Welcome back to Walk About the World and hello travelers and welcome back to
Disney Springs. Hasn't been a norm for us lately. About time for a
Springs trip. Standing next to the water feature here, the beautiful fountain next
to the Daily Poutine with the entrance of World of Disney in sight
and Uniqlo behind us.
Slightly cloudy.
Comfy, at least for now.
It's supposed to be in the 90s today comfy for now
let's just take in some of the ambience of the springs together today let's go We've rounded the corner.
Lego store is here.
To your left, past
Uniqlo is
Dinosaur.
Paddle fish in the distance.
As is the waterway rainforest way off to our right
springs is buzzing this morning
it's not completely crowded
but it is
it's a hopping
it is morning it's odd that I'm doing anything in hoppin'. It is morning.
It's odd that I'm doing anything in the morning, but it is morning.
You know, I said dinosaur.
It's not dinosaur.
It's T-Rex.
There is a large dinosaur.
But we're not at Animal Kingdom.
It's not the hairiest place on Earth.
This is the most cha-ching place on earth dad jokes i know but t-rex not dinosaur man let's head uh let's let's head right right
towards the waterway we got bb wolfs over here which is you know big bad wolf where they sell snossages of various sorts. But let's walk across the bridge towards Rainforest
and see what we can see with our ears.
Let's go.
Yeah, let's go down there.
B.B. Wolf's Sausage Company. Just saying here you can get a New Orleans craw dog or a Nolens craw dog depending smoked andouille sausage crawfish lemon caper aioli creole pepper
sauce on a roll then go straight to first aid. about halfway across the bridge now and in perfect view of paddlefish which
i have to admit has looked better it's like green algae and rust on the side of this thing.
I know it sits in the water, so.
But still, from this side, paint fading.
I know, I'm trying to keep it positive here, but I just normally don't walk over to this side of paddlefish.
And she's looking a little weather-worn.
In the distance, Water Taxi is arriving to the docks on the other side of the Rainforest Cafe.
And across the waterway, we see Saratoga Springs Resort in mint greens and pinks and sky blue.
Love that resort.
Many of you used to know I used to own there as a DVC member.
We've since sold it, but loved staying there.
Nice breeze across the water this morning,
and one of the amphicars is headed this way from the
boathouse.
Little red guy.
That looks like fun, but I have to
admit my anxiety always says,
I don't know about that.
These little guys look like they're about to sink at any given moment.
The little guys look like they're about to sink at any given moment. The amphicar approaches. I'm going to just
stand here and see if we can hear it come by. And there they come right by us.
Wave, everybody. Okay, let's head on across the bridge
towards Rainforest. Let's go. Can you hear the water fountains across the way? The All right, so we are steps away from Rainforest at the very edge of this bridge, looking across the waterway back towards the World of Disney.
And let's just see what we can see.
To our left, I see the Marketplace Co-op across the way.
Dockside Margaritas.
Just to the right of that.
Ghirardelli?
I don't know, man.
I always forget which one it is.
I'm just going to say Ghirardelli
and just assume that Rick is shaking his head
at me.
World of Disney
and the stage
directly across from us.
Starbucks
and the Lego store
off to the right.
You can start to hear some of the aminals from rainforests. Let's go. Did you ever hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?
Because I have not.
I don't even know what a blue corn moon is.
I think they made that up. Kampung Kampung I just have to share something since, uh...
Well, okay.
Behind the scenes, Pete and Josh are at Animal Kingdom today.
Same time, exact same time as I am here.
And they're doing a thing and recording a thing, and they did a live,
and we will have that episode coming up at some point.
Not sure before or after this one.
But in our Walkabout Crew Instagram chat,
they just said that they listened to Koratinga Tinga
and got to talk with him after.
I'm not going to say what town he lives in, but he lives in one of our local towns here, as to be expected.
Really cool guy. I'm glad they got to talk to him. He's kind of a legend.
We reference him often internally in our walkabout chat.
We call him DHD.
And no, I'm not going to tell you what that means.
Reference that before.
That's a very, very, very, very deep cut inside joke.
Up to you to figure out.
Okay, enough of that
passing swirls on the water where you get your soft serves In case it wasn't obvious, here we are.
Rainforest Cafe.
Uh-oh. Eruption in progress. The Norske Råd You can really feel those flames! I'm going to take a short break and then I'll show you the rest of the video. Nya! The alligator is angry. Well, there you go.
I don't think we've ever captured the full
rainforest
volcano eruption before.
But here we go.
Rainforest Cafe, a wild place to shop and eat i don't think
we've done this for a while let's duck in the shop i'm not sure if there's much ambience but
it's fun and i like it in here
just happened to notice a uh a hippo t-shirt hangry hangry it says.
Ah.
Nothing smells like this.
Oh no.
They have the aquariums all covered.
I wonder what's happening.
I was going to go take a peek
at the aquariums which are one of the
major features as you walk into the store and the lobby here and all the
aquariums have covers on them
boo If you've never been, Rainforest is old school.
And the food is...
It's kind of mid.
And you kind of have to...
Oh, wait, here's the storm. What?
It is a rainforest after all. so It's one of the features of your dining experience
And back in the seating area
The animals go crazy
You've got elephant, monkeys, all kinds of stuff back there
And they all go crazy during the
And the birds during the thunderstorm
But if you haven't been you you have to cast yourself back to like i don't know maybe
like late 90s early 2000s because back then the old rainforest was the stuff.
Very unique at the time.
And it still is a lot of fun.
It's not cheap.
The food is not amazing.
But even today, it's still a fun dining experience.
All right, let's head back out.
Goofy's Candy Company directly in front of us, and we're heading into the marketplace section over here. Norske Norske Disney's Days of Christmas Store over here
where every day
is Christmas Day. Let's pop in Not sure if I've ever seen it, this empty in here.
Least crowded I've ever seen.
Looking at the back wall here
Mickey and the Fab Five
all decked out
in their holiday best
wrapped packages
there are a few things of note
about this shop
one of the favorite
places that Heather and I go
together, we just love it
if you walk inside there there are a couple of
what looks like giant trees giant christmas trees that you walk underneath of which is really fun
and frankly i think some of the best merchandise or the best crafted merchandise is the holiday
decor like it just super high quality lots of unique things
there are a few things that i have purchased um over the recent years i've noticed the quality
has really increased over the last few years and i've purchased a few things and i actually took off
um the little doohickey that hangs from the tree,
and just set these on my desk because they're that good.
All right, back outside of... Oh, by the way, there's one other interesting thing.
There's a gentleman who works in there,
legit looks like Santa Claus from a movie,
and I just saw him.
I'm not sure what his name is or where he's from,
but big old bushy white beard beard just looks exactly like Santa Claus.
He's behind the counter right now.
All right.
So where are we now?
Star Wars Trading Post.
Goofy's Candy Company.
And the Carousel.
It just, I think it's called Carousel.
It's very nice.
Over here to our left.
And past the Carousel is one of my favorite eating holes
earl of sandwich have you been if you haven't on your next trip you should try it
quick commercial for earl of sandwich food is really good The line moves along very quickly. It's one of the cheapest things you can get here.
Great value.
Delicious.
Loads of places to set.
Highly recommend. passing the giant pin trading store and then in the distance is once upon a toy
because i'm a gentleman of a certain age
our little kiddos are
in college, one graduating college this year
so we don't pop into Once Upon a Toy
as often as we once did
but I do love it in there because
I'm a big boy but I like toys
I just, full disclosure
I bought Bebop from
the new
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Mutant Mayhem line yesterday.
So I'm not grown up yet. Passing Trendy. Here's Dockside Margaritas.
To your right.
To your left, a Marketplace Co-op, which is another favorite of ours.
Always have cool stuff to find in there. Here you can get your face painted or a caricature.
No, it's not a caricature.
You can get things drawn on your face, like you can be a tiger.
El Tigre.
Ghirardelli to our left.
I swear if I'm saying that wrong, I'm never saying it again.
That's probably a lie.
I will continue to say it wrong.
But breathe deeply, folks.
Here we go.
Walking you past the door.
Oh, my God. oh my god so nice
we've come full circle
we're back here to the entrance of World of Disney
pretty much directly across from where we were
on the bridge
with Waterside Stage to our right
entrance of the World of Disney to our left,
Basin and Crystal Arts behind us.
Also, Stitch will spit on you right here if you're not careful. Thank you.
Really excited to go see Savannah. Right in front of the Waterside Stage, Hooby Doo, folks.
Want to be just like you. All right, you've had your chocolate.
Now it's time to have your coffee.
Walking past Starbucks, breathe deeply.
Walk about Smell-O-Vision. Back Back near the water side here next to the Lego store,
and you can see the big green-yellow dragon.
Green and yellow Lego dragon. Lego figures of Chewie and Rey and Kylo and some red stormtrooper guy. As we always do, let's give a shout-out to our lovely patrons, shall we?
