Welcome back to Walk About the World and also hello, my dear theme park travelers.
Thanks for joining us here in our weekly little in-park family reunion that we do and today
we're quasi in-park.
We are once again at Disney Springs.
Recently Jay did a fantastic episode leading us through the west side of Disney Springs.
And today, you and I are going to take a meandering stroll through the marketplace.
Talk a little bit, walk a little bit, let your poor heart break a little bit.
Yeah, we're just going to talk about what we see, what we experience.
If you haven't been here in a while, hopefully this will give you a little taste of it.
If your week was anything like mine, and I hope it wasn't, this last week was a lot.
And I personally could use a little stroll through the springs.
Currently we are standing next to Uniqlo, or Uniclo.
I've never really known which it is.
Lego store is in sight across the way. World of Disney is in sight in the far
distance. Levi's store to your right and the Daily Poutine straight ahead. Lots of
seating. It is beautiful, partly cloudy skies here in the city,
beautiful, blooming trees all around us.
And we're gonna take a little walk, so come with me.
So come with me.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on. The
make-it-says-of. Checkbox.
You know we have to pause for the water feature, right? Standing right next to the Daily Poutine.
One of the just most beautiful little water features they've ever made.
Just gorgeous. Beautiful overflowing planters on each of the four corners of the water feature.
It is summer here at Disney Springs.
All of the little planter beds are just bursting with flowers.
It just looks beautiful.
What do we have over here? I'm looking at the Daily Poutine. We have a bourbon orange punch,
Makers Mark, Kentucky straight bourbon, Minute Maid orange juice, red passion fruit,
edible glitter. I don't know about the edible glitter thing, but they also have a Canadian apple slushie. They have poutine too, but anyway, let's go. Alright, rounding the corner at World of Disney. Lego stores on your left.
Giant Lego dragon with a knight fighting him to your left.
Let's walk over to the water with the Lego store behind us, Rainforest Cafe across the way, the Lego dinosaur sitting here staring awkwardly with his tongue hanging out of
his mouth as always and he has a name and I can't remember it.
Legosaurus? I don't know.
In the far distance, the green and blue and pink pastels of Saratoga Springs. And here we have the battle of the coffee purveyors, Joffrey's coffee and tea to your right. This is some of the oldest Springs ambience you will find many, many years ago. I love it.
Wetzel's pretzels to your left.
You can get your pretzels, your lemonade, your hot dogs,
your hot dogs wrapped in pretzels. We've arrived at the other side of World of Disney, where you can be spat upon by a stitch.
Did you hear that?
Just barely missed us.
I'm going to turn right here because we're doing a proper tour.
So to our left, we're going into this little alley here.
To our left is Ghirardelli.
Rick, Michelle, did I do it right?
Ghirardelli.
And then back here you will also find the Basin Store.
Bless you. Dang it. Now you made me want to cough. Or you can get all of your
soapy delights. And then here, Crystal Arts in the backrebus, Erebus brothers.
All right, I want you to breathe deeply here in a moment, because we're going to
go in the little store area of Ghirardelli in a count of three. Ah, could you smell it?
How many of you remember back in the day when you would always get a free sample, a free
square of chocolate when you went in there? All right, on the other side of Ghirardelli we have a face painting corner over here in
a Disney PhotoPass area.
There's a beautiful, beautiful mural over here. Greetings from Disney Springs,
the source of inspiration. I'm going to take a photo for you. Right here you can get henna, temporary tattoos, and face painting.
Right across in the face painting you can get bubble waffles of many sorts over here at Marketplace Snacks.
Somebody's crooning over near the water. Let's duck into Marketplace Co-op here real quick.
The co-op as the name suggests is a series of small stores inside a store where you get all kinds of Disney related goodies. You have the Disney Vault off to the right which is all Disney themed
merchandise cups, shirts, and the like. Here's a stand of orange bird stuff which as you know
is one of my favorites. All kinds of stuff, tropical Mickey shirts, you name it.
D-Tech on demand to your left.
Here on the right side, right back right corner, you can get all the Disney home
decor items for kitchen, living room, plates, you know, all that good stuff.
Plates, cups, dinnerware.
And then there is a dress shop to the left.
And then finally an area where you can get Disney art.
Poor little ones. Alright, back out into the heat.
Let's stroll over towards the crooner.
It's one of those days in central Florida where the sky is just beautiful.
It's very, very blue, puffy cotton ball clouds, but no storms today.
Just a pleasant little covering of clouds.
Here's Dockside Margaritas.
You know what?
I'll try it.
In the last five seconds, I have no idea.
And you know, a little bit of singing going on.
Hey, there's a little bit of singing going on.
Hey, there's a little bit of singing going on.
Hey, there's a little bit of singing going on.
Hey, there's a little bit of singing going on.
Wow.
Do you want to go sing?
Well, I mean, there was singing.
Dockside Margaritas looks like an old weathered margarita joint you might find in Key West. Around the back
you can set in view of the water and around the side here you can set with an
earshot of the visiting musician. All right we're not, let's move on. Off to your right we have Trendy.
Once Upon a Toy.
Once Upon a Toy is great.
I don't care how old you are.
Trendy Disney themed clothing.
Right in front of us is such a cool little thing.
You guys know that I'm a fan of trains.
Any sort of trains.
Little tiny trains, big trains, doesn't matter.
There's a little train here at the center of Marketplace that you can ride, or at
least your little one can ride. I don't know if you can ride it or not, but the
little ones can, and it's cool.
Let's take a left. We're heading around the central waterway here. So we've just taken
a left. If you're looking at the train, taking a left. We have the Pearl Factory here. You
can get pearl jewelry. It says Hawaii's original pearl in the oyster. Japanese jewelry.
Eye catchers over here.
Which is basically a little area where you can buy wind chimes and what not. Big Disney pen trading store
right in the middle here and coming up on a right.
I'm not a pen
person. I know that some of our hosts are. No many of you are.
But if you want a pen, if you want a lanyard for your pens, if you want to book
the store your pens in,
this is the place for you.
Right behind us used to be the Star Wars store, but that is no longer. You have to go elsewhere for your Galactic goodies.
Right here on our left, pun intended, is Lefty's, the left-hand store. If you're a South Pole, get all your left-hand stuff. All right.
Heading towards the center of this little area of Marketplace, we have...
Oh, did you hear?
Somebody's paying.
There is a carousel here.
Where you and all your little ones, your special person you can ride little
horsies or little seats next to the horsies and go around in circles and
hear music. One of my all-time favorite places in all of the Springs is the Earl
of Sandwich right over here to your right. The world's greatest hot sandwich and it it may be
still probably one of the best values on all of Disney property anywhere in any of the resorts
any of the parks Earl of Sandwich tastes amazing it is surprisingly affordable don't sleep on it.
Seats outside and inside.
sleep on it. Seats outside and inside.
Hey, one of the longtime purveyors here, Disney Springs the Spice and Tea Exchange. Haven't been in forever, it smells wonderful. Let's pop in. Welcome back. We're opening up the scale of jars between the two of you.
Thank you.
Can I get a small or a large?
Large.
Sure.
And then any sweet?
One.
One.
We are good to go. The little store is just absolutely jam packed with spice mixes and teas, specialty tea mixes,
you name it.
Even specialty sugars. others.
Something new to me, it's probably not that new, but they have a tea bar in there now. Right around the corner from Spice and Tea, I'm going to put you in the queue. Ready?
Right around the corner from Spice and Tea Exchange.
Or Plant Your Bed with gorgeous white blooming crepe myrtles and then right past that is EET, E-E-T, Modern Indian Cuisine.
Been in there a couple times, it's a favorite of Bill and Aaron's Zeiss.
Excellent food. Tucked away.
And last we've made it my friends. We are, it's not last, we're not ending here, but
one of my favorite places in all of Disney Springs is the Christmas store and we're going in. It's
it's nearly mid mid-year. A bunch of travelers just piled out but it's nearly
mid-year but I could use a little Christmas now. Oh man and the air
conditioning is crisp.
air conditioning is crisp. Breathe in the Christmas wall to wall ornaments decor
with what looks like the bottom of giant Christmas trees that we're going to walk past. Come on.
Off to your right, there's personalization available. You can get your ornaments personalized. We are now under one of the Christmas trees, just like you and I would have done as a kid,
climb under the Christmas tree and have your little Christmas fort.
You can do that here, I absolutely love it.
One of the things I've noticed is that the resort themed ornaments are, in my opinion,
some of the best art being produced, some of the best collectibles. Fantastic! Whoever is in charge of the
ornament department, well done! On this back wall here you can find ornaments related to all the movies, all the classics,
animated films, you name it.
I just love this store.
Now let's pop out. Taking refuge under the shade of a beautiful white blooming crepe myrtle here next to the
art of Disney.
I haven't been to the art of Disney in a while.
Quite certain there's nothing to be heard.
Can't really hear art that well. Josh may disagree. This is the far back corner
of Disney Springs at the marketplace. Can't go any further without exiting. I was going
to say we're going to waddle up here as for pretty dang accurate actually
we're gonna walk up here towards Rainforest Cafe you can you can hear
the water already come on Rainforest Cafe, a wild place to shop and eat.
We don't go there very often anymore, but so much nostalgia for me.
This is like, if you're a child of the 80s, and you're probably not because I'm old, but
if you are, this is reminiscent of a mall to me.
Just has that, it just has that 90s vibe to it.
Still such a cool place.
We're going to pop in.
Before we do, I wanted to let you know that right next to Earl of Sand, which is Goofy's Candy Company,
which is a great place to go in and get a super cold carbonated beverage and a dessert, a treat of your choice.
Come on, let's go in and reinforce real quick.
Just looking at the menu doesn't change much. Who hasn't had the awesome appetizer adventure platter?
With Cajun chicken, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, pico de gallo, all kinds of good stuff.
Yes.
And I would eat it right, right now.
Let's go in. Dense jungle foliage attached to every square inch of the ceiling with tropical birds and monkeys and fruits and then of course all the
merch you could ever dream of.
And if you did not know the the main little mascot of Rainforest Cafe is a
little green tree frog. No I I do not know his name, but
he's on everything. And since the time when I wore a younger man's clothes, until now,
one of my just, I don't know, I can't help but stare every single time I come is the big old cylindrical aquariums.
Sorry, I'm staring at them now.
Just gorgeous with all kinds of tropical plants inside and tropical fish and bubbles.
Just love it.
Even though we're not eating here and I've got a microphone. Should we just randomly walk through the dining area? Here's the giant apes and the big elephant. That eats rocks and things.
And the water feature with what looks like Atlas or somebody. The water boiling up around his nethers. I'm going to try to get a little bit of a better view of the Volcano nearly near to erupt off to your right. Alright, folks, back out into Marketplace.
As soon as we exit, boiling cauldron of water and steam and alligators coming down the side of the volcano. Alright, deep breath in and out. Oh, angry alligator. Alright, with the rumbling of the volcano behind us, let's give a shout out as we always
do to our patrons.
At the beautiful tomorrow level we have Beck Castle, Bill and Erin Zeiss, Brian E. Grant,
Derek at Satisfactual Sign Company, John Hamilton, Meredith Izzo,
Hannigan, David Krause, Jessica Davis, Courtney Otter, Care Louise Moody, Laura B., Randall Lynch,
Barbara Torino, Barry Campbell, Norm Disney, RJ Waseea, and Fabian Gumbinger. And then at the
Living Laboratory level, whoa, easy. We have Debbie Gimballa, Eric Seinhauer, Josh Nakano, Lindsay O'Connell, James Bejum, and
Eric Atuso, who recently had his very own episode.
Thank you all so much.
We are, as we call ourselves, the least ambitious Disney podcast.
We're not very active on Patreon.
We should be.
We feel bad.
But we're just average homies like yourself.
We work jobs and do this stuff because we love it.
And so I'm sorry. We're not as active as we should be.
But we mention you all often in our group chat.
Anytime that any of you reach out to us, we always share it with all of you.
And we value you.
No you can't. You can go to patreon.com slash walkabout wdw. You know what? I make this Thank you patrons.
Alright thank you for joining me on a little stroll through the marketplace area of Disney
Springs today.
Currently looking across, back across the waterway towards World of Disney with the rumbly volcano of rainforest
behind us now. Really appreciate all of you. Thank you for being there, for
listening. If you're just finding us, this is what we do. That's about it. You won't
find news or current events here. There are plenty of places you can get that
and people who do it very, very well.
We walk, we talk, we listen, we soak up some of the ambience and magic of the parks and
most of all, hopefully, we just put you in the middle of it and allow you to have a little
bit of Disney magic in your week wherever you are.
We hope you are well.
Look us up on Instagram at
walkaboutwdw. See that's what I was gonna say earlier and I totally messed up.
You can indeed find us on Instagram at walkaboutwdw. You can also find us
online at walkabouttheworld.com. From there you can find links to all kinds of stuff. You can even purchase your own
Walkabout t-shirt. And lastly, I want to say, reach out to us. Love to hear from you. On this
side of the microphone, you really brighten our day. Hopefully we bring a little bit of joy into
yours, but on our side when you reach out, it means the world to us. We share it with all of the hosts. The crooner is crooning. There is my friends a great big beautiful tomorrow
out there for each of us and we will see you on another one of those tomorrows on a future episode episode of Walk About the World. Bye guys!
