The Kampung Kampung Hello travelers and good evening from Harambe.
Where you get to hear some of the traditional Harambe soundtrack, as well as some holiday tunes with a Harambe flair mix in.
A very empty Harambe this evening in a very full park.
Strange dichotomy.
I thought you guys might enjoy a walk out of the park with me this evening.
And I thought we would start in Harambe.
We often trek here from elsewhere,
but I thought we would start in Harambe where they have some amazing decorations up.
They have wreaths on many of the shop windows
that are very rustic, made out of vine, and with some
excellent drapings on some of the buildings in a very holiday tone. It's understated holiday,
but it's still holiday here in Harambe. So let's walk out from here, and I happen to know
that there are some great holiday ambience
that we can pick up on the way out
Discovery Island is a-boomin' this evening we're gonna work our way back
there currently standing next to Tamu Tamu refreshments with the Tusker House on our right. Tusker House has really
excellent old-fashioned looking holiday lights draped all around the corners of
the building. Okay. We are going to cross the bridge from Harambee into the very outskirts of Discovery Island
now.
Far off the blue and purple peaks of the Forbidden Mountain.
Here comes one of the bushes.
Out of the foliage, as it were.
Creature comforts right ahead.
Starbucks. If you didn't know better, and I do know better, you would think the park is empty. The wooden giraffe figure
passing to our right.
And the Tree of Life garden to our left.
And some more holiday tunes magically coming from behind a stand of bamboo
you can hear the tree of Life ceremony in the distance.
Even in the dark, I can see the beautiful red bougainvilleas blooming.
Passing by Pete's Safari now.
Right now we're going to dive into the huge throng in the middle of Discovery Island here in front of the tree.
Passing by Island Mercantile.
Which one is it? We arrived mid-ceremony.
Is it a ceremony?
I don't think so.
Event? Event?
Reindeer, snow projected onto the tree
in front of us here. ¶¶
¶¶ I love you. ¶¶ Musik and the lights are back on
and the crowd disperses
well kinda
there is a pile of people here at the center
of Discovery Island. Previously Safari Village. I like both names. The tree still has projections
going on. Let's just take a little stroll around the periphery of discovery island
and catch some ambience and crowd and holiday vibe all around the island mercantile
are what look like paper lanterns of owls and doves and foxes. Reindeer. Beautifully crafted and painted and lit from the inside.
Gorgeous.
All right, let's go. Let's walk around.
Make our way through a big bunch of people who will wonder what we're doing. I'm going to want to join them.
I want to be part of their family
Riverside Depot directly across from Island Mercantile You've been doing that all day. Just for a picture?
Yes. so
so More Tree of Life magic happening. The the
the
the
the
the
the There's the T. okay let's keep wandering
one other place that i wanted to try to get to, okay tree, is Dinoland USA. I believe they have some holiday
music cranking and so we're gonna go check that out. It's right around the corner, won't take long.
Let's go. I hope it is! let me know
passing the very end of the Discovery Trading Company.
And the little stage, this is where you can sometimes meet some characters from up.
I'm picking up the pace here.
Dinoland USA Bridge directly ahead.
Famously, this is the bridge that has no ambience whatsoever.
But once we cross to the other side it will
or at least I hope it will
see I told you dead silent
the large dinosaur fossil that frames the entrance to Dinoland USA is bejeweled in lights.
See how poetic?
It's seriously covered, just like the Osborne family lights.
Osborne density of lights.
And has a Santa hat on.
Okay, let's head in.
Yeah, there it is.
You know it is. Yeah, I have no idea. You know as much as I do.
Who is responsible for this? Kind of feel like you should be required to have a beer in hand to listen to this. I'm going to keep
moving ahead here. Keep moving on.
The Boneyard to your left.
I think that's S-A-N-N-A. That's a life pro tip.
Always remain seated until your triceratops comes to a complete stop.
Oh, at last.
The universe has shown mercy upon us.
That song has ended.
Directly ahead, Chester and Hester's dinosaur treasures.
You do not need to go to the end of the earth.
You're here now, it says.
Merchandise of extinction.
You guys like this area?
Despite myself, I do. The dino-rama ahead.
Large gaping hole to the right reminds me of Epcot.
Is that weird? Too much? Christmas decor over here is interesting, as is the whole area.
A couple of traditional trees.
A large snow bird?
I thought it was a snowman, but it's got a bird's head and a beak on it, so...
Snow bird?
And some of the decor on the lamppost
makes me smile it looks very much like the lampposts lamppost signs of my hometown Wave high to the Triceratops, whatever the plural of that is.
You can't beat the sound and sight of an old school carnival slash midway ride at night
very old-fashioned Christmas tree right in front of us large aluminum pole and
chains with with garland wrapped around in a circular motion forming a tree
all right let's keep going.
Okay, now for
the experts among you, I need your help.
I kind of feel like I should know this,
but the very, very large green dinosaur that is at the end of the Dino-rama
and leads you out of Dino-land as you go to Asia,
do we know what its name is?
Anybody? Josh?
And even more importantly,
is he or she related to Gertie?
I feel like we need to know this.
Leave us a comment
over at WalkaboutWDW
or a message if you know that answer.
Now, interesting, on the telephone poles here leading out of...
See, this Midway Barker is going to interrupt us.
But on the telephone poles leading out of the land,
on what very much looks like a highway,
they have Christmas lights in air quotes,
but they're all in the shapes of dinosaurs.
Pterodactyl, T-Rex right above me.
Oh, and here's a red and green Velociraptor.
Very cool.
Now, I said we were going to walk out of the park,
and so far we've kind of done the opposite.
We almost did, and we took a side trip over here to Dinoland USA.
Let's go back.
Let's go back to Discovery Island.
I think it is a law, at least in some states, that you have to sing to this when it comes on.
Told ya. You are singing right now.
I know you are. I'm about to go to bed. I'm about to go to bed. I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
Are you kidding me?
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed.
I'm about to go to bed. I'm about it's a law. All right, now enjoy the silence of a trudge across the bridge with no ambience and a cart behind us.
Bye.
Passing under the sign for Discovery Island Flame Tree BBQ
still welcoming guests
we're about half an hour from park close
I'm sorry little one
you know it wouldn't be a show
without some poor exhausted little one And this unfortunate CM has to weave that massive cart through this throng of people at Discovery Island.
Godspeed, young man.
All right, back in front of the tree, Discovery Island.
Okay, so I'll tell you what we're going to do.
There is one more area that we have to capture,
and it is at the very entrance of the park.
And so, to save you the walk from here on across the bridge and down through the oasis,
I'm going to just rejoin you.
Just listening to this bit of coolness. so many people walking and looking backwards at the same time
logistically not good
you know what heck we're already halfway up the bridge.
Just stick with me. Did you know there was a backside of water here?
As soon as you get to the top of the hill, you go into this little rock grotto, as you
can tell by the echo.
There's a waterfall on the other side.
Take that, Magic Kingdom.
All right, we are now heading down through the oasis.
Here is the front side of that waterfall, where we have done an outro before.
Given the amount of people streaming out of here, it is very odd that there is literally no one around us right now.
I think because humans are pack animals and they were all going to the right, we went to the left.
Okay, nearing the bottom of the oasis.
Garden Gate Gifts to your left.
Where you can rent your strollers and get camera.
I was going to say film. Is that still a thing?
It's a camera center, so whatever you do, whatever you need for your cameras,
whatever that is... Probably not film, but what do I know?
Let's walk around the front of the oasis here.
They have the beautiful pools of water.
Gorgeous, enormous ferns.
This is also where they have a large number of waterfowl during the day, but none out right now.
Oh, an announcement. So now we know tomorrow. So tomorrow.
Oh, an announcement. Everyone.
Masks.
Cover your mouth.
And your nose.
Wash your hands often.
Cover your mouth and nose.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Brush your teeth. Take a bath at least once a week Eat at least two hot meals
Okay, we're passing under the exit now
The large entry and exit
Pergola with the beautiful decorations
Draped on it.
I'm not sure Burl Ives would improve this, frankly. Directly ahead is the Animal Kingdom tree,
which is one of my absolute favorites.
The decor on this tree, which is difficult to see from afar at night.
Very, very much Animal Kingdom themed.
Lots of animals.
The lighting on this tree is yellow and red with occasional bits of green.
Our destination is right ahead, our final destination of the night.
Large crowd of people doing the photo pass in front of the tree.
Off to the side here in the stand of palm trees are some high top tables right next to the Joffreys kiosk
we're gonna park ourselves right here
watch as the crowd exits and the tree is directly ahead framed between two palm trees that are lit from the bottom and it is gorgeous. Lovely.
If you guys don't mind some behind the scenes, which I know you don't,
pardon some microphone noise here for just a second because
I'm going to take off the handle that we normally use
and attach the tripod.
That wasn't too bad, was it?
I'm going to set you down.
We're going to listen to some music together
for the final few minutes.
Holidays are about the moments. I know, I'm too preachy sometimes, but
the holiday season comes and goes very quickly. We're all busy. We're all working. Loads of
activities. But for me, the holidays are found in the little moments. Just the five, ten minute
little places where we rest and
soak it in. And this is one of them.
For me and I hope for you. Terima kasih telah menonton! Kampung Kampung Kampung Kampung Terima kasih telah menonton! All right, once again, forgive me the microphone noise.
Thanks for joining us this evening for a walk out and around Animal Kingdom Park.
I'm just enjoying, sorry.
I'm supposed to be doing an outro.
I'm just enjoying myself.
