Hello, travelers.
Welcome back to Walk About the World.
I'm your host of Michelle.
Currently standing outside the Disneyland Railroad.
For some reason, there's no music playing.
Very strange.
There's always music playing.
You can actually hear the Five Freeway.
Very strange.
But the plan is today to...
rope drop fantasy land.
So we will make our way down Main Street and
see what we can hear.
As far as rope dropping goes though, I don't want to get caught in the stampede of people running to attractions.
So I'm going to hang back just a little bit and not get caught up in it.
I will say that it's very eerie walking through Disneyland without any sort of soundtrack or music.
And it's not typical.
They usually have it running before the parks, before they open the gates to let people in.
So I...
Very strange.
All right, it seems like someone's flipped a switch.
Thank goodness because I'm just walking down Main Street having to listen to my own thoughts.
It's not something that I enjoy.
All right.
So what are we doing today?
We are going to take a...
deep dive into the dark rides of Fantasyland. But until then, just kind of wait for the
opening announcement and then let everyone rush to wherever they're going. And we're going to
take our time. To all, we come to this happy place, welcome. In 1955, Walt Disney spoke those
meaningful words, inviting guests to step inside the happiest place on earth for the very first
time. Today, we hope you will enjoy all the happiness we make together during the Disneyland
Resort's 70th celebration. For your safety, please walk to your next destination. Thank you,
and welcome to... Quiet again. It's very strange. Ah, there you go. So much better. Okay. So everyone has
scattered to the various lands running at a very, I'm sorry, walking,
Walking, it's walking at a very brisk pace, but more like slow running.
Anyhow, we're going to casually make our way over to Mr. Toad.
We are coming up on the partner statue of Walt and Mickey.
Castle straight ahead.
Crossing the bridge into Fantasyland now.
Very important when we have some duckies on the left.
Hi, Duckies.
Inside Fantasyland now.
We'll make our way to Toad's.
If we can navigate around the two-hour Peter Panline.
That's an exaggeration.
It's probably like 40 minutes, but it feels like two hours.
A carousel, two hour left.
Mr. Toad's wild ride.
You're a sacred handlakes inside.
Watch your children.
And do you try to try to ride.
Is that, I think it's the only ride where you literally exit through hell.
And there's a nice little musical ditty to greet you when you get there.
So we're going to do Pinocchio next.
Might as well.
This is Jenny Cricket, official conscience and God.
For your safety,
with kids, be sure to watch you.
I'll see you under the Wishing Star.
For your security,
permanence in time.
Okay,
go away to the next dark ride.
I just want to take a moment to appreciate the hidden details in Fantasyland.
A lot of like hand-painted signs and embellishments, stained glass,
and like just little hidden details.
Like in Snow White you have squirrels holding up the pillar.
Like it looks like they're part of the pillar.
And I just find it really neat.
And like there's crows lining the other wall.
And then on top of the moon.
Nokia, you have one of the wooden little puppets, and it's just like stuff that maybe,
I feel like people don't slow down enough to just appreciate.
So I just want to take a moment to appreciate it.
Weather remains, like, every ride has one, and it's just, I don't know.
I like to slow down and appreciate it.
So let's head on over to Snow White.
Oh, before we do that, there's also some original fans.
Fantasyland, details, like, more towards the front of where the castle is.
But there's an original, like, Peter Pan wood carvings that I, like, absolutely love.
It's just a hidden thing.
And if you don't know it's there, you'll miss it, you know?
And onward to Snow White.
So Snow White used to be called Snow White's Scary Adventures, and now it's Snow White's Enchanted Wish.
I prefer the scary version, not going to lie.
I mean, do enjoy the improvements that they made.
The ride looks good.
Everything is working.
Dark scary side of things.
So we have one last dark ride.
It has the longest line.
But with the magic of editing, you won't have to wait at all.
So I'm going to jump in line, and then I'll see you after Peter Pan.
Peter Pan is definitely my favorite dark ride.
You're suspended in the air, flying over London, flying through Neverland.
cutting through the Jolly Roger.
I don't think it gets much better than that.
And it makes me feel like a kid again,
and I think that's the whole point of Disneyland in general.
To feel like big kids?
So we have one last dark ride.
Alice in Wonderland.
Just for fun.
Pinocchio's out, walking around,
signing autographs.
There she is.
Alice in Wonderland.
Beacups going crazy.
Right next to Alice.
Adamorn is standing tall.
Right next to Alice as well.
Oh, and Captain Hook.
Captain Hook is here.
Not signing autographs, I'm not sure how he does that with the hook.
Maybe with a spring hand?
I don't know.
I'm not gonna ask.
Oh yeah, let's take a spin on Alice.
See you after.
The white rabbit.
Well, see if we all say out.
It went this way.
Now,
Togie.
This way.
What you can't
Where I am
What a great?
What I'm sorry?
What do you like some?
Which is our right instead
Can we play croquet?
And a world forty goose.
The queen's always win.
What I love about Alice in Wonderland is that
I think it's the only dark ride that I'm aware of
that starts outside, goes inside, comes back outside, goes back inside, comes back outside.
I think that's just so trippy.
It's like a traditional dark ride on the inside, but then you also venture outside as well.
It's just pretty neat.
Those imaginers know what they're doing.
So that's going to do it for me today.
I believe we covered all the dark rides in Fantasyland.
If I forgot one, I'm sorry.
So, yeah, that's going to do it for me this time, and thanks for listening.
And you're all invited to an on birthday party, apparently.
Okay, see you next time.
