huge shout out to you for being
awesome man. Ryan,
what's the first game that you're going to
buy for your Steam deck now that you can play
games in bed? Going to buy?
I don't know about the first game. Because you already have Eldon Ring.
We know you're playing it. But like, so what's
a game that you're going to actually going to pick up
because of the Steam deck?
Well, I don't know if you notice in the picture.
Like when I did it and like booted
up and linked my Steam
account to this, it has
the Eldon Ring thing. And then the next thing was
subnautica.
So I wonder
how fun playing
Subnautica 2 in bed
just chilling and just vibe it on the
ocean would be.
Okay.
I like it. Because you never beat Subnotica.
Yeah.
Best around. It's not out of the realm of
possibilities. That's for sure.
All right. I like it.
All right. And joining
us, the only
AAAs he wants are the
batteries. It's
A's insane to use lyrics from a song you just heard
Best line ever
Listen
Listen I did courtesy of DeZombi so since we're given shoutouts here
The Zambi sent us a song that he had made for the podcast
And it had the line that Ace only the only triple A's Ace wants or batteries
And I even told him I said bro that made us all laugh
We're going to steal that for the intro
So shout out to DeZambi as well for that line
But man it got a chuckle out of all of us though
It's also kind of true
That's the best, the best comedy is the stuff that's right and true, and that's exactly true.
I don't think I use batteries for anything.
You don't use batteries?
No, all my stuff's corded, man.
You're ace.
What?
We live, it's the year 2026, dude.
You know that like we have like batteries and wireless things.
Look, this bad boy.
Notice.
I charge it like once a month.
No strings attached to me.
No strings attached to me.
Yeah, but the string is good.
It means I never have to get up and replace the battery.
I got no strings to hold me down.
Ace, listen, I'm going to give you a quiz at the end of this episode.
So I'm going to be nice and prep you.
I want to know which AAA game and you can only pick one out of all the showcases that we've talked about during our summer spectacular that you are most excited for.
All right.
So you don't have to answer it now.
Just think about it.
Okay.
Because we got to talk about all these Xbox games.
So, all right, listen, welcome in everybody.
The Summer Spectacular continues.
This is the Xbox Game Showcase, as promised.
Another banger showcase, if you ask me, guys.
I mean, I think Xbox knocked it out of the park on this one,
which is crazy because the state of play was awesome.
The Summer Games Fest was awesome.
We've got the Xbox showcase now with a ton of really,
really good games to talk about.
and just to tease it for people,
Nintendo announced their Nintendo Direct.
Now, by the time you're listening to this,
the Nintendo Direct will have already happened.
So, you know, we're kind of in the future a little bit here.
If Nintendo comes out with a,
with a decent direct,
we're going to add that to the summer spectacular.
If it's like, okay, Nintendo,
there really wasn't much there.
We're not.
So this could be the last episode.
episode of the Summer Spectacular or Nintendo will do something well enough to go,
okay, guys, we got to do an episode on the Nintendo Direct.
So it remains to be seen because the Direct hasn't happened yet.
We're leaving that up to Nintendo.
What do you think?
Listen, I don't think Nintendo is going to have the same showcase that Xbox and PlayStation
had, to be honest.
I feel like they needed to do this, but I don't know that they have enough in the chamber
to make it exciting.
The only way I see that happening, and we've been saying this for the last like two or three Nintendo directs, is if they announce a new Zelda game, a new Mario game or something, or something, if this is just a freaking bunch of remakes and a new Pokemon game or something, people aren't, this is the end of the summer spectacular with this episode.
I mean, it's going to be a 50 minute direct, which they haven't done for like 10 years.
There's not been a 50 minute or 15?
50. It's almost an hour long.
I mean, I would love to be surprised. And it's got a
and it's got like a 30 minute post show.
So. Okay. I'd love to.
I mean, dude, I have a Switch 2 now. I would love some amazing.
You are such a Nintendo guy now.
Yeah, you're such a Nintendo guy. Hey, hey, Ace, do you have a Switch 2?
No, I don't. No, no. Ryan, do you have a Switch 2? No, no, no, I don't.
No, I don't. Who has a Switch 2? Oh.
The C button, Ryan?
Josh has a Switch.
that it has the C button on it, dude?
I'm telling you, man.
The C button you can't use to hang out with your homies?
Yeah, yeah.
I'm just saying, dude, Nintendo's doing it all right.
Josh's going to be playing Star Fox.
And you know what?
Actually, I changed it.
I'm fully in on the Nintendo Direct.
There we go.
It's going to be the greatest Nintendo Direct they've ever had.
It's going to wipe on the other direct side of the wire.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What I want to know is why, like, after all of these years,
you said it right there, Josh, unless there's a Zelda or,
or Mario, which are 30 plus year old IPs.
Why is that?
They're great.
They don't do anything else.
Nothing new.
There's nothing new that's of quality.
It's either a remake.
You don't like turn-based games, so yes.
It's either a remake or you get Zelda and Mario.
Okay.
I'm with you.
Let's dive.
What is the most recent new IP that Nintendo has come up with?
Oh my gosh.
I have no idea.
Arms?
I might be arms
What the heck is arms
That was the boxing game for the switch
It was the launch title
Is that a new IP?
Yeah it was a new IP
I don't remember that one
So if that's the actual answer
Then that means Nintendo is floundering
Is floundering
Because it would have been Splatoon otherwise
Splatoon is whatever
Splatoon is cool, shut up
It's I mean it's all right
Ring Fit Adventure
Oh ring fit adventure
adventure, yeah.
Is that an IP?
Yeah, it's an IP.
I mean, I'm talking like a new character.
You know what I mean?
Ringfit girl is a new character.
She's part of the new fitness program.
First party.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay, this just tells you Nintendo.
That's what I'm saying.
This is what I'm saying, though, is like we get all these things.
And then Nintendo's like, if they don't just make a new version of this stuff we've
seen for three, more than three decades, then, you know, we're going to be disappointed.
But no, people should, I know a lot of people like Nintendo.
I'm sorry if I'm going to offend you.
it's garbage. They're just, they're just like,
just, they're just, oh. There's the thing. If they announce like a new
Animal Crossing or something, they're going to win no matter what.
Regardless how we feel about it, Animal Crossing sells. That's so horrible.
That would be, that would be sick, but I'd still be upset that
there's nothing new, new, but I would be stoked for Okerina time.
For sure. Or you know what? Not even the remake. Just give us a new Zelda game, dude.
and a current modern Zelda game, dude.
I'm in.
Why can't they make anything new?
Because they don't have any innovation anymore, Ryan.
That's why.
That's making all their Pokemon money.
Astral chain two, fingers crossed.
All right.
Well, listen, this is the Xbox showcase, guys.
Yeah, that works for talking on Nintendo.
Let's give Xbox their dues and stop ripping on Nintendo here.
All right, quick, real quick from you guys, overall thoughts, overall, like, rating for the Xbox show.
What did you guys think?
They might have had some of the heaviest hitters when it came to just big names with new games or even fresh IPs.
I was very impressed with the Xbox showcase.
They have been lacking, to say the least, the last couple years.
And they came out swinging with this one with their new CEO.
And what is it?
They gave out green Xbox ones to everyone who attended.
Yeah, the X-25, which is like a clear Xbox series.
Oh, gee, throwback, baby.
Yeah.
the old old throwback.
Yeah.
I'm very impressed with what they've done.
What about you, Ryan?
Agreed.
Yeah, I think this was one where Josh, you courteously set everything up for us with these lists
and the games that were being released and you put a nice little neat thread in there.
And I remember looking at each one and watching each game in sequence and watching the trailers
and going, wow, that looks kind of sick.
Oh, that looks kind of sick.
Oh, that's neat.
you know, and you just keep going.
I'm like, man, all these are great.
Like, this is awesome.
So I think the, what they did was great.
I think they have a lot of heavy, like you said, Ace, a lot of heavy hitters.
And it's, it's one of the better showcases that we've had so far.
And, I mean, they've all been great.
But this one, there's a lot of ones that I'm going to play like 60 or 80 percent.
Like, it's right up there.
Yeah.
Yeah, I agree.
I think this was one of their better showcases in a while.
Yeah.
You know, we got, we're going to talk about these, but we got look at Gears of War, Ede, finally.
We got see gameplay for that.
We got a more, like another look, I'll say, at Fable, where they showed off an actual
lot of gameplay and some of the story and stuff like that.
Clockwork Revolution, we got a really nice trailer for, we got the reveal of magician the devil's deal.
We got a surprise look at Senoa, you know, and a lot of other ones, man.
So we're going to dive into those.
I don't want to spoil everything here.
Don't give away the big one.
Yeah, the big one that we got no lookout whatsoever, Ace.
Okay.
All right, well, let's start with Gears of War E-Day.
You know, this was the big thing that they said,
hey, we're going to be talking about this.
We had the E-Day kind of direct or whatever they called it,
where they really gave a breakdown on this one.
You know, this is the prequel to the Gears of War series.
This is the E-Day stands for Emergence Day.
This is when, you know, what are they called the, what is, what's, John a blank, the hive?
What's the name of the, what's the name of the bad guys in Gears of War?
I want to, I want to say, no, is it the hive?
No, the, everybody's Googling.
Google faster.
Really quick.
The locust, the horde.
That's it.
Yeah, I was like, wait, that's not right.
I said hive.
At least my brain knew it started with an H.
I was asking someone who hasn't played in those games.
I know, so, you know, this is the return.
this is the return of an absolutely beloved franchise that I will say I do think they ran into the ground just a little bit.
Gears of War 4 and 5 did not hit the way that I think that Xbox did or we're hoping for.
And Gears of War kind of fell off the face of the planet for a little while.
Do you think Gears of War E-Day is bringing the franchise back?
Looks wise.
Maybe.
I could see it.
It looks really, really good.
I got to give him that.
I just don't know how much interest there is left for cover shooters like this.
Oh, there's a lot.
There's a lot.
Yes.
I do think the cover shooter like this still exists.
Yeah.
Ace, you said you've never played a Gears of War, right?
No, I haven't, no.
Okay.
So.
But this is a great plus a start than a prequel is a prequel.
Yeah.
Well, that's, this is why I love it.
So based on what you saw with none of the nostalgia or history, like Ryan and I have with Gears
of War,
on its own merit,
what did you think of Ede?
I think it looks interesting and unique,
which we haven't seen in a while.
Having no investment into the franchise
and where it's going and what happens.
I have no idea what happens after Eday
because I haven't played.
I haven't played any of them.
So starting with Eday,
it intrigues me being able to start there
and then work my way through the franchise that way.
Sounds fun.
I think it looks great.
It looks modern.
I'm so excited.
I'm just curious how the cover shooter mechanics
work out.
Bro, when he's in the trailer and he's just getting choked out and he's like,
and then it's just the chain cycle's right through him.
And I was like, yeah.
I was like, this is what I'm talking about.
I am so stoked to have, to have God of, or not God of War.
Gears of War bad.
Gears of War.
God of War is coming back too.
We got to start clarifying.
We have so many games going on right now.
But Gears of War is back, baby.
Um, it is, it is one of those, uh, so like we said, Ace, you didn't have the experience with it.
But like when this came out, there was just something different about it.
And there's, when you play this game, there's so much like weight to the characters and wait to the combat.
And there's, yeah, it's, it's like, dude, you're like plonking along and it's, you thud, thud, and in the shotgun just feels so powerful.
And, and the enemies feel so powerful.
There's, there's just so much there.
and you get amped up and excited and you're emotionally invested and there's,
I just, it's, I'm, I'm beyond excited for this one.
I was there at the beginning and I'm going to get to see like the origin of it,
which you know I'm an origin guy.
So this, you love a good origin story.
I love an origin story.
It's up your alley for sure.
To see Dom and them like getting, getting set up and I just, I'm, I'm just grinning.
I know.
I'm like so excited, dude.
I'm just so excited for this one.
God, I don't know.
I'm just, I'm ready.
I'm ready.
I can't wait.
I can't wait.
I loved what I saw on this one.
You know, I think they managed to make sure that they kept that feeling.
Ryan, you said, Gears of War has always been heavy.
Every footstep, every sprint, every time you slam against the wall into cover, you know, you feel it.
I mean, they captured that really well.
You know, I love the origin story with Dom and the locusts.
emerging for the first time and all that.
I think the gameplay looks awesome.
I think the graphics have been updated and upgraded to 2026 standards.
I really like a lot of this.
I will say there is one thing that I hope that they tweak between now and the October
6th release is, and maybe this is just times have changed a little bit, but like multiple times
throughout the gameplay that we saw when you're lighting up one of the locusts, they don't, like,
it's like they don't respond.
know what I mean? Like the hit registration and they like, you know, at one point the guy flanks,
like, Dom flanks one of them and he's shooting him in the back. And it takes like two seconds for
the like the locust to turn around and be like, oh, I'm getting lit up from behind. So it's like,
I do worry a little bit about like the AI in the, and you know, the AI meaning like the enemy
behavior in this case. It could have been a lower difficulty as well what they were showing. It could have been. It
could have been. And that's like, like I said, so I am amped for the return of gears of war. I just
hope that it feels like a modern game and it's not like bullet spongy and like slow to respond like
AI from the enemies and stuff like that. I think the feel of the game feels right on point. I loved
what I saw. So I am excited, but I am also maintaining like a slight bit of like skepticism that it's
going to be as good as I want it to be if that makes sense. You know, like I want this to be the return
It's going to be so good.
I hope so.
You have the Ryan guaranteed, bro.
This is going to be a 9 out of 10.
I guarantee it.
I mean, it probably is.
I think I'm just trying to maybe temper some of my like hype on this at the same time
because I really want this game to be amazing.
But we also did get the official release date October 6.
So thankfully it's not coming out in September.
Here's the problem.
Doesn't Galactic Racer come out like October 5th?
I'm pretty sure it does.
So we're already into like,
September is absolutely crowded with games.
And now it's like, well,
we're not going to release in September,
but we're just going to release in really early October,
which doesn't really help us out a whole lot for having to.
Yeah, October 6th.
October 6th.
Oh my gosh.
They released the same freaking day.
No!
What are we doing?
Why?
No.
All right.
All right.
You have to choose between the two.
What are you picking?
No, I was, you know what?
That question popped in my head and I was like, I'm not going to be that mean.
I'm not going to ask you to choose.
I mean, honestly, like, honestly, and I'm, I'm, like, I'm, like, galacal.
Oh, I'm racing.
I mean, give me, I know that sounds crazy.
I know there's people that are like, what?
Like, whoa, you guys grew up with gears of four.
I can go, we can go back and kill a bunch of the locust and stuff down the road.
I want to race with all our community.
and like have a community night with the pod racers and everything.
It's going to be so good.
I know.
So as crazy as it sounds,
if you're asking us to choose,
I choose you.
I choose you.
I do you want to say,
though,
Xbox must have some serious confidence in this game because they were like,
it's exclusive.
Yeah.
This is an Xbox exclusive.
We were going to give this to you PlayStation.
Well,
we changed our mind.
That's on PlayStation.
That's not on Xbox.
Oh, no, no, that's a hundred percent PlayStation.
Stabbed themselves in the foot there.
Yep.
I agree.
All right, let's talk about Fable because guys, listen, I know there's been hype for Fable.
Since the first trailer we saw, do you guys remember the very first one where it was like all
cinematics?
Yeah, it was all cinematic.
Because the protagonist was ugly.
And then there was like the giant, you know, the giant guy and stuff like that.
And it was all just cinematics and people like, yeah, where's the gameplay?
And then we got a trailer that showed off some of the gameplay.
And then we went, is this real?
Like, Fable's looking like a true next-gen game.
And I'm going to say this, guys, as much as some of these games look awesome to me, and I am super hyped, Fable might be the game that I think is actually pressing the envelope for being truly next-gen.
Does that sound crazy?
No.
I don't know.
No.
What about it makes it truly next-gen do you?
Okay, so Ace, so Ace is too young to experience the original fable.
like when it came out
and it's not a shot at you buddy
but like this is like
I don't know
last time I talked about Fable
we got attacked on the internet
so that's fine
I'm not gonna say much
no it's just you weren't you weren't
you know you were like
a few years old or whatever it was
but like when the when the original game came out
like there was it advanced so much
it was unlike anything I had ever played
like you could really advance
through that world you could do
you know the the honor system
to where you grew the
horns or you grew the, you know, the, uh, halo and stuff like, or whatever it was. Um,
there was so much there. I think this one is going to push the boundaries again, especially
after how long it's been. And the advancement and technology and development, you know,
ability and in, and the money that's in gaming now, I really think they're going to, they're going
to press it hard and make something that's next gen that everybody's going to be like shocked at.
For sure.
Yeah.
Ace, you ask, so to me, it is the combination of all of the combat that we have seen looks
really good to me.
You know, I mean, we're seeing multiple weapons.
We're seeing magic.
We're seeing range combat.
None of that is new, mind you.
But the way that they're doing it with that freedom of choice really, like, you know,
that speaks to me because I like combat that it's like, I want to play the game this way, right?
The voice acting so far has been spectacular.
the cinematics that are in-game cinematics at the same time look freaking spectacular.
The fact that the world responds to everything you do, I think is spectacular.
Like even the charm of this game just stands like head and shoulders above a lot of other games.
Like at one point in this most recent trailer we got, like you see a guy walking up to this like talking face,
you know, where it's like it's almost like an entrance to a cave or something.
And the face mocks your appearance because of the armor that you're wearing.
You know what I mean?
Like I think you see the humor where the one girl like, you know, is ripping the guy because and there's some language involved where she's like, you just threw my brother into a fiery abyss, you know?
And it's like that wit, I think Fable is truly going to be the complete package of a game where the gameplay, the story, the graphics, the characters, the world all coalesce into this like truly, truly epic.
title that like I think is going to rival some of the greats dude like legitimately i'm getting
the vibes of like cyberpunk witcher red dead like some of these greats because it's rare when
a game can put everything together but everything i'm seeing about fable is like pointing
towards that dude and i can't help it like i've actually tried to resist the hype and to get
like too excited for it but like dude this last trailer showcased so much yeah
You know, then I'm just like, dude, this, it might be it, man.
Like, it might be it, dude.
You know, so.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know, man.
To me, it looked like it had, like, the storytelling and the, like, choices of the
Witcher, the world of Baldersgate 3 and just really good combat.
So it all looked really good.
It's just like, I couldn't figure out, like, what made it special yet.
So I guess I just need to get my hands on it to understand what people is.
Yeah, it's one of those you have to experience for sure.
Because to me right now, it just looks like another.
fantasy RPG that pays attention
to what you do. It's the
he'll see Ryan, don't worry.
That's not a bad thing.
No, no, it's not. I have nothing to
compared to. Yeah. And that's fair.
But there's nothing to compare to. I think we're seeing
like a total package here
of a game. Like that to me is what gets me
excited is I legit think like all
the systems in this game are going to work
together and that is going
to stand out. So
well, it's going to come out this year, right?
What's that? No, it's coming out in 2020.
Yeah, no, I got pushed 2027.
I know. February 23rd.
We do have a concrete release date.
It's already been delayed once, so I have a feeling that this will actually release.
I've heard that before.
I know.
I'm going to be really curious to see, like, I think there's going to be a big fight over some of these games that are releasing in 2027 during our game.
Oh, it's going to get nasty.
It's going to get real nasty.
I think so, man.
All right, listen, we've got to take a quick break, and then we're going to come back.
We're going to talk about another game that I think.
I think the three of us are absolutely just fawning over,
and that's a game called Clockwork Revolution.
We'll be right back to talk about that one.

All right, we've been covering Clockwork Revolution for a while now.
This is not the first time we've talked about this game,
but we got another like seven-minute trailer for Clockwork Revolution.
that showed off the characters.
Like this is,
I think these are the main characters like in your gang
because it was called the heist.
And it kind of is showcasing the,
the people that are in your like gang.
I'm just going to call it.
And you were planning this heist.
And it,
you know,
it goes wrong.
We see that in the trailer.
But this is another in-depth look at Clockwork Revolution.
It looks so good, bro.
It looks so good.
Immediately.
I get the,
vibes of like dishonored and
Bioshock infinite from this game from its
steampunk aesthetic and the way it presents itself.
And then you throw in the freaking time loop
mechanic there where you fail at your heist and then you get
sent back what was it 25 days or something like that?
20 years.
25 years, that's right. It was 25 years.
Oh my gosh. Yeah.
That's insane. This game is insane.
Yeah.
Ryan, what did you think about Clockwork Revolution?
I'm on the same vein.
It's, oh gosh, it's something different that you can get such amazing games to compare it to
or ones that like, hey, I'm getting these vibes.
I'm getting this feeling from this game, you know, so I know we've been high on it for
quite a while and it's awesome when you're really, really high on a game and they just keep paying
you off and they just keep giving you more and everything they give you.
And it keeps that hype going and it keeps you excited.
and it just keeps going and going and then, you know, once launch hits,
like you're right there and you're all in on it.
But yeah, every time they deliver, I'm even more excited.
Everything new I see raises my hype meter.
This is one that we're definitely going to talk about and cover,
and I can't wait for it to come out.
I'm excited.
I feel like I'm saying this all the time now,
but Clockwork Revolution has shot up
near the top of my hype meter, dude.
Like you said, this game, everything we see, dude,
screams this is going to be an absolute blast of a video game.
The characters being wildly different
and having so much personality.
The gameplay, we see things like shooting.
We see things like Bioshock.
We see the clockwork with the time reversal mechanic
and how you can change the world.
We see these interacting with characters
in the world around you.
We see like shooting.
putting pipes to make them catch on fire and burn enemies and traps and things like that.
Ace, I think you nailed it. I mean, this feels like a true evolution of
Bioshock and dishonored, wrapped up in this really cool kind of steampunk aesthetic that
looks really good. I love the art style. This screams like AAA production to me.
I am unbelievably amped for Clockwork Revolution. If you are listening and you don't know what
this game is. You absolutely need to understand what Clockwork Revolution is because this game
looks like it is going to be pretty dang groundbreaking, man. I don't know what more we can say
on it, to be honest. Coming out in 2027, we got that again. Not again. That's releasing in 2027 that's
going to be amazing. I don't think I'm going to get that for as cheap as I got it this year. Yeah,
No, that one's going to go for a lot as well, man.
Okay, this one, this one we had never heard of before this.
So this, I think this was a world premiere.
This is a world premiere.
Yeah, this was a world premiere for this game.
Yeah.
And it's a game called Magicians, the Devil's Deal.
I don't know that I love the name necessarily, but the gameplay did everything it needed to do on this one.
Ace, how would you describe this game, man?
you are a magician who has been sacrificed by,
I guess your own people,
sent down into hell and you make a deal with the devil
that you could run and escape it yourself, I guess.
And then it just goes into this first person mode
where you're fighting demons with your magic wand cast and spells out.
I'm like in almost like a Bioshock-esque moment,
which I know everything's Bioshock now.
Trust me, if I could find something better to compare this to, I would.
But this is very much like the same feeling as using Plasio.
It's in Bioshock, except for it's a magician's silly little want.
Yeah.
And you run it through hell.
It looks cool.
It did look cool.
No, I, uh, I, I kind of again, the same thing.
Like, man, this, this showcase was awesome.
Like, top tier.
All of these, all of these games were great.
Like, everything looked great.
Um, I loved the way they, like, set up this trailer and how they kind of introduced the stuff.
And, and it just seems.
like a lot of the games nowadays, they're really taking a little bit more time and not just
spamming stuff at us and not spamming graphics or whatever else. They're, they're setting
things up. They're setting up the environment, the world. And I feel like they're starting to
understand that, you know, we're not as stupid as we look. Believe it or not. I know, I know most of
the times. Speak for yourself. I don't know, Ryan. There's a game on this list that's releasing
it's like what 14th entry that people are just going to buy because it's this is true this is true
but uh i think i think what they're doing is good i think that it looks cool it is it is exciting
it's unique it's something different but it's also a little bit comfortable because it does like
you said it has that look and that feeling so i think that's a good way to approach some things is
is to create something that people are comfortable with but is is different and new
and have kind of meld between the two
and find that comfort zone
to create things that are new
but make people feel happy about it
and comfortable.
I'm trying to remember
what the last big game set in hell was
because I feel like we don't use hell
as a backdrop for games.
Well, doom.
I would say doom.
I was thinking Saints Row,
Gat out of hell.
There was also,
there was one more
and I cannot remember it right now.
I'll remember it later
and I'll kick myself for it.
Yeah.
Oh, Dante's Inferno.
There you go.
Yeah.
I think this game looks awesome, man.
I loved what I saw in the gameplay.
The animations look super smooth.
I love how you're using cards and your wand to, like, levitate people and fling them away.
At one point, the guy casts a spell and wraps chains around everybody.
Like, this is one of those trailers you kind of have to see to understand what we're talking about.
Cheesy magician stuff, but really cool.
Yeah, but it's like, and it's all against like these devils that are trying to make, you're making a
deal with them and I think you're trying to get out of the deal or something. But there is
something here that really got our attention. So check out the trailer for this one. Again,
it's called Magicians, the Devil's Deal. It's releasing in 2027. But man, it got my attention
for a game that I didn't know existed. And it is well worth keeping an eye on. That's for sure.
And there's one other game. You guys forgot that made you feel like, or you were in hell when you played
it. Oh. Yeah, Expedition 33. No, no, no. Yeah.
my gosh.
Get them internet.
Get them internet.
Get them.
Bring it on, baby.
Bring it on.
Only game, Josh felt that way about was forespoken.
All right.
That's,
don't forget Elite Dangerous.
Oh, you did hate Elite Dangerous.
Josh was a lot of games.
And then this is just like,
there's a lot.
Some nights,
Overwatch.
Some nights overwatch.
Some nights overwatch.
I'm in hell right.
Yeah.
I'm in hell trying to carry these news.
Oh, man.
All right. We got a new look at a Senoa game. I am a fan of the Senoa games. I get that they are not heavy on the gameplay, but there's something about the world and the presentation of Senoa that I just really appreciate. I got excited for this. It's literally just Senoa. So it's not Senoa's saga or Sena Sacrifice or Senoa's something. It's just Senoa.
That feels backwards. Right.
Yeah. They kind of really showed off combat. So it makes me wonder if they're making the combat a little bit more in depth.
depth and involved, which was what I was going to say.
It looked like I was going to ask you guys,
did you feel like it looked like we're going to have a lot more combat in this,
which we had in the other games,
other versions,
but it was actually decent.
The combat wasn't bad.
They're just not a lot of it.
It was routine and kind of repetitive.
It was repetitive,
but like it was that same kind of sequence fighting,
but like it's not bad.
So if they kind of changed it up a little bit and made it maybe a little more difficult
and had some kind of switches with it
and maybe the ability to use some sort of,
I don't know, a power or something, but like,
yeah, I'm wondering if it's going to be a little more
combat heavy than the other ones were.
That'd be my guess.
I will say it must be very early combat
because the attraction between enemies
when you swap targets is very strong.
Like, she started on one side of the battlefield,
turned a little to the left,
and then went,
Flaw!
Yeah.
I don't know what it is, man.
These games, like, they're not like 10 out of 10 games.
They're, you know, 8 out of 10 maybe for me.
If you can get into the lore and the story.
But there's something about that world that really draws me in.
I'll play this one.
Like, I'll play every center of game that comes out.
They've got the same kind of appeal as like control or Alan Wake.
It's just weird enough and just strange enough that you're interested.
So I don't expect like miracles for this, but I will play it.
100% I know I'll play it.
They, you know what it is?
They're in every single set of a game, so every single, there's two.
But in each one, there's some sort of super memorable moment that I can never get out of my head.
And I think that's what I appreciate about them.
And it's like, I'm just curious what the next one's going to be.
So, all right.
Huge news, everybody.
Massive.
Massive.
Guys, we saw a logo that said P6.
Yep, we did.
And it was green.
It was green this time.
And the world lost its mind, Ace.
Tell everybody why the world lost its mind, Ace.
After 10 long years.
In green letters.
After 10 long years awaiting.
Finally, persona fans don't have to look at persona five anymore as persona six has finally been announced.
Green logo, they're teasing a almost horror aspect to this one with the return to the supernatural roots of the original personas, which I'm all in for.
I love this kind of change in tone from our sort of jazzy hype heist style of, you know, all about rebellion into what could be a really dark, more somber tone for the persona series.
I'm all in for that.
And I know the music is going to kick some butt.
Tell everybody how awesome the gameplay was that we saw.
Oh, boo-hoo.
It's a turn-based game.
Tell him, Ryan.
Tell him, Ryan.
Okay.
So, so, Ace, can I ask you a question?
Uh-huh.
Aren't these all just like kids games?
Definitely not.
They're all just kids, though.
You're like playing kids, right?
You play as teenagers.
You're playing high schoolers.
Yeah, teenagers.
Those are kids.
They're not even adults.
Usually it's senior year high schoolers at least.
Yeah, but they're saving the world and stuff.
Nobody wants to be the middle-aged man running around the town saving the world.
All right.
Cretos would like to speak to you.
Ryan wants to speak, but he's muted.
Ryan wants to speak, but he's muted.
Once again, how many?
episodes in a row.
This, all right, we're going to have a mute counter.
I'm going to have to add a mute counter.
No, don't do it.
It was in the song.
It was like literally in the song too.
I don't even know.
I must have hit a button on accident, but no, what I'm saying, the reason I brought
that up is because, uh, I just, I don't, I don't understand the persona love.
I don't get it.
I know people are going to, I know people love it.
What do it?
No.
Why do I want to know?
This is like watching like high school musical.
Like it's a teenage.
It's like a teen thing.
You act like more superheroes aren't teenagers.
They're superheroes.
These are dumb kids in high school.
These kids are fighting demons and stuff.
What do you mean?
Yeah, Ryan.
The one I'm about to talk about Persona 4 revival, which is one of the most beloved persona
games of all time.
People will still be like, well, you know, Prisota 5 is great.
But persona 4 is way better.
He's getting a freaking ground up remake with brand new voice actors, which I'm iffy on that.
But it looks beautiful as heck.
And it's all about solving mysteries and murders while going through the Midnight channel,
which is like freaking dimension inside the TV.
It's cool as hell.
I just think of like every time I see A's skins of persona, I just think of, I think of, I think of.
No, I think of Sailor Moon.
You're going to be sarcasticly.
I think of Sailor Moon and I think of like tuxedo mask because Ace is always like, he's always got some like, you make a fun of my Wu Yong skin.
Yeah, you're a little Wu Yong skin.
Yeah.
Ace paid a lot of money for that skin.
He did.
I'm sure he did.
paid $80 to that bundle.
I gave up two Little Caesar's pizzas and some breadsticks for that skin.
Sacrifices must be made.
All right.
Here's the problem I have.
The world lost its mind over the letter P and the number six.
And the color green.
But it's green.
That's all we got.
It's green, Josh.
And dude, there's not a person in the world that didn't think persona 6 was being made.
Okay?
So like, the fact that we saw P6 and green and everybody's like, oh my God.
Gosh, persona.
Do we know it was getting made, people?
It's like, this isn't news.
It's awesome, though.
We saw so much gameplay, and we got to understand.
You would have hated the gameplay anyway.
It's tar-based.
That's true.
That's true.
Ryan would have hated the game-
I would have liked to have seen gameplay.
I'll be honest.
I have zero excitement for persona-6 because they didn't show us a dang thing.
You have zero aside for persona-6.
You didn't like persona-5 anyway.
Persona-5 was okay.
I liked it.
It just didn't, it wasn't the best RPG to me.
So there's that
All right, we got to move on.
Ace, you already talked about persona
4 revival.
I know there's a gillian people
that are going to be excited about that.
That's honestly going to be a really great
remake of the original persona 4.
Yeah.
All right, we've got to get through these last ones.
There's not a ton of news on these
because we've already covered most of these already.
Castlevania Belmont's curse.
Peak.
I've said it before.
I'm going to say it again.
I think this game looks freaking fantastic, dude.
Now we're talking.
This is my kind of Mexican.
Word talk.
Beautiful Metroidvania.
We got another look at it.
It looked phenomenal once again.
I don't know that I've ever been this excited for a Metroidvania, to be honest with you, other
than Silk Song, which.
Maybe Silk Song.
Yeah.
But we also, it's going to be, I know.
Well, I mean, we each are slandering something this episode.
So I felt like I had to take my turn.
Rightfully so, though.
Yeah.
$30 price tag.
So that's great.
And I've released date of October.
15th for Castlevania Belmont's Curse.
Again, it just
looks incredible. Valor Mortis, which we have talked about a
couple times. Looks so good. We got
confirmed release date on this
one. No. Freaking September.
That's September 24.
A
first person's soul's
like is probably the best way to describe this
game. It's said in like it's a
I think you play as Napoleon
in this or Napoleon has something to do
with it. It's like in that world.
I don't know if you play it.
Yeah, you're like a character.
At the end of the trailer, they said so and so as Napoleon.
So he's obviously in the game.
I think Valor Mortis looks great.
Initially, I thought this game was going to just be kind of a cheesy indie game.
And now it seems like it's been just developed into this like really good looking first person.
There's grappling hooks and traversal and combat and zombie weird blood infections and stuff like that.
Valormoris is shaping up to be good looking.
It looks real legit.
This is an example of a game where I wasn't sold on the first trailer, but I like the idea.
And then every trailer that I have seen since has just sold me more and more and more on Valor Mortis.
It's almost like when you show gameplay and what the game's going to be.
Like people will stop like it.
And it can work.
What a weird thing.
Like, man, oh.
No matter how much they show from Prisota 6, you're never going to like it.
It's because it's turn base.
That's fair.
We did get a look at
For our Call of Duty bros out there
They did showcase the
Call of Duty 4 or modern
It's Modern Warfare for the new DMZ mode
Which I had fun in DMZ
I'm not gonna lie
You know war zone and DMZ
I thought were a good time
They showcase the new DMZ
We kind of joked around about
You know the number of bullets
That the guys were dumping into enemies
Where it's like that guy needed 50 bullets
You know that kind of thing
But for Call of Duty people
It's at least something to be excited about
I thought it looked pretty good.
Halo campaign evolved.
Looks great.
We will absolutely be playing this one together, boys.
We did get a confirmed release date of July 28th on that one.
And the big thing that they kind of showcased with this was that there's going to be three brand new missions built into this.
So while this is a remake of the original Halo, we're getting three new missions to kind of just throw something new in there.
But I can't wait to get my hands on this and just play through.
because, man, it's going to be a good time.
Still coming to PlayStation, too, by the way.
It's still coming to PlayStation, which is surprising.
That's probably because they work something out.
I wish they would just pull it away at this point and be like,
you're such a hater, dude.
No, because PlayStation started to Ryan.
That's why.
It was so sour.
Why? Everything was moving towards the console wars being over and
exclusivity being done.
And then the Fire Nation attacks.
Frickin' PlayStation's the one that was like,
we're going to fire the first shot and now the war is back.
And it's like you didn't have to do that, man.
All right.
And then, Spiro are a Relo reborn.
I know you're Nintendo Bro with your Switch 2.
Yeah, whatever.
Spyro, Realm Reborn for people that love Spiro and love that nostalgia to throwback.
I think it looks good.
I was never a huge fan of Spiro to be on.
Spiro's sweet.
Did you play the Reignited Trilogy?
Nope.
Oh, okay.
Well, then never mind.
I don't like collectathons.
That's the problem.
Like Banjo Cazooey was awesome, but you got new things in
banjo and the worlds and levels and stuff like that.
I just, yeah, Spiro I just never really got into.
But no shade to Spiro.
That's just me.
So, all right.
I have one last question for you guys.
Okay.
Ace, you think about your quiz that I told you because I need to know which
AAA title you're most excited about.
In the meantime, who had the better showcase?
Was it PlayStation, the state of play, where we had God of War,
Lafay, Wolverine, and,
ill, even though
ill's not going to be console exclusive
or was it the Xbox game
showcase where we had E-Day,
fable, clockwork revolution,
uh, magicians,
persona six.
What do you guys think?
Who had the better showcase?
I think I'd have to give it to Xbox just for having
quantity and quality here.
And of course they brought back
exclusives for their console to make it more
attractive to people, which I don't blame them
when you've got PlayStation kicking you in the teeth like that all the time.
Yeah.
So, I'm giving it to Xbox.
What do you think?
I think the same.
As much as I love, and I'm a Sony guy,
um, Xbox hit it out of the park.
I think you got, you got this E-Day, which is the origin of all this stuff,
a bunch more fable news, um, clockwork looks great.
All the other stuff they, they came out with.
Like, there was a lot of, of stuff they had shown within these trailers.
So it's, it's a lot to get excited about.
And I think they did a good job with that.
So, yeah, I think Xbox was like, yeah, the next level.
I loved what we saw with the, this is no slander to the state of play.
But if you're saying which one do you think did better, I think the Xbox showcase was, was better.
I think like you said, they showed more games.
They showed more in depth with these games.
Gameplay and all that.
Yeah, exactly.
So, all right, Ace, what's your one AAA game that you're most excited for?
It's Crossfire.
My one AAA game is.
Crossfire.
I'm actually very, very excited for Crossfire.
I'm not going to pick persona six because it could be 10 years before
Percent of Six comes up.
Yeah, that's fair.
Especially since all we have is a logo so far.
I have no idea how far ahead and developed.
No, it panned through tombstones.
Come on.
There were eyes and there was hands, clawing.
You know what?
I don't have to defend it.
People will defend it for me.
You should.
One final question.
Which one are you most excited for out of Gears of War, Eday, Fable,
And Clockwork Revolution.
Oh, it's Clockwork Revolution.
It's absolutely Clockwork Revolution.
Having a new IP with a new gameplay style like this,
with the characters we met and how these, like,
all these mechanics work together.
Very interesting.
As great as you guys have made Fable Sound,
Clockwork Revolution just sounds too good.
Okay.
Ryan?
Sounds like somebody who's never played Fable.
Yeah, that's good.
I think it's Fable for me.
It's Fable 100% dude.
I don't know.
I think it's terrible for me as well.
No.
It's a gosh,
you never like,
it's,
he'll see,
he'll see,
he'll see.
You can't explain it.
You can't explain it.
You got to experience it.
I've seen it and I've heard it.
I need to feel it.
You got to feel it.
Okay.
Ryan,
one last question.
What?
You said that like eight times,
by the way.
I know,
I know,
I know,
but I love these little fable.
All right,
you have fable and you have
Galactic Racer in front of you.
And you can load up either one right off the bat.
Which one are you picking?
Uh,
do I have,
Do I have people to play with with Galactic Racer?
Yes, you can, yes.
Then Galactic Racer.
You don't have to play solo.
Hipotrox.
Yeah, Galactic Racer.
Yeah, Glockettler.
If I think Fable gives it a run for my money, but I think I still would have
Yeah.
It's a hard choice.
It's closer than I probably would have expected with my hype.
We're going to sound like idiots.
Galactic Racer is going to come out.
It's going to be fun, but it's not going to be like everything we hope for.
No, it's going to be so stupid.
I'm going to feel like a little kid again with an N-60.
for deep beating subalba like it's going to be it's going to be so good and there's going to be a
thousand miles an hour finding a little hidden path through the cave that gives you the little
bit of like a lot of a racer is 60 bucks and I'm going to send josh into the wall and just blow up
his pot and he's going to be so mad it's going to be awesome ace it's a good thing that we uh we have
a gaming podcast yeah thank god i would not pay $60 all right listen there you go there's the Xbox
showcase everybody we want to know
the games you are most excited for. I mean, this is one of the reasons we challenged each other with these. Let us know which game from the Xbox showcase you are most excited for. We want to know the one that you would play above all others. So leave us a comment on the episode. Let us know what you think. We also want to know who you thought had the best showcase. Was it the Sony state of play? Was it the Xbox game showcase? Or was it the summer games fest? Because at this point, you've gotten the breakdown on all of them. We may or may not be back with the Nintendo direct.
