You can.
But hello, traveler.
And happy holidays.
Welcome back to Walk About the World, a weekly audio holiday stroll.
When it's the holidays. In the parks of Walt Disney World here in Orlando, Florida today and finally, finally we are back in Disney's Magic Kingdom for
some holiday vibes. I have to tell you it's been hard to get in here.
First world problems, but not a lot of annual pass reservations.
So what we're going to do, right now we're in Town Square.
I should really be quiet.
And I will.
Isn't this great, though?
So what we're going to do is we're going to wander slowly up and down Main Street,
because that's the goal today.
Magic Kingdom Main Street Holiday.
Ah, deep sigh. Standing across from the confectionary, looking at the roses.
And the large tree, the big Christmas tree to the left.
Let's take a leisurely stroll down Main Street, shall we?
I may or may not talk we'll see. Now if you follow my personal account, which you may or may not,
you know I love trains, and I love Christmas trains.
Underneath the large tree, which, by the way, we're standing directly underneath of it,
I better take a picture for proof.
No pics, no proof.
But it has a train underneath of it.
I wish it moved.
It's just a decoration.
But it's still cool.
Also, we have a cavalcade approaching.
They're common these days.
Entrance to the Emporium.
Directly to your left.
Confectionary right across.
Shall we pause for a cavalcade? Can't tell who we have Alice,
Moana,
and Gaston leading the way.
Peter Pan. Peter Pan.
Gaston is truly living his best life. Good! Mary Poppins in the back.
Along with Aladdin
The cavalcades are just a single float so it just passed us by but the music will continue for a moment I want to go down. Should be returning to our holiday music soon and not a very busy main street today. Green garland with poinsettias and fruit adorning many of the buildings.
The lampposts also have lots of fruit,
golden pineapples and oranges and limes,
the classic Florida Christmas stuff.
If you're from up north, you would often get baskets of citrus from Florida in the holidays.
We're going to cross Main Street.
Crossing over near Crystal Arts.
This is Center Street. Thank you, Josh. Somehow I've not forgotten that. Let's take
a walk back in Center Street. It normally has good audio. All of the storefronts here on Center Street adorned with Christmas stuff like old-time department stores in cities would be.
Kind of wish I would have got to see that back in the day.
Not a ton of audio back here. A little bell medley going on from the speakers above Uptown Jewelry.
Main Street is beautiful in the holidays. Large wreaths as you look down either side of the street with big plastic candles in the middle.
Paula!
There we go.
That train horn was a little kid saying cheese for a long time.
Right next to Plaza Ice Cream.
Casey's Corner directly across the way.
Say a prayer to everyone eating over there.
God bless your stomachs.
Let's venture into the Capitol Hub.
Or, no, the Castle Hub, not the Capitol. I really should turn my audio down before I take pictures.
I'm not a pro, people. You know this. But you don't come here for professionalism.
You come here for the casual incompetence and streetmosphere. Looking directly to the right at the hubgrass.
Hubgrass.
Do you hear what I hear?
It's not the song, it's the water feature.
We have to check out the water features.
Ah. Okay. Okay. Alright, with me.
Deep breath in. Ready? Go.
And out.
Good for the soul.
And anxiety, it turns out.
Looking past the fountain directly in front of us to the castle.
Also, the little pink and apricot roses are blooming like crazy in the castle hub right now Another Bell medley. Just heard a fellow traveler say,
Ooh, it's hot.
Ah, dear, dear traveler.
You don't even know, my friend.
It's 80 degrees today.
It's been in the lower 70s, which has been nice, but 80...
Yeah, this is great.
Where are we?
We are on the back, far right side of the castle hub,
near the bridge to Tomorrowland.
Looking at the water around the castle, the moat with the little ducks.
You can see the people mover going.
Oh, here we go. Brush your teeth.
Use natural soap.
Quality toilet paper.
Too much? I don't know. Here we go. To quote Paging Mr. Morrow, this is the way.
No, what's he say? That's the way.
This is the way is the Mandalorian. That works too.
All right, we're going to take a stroll forward around the rest of the castle hub near the front of the castle,
work our way back around and come back down Main Street,
where we will end up.
Let's go.
Tomorrowland, I don't think, has any holiday tunes.
I can hear the old school stuff right now.
Fine by me, by the good. Where is it? This way?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I bet they cut them
with a smaller one.
Just knock the gem out of you.
Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
Oh!
Oh! Oh! Now we're by the bridge to Tomorrowland slash Fantasyland entrance by the, by Sunny Eclipse.
Man, I would love to pop in there today, but I don't have time.
Haven't seen my boy Sunny in a while.
Castle in the foreground, looming don't have time. Haven't seen my boy Sonny in a while. Castle in the foreground, looming
overhead. Gorgeous.
Look at that.
A person-free photo.
I'm going to take some photos of the apricot roses because I can't help myself.
Apricot or apricot?
I don't think there's an ape in it.
Okay, let's walk directly in front of the castle. Fifty statues of Goof and Pluto over here.
Going to walk by the Walt statue and see if we can photobomb some folks. partner statue looking gorgeous with a full bed of poinsettias underneath of it
poinsettias poinsettias not sure yeah i'm pretty sure we just got in a photo pass
mission accomplished Mission accomplished. Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?
I'm not. Because I live in Florida. Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?
I'm not.
Because I live in Florida to escape it.
But I still like hearing about it.
And possibly seeing it in people's pictures.
I'm going to poke into Liberty Square real quick because I am curious whether or not they have some holiday music back here.
Let's find out, and then we'll head back.
All right, Liberty Square Bridge.
Sleepy Hollow directly across the bridge to the right.
Can you smell the funnel cakes?
Because if you were walking with me, and you are, you would.
Just haven't quite worked out that whole scent transfer via MP3 yet.
Dude.
Funnel cake's overpowering right now.
So you tell me.
Holiday music or no? We are near the entrance to Ye Olde Christmas Shop
where I can see
cast members busily painting the
ornaments for customers.
I'm sorry.
Sorry.
I obstructed a walkway.
Well, you can tell me.
I should know, but I'm not sure if this is holiday or not.
We're going to take the little path to the right behind Christmas Shop.
Across the green bridge to Adventureland that goes right past what used to be the Veranda Restaurant, which is now Club 33.
Also apparently zero ambience back here. I have found the second Zero Ambience Bridge
if you know where the other one is
Animal Kingdom
by Dinoland Okay.
Take a quick, very, very, very quick
poke into Adventureland
because we're here.
The spring roll cart is
serving up its
artery-hardening goodness.
I've yet to try one, and I know they're supposed to be amazing, but I think I would be in the
first aid tent.
Hello, Club 33.
Always hope to look up to the windows and see somebody looking down at us peasants and wave at them.
Alright, we're rocking back here.
But I don't think we're rocking any holidays.
Classic Adventureland drums.
Unless I'm mistaken.
Let's roll out autobots Just saw a dude in a kilt.
My buddy Rick killed a Jedi Rick.
You would have liked it.
Here we go, holiday time once again.
Passing the 50th statue of Pooh and Piglet. And every mother's child
We're not singing now, are we?
Reindeer really know how to fly
All right, back to the castle hub.
We're going to make our slow journey out.
You can place bets with me on whether or not we're going to encounter a cavalcade before we're out of here.
I'm saying yes. You decide.
You know what?
Let's turn right.
Go over here by the hub.
Come back by the Crystal Palace.
From 1 to
92. 92.
You sing the rest.
Take it. take it wave to your right once again
to Casey's
and the ducks
with the highest cholesterol
in the northern hemisphere.
Silver bells, love it. children screaming laughing
here you go taking some busy main street sidewalk street-masphere. In about three weeks. Kind of hoped we would get into some Dapper Dan's action.
Totally photobombed those folks.
It's a family of like 12. I was right in the middle of the street. Oh my god.
That's a combination.
Oh my god.
Photo pass is popping today.
Doing a lot of sighing today.
I actually thought I wouldn't be able to get back in here before the holidays were done.
Glad I did.
The happiest place on earth. We take the pass. We go back.
I was lighter. I'm not sure there's any more appropriate song to end on than Jingle Bells.
So, yeah, I know.
Sigh, sigh, sigh.
It's a sigh of joy.
Huh.
I just noticed a thing.
They have a cast member barking orders over here, and he's pointing to backstage.
They have the backstage opening right past the confectionery, the rear of the confectionery open for Tomorrowland.
I don't know why, because it's totally not crowded.
That's not my...
That's above my pay grade to figure that stuff out.
But I will say thank you for tagging along today.
It's been super lovely to be back in the Magic Kingdom
for a stroll down Main Street with you.
Main Street at holiday time.
Hard to beat.
And glad to have you along.
And I will say that in general.
Wait a minute.
Oh, I thought we were brushing our teeth again.
Just want to say thanks in general
for hanging along, tagging along this year.
We started this little adventure
in March, and you guys have hung around and listened and interacted, and it's been a lot
of fun, and will continue to be. I am not quite sure, frankly, how much more content will be
coming your way before the holidays. We may have a surprise or two, but regardless,
if you don't hear my voice or the voice of my family or Joshua, please let me wish you and
your family the absolute best of holidays. Hope you guys have a great time with family and friends and get the chance to relax and get a bunch of goodies.
