Starting point is 00:00:00 Well hello there travelers, welcome back to Walk About The World. Welcome to Disney's Animal Kingdom. I'm going to be taking in a post-Hurricane Milton Animal Kingdom. It's going to be, my guess, it's going to be very crowded because it looks as though they have made sure that as far as reservations go, that all of the guests that were staying on property in the hotels get first go at reservations.
Starting point is 00:00:41 There's actually a queue for reservations for the regular AP crowd. So I'm expecting it to be pretty crowded, but we're here pretty early. Just going to walk around, take in some sounds. Let's start and head over, walk around Pandora, make our way around to Africa, and ultimately end up at my favorite part of the park over in Asia, Nandapur, Circusong. Come on, let's go We are creating Winged Encounters. We encourage you to gather around our alien specialists at the base of the tree of life for a unique journey of discovery. One that you can't see anywhere else except in the wild.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Welcome to Winged Encounters. Hello everyone here in Discovery Island. Come on over and join us for Winged Encounters. Sammy Jo and Cletus are the two little guys that are out there with Natalie kicking off the show and they're not the only ones. So come on in with your phones and cameras ready to go.
Starting point is 00:02:18 There are some perches in the crowd that will probably land on to get some of your favorite treats. They're not barriers for you guests at all. You can get right in the middle middle of them the best place to be is right up front here if you want these cute birds flying right over the top of your head now sammy new and clee jizz are very cute you know what kind of birds are these i heard something good job they are macaws they look kind of similar to blue and golden and foggy, but these two are actively engaged in species fights that do throw little things at us.
Starting point is 00:02:50 They can eat from our little beater patch or battery. So, wait a little bit. Good. Well, it's a really cool time for you to have a day off in space. So, I'm really happy to be back in action. My name is Meg. I'm here with Keegan and Keegan. And out in the crowd crowd Angel and Maddie are
Starting point is 00:03:07 the guys who have their favorite treats. That's how we hang out with the birds. We build these relationships, build on their favorite snacks and that's how we build trust with them too. So we do things we like, like come out here to see all of you, we give them something they like. It's kind of like those of us who go to work, we get a paycheck, we really like that paycheck so we're going to come back to work. And with you paycheck, we really like that paycheck, so we're going to come back to work.
Starting point is 00:03:25 And with these guys, we're going to be like pretty much anything that comes in a nutshell. These are going to be all of our favorite treats. Positive reinforcement is a great thing to use in your own life, too. If you have people you want to train, pets at home you want to train, it's a very, very good tool to have in your back pocket. But hanging out with these birds here at Disney's Animal Kingdom is the best way to hang out with parrots. A lot of people look at these birds and think, wow, I would like to have them in my house as a pet. They're so cute, they're so smart. They are those things, but as a roommate they are very noisy, very challenging, super destructive.
Starting point is 00:03:59 They're professional poopers and they live a very, very long time. So, trust us when we say, come on over to the Winking Catters, we'll get you your parent fix anytime you need one. That way you can keep your homes nice and quiet and clean. And for those of you just walking by or way back there, we encourage you to come on in and fill all this empty space in for what's coming up next. Freedus and Sandy Jo are two blue-ththroated macaws that we get to work with, and we work with lots of different species. So we love to highlight these two because they are a critically endangered species. They're only found down in Bolivia and South America, and there's fewer than 400 of them in the wild. So you're so lucky to see two right up front. Deforestation leads to habitat loss for a lot of parrots on our planet and the illegal pet trade is something that affects wild populations too.
Starting point is 00:04:50 They're not great pets. But the great news is people have started to notice that ecosystems, animals out there need our help and we are partnering with the World Parrot Trust. They are a leader in conservation for the cause just like this wild a lot of places. We have started a breeding program for Pucca and Macaws. With the goal of those babies being released into the forest of Bolivia, so we can save the species in the sky filled with macaws that looks a little bit like this. How incredible is this? Thank you so much, everybody. Come on in to get a closer look at your phone and camera. Ready to go. This is not a picture.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Take a video. We're going to take a photo of you. I'm going to take a photo of you. Put your hands on your shoulders. I'm going to take a photo of you. I'm going to take a photo of you. I'm going to take a photo of you. I'm going to take a photo of you.

Starting point is 00:36:37 Disney has it together. It's like, you know, besides a few things here and there, I mean, everything looks like it was untouched. Their cleanup crew must be just on top of things, which you would expect. But it's like you'd never know that it was a day or two after a major storm. Gotta hand it to all these cast members. Keepers that I talked to all said the animals did great. You know, nothing to worry about there.
