Well hello everybody welcome back to another episode of walk about the world
I am your host today Pete Neverland local we are in arguably my favorite
Disney Park Animal Kingdom to do a walk and talk through the park and see what
we can hear so let's go I'm going to take that. Thank you. In through the tap styles, headed to the right, always go to the right.
The ECV rentals, wheelchair rentals,
garden gate gifts on your right.
A warm summer day here at Animal Kingdom.
I hope that you all are having a phenomenal day and hopefully this can add to that day
the sounds of Animal Kingdom. I'm going to get a map. I put this view up with any other view in the parks of seeing the cornerstone, the jewel of each park, seeing Tree of Life.
As it just kind of pops out of nowhere.
Alright, so Tree of Life directly ahead. Pandora, World of Avatar
to our left.
We're going to head right
around the Discovery Trading Company
and head into Dino Land.
Come on, let's go.
No lagging behind. Let's go, let's go.
We got things to hear Now if this was smell-o-vision you would smell the barbecue
from Flame Tree Barbecue
emanating everywhere.
Oh my gosh.
I wasn't hungry, but I feel like I am now.
And what do my eyes see to the right?
Kevin.
In all her glory.
Let's say hello to Kevin.
Come here. in all her glory. Let's say hello to Kevin. Hi, buddy.
While Kevin is out and about,
feel free to make fun of him as you please.
There's no lying, no words to tell you.
Hey, Kevin! Kevin!
Oh, look at the bird!
Alright, passing by Discovery Island character landing.
Moana meets there.
We are going to take the bridge here into Donald's Dino Bash and Dinoland.
Welcome to Dinoland USA, the friendliest fossils in America. Boneyard on our left hand side
Place to tire out all the kiddos
Triceratops spin directly ahead.
Dino Dumbo, as some people call it.
I'm just not letting Blakely out in it because Blakey will be in it. Popping into
Chester and Hester's
or erupting with gifts.
It's a place to get
AC more than anything.
And yes, Jeremy, the train
is running.
In the back here behind Chester and Hester's is a meet and greet with Adventure Goofy. We are going to head into Dino-Rama
as the sun starts to peek out of the clouds. Again, I hope everyone is having a phenomenal day today.
Okay.
Weight finding right now.
To the left of me, triceratops spin. to the left of me triceratops fin to the right of me
what once was
I won't even speak of its name
an attraction that's not here anymore
let's just leave it at that
it's too painful
literally
and all the games in front of us. We got Comet Crasher.
And the Mammoth Marathon. I don't know. um
wayfinding to our right here is Finding Nemo, the Big Blue and Beyond.
Another great place to escape the heat for some AC.
30-ish minutes in some AC is not a bad thing on a day like this Judging by the screams, I think you know where we are.
We are coming up to Expedition Everest on our right-hand side.
Namely, the viewing area For people
To watch their loved ones plunge
Down the big drop
45 minute wait
Not terrible 45 minute wait not terrible
about a 15 minute wait
for single rider Thirsty River Bar.
It's a pretty long line
chugging along here on the right-hand side is the famous Blue Bus. Some of the best soft serve in all of the land.
Or kingdom, I should say.
Looks like Cali River Rapids is a 30 minute wait.
Not a bad investment of your time on a day like this.
For sure.
Not sure how my microphone and windscreen would do on a water ride.
But maybe if we get enough response from y'all, maybe me and Jeremy and Josh can
take a trip on Kali River Rapids. What do you think?
So we're at another crossroads here.
You've got Discovery Island and Dinoland.
Path to the left.
We've got Africa straight ahead.
We are going to Africa.
Let's go to Africa.
I can't say that without singing the song.
I won't put that earworm in your head.
Feathered friends in flight.
Tongue twister on the right-hand side.
At the beautiful
Anandapur Theater.
Oh, this is short. theater. This is an old dock for an old attraction, but it can give you some pretty good views
of the Tree of Life and its cover from the sun. Always take the path less traveled.
I was recently asked
my favorite park
at Walt Disney World.
And when I first moved here,
I believe without hesitation I'd say Magic Kingdom,
because it's the OG, right?
We all love Magic Kingdom, or maybe Hollywood Studios, or Epcot.
But over time, I feel like this park has become my favorite park.
There is so much to see and do
and I feel like
Kilimanjaro Safari has become
my favorite attraction
at the Walt Disney World Resort.
And for the simple fact that
it's literally different every
time you ride it.
Which makes it so much fun.
So that was the path less traveled chit-chat with Pete. Whether you've been to Animal Kingdom in the past
or you've listened to a previous episode of Walkabout,
I think you may have an idea
of where we are right now
based on the music is the answer. All right, guys.
Well, I think we're going to do something that I don't know that I've ever done on Walkabout.
I'm sure it's been done, but I don't know that I've ever done it.
It's to get on the Wildlife Express to Conservation Station.
So, let's go get aboard a Disney train.
I'm currently in the train station, waiting to get on the train to Conservation Station.
Now, if you've never been on this experience, it is just that.
It is an amazing experience.
Different kind of train.
Side facing train.
Pretty short train ride for the little ones but entertaining nonetheless and we are
going to board the train And away we go to Conservation Station. Welcome aboard the Wildlife Express, with service to Rafiki's Planet Watch. Here you'll discover a wide range of animal
adventures from the affection section where you can get a close and personal with domesticated
animals like goats, sheep, and more to sneak peeks at animal care in action at our veterinary,
nutrition, and science centers. Also be sure to check out the animation experience at Conservation Station, where you can learn
to draw your favorite Disney characters, inspired by live animals, from one of our animators.
The tradition of animals and animation reaches all the way back to Walt Disney himself and
his long-standing passion for conservation. He believed it was important that we protect our wildlife
and preserve our natural world.
This sense of motivation shaped his legacy
from animation to conservation
to the very adventures we offer here
at Disney's Animal Kingdom each and every day.
As we make our way to Rafiki's Planet Watch, keep an eye out for some of
the exciting wildlife we might encounter along the way and the highly trained specialists who
care for them. From ostriches and rhinos to the mighty African elephant, the species we care for
here at Disney's Animal Kingdom are some of the very same animals that inspired animated classics like The Lion King, The Jungle Book, and more. Did you know Bambi was the first animated feature to bring live animals into the studio?
In the 1940s, Walt Disney and his animators modeled characters from the film
after the movements and natural behaviors of their real-life counterparts.
Even with the latest advances in computer animation, this tradition continues today,
as animators travel throughout the world to observe animals in their own surroundings.
And that includes here at Disney's Animal Kingdom. We are now approaching Conservation Station at Rafiki's Planet Watch.
For your safety and the safety of those around you,
please sit all the way back against the finish and avoid leaning out toward the rail.
Remain seated until the train comes to a complete stop,
and please be sure to watch your children as you exit. Go well and explore. Alright guys, we've made it
to Rafiki's Planet Watch
and I must say
it's the quietest
I've ever seen it
just take that in
for a second So here at Rafiki's Planet Watch
Conservation Station we have
the affection section
where you can get up close and personal with
goats
and sheep
and other kind of domesticated animals.
The animation courtyard is here as well.
So you can draw
along with a Disney animator.
Looks like Timon is meeting here today.
We are going to go inside to see what's going on inside.
So let's go. So in here you can see some invertebrates, you can see the nutrition section, some reptiles. That is a reptile called a bluey. Thank you. There's a lot happening here.
There's stuff going on in the exam window.
Yeah. It looks like there is a cape porcupine anesthesia for dental extractions and x-rays going on currently. So in the window here you are able to watch procedures or exams
or anything at all that's currently happening.
So that was really neat.
I'll make sure I post a picture of that for you guys.
But we saw Dr. Ryan in there
extracting teeth from an African porcupine.
Not something you see every day,
but definitely a cool thing to check out if you're ever at Conservation Station
here at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Rafiki signing autographs.
Yeah. Is Hollywood also a bunch of characters?
No, none.
Currently on the path back to the train And I wanted to thank you guys
