I can see you from here.
Thank you.
Welcome back, travelers.
It's your old friend here, Rick, with...
Lisa.
Eliza.
The whole family's here today.
We're here just a few minutes after rope drop,
and we just want to give you a nice little meander through the park.
I don't know why they do that. Let's see what we can hear. and we just want to give you a nice little meander through the park.
Let's see what we can hear.
This is kind of odd.
I think this is the first time in a while when we've come through the gate and we haven't had the train pass them by.
I'm missing my whistle.
Oh, because of the Memorial Day events.
We have the Navy band here today.
Welcome aboard the Disneyland Omnibus.
For your safety, please keep all arms, hands, legs, and feet
inside the bus.
Please stay seated at all times. Parents and guardians, supervisors, and children, make sure
they are fully seated for their own safety. And with those two toots of our magic horn and a few
happy thoughts, we are now on our way. I see on my far right, way up there on the train station,
that engine is called the Ripley. That is the engine that Walt Disney drove out on opening day back in 1955 July 17th 1955 and that train with the red and white stripes was one of the
first trains that was here when the park open on my left there's Minnie Mouse
having a few pictures taken with some of our guests on my right foreground you
see a little red car that was the very first car here at Disneyland coming to
the park roughly a year after the park opened and in front of the Opera House well there's my boss
the leader of the club himself Mickey Mouse
and right in front of the bus there's Chip and always tell Chip by the
chocolate chip on his nose that's the difference between Chip and Dave.
We're about to head down Main Street, USA.
Main Street here at Disneyland was designed to show you what small-town America was like over a century ago.
It was modeled after Walt Disney's boyhood of town of Marsland, Missouri.
Although Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois.
Please stay fully seated. We just need to pause here momentarily to let Val the horse pass us by. It won't take long since
Val is just like a thoroughbred pulling that horse-drawn streetcar.
If you look on either side of the street, or better yet, up on the sidewalk, you'll
notice these gas lanterns.
And because of the Pixar celebration, the gas lanterns have a rainbow-colored banner attached to them.
Walt Disney purchased the gas lanterns from the city of Baltimore for two cents a pound.
Baltimore was selling the gas lanterns for scrap metal because the city was making the transition from gas to electricity to illuminate their main streets.
Disney felt the gas lanterns would add just the right touch of atmosphere and ambiance
to turn the century Main Street.
During the early days of Disney, they had a lamp ladder
that would go from one gas lantern to another
and light each by hand. Now, of course, they keep them
fully illuminated 24 hours a day.
The gas lanterns here on Main Street are now
over 200 years old.
There's some old lanes.
On my right foreground, I see we have members of the Highlight Green Shirt Club of Southern California.
I want to welcome them here today.
I saw them from a mile away.
No, I think it's true what they say.
You learn something brand new every day.
I learned something brand new just yesterday.
I'll pass it on to you because I don't know how many of you
were aware of this.
But just yesterday,
I learned what the difference was
between the bird flu and swine flu.
One requires a tweetment.
The other requires an oinkment.
Tweetment.
Well, don't forget, the Magic Happens Parade at 3 o'clock and 5.30 this afternoon
and the Fireworks Spectacular at 9.30 tonight.
Fantasmic, the return of Fantasmic at 9 o'clock and 10.30.
We are coming to the end of our run.
I want to thank you all for choosing to ride on the Omnibus,
for discovering the joy of motoring.
Make sure you have all of your personal belongings and most importantly, please stay fully seated
until the bus comes to a complete stop.
Thank you.
Thank you very much. I hope you enjoyed that old-timey little bus ride down Main Street.
Do we need to stop by your ducks?
Havoc Jedi, Michelle, and Eliza share a deep, deep passion for Disneyland ducks.
We've got a couple napping female mallards here at the entrance of Frontierland.
We're walking down towards the port here for the Mark Twain of Columbia
And I guess the big question is
Do we turn left or do we turn right?
Well I mean
You get there both ways
Let's walk past the mansion
See what it looks like
With the construction going on
Take a look and see if they've got
The boats dropping on
Tiana's Bayou yet.
Yeah, Pocahontas. I don't know if I've ever seen one around here before.
Walking past the Golden Horseshoe here, the Stage Door Cafe along the Rivers of America.
The new popcorn buckets are quite adorable. Thank you. You're terrified of what?
Geese even.
Oh, yes.
The Canadian geese over on Tom Sawyer were quite scary.
Those razors inside those beaks.
It's like teeny little needle teeth inside a beak.
Do you need to go activate your band on the wall?
You don't know about this? I told you about this.
While they're doing construction here at
Haunted Mansion,
completely changing the exterior,
they have
added a magic band
activator that will
play the sounds of the ride
for you outside, so you can still get your little
taste.
So they've got all the art
up of the new line that's going to exist.
The new queue.
And then also concept art of Haunted Mansion
and Main Street and New Orleans Square.
It's really beautiful stuff they've got out here
including the portrait gallery
paintings.
But you've got the
speaker right there, and you've got the activator right there.
Yeah, I pulled it up.
Big daddy.
Big daddy.
You here for
the magic band thing?
Yes, we are.
Just need to wait for it to reset and then put it up.
And it's doing the multiple different ones today.
Oh that's great.
The other day it was just throwing.
Caw, caw, caw.
Here, I just bought this balloon. I got all of them.
I got crow, boar, and wolf.
I never charge mine.
Is it reset yet?
I don't think it's quite reset.
Yeah, you have to wait for it to start to stop glowing.
There we go.
How are a world of
Jedis and Loftcats.
Mandalorians.
And while we are here shortly after rope drop,
they are not using
any of the external cue for rise of resistance
right now, which is kind of mind-blowing to me.
The creature sounds of this entrance end are really magnificent.
Is the ride broken? It's not broken.
Yeah, it's broken.
So there's a queue of people waiting to get in the queue when it finally reopens. Walking up here past the A-Wing and X-Wing.
Hear those engines cycling. There's at least 15 resistance fighters here guarding the entrance to the Rise. Oh, look at that shirt!
What shirt?
That shirt!
Oh, it's an anime shirt.
Oh.
Nice.
I was sure that you would be drawn to the anime style one.
That is cool, but I like my joint shirt better.
It looks like the Arcadian.
They got the Herschel backpacks on this side.
I still want that Han Solo shirt and vest.
My wife just shakes her head at me.
I mean, Father's Day is right around the corner, but...
Let's see if we'll get lucky enough to spot any BDXs out today.
Do you need your fancy horchata drink again?
No, I'm good.
It was okay, but it was really sweet.
Like, really sweet. Yeah, they tend to over-sweeten a lot of the cold brews.
Not just the cold brews, the horchata's.
I think that was a cold brew mix, wasn't it?
Yeah, it was horchata and... And ube. I think that was the cold brew mix, wasn't it?
And ube.
I thought there was.
Because they don't have a sign for it.
Wait, I want to try the other one.
Try the hibiscus thing.
We're walking into the marketplace here at Galaxy's Edge.
Coming in the end next to the refreshers with the Dianoga. ¡Vamos! Kampung Kampung I'm here! This is your man, the Jew. Thank you. Kampung Kampung Here we go.
Welcome aboard the red car trolley.
For your safety, please remain seated,
keeping your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside.
And watch your children.
For your safety, please remain seated with your hands, arms, feet, and legs inside the cramp.
Take care of your children. Thank you. All righty folks, good morning and welcome to the Red Forge Holly.
My name is Chad, I'll be your conductor on this line.
We have Derek, he's going to be our motorist.
We're going to be providing local service between Port of the Street and Hollywood Land.
We have stops along the way at Carthay Circle.
Now, trolley systems like this one first began operation in 1901 at the Pacifica Lake Railway.
The Pacifica Lake Railway at its peak covered over a thousand miles on over seventy lines, carrying over 65 on a five-seater's trailer,
comfort speed with overall safety.
We are riding aboard the 623 car,
600 series, it was manufactured by a junior girl company
and put into service in 1922.
We're gonna be approaching our first stop on this line,
our day circle. From here here you can connect with any foot to anywhere in the park, Kyrsland, San Francisco, Pixar Pier, Grizzly Peak.
We just ask that you remain seated until you come to a full complete stop.
And those doors have opened. Our next stop is going to be Hollywood Bay.
Hey Shad, do you want to try to snake the line? If you have all adults in your party, it's the best way. Yeah. Yeah, that's the only thing that's not.
All right, so coming up on the left-hand side of the trolley is going to be our popcorn cart.
It is no ordinary popcorn cart.
It is the only one in the park that serves fresh popcorn.
And it is delicious.
Alright, we're going to be leaving
Heart Bay Circle and entering the glamorous world of Hollywoodland.
Hollywoodland is home to one of California's most famous exports,
motion pictures.
And one of the reasons that Southern California has become the capital of the movie industry
is because of our favorable Euro weather.
Today's a good example of that.
Over on the left-hand side of the trolley is going to be Mickey's Fun or Magic.
It is a 15-minute 3D show featuring Mickey and Mickey Mouse.
Leslie Donald being the serious.
If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
All right, we are going to be approaching our next stop on this line.
We'll be pulling up right in front of Animation.
We just ask that you remain seated to a full-plate stop.
And those for us have openly got one more stop just around the corner.
We'll see if anyone gets off. This is only a courtesy stop.
Thank you.
Bye, guys.
Come to Animation.
Bye. Hi guys, welcome to Animation Studios. Okay.
Alright, well, for the daughter's request, you guys are going to get some fun here.
We're going to go into the Animation Studios.
Okay, thank you.
We've attempted recording here once or twice before.
There's some really spectacular interior ambiance and some fun opportunities to learn how to draw.
This space is just a beautiful soundscape, visual experience.
I want you to see it with your ears. One, two, three, four.
The big, giant open space of a giant oval
surrounded by film screens
showing clips of movies as we hear the music of those films.
As you may be able to tell, we just went from cars and we're moving into Pocahontas. Thank you. Can you paint the road with colors of the wind?
Can you paint the road with colors of the wind?
Oh, you don't know what they are supposed to speak to strangers in.
Have you seen them before?
I know you do. I walked with you once upon a dream.
I know you, you keep my heart so familiar.
And I know it too, I feel the sound of love, they say, it's not so hard. It looks like our drawing opportunities are not spectacular.
The characters are giving us right now.
So we're just going to enjoy this for a moment or two longer and then we're going to head on out. As you can tell, this is a wonderful place to relax.
Good AC, spectacular music, dark.
It's kind of heaven.
It's our living with the land.
It is kind of our living with the land.
And you can lose, you can lose the land.
Well, I hope you've enjoyed us as we have done this nice little wander about for both parks on what turned out to be an absolutely stunning Southern California day.
And of course, with my dear wife, Lisa.
