Walt Disney World Fourth of July, a day that doesn't even pretend to be a salute to all nations.
It is, it's pretty much America all the time.
A day of fun, freedom, whatever that means to you, hot dogs, Tums,
and then ending the day with illegal fireworks that annoy the heck out of your neighbors.
But today we are at the corner next to Tony's Town Square and across from the Chapeau, which is closed, by the way.
And next to the confectionery, which is closed, by the way.
And the train station, which is closed, by the way.
But out front of the train station are the princesses.
The princesses are lined up and doing their morning greeting.
American flag waving proudly above.
And we thought, what a better place to celebrate the 4th of July,
the most American of holidays, than Main Street, USA.
And so we're not going to camp here for too long, but we wanted to start here.
And what will we do today? I have no idea.
Plans are for people who are successful in the A-team,
and we're neither one of
those so we're just going to see see what we can get into see what we can see with our ears
thanks for tagging along and we'll catch up with you here in just a few
a sign that i've never noticed and because that's what we do
on the big double doors that leads backstage.
Around the corner from Tony's.
It says river excursions.
Explore the beautiful Missouri River.
On the P.S. Marceline.
Marceline, Missouri.
You know.
You know what that is.
Passengers may rest assured.
Of a pleasurable voyage.
On a steam powered stern wheeler.
Really cool looking sign, too.
We have stopped by the corner of the confectionary because we have
a cavalcade headed our way.
Let's listen in. They come so frequently now. I thought we would make it down Main Street before we saw one.
It is really good also to see a very crowded Main Street.
And friends, it is crowded.
Like it is standing room only along the side of Main Street.
Cast members telling people to get the heck out of the way.
Ah, just like the old days. Here they come. Who's on this thing?
We have Goofy and Max.
And Clarabelle and the three caviaros.
Yeah, this is the one we saw the other time, I believe.
It's the two caviaros. They've now passed us and they're headed around the corner towards the fire station.
The cavalcades are short, but I love them. But the added benefit that they don't completely tie up Main Street USA for a long time which
is really cool.
Okay we're going to trudge on, we're not going to trudge. We're going to walk slowly and comfortably.
In the midst of a huge crowd, which I absolutely love.
Let's go.
With the flapping of the Disney ducks in the background,
and I know we're not the news podcast here,
but I had to stop because we're right next to it.
Casey's is back open.
I remember for many, many months,
we've been thinking and wondering when and why.
When's it going to open?
Why isn't it already?
And she's back open, guys.
It's mobile order now,
but the ducks are so happy.
The french fries are flowing.
Little duck's cholesterol is now rising to happy levels again.
It's a good time. It's a good time.
Welcome back, Casey's. A CIDADE NO BRASIL Not hard to guess what that was.
Main Street Band marching through.
We are currently across from the Hall of Presidents
because, of course, why wouldn't we be?
They just marched through the center of town here.
The smell of the chicken and waffles from Sleepy Hollow
is coming right across.
American tunes.
Actually, I think that was like Mary Poppins, right?
Wasn't American at all, but whatever.
Still thought we would take a turn through Liberty Square because it would be weird not to on the 4th of July.
We have no plan, but the theme seems to fit.
And this totally won't be released on the 4th of July because, and this is going to be a shocker to you,
that I'm recording it on the 4th of July, which means it probably won't be released on the 4th of July because, you know, we have to edit these things and it takes a while and all that good stuff.
You can pretend like it's the 4th of July when you hear it, though.
Okay, what's next? I have no idea.
Setting across from the Christmas shop,
our second cavalcade of the day, our third Streetmosphere experience of the day.
Tinkerbell coming through. I'm a high-fiver though. I'm a good high-fiver. I am the king!
I am the king!
I am the king!
I am the king!
I am the king! So these are single float cavalcades.
I'm sure you've seen them in vlogs and whatnot.
But I think they had occasional really cool life and street-mysphere in a way that a parade didn't.
Tinkerbell now rounded the corner. and just as quickly as it appeared it goes goes. We are setting across from, I mentioned the Christmas shop,
but also right across from the Liberty Tree,
which is an amazing old live oak here at the center of Liberty Square.
You may wander over and read some of the signage here in a minute
because, you know, I like to do that sort of thing.
Our family was talking, though, before we move on,
our family was talking recently about the magic kingdom in particular and about how it's it's easy as an
adult or a grizzled 17 year old teenager to sometimes forget the impact of this park in
particular on kids and how this park is aimed at kids and yes there's no velocicoaster here and i
know it's a different company and all that,
but the point is, if you watch Little Kids here,
you will absolutely see that this park
still makes a huge impact on them.
Just to see those kids waving a Tinkerbell,
like, that's not an actor.
That's the real Tinkerbell.
The kids are loving it.
While we were near Casey's earlier,
I happened to notice a family sitting,
eating their corn dog nuggets and french fries at like 10 a.m. No doubt they will visit the infirmary later.
But they were eating their stuff there, and they had a little girl with them.
She had a princess dress on.
And the cavalcade came by, and the little girl was marching in her seat and waving her arms and jumping up and down and generally having an amazing time. And one of the Casey's employees came over in his full baseball dress and did a complete
deep bow in front of her and said, Your Majesty, good morning.
And the little kid just blew her mind. And of course, the of course the parents have big smiles and that's the type
of thing that this park offers. And we shouldn't forget it. That's kind of one of the cool things
that you can experience here. Even if you are not a kid or if you're not with kids, you can still
come and just watch the kiddos because it's a fun time. All right. We are going to see what else we
can see. Not going to tell you the plans, mostly because we don't have any, but we have a couple of ideas to do.
We'll see if we get to them. Catch up in a second.
Not sure if you can hear it puffing, but the riverboat is chugging away from us.
We are next to the Liberty Bell and the flags of 13 colonies
right in the center of Liberty Square and across from Riverboat Landing
and right near to the Liberty Square Market across from the Hall of Presidents.
It is not crowded today. What do you think, Janie?
Crowd level.
It's not bad at all.
It's almost way more chill than a regular Disney day recently.
It's been really crowded, especially in June, but this is not bad.
If you are a Disney visitor of old, I tell you what it seems like.
It seems like September.
It does. September, October. It seems like it seems like september september october it seems like
the old school like late fall period the streets are they're not full at all now main street was
pretty packed but also we we had just followed a cavalcade so everybody's pouring into the street
but here like even looking down towards haunted mansion it is it is not stacked out and for
july i would assume it would be a lot more
packed than this so kind of interesting i would imagine that later tonight it's going to get
more packed but also there are no special fireworks tonight there are fireworks so if you haven't been
following which i'm sure you have but the fireworks are back but it's happily ever after we even
confirmed that it's not special for the j July fireworks, just happily ever after. And I say just, it's going to be amazing,
but that may keep the insane crowds of the olden days away.
But we're going to go and see if we can poke into some rides,
check and see what the times are like,
and may duck into a couple of things here and take you along.
So we find ourselves right now across from Memento Mori,
which, if I know my Latin well, which I totally don't,
I think that means remember death.
But across from Memento Mori Shop and right next to Columbia Harbor House,
which is not open, boo, I can't wait until it comes back.
I think that's probably a staffing thing.
But do I know that for sure?
Heck no.
We just got a return time for the Haunted Mansion.
And for those of you that come to the park that have accessibility issues or come to the park with someone who does,
what they often do is route you to a cast member.
Instead of standing in the queue, they will give you a return time. And the posted time for, this is park nerdery just because I enjoy it.
The posted time right now is 35 minutes for Haunted Mansion.
If you have the Touring Plans Lines app, which if you don't, you probably should,
it shows the actual time is 16 minutes.
And when we talk to the cast member, she says,
we will give you a return time based on the current wait time of 16 minutes. And when we talked to the cast member, she says, we will give you
a return time based on the current wait time of the queue, which should be like 35 minutes. But
instead they gave us a return time around 20 minutes, which I find interesting because that's
the real wait time is around 20 minutes. So anyway, we're going to look around, do some stuff,
probably duck in the Memento Mor Mori Shop and then come back and ride
Haunted Mansion together.
What does Haunted Mansion have to do with the 4th of July?
Absolutely nothing.
But it is in Liberty Square for some reason, so we're going to do it.
See you in a minute.
We are waiting to board
the Haunted Mansion.
The cool, creepy
music is here. The Doom buggies are in sight
it's not Halloween
but I love Halloween
it's Halloween everyday in here
I can't do a creepy laugh
or I would do one
okay we're going to board
and then you can come along
with us.
Well, welcome foolish travelers.
Let's do Haunted Mansion. by the way the audio in our dune bug is completely scrambled.
But sometimes that's the way your park day goes.
It's a feature, not a bug.
You're in the haunted mansion.
Things go wild.
Things go wrong.
Looking down the long hallway now.
Here's the guy trying to get out of his coffin.
Don't open that door. There's always hour 13 in here. Let there be music from regions beyond.
Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, give us a hint by ringing the bell.
Serpents and spiders, tail of a rat, call in the spirits wherever they are. Ah, always ends in a preposition. We're directly over the ballroom now. Classic Pepper's Ghost effect.
Never gets old.
1872.
Marriage Banner. If you don't sing, are you even a fan? Oh Here's the Grim Grinning Ghosts. So I put them in my face to make them see They are the start to shake and walk the noise
We're pretty much totally socialized
So I'm here now, I'm here now, I'm here now
I'm not supposed to be a spirit, I just want to have a life
I'm here now
I'm here now
I'm here now I'm here now This is a very tame cavalcade.
It has a beautiful horse pulling a carriage of Pooh and Piglet and Tigger and Eeyore.
Eeyore looks like he's over it, though.
But he always does.
So we have resumed with you after we had lunch at Tomorrowland Terrace.
And we did not record our eating of the lunch because that would be rude.
And there would be chomping noises, and that's not cool.
But it was nice over there.
You get the good Tomorrowland ambience. We
ate down at the lower level of the Tomorrowland Terrace, which used to be the relaxation station
in the bad times. Now it's the good times again. And our current thought process is
we are going to head over to Fantasyland and see if we can ride Ariel. Let's roll. We had to pause at the entrance
to Fantasyland here next to Sir Mickey's across from Pinocchio Village House because we need of the carousel.
Carousel is full, by the way.
I love the fact that it is a totally even mix between adults and kids.
If you don't enjoy a carousel,
like,
do you even have a soul?
I'm thinking that's a no.
You take Ebenezer Scrooge and plop him down on a carousel,
he's going to smile, I promise you.
Alright, Florida has now dialed it up to full bake.
So we are going to waddle slowly over towards the other side of Fantasyland.
Carousel's done, by the way.
Okay, here we go this area over here prince eric's castle is some of the finest like place making and decor and
imagineering and rock work that i have seen it is lovely and the water feature makes it seem alive
the plantings are incredible pretty sure that's a sea grape.
What do you think, Heather?
That's what I was going to say.
We lived for many years by the ocean.
I'm pretty sure that's a sea grape right here.
And they have a tree across the way, because you know what I do. A tree across the way that is just furiously blooming yellow right next to the back wall of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
So, next stop is Ariel's, is that right?
Voyage of the Little Mermaid, yes.
Voyage of the Little Mermaid is coming up.
Let's see what we can see.
The story began when Ariel fell head over heels in love.
Wait, no.
It began when King Triton asked Sebastian to keep an eye on Ariel. Wait, no. It began when King Triton asked Sebastian
to keep an eye on Ariel.
Wait, no. It began when King Triton
and Old Man and Ursula took
Ariel's boy and
they were working through all
of Ariel's human stuff.
This is a great
memory. L.A.T.E.R. I'm dancing to the sound of the screaming.
Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun.
I'm wondering, I wish I could be a real girl.
I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
Do you want to think about something?
I've got two of them!
But who cares?
Only me
I've got whozits and whatzits galore
Nothing's so much Believe me, I'll be there that human world is a place
Life under the sea is better than anything they got
And before we finish this cafe, it's all through the waves they roll
And the fish on the land make happy, but they said, oh, baby, oh
But fishing the boat is lucky They're far worse than bait
One day when they must get hungry They'll soon go beyond the gate
Under the sea, under the sea Nobody beat us, try us, they beat us
In free of fee We were wonderland folks love to cook
Under the sea we hope to hawk
We got no troubles life is little
Under the sea
Under the sea
Since life is we here we got to be the natural thing
We keep the dream of the truth in our parade
Making marriages our play
We got the spirit flow back to here Under the sea Even the spirits in my parade Making marriages out of the grave You've got to steal it
You've got to hear it
Under the sea
The moon will make the few
They can't play without the place
Play the bass and the guitar
The bass play the brass
The chump play the dot
The moon gives the new
How the soul will feel
The evening rain
The wings of the silver
The dark track and the night
The rock face
The sea and the sand And the gonna show you where it's at
And you'll have to go
Grace, the person who has grace
So there you go, there's the person who has grace
You're happy in heaven
Happy in heaven forever How can he ever ask? How can he ever ask?
Earth,
get up!
See for yourself!
And Earth's most powerless
are greater evil than trifle.
She's like a battery
of all the rest. You are everything. I don't know. I'm a moon, so blue, though I'm wings of the Caspian Sea.
I'm a moon, that makes us all sightless, and in exile and jite as the cold shade to me
I have lived in past, I've been in nasty
They won't hit me like when we fell
But if I were real, please, I can hear their ways
Repentance in the life you made is such joyless memories
Poor, unfortunate souls, in vain, in vain.
There's one woman, Donna, at my loss to get the girl, and do I help her?
Yes, indeed.
Those poor unfortunate souls, so sad, so, so, so,
think I'm fucking to my core, but I'm as amazing as I hope.
Yes, I do. I'm a big boy.
Now to the south we go, come winds of the Caspian Sea.
Now rain sets lost sight of sick necks,
Laryngitis, love, good chag to me.
I admit that in the past I've been honest,
They weren't kidding when they called me a witch
But you'll find I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, I'm a boy of magic, her again My, oh my, the black boy too shy
You're gonna kiss me
In that sigh, it's a shame to lie Oh, oh, oh. Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey!
Hey! Hey! sometimes I get a little confounded.
Just a little hit of mine train.
Aerial was super fun, by the way.
I haven't done that in... I don't even know the last time I did that.
You revisit a ride,
and you just think, man,
better than I remembered it.
Plus, the theming's really nice,
and it's nice and cool.
I enjoyed it
so we are about to enter the back end of Tomorrowland
and here we are going to end it for the day
