Episode Date: April 25, 2023Hello Travelers! This week join host Jeremy for a brief walkabout through Disney's Animal Kingdom on Earth Day and the 25th anniversary of this beautiful place. We were also lucky to have host Pete on... the scene early in the day where he recorded and live-streamed the 25th anniversary ceremony, and so you will find a bit of that ceremony at the end of the episode! As always, use good listening devices as we always record in 4 channel surround sound. We hope you enjoy the episode and thanks so much for following along! Lastly give a shout to our Orlando correspondent Pete at @neverlandlocal. You can now also drop us at line at contact@walkabouttheworld.com. Say hi, tell us how you found us, and give us some suggestions on things you'd love to hear. Oh
Good morning explorers and adventurers
Invite you to join us in front of the Tree of Life as we celebrate the 25th
anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Welcome back to Walk About the World and hello travelers from Discovery Island and Disney's
Animal Kingdom, the hairiest place on earth, for Earth Day. And also the 25th anniversary of this masterpiece of a park.
It is a glorious day here in Central Florida.
It's going to be a scorcher, but it's not too bad yet.
And so we're going to do what we do today.
We are going to wander, we are going to walk about and see what we can see with our ears
on this anniversary.
Happy birthday Animal Kingdom Day. Come along with me. Let's go.
Just past Pizzafari.
And the Atra Grotto.
Let's take a spin through the Tree of Life Garden for a few.
It even sounds lovely here today. All right.
Here's the back side of water I just love that.
If you haven't done the Tree of Life Garden Trail, you are missing out.
It's not only do you go directly I mean as close as
you can get to the base of the Tree of Life and see all the awesome carvings
but the water feature is astounding
back in Discovery Island and what to my wondering I should appear that's right a
Kevin appear? That's right. A Kevin! Here we have the Eight Spoon Cafe, which is currently closed, but they're fueling it up.
I see them taking the food in now, and it's all kinds of mac and cheese offerings
and a pulled pork jelly donut sandwich.
So if you're thinking to yourself, self, how could I have one of the worst stomach disasters in a disney park?
You could wait until it's about 93.5 degrees and polish off a pulled pork sandwich made of donuts.
That'll do it for you.
Okay, here we are.
Crossing the Discovery River yet again.
Looking across to our catty corner left is the Drinkwalla.
There's a sign here that points to the right that says,
Lovely Riverview.
It is correct.
We've left Anandapur and now we're entering into circus on the village at
the foothills of the mountains and here we are next to the Yeti Palace Hotel
perpetually opening next season

Well, good morning and welcome and happy Earth Day!
Wow, what a crowd. Thank you all so much for being here to celebrate this very special occasion.
That's right, Rayvon. 25 years ago today, we opened the gates of this beautiful park for the very first time. And at the opening of those gates,
Disney's Animal Kingdom has been at the core of our conservation efforts
right here at Walt Disney World Resort.
And all over the globe, there are animals that are thriving
because of the very work that we are doing right here in this park.
It's because of our cast members.
Yes, let's hear it for it!
And it's because of our cast members that we've been able to share the magic of nature
with millions of guests.
And some of those favorites include the Kilimanjaro Safari or the Festival of the Lion King and
more recently, Avatar Flight of Passage.
Ray Goddard has taken a lot of people to make the last 25 years possible.
From our Imagineers, to our cast members, to each and every guest who visits Disney's Animal Kingdom.
And you know, Allie, when we're all here, it's like we're one big family.
And we know how to keep a celebration going.
And so we want to invite you all to be a part of our family as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom. Every time This is my best ever You know the best of all
